Yo, yo, what's good? What's good? We back at it. What's good, Tice?
SPEAKER_01Good, what's good, Jake Allen, man? What's good with you?
SPEAKER_00Oh, man, just cooling, man. Yo, we back at another episode, man. You know what I mean? You ready for this? I'm ready for this. That's what's up. That's what's up, man. Navigating beyond the negativity today. You know what I mean? Yes, yes. That's what it's all about, man. How was your week?
SPEAKER_01My week was good, man. My week was real good. Always looking forward to getting with you and, you know, doing what we're doing. Just trying to spread and make the world a little better, bro.
SPEAKER_00You already know. You know what it is. Yo, the Eagles, man. What's up, man? What was up with that last win, bro?
SPEAKER_01Man, it made me pull my head out of J a little bit. Like, God, man. 10-7? I mean, I'll take the, I'll always take the win, but you know, I just a little worried about the offense, man. I wanted to get it together. They just gotta get it together, boys.
SPEAKER_00I was at the crib, like, what is going on with the Eagles, bro? Yeah. Like, this ain't us, yo. We we we usually I don't know, man. We just don't look like Super Bowl champs right now, man. So the adjustments have to be made before the next game because, you know, the Detroit Lions are a pretty good team. And I just want us to be able to just go in there and just do what we do. You know what I'm saying? I feel just have a balanced, balanced offense and defense so that we can win this game and pull it out. You know what I mean? Because we're gonna see them eventually again, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think at some point we're gonna see them, you know, in the playoffs. So we got to get right, man. It can't be every Sunday, anxiety Sunday. Woo! You ain't gonna be able to do that. That's how I feel with my eagles. I be going through my emotions, but let's just get it together.
SPEAKER_00That's what I'm trying to say, man. So, yo, Tys, I've been thinking about this negativity thing, man, that's going on in the world. There's a lot of negativity that goes on in the world, and it's almost like even in the podcast space, I'll be bugging in the internet and social media where we're supposed to be at each other's throat instead of like building some kind of camaraderie and supporting each other's podcasts. Like, I ain't gonna front. I love you know a lot of people's podcasts, I love to earn your leisure. Um, I love you know Joe and Jada. Joe and Jada is the most hilarious, though. That joint crazy with Joe. And they be like Joe B Captain, but like you say, when you look at the big homie, the big homie was just on um uh drink champs, Buck Wild. Buck was like, nah, no Joe. You know what I mean? And and Buck's my homie. So Buck, when Buck, if Buck's saying it, you know, a lot of stuff that Joe's saying is real, and it's real then. But Joe be, the story's tight. The stories be crazy. Joe be like, yo, you know I walked in Chuck E. Cheese, right? I had a hundred goons with me. You know what I'm saying? Because, you know, they real people, they real killers, you know. But and the kid stepped to me. You be like, Joe, a kid stepped to you, man. Like, yeah, you know, like, come on, man. But Joe, my grandson, he from the Bronx too, and he rolled with like 20 dudes. And it got ugly. And you'll be like, Joe, what you mean? It got ugly with your grandson. Your grandson took care of the young boy, man. It's like, yeah, Joe will be is his yo, his classic, man. Shout out to uh Joe and Jay the man with their podcast, man. It's just so crazy, bro. It's crazy. But the negativity that goes on in the world is it's like it's supposed to divide us and not bring us together. You know what I mean? And I'm just like, I remember when you said you was in college, you went for journalism, and he was like, if it bleeds, then it then it leads. And they report on a lot of the negative stuff instead of the the real good stuff in college, right? Like that where they teach you that in college anyway, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yes, they do, bruh. They teach you that in college. They like, so if it bleeds, it leaves. So what what I'm trying to say, y'all, when you go into these newspaper stations and you look at what's on the um, I know many people don't read the newspaper now, but when you see what's on the TV screen, or when you see what comes across you on social media, right? On the platforms, whether it's on your phone or your laptop, right, you see the negative stuff always comes first. And you be like, why is that? That's because people in that newsroom decided they know that the crime and the negativity, it gets the most eyeballs. It attracts the most tension, it sells the most newspaper, which means more money, right? More newspapers or more clicks, more views on social media, right? Right. More commercial time on the TV. So they take whatever happens bad first and they put it on the TV screen. And my thing is, nah. And that's one of one of the reasons why they want to go into journalism and stuff, because it's like my voice wants to be heard. I don't want to see the negative. I don't want to see the bad. What about that kid that did well? Yeah, yeah. What about somebody that overcame something in their, you know, in their lifetime and they did better? But see, once you always get gone into that negativity, that's where the problem starts. And they know that. The people in the newsrooms, the people like that, they know that we watch whatever comes first. So that's why when anytime you look and you see something come across that alerts across your feed, you see something come across that TV, it's because they know you're gonna flock to that first. All the bad stuff, all the crimes, all the shooting, anything to do with the drugs, right? Anything bad that happens, they're gonna leave with that first, Jay. And that's what we're trying to show you is like, nah, that negativity is bad, it's toxic, and it just goes into our soul. And we want to show you, yeah, the good, but then it's the bad, right? I mean, with the bad comes the good. Right. Let's have that balance, Jay. Yeah, I want that balance. That's the problem.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. And it's like kind of what Gary V always said. Gary V said, if you look for negativity, you can find it in the world. But if you look for positivity, you can find it in the world as well. And the thing is, we just don't, you know what I'm saying? And my thing is this, Ty, is the money worth all the negativity, negative information and energy that we uh put out in the world? Is the money worth it? Because sometimes it's like, you know, well, we gotta make money, we gotta pay the bills, but is it worth it, though, at the end of the day, when you see the damage that it does around the world all over the internet and everywhere else?
