I was tallying it up last 40 days. Uh, when I got back on Thursday, I was I think I was 31 of 40 on the road, so I was starting to feel it a bit. The conditioning, as good as it is for a podcaster, I was starting to wear out, bro. I was like, get me the fact off the road, especially the last shift I did when we did Philly, New York City. I flew right to the guts of Utah for game four. And I went to Chicago for my buddy Louis Ellis' wedding. Like the only buddy I have left from Verona, Wisconsin, shout out. So I did that Friday, Saturday, got back Sunday, and then went and met Bob Gucci and JB Snow, aka Bennington in Diddy Wood, and we did our sketch. But after that, I was fucked. I was like, I gotta get home, dude.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's that's a long shift. And I wanted to ask, how do you so the guys who are are making the video, they're from LA, or why did you decide to do it there?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so they're they're two kids actually really cool dudes. Um two years out of college. One kid went to Penn State, one guy went to Boulder, but they're childhood buddies from Colorado, like the Colorado Springs Fort Collins area. And they played hockey growing up. Uh well, the one dude played club hockey at Penn State, the other fella just you know went to Boulder and did everything under the sun. So these dudes are working for Bookett Sports now. So basically, they're like their paid editors and producers, but they're two kids that have high aspirations, like they want to go full Goodwill hunting and write their own scripts and movies, and so they're out in Hollywood now. Um, and obviously they need to make ends meet, so they do stuff for Book at Sports, like with editing and stuff. But the real like bread and butter is actually doing short films and um trying to produce movies, which is pretty crazy to think about. Like they're going for it all, which I fucking love.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I I wouldn't even know how to break into that uh no that industry. I don't I wouldn't even know where to start. That's that's gotta be such a grind, but also so fun because you kind of just I mean you gotta pave your own path, kind of when you're doing that. Like, you can there's so many different options for when you're directing a video and what to do with it. I I I can't even imagine like where would you begin?
SPEAKER_02I know so that that's I was asking him about it because we had the one kid Camera, he was over in Milan with us, and that's where we really got to know him like firsthand. But basically, what they do without you know going full Harvey Weinstein and having to suck a wrench is basically they produce these independent short films. So these films are anywhere from 12 to 20 minutes, they raise money uh for them. They're actually going up to Seattle, aka Pronoun Town, this week and doing a short form film, which is gonna be like a week of shooting, and then they'll chop it down to like you know 15 minutes more or less. And they direct the whole thing, they produce one of the guys, Ethan, actually acts in it as well. So yeah, and then you you take these films also and you shop them around to like these at these film festivals, film festivals. So you go to like you know, the the Montreal Film Festival or the Chicago Film Festival, all these different ones all over the country or the world, and that's how you kind of get recognized. Like they're one on YouTube I think has you know, for just starting off, I think it's got over like 50,000 views, which is pretty cool.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, that's sick.
SPEAKER_02So that's their thing, and then they do like drama short form is kind of their their thing. It's like horror and drama is their, I guess, genre, if you will. So yeah, it's pretty cool. But the stuff that we do tying it all back together, that's like that's clockwork for them, you know what I mean? Like that's that's easy. So we roll in there, they you know, they they actually live together just outside of West Hollywood, they got a nice little shack, garage, and they set up, you know, one of their buddies was a drummer, a guitarist. So they set up the whole, you know, um, basically just the whole set for us. Yeah, and we went in there and just you know, put the fishnet on and rocked it out.
SPEAKER_00And did you go with your script? Like you just handed them a script and said, Yeah, this is what I'm doing. Like, are they choosing the camera angles or you do it? Do you have a say in that when you're kind of if you're the one making the video?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, a little bit. I mean, they know what they're doing, but you know, we've worked with a ton of camera guys at this point, too. And you know, you kind of learn the different nuances of of what you want, but yeah, you you kind of just work hand in hand. That script I wrote was basically, you know, just for the concept and you know, kind of just getting a storyline out there, even though we didn't really have a storyline going into it. We just went in there and just I'm like, all right, well, roll the tape. You kind of, you know, every guy knows their character. Let's go. Um, so it's gonna be pretty funny because you know, Binner, I mean, he's an Olympic goalie, and you know, he's got this image he has to hold up to. Um, but he did a good job. He wasn't he didn't go full retard like us, let's put it that way. But he was good in his role. And I kind of wrote the you know, the character based around that, right? Like a kind of like uh, you know, the the lead singer that doesn't want the limelight but wants it. Um you know, kind of like the stud or star of the group. So um it'll be pretty funny, man, when we chop it up and and get it all together. It's just hilarious that Binner's in it, you know what I mean? Like it's just gonna be so funny.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, it's gonna be all time. I can't wait to see that. Uh those those behind the scenes clips were hilarious.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. I mean, I was literally in a fishnet with fake tattoos on my nipples were out. People were messing with it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, where'd you get the fake tattoos? I was wondering that they looked pretty good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they were. There were just those washable ones too, where you put the you know, the the cum rag on it, you just you know put it on there. I still the one just came off today. Um, they were holding pretty strong, man. So it was you know, at least five or six showers, some workouts to get those off. So they're uh that's that's kind of that's that's holding on pretty good there. Fuck yeah, yeah, it was it was pretty good. We were uh I mean Hollywood is just a disgusting. I mean, we were staying at the Roosevelt, which is like one of the old school kind of iconic hotels that's old. It's it's decent, it's not like you're staying at the four seasons or anything, but um, right in the guts, dude. We rolled in there, you know, right onto sunset and Hollywood Boulevard. Like it was that place is how is that place doing?
SPEAKER_00I I I don't know if I haven't seen that place in a long time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was it's not great. It's every dude thinks he's a chick, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_00It's it's and it's a little different too because like aren't they making movies now in Texas and stuff? So like New Mexico, yeah, like not all the actors are there anymore, like it used to be, but that I mean, obviously, there's still most of them, but yeah, yeah, there's still a few.
SPEAKER_02I mean, we we filmed that, then we went to uh that Theo Von Mike Tyson show that night. Um, got hooked up with Theo's manager, this dude named Bizzle. He's a cool, he might help us out actually for HB3. But we went and saw that live pod with with Mike and and Theo, it was so funny. And then um afterwards had a night. Actually, Obes came too, was it was pretty good. But did you I don't know if it's gonna be out there, but um Mike got Theo to say the N-word, which was hilarious.
SPEAKER_00No way, yeah. You gave him permission to say the hard R or what?
SPEAKER_02Oh, he now it wasn't a hard R, it was just the A, but he was like, if you don't say it, you know, he kind of gave him that look like I'm gonna knock you the fuck out. Um Theo was what are you supposed to do when your hands are tied like that against the channel? Yeah, you got him, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I I like Theo's skit when he says he he thinks it. He doesn't say it, but he, you know, you know, those there's those times you think it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, it was pretty cool meeting him. Like, um, you know, after a show, too, you don't want to be like going and be beauty overload, be like, oh yeah, I've got a podcast, I do this, that you know, I mean, like, so it was cool to meet him and get, you know, obviously we got the picture with him, but um, you know, I was telling him about the skit that we were doing. He's like, because the skit was based around Louisiana Rockers, like a struggling Louisiana band out of Shreveport. He's like, Oh man, like Louisiana, like you got the fishnet. I'm like, Yeah, bro, I wore the fishnet. He's like, Oh, but did you wear an actual fishnet? I'm like, Nah, I just bought one at some cross dresser store in Diddywood. He's like, Oh shit, you know, so he was pretty cool. Um, yeah, yeah, it was it was fun meeting him, man. I mean, obviously, I love listening to him, and uh his stuff is sick.
SPEAKER_00He's so big time now, yeah.
SPEAKER_02He's just seems like a beauty too, like talking to him and um, you know, even talking to his manager, uh Bizzle, um, is a is a beauty too. He's a good Windsor, Ontario fella. Uh tours with Theo. And apparently, I guess, you know, I didn't even know it, but it was it was comedy week in Diddy Wood the whole time. It was like the Netflix is a joke series. I don't the Kevin Hart.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I saw that picture of all those people together. Yeah, yeah. I was wondering if you were in and around all those people because that would have been that would have been sick.
SPEAKER_02I know we had a uh I got an invite to the comedy store that night, but uh the sprinter van took us elsewhere. We we went up at a different bar, karaoke bar in in Hollywood. But yeah, I would have loved to go. I mean, there was all the big timers there, Gillis, Norman, even the Chappelle was there.
