Alrighty, folks, welcome back to Live and Five Baby, the Captain Gage Ozzo hospice of 9393.1. We are back. You are in Mini. You just dropped off a couple cold tubs for recurring guest Harvey Martin, who is returned from the desert back to the good old Midwest in Minnesota. I am battling guys that probably couldn't fight a cold online on Twitter today that want to fight me. Um may or may not be a part of the pronoun community. Not that that matters, just to give it a little context. People that are easily offended, uh, a part of the LGBTQR code community. Uh so yeah, I got that going for me, which is nice. Trying to actually promote a fight right now with this kid. I also I wouldn't fight a lot of people, but this guy online right now, um, I'm willing and able to go for uh whatever the price would be. So I'm I'm ready to chuck. And like I said, um, not a tough guy, not been in a ton of fights myself, but I I feel pretty confident uh in this one if he takes the card.
SPEAKER_02Is it is this a Red Wings fan, Dritto? Because you're uh you're you're you're you're putting yourself out there to become the next GM of the Red Wings. So is that them fired up? I saw that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I saw a little bit. I don't know if he is uh a Red Wings fan or if he is just I think he is a Red Wings fan, but I saw in his bio, um, other than I should say they them, I saw in his bio that they them is a Red Wings fan and also a Rangers fan. So I think maybe just a fan of a couple different teams and wasn't a fan of Jay Swish for I don't know what other reason, you know. I you don't have to be a fan of me, but to say online, Ozo, that you're gonna knock me out, that's where that's where the internet is just never real life. But it used to be a thing where you just couldn't just say whatever you wanted online. Now you can say whatever, just like you're just gonna knock somebody out. But uh, there used to be a time where words actually meant something, and coming from a guy that uses a lot of words, um, they mean nothing, so they hold no weight.
SPEAKER_02No, and uh there's a lot of tough people on the internet. Um there is. I'm one of them, you know, but I'd like to think I could hold my own if if you know shit hits the fan in the real world against one of these guys who comes at me on the internet too. I just uh I had a guy block me, Giordo, because I said, um I think I said, like, look, we are arguing about the US being a nice, a good country to live in, which I fully believe.
SPEAKER_00It's pretty good.
SPEAKER_02And I think it's you know, it's it's gotta be top top two. It's it's probably not two. And this guy, he started telling me all these all these other countries that are better to live in. And I'm like, well, I've been to those other countries, they're not better. Yeah, they're just not. And have you been to these countries? He's like, No, I haven't, because if I had, I would have stayed there. And I'm like, okay, well, how are you talking on something that you've never actually seen, or you like you have this huge opinion on something that you've actually never experienced, you're probably never talking to anyone from those countries. No, just going off a straight, you know, graph or rating from some internet guy making ratings on what country's best to live in, you know. So I call him out and he gets all pissed off of me, and then he blocks me. And it's like, okay, yeah, that's that's when you know you've won when they can't take it. And and sometimes, Jorno, and I don't I don't mean to be rude or or call anyone out, but I do wonder if you are actually arguing with someone that's got a legitimate mental illness.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I also wonder a lot of times, are these actual real people behind these burners, or is it just dudes in India looking for engagement and engagement farming for whatever preconceived notion they may have? I don't I don't know what goes into that, but I feel like there are so many Twitter bots out there that most of the time those burner accounts, I don't even know if they're real people, number one, and number two, are they just some dude random dude in India, like I said, looking for engagement to get paid out by Elon Musk for like you know four dollars USD for the month. I I I don't know, I I truly don't know. And to your point, Ozzo, for those people that say that the US isn't the greatest country, that's fine if if you say that you live here. Well, just ask Ellen DeGeneres how that worked out when she tried to move away for about four months, and little did you know, came back with her tail between her legs, only to U.S. soil again. So um, yeah, it's uh it's always funny.
SPEAKER_02That argument is always hilarious because yeah, there are nice spots in the world, obviously. Like there's some really nice spots in Sweden and Norway and Italy, but collectively as a whole, the US has the best life for its average citizen. Yes, um, and it's and and you know, like even the people who are considered poor in the US, they would be considered wealthy in 85% of countries.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_02So that's how good they have it, even though they are technically poor in the USA. Um, and I think people overlook that fact a lot.
SPEAKER_00The the the fact that you even have an opportunity to better your life in this country puts you on third base compared to relatively speaking, to like you said, the majority of countries out there. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, half these countries, you don't have a choice. I mean, you're born, you're born into something, and all of a sudden the government's like, hey buddy, your dad was a shoemaker, you're gonna be a shoemaker. Oh, you wanna, oh, you wanna be a welder or you want to play soccer? Yeah, no, you're a shoemaker, and you're gonna do what I tell you to. Yes, and that's a lot of scenarios out there.
SPEAKER_00In North Korea, you look at a portrait in your house that you're literally government mandated to have of King Jung Furta, and that's what you stare at all day, and they strip you down to the point of the nuts and bolts, and you don't even really know how to read. Your education level is literally just worshiping one man, and that's all you know. You don't even understand the outside world, let alone what goes on outside of North Korea. Because number one, you don't have internet, and the only thing you see all day, every day from the moment you are born is propaganda. So, hey, maybe sometimes ignorance is bliss, but I don't know in this case, Azzo. Um, but it's always good to just fight with people online. Uh, sometimes I'm like, dude, you don't have the highest IQ level, J Swish, but um, maybe don't just go to that level of you know that low IQ behavior. But sometimes you gotta you gotta check people out there, Azzo, and that's baseball.