SPEAKER_01No, no, it's not. Because see, you can make your money the right way and have some type of pause or some type of morals to you. You don't have to go all for the negative because you know that's gonna make you the biggest amount of money. Because what you're putting out, if you believe in karma like I do, it's gonna come back around to you.
SPEAKER_00You ain't lying.
SPEAKER_01So if you're into that and you into putting the negative, making up lies, spreading falsehoods all over the internet, spreading it out there, putting it out there because you know it makes you money. What's the saying? All good, all money ain't good money. All money ain't good money. There's a way to make good money and to keep your soul and keep your conscience and move forward. That's right.
SPEAKER_00That's that's that's a fact. You know what I'm saying? Yo, the damage is the damage is in the world uh due to negativity. Like, I'm gonna read this little uh part that I found. Uh, widespread negativity causes significant damage at individual, societal, and global levels, affecting mental and physical health, relationships, economic productivity, and the ability to address complex global issues like political polarization and climate change. And I think that's real right there because when you think about it, um whenever is negative, if something's negative, we could have something on the agenda that we that's very important for the entire world that's gonna help everybody. It takes one piece of negative to get in it, negativity to get in there, and then it's like it goes left or it goes right. You'd be like, yo, what are y'all doing? We trying to talk about this thing that's gonna affect the whole entire world, but that one little piece of negativity just messes everything up for the like globally, like they say, globally. And it's like a you know, um what pastor call it, um, Pastor Man call it mutual insurrect destruction. Because it just it just is like a domino effect. That one piece of negativity can just boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, and it knocks everything else down. You know what I'm saying? So I'm like, yo, it's time to change that um because we've seen enough uh negativity in the world. We have so many examples, and now what I think needs to happen is reverse engineering. Just reverse that thing. Because if we see 100% negativity, if you reverse it, what you gonna see? 100% positivity. Boom. You know what I'm saying? But we don't we don't get that. It's that easy, it's just reverse engineering, you know what I'm saying? So what you think about that, Tyson?
SPEAKER_01I agree, man. I agree. Flipping the script, man, changing that negative thought pattern, man, into positive, and I think life will be a lot better.
SPEAKER_00I agree. And don't go, and here's my thing. Like, I get it, you know, with the podcast and everybody on social media where I gotta talk about the next man in order to get clicks and views. But when you go home, after you get your clicks and views and you get your money, then what? Nothing. I done talked about another man, tore another man down, tore another woman down, whatever, right? And now I go home and I, you know, get to see the fruits of my labor. But the fruits of your labor came from tearing somebody else down though.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And where and who needs that? And there's enough of that negativity all over podcasts, all over the internet. Who wants that?
SPEAKER_00That's what I'm saying, man.
SPEAKER_01So there's enough of that, but what about the good side?
SPEAKER_00Thank you. So damages to individuals. Let's talk about it. Mental and physical health. Uh, so we're talking about chronic exposure to and engagement and negativity is linked to heightened stress, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. I'm gonna read that again, y'all. Mental and physical health. This is the damages to individuals now we're talking about mental and physical health. Chronic exposure to an engagement and negativity is linked to heightened stress, anxiety, depression, and low self-esteem. Physically, it can weaken the immune system, increase blood pressure, disrupt sleep patterns, which gives you insomnia, and raise the risk of serious conditions like heart attacks and strokes. Ain't that crazy what um negativity can do, bro?
SPEAKER_01Real crazy, Jay. Real crazy, especially in all in you know, minority communities, black and brown communities, hypertension, blood pressure, everything is so high. Ask yourself why. Why is that?
SPEAKER_00The negativity, man. But you go outside and you see it too, Tys. Like, you know, you you know, you grew up in the hood, Tys. You was right there. You right, right. You know what I mean? Even though you had to park right across the street. You know what I'm saying? But the thing is, we did have uh uh a lot of things to do. We had outlets, we had sports, we had football, basketball. We see the girls, like I said, playing double dutch back in the day and all that stuff, right? So we had that, but the negativity was there, man. When drugs hit her hit the black community, it wasn't the 80s, it was like the 80s, right? 80s, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01It really does something to the It did a lot to our community. It messed it, it messed a lot of things up, ruined a lot of families, split a lot of families apart, took a lot of people and put them in jail for a long time. It was crazy. It was real crazy.
SPEAKER_00The 80s, I think the 80s was like the the the beginning of it. The beginning of the well, they my my pop and my mom was like the 60s and 70s wasn't no better. It was like it was real crazy then. But the the 80s, man, it was like wow, bro. The drugs came in. We started murdering each other at a at a alarming rate, bro. It was crazy how how fast we was killing each other. But it's like like like they say, man, the mental and physical health that it and and and the problems that it caused with mental and physical health is crazy. Also, cognitive cognitive function, negativity can compromise the effectiveness of brain regions responsible for reasoning and memory and pairing concentration, decision making, and problem-solving abilities. That's crazy, man.
SPEAKER_01That's real crazy. So when you see a lot of young kids out there shooting, stabbings, making impulsive decisions, not thinking things through, a lot of that comes from that negative mindset that they're around or negative environment they're in. It's affecting their ability to think, to be like, nah, I don't need to do that. All right, or or having the right process to stop and just think about not doing the wrong things. That's real.
