Join us as we talk with Morgan about the young generation
Hello. Hi. Welcome to Girl Talk again. Oh my gosh, what episode is this? I don't know. You know what? This is the episode where we talk about talk two Morgan. Yes. So this is Serena. I'm Haley. And this is Morgan. Um, we're super excited. We are super excited. Um, obviously, she has a different point of view than us because of the you know the age difference, and that's why we're bringing her on here, like to have different generations. I mean, you would agree, right? Yeah, you probably see a little different than a 39-year-old. Yeah, probably. Or 26, 27?
SPEAKER_0127, because I'm 17, or you will be your right.
SPEAKER_02I think I'm 26. I'll be 27 in September.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03You're not old enough to not know what age you are. I'm the old one here. I know what age I am. Um I got to the point where I was like, I have to count every second and know how old I am because my god. Anyways, so there's a huge age here. So we're gonna talk about it, but first, how was your week?
SPEAKER_02Mine was good, it was interesting. Oh wow. I don't know, I just do the same thing every week, okay? It's almost insanity, okay? Like, listen, I go to work, I go home, make dinner, take care of my family, podcast. It's I mean, nothing nothing extremely extraordinary happened, you know. We did worship night on Friday night. Oh, that was beautiful. That was this week. No, that was last week. Today's Tuesday.
SPEAKER_00No, yes, today's Tuesday. We're losing it.
SPEAKER_03We're losing it. It's okay. Um today's Tuesday.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_03Okay, yeah. That's been rough already.
SPEAKER_02Um so Morgan, how was your week last week? Last week, yeah. Last week. Well, to be fair, you said this week.
SPEAKER_00Well, fly's on the light. There's a fly, there's a fly in this room. And it keeps attacking Serena. And he's on the light now.
SPEAKER_03So okay, to be fair, I did ask you this week, and it is Tuesday. So sorry.
SPEAKER_04Well, they are running together.
SPEAKER_03Morgan, how was your week last week?
SPEAKER_01It was good, I think. I can't remember. See, it's all running together. Um I went to Orange Beach.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, she just disappeared on us. I did.
SPEAKER_01I just appeared.
SPEAKER_03Did I see pictures or something?
SPEAKER_01Yes, on the spicy.
SPEAKER_03I already forgot this book.
SPEAKER_01How was that? It was really fun. It was just a day, but a second. We ate dinner or breakfast at the beach.
SPEAKER_03Orange Beach.
SPEAKER_01I think that's Alabama, right? Yes, Alabama.
SPEAKER_03Oh, is it like near my um mobile? Mobile. Oh my goodness. Whatever. I don't know why.
SPEAKER_01How near we're at?
SPEAKER_03Okay, but not mobile, because that's not a place.
SPEAKER_01It was like so mobile. It's like 45 minutes past Pittsburgh.
SPEAKER_03Like mobile. Yeah. Yeah. It's it's mobile. Got it. It's mobile adjacent or something, somewhere along those lines.
SPEAKER_02I see. Who how was your week last week?
SPEAKER_03And this week starting out. My week was um last week was just very it was very long, very long week. Good stuff, just a lot. Um we didn't we did the night of worship at the church, after practicing after doing the podcast, after going to church. Um, but that flood night. Yeah, I'm sorry. Wow, this fly is still bamboozling me because even when I talk, like we're at the fly.
SPEAKER_02Well, it is pretty much attacking. I just was like, Zoom.
SPEAKER_03We did the night of worship, it was a long night, but uh our long week. Night of worship was great. Yeah um because that I meant that's why we were created to get worship, and then I had to get the message on Sunday night, which was very um it's the hardest message I've ever had to give in my life. What you're laughing at me for because y'all were there, yeah, and we were like everyone was like, she was crying a lot. I was crying out of compassion, yeah. You know, like yeah, when the Lord gives you warnings, it's out of his mercy.
SPEAKER_04So scary.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so it's it should come from a place of humility. Yeah, but it definitely did as being a nuts up, Ryan.
SPEAKER_02As being a friend, you're just like, yeah, I know you got this. I know you feel terrible right now, but you like you know you're great, you're doing great, you're delivering that uh hard word really compassionate, right now. I really, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Even though like a lot of people like soaked it in green too, because the word wouldn't send a word like that if it wasn't like very you're gonna sit that with that for like two months, didn't you say that?
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm. And then even what even afterwards, I've just like felt numb when I got home because I was like, What just what should I just do? But like what they're talking about is like we I realize in the word that the false prophet or the false teacher isn't the person who just like always says the wrong things, but you know, it can be sure. Yeah, but a false preacher or a false teacher is someone who gets on stage, gives a word, could give the word correctly, and goes home and has no fruit. And I was just like, I don't, you know, I don't think that a lot of us take that and the fruit is being intense, joy, yeah. Like if you because even when Paul was in jail, he was like, Those people were preaching it in spite of me. But you know what? Let them do it because the gospel's still going out. Yeah, so you can go to preach in front of a church and you can give man, you can give just a jam-up job. Go home, hit your wife. You are a false teacher, like you know what I'm saying? So I was just like, Yeah, my God. You know, just all of it, just kind of because I don't understand. There's a lot of warnings the Bible gives that we just don't think about. We think, oh, God's graceful, God's graceful, God's graceful. Yeah, grace only extends to what extent.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you know what I'm saying? So it was some really intense different things that all met each other, but just graceful.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, so I had to do that.