SPEAKER_02That's baseball. That's yeah, you do have to check these people.
SPEAKER_00Sometimes you do.
SPEAKER_02And I I always wonder if like they're going to bed like I got got, or they're just kind of pissed, and even though they know they lost, the inside their head they're they're so stubborn they don't even know it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I think sometimes too, they're just happy and they get their rocks off with the engagement for whatever you say to them.
SPEAKER_02You know, there are people out there who are doing it as a hobby, like I there's a documentary on it, Jordo. There's there's a documentary on these social media trolls that just they get off on just trolling people all yeah, yep, yep.
SPEAKER_00If you make their tweet, if somehow you quote tweet their tweet and it blows up and it's got like not even blow up 10,000 views. That's you're giving them the platform that they want, and that's like that'll make their week, no matter if they whatever name they called you in the first place to get that sort of engagement for you to you know feel inclined to respond. That's how they think they've won, which is just fully retarded. But also, I wanted to ask you speaking of fully retarded, uh, Saturday night, Las Vegas, Nevada, T Mobile Arena, Connor McGregor comes into the ring, throws a flying roundhouse kick, tears his ACL as Joe Rogan said four seconds after, could have been an MCL, meniscus, maybe all three. What did we see from the Irishman? And I wanted to ask you, was he a little bit banged up before the fight? Do we think? We don't know anything. Was he banged up before, though? Do we think, or is this something that is just a result of not fighting in five years, doing a lot of bad dust, drinking, and ultimately being washed?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I I think I don't even, I think I would put a I'd be confident putting a guarantee stamp on what happened. I think in training camp he messed up his knee a little bit. Maybe it was a strain, maybe it was something. And then you see the when he was warming up in you know, in the locker room with the pads on the ground, he he mentioned you know, his knee was a little sore, and then you could you could visibly see his knee was sore taking off his shoe when he was getting into the ring. And then I don't know if you noticed this, Jordo, but when they're standing in the ring after Bruce Buffer does his thing, again, legendary call by Bruce Buffer. Well done, Bruce. Um, but when they're standing there, it pans to Holloway, and he's just he's dry, he just looks normal, and then it goes to McGregor and he's just leaking sweat, just leaking. Yeah, it looked it did not look good, and I think I think that's because he knew his knee was a little bit injured. I don't think it was to the extents where he got where it got to after he threw that kick. And you know, if you watch enough of McConnell McGregor, he always has like a an opening five-second game plan of what he thinks is gonna work, and obviously what he thought was going to work was that kick. And he, even though his knee was injured, which he probably should have changed his plan, knowing his knee was a little bit injured, he still went forward with it, wrist at all, landed on it, made the knee that much worse, and then now you got possibly the biggest letdown in UFC history. Um, not surprising whatsoever. I mean, Giordo, you take off like some of these fighters, like you see any of them. If you take off even two years, they can't really come back. He hasn't fought in five years or whatever.
SPEAKER_00So it's like and was on an absolute bender for four and a half of them. Just like hammering snow, hammering proper 12. I mean, we're talking Motley crew bender, yes, and just doing everything under the sun of just the demons coming out of him for what it took to be that champion in the first place, coming from the hellfires of Dublin. But when you look at it too, like his face was puffy, he looked, he just looked off. He looked like there was he knew something wasn't right. He didn't look like the confident Connor McGregor stepping into the ring or even the day before when he was at the press conference. Don't you think, Ozo, it had to be some sort of like soft tissue injury where it's not a full injury to the knee, but it's enough where you overcompensate maybe a little bit in training, and then it is sore, and you're you're obviously always getting worked on. It's just especially being a fighter at 37 or 38 years old, it's no different than being a hockey player at that age, or even you know, above the age of 35, where you constantly have to get soft tissue work. My theory is there was a soft tissue injury somewhere in that knee down the leg. You overcompensate for at least a couple weeks, it flares up on you a couple days before, maybe a week, and you go in fully thinking that okay, well, subconsciously, I know I'm a little off, but consciously, it's like you try to get back to that level and just block it out, and that's where you see the injury because there is a weakness there. Uh, that's what it looked like to me. I can't believe he still went for the kick, but just everything leading up to that, and he just had like a nervous energy when he was even walking out. Yeah, it seems it seemed like compared to I mean Patty Pimlet, we'll get into him in a little bit, but just the differences between the the two guys there. Um, you know, the Englishman and the Irishman. Uh, it just it didn't look like Connor. His face, it looked like he hadn't slept, he was just something was totally off.
SPEAKER_02You knew something was going on, yeah. And and I I'm not sure, you know, and then people are saying, well, he knew he was injured and he knew he was gonna call it right away. Um, yeah, I was gonna that's what I wanted to to collect his check, right? Because what does he get? 30 million dollars if he shows up and steps into the ring.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_02Um, yeah, that's part of it. But I also think he probably thought he could he could do it, you know. And I think he he thought he could do it, and obviously, I you know, if he was 23 years old, he probably calls the fight off, I'd imagine. But in this scenario, when you've waited five years and there's so much hype going into it, and you're already at the the finish line, you gotta go through with it. And I I don't think he was just doing it trying to collect a check. I think he actually thought, like, maybe I can make it through this fight, and then yeah, the worst happened.
SPEAKER_00That's why I wanted to ask you. Do you so say he was a little bit banged up before? Nothing structurally wrong, but again, if we're saying soft tissue, uh, maybe just some different things in and around the knee, even on the leg. Do you think he used that kick for an out of the fight? Or was that was he really going in to try to land that kick? Or was that the out? Was that the hey, maybe I can't do this? I I I have a hard time believing Connor McGregor after five years throws a kick purposely trying to get hurt.