SPEAKER_00That's real. The next one is personal growth. An overly negative outlook can make individuals risk averse, risk averse, preventing them from exploring new opportunities, learning from mistakes, or achieving their full potential. So personal growth, I can see it because a lot of times, I mean, I'm I I can I can because I was I was that. That was me. That was Jay Allen back in the day, right? My personal growth is stunning my personal growth, the negativity, because it was all around me. You know what I'm saying? I had nothing but them dudes around me, like you know what I mean. Some crazy dudes is around me, man, doing some things, and and then it impacted me. It influenced, like Nip says Nip said it best. If you go outside, you're gonna feel the pressure. If you in a neighborhood, when you go outside, you're gonna feel that. And you might take it on, even though you're like, but nah, I know better. But that influence, man, is crazy, bro. So they so you feel that that uh and it will stunt your your per personal growth. You know what I mean? Parent point play. You know what I'm saying? That's that's a fact. Yes, you know what I mean. Now, um uh let's talk about damages to relationships and society. You know, negativity, right? It can strains relationships. Negativity is a contagious and can create a toxic atmosphere leading to communication breakdowns, lack of trust, social isolation, and conflict and personal and professional relationships. Shh, Tys, you know that's real, bro.
SPEAKER_01I mean you you That's really real. Yeah. That's real in everyday life, and I think it affects a lot of people. Uh, because you know, when you have that negativity, the way you communicate with your spouse, your girlfriend, mom, pops, right? It just bleeds all into you. And when you have that negative cycle around you, it the way you talk and communicate to someone else. What I'm trying to say, Jay, is if everything is swirling around in your world, yeah, and you feeling angry or upset or everything's negative, what you think when you talk to people that's close to you around you, what you think you're putting out there in the world? How you think you talking to them and how you're coming across? Which can damage the relationship, which it definitely damages it all the time.
SPEAKER_00You know what I mean? Being in the music industry, I remember being in the music industry, and then somebody comes uh to the studio and come in with negative, neck being negative, you know what I mean? You'd be like, yo, man, what's wrong with you? To the point where the relationship would just go sour after that. Like, and then everybody would be at the studio be like, yo, we're not coming to the studio if such and such is there. And you'd be like, oh man. So it does strain relationships, man, and it makes it toxic, it makes it bad. And if you got a good thing going, it can just blow it up. And then it's over with game's over.
SPEAKER_01Everybody, I'm thinking everybody knows. You know, you ever been in a room and everybody's having a good time talking about great things or what's going on in their life, and that one person walks in the room and changes the whole vibe. This is what we mean by strained relationships, right? It makes everybody go down, like, man, yo, this girl, this dude got a bad energy with him. Make everything go down. I don't want to be around him.
SPEAKER_00That's right. That's what we're talking about. Yep, yep. Facts, facts. All right, the next one is reduced cooperation, uh cooperation. In group settings, negativity can stall cooperation, encourage gossip, and create a defensive environment which diminishes the quality of human connection and makes routine interactions difficult. Yeah. This is such a fact, especially again in the creative space. You know what I mean? Not only in the creative space, but at um jobs, on jobs, right? And at places of employment. Man, you know, it just the negativity will make a person come and be like, I don't need to cooperate. I don't need to, I can bring this negative. I'm gonna go in this room and destroy all the plans, all the ideas. Um, I don't want nothing. It stalls everything. Like it says, it stalls everything. And it's like, well, what do we do? Well, you gotta get rid of that bad apple, right? Some people say, well, nah, you gotta help them. Now I believe, you know, I'm how I'm big on mental illness, Tyson. And you know what I mean? So if they got mental issues, I believe they gotta go get the help, definitely. Yeah. Right? Oh, oh yes. Number one, they gotta get the help. But if they're just a negative person, they don't talk to, they don't want the they don't want the counseling, they don't want the, it's like, bro, they gotta go, bro. You gotta get rid of these people, man. They just, they're just not good for the program.
SPEAKER_01Removing that energy around you makes your life longer, makes you happier, makes you live longer.
SPEAKER_00The next one's workplace impact. Negativity in the workplace decreases morale, reduces motivation, and can lead to professional uh repercussions, including significant financial costs to businesses due to decreased productivity. It's a fact. But the only thing I'm one thing I don't like right now that's going on in the workplaces is that certain movements shouldn't be in the workplaces. Like you gotta separate everything. Like, I don't care if it's religion or sexuality, you gotta remove that stuff from the workplace because really I see more tension now in the workplace with that going on because you have people that are believing God and you have people that believe in you know certain life lifestyles, right? And you be they just battle all day at the job. You be like, We're not getting nothing done here. You know what I mean? I think it should be a neutral companies need to take on uh and become neutral companies where we don't support nothing. All we support is making money and doing our business. That's it. All that other stuff is just extra, man.
SPEAKER_01It is. And when you come to work, you come to work to do your job and to take care of your family and get your money. Everything else, what that man or that woman got who they pray to, how they dress, that's no part for personal focus to you.
SPEAKER_00That's what I'm saying. Their sexuality is nothing. That sexuality is your is your personal business. That's personal, man. Yes, has nothing to do with you. Why do I need to bring it to work? Why do I need to talk about it? You don't need to know who I'm married to, you don't need to know what I am. Right. I you just don't need to know my name. I work here. You gave me my duties and my tasks. I'm gonna come to work, I'm gonna put my eight hours in, I'm gonna go home to my family. Right, exactly. That's what everybody needs to focus on. Focus on you. But it's like, again, they invite the negativity because they're saying, uh, bring everybody in, tell us how you feel, and tell us what you think and who you are. Now, when you do that, you're opening a Pandora's box because that negativity is gonna come out of people's mouth. The ideas, the negative ideas are gonna come out of their mouth. The negative ways is gonna come out their mouth, and now it's gonna impact your business. That's why companies gotta smarten up, man. They have to smarten up, Tys.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they do, they do, and that's usually like when you start, that's why HR usually brings you in when you first start. And they talk about boundaries and limits, right? And they talk about don't talk about a person's sex, their their religion, you know, uh political things and bring it into the world.