SPEAKER_02Uh, but I was not doing it because how but how how wonderful is it that he trusts you with his heart things because he knows your heart is yeah, and if your heart wasn't right, he probably wouldn't allow someone to yeah.
SPEAKER_03I think some people would have given it out of frustration or anger, and I think that that's a concern, like giving it out of the heart that the Lord because he only chases after us and he only um corrects us because he loves us.
SPEAKER_02He didn't want us to be in a space where people with a right hot posture, they always weep before they warn, they always, you know, because they sit on our first, and so I think it was beautiful.
SPEAKER_03But but but if my next message can be just like encouraging yeah, yeah, you're encouraging but in a completely different way. Like when I was like, I don't I don't know how to call an altar call on this. I was like, I think that y'all just need to go home think about this because uh what I'm surely I'm not gonna be like, hey, who's the false teacher here? And someone's actually gonna come out and make a prayer, yeah. Like that's what so I was just like, oh Lord. So that was my week. And then last night I was just like, I'm not doing nothing.
SPEAKER_04Nothing at a work last night.
SPEAKER_03No, I worked yesterday yesterday. You wear it too. No, you work. Oh my uh chair. It's a great thing to do though. We have a um uh Christian's helping addicts and recovery group that also meets here um a couple times a month. Our church. Our church has it's from our church, no, yeah, not uh it's our church that has it. Yeah, and um they also meet at the same location a couple times a month, and um Morgan helps them um like preparing coffee and stuff, yeah, yeah, yeah. So, but that's great, that's awesome. Yeah, be able to help them be obedient and helping ministry.
SPEAKER_02So um today we're talking about how how we're gonna ask Morgan some questions because she's younger and she is living out faith in this younger generation, and so we just want to kind of ask her some questions and some input um of how it is for her living in this generation and kind of what advice would she give. Um, because new believer isn't just for older people, there's also we're coming straight out of youth camp, and so there's also probably a lot of younger new believers too that probably need help in that area too.
SPEAKER_03So, yeah, and um I love Morgan, yeah. It's weird because when I when I first started coming to the church, I think you were like 12 and I was 17. I'm like, stop.
SPEAKER_01It's crazy, stop five years.
SPEAKER_03What how dare you do that?
SPEAKER_01How dare I grow up?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, like what is I didn't even do it on purpose. I know, and I didn't I didn't use old on purpose, it just feels weird because it is like I will I would die for you.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_03Okay, but I do love Morgan, and uh I guess we'll just get it out of the Morgan is our um, she is a pastor's kid, so she is our pastor's daughter. We're just gonna get it out of the way. I said I wasn't going to, she said she was going to, so it is what it is. Well, yeah, so some of the answers.
SPEAKER_02She can give help for also younger people that are ministers' children, and so that you that way, like when you listen to this, if you're younger or or older and you maybe need help in that area, she she can bring some insight in a lot of different directions.
SPEAKER_03For sure. And then um, Morgan's, you're involved a lot of ministry. Yeah, you sing, you're in the dance. What? Okay, well, we'll talk about it later. You were singing and you were dancing. I don't know what I just did wrong. She but we've also heard you preach. Yeah, yeah. So um you're you're in the thick of it.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Well, I mean, you're in you're already automatically in the thick of it because you're the pastor's kid, but you are not just writing on what they do, you have your own what you do and what the Lord's called you to do. I think that's beautiful. Yeah. I think also your age. Um one of the questions.
SPEAKER_02What is it like for you as a younger person living for the Lord in this generation?
SPEAKER_01Um, so I will say it's very hard. Just because like when you're younger, people like look down on you and yeah, it's very hard, but also very rewarding. Um, like the Lord definitely like when you get to give people word, like what the Lord is saying, it's like it's not fun, but it's definitely um yeah. But it's definitely like rewarding.
SPEAKER_03Like well when you say look down on you, do you think you mean that they just they disregard you or they uh their expectations are low of you? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01You're like people's expect not yours, not mine. But people's expectations are low because you're young, so you don't know as much as them you.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and that's where like in Timothy he says, Um, Paul is telling Timothy, let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith, purity, show yourself an example of those who believe. And so, like, that's so contrary to the word for people to look down on a younger person because the word says actually they can be an example. Yeah, and so, and there's many different well-known leaders in the Bible, like David, and there was kings that were young, you know, that were actually Jesus was young, yeah. And so it's like that's contrary to the word to look down on someone because of their age, and a lot of people do that, I think, and not like necessarily trying to be mean, but they just yeah, um, some people try to cover because they're like your experience isn't there yet, but the Lord can do whatever the Lord wants to do within someone, so yeah, it it's either like that or there might be an issue with humility on their end or whatever, because I I am full belief that you can know is that exactly what I know or know.