SPEAKER_02That's I really do.
SPEAKER_00I really do.
SPEAKER_02I don't I don't think he does. I I I think it was a dumb play knowing because because you gotta imagine, like these guys are fighting and sparring leading up to these fights, and they're all dealing with some sort of small injury going into these fights. Um and they all know like the only way they're getting paid is if they step into that ring, so they're all stepping in there a little injured, even if you know you hear stories like, oh yeah, he fought with like a kind of a broken wrist, and he just went through with it because he wanted to get paid. Yep. Um I think, yeah, like I think he thought he could make it through the fight, and that that kick was the final straw, and then after that, he just couldn't stand on it and do anything. So it was it was the worst case scenario for UFC, obviously. Like Dana White's got to be doing investigations, like seeing like Diddy actually just step into the ring and to collect the check, knowing he couldn't move forward. But um he did look like he was moving around pretty decent before like when they were in the locker room, you know, and they're showing him like warming up. Like he looked like he was he was jumping around pretty pretty decent. But like I said, there was that clip of them saying, like, ah, I think I heard it like I heard it pop, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, and so and you never know, too, Ozo, because it's you know, the devil you know is the devil you don't know, I believe is the quote. Like, what what would have happened if he would have been okay in that fight? Because even how he was moving, he didn't show a ton of his training, right?
SPEAKER_02Which was kind of you would have got absolutely piss-pounded. It was the best case scenario for him.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Like, I think he would have got knocked out, he would have got killed. I mean, he was the the war because again, he didn't release a ton from his camp, he was keeping it pretty secret. I think probably for good measure because he didn't want to show how slow he was. Even those kicks in the locker room when he wasn't, you know, quote unquote hurt, were not Connor McGregor athleticism kicks, those were like old grandpa kicks he was trying to land. Like Max Holloway is not getting hit with one of those kicks. I'm sorry, and I'm not a UFC expert, I just know the reaction time that Max Holloway fights with. There is no way one of those would have tagged him.
SPEAKER_02No chance, and and Max has been active for he's been one of the most active fighters in the UFC for the last 10 years, you know. Like he's always in the ring, and it it's it's it's like you know, let's let's say who who what's who's an NHL player that retired early.
SPEAKER_00I mean, Johnny Chase tried to just do it and he he couldn't do it anymore. You know, he tried to come back for one year.
SPEAKER_02It's hard, especially when he especially when I don't know, the fight game is such a game where like you're only good if you need the money. Like that's that is the motivating factor in the fight game is I need this fucking money, the desperation, that's why I'm doing it. And without that, like you're not gonna beat these guys who like have that that hunger and that drive. And yeah, you're right, Jordo. Like, I think this was best case scenario that as it was for Connor McGregor because your guy's ass beat. I mean, he would have got dummy. Oh, yeah, everyone was everyone was betting on McGregor too. Did you see 93% of the money was on McGregor? And I mean, I put $200 on Max Holloway because it was like this is free money, yeah. I mean, there's no chance McGregor wins, but everyone's betting on McGregor because they're betting on what they want to happen versus what they know will happen. And I knew Max Holloway was not losing that fight.
SPEAKER_00No, and and the crazy thing is with all the money being on McGregor like that at plus 245, some people even got him as high as plus 280. I mean, everyone, it just it just goes to show you how electric he is and how everyone just thought that they were getting the McGregor of 2017. It's just like the way that that guy has moved the needle for the UFC. I mean, it was kind of like one of those things, Oz, where I don't know if they're gonna give another fight. They probably will if he wants to, just because what he's meant to the sport and what he's meant to all these fighters that have come underneath him. I mean, he's the greatest UFC promoter of all time, not only for the sport itself, but just what he's done outside the ring. Uh, but it was almost like a thank you check from the UFC to Connor McGregor for 30 million dollars. Hey, we finally got you really pay what you were worth. You were underpaid this entire time. You stepped in the ring for six seconds, you get hurt, you don't get hit, you don't get knocked out, your face isn't fucked up. You know, you can get on with your life and just move on. But the crazy thing is, is I think this guy is actually gonna come back, he's gonna want another fight, they're gonna give it to him for a price where he's not gonna get 30 because they can't take that risk again of him putting up a bad product and their reputation of the UFC plummeting, but the guy will probably get another fight, he probably will. You have to, I mean if he wants one, he's got one for sure.
SPEAKER_02Look, look at the hype he brings.
SPEAKER_00Look at the ratings, it had better ratings than the UFC, uh UFC at the White House.
SPEAKER_02White House, yeah. Like you said, he's just the greatest promoter of all time. He's done so much for the the sport in UFC. I mean, in terms of an athlete, a single athlete promoting a single sport, he's gotta be 1A, right? Like, there's no other athlete in the world that has promoted their sport and themselves like he has.
SPEAKER_00Like, definitely not sport.