SPEAKER_00You know the crazy part about that, though, not to cut you off, not to cut your wisdom off. But look, check this here. Why y'all put it on applications then, if y'all want nobody to talk about it? You said let's not talk about this, right? Companies put it right on the right on the application.
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah.
SPEAKER_00You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Like so you're saying this is oxymoron. You're saying one thing and doing another. They should stop that. Get rid of all of it.
SPEAKER_00We're here to do a job. This is it. Say the holidays are coming up. If you celebrate the holidays, fine. If you celebrate certain months, fine. Just say it that way. If not, all right, we're here to do a job. Tyson got to do a job, Jay gotta do a job, this person got to do a job. We do it, we knock it out, we make money, boom, gone.
unknownTrue.
SPEAKER_01But my thing is, when did it stop somebody from being a good human? And what I mean by that is just do what you do when you're coming to job for. If they look different to you or whatever, as long as they're not trying to espouse their views, their thoughts, their things upon you, do what needs to be done.
SPEAKER_00Right, right.
SPEAKER_01Because at the end of the day, they're still human like you. That's right. I came to work for a purpose to feed myself and feed my family. That's right. And everything else goes off to the side. Yeah. Right? Yep, yeah. And it does. And because what are you really there for?
SPEAKER_00Yes, yes. The next one, social and political polarization. The human tendencies to focus on negative information contributes to political polarization and a general distrust of others. This can impede progress on critical issues as a lack of consensus and heightened hostility make collaboration on solutions difficult. And that's rare. You know what I mean? It does. It does.
SPEAKER_01It does. Politics tears apart everybody, especially in this day and age where we live in. It'll start an argument with your family, friends, people you thought that was really down with you, it'll tear it all apart really quick. Really? Looking at all sides of the coin. Yeah, or looking at all sides of coins one way or another. So that definitely has to be stopped, right? Because I've seen it too many times.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. But but but the thing is again, don't open the door. You know what I mean? So as owners, we have a job to do where if we start companies or we start anything, we gotta be like, all right, this is what we're doing. This would not be tolerated. We're not discussing this. This will, if anyone reports that you've been doing this, this, that, or bringing any negativity into the which name, you will be pulled into the office. You'll be at a verbal warning, the next one you'll be written up, then the next time you'll that's it, termination. Right. Yes. So that's what it should be. You know what I mean? Now, in the world, what can we do about it on the streets? There's too much we can do about it. Nah. You know what I mean? It's just it is what it is, you know what I'm saying? Right. You know, so but we're gonna get into that part of how you can, you know, get around uh negativity and avoid it and things of that nature. Because again, this is all sides of the coin. You know what we do here. Yeah. We look at all sides of it, you know what I mean. By the way, you can learn a lot from negativity. Pastor teaches us this. He said, without negativity, we don't know what positivity would actually be. I think anyway.
SPEAKER_01Say that again.
SPEAKER_00Without negativity, we wouldn't know what positivity would look like. So you we learn from okay, that's not right now. Unfortunately, a lot of times the results are real horrible. You know, whether it's somebody dying or car wreck or whatever it may be, right? And it's just like, man, you know what I mean? Like, dang, they they had to go through that. But now I know not not the speed, right? Not the speed on the high Highway when it's raining or it's icy out, right? But so so it's like that negative thing happened. What did you learn from it? Hmm. Not to speed. You know what I'm saying? So it's just like we can learn a lot from negativity. You know, I mean we I watched a lot of the homies in the hood and I've seen them going to jail, see them dying, and I was just like, it made me want to change. I'm like, yeah, bro, like I just don't want that. When you go to the funerals and you see all these the homies dead laying in the kitchen, you're like, yo, man. Yeah, I'm done, bro.
SPEAKER_01I'm done. It makes you reflect and look back on life, don't it?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and you just be like, I don't want that. And you look over at your little girl or your little boy, you're like, Yeah, they need me. Yeah, I'm done with that. I'm done. But it was that negative thing that you you're sitting there watching that this this dude that's your age is in the casket. And you like, yeah, I'm done.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's home, Jay.
SPEAKER_00Don't have yo, you go home and be like, I ain't doing nothing. I'm I'm I'm done. Everybody, everybody thought I was crazy that one point where I was just getting rid of everything. I was handing the homies work out and here, here, I'm done. It was like, man, what's wrong with you, man? It was like seeing my brother, you know what I mean, in that casket. And it was just like, that was it for me. And I was like, there's something wrong with the boy Jay, man. It was like, like, ain't nothing wrong with me. I just don't want to be, I don't want to go down that negative route no more. I got music, you know what I'm saying? I got gifts and talents. I'm gonna tap into that. I got a little girl who needs me. You know what I'm saying? Then I got you know, another little girl, and I got my two my sons and my wife. I'm out. I'm I'm done, bro. I'm done. And they thought something was wrong. They was like, man, yo, you tripping, man. You ain't what's up? I'm done. That's what's up. What's wrong? And after that, no lie, Tys, I lost. They wasn't real friends anyway, but I lost all those homies. All them friends.
SPEAKER_01You chose a better part, you chose a better path in your life, Jay. This ain't gonna get me nowhere.
SPEAKER_00Death or jail? Because I seen it. Uh I went to a lot of funerals and my little brother's funeral. So it was like, yo, I'm like, nah, I'm good, bro. And the next one we got is uh, what's the next one we got, Tyson?