SPEAKER_03I don't have to say that because I want you to, like, who am I? You know what I'm saying? So um I I would never uh but uh I get it because we were boss both boss, we were both also young at one point. So I I do hate that it feels that way because there's actually a lot we can learn from you. I think that a lot as we get older, we get disconnected from your age group. And I think an issue is too, is like you'll have young people on that side of the room, old people on older, excuse me, on that side of the room, and nobody's talking about ourselves and no one coming up, and nobody comes together because it's oh well they don't understand each other. But I bet you would understand each other if you actually took the time because the bridge they gap. You they were young at one point, you need their wisdom because you can know all the things and not have the wisdom to use it because you don't have the life experience. Fine, whatever. But you I think that you can know the word just as well as any other whatever.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Um so, but I I do understand that. Um but from my experience, I think that is a humility issue. Yeah, like a pride issue.
SPEAKER_02Um what are some struggles for the Lord?
SPEAKER_01So what I gotta think about this. Um, so I feel like like most things like that people my age struggle with aren't necessarily things that you can see from the outside. Like in my generation, a lot of us have mental um things that we deal with and outward things. So um, like I just wrote down some like common things. Um we want to fit in a lot and like we don't want to be different than everybody else when the Bible actually calls us to be. Um, we struggle with peer pressure, um relationships, social media, like other things that don't that is one thing we didn't I didn't have. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03When I was in high school, we didn't have cell phones. I don't know. I know that makes me sound so old, but we didn't and we didn't have social media.
SPEAKER_04Slip phones?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, okay. 26 years old. I'm 39. Well, I'm just saying, you know, we had I had a stories, yeah. How dare you? I'm just gonna get up out of the chair and leave and slam the door. I'm gonna bring the fly with me. How dare you? Anyway, oh, did you also see it in a cave painting? Oh, what did you find hieroglyphics with it like that? What is that? Caveman with a cave. I thought pull out the ante. Oh my gosh, I knew as soon as I said we didn't have phones when I was in high school, I was gonna get it. I knew it. Oh, let me probably miss that. Oh I had a phone when I got out of high school, I had a flip phone, but we didn't have social media. I didn't have social media until I was in my 20s. So the same kind of peer pressure you have is not the same kind of peer pressure we had. The same kind of peer pressure she has is not the same one I had. So, but it's gotten worse because social media has gotten so bad. I feel bad for your generation.
SPEAKER_02Well, it has to be confusing seeing like trying to see different opinions at one time. Because even when I was growing up, like about when I was like maybe 16, 17-ish, we started getting into like the phones and stuff like that and Facebook and all things. We I did have MySpace.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I had MySpace?
SPEAKER_02That's not all my email pictures of it. So, but I think it kind of gets confusing because you're trying to live one way, but you're seeing all this other ways now, more so now than you probably did back then. But hey, I'm just gonna say, like back then you could was a little more sneaky, you know? And so, but it's nothing new under the sun, though. Like you know what I mean, and so the same tactics then are still now, except for I think it's just more in your face, yeah, with social media and everything like that.
SPEAKER_03I think it is does make it harder to fit in because what you see, whoa, it's social media is not reality. Like people are not always beautiful and always perfect, and they don't wake up and they smell like sunshine. Like that's just not reality. People people probably have horrible marriages and they're on there and they're trying to give you tips for their marriage. People probably have read their like Bible once this year, but that one thing, like you know what I'm saying? Like, there's a lot of people, they're just it's not true, it's not true, but it's being bombarded to you and it's being advertised to you like this is what life's supposed to be like, and it's just not true.
SPEAKER_01I actually follow this girl and she just posted this week about how like you don't see what she doesn't want you to see, so like all the bad, the ugly, like she just hides that away for you not to see that, yeah. Yeah, see the good part, and you only see the good part.
SPEAKER_03Because then we would have to be true about who we are, we would have to be real people, we'd have to actually have hard conversations that people don't want to have. So, like um, I do think like what you said, I think that things could be a little bit more sneaky back in the day because we did all have we all have emotional issues and stuff too from our kids, Arta, but like a lot of that was just in a home, and it was outlet different too. Um but now everyone, everyone, if you cheated on me, you're getting recorded being cheated.
SPEAKER_02Like every everything is just recorded, broadcasted to everyone, and so I feel like you're almost exposed to too much, too much way too much, yeah, and you're trying to live for the Lord, and then everything else is pulling at you too, which I'm sure back in the day you had the same things, but as a generation where it's like right here, I I do yeah, see why that would be a struggle, and it's like you're take and your mental health too, because you're taking all this different stuff and hearing yourself, and yeah, it's like the other day, uh Sunday morning when I was at the altar, um, because I I like to pray before service now, and I when I got I was on my knees, and then I stood like I got straight up on my knees, and I could hear people praying, and then I could hear people talking.