SPEAKER_02No, like he's he's he's the best salesman I've ever seen in my life. I mean, what he's doing is selling views to watch him fight, and I knew going into this, it was gonna be a joke. Like, if they would have actually fought, Max would have pieced him up. I mean, it would have it wouldn't even have been funny. But I'm watching these interviews and all this promotional stuff he's doing before the fight journal, and I'm starting to think like, holy shit, maybe he's gonna chance, and then I snap out of it, and then I'm like, no, like, don't fall into that goddamn trap. He's gonna get dummied. Yeah, but I'm watching him talk, and he's just he's such a salesman, man. It's unbelievable. It's it's honestly, it's just it's inspiring, honestly, because like he has no chance of winning that fight, and I know it, and then I listen to him talk and talk about the fight, and I'm like, holy fuck, he might win this fight, and I know he's not going to, and he's somehow convinced me.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's it's like your ugly buddy at the bar that can somehow, in your single days, bring home decent-looking women. It's like it doesn't make any sense, but he's selling himself to the point where somehow these women think they begin to believe he actually is as good looking as he says, and he talks, and that's McGregor. That's McGregor on the back half on holes, you know, not even he's not even on a hole 18. He's at the bar and he's looking to play more golf, and he's getting himself out there again, getting his big payday. I mean, Ozo, I I had taken on prize picks and shout out to prize picks for giving me my money back, but he had convinced me that he was gonna go over two and a half rounds. I that's what my bet the over under was two and a half rounds, and I took the over and he lasts you know 19 seconds or whatever it was. It was a little bit longer than that because he was sitting on his ass the whole time. But it's like, my god, and and the fact that you know Max gets a three million dollar payday, which he probably deserved more, to be honest.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I feel bad for him. I feel bad to take that fight.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, um, I wish they would have let Patty Pimlett come in the ring and fight Max Holloway right then and there because Patty was. Down to do it. I don't know if you saw Patty after his fight with the Frenchman. He was eating pizza, smoking his vape backstage, and Joe Rogan and also Dana White came up to him and they're like, Hey, uh great fight. And Patty's talking obviously in his sorcerer Liverpool accent saying, Hey, do you want me to go to fight Max right now? Like he was he was ready to go. At that point, that's when you need like an emergency backup, is what I was thinking. Like, if if the worst happens and a guy gets you know injured on a non-contact play, like have someone else ready to fight because you got a feel for those fans, man. Imagine like being like a hardcore McGregor fan. I love the guy, but I'm not hardcore. I wasn't there, I wasn't even thinking about going. But imagine being a hardcore McGregor fan, also spending your good, hard-earned money, most of these people just putting it on credit, five thousand dollar tickets for that to happen. I would be devastated.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I felt so bad for those people, and it's just I I honestly I know the UFC is doing well. I feel bad for them too, because you're gonna you're gonna have some pissed off fans, you're gonna have people who bought Paramount Plus or whatever to watch the fight on pay-per-view or whatever, and they're probably not gonna do it again. These people who paid for big time tickets going to the fight, they're probably not doing it again. Um yeah, it's it is it's such a risky thing. Like, just throw someone in there. These people just want to see someone get beat up.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they just want to see someone get knocked out. Yeah, yep.
SPEAKER_02So, yeah, you're right. I would I would have an emergency fighter in there. I know they I don't know if you saw those posts, Journal, of Mike Chandler weighing in as the emergency backup, and the UFC was like, Yeah, I don't know what he was doing there. We didn't invite him. He's not the emergency backup, but uh yeah, he weighed in.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was hilarious.
SPEAKER_02I don't what was that?
SPEAKER_00I think it's so funny when because it's every fight, obviously, it's magnitude when McGregor is fighting, especially after five years. But isn't it so funny that all of the UFC fighters always go to the big time fights? I find that so like it's cool, like it's like a literally a fraternity. Like, you got John Bones Jones there, you got obviously not a UFC fighter, but Mike Tyson was there. I mean, uh Sean Strickland is always in the mix. Mike Chandler, like Poirier would have been there if he was able to fly, but fuck he got kicked off a Delta flight a couple weeks ago because he was too pinned and tried to fight a security guard, then a cop. It's like these guys are always just it's like UFC fighters that aren't fighting go to these fights hoping there is a fight that'll break out and they're just ready to go.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. You've seen that like Strickland and uh Duplestis got into it and they got kicked out of a fight earlier. Like, yeah, they're hoping someone pushes them. I mean, these guys love fighting, you know, and and then and then people get mad at like who these fighters are. Like, yeah, 75% of them don't have great backgrounds, a lot of them have been arrested.
SPEAKER_00They're fighters, a lot of them would be criminals if this wasn't the outlet. Like, let's be honest.
SPEAKER_02Yes, they'd be in prison. I mean, they they need to fight. It's like it's just their addiction they have, you know. Like, they they need to chuck them and they need to feel tough, and they love getting punched in the face. And yeah, they're gonna get arrested a few times. You just gotta let them do what they want to do.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, and at least the people there, and at least you know, I was watching on Paramount. At least we got that Patty Pimblett fight. I loved the guy before, I am a diehard fan now. I obviously was familiar with his game, but you know, the pad tie, as he's calling it, the chokeout, which was incredible, calling it the pad tie. Um, you know, tying him up, the Frenchman, and then just the walkout was incredible. I mean, how much fun was that guy having walking out? Oswald, like that. That is when you know you're just in peak flow state, when you're coming out to heads with roll and you're jumping up backstage, you're a white boy with the cornrows, you come out, John Bones is doing your dance. Like, where's your head at?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Where's your head at? Like, man, that was that was so ballsy. Whatever they yeah, whatever they paid him was 10 times less than the amount he should have got. Because as a promoter, this guy to me has taken the UFC by storm after this fight to respond after he got beat up by Gachy, you know, and Sean O'Malley is is in the mix for promoters and just entertainers. But to me, Patty Pimlet, I hate to say it. If he gets that fight against Gacy, the rematch, and he wins that. I think to me, he's a face of the UFC, like the current one. I mean, he that walkout was insane. Oswald, that was one of the coolest things I've ever seen. I thought the Morgan Wallen walkouts are cool. Fuck he blew that out of the water.