SPEAKER_00Uh-huh. What's a guy like Theo Vaughn doing after those shows, Jordo? Is he just chilling or is like he's hanging out with a bunch of people? Like, what's he doing?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he had some buddies there. Uh, he had a gal there. I don't know if it was an RFA or just uh his gal of the night. Um, but he was just like whacking his vape and just like chopping it up with people, you know, because it's such a you're you're on such a high and a relief. Like that was his first live podcast ever, man. He was like really nervous getting on stage, which was crazy to see.
SPEAKER_00Really?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, like he was like he sat down, he had like he's like, Oh, like he had to gather himself like four or five times, like damn, like uh, and you could see it in his face. Like, and I've seen him do stand-up before, even on his early days, never seen him like that. And he was so nervous. And then Mike came out and they got it rolling. Um, but you could tell he was really nervous, which is crazy because the theater, you know, was probably like 2,300 people. It was the Wiltern Theater uh in Koreatown, but that dude's doing you know 20,000 seat venues, like it was it was kind of crazy to see him that nervous, to be honest.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's I mean, that goes to show like you're never not gonna be nervous when you get up there and perform something. Like, no matter how many times you do it, you're still gonna be like, Oh fuck, this is yeah, this is scary.
SPEAKER_02For sure, yeah. I mean, just like even like the pregame jitters, right? For if you're playing hockey, but then you gotta realize like you're only one dude up there with a mic, like you don't have any teammates, which is is tough.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it's it it would be so nerve-wracking. Like, well, because you know, doing these podcasts, you can if you if you fuck something up, you can edit it out. But if you're doing it live, yes, you know, you you gotta nail it 100%.
SPEAKER_02And I would even say, you know, stand-up is one thing, it's usually scripted, but I would say even just the live podcast element, even though he's bouncing off mic, like he still's gotta come up with questions in the moment in real time. Like it's just adds a whole different element of like in your mind of stress of the improv. Like, I gotta be funny, I don't have anything really scripted. How is you know, if this goes one way, how do I bounce off? And then you do the more you think about it, you're just overthinking versus just kind of being in the moment and be like, Yo, I'm funny, like, I'm good for sure, for sure. I that's probably what he was feeling, but you could tell he was relieved like after the show.
SPEAKER_00And oh, it's gonna be the best feeling when it's done.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it was it was a cool show, man. It was there was this, it was just an like a there's an array of characters in there, including myself with a tie to go jack. But there was like a dude that was in there that was like running, he said he was running for the mayor of LA, and then he smoked a joint with us afterwards because he said he was gotta be a man of the people, and he was high as hell, talking my fucking ear off. I'm like, buddy, I don't live in LA, like I'm not gonna be able to vote. He's like, Oh yeah, but it you put it on Instagram, it goes a long way. The algorithm, this I'm like, fella, I don't live in LA.
SPEAKER_00Like, I'm not shouting, I'm not, I'm not shouting you out trying to get you elected, man.
SPEAKER_02No, dude, like I have zero skin in this game. I will never, well, I shouldn't say never, but I will 99% sure I will never live in Diddy Wood, you know what I mean? Like, if it's anywhere in California, it's not gonna be in the LA city limits. Yeah, so that was pretty funny. There was just uh, yeah, man, it was it was cool, but um Ozzo, I uh before we we we kind of get into some other things, um, just on I guess a more serious note, wanted you just to touch on um Olsa's brother, um, just what's going on there and and how people can donate and things like that. Um, teammate good man, Trevor Olsen, his his brother's going through a tough spell, man. And um, I just want you to touch on that a little bit. Uh, don't mean to put you on the spot, but uh just just wanted to bring that up for the Olson family, man.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, no, great, great to bring that up for anyone listening. Um, Trevor Olsen, his brother, his his brother's wife, who just kind of had a newborn baby, um, has another young kid. Um, just passed from, I believe it was colon cancer. Uh so Olsa's brother Troy, Troy Olson, he's you know, obviously got a challenge in front of him that probably never leaves you the rest of your life, and on top of having to raise two young kids. So I think there's a GoFundMe um to help Troy out with any of the the medical costs it it it it costs to you know keep her alive. I think she was diagnosed like a little over a year ago, so she had been battling it for a little while. And I know she had, you know, I had talked to Olse before about it just to see what her treatment was like, what she was up to. I know she tried pretty much everything you can try, Giordo. So um she tried the you know the Joe Rogan stuff, she tried the you know the stuff the doctors were were telling her to do, and you know, ultimately nothing uh nothing ended up working. Um so if you do have a little extra spare coin laying around, feel free to toss it over to Troy Olson. Um man, it's uh that one's a tough one to talk about, Jordo. It's like as bad as it gets. It's like the yeah, it doesn't get worse. It's like a living, it's like living hell, you know.
SPEAKER_02I know, man. When when I when I found out that news and Derek Forbert, for the folks that know him, um former UND defenseman, national hockey leaguer of the last decade, uh, and a good Duluth fella himself, is obviously where that's where the Olsons are from, and in Troy. Troy was living up in Duluth, correct? Or still is? Yeah, yeah. Okay. So the Duluth community is a great community, obviously. And um, you know, when I heard the news of of his wife passing away with two young kids and a dad having to be a supportive dad financially, take care of these kids, and ultimately, you know, deal with the the burdens and just the everything, the the sorrow, the loss, and everything as a husband, as a partner. I mean, that is just it's gut-wrenching, man. I've I've been thinking about it a lot, so it just you know goes to show you every day is it's cliche, but every day is so precious. And I'm thinking about the Olson family, Troy, and you know, his two young kids. And if you can donate and you're able to, um I I know Forbes has thrown it on his Instagram page, and you can check it out there, and and Olsa's had it on his Facebook and obviously his Twitter and things like that. So just wanted to send some love to the Olson family because man, that's that's just a tragedy, like a young family like that, like good dude, you know, like not nicest Troy's the nicest guy you'd ever meet in your life.
SPEAKER_00Like he's like just always got a smile on his face. Um, I feel like he's just a positive human being, and it sucks, dude. It it just does it really does feel like you know, those things just happen to good people. For some reason, it's just like some of the nicest people have that happen to them, and you just can't believe it. It's like every year, Jordo, there's something that comes around where you're just like, holy fuck, like yeah, that's that's how quick it can end, you know. Like there's just there's like a death every year that you're like, God, you forget about it for a while, and then it and then and then something happens, and you're like, Jesus, you just you can't believe that's how quick it can it can go away from you. So yeah, fuck, it's tough.
SPEAKER_02I know. Yeah, so ols the entire Olson family. Um good people out of Duluth were thinking about you. Ozzo, there would be no live and five without the has been starting it off, and so um just want to give a shout-out to the Olsen family. We're thinking about all your all your chins up there in Duluth. So um, Ozzo on a lighter note, fella. Like, you know, I've been doing whatever the fuck I've been doing, but you're you know, mini movers is buzzing, you got a detailing company now. Like, what has Ozzo been up to, dude? It's been a long time. I miss you, fella. I can't wait for the fucking golf trip. But what's what's yeah, what's shaking, baby? Like, what's going on?
SPEAKER_00Not not a ton, you know, just working away, just trying to uh, you know, my life is, I would say, probably at this point in my life, I'm married, I don't have kids yet. So my life is basically 90, probably 85, 90 work. Um, I try bringing on myself and and I ask for it and I enjoy it, but that's where I'm at with my life, and my wife is uh Gabby's going through flight training, so we're both busy with that. But honestly, couldn't be more lucky. I'm really happy with where I'm at, Jordal. Um you know, we've mini movers have been doing pretty well. So we we found this kid. This kid kept coming to us, like trying to detail our vehicles, and we're just one day like, hey, like we got a garage for you to clean some cars out of. Do you want us to try to get you some customers and try to book you some jobs? And he agreed, so we'll see what goes on there. I guess um, I don't really know much about detailing, you know, but we'll see what happens there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, everyone's I mean everyone needs it done, especially, especially rich people and the the the nice houses you're moving people into. They've they got cars and and they need to be cleaned.
SPEAKER_00They need them spotless too. Yeah, so I'm excited to see some of the customers that we get. You know, I I you meet some cool people, especially um when you're when you're moving, you meet so many different people, and it's it's funny to deal with the different personalities and see these different people, Jordo, because you in your normal life you hang out with your clique and you kind of think everyone's like you and who you hang out with, but then you know you you realize how much different people are out there. Um so I'm excited to see where it goes. Yeah, just keeping busy with that. Um, everyone's you know, we get we got the we got the European guys back home for the summer, um, some of the NHL guys back home. So that's exciting. We got I think Clark Saunders is getting out here pretty soon. So yeah, we got that going on. Like I saw Gersh and for an evening. I saw Paul last uh on Saturday. I was at his place watching watching the third Game of the Wild series. So that's what's going on in my life. You know, you get the guys coming back into town. My wife isn't too pumped because now I'm like you know, going out and doing things on the weekends rather than staying home, getting some yard work done. You know, I'm having beers instead, maybe golfing. Yeah, so it's exciting time, and and we got the golf trips right around the corner. Can't fucking wait.
SPEAKER_02I know man, it's well, especially with Clark Saunders moving in the town. Get the fucking break out the the ice for the liver. Jesus, you're gonna be on the whiskey. How is uh that's gotta be crazy seeing Ledou like in you know, now as a father, he's got a kid. Did they lose out in the finals? I believe the SHL. So he was over there until the as late as he could, and then didn't get it done.
SPEAKER_00Um in the finals, tough, tough topic.
SPEAKER_02And then how do they do? Did they lose out in the semis of the K?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think the semis or the quarters, I can't remember what he said, but he was he's got some pretty funny stories because he was on that team. So um his like training regime and what they did all year sounded insane. It sounded crazier than playing at the program in high school, Jordo. I mean, he was he said the first out of the first like 50 days he got there, Jordo, he skated like 42 times because they'd have two-days and stuff. Oh my god, like and he said he never he never really drank all year, they couldn't go out.
SPEAKER_02Well, I bet not. Well, I mean the day of the game, I think, and even the day before the game, you sleep at the Banya, which is like the you know, the barracks or whatever it is, yeah. Like the military barracks. Did he is he gonna go back there next year, too?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, he I don't I don't wanna I I doubt anyone I don't I doubt anyone for listening to this, but he I think he was he signed a two-year deal there, Jordo, but but like he left and he was like, Yeah, I mean I I don't know what's gonna happen. Like the coaches were like, Yeah, good they were telling me good luck, like I don't know, like uh they didn't say like see you next year, they were like good luck, so like he he doesn't know where he's at right now, I guess. Um, but they don't speak English, so they could just be like saying good luck this summer or something, but sure it's up in the air for now.
SPEAKER_02It it was Larry is he back too?
SPEAKER_00Larry is not back. I'm not sure if he's still playing or coming back soon. I don't know if they lost out.
SPEAKER_02I think they lost out. I don't I I I I want to say they did, but I I I think it's Ock Bears versus I want to say it's uh locomotive.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it looks like Ock Bar's won.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, so they they gotta they always have a Squad on that team. Uh, but man, yeah, they've it's just that's probably a top three rich team. I would say maybe even the richest. They got a ton of oil money. It's it's kind of crazy.
SPEAKER_00It's crazy Medallurg's good, isn't it? Like I've heard like Guardsey was saying, Medallurg is like the worst town ever.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, it's brutal. Oh, it's awful. It's like a smokestack town. I'm pretty sure you know you got shards of Chernobyl still laying around. You're probably drinking water with you know acid in it. Who knows? You probably eating batteries, you know. Who knows, dude? Like, yeah, I've heard that place is awful, but they they always have a squad. I mean, that's where Malkin's from. Like, they've they've always had good players and they've always had money, you know what I mean? So what I don't know what their owners do, but they've always had a good base of money for being, I guess, a quote unquote smaller organization. I mean, it's not like it's like ska or sesca where guardzi was playing or Ock Bears or yeah, even Umsk has a ton of money. So yeah, they but they've they've always had a competitive squad. Larry's sneaky been over there for what is that is that your three or four over there?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, shit.
SPEAKER_02Three at least.
SPEAKER_00I heard Guarzios tell me he's he's still really good out there, Larry is like he's going back. I think he signed again for next year. Yeah, um, I don't know if he wants to go back or what that what that's looking like because I can imagine living in that Metalurg town, Magnetosorf or whatever it's called.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I mean that's gonna take a toll on you, eh? Oh, yeah, mentally for sure. I mean, you're just hoping in the the dough hits the account one time a month, you're like, My God, you know, maybe you have one more import that you could do it with, and you could just grab your sack and just yeah, hope. But he's a guy, he doesn't need much, you know. He's not like a guy that needs to go out and explore, he can kind of hunker down and you know, just dumb it down. Like, I think though the biggest thing when you're over there is you really got to just dumb it down like day by day because you start looking at that calendar, man, and it's like October, and you might be there till May. That is when you're looking for a bridge. That's like yeah, you're looking for a cinder block outside the rink that keeps the back door open. You're like, I might just do it today, I might go in the river. Um, you know what I mean? Like, it's it gets bad, dude. Like, you especially like it's something about that neck of the woods, Ozzo. Like, I saw it a little bit in Finland in the in the winter time, just because you don't see the sun, like it's a different kind of gray in those towns, man. Like it's just the European gray in the in that north kind of eastern block, it is just you can't explain it. Just it looks spooky, it feels spooky. It feels now you're like expressing. Yeah, yeah, you are. You're like, what the fuck?
SPEAKER_00Some fucking ghost is gonna come out and be like, Holy fuck, I'm in a goddamn, I'm in a horror movie right now. Oh living life.
SPEAKER_02Oh, dude, and it's you know, rained or snowed for the last 40 days, and the sun hasn't come up, and the sun, if it even does come up, it comes up at like 10 in the morning, and then it fucking sets at noon again. You're like, huh? Like, what you don't even know what day it is, man. You literally, I remember when I was talking to Forbes when I was going over there, he's like, Swish, like, you know, they're going to Finland. I'm like, yeah, like you know, I'm gonna go try it. Like, I've heard good things, you know. Of course, my Finnish Asian is telling me it's good, you know. So I'm slightly, he's like, dude, like, all right, man, like, yeah, just just let me know. And then, like, mid-season, I remember he I was talking to him. He's like, He's like, I don't know how you you're doing it. Like, you are you just like in a deep, I remember the quote on quote, he said, he's like, Are you just like in a deep meditative state at all times? And I thought about it, dude. I was meditating like 20 minutes a day. I was like, I I kind of am. I'm sauna cold tub to you know lower my cortisol, lower my stress levels, get me in a very you know relaxed and chill mood. Then I would meditate, and then you know, then it's dinner, and fuck, that's that's it. You know, that that's it. If you're not boozing, it's overdose on melatonin or try to convince the Finnish doctor to give you some muscle relaxers because you tell them your back hurts, and you get high. That is all you can do, bro.
SPEAKER_00That's all you can do, especially when it's that gray out and dark, and you're in Russia and you haven't heard anyone speak English for four months.
SPEAKER_02I mean, see, that's what that's what would drive me nuts is the grocery stores in those small Russian towns has to be they have to be disgusting, also. Oh disgusting. Oh like you you can't eat most of that food that that are in those grocery stores because their health standards are just not up to par, and then you're in a small Russian town, brother. You you you can't trust any of that meat or fish.
SPEAKER_00Like you can't you just do you just trust it, like fuck it. What's the worst that's gonna happen?
SPEAKER_02I bet you I bet yeah, I bet you, Larry. Well, I I know he said there's one like okay steakhouse in the town, and he would just eat there every day. I think that's what you would have to do, but it's like probably they're getting the meat from the same goddamn market you are. Oh I don't know. I remember like um Kenny Agostino used playing in Torpedo, like Nisdi Norregard. It's like a town of like a million people, but I remember even asking him, I was like, Do you like go to like the supermarket and shit? He's like, Ah, like Swish. I don't really cook, just like I don't really trust it. I just go to like the hot nicest restaurant possible every night and just eat and you know, have some grapes. Like just get out of here.
SPEAKER_00That's all you can do. I mean, that's what yeah, that's what you have to do. I was just looking, I was just looking at that ock bars or whatever. Yeah, Mitchell Miller, yeah. Light lighting it up for them. I mean, what the that kid. I don't know what is I mean, obviously his story is like he can't play over in North America because he got caught, you know, what was it, bullying that yeah, the mentally handicapped kid or something? Yeah, I don't know the full story on that or whatever. He's clearly banned in North America, but I mean, fuck that guy gave up a hell of an NHL career, eh?