SPEAKER_03And the Lord was like, This is what this your phone is doing to you. It is dividing your attention. So even though you want to be praying and you want to be here, yeah, because you keep looking at your phone, you keep getting into your phone, this is what you're hearing, and it's mumbling and it's jumbling at everything. So you don't even have a clear thought because all you hear is everyone else's opinion consistently. And I'm just like, okay, I'm gonna get off my phone.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_03We don't know how they live outside of and I I I think that is one thing that does come with some wisdom, like being able to, but you You have been around your mom who preaches the stinking ceiling down. So you should have some kind of discernment. You know what I'm saying? I mean, and I was honestly, I was I was on the way home from work. I was listening to my Bible, and I got to a point that she actually made last week, and I was like, I would have never even thought of that. I was like, that lady is made for this. Yeah. 100% made for this. So pastor is awesome. But you're not pastor, and you are your own individual. Okay. But, anyways, yes. So super feel bad that your like generation is just so bombarded with not knowing what's true and what's real. That's so unfair. And I know that's a tactic. Like, even like we in your school, do you have transgender people? Do y'all deal with that at your age?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, for sure.
SPEAKER_03Like at your school, and like people like identifying like cats and stuff.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_03You had to do it. See, when I was in school, no, like we we it was that's what I'm saying, like things were going on, but people were quiet about what went on and stayed in their homes. Like, even me, like they already know I was lesbian.
SPEAKER_02Like that wasn't broadcasted to people, but now everything is in your face, so I imagine it does get confusing and it adds that mental health in there. Um what is something that you would tell a younger person that is trying to live for the Lord, even though they're facing all this other stuff? What would you tell someone who has just got saved? They're your age, maybe younger, maybe a little older. What would you what would your advice be to them?
SPEAKER_01Okay, I guess I have that question differently. Okay, can you say that again?
SPEAKER_02What is something you would tell a younger person trying to live for the Lord?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, what's something what's something you'd tell a younger person about living for the Lord too? Is that what you know?
SPEAKER_01Yes.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_01Um so don't be afraid for what like to do what the Lord is calling you to do. Because like you brought up like with Timothy and all that. Um because the Lord still talks to you just as much as he would talk to an older person. Um but also I have don't confuse being close to God with being perfect. Um because you'll have days when your faith feels strong and when it feels quiet, but you have to keep choosing him anyway. Yeah, yeah. So like even like like your faith being built up on ordinary moments, so like you reading your Bible when you don't want to, praying when you don't have words, um following Jesus is not always gonna make you popular.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, but God's not gonna like God's gonna put people in your life that isn't gonna like tear down your faith, but build it and encourage it. Um and then the last thing I have is don't rush God's timing because it's easy to think that you're behind with like all the things your friends are doing, um dating, figuring life out, but God isn't late. Um and then those are most of the seasons that the Lord shapes you the most.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. I think that's a really good point about like whether you feel God or not. First of all, he's always there, yeah, regardless of how you feel him. Yeah, my age or your age, sometimes we have a like a are you still there? But that's why when we talk about the waiting, that's how we when we say we're tethered to him. So even if we don't feel him, we're still like it's almost like an umbilical cord. Like we're still getting nutrients from him, and our obedience is still getting blessing, whether we know that the timing is like we want the timing to be. Yeah, but we're still getting all the nutrients and all of we're still building a relationship with him, even when it doesn't feel. I think that might be one thing too about the generation where there's like especially with like scrolling and stuff, there's an instant gratification that we actually every generation right now being on our phones. I struggle with that, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I like to scroll at night, yeah.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, and you don't think about it, and then like an hour later you're like, oh, I did this for an hour. Okay, it didn't feel that way. But because we're so used to instant gratification that you're right, the timing feels like it just feels off. But you're right. Also, you're people your age have like a um, it's like a like a rush to be in a relationship or like a pressure to to be like everyone else, and it shouldn't be.
SPEAKER_02My advice would be what Second Timothy says, it says, now flee from youthful lust and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart, but refuse foolish and ignorant speculations, knowing that they produce quarrels. The Lord's bond servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, skillful in teaching, patient when wronged, with gentle well, gentleness correcting those who are in opposition. Opposition, I don't know why I said that way.
SPEAKER_03I was wondering what opposition was. It's okay. It's okay.
SPEAKER_02If perhaps God may grant them repentance, leading to the knowledge of truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil and having been held captive by by him to do his will. And so when we live in this way, we live in the way of righteousness and we live out our faith and our love with peace, and we are actually instead of condemning others and casting them down, even at a young age, gossip is rampant, you know. Even at a young age, you know, you can live this out by reading your Bible, by telling, being patient with someone you may not like at school or in the friend group or on Snapchat, or you know, and if you can live it out and you can show people your faith and be patient with others and be encouraging and actively teach the right things and divide the word correctly, including your lifestyle, then I think that we can set an example for other young people, right? That's why it's important for younger generations to rise up and to do what the word says and be of the Lord, because this generation actually, I read it hopefully it's still the same, but I read this is also one of the most generations that do actually go to church.
SPEAKER_03I heard that's and so but because they need truth, they want truth by seeing the lies everywhere.