SPEAKER_02He did. I was uh I was very impressed with the walkout. I I'm a big Patty fan, I like who he is, he's a great promoter. Um, I was a little worried for him. That was ballsy, because if you do that walkout and you get beat up, it is not a good look. So, like you're putting it all in the line there, and I love it, especially coming after a loss, coming out after a loss. And he came out and he's like, if I lost that fight, I would be I think I was retiring, you know, because and I think he's right. If you come out with that walkout and you lose second time in a row, you might have to retire. And it was funny watching his coaches because his coaches behind him were all serious and he's just jumping around having a good time, and his coaches were like panicking, they look they looked nervous, yeah. Um, that was unbelievable. I mean, fucking just pinned him. Just he called it too. If you watch his like pre-fight interviews, he's like, Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna choke him out in like first round.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, he said that he said he always comes out and he's aggressive, and he goes for either the kick or the takedown, and he's like, I'm just gonna counter that with a chokeout. And you saw him get him on the ground, and then he flipped him with both of his legs. And the referee right there wasn't Herb Dean, it was the other official was right in his right in his cage.
SPEAKER_02You had to feel his arm to see that he was and Patty was saying, he's like, Hey, buddy, he's out, yeah.
SPEAKER_00He's out, he's out laddie, yeah. Yeah, and then just his whole interview afterwards, and then the first thing he's asking his team when he gets back to the locker room or walking through the tunnel of T Mobile Arenas, where's me vape? Like he wanted to just hammer his vape, you know what I mean. Like, it's just like he's talking about his post-game party in the interview. Like, man, that see to me that the Patty Pimblet fight, how it went is to perfection. You dodge that first one, you get in there with the choke out under a minute, you make a couple sheets, you're in and out, you don't get hit. Like that to me, Azzo, you never know how a fight's gonna go. But it when you're like thinking about all the scenarios, fuck, I might get knocked out, I'm gonna get my you know, jaw wired shut after this. Like, that has to feel incredible. I can't imagine the stress those guys go through.
SPEAKER_02Oh fuck, leading up to the fight, too, because everything's riding on like even the guy he beat, he was uh high up in the rankings. Now he's probably career kind of in the in the dumps now. It's almost over for Saint Denis or Don Denois. Um, and then Patty, like how long what's his lifespan look like? It's gotta be like he's not making it past 55, right? If he's just putting on 200 pounds every other three months and then taking it off and then putting it on, like that can't be great for the organs, eh?
SPEAKER_00No, I mean his quote about his weight loss for people that don't know him. He fights that 155-160, famously goes up to 210 right after his fights, cuts 55 pounds, 60 pounds for his fights. And also his quote was great was what he said, he's I'd just rather be fat and happy. He doesn't fucking care, he just wants to booze with his boys in Liverpool, wants to chuck them every six months, and just wants to get drunk and fucking eat whatever he wants, fish and chips. The guy, from a promotional standpoint, um, he's hard not to cheer for.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, he's he's great, and that accent he has is just an old time, you can barely understand what he's saying, but you kind of understand what he's saying, and it's just the best. It's like it's like I don't know, something about those those English accents and and like the Ireland Connor McGregor accent, it just it adds a little flavor to it, where like I don't really know if I can if an American, like normal speaking American, can can gain that attraction and promotion um with without one of those accents, it just adds an extra flavor that just fires you up.
SPEAKER_00I think, and I say this with all due respect, I think if a fighter out of like South Boston, like Charlestown, had like a rear admiral spit chicklets accent, that would be so nails. Like some white boy, like Patty Flanagan, you know, you come in and just fucking throw, and he's just like this little southy guy, like 5'8 to 5'10, you know, probably fights at like banner weight, 135. That would be pretty nails with like a leprechaun tattoo. That would be pretty sick.
SPEAKER_02That that would be a good one, or you know, the only other one the US has to offer, I think, is like that that southern like twang, not not necessarily like a southern plantation owner, but like you know, like that that guy on the Carolina Panthers, I don't know his name, like Xavier like that. Yeah, yes, someone talking like him would be electric too. Like that guy's that guy's got a great accent.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, duck dynasty, even like born on the bayou, like Louisiana, yeah.
SPEAKER_02True, shroom a little bit, yeah. You can't understand them, but you can't you know what they're saying.
SPEAKER_00Yes, Cy just talking like you know, got crawfish broil all over his fucking breath. That would be yeah, there's some that could that could work, but you're you're right. I that accent is just so electric, and the faster he talks, you have no idea what he's saying. I don't even know if he knows what he's saying, to be honest. Um, he's just talking a million miles a minute like he's on a bunch of dust, got the typewriter draw going. But yeah, that was uh it was a good night of the UFC Azzo. Um, too bad for Connor McGregor, but uh like we said, he'll probably find a fight, someone ranked low. Dana White will give him one, and that could be the calling card. Honestly, what he should do is just go over to Jake Paul's victory network, fight on Netflix, fight Floyd Money Mayweather in an exhibition boxing match, and they can each make a hundred million each because who knows? Floyd's broke. I don't know if Connor's broke, but they could both probably use the scratch.
SPEAKER_02Oh, you know that fight's coming. Yeah, you know, probably a McGregor. I think I don't know what the contract terms are, but McGregor's definitely got one more fight left with the UFC on his contract. So I don't know what he's allowed to do outside of that.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_02But as soon as that's done, I mean he'll fight McGregor, he'll fight Mayweather, probably Manny Pacquiao, probably Mike Tyson once, Jake Paul for sure.
SPEAKER_00For sure, yes. Paulie will get in there.
SPEAKER_02Um, and probably some other influencer that comes up the ranks in 10 years or so.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, clavicular, if he's yeah, still a dude, you know, like one of those guys for sure. Yeah, no, a hundred percent.
SPEAKER_01That's good.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, um, but great night overall in Vegas. Always love watching a fight night. I gotta get to one of those. You've been to a UFC fight, right, Azzo?
SPEAKER_02A boxing match, never UFC.
SPEAKER_00Was it Canelo?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, Canelo, uh Crawford.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was a good tilt.
SPEAKER_02Sick.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I gotta get to I want to get to a UFC fight so bad. I gotta look next time where Patty's gonna be chucking because that's that'd be a bucket list for me.
SPEAKER_02Oh, it'd be the a UFC fight would be all time. I I the boxing match I went to was unbelievable, but I think a UFC a good card, and and if it turns out well, like that's the thing. You could you're you're taking a fairly a fairly big risk going to these these fights because they could be duds, like yeah. Sometimes you go to a card and it's like no one got knocked out, no one gets submitted. There weren't really good fights, they're wrestling on the ground the whole time. So you are taking a risk going to UFC fight or a boxing match, but if they're if it turns out to be good, it's it's as good as a sporting event can get.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, and and Dana White is truly the best promoter in in the game, and not just suck the guy's wrench, but just the to have the wherewithal, Ozo, to sign Sophie Cunningham as she's sitting ringside to be a ringside girl because she wanted to do it. They drew up a contract, she got in the ring for that fight just before Max and Connor got in there as well. Um, that's why he is the best because he just makes shit happen on the fly, just like the White House event, just like fighting outside in Dubai during COVID. Um, he did it at the sphere one time, getting on a team up, but the guy just moves and shakes. So, uh, in terms of a businessman, that was pretty cool seeing Sophie. I will say, Sophie um maybe didn't have the uh how do I put this the uh life vest up top as most of those ringside girls. Um, but she looks good. The legs were going. Uh, she looked good for Soph. Um, a little ringside, but Azzo gonna slide it over to the ice. Detroit Red Wings news today, July 15th. Uh Steve Eiserman told to pack his shit. Uh obviously, it's a classy organization, but Chris Illich, the uh chairman with the Detroit Red Wings, Tom Illich, the owner of the team, um, who had brought the Red Wings originally to Detroit back in the day. His son Chris is now the you know sitting uh chief of staff, reassigned Iserman somewhere up in the stands, told him you don't have to go home, but you can stay here. Um, we're gonna find a new general manager. Just thought the timing was uh a little bit weird. Uh post-draft, post-free agency, and obviously with the Larkin news looming. What were your thoughts to make of that? Why does a move like this happen now versus you know, not right after the season, where a new GM could come in, see the draft out, see free agency, maybe try to structure something with or rekindle with Larkin, uh, maybe even bring in a new coach. I just thought the timing was a little weird.
SPEAKER_02A little weird. The timing screams to me that you know uh Stevie Y and ownership were clashing, they weren't agreeing on things. You know, I don't know what that was. Obviously, there's a lot going on around this Larkin deal and the Red Wings being in a decade-long rebuild. Um, but to me, it seems like Stevie Y was probably if I had to guess, he's getting pressure from ownership. They're butting heads, they're maybe telling him, like, hey, let's move Larkin. What the fuck are you doing? And he's like, No, we can get more for him. Fuck you, I'm not moving off this deal. Because right now it looks pretty damn good, doesn't it? Like with the term he's on and the and the contract they have him signed to. So um, I think a bit of that happened because yeah, it's it's not good timing at all. If you're gonna get a new GM, you're gonna want him drafting, you're gonna want him making these decisions.
SPEAKER_00Um signing free agents, bringing players in.
SPEAKER_02So I I that that's what I think happened, and ultimately Stevie Wise's like, well, then fuck you guys. Like, I'm gone if I'm not getting you know what I want here, and they're like, All right, we'll see you later. So it's probably a little bit of a mutually a mutual agreement between the two that they're just like they're done. And obviously, Stevie Wise had a tough go at it in Detroit, so you can't blame the guy for getting a little ordery in uh in uh motor city.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no playoffs in 10 years under the tenure of Steve Iserman, right? Uh, as a general manager there, moved off, obviously built that team up in Tampa, did a tremendous job. They ended up winning a couple mugs, and he moved to Detroit. And you know, they haven't made the playoffs in 10 years, 10 fucking years for an original six franchise. Like you said, Oswald's a great point. Is there had to be a disconnect between the ownership, clearly, and the manager. Now, whether that was keep Larkin, move Larkin, maybe Chris Illich is like, Fuck, we we want to keep this guy. This is a Michigan-made man. Uh, maybe we can you know amend this and and and steer him in a different direction to want to stay here. And Stevie's like, Well, fuck, he's gone the minute I get a good deal. Or maybe it's the other side, like you were saying about maybe it's the other side of the coin saying, Hey, move this guy if he doesn't want to be a Detroit Red Wing, get him out of here. He's like, Well, fuck, if I'm not getting the market value for him, we're hanging on to this player, and he's still committed as our captain for the next three or four years. So that had to be it. It's just I find it weird timing. I a lot of times I think as an ownership group, you know, you especially with a manager like this who has been a storied player manager, a winner for you, guy that has his number retired, it's got to be really tough. Um, but it just probably reached its boiling point of like, all right, we we probably knew we needed to get rid of him and make a change, and this really confirmed it. Uh, just feel for the guy coming in. I mean, it's a great job to get, it's one of the classiest organizations still in the game, but you know, you got to figure out now, okay, now we're through free agency, everyone's off the board. What do we do with Lurk? And do I like this coach? Uh, our pending restricted free agents, what do we pay these guys? Like a Simone Evanson, who's a you know, uh highly touted defenseman that has a trajectory to be a top pairing, top one defenseman, you know, your your number one guy. There's just a lot of looming things with that team um that you're stepping into the fire. And you got to make sure you get this manager situation straightened out and make sure you really get the guy that I think is experienced to do so. Otherwise, I mean, they might not be in the playoffs for another five years if they fuck this up.