SPEAKER_02Like, oh yeah, yeah. He's I mean, he's gonna be in that league forever, making he's probably making over a million bucks.
SPEAKER_00I mean, he's lighting it up, yeah.
SPEAKER_02He signed a three-year deal. I know. Um, you know, after the one year he had a solid year, and now I think it was after last year he signed a three-year deal. He's for sure making over a million bucks with that team. But it's like, you know, how many years are you gonna play in fucking Russia? You know, like before you just like turn into a Russian. That's what I'm saying. Like, at what point do you have like a Russian girlfriend? You're fluent in Russian, you're living there, you're buying a place in Moscow, you're growing full Jeremy Bronco looking at a horse farm outside of you know, uh Ufa, where you're playing, you know. It's like quite what do you do?
SPEAKER_00Is that what you're doing? Like, you might as well.
SPEAKER_02Oh, dude, man, that that like scares me for him.
SPEAKER_00I know it's that's just scary to think about. Like, you just can't, and then how funny is a guy like Tony D'Angelo goes over there, and then you just you just let him cool off for a year or two, and then the NHL is like, All right, he's good to come back.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he went over there for half a year, he had a point of game, and then he's just like, All right, I'm leaving. And then Lou Lamarula's like, All right, hey Tony, uh, what are you doing? You're chilling in South Philly? You're chilling in South Philly. Have you shaved yet? How's how's the bush? We'll we'll bring you in on the island here to see how you're doing.
SPEAKER_00So that Mitchell Miller thing, that stuff is just it it won't blow over. Like, that's why these NHL teams won't take a risk. It's like it's just not gonna blow over.
SPEAKER_02I think if it was handled better by the NHL teams to start, he would have gotten a chance. But think about it the Arizona Coyotes draft him. They draft him, they make it a story, the story comes out, they have to, you know, dethrone his rights. Okay, so now he's a free agent again, goes to North Dakota, gets kicked out of North Dakota because he gets a minor in the first week, and people are like, Oh my god, this guy. So then North Dakota has to let him go. And then a year blows by, he goes back to the USHL, scores like 35 goals as a defenseman as a 19-year-old. So, what does Boston do? Well, they try to sign him. So Boston signs him for 36 hours, boom, up in smoke again. The story's flying everywhere. Family of the kid that he, you know, bullied, which wasn't good, you know, it wasn't a high school or middle school, it was not a good story. Um, you know, most people would be like, yo, that was fucked up.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh, so now it's just he's exiled. He went over to Slovakia, he lit it up, he worked his way to the KHL, obviously, because the KHL he could kill somebody and play in that league. And I think that's gonna be his move. I just think at this point, Oslo, there's too many good hockey players for an NHL organization to welcome that in when they're like, yo, we could just draft a similar type of player, or we could trade for one or develop one in the minors, like he's good, he's good, he's probably you know deserving of NHL games, at least a shake for sure. But society will just never let that happen again. I mean, the kid's what 25 now?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's getting up there now. I mean, he's still young, but right, yeah. That's just that's crazy to see. I mean, what does he does he come back to North America? What like in the offseason, live somewhere?
SPEAKER_02Just yeah, I think he does. Uh, you know what? From my accounts, like uh the guys, like I mean, he came in with Jake Schmaltz, my my cousin at at Nodak. You know, he said he was kind of a dipshit, right? But like he he wasn't, you know, out of the ordinary from what he saw in the small sample size. I mean, they obviously knew what he did and stuff like that, but like he wasn't you know a total jackass to be around, I don't think you know what I mean. Like, I think and who knows, Oz, like that was when he was really young, you know. Maybe like I just think the way the fan like his family and he handled it at the time, it it didn't seem like he was truly sorry, you know. No, like if you would have if he would have came out and gotten in front of it and did the counseling and um you know mended the situation, it almost seemed like they kind of like doubled down and were like he was it almost seemed like he I mean he completely took it as a joke, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was like this isn't that big of a deal at all. It was fucking high school or bullying some kid.
SPEAKER_02What did he make the kid do again? Did he make him lick the uh uh urinal cake or something like that?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, something like that, and and then there was rumors uh swirling, like it was it was a mentally handicapped kid, and then people were saying it was actually a mentally handicapped kid, and then some people were saying, Oh, the kid just had ADHD, and it was just a normal kid that took Adderall because he had ADHD or something, which you know, if that's the case, I don't think the kid's handicapped, but right.
SPEAKER_02I think he had like some sort of tism, you know, he was he was on the yeah, maybe, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00And then it's yeah, that's a bad look.
SPEAKER_02I mean, yeah, and the kid is, I mean, not the profile, but the kid was you know black. That doesn't like that doesn't look good because then it's like could be you know, like a oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Hate type of deal, you know what I mean? So like it was just wasn't good, like the whole thing was I mean, I've done some dumb shit as a kid, but like that it's that's almost that's almost in a way a worse it's actually a worse look on his parents, eh Jordo?
SPEAKER_00Like for sure your kids going out there bullying uh a black hand mentally handicapped kid, like yeah, that's a tough look on the parents there, because uh don't you kind of have a say in that outcome if your kid's gonna be bullying other kids or not?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I know, man. Like, I mean, I like I said, I was not like a perfect kid. I was actually kind of a I mean, I was a dipshit uh for sure at that age, uh doing a lot of dumb stuff. But I I think I always knew that line, you know, like the kids that were like the mentally handicapped kids, I actually tried to uplift them and like you know, shoot the shit and oh for sure, you know, like just bring them along and because they were getting enough flack like that, you know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. That always they didn't need more.
SPEAKER_02No, it always made me feel a type of way, um, you know, to try to uplift those kids. And like I said, I'm not I'm not a perfect human being, but yeah, it's just it's crazy, like that kid, like he'll never he'll never get a sniff, he'll just be over in Russia just banging hooks and two million bucks and buying fake Rolexes, and you know, straight from China. Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00Uh that's like uh Gersh Gersh was saying he plays with a couple North American guys over there in Austria, a different story, but plays with a couple guys over in Austria, and those guys don't come home for summer, they just stay over there, and then like they might they might never come home.
SPEAKER_02It's like that sounds awful.
SPEAKER_00Imagine just becoming European like as a choice.
SPEAKER_02No, and I love I love visiting over there. I I played two years over there. I also there wasn't a day that went by in my head thinking what's going on on that side of the pond, because it's probably better, you know, it's probably better, dude. You know, I um I'm even sitting at Lake Como here looking at this beautiful lake, but what's going on in NYC right now? What are they doing in Shy? Like, where's the buzz? It's such a different pace of life, and I guess Ozo, you're you got one life to live, and if that's how you want to do it, and you're that's what makes you happy because you got a girl over there and it's cheap and it's fun and you can drink and kind of unplug. That's just not for me, dude. That no, that ain't for me, baby.
SPEAKER_00Such a different life, like they're taking like Gersh was saying, you can't you really can't get lunch because like all the stores close from 12 to 3 or 3:30 or something because they all go home to take a nap. And that's just a different lifestyle. Can you imagine doing that over in America? Everyone's taking naps at noon.
SPEAKER_02No, and I was with that fucking team, his his squad over there. Um, what's Balzano? They're up in there in the northern guts of Italy, like two and a half hours northeast of Milan. I was over there for the Olympics. I was telling you, I met those boys out one night. I don't even know if they were hockey players, I think they're just rock stars. I think they were Italian rock stars that ended up uh just playing organized hockey twice a week. So I don't know what the fuck they were doing, but they were on a three-week runner when I found them uh at the Tarazi 21 Dumo, which was a terrace bar rooftop that looked overlooked the church, the Dumo right there, which is incredible. But I ran in these fucking jackasses and they said they were on a three-week Olympic break. They were practicing, like, just had started up again after like you know, 14 days off. I'm like, holy fuck, what are you guys on right now? Like, what uh like what is this program? You guys even play hockey?
SPEAKER_00No, they're just they're just they're just the booze. They're parties that play hockey in their half time.
SPEAKER_02They're they're backpackers that party, yeah, and they get all their accommodations paid for, and they make a half-decent living, and they play hockey when it's convenient.
SPEAKER_00They score a couple goals on the weekends and then you know they just party.