SPEAKER_02This generation is actually they're not, they're not, they're thirsty, they don't want your fake church, they don't want your fake words, yeah. They're actually hungry and thirsty generation. Your generation is that, and so it's just okay, as a young adult, how can you rise up and be that thing that brings living water to them and feeds them the bread of life, you know? And so that would be my advice is to be the one that can bring something that sustains someone because it's not that this generation isn't hungry and thirsty, it's just that some people are fulfilling themselves with the wrong thing. And so if younger generation can begin ministering to younger generation and older generation on how to reach all and how to be apart and how to come together, I believe that this is this is really a revival generation.
SPEAKER_03Like that's a good question. So, how how do how does someone like me connect with you? If you know the answer to that.
SPEAKER_01Help us. Well, so like I know it helps me a lot having older friends because I don't necessarily like I don't have a lot of younger friends just because I grew up with older people. So um, like those friendships definitely help. Like seeing someone like go through life and then like them keep their faith no matter what is like a really big thing. Yeah, so like just make connections with the younger generation, yeah.
SPEAKER_03And do think that a lot of people that are older are probably scared of people in your generation. Maybe the same, yeah. Like, yeah, you probably think or not you, because we're anyways, yes. So I'm intimidating, yeah. That that's it. But it's intimidating on both ends. It really is because some reason I'm 39.
SPEAKER_00What if I run them off?
SPEAKER_03Right. There's that, but there's also like for some reason I'm 39 on almost 40. But if that 15-year-old kid thinks I'm a loser, then oh what are we doing in the mind?
SPEAKER_02Like I'm totally inside, you know, whatever. But I like I think honestly though, like just talking to you and one of your friends, I I don't know. I love talking to y'all, you know, but they probably look like you're you're a mama hen. Get away from me. You know, like look, because listen, I was there, you know, I went and did all the other things, I was thirsty for the wrong things, and I had someone literally come up to me and just tell me the truth. Yeah, like and it wasn't even it wasn't even godly truth, but it had it been, you know what I mean? How much longer would I had with with the Lord, you know, really? Um, but it was just world a worldly like hey, if you wear more clothes, you know, you you look beautiful with more clothes on. And I needed that truth because I just I just never had someone say that to me, you know what I mean? Because in our generation, it was always like less close, you know.
SPEAKER_03And I'm you know, I think the issue too is I think someone my age has a um a fear of trying to relate to you, and I don't maybe the issue is not actually trying to relate to you, yeah, just talking to you like your person.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, like yeah, the younger people go through stuff just like older people do because we were all there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, all there. Yeah, and so I I think sometimes I can tend to want to be a little more like cover you, and that's just my nature, yeah, you know, because I don't like I I don't want you to learn the hard way, yeah. You know, I want to just go ahead and give you the truth.
SPEAKER_03I'm sorry, Caitlyn. Honestly, though, if you could there's so many things if you can learn right now, like your identity. Yeah, oh my gosh, yeah, uh young young pupils, whoever you are, everywhere. Yeah, you have to please learn your identity now. Do not be around my age and like just like figuring it out when you had this whole time, like but also don't look for your identity in worldly space. No, no, no. Your identity, you are a priest, you are a child of God. What does that mean for you? And I don't even mean by you're you're a prophet, you're yeah, our teacher. And I don't mean you gotta know who you are in Christ before you even do all that.
SPEAKER_02God or you're assigned to the most high.
SPEAKER_03What does it mean that God loves me? Like those are super important things to know now because when you get older and life gets harder, and it's not that it's not hard as a teenager because it's the hardest. Yeah, a lot of grammar. Okay, but as an adult, it's harder on a completely different level where you sometimes you don't even have time to even process what you're thinking or how you feel because you're just like boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. And I know you probably say that in your parents. Um, so it's a completely different kind of hard. But if you if you get a grasp on that while you're young, like golly, I'm at the potential of someone. Like, not that I have any like regrets because that's pointless. That's kind of a waste of time. But I do see it, like I look back and I'm like, oh man, if I could have also if I would have had someone pour into me. That's why that's so important too. Like we want to pour into you, and we want to pour into people your age because I didn't have to I just I just you know, I'm I just I want to be a benefit to you when I'm pouring to you.
SPEAKER_02Like, you know what I mean? I don't want to just pour something that you're not gonna receive.
SPEAKER_03Just pour hot coffee off.
SPEAKER_02Just like whatever, you know, but like if if there is a connection, yeah, if we can form those connections and build those bridges, and because like I said, this generation is hungry, they are thirsty for something, and I think that's why you see them go so far one way or so far one way, like they're they're really not in between at all. Like they are it's an extreme, yeah, you know, and so like I feel like if we could all do probably a little better with reaching and building up a little bit the younger generation, yeah. Me, I can speak for me, I can't speak for everybody else. Me, I feel like I could do better.
SPEAKER_03I can too.