SPEAKER_01The next one is impeding progress on global issues. Now, a lot of people have seen this, right? Widespread negativity built up by the news and social media, hyping it up, can distort perceptions of reality, right? And hinder collective action required to address global challenges like climate change and public health crisis. We've seen this all throughout the internet, right? We've seen all the fake things that people put on around the world, right? You got people saying there's no such thing as climate change. But Jay, that there's no such thing that, you know, there ain't holes in the ozone layers to protect them. Man, think about when we was young. When was the last time it really snowed like how it did when we were kids? Right? You got scientists and people that spent all their life going to school and you got the government, you have Trump, you have other individuals saying, nah, that's not real. Climate change ain't real. Right? The world is not gone right. You see what I'm saying? You got people saying the earth ain't flat and it catches wind and it goes on and on and on. That's bad. Because what happens is when things do happen and come across, it affects millions of people across the world. Right? If you tell them that don't happen and something happens with a big weather and people get you, you know, people don't go and move, right? They can also die. Okay. When you when you have big public health crisis or something that comes one in a hundred years and all the lies come out on social media, who's it affecting? Because people are going to die. Yeah. And that's what the issue is. That's a big issue with doing that and stopping it and just helping people all around the world.
SPEAKER_00Negativity impacts all of that, man. It's just it just. Oh man, this thing is crazy. That's all I can say. Negativity is like a big ball of fire, man. Yeah. That is just it can it cause so much damage. In essence, pervasive negativity creates a cycle of stress, anxiety, and distrust that erodes the foundation of individuals' well-being and societal cooperation, ultimately hindering global progress and human flourishing.
SPEAKER_01Yes, Jay. And it's big. And once you do that and you put that out there because you got an agenda and you ain't ready for people to grow, right? Then it's bad. Think about just now. We have the SNAP benefits going on, right? We have people blaming poor people for being on Snap. But the thing is, there's a lot of working people that get those benefits. The thing is, the majority of people are getting hurt by it are babies and kids not going to eat. Why is that? Because you got one side saying blaming another side, but it's really the one side that's causing all that pain. Now, they finally got it back, right? And I just seen something come over through my feed. A lot of federal workers lost their jobs, right? Now they said the rhymes, the minds of homes in the DMV area, people putting them up for sale. Like, so that little time they've been out because the government shut down, they can't afford it. People are hurting. But you're putting out this stuff. It's affecting everybody.
SPEAKER_00That's a fact.
SPEAKER_01And it got it gotta stop.
SPEAKER_00It has to. But again, because we can, we do, right? Because we got free will. God gave us free will. You know what I mean? One of the greatest things he ever gave us was free will. Free will is to be able to make to have the choice to do right or wrong whenever you want. You know what I mean? You want to go do something wrong, you can. You want to go do something right, you can, right? And then they created capitalism and money and you know in the United States and everything, and it became all about money. So when it became about money, I think it just clouds the judgment, right? It clouds whether you want to be positive or negative. It just messes everything up because I'm going after the money. And when you find that other people that did negative things went after the money, then what do what usually happens, Tys? That's how they got it. Yeah. Yes. I'm going to get it too then. That's how it works. Yeah. Yeah, that's usually how it works. You know what I mean? He went and got the money that way. I'm going to go get the money that way. You know what I mean? They don't want it, they people just making these decisions. Now we're going to get into the ways to navigate beyond the negativity. Yes. Right?
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00To get beyond all this negativity that's going on around you in the world, you know, through social media, whatever. Let's go. So look, to navigate beyond uh negativity, you can focus on actionable strategies that build resilience, foster positive thought patterns, and help you establish healthy boundaries. This approach empowers you to manage your internal world regardless of external stressors. Y'all get that? Your internal world regardless of external stressors. So strategies for positive outlook is set boundaries, cultivate uh resilience, practice self-care, mindfulness and uh mediation, uh I'm sorry, mindfulness and meditation, uh, physical activity, nourishing foods, and adequate rest, refrain from negative thoughts, limit exposure to negativity, focus on gratitude and kindness, and seek support, man. I think those are all good, Tysh. Like, especially the whole thing of limiting exposure to negativity. Be mindful of the media you consume and the social interactions you engage with.
SPEAKER_01I agree, man. I agree. So everybody has to set boundaries. We all got family and we all got friends, and you know the ones that are negative. For peace of mind and for where you need to go and what you want to be in life, in my opinion, you gotta set boundaries. We talked about the negative. So here's the positive, right? So if you out there struggling and you're wondering what to do, set the own boundaries with yourself, whether they're family or friends. Cut them off if you have to. Because that brings it on, it raises your blood pressure, it makes you angry, it makes you, right? They they break your whole mood down. Let it go. Be resilient, be strong, right? In it, right? Because you'll feel better when you go forward. And I like to talk about the meditation which you were talking about, Jay. Yeah, yeah. You know, a lot of people in this day, back then it was it was uh different drugs now with uh the heroin and the pills and all that. You got a lot of people who are gone, right? I think before you get to that path where you're going to, I think meditation is good, right? Because a lot of people was dealing with other issues and they use it to self-medicate, right? And I remember J. Cole said something like that in one of his songs, and he said, pray on it and meditate. And if you don't know what meditation is, take that time to yourself, breathe and think deeply, give positive thoughts about yourself. And I think that's one way that can help you, right? Seek help and go out. Don't isolate yourself from people. If you're having those issues, reach out, right? And then get out. And they say exercise boosts your energy so much. Makes your whole day go so much better. Yeah. I've been there like everybody else. I had weight, lost weight, right? Right, right. And then when I do it, it makes me feel so much better. But when I'm putting on me and I eat and I lay down, I feel so sluggish, Jay, and don't want to do anything. That's a fact. Just being honest. That's real. It's like, man, I ate this food, I'm gonna go ahead and lay down. That's just the way it is. But when I was when I'm working out and doing things, I got so much more energy, I feel so much more better.