SPEAKER_02So is Gersh gonna go back there?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. It it sounded like he had a pretty good year, yeah. It sounded like he kind of wanted to go back, but then after, like I was telling you, I think they were they they were supposed to go deep into playoffs, and they lost first round, which was uh kind of an upset for them. So I Gersh said the the uh the upper management wasn't too happy with the ending of the season there, so they might uh have to make some changes. So you never know you know who they where what changes they make, but uh it sounded like it was a little up in the air.
SPEAKER_02Couldn't have been that three weeks off, eh?
SPEAKER_00No, no, I'm sure it's that's not I mean the whole the the whole league at the whole league had three weeks off.
SPEAKER_02What do you mean? We're all doing the same thing. Um, but yeah, they had a bunch of beauties on that team, man. I was uh it was a fun group. They they had a table, they had some real estate. Um, yeah, they knew how to mix it for sure. We were fucking out till oh, six. Oh, it's great.
SPEAKER_00Just had some bar, like the bars open.
SPEAKER_02Bar was open, bar was open till five, and then we went outside the Dumo, which is that famous church that every chick posts an Instagram picture of, including myself, um, for 12 likes. Um, we just stood out there with beers, and it was fucking awesome. We were just I had a hot stove, like because all the bars were closed. You know, no one really we had hotels, but European hotel rooms you can't. We had a solid group, you know. We weren't gonna speak. We didn't want to lose the buzz of just this, you know, area.
SPEAKER_00Just having a good time, just took some rockets on the road outside of the bar or what?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. We just they just let us take all the the beers from the table downstairs. Um, the owner of Gersh's team or the manager is like this dude, this connected dude all over the place. So he he had the real estate. He let you know they whatever basically they wanted to do, we could do. So we just brought some beers down there. We're just hanging out outside, smoking darts. Um, and one of their guys on their team was the goalie, the backup goalie for Italy. He just grabbed a city bike at like six in the morning and just stick-handled back to the village. He like almost like ran the city bike into this statue, and then like you know, kind of came out of it and then just like cruised on home back to the village. It was incredible. Um, yeah, man, that was uh that was a fun group. They have they had a lot of North Americans on that team. Uh, I mean, I could see why they they were having fun for sure. Wasn't there, he was out the previous two nights, but I guess he didn't uh he didn't come out for the third.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I heard I heard uh I don't know if that was the night, but I heard Gersh and the boys had a little problem with they had to practice the the next day, one day, and they all decided to have a couple of beers the the night before the practice, and called in sick to practice, and the other guys had to go practice. They're like, This motherfucker, yeah. Such a good play, Colin.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, Colin Hung.
SPEAKER_00Sorry, I'm sick. Colin Hung.
SPEAKER_02Colin Hung.
SPEAKER_00I've been playing here for three years, boys. I'm calling in a hunger. Yeah, I do I deserve a day. See you boys after.
SPEAKER_02Where are we going? Beers after? What do you think? What you know what do we think here? Um, yeah, that might have that may or I can't confirm, but that may or may have not been the reason why uh he wasn't there. Uh but yeah, that that team that team, man, that they like that's how you want to do playing in Europe right there.
SPEAKER_00No, that's how you do it. That that is how you do it over there, because like I mean, I'm sure some guys are playing over there to win the league or whatever, and I'm sure if you're in playoffs, you're playing to win, but let's be honest. You go over to Europe to collect the check and to have a good time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, exactly. Um, it's not that serious either. You know, it's it's at that point, it's it's really not. So yeah, hopefully Gersh, those boys, they make the trip. I think Gardsey, uh hearing he's out for the golf trip, has a uh weekend in Calgary uh booked, so we'll miss him on the golf trip. Uh Gersh, hopefully there, as well as Keaton Thompson. Keaton Thompson uh texted me today 60 40 being that uh 60 that he is out, 40% chance he makes it. So uh I think I translate that Ozo. I I flip the percentages and I add 20. So 80-20, he will be there. He's not out for sure until he's if he was out, he would have been I'm out, yeah.
SPEAKER_00But do you know if he left that door open for himself and he gave you that 40% in? Yes, then he's probably actually 100% in, right?
SPEAKER_02Like he's been plotting like somehow it it happens every year, but he's still gotta you know get the okay to go, which you know, just had a kid. I I get it, I'm not gonna sewer the guy, but uh definitely is is trying to uh pry that door open right now, right? With uh with the lovely, so that's probably where that comes from. So yeah, hopefully we get Tomer there. Dewey uh Dewey will be there, which is great. Umula sad news is out again. Um, but this uh this trip is is is sneaking up here, as we're sitting here on on Monday, May 11th. Um, and you know when we do these early trips like this, it's Memorial Day, and then dude, something about that when the 25th hits, it's just boom, right? It's to the fourth. Like it's there's no 26, 27, you know what I mean? It's just boom, right to the fourth, and you're like, oh my god, we're on Chelly's boat right now. Jesus Christ, we only got one day left. FAC.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's gonna be that's that's gonna be the worst feeling when we when it's like Friday and we're not the trip.
SPEAKER_02I know, yeah. So we're getting getting there Thursday, we got Cubs game Friday, lining that up, and then I was texting with Chelly uh today. He's so choked. I think he's out of town, but I think the boat hopefully will be available. So he's trying to get us a captain, but usually he's the captain of the boat, Chelly.
SPEAKER_00Oh fuck, that would have been the best time ever.
SPEAKER_02I know. So I think we're gonna we're not gonna get Chell, which he seems bummed about. He's like, fuck me, I'm out of town.
SPEAKER_00Um, so it's gonna be working on his tan somewhere else.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, probably like in Malibu at a 70 million dollar shack or something like that. But yeah, that's like his new thing. So he just he's got this vessel, uh, he's got a place in the suburbs and downtown, and he takes people out basically every day or any day that it's rented and just captains the boat, or sometimes he, if he wants to get real banged up, he hires a captain and he just hangs out with the crew.
SPEAKER_00So no way, what a what a fucking hobby for a guy like that.
SPEAKER_02Such a legend, and he just rips it through the river over to the playpen and back. Oh man, what a what a pocket. I was talking to him in Aspen because that's when I originally got the you know, I'd never really I'd met him before, but not like sat down and chopped it up with him. I know his kid, Jake, who's a beauty, but I was sitting there um at the hotel and I had about an hour with Shelly and it was unreal. I mean, dude, just talk about like one of the coolest guys of all time. There's a reason why they call him the godfather of USA hockey. He really is like he knew my pigeon fucking name. He's like, hey Jordan, how you doing? Good to see you. How your how's your brother? Like, knew a little bit about where I play. Like, shut up. Yeah, like just he doesn't have to like how? I don't know. You know, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Those guys are always so amazing, Jordo. Those guys who kind of know everything, like, yeah, obviously he doesn't know everything about you, but he knows enough about you to call you by your first name and ask about your brother. That is just so impressive to me, and it always leaves an impression. Like, as the guy, for sure, if you meet someone, he's like, Hey, like calls you by the first name, asks about your brother. I'm like, Holy fuck, this guy is unreal.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and it and those guys, it's so funny when those guys like introduce themselves to you. It's like, hey, I'm Chris. I'm like, fella. Fucking Chelly, you know, like everyone knows who you are, bro. You get the best tan in hockey, you know. It's always like, but those guys are always the most humble guys, you know. It's just like for sure. Um, yeah, so what a legend. I was asking him, I'm like, Chelly, what do you like? What do you do in the summer? He's like, and he looked at me with a straight face, he goes, Just drink. I go, You just drink? Because yeah, drink in sauna. That's what I do. I go, Oh, nice. Because yeah, I got a boat and I was drunk most days. I go, Oh fucking A.
SPEAKER_00He is, isn't he the guy? Isn't he the guy who uh you know towards the end of his his career, he'd have beers the night before or whatever, but he's uh he'd always be the first one in the locker room doing a bike in the sauna. Oh, yeah, just getting ready for practice, just a professional.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he's I mean, he's he's he's what made doing sauna workouts cool, you know what I mean? He'd be on the bike in the sauna every morning after every practice, sweating it out. I mean, best friends with Kid Rock, he's in that same circle of Brett Hall, all those guys. Uh-huh. I mean, he's a he's a living legend. I mean, he used to train with Lard Hamilton, the surfer in the summers. They do underwater workouts in the pools in the ocean. I mean, Chelly's, I'm pretty sure Chelly's beach volleyball partner in Malibu for years was Leonardo DiCaprio. Like, he's on a different level, fella.