SPEAKER_02Um, because I I taught to two, well, three, you know, other than my own little patch.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think I have I kind of live in a little bubble, and I don't mean to, like, I'm just running around the church trying to do what I have to do, and like saying good morning to people, but not actually stopping. And like, like I I do want to pour, especially like the singers and stuff. Like, I I I I realized recently that like like pouring into you and Gracie and like Christian and stuff, and being like, hey, this, like, because also that's another thing too. Like, I sing, but I didn't have real confidence in that until recently. Like, so now I'm a completely different person, but I I want people to know, like, early on, like you can belt that from your diaphragm, my friend. And uh, I just felt like something the other day, like, this is what I want to do. Like, I want to pour into people in these kind of spaces to be like that makes me happy.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like when you came on to the station, just yeah, it's like she like Gracie the other day.
SPEAKER_03She asked me, she texted me, she's like, Okay, you're gonna okay. And she's like, I can't find where to go. Yeah, so I went up there and I whispered in her ear what two harmonies she could choose, just trying to help like, and I was like, No one did that for me, yeah. So we're just like being like what we could do to actually be helpful and not be in our own bubbles is the real issue.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and I I mean, I mean, I can we can all speak for ourselves, you know what I mean? But I feel like I could do better. Speak for me, you know, and uh I mean, I you know, whatever, not trying to be all up in the you know, Kool-Aid, but I mean I feel like we almost should be all up in the Kool-Aid, you know, making sure y'all are like Did you brush your teeth today?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, more like people Sarah, Sarah came up to me at work today and she was trying to tell me that she found um Sarah Grace, that she found a different way to study the Bible. And she's like, Have you ever heard of soap? And I went, whoa, I think that but wait, uh I didn't like deep dive into it. Like I'm always doing that, but the first thing was like, What do you mean? Have I never heard of soap? I debated myself, brother. Oh, I see what you're saying now. Oops. And then the person next to us was laughing too, because I was like, Of course I've heard of soap. What are you talking about? Yeah, but anyways, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um what are some practical things you would tell a younger person trying to live for the Lord?
SPEAKER_01Um it's okay to be different for sure.
SPEAKER_03Um yeah, yeah. Sorry.
SPEAKER_01Just be the way you need you to be. Yeah, like you don't have to be loud to like show your face.
SPEAKER_03Like, yeah, but this fruit don't scream.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, fruit is quiet. Um break. You just have to be consistent, like consistently living by your fates daily and like showing kindness to everyone, like person at school who sits alone when they at the lunch. You just go sit with them, make conversation, be nice to them. Um learn Jeremy's really good at this, by the way. Learning people's names, like that, just like oh gosh, I'm in trouble. Like just like I'm so sorry. What is your name? Yeah, um, and like just like make people feel seen. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Like that's uh honestly, that's one of the easiest things you could do to make people feel loved is just acknowledge them. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Um and my next one is to watch your words, like so like avoid gossip and tearing people down and joining in with people when they make fun of people. Um, because that just like shows like I'm not doing this, like shows that you're okay with it. Yeah, like God is He's the same people, yeah. He's there for everybody, and um be the same person everywhere. Um, so if you're one person at church and one person at your house or school or work or whatever you do, um it just like shows like you're not really in it.
SPEAKER_02Um also you're kind of like teaching the opposite thing, you know. You're teaching one group that, hey, this is how you live with the Lord, you know, and then you're teaching another group, this is how you live for the world, and then somewhere in there you lose one of the groups because they're like, okay, are you really what are you what are you? You know what I mean? And or you'd be like, they'd be like, I just don't want nothing to do with that. And obviously, we're trying to do the opposite, right? We're trying to show our faith. So people want to be of faith, they want what you have, not in a way that's like envious or like covenantness or nothing like that, but like you're you're there's a light in you, yeah. Like they're like, okay, I that's what I need, that's what I'm missing in a way that's good and the way that is healthy, and so that that would be the hope, right? You know, and so if we are doing all the other things, if we're gossiping, if we're being mean to other people, then we're not showing the Lord.
SPEAKER_01You have to be safe, yeah, to be a safe space for people, yeah.
SPEAKER_02But when you're the one that goes and the person that's bullied and you tell them, hey, you're loved, not only by me, but by the Lord. Hey, you have a place in the Lord, hey, um, or if you take someone that maybe doesn't have anyone and you say, Hey, let's meet at this time and read the Bible. Yeah, hey, let's meet at this time and pray. Hey, let me tell you about the Lord today. Then we can touch so many people, you know. And if and then those people that you touch, they can go out and you know, yeah, and then it's just like a domino effect. For sure. Do you have anything else that you she has more? Yeah, did you want me to say those? For sure. Okay, yeah, these are all important.
SPEAKER_01We're here, we're here to hear what you have to say today, girl. So um pray before you react.
SPEAKER_02That's like that's for the adults too, for everybody.
SPEAKER_01Um so like somebody's making you mad and you just want to tell them all, yeah. Just take your time and like really like ask the Lord to take all your bitterness from you and like walk away from that one, yeah. And like show grace, extend grace. Yeah. Um you can serve with like without seeking recognition. Yeah. So like even if you're sweeping the floors, you don't have to be like, I sweep the floors, like at the church, like just do it, and like the Lord's gonna reward that. Yeah. Um use social media differently is a big one, especially like for the younger generation. So like if you're cussing on your social media or you're wearing revealing clothing, like that just doesn't show like the Lord, like he's working on me, or like doesn't show the Lord very well.
