Emma Hanegraef is Head of Product at the Belgian biotech company Axabio, where she leads the development and scientific positioning of the company’s natural astaxanthin products. She holds a Master’s degree in Cellular and Genetic Engineering and has been fascinated by the science of health, skin biology and cellular protection since a young age. At Axabio, Emma plays a key role in translating complex biotechnology and microalgae research into practical applications for nutrition, health and skincare. As both a formulator and science communicator, she focuses on helping professionals and consumers understand how compounds like natural astaxanthin work at the cellular level and why production methods matter for purity, stability and efficacy. Through her work, Emma contributes to Axabio’s mission to bring high-quality, sustainably produced natural antioxidants to the global nutraceutical and wellness market.