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, that's a fact. That's a fact. Um, I like to cultivate resilience, strengthen your ability to recover from setbacks. This involves um viewing challenges as opportunities for growth rather than dwelling on past mistakes and focusing on solutions rather than problems. Um, we all go through that, um, through setbacks in life, period, right? Um, whether it's, you know, it happened uh uh from birth, right? Because sometimes you're born into a family that things is going wrong and you're gonna suffer from setbacks. Then sometimes it's for societal, right? It's from society because again, we're all connected together in this global thing, really. You know what I mean? So it is, you know, um you to ensure destruction, like Pastor Man had uh stated a while back. That it's a trickle effect, it's gonna hit all of us, right? But when you go through them um setbacks, you gotta cultivate resilience. You gotta focus on the positivity and not the negativity. Because the negativity keeps you in a space where it can be real dark. You know what I mean? And you gotta get yourself out of them dark rooms and them dark places, you know, you'll think that the world is crumbling every day around you. You you won't move. You know what I'm saying? If you don't cultivate resilience, you just I've been there before where I was just in bed, wake up, sit on the same couch, watch the same negative shows, be around the same negative people, and it's like, bro, it does it does nothing. It does nothing. You know what I'm saying? You gotta get out around net uh positive people. You gotta say, I want better, I want more, I can do whatever I want to do. I'm gonna go on after. Yes, this set me back, but that was yesterday. Today's a new day. Let me go after. Oh, I agree. Oh, no, I agree. That's it. So practice self-care is the other one. Self-love, self-love, self-care, right? Yes. Remember, we we talked about this on our one episode where you know, um, slavery did a number on us, you know what I mean? And so it's like we don't have no self-love and self-care. Um, but I think now it's 2025, it's time to implement that. It's time to understand what and if you don't understand what any of this stuff is, get a dictionary. You know what I mean? Download it on your phone, look up the definitions on your phone. You got your phone all day. Look up the definitions of what a lot of this stuff is, and then just go and uh implement it into your life.
SPEAKER_01You're right. And then I know for those of the sports fans, you might have heard when Terrell says, I love me some me, right? And people laughed. And I laughed too, but you gotta love yourself first before you spread love to anybody else, right? So have them posit, let's have some positive thoughts, let's have some positive energy. If you want to rut or this and that, talk to somebody. Work it out, right? You got preachers, you got people that you can talk to in your family, right? And then put a different spin on it, right? Like this is just temporary right now, but you know what? I'm gonna come up out of this. And that's what it's all about, Jay. In my opinion, that's what it's all about.
SPEAKER_00I agree, I agree. And I I'll definitely love um you you spoke on physical activity. Physical act physical activity can definitely uh make you feel better if you get out and work out and you do the things and just take a walk sometimes.
SPEAKER_01That's what that's what I was gonna say, because that's I'm I'm too old now to be running up and down that court, Jay. I ain't gonna lie to you. My knees being I'm sorry, but it'd be killing me even I want to get out there. Nah, Tyson. It made me feel so good when I played, right?
SPEAKER_00So you still can't hit them them 15 footers, you can't you can't hit them with 15 footer no more, Tys. Come on, man.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, standing and still, but if I get out here with your sons and them young boys, it's oh Lord, what am I? What are you doing? This ain't for me. I can't walk down that I love sports like it was a big part of my life. Like I said, I walked right in front of a park. But what I'm saying is, now, when I did the other things like walking and stuff, that helped. It helps out a lot. During the COVID, I did it a lot because I was going star crazy sitting in the house.
SPEAKER_00Well, let me ask you this. Let me ask you this.
SPEAKER_01I walked a lot. And it would help me a lot.
SPEAKER_00How about that negative setback where you go to the doctors, your knees ain't got it no more. Mm-hmm. Sports is people that in sports, you know what I mean? That that's some that can really hurt you.
SPEAKER_01It can really be heavy and hurt people, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But so what do they do? What do people who are sports dudes that they get that bad news, you know what I'm saying? Like we have homies that went out and because their knees was bad or whatever, they come home and you be like, it's done. And it's like, your career. And it can save them on a negative spiral. Yes, yes, it can.
SPEAKER_01It can. And I and I've seen it, and I've seen it personally, and it can send them on that negative spiral, right? But then this is when family and friends around them have to come out and support. And here's where you you have to realize, okay, life is not over. I realized this was what my life was about, and where I thought I was gonna go, right? But I'm gonna switch gears and do something different. I'm gonna try to find something because sports was my life or whatever your thing was, right? And I gotta put different energy into it, right? Maybe bowling, maybe walking, right? You gotta pick up a different thing and get around with other like-minded folks. But what's that dude?
SPEAKER_00What's that dude that's like, man, but football was my life? You were talking about bowling.
SPEAKER_01Well, here's what I would say, especially with football. You're only gonna play it so much anyway, because it's so physical, right? So now you gotta realize I got more life to live. I got understand it hurts and the dreams and the stuff were gone, but I got more life to live. I might you might have family, right? You have friends, you have your mom, your pops, everybody that loves you more, and you're more than just that sport, right? Just like how they say you make the money, money doesn't make you. Okay. Okay, right, right. You gotta start thinking that, say, but that was just a part of my life, and I was great at it and stuff, but it's time to move on to the next part.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but you know how that beats. Man, I've been doing this since four years old. I always wanted to be a become an Eagle, you know, a Philadelphia Eagle. I always wanted to play for this team or that team. You know what I mean? And once you get to news, it's tough.