SPEAKER_02Who are they gonna go out and get though? Like, who I guess I'm I'm not I'm not too I'm not too up to speed on who who's out there for GMs. They call Bryn Chizzick up. I don't know if he's there yet, but um yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I like do you go do you go after uh a highly touted assistant general manager? Do you go after you go through the the boys club of guys that have been recycled before the mark bergevins who are always in the the mix for these jobs, the peter shirelli's like to me, I don't go that way, but you do need some fresh blood in there. And honestly, Azo, whoever you bring in as your manager, and this is no disrespect to Todd McCullum, that coach has got to go too. The one three one. I I I can't watch that hockey. It's you're you're never gonna win playing that style of hockey. It's not 1996 with fucking jock lemaire. I don't care what you say. You you gotta change the brand of what you've been playing for you know the last two or three years.
SPEAKER_02Um think, right?
SPEAKER_00I I mean I hope so, right? Do you have all this young promising skill and we're playing a 1-3-1? It's just there's a lot of different things there that aren't going right, but it's I'd be curious to see who who they go get. I don't I don't even know where you start. Like they had to have someone in mind, right?
SPEAKER_02I should go offers sheet Stanley Bowman and bring you know Babs with them. Yeah, bring the baby. Bring the old crew back.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, can you imagine? I wonder, I wonder if like Chris Pronger gets a call, you know. I I don't I don't know if he's he's necessarily the guy, but he definitely has good quality leadership um abilities.
SPEAKER_02Is it someone seems like he knows what he's talking about, too?
SPEAKER_00Right, or is it someone that you source locally that's been doing it in Grand Rapids, the Chris Drapers of the world? Um, you know, you bring in Nick Lidstrom to oversee some different things. Do you go with past players? To me, Azzo. I I always like having past players that have won in organizations. I think it works well even at the collegiate level for the model, say that what we know at UND. But for some reason, in this instance with Detroit struggling as bad as they did, I think you might need to look elsewhere and step outside of your realm, surround the guy that you're gonna go get with some of that blood that's won the championship pedigree in Detroit. But something screams to me that you gotta look outside the box here and bring in some fresh blood.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I would I would agree. I mean, something's gotta change in Detroit, like they've been stagnant for so long. Um, yeah, not a good spot to be. I don't know if I'd rather be them or the ducks right now. Like, fuck yeah, the ducks are in a tough spot too. Did you see uh, I don't know, what is it, Yandel saying he heard from the grapevine that cutter goche want nothing less, not a dollar less than Leo Carlson? Like, yeah, oh, he's gone then, and who's gonna pay him? I mean, someone, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they got nine million in space to pay him, right? So that's he wants double. And if you know the player, he was a player that before he even came to the National Hockey League didn't want to play in Philadelphia, so he's not scared to voice not only what he's worth, but where he wants to play and dictate his own faith. And to his credit, he has kind of backed that up uh so far in his two-year career.
SPEAKER_02He kind of has yeah, one and a half year. He took a real big risk and he kind of seemed like he was like, Hey, buddy, this is the new child. I don't know if he can pick these things, but what did he have? Like 40 tucks last year. Well, maybe maybe you can decide your future, then, buddy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, that's gonna be interesting. I mean, Patty Verbeek really like hindsight's always 2020, but he really fucked the dog not getting Leo Carlson locked up early and you know, ultimately trying to play hardball with him, not getting him, you know, to a number that would have been more team friendly. And and just like that, Philly slides in and says, Fuck you. You know, you took Goatye. Well, have fun with this. Samuel Elli family, you own Disney. Okay, how do you like forking over 20 million in signing bonus for the next six years and then 18 million after that for years, you know? So it's just like six front.
SPEAKER_02This thing's front loaded ownership. Sorry.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Here's a here's your five-year deal at about 100 million. Go eat that. Um, yeah, so that that that'll be interesting. But I'm I'm curious what's gonna happen in Detroit. I I think there are some some names out there that I do think that the manager is important. I do think uh coaching change is is equally as important there. Also, speaking of former Detroit Red Wing, Pat Kane. Um, our boy, if you can't tone it, Tannic Chris Chelios was on local Chicago radio, I believe yesterday, talking about Kaner, his good pal, saying where he may go. Now, I had got in a leak or I guess a little birdie had inclined me that Pat Kane was gonna sign in Buffalo on free agency day on July 1. That didn't happen. I reached back to that source and I said, What's going on? You just, you know, not that I care, I'm the fucking people's insider, but I got people coming after me asking me questions. I didn't put out a statement because I don't give a shit. But he had basically told me that he was close to signing with Buffalo on that day, took a step back, wanted to reassess, and was in no rush to sign a deal, not only in Buffalo, but across the league. He wanted to see it play out. Chris Chelios, as of July 14th, came out and said he talked to Kaner, and it is in between Buffalo and Chicago now. So gun to your chin. Where does Showtime 88 end up? Is he back in Chi Town with a team that really can't win? Or does he go home, fella?