SPEAKER_02But like if you aren't doing people are watching, yeah, people are definitely watching, like even the ones that like are around you and you have witness too, like you don't want to lose your witness, you know. And if they see, like, oh yeah, she goes to church and she's she lives for the Lord, but they see you on social medias or at home or around living differently, they're gonna be like they don't want to do it. Or they don't want to do it, or if she lives like that and does that, then I can live like that and do that. And you know, like you don't want to be that example, you want to set a good example, you want to turn Turn away from the youthful lust.
SPEAKER_03I think we just genuinely forget this as life and death. Yeah. And that's why so last Sunday message was so harsh because we're forgetting how yeah deep this actually is. Like it's life or death. So we do want to be good examples.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, even even as adults. Oh, yeah. You know, I think that's a good for any everybody. Yeah, because even if me as an adult, if I'm on there acting crazy, you know, they just be like, um, hey, uh hopefully one of y'all better come get. I'm not even better than that. Not when they went wrong. Come get me. Something went mad wrong. I blacked out and woke up. I don't know what happened. Come get me. Okay. Not even because of my own doing. Okay, but like I'm just saying, if that ever happens, please. Y'all come search for me and find me. Don't let me on here beat me a fool. If I got a booker in my nose, y'all better. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03This is enough, just us being awkward on this podcast.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03You still have more.
SPEAKER_01I know. Um, you can put some big ones. You can get them. This, by the way. These were this was like a big one. Um, but so the next one is to be respectful. Um, because when you show other people respect, it shows the light of the Lord. And like Jesus washed people's feet, like he was very respectful. And um, it's like when you just honor your teachers, your parents, your coaches, your boss. Um, even when it's difficult, sometimes it is difficult, but even when you are respectful, it shows the Lord. Um, so and all the parents said yes, block it. Um, and teachers and coaches. School's about to start back.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Um, set healthy boundaries in dating, like let your relationship reflect your values instead of following whatever's popular.
SPEAKER_03Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Um, be selective, please. I love you with all my heart. So I want to be just be selective.
SPEAKER_02Have high standards.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, just be evenly oped.
SPEAKER_02And if you are and and I want to add to that, like as a young person who who thought that's like what you had to do, yeah. You know, like I always felt like as a young person, that's what you're supposed to do. You're supposed to be dating, you're supposed to be finding your husband because you're running out of all this time, you know. No, you got your whole life out of you. Like, you really like the Lord willing, you do have time, you know. So, like, don't live your life seeking a person. Seek Jesus and then ask Jesus to send you a person. Say, Lord, make me ready for whoever that you're going to send me and just make them ready. And that way, when this thing does happen and we're both mature enough for it, we don't mess it up. Yeah. And my youthful mind isn't messing it up. But also, I'm not saying the Lord won't send early because I know a lot of couples they have in middle school. What I am saying though is use discernment and don't be just chasing chasing and filling voids. Yeah, absolutely. Use your discernment, keep your hands to yourself. Make sure the heart posture in it is right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Because we're not gonna, yeah. Keep your hands to yourself.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And wait till marriage. Yes, please.
SPEAKER_03Do not and do not use scripture.
SPEAKER_02Keep your innocent.
SPEAKER_03Don't even start it with bang.
SPEAKER_00Don't let people rush you into things. Because you are valuable. That's why you're supposed to be even like.
SPEAKER_02Either don't let no one make you feel that way, whether you are a boy or a girl. Right. You are valuable.
SPEAKER_03You're more than your body.
SPEAKER_02Because there is things. Yes, we're having the awkward mom talk. Yes, we are. We're doing it. I'm like, I'm like, mom, I can't. Like, listen, you are valuable. Yeah. And the person that loves you will honor you and wait.
SPEAKER_03And they'll understand your boundaries.
SPEAKER_02Because there's so much tied into that. Like, just wait. It's worth it to wait.
SPEAKER_03Well, even like some reason. Well, I found sorry the face doesn't mean like I found like in like the last 20 years is that people are drawn to toxic relationships purposely.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03It's kind of it's very strange. Like, you know what I'm saying? What are you doing? Like, you can't fix them. You can't even fix you. Step aside, please. Like, don't we want healthy relationships? We want uh we want the floor to be God. Like, we want what's the word I'm gonna go for foundation, not the floor. We don't want to be stepping on God. We want the foundation to be of God. Like, I don't care how old, like you said before, doesn't matter how young you are, you know the word of God. Yeah, so I don't care. There's not a well, we were young and dumb, you sure were, but like that doesn't make us okay, like you know what I'm saying? Yeah, but the whole like and then we did it, so let's rush into marriage thing.
