John Banovich is an award-winning director, cinematographer, and wildlife filmmaker based on Canada’s west coast. With over 25 years of experience filming across every province and territory, his work spans natural history documentaries, feature films, and immersive virtual productions.

A passionate storyteller and fierce advocate for coexistence, John brings an unmatched lens to the wild, shaped not only by decades of fieldwork with bears and caribou, but also by surviving a life-altering collision that deepened his perspective on resilience and recovery.

He is a member of the CSC, DGC, and IATSE 669, and was recently honored with multiple “Best Director” and “Best Cinematography” awards internationally. John continues to champion inclusive filmmaking and is currently completing his first book "BANOVICH" and wildlife series, The Gentle Beast.