SPEAKER_01I'm not saying it's easy. And when you did that, especially in sports, because we build, build them up, build them up to almost like God-like status, right? So that downfall is real tough, right? But what I'm saying to you is you are more than just that sport. That's real. That's right. Right? That's true. And you come from a family and friends and people who truly care about you, right? So if you're having trouble making that transition, right, reach out. It's gonna be okay. Yeah, don't turn to other things, you're gonna be fine. That's rare. And that's what I wanted to get back to about the walking. Now, my basketball days is done, Jay. Run up and down the court like that. But I like to walk and it felt good, and then I gotta get back to it. Being honest with you.
SPEAKER_00So it didn't affect you at all times, it didn't make you go, tag man, like mentally, it didn't because this thing that you loved all your life and now you can't do it no more.
SPEAKER_01Oh, it did, but then once I once I realized I could walk, right? And then I got to a certain part in my age, it's like, okay, I was doing it because I did it so much, and it helped me because the doctor said go to the gym. And I got lazy, and I was like, going to the gym, basketball keep keeps me going, right? And so once I did that, he was like, Well, you gotta pick up and do something else. Right, right. And I was like, Okay, well, I was at the age I'm past going pro. And I'm like, okay, all this walking is good. Get my get my best tunes on, be dancing, moving and grooving, right? I just be walking. I be like, and I felt good.
SPEAKER_00Okay, well, y'all heard it from from the man himself, the legend, the legend that used to be on Pim Park, dropping about 30, 40 on them. You know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_01I used to love, but I still do. I love basketball. I love sports, you know. And I it's a great outlet for for anybody that wants to get it. Female or male. Hey, college, and I know I'm going on a little bit, but I just wanted to say the the women is coming up, man. The college basketball and the pro basketball. Yeah, they're doing their thing. I think the levels have changed, you know, from from I was high school now. They're doing their thing, just like they're doing their thing.
SPEAKER_00Shout out to the to the to the you know, I mean WNBA, men and all the women that's in in the watch at all.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. You know, I like them. I'm not gonna lie, I like their style of basketball better in the NBA. Yeah, yeah. You know what? The way they play, just their style. That's an athletic as the men, but just the style of basketball that I grew up in, what I like and what I think the game should be. I like I like the way they play the game, man.
SPEAKER_00That's what's up. That's what's up. So, yo, the next ones we're gonna talk about is nourishing foods and adequate rest. Yes. Prioritize sleep and a balanced diet to support emotional balance and energy levels. Getting the right foods in your body and sleep is uh, you know, you know, I do vegan, right? So, you know, I know you don't do vegan type slice, like nah, I won't do no daggores.
SPEAKER_01It helped, miss. I'm gonna get there slowly but surely, hopefully. Just pray for me, y'all.
SPEAKER_00But the fruits and vegetables are real good for you, yo. I'm not gonna lie. And getting that, what they say, eight hours of sleep, right? From what I've heard is like if you're getting that eight to 12 hours, though, they said the body's sick. They said, so you should be able to get less rest, like like five to six hours and you're good to go. They say, because if you're getting all them hours of sleep, that means the body's sick and something's wrong, and the body's trying to fix itself. You know, now I don't know how true it is, but uh I read it somewhere that that's what it is. If you're getting too much rest, the body's trying to actually heal itself. Yeah, man. Yeah, you're right. So um the thing is if you get five to six hours, you're eating right, you're gonna feel way better. I'm not gonna front. You will, you will feel better. Let's go to the next one. Limit exposure to next negativity. Be mindful of the media you consume and the social interactions you engage with. Consciously, choose to limit your exposure to toxic information and people. You are in control of your inputs. The great Nori Muhammad stated that we should be putting things like food, uh uh putting foods and energy in our bodies that are are tonic, not toxic. You know what I mean? Tonic, not toxic. Tonic is what's good for you, toxic is what's bad for you. So you you gotta be mindful of that. Limit exposure to the negative tech negativity. That includes uh, again, food, um media, you know what I'm saying, news, all this stuff, man. It's just who you who you uh conversate with, who you're around. Limit your exposure to negativity. You have to limit that, man. Seriously. I think that's so, so, so important. But a lot of times people go, Well, I love being around people, and I'm like, Yeah, but you can be around positive people. You ain't gotta be around negative people, though. But I hear people say that. So the next one, focus on gratitude and kindness. Regularly practicing gratitude can shift your focus towards the positive aspects of your life. Engaging in kind deeds can provide a sense of purpose and joy. Yes, that's a fact. That's why I like to, you know, um, I used to be at Andrew's gifts um for autism. You know what I mean? I used to set up all the iPads for the kids. Yeah, that that brung me joy. Yeah, you know what I mean. Just saying that I'm helping families and I'm setting up iPads for the kids. Um, and man, seeing them kids smile, man, and and and the parents smile. I'm like, this is gonna help my child that has autism. Bro, yeah, you know what I mean. My kids, I used to have my kids, um, their grandmother used to take them down to the food bank to give out food and help. So I've been doing it with my kids and and and I've been doing it for a while now, man. And it does, you know, focusing on gratitude and kindness. And I'm and I'm grateful for everything I have. Great friends, family, and all that, man, because I was going on a path, man, where it was getting crazy, man. I still got the bullet lodged in my hand right here, bro. It was, yeah, it was it was still got a lot of marks and stabs and wounds from the bullets and knives, and it was crazy, Tyson. I was like, my mom was like, my mom used to say, I thought I was gonna have to bury you first before I had to bury your little brother. Yeah. So it was, it was, you know what I mean. That's why I said I had to switch. Remember, reverse engineering though. Remember, I keep saying that. Reverse engineering, man. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. Which goes into you know, this note that I I I said it spoken about it early in the in the podcast, but I'm gonna say it again. The great Pastor Slayer Mann um said one time, without negativity, we wouldn't know or understand positivity. So, you know, so that's the other side of the coin that we uh that we understand because of the negativity. But I believe that uh we have had a million and one examples of negativity and the horrible results of it. And now I think it's time to um reverse engineer that thing so that we can get a you see a lot of.