SPEAKER_00Just so cool.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, just just different tax bracket and just cool meter, you know what I mean? Um, yeah, so yeah, hopefully, uh, hopefully we get that boat. Um, obviously we're not golfing, you know. That's like what are we talking about? Obviously, we're not golfing, dude. It's a golf trip. We don't golf.
SPEAKER_00Why would we golf if we're going to Chicago, boys?
SPEAKER_02I know. I know. When I sent that text in, and we're like bring the clubs, though. Oh, of course. I mean, what's the over-under? We're gonna have 15 guys. Well, how many guys bring their clubs? Probably what do you think the line is? Two and a half, yeah.
SPEAKER_00You might as well. You mean you have to, right?
SPEAKER_02You gotta sell the game. It's the it's the best that when the guys that fly there bring their clubs, like, dude, you really spent like a hundred dollars to like just sell it to your significant other that you're actually gonna play golf. Like, come on, fella. You know, just tell her that you know, we're yeah, we're doing mini putt this year.
SPEAKER_00Well, what's wrong with going on Shelly's boat and going to a baseball game? You know, that's I know that's good, clean fun.
SPEAKER_02That's great. It's so funny, too. Like, we have a bunch of guys that are in their mid 30s now, and you know, Rico obviously sets up the house, you help with stuff. I try to get the back half of the stuff of like the nights out, whatever tickets, the buses, all that shit, just to take the load off Rico, our uh our president of operations. But it's so funny every goddamn year. I'm like, because I don't want to like do like one nice dinner, you know, like just to like so we just don't go to a bar for you know the 20 hours, that's like 18 hours at the bar, like a nice dinner with some rouge flowing in the back room. Like everyone's making you know money in it these days, like you know, nothing crazy, but you can afford a$200 meal if that's what it's gonna cost, yeah. Yeah, and we still can't do the meal. Like, dude, I don't want to, I don't, I'm not asking for us to go sit down at Chicago Cut or Gibson's or Bavett's. Like, I'm just talking about like just going to like a you know, like a a decent, like a Mediterranean place, you know, where we can just like drink some fucking wine and hang out. And Rico's like, Oh, yeah, I don't think this is what this crew wants. I'm like, all right, man. All right, all right. Like, because some of the best nights when we're in forks, we're at we're at, you know, Harry's. We're hanging out at Harry's, like that's what I want to recreate, but it's just like I don't know. This are we ever are we ever gonna get there or is the group just too big?
SPEAKER_00I that's what I was the group is so big for a dinner like that, and then I mean, are we ever gonna golf? You know, there's people asking.
SPEAKER_02Are you ever gonna grow up, Peter Pan?
SPEAKER_00Is the golf trip ever gonna golf? We don't know, not this year, but maybe next year we're thinking, right? Like, we're probably we're looking at courses next year, boys. Don't worry.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, we're gonna line it up. I mean, it's what year 10 this year. We're still not golfing, but we're we're thinking about it.
SPEAKER_00Figured like first 10 years, probably don't want to care. You don't probably don't care about golf much. First 10, and then we'll probably dial in next year unless unless we don't want to and we want to find another boat.
SPEAKER_02The years that we've played one round are the funniest because guys are showing up to the course in the worst mood I have ever seen them in their life. Oh, fucking kidding me, this fucking place. Are you fucking kidding me? They're at the bar like three hours past the time they were originally supposed to tee off at. You got the course martial yellow yelling at them, the bartender trying to close them out, guys smoking heaters, me in the clubhouse, so drunk still. Finally, they drag us out there. Guys play like eight holes in us, walk off the course. So mad, like like text in the group, like, can we fucking leave? Can we get a bus one and bus two? Like, this is bullshit. It's like, boy, like we can try to play at least one round, it's just it's so funny, man.
SPEAKER_00I just don't like you know, some there's some guys who are like, Are we ever gonna golf? And then there's like, I don't know. I don't see you guys, a lot of you guys, a lot of the guys there, I don't really see, yeah. Outside of that trip, like I don't want to spend five hours on the course with you know, guys I see all the time, yeah, for five hours, and then I don't see their guys. Like, I'd rather us go to a baseball game or this boat and we're all hanging out together, true, you know, especially when none of us care about golf right now. I I mean, yeah, there is gonna come a time where we're gonna golf, all right? Like, we're still young, all right. We're not that young, but we're still young for sure.
SPEAKER_02And it's it's always tough too if it's like a three-day trip in a city. Usually we're going. Like, do we really want to get on the bone rattler, go 30, 45 minutes outside the city, go spend an entire day while we're so stung? Most guys literally don't sleep, and then it's like we're gonna kill a whole day, you're gonna be so gassed, and then by the time you get to the night, because you're gonna get back at six o'clock. Now it's like, dude, you really need to dig deep just to battle to like get to that dinner, yeah. And then it's like, you know, it's just it's it's hard on the body when you stay up till eight in the morning and you're out in the sun in these places where it's a hundred fucking degrees out. So I'm with you there. I think like eventually, Ozo, it's just gonna have to be if guys actually want to golf, it that's just like a separate trip.
SPEAKER_00Like, well, yeah, 100%. That's what I'm saying, too. And you know, like personally, I think golf trips they're kind of you know fall winter things, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, I agree, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like where are we gonna go in the summer? Which the goal the UND golf trip has to be in the summer because uh 75 of the guys are still playing or coaching, so it has to be in the summer. It's like, do we do we really want to go somewhere in golf where it's a hundred degrees everywhere in the country?
SPEAKER_02I know you're yeah, you're so right. I I'm with you. I I I I mean, never say never. I I don't think I'm I'll be ever pushing for a golf trip, honestly, unless we're going like over to Ireland. I could get down for that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Now, if we're going to cross a pond and we're funneling, you know, pints in Ireland and Scotland, fuck yeah, let's do it. But again, I'm going over there to drink, not fucking play golf. I'm going over there to get my steps in during the day. Obviously, play mint link style for sure. Um, but my next thing, Ozo, I I think me and you gotta be the the leaders of it is um is a ski trip in this in the winter. I think that's a must for the boys, and it doesn't need to be a big group. I'm thinking like four. Oh, yeah, you know, like me, you, Rico, and John or something. Yeah, you know, we just go and and maybe you know, a couple other guys. We've got some uh taxi squad guys if they want to join.
SPEAKER_00We extend the invite, we just don't know if they're gonna show up, right?
SPEAKER_02You know, we go to Big Sky where they got the eight-man lift. That's fine, yeah. You know, yeah, so yeah, we gotta get on that though, because that'd be so fun, dude. Like next year, we gotta whatever area gets hit the hardest with the pow, we just like fuck it, we're going there.
SPEAKER_00You're going, yeah. Because this year, like that's the one thing about the ski trips. If you were to schedule one, scheduled one last winter, like you went to Park City. I mean, you could have gotten fucked at some of these places, like they didn't have snow.
SPEAKER_02It was brutal, dude. There was no dust. I mean, I got lucky at Big Sky where it was eight inches the day before we got there, otherwise, we'd have been fucked there. Telluride, the same thing. The day we landed, I was basically half the place was roped off because of ice. They get hit with 10 12 inches that night. Fuck yeah, let's go. So just got really two lucky shoots in there, and then Park City. I couldn't even ski, you know. So it's like hopefully next winter, you know, it's just like we just pick a spot, like you know, a couple weeks before, we're like, all right, we're going, we're going here, boys. But that would be so fun.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that that would be the best trip. Skiing, yeah. Nothing beats skiing outside of like playing organized sports. Yes, that's like the most fun thing you could do.
SPEAKER_02100%. You go to like especially like a place that's got a little apparent scene, you know, after sliding around, hey, fella fac, you know.
SPEAKER_00That's one thing they got going in Europe, right? That's a little better than the states, is yeah. Those those mountain bars don't really nothing in the US, like they're not great. I mean, they they're fun for a little bit until like 8 p.m. And that's done.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, I would say the one place, Ozo, that pops off that's not in our tax bracket is Aspen. I mean, that place that place bumps, but like you're right, like Big Sky, Telluride. Um, I would even say well, Jackson Hole, Jackson Hole kind of pops up.
SPEAKER_00I haven't seen Jackson Hole. I mean, like so that I've been in like Brecken Ridge, Colorado. Brecken Ridge is yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02So Jackson Hole, the the million dollar cowboy pops.