SPEAKER_02I know, I know Showtime's from Buffalo, Jordo. I just I think he lands in Chicago.
SPEAKER_00Easy, right? He's always lived there.
SPEAKER_02He knows it. He's showtime. Buffalo isn't showtime. Chicago is showtime. You're Patty Kane. Go back. I know you're from Buffalo, but Chicago's home.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It has to be now, right? Like, he owns that city.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he's always gone back there. He's got two or three places there. He's worked out there every summer. He he's showtime. Does showtime showtime only plays for original six franchises, right? Yeah, like he probably does. He's probably even thinking about it also to the fact that like I don't even want another team on my hockey DB.
SPEAKER_02No, no, you don't want you don't want that Buffalo Stabers jersey hanging up in the man cave there, your your basement, you know, with all your other jerseys. Like, yeah, you don't need that. You don't you don't need the Buffalo jersey there? Like, let's let's keep it yeah, original six.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he doesn't, yeah. He only he only plays in original six franchises, which was obviously Chicago, New York, and then Detroit. Yeah, you may be right. I he, you know, Chelios was the same way, right? He played, I guess, a little bit at the end of his career when he's like 48 with Atlanta, but he was Montreal, Chicago, Detroit, um, only original six. I I want him to go to Buffalo just because I think they could they could use him and they keep they're not gonna win, I don't think, but they could go on a little bit of a run, maybe round two or three again. Yeah, but I just I have a hard time like you, man. Now that he's backed off it and he's back in Chicago working out, getting acclimated. Like he's probably driving to the United Center and practicing that fifth third every day, thinking like fuck, I just slide across the hall here. I don't really care what I'm you know, they give me, they give me one year at three bananas. Who gives a shit? I've made a hundred, hundred and twenty.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he's he's got what was it two or three mugs? Three, three mugs. Um, I don't think you need to go. I know, I know in Patty Kane's head and all these all these hockey players, the goal is to win that Stanley Cup. Well, when you got three of them, yeah, your motivation to win the cup isn't the same as a guy who's got zero.
SPEAKER_00And you have a kid, and you have a kid too that is around the age where they're starting to probably get on the ice, remember what you do. You're such a bigger legend in Chicago on a way bigger market of a team than if you go to Buffalo. Like, there's I love Buffalo, and I've been very adamant about the Buffalo Sabres, and I love Chippewa Street, but that's not the same pulling up to the key bump arena on a Tuesday in January as it is pulling up to the United Center in your Hummer, like Showtime. Just not the same.
SPEAKER_02No, not even close to the same.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so we'll see.
SPEAKER_02Special events probably your last year, yeah. Right? Yeah, probably is.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I would say I in a perfect world, he'd probably want to the the hang up is probably term right now. He's probably saying, Hey, I want a two-year deal at 10 million. They're probably saying, Hey, we can give you a one-year deal with a three two and a half million dollar base, and you know, over 35 and get those performance bonuses at 10 games, 20 games, so you can make a certain amount of money and it doesn't count against the cap. I I bet that's probably what the hang up is there. I would anticipate Buffalo would probably be offering more scratch and maybe even term, but at that point, he he doesn't care. Just give me a fair number, and I'll just I'll go dance on the ice, play with Bedard.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, might as well.
SPEAKER_00And also Bedard being hurt for the start of the season, they're probably like, Well, fuck, we need a power play one guy, too.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, and he Patty King can definitely still do that, yeah. Um fuck that sucks. That sucks on Bedard too.
SPEAKER_00It does.
SPEAKER_02See if the injury bug, I don't know. It seems like it early on, it's it's not looking good right now, but it's like, what do you pay that guy too?
SPEAKER_00He he's up for a deal, he's gotta get paid before the season starts.
SPEAKER_02And and like if he's healthy, he's worth probably 18 million now.
SPEAKER_00Who isn't worth 18 million?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but is the guy gonna be healthy? Now you're now you're really worried about it.
SPEAKER_00I know. I he's seemed to be banged up early. I mean, he's your perennial all-stars, he's your you know, player of the future. You just paid Bo Byrum 12 and a hook. You gotta think, you gotta think Bedard on a even a five-year ticket's asking for probably 18, right?
SPEAKER_02Has to be. If if Leo Carlson's getting paid that much, now I would rather take you Leo Carlson on my team right now rather than Connor Bedard, just with Leo Carlson's size and what he can bring, I think, in the playoffs. But yeah, Bedard's right there, that can be argued.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think there's less, there's there's less risk in the player that Leo Carlson is going to become. Like, probably Leo Carlson's trajectory is probably like what an Anse Copotar?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I was I was thinking Anza Copitar, right?
SPEAKER_00Where Bedard can play center, he's more the wing, has probably the star power to be a more I would say electric player. Is that fair for sure, right? So, but it does he get to that level, you know. Is is he one day the 120-point player or is he an 80-point player? You know, I mean both are pretty good, but you know, it's still 40 points in between there, 40 points in between there and a lot of million, yeah. And is he a true center? Which I think he will get to, he's still young, but yeah, that's he definitely doesn't have the size. Um, and we still haven't seen the best from Connor Bedar, but also at the same time, get the guy some fucking linemates. Like, if you're gonna overpay, like go overpay, go overpay a forward. I