SPEAKER_01I agree. I I like that I like that reverse engineering what you're talking about. Because that's what it is, Tyson.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, here's the crazy part about negativity. We can set somebody up, line somebody up so perfectly where they get killed. Imagine if you take that much energy and reverse that thing.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00What can what's gonna happen? You won't take all I'm talking about, all the planning, all the the phone calls, the texting, whatever it may be that you was lining that person up, and you reverse engineer that thing now, the greatest results happen. Way better results. Nobody dies, nobody goes to jail, some a lot of good stuff happens. You know what I mean? I just don't think we understand reverse engineering, and that can you can that you can apply that to all spectrums of life. You know what I mean? Period.
SPEAKER_01Because we already know the outcomes of all the negative thoughts. You can look around in your neighborhood, in your city, on social media, and you could see all the bad things that come from the negative stuff that we talked about earlier, Jay. You can see it. So why not go to the positive? Why not put some of these things that we talked about and put them in, right? Just start thinking to yourself in your mind, step by step, you can make the change. Listen to what Jay just said, how he changed his life, right? Listen to some of the things that we talked about, right? Personally. Sit down and ask yourself, just alone one time. I know you're tired of it. I know there's a lot of people that are tired of it, Jay. Living that negative life. They might don't know how to get out of our cycle.
unknownBreak away.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But you'll see a whole world difference if you change the people around you. That's right. Then you start changing yourself for your mind, right? And that's all we want is for you to have a have a positive outlook and feel better about yourself and life.
SPEAKER_00That's it. And make sure you check out programs in your neighborhood. If there's no programs, go jump online. It might be programs 20 miles from you, 30 miles from you, that you can go to. We're about to start the York Empowerment Center, and then we'll have the Harrisburg Empowerment Center. These are going to be for computer job training. It's going to be for music education with me being in the music business for so long. I'm going to be teaching kids how to make and make tracks, mix, engineer, everything. You know what I'm saying? We're going to do videography. I'm going to bring my man Mike from 720 Films and a lot of other people in to show the kids how to do videography as well. So these programs, me and Tyson, we're going to be setting up. So, you know, and we'll be having Vans to come out to pick up the kids in the whole nine. So, you know what I mean? You know, we we're trying to, you know, this is what happens when YC and Harrisburg link up, though. You understand what I'm saying? Yes, yes. So that's that's a that's a positive thing. That's a positive thing. That's a positive thing. So when YC at Harrisburg link up, it breeds greatness because both the city uh breeds greatness anyway. So, you know, I mean, it is what it is. You know what I mean? Before I let you go, Tys, real quick, before we roll out. Yes. What are the things you geek out over, Tys? I geek out over cameras. You know what I'm saying? Because September 9th and November 6th, Canon released some what let me tell you something. The C the C50 was released, the Canon um C50, and then the Canon EOSR 6 Mark III. Yo, Canon. Holler at your boy, man. Because we we shoot everything here at our podcast with Canon. Okay. So holla at us. We want, we, we, you know, I mean, I'll I'll I'll take a R6 Mark II. You know what I mean? You know what I mean? I'll I'll take that. Yo, but what is what some of the things you uh geek out over, man?
SPEAKER_01Well, man, at this stage of my life, I geek out over some other, you know, a lot of things. I don't know, it's some eagles, man. I can't, sometimes I just can't shake it. I go through a range of goddamn emotions. I do. And the older I get, the same, the worse I get. I just want us to win. And when you got off a rumoring and you feel like you got somebody with the keys to drive a killer, you just get mad. That's true. And that's all because I suffered so long, and I just want to keep winning and winning. Oh, I had to hear from all them commanders fans and all them cowboys fans. I want us to be on top and fly. Yeah. So I keep getting over that, but I I get better, but I go through my range. I know you call me sometimes and I'll be on, and I just I'll be going through it. I do. And I sometimes I look, I'm a grown man. What I'm doing like this, but I just like to win. To win, and I want us to win because it's a big thing.
SPEAKER_00Bow after bow after bow. I want them all.
SPEAKER_01That's real. So they can't say no more to me. Well, I mean, Alex got five, and everybody got this. No, we got them all. We run it in the 21st century.
SPEAKER_00Go, Eagles, go. So, yo, speaking of that, we like to uh send our condolences and our prayers out to the family of the young man from the Dallas Cowboys who passed away. You know what I mean? So, you know, and it's a real thing, man. You know, so um, man, condolences and prayers go out to the family, man.
SPEAKER_01Yes. But uh uh please, if you're going through something, please seek help. We don't want you to leave this earth. We don't your mom and your pops made you, and you was on this earth for a purpose. Yeah. We we go through things, and sometimes it can be overwhelming when you think there's no way out. Please reach out. Yes. Because someone loves you. Yeah. And we don't we don't want you to leave the earth by you, what happened with the young man. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yes, that's a fact. That's a fact. So, yo, make sure y'all like, subscribe, share with a friend, comment, leave your comments. Please leave your comments below uh about what y'all geek out over. You know what I'm saying? Like we like to know what y'all geek out over. You know what I'm saying? And again, if you're going through any negative, you ain't going through any depression or anything, make sure, you know, you reach out there. The helplines out there, there's programs. We'll leave stuff in the comments of the programs you can, you know, uh in your area or whatever. Make sure, well, when you leave your comments, we'll we'll try to find places in your area that has uh that have helplines and things like that, maybe that you can um reach out to and get the help. So, yo, until next time, make sure you take care of yourselves, all right? Peace.