SPEAKER_00I gotta, I gotta experience that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you do. Maybe that's where we go, fella. Maybe that's maybe that's that's the spot. That place fuck tuck your chin. That place is steep, it's fucking yeah, it's like dusty dusk go on a board. I'd be like, Oh, buddy, like Jesus. Good luck.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, you gotta put some skis on those feet.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, seriously, you do. You catch one edge, man, on that board when it's a little bit icy, you're fucked.
SPEAKER_00That's why I stopped. I used to I used to go snowboarding a little bit, and I was like, Why am I doing this when I'm hitting my head every time I go?
SPEAKER_02Oh, it's the worst.
SPEAKER_00It's I and getting on and off the lift. I just it's like that's brutal.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it it really is. Um, what are we thinking? I mean, we we're recording just after this wild game where we're talking a little NHL puck. Like I picked a wild and seven. I didn't know Erickson Eck was gonna be banged up. I didn't know Bro Dean was gonna be banged up. Um, yeah, I thought maybe we'd have a little bit more from Caprice off at this point. Faber and Hughes have done their thing, but are Dave Haxtall's Avalanche and Brock Nelson's Avalanche just are they just too deep, man? No did he?
SPEAKER_00They're too deep with Erickson Eck and Brodeen out. I think Erickson Eck and Brodeen in. Yeah, I think you see it advantage wild, but without them, I mean, like these avs are so good, like Lanniscog. I mean, I know he's aging and he's injured, but he's still fucking Gabe Lanniscog. And then you got Nikis, who is yeah, I didn't realize how good he was. McKinnon, um, Brock Nelson has fucking game, Nazim Codry, and then these lower end guys, Jordal, like um Kelly and Colton and Wah.
SPEAKER_02Like I was just gonna say that. Like, they were Ross Colton was scratched for the first two games of the playoffs. The guy's a Stanley Cup champion, like 35 40 points, like really good hockey player. Like that when I really when I when I realized they were scratching him, I was like, huh? I know he had a I know he had a little bit of a down year this year, but like still got a ton of game. I mean, he scored tonight. It's crazy. I think that O'Connor is fucking good.
SPEAKER_00Uh yeah, O'Connor's good. He buzzes around out there.
SPEAKER_02Big Val Nakushkin hasn't even got going yet because he needs some hookers with them. Like this team is they're deep.
SPEAKER_00And then I mean Tays and Makar, obviously. Fuck Manson. He plays well. That Kulek is playing well on the back end. Brent Burns, he's obviously an aging asset, but he's still Brent Burns. I mean, he's he's useful out there. The one thing I like, who are these goaltenders, the Avs to like that's one thing. Like, I yeah, they're obviously now they're into the Western Conference Finals, which I think they win for sure, yeah.
SPEAKER_02For sure.
SPEAKER_00Um, but that that'd be one thing that would scare me in the in in the Stanley Cup.
SPEAKER_02Do you so you think they're going back home, they're winning that game, right? Game five.
SPEAKER_00For sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I just I don't I I mean I thought the wild stay with them as best as they could tonight.
SPEAKER_00But tonight, even was like the wild, they were lucky to tie it up 2-2. I mean, it's it was a Colorado win. Oh, like it looked like all game, yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then they're gonna go back to the thin air, they're just gonna you know, they get maybe they get it slinging on the power play. I mean, they might score seven goals in game five.
SPEAKER_00Oh, and the wild. Like, I don't I don't wanna I don't want to like jump. I I hate chirping guys in the playoffs, especially NHL players, because I nowhere near as good as them, but that fucking Damon Hunt tonight. I mean, talk about a tough game.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because he uh he was actually not he's pretty good in game three. He was, you know, he was playing sheltered minutes, but he I I thought he looked confident, and then yeah, tonight it was it looked like it looked like it looked like he should be down in Des Moines, you know, at Bucky's, you know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and then even like I don't know if you know, you start to wonder, Jordo, if some of these D-men like Spurgeon almost doesn't look like oh he he looks washed, himself either.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he looks he looks hurt or something's going on.
SPEAKER_00I mean yeah, I don't I don't know if he's is he hurt, is he not? Or is he just old, or is he just or or you know what I'm thinking too, Jordo is like even like Middleton, he's you know, he's not they're not playing as much, like at some point you got Faber and Hughes playing half the game, and then the other D just kind of rotating in and out, yeah, just kill mention at some point. Like, are they just not getting enough minutes so they can't really find the their flow to their game? So they're kind of just off a little bit and like playing. Yeah, well, that's a fair point. I mean, at what point does that come into factor? Like, I always think of you know, McDavid and Dry Saddle, like, how do those other forwards on that team get going if they're not getting minutes?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, they don't. It makes it tough. It may it makes it very tough because you know, you factor in TV timeouts, you factor in power play, penalty kill. After every TV timeout, that pairing is going over whether it's an offensive zone start or a defensive zone start. Power play, they're gonna play the full two minutes. Penalty kill, Faber's gonna play a minute 30. Hughes, they actually don't they rest them on that so they can get some other guys in so they don't play four minutes a night. But there's three or four TV timeouts per period. You're gonna get at least one odd man situation, whether you're on the man advantage or you're you're down killing, and then as is Ozo, he's gonna play, they're playing 10 minutes five on five, so it's like you know, I mean, or eight minutes five on five, and then probably two to three in the specialty's departments per period. So how do you even really play? I mean, what where are your starts? Like, you're not getting anything after a TV timeout, and then it gets all out of whack after power player penalty kill. You might be onto some because it even like have you noticed it wasn't this game. I didn't watch a ton of I watched about half this game, but the game even the game before when they won 5-2 or 5-1. Like, there was a couple times where it looked like Spursion and even Bagosian, like it just looked like they had dead legs where they were turning and they almost fell during their pivots, and they don't do that in the regular season. Like, I don't know, and it it just looked like they were just they they felt and looked like clunky.
SPEAKER_00It was like yeah, it's it's it's just weird, it's a little weird to watch because they look just look a little out of sorts, um, without Brodeen. And maybe it's because Spurgeon's not playing with a guy like Brodeen's caliber, so it makes it tougher for him to play his game, and then yeah, you know, you got Middleton playing more minutes than he's used to, so now he's trying to play a game that he's right doesn't really want to play, and then I mean Bagosh, it's crazy the guy's still playing.
SPEAKER_02Nots, and it's crazy. I mean, it's crazy that and it's crazy that he's only a 1990. He seems like he's like an 85 born, but he's been in the league since he was 18.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, he's played for the Thrashers. I mean, he still does it though, like the guy can still move, he still makes a steady, trustworthy play. Yeah, the puck most of the times he gets it. Um simple, simple keeps it simple. He's a big body back there. Yeah, but Damon Hunt, man, that's a tough night for him tonight. Yeah, he will not be in the lineup on when do they play next? I don't know. Wednesday, yeah, Thursday.
SPEAKER_02I think they're playing Wednesday. Uh but I mean, yeah, and then I mean I saw Bess's boy played too that Jack Ashon. He he was in the lineup. Who was he playing for? Malinsky. Yeah, Malinsky. Was Malinsky healthy or was he hurt?
SPEAKER_00I was wondering that. I would have thought he would be injured because he seemed like he's been a pretty big piece to their D their back end.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he just re-signed for three years or whatever. I was just curious. I know Ashon had played a few games this year with him, maybe like you know, a handful, nine or ten.
SPEAKER_00Um pretty sick, pretty sick to get in a playoff game in Minnesota.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that was sick. Yeah, I was happy for him. So yeah, I think they're done like dinner. I had them in seven, but there's been injuries. Um and that team, Colorado, like Oz of the other series, is just on that western side, is just nowhere near what the the pace of play of these Avalanche are playing. I even think Minnesota is better than both Vegas and Anaheim. Um, I could see Colorado. Now, I've been wrong on every fucking almost every series uh with my predictions. A lot of them I've done with my heart. You know, I didn't think Philadelphia maybe was actually gonna win, but I had just been there recency bias, the good people of Philadelphia or sure Philly and seven versus Carolina, they get whacked in fucking four. But I I I truly think you know, whoever Colorado ends up playing, uh assuming they're gonna advance. I mean, they're gonna whack Vegas or Anaheim and five.