SPEAKER_02Don't don't do it just no, just just wait, wait on the Lord, wait on the Lord, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Anyway, what's your next one? Um, my next one is to forgive quickly. Um, holding grudges is common, but extending forgiveness stands out. So when you extend forgiveness, you're showing a light and you're not being like everyone else. Yeah, the Lord says too, the Bible says too.
SPEAKER_02Serena found there's no blue poles. No, we already we already researched it for you, so just so you know, there's no none um.
SPEAKER_01I do, I have one more.
SPEAKER_03Oh, actually, you had two more.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um, be dependable. Um, so like show up when you say you're gonna show up. Um, keep your word. Follow through on your commitment.
SPEAKER_02My dad used to say a man's as good as his word.
unknownOr a woman.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but man like that because yeah. He probably meant whatever. I don't know. No, I don't I understand what you're saying. I understand what you're saying.
SPEAKER_03Like men as in the web, you know, like humans. It that really is though. It's so important. Um it shows integrity.
SPEAKER_02If something comes up and you say, Hey, um, this came up, I'm sorry. Oh, yeah, that's being honorable. You know, but that is integrity. Yeah, don't leave people just hanging, like expecting you don't show up.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, um, and then my last one is choose joy and gratitude. Um, and then I do have a verse for this one.
SPEAKER_03Get in.
SPEAKER_01Matthew 5, 16 says, in the same way, let your light shine before others so that they may see your good works and give glory to your father in heaven.
SPEAKER_04That's it.
SPEAKER_01So when you do those things, like people are gonna notice, and then they're gonna say, That's the Lord. Like at Pizza Hut the other night, our youth group, well, not a few of us from church, um, and Miss Ursula, we all went to Pizza Hut and our waiter was not having a very good night. And she like came up to our table and she was so happy, and she was like, I can just see the love of the Lord, like and the joy of the Lord also. And like we had just come out of youth camp and we were like like we were crying. And like, so like we just got to show her, like, even like when you're having a bad day, like we had to show the like the love of the Lord to her.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, what's it's a bright light and a dark room? It's like, yeah, it's yeah, that's beautiful. Let me cry now too.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that is um being different isn't about trying to look more Christian than anyone else, it's about loving people well, living with integrity, and putting others to cry so the way you live every day.
SPEAKER_02So being different is rooted in just a relationship with the Lord. It's not rooted in anything else, but just flows from your relationship with the Lord. I have loved your body. I'm already learning. Um is there anything else anybody has? I would just find I would say it was how younger generation pour into each other, pour the word into each other, um value one another, um, respect each other, show the light of the Lord, and live according to the word. Don't don't talk bad about people, don't give yourself away too young. Don't live your life to please other people that are not the Lord. Like, yes, live with integrity that shines light, but don't live rooted in trying to gain love from people all the time. Don't don't rush your life away. Let your first love be Christ and let everything else flow from that and find you some godly friends that are gonna lead you in a good direction and put you on a solid foundation of the Lord.
SPEAKER_03And don't be afraid of old people. They can't relate to you.
SPEAKER_02Talk to us because we are cool too.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, family is not old.
SPEAKER_02They're so much fun. Considering, okay. Okay, for them, I'm probably young. Oh Matt.
SPEAKER_03I'm so over you right now. Just get out of here.
SPEAKER_00It's okay.
SPEAKER_02It's still cool.
SPEAKER_00It's all right. Um, but um, thank you for watching. And um praying us out.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I hope this helps a young person. And um if you have any questions, you can um comment, you can share, you can message us, and Morgan is gonna pray us out. And Morgan, thank you for being on. We love you. We also like hanging out with you your wisdom, even at a young age. Um, and don't ever let anyone tell you you're too young because you are a foreign leader, and you shift atmospheres and rooms, and I'm thankful to you.
SPEAKER_03And Haley will beat them up. Yeah, you heard that, right? Um don't let nobody because Haley is behind you, like respectfully, like there's certain like that's the girl, you know. I don't think like when I said in the beginning of this video I die for her.
SPEAKER_02I don't care, like might as well be mine. You are eagles, and so yeah, I don't know like if that's okay or not, but I mean, like, I went and tried. I don't really understand that, but yeah, like I just strongly advise not to try that, yeah. But you know, take that with what you will. That's just the truth. But because I love you, yeah, and I mean I'll go for a while, pray.
SPEAKER_00Um, I'll go to war for you, yeah. Yeah, absolutely. And with you, yeah, and with you, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Whichever way I'm whatever has to happen.
SPEAKER_03Someone's getting hurt. This is basically what I'm saying. Might be the enemy.
SPEAKER_01Anyways, we want to pray us out. Yes. Okay. Lord, we just thank you for this time together and being able to share the wisdom that you have shown us to this younger generation and older generation. Um, I ask that you would help us live with integrity and show the love of you and be the light in the dark room. And Jesus, right? Amen.
SPEAKER_04Amen.
SPEAKER_02We love you. Thanks for being here. Also, I'm we're not talking about violence, by the way.
SPEAKER_03Oh no, yeah, we were joking. Yeah. Um that's a joke you were looking to record us. Just turn it off.