SPEAKER_00Right? It seems like it when you're watching these games. I mean, I'm sure it'll be closer, but it just seems like they're gonna waltz through whoever they play next.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and my my last thing on Vegas, and it's my theory. I know, listen, um, Mitch Marner, Mitchell Greedy Marner is a world-class player, but hear me out on this theory. I tweeted it out the other day, and I was trying to figure out, you know, Mitch Marner is he's had a great playoff during the Utah series. I don't think he was great games one through three. He got better four, five, six, ended up, you know, getting some fortuitous bounces. He buried in game six, had the ice, or um, wasn't really playing inside the dots, to be honest. I watched a ton of that series. I watched the games, honestly, I watched them back just because I was trying to do some scouting for Nikki and just different things. Um, but it's not like he had an incredible series, he was he was good, he was you know, points wise, he had some points in that series. Obviously, he's found his stride in this next series and um hat trick, three assists games, um, on the board pretty much every night. I think he's got like 16 points now in nine or ten playoff games.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_02But Ozzo, when he was in the East, Mitchell Greedy Marner was playing against Florida, Boston, Tampa Bay, teams that have criminals and legit, legit, just erratic individuals inside their top six that you don't know what they're gonna do. They instill fear in you, they can beat you up, the Kachuks, the Marchants, um, even pasta plays with an edge, Brandon Hagel, Cooch is a dirty player when he wants to be. They had legitimate savages on those teams. Now, Mitch Marner plays two playoff series in the West, and everyone's like, oh my god, it was a Toronto thing, it wasn't a Marner thing. Well, let's see who he played against, right? I love the Utah Mammoth, but inside their top six, not a lot of sandpaper there, right? A lot of skill game tailors to a guy like Mitch Marner, right? You can play against a skill line, a skill team, top six, uh, the Gunthers of the world. Um, Nicki Schmalt, I thought, played pretty physical in that series, but still, these aren't bigger stature guys. The Kellers, the uh Cooley was a dog, but it's not like it's like Marshawn coming at you, giving you the stinky glove or the Kachuk bearing you. It's just a different level, or a Barkkoff shutting you down. And then he goes into Anaheim and he's playing against again a younger top six type of teams, kind of the same skill, soft, want to go up and down the walls, play a run and gun game, and he's having success. So, what I'm saying is a leopard doesn't change its spots, it's just the matchups have been more favorable for a guy like Mitchell Marner. Are you buying that smoke, or do you think he's elevated his play?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, it certainly makes sense. So you make a great point on who he was playing.
SPEAKER_02playing with Toronto and I mean I I think he's I think it's just it's who he's playing this year Jordo I mean he played the mammoth like you said and now he's playing Anaheim which it matches up against him well like he's obviously gonna outskill pretty much any other player that's playing a skilled game right like for sure it's tough to be more skilled than Mitch Marner and also you look at people always bash the Toronto Maple leaves Jojo but what were they one game away from basically making it to the cup and yeah maybe winning the cup like the Panthers did or whatever like they were close like it in some of those series like it could have gone one way or the other and they're in the cup like yeah if they beat Florida that two years ago they're they're yeah yeah so like what happens there I mean they just ran into a good team and I think it probably helps too playing on a team like Vegas just uh and and you gotta imagine like a guy like that in the Vegas market his his postgame interviews pre-game interviews all that shit has to be so much easier he has to go to bed after a bad game like yeah no one even asks him any questions because it's Vegas and they don't really give a fuck yeah like that's gotta help too a little bit but I'm I'm putting it mostly on just the teams he's played so far this yeah this playoffs like the mammoth or the ducks now like that that's not playing Florida or the Bruins or Tampa or Tampa like it's just those teams back when Mitchie was playing them with the Leafs these teams he's playing now are just aren't those teams yeah like I don't I honestly think he would struggle mightily or at least have to get a little bit you know I guess you'd say grittier uh for Greedy Martiner if he played a team like the wild like the wild I think are a physical team I I think they can instill fear in you um you for sure line matchups you get the Felinos out there one shift and they bury you um even Boldy is a fucking dog Hartman's gonna come after your chin so I do think you know if he had a matchup like that that doesn't really favor his game now Colorado I'll be interested to see if they both advance um and he if he plays well against Colorado which I assume that's who they're gonna play if they do win and he has the point production like he's in the duck series he will answer all of my questions I say you know what Mitchell you were right I was wrong I'll do the old happy Gilmore you were right I was wrong you're very good looking I'm not so good looking you know that's when I'll say I'll take my hat off and I'll say fella you just prove me wrong because that's a legitimate team that plays any way you want right but until then I'm still gonna say the book's out I just and I love he's a great player he I'm not denying that you know he's a fucking hundred point player but yeah I'm just saying um I think people and especially Toronto folk are jumping the gun a little bit too much. I think it's more matchup oriented than anything versus just him being in Toronto. Now it doesn't make it easier that he doesn't have to answer to Mark Masters Steve Simmons fucking all these people yeah of course of course that's fucking annoying he's just got one guy now it's Gary Lawless and he's a beauty oh yeah that's gonna be way better as a hockey player and yeah I just I think we I think we already know who Mitch Marner is as a hockey player.
SPEAKER_00I I don't think there's like something yet we haven't seen yeah he's just an unbelievable hockey player and sometimes he shows up and sometimes he doesn't and just like every other pretty much hockey player. Right yeah yeah like it just we judge them all off like winning cups or gold medals and it's like he's still sometimes you lose the game and he still played really well it just that's that's sports.
SPEAKER_02Sorry buddy he's uh he's way richer than us so he's he's doing something right so yeah um just wanted to ask your chin about that lastly Azzo before we wrap this up episode 118 brought to you by Mini Movers Butter Golf the People's Insider term of the week fella and it is here and this week's People's Insider term of the week is bus one and bus two so for the folks that never played the game of ice hockey maybe at the professional level or maybe at the national hockey league level well let's break it down here. So going to a game going to a pregame skate you have two buses in the National Hockey League. Bus one typically if you're playing at seven o'clock Ozzo will leave at four or four fifteen depending on how far the rink is bus two will be 430 or 445 getting you there just in time for two hours before the game going into your team meeting so how does this translate to real life Swish well Ozzo say you're on a golf trip say hey maybe you got a bunch of boys hanging out at your place for a pregame shaker you're all gonna go to the same bar but the Uber ain't gonna fit everybody so we're looking around and me and Ozzo are teamed up playing beer pong against some jabronies just dusting them you know a couple buddies are walking up they're like hey boys uh Uber's here we're like no no no we're catching bus two so we'll be on the next Uber you boys hey go hold down the fort put your credit card down you get on bus one we'll see you there I was always a bus two guy I didn't need to be there too early I didn't need to be at the game thinking about anything I wanted to show up ready to rock so there's bus one guys and bus two guys usually not all the time but bus two guys were kind of the beauties that just showed up maybe taped one stick letter buck the bus one guys had to put their air pods in they had to do a dynamic warm up maybe the fucking weird goalies they have to get there early but also me and you were bus two guys and we'll see you there. So that is this week's People's Insider term of the week baby gotta be a bus two guy that's where all the beauties are that was a good one I like that bus two is where it's at I mean you boys bus one you go get the real estate like you said put the card down we'll meet you there and and good luck on finding the spot because it's thank you too by the way and the cowboys who we're not gonna name their names Paul Ledue Keaton Thompson cage hospice in that crew I was an honorary member though those guys might have been you guys might have been bus three guys just because of Dewey uh bro I don't know we're we're not we're not you guys haven't left what are you been here for an hour well they're texting us then this next text doesn't even regard Cody disregards it goes how is it it's like what am I your fucking scout now what do you what do you you want babes in here you want booze what do you what do you want you fuck what do you want you know Jesus Christ how is it I'm like get your fucking ass here it's the time for us to come yet or yeah how's it looking you guys uh you still there get busy in there yet or no yeah is it filling out what do you think uh can you get me in when we get there or there's a line at the door I'm hearing yeah no problem bud whatever you need eh whatever you fucking need um so Ozzle uh yeah we're gonna be bus two guys in Chicago coming up here in a couple weeks fella it's always a pleasure uh I know it's getting late there so I'll let you go because you gotta be up early but uh thank you for taking the time folks it was a uh it was a couple weeks off maybe even a fucking month but we're back at it no we're not fucking leaving we're still here baby that was live and five episode 118 off the bone on the screws the captain Jay swish baby we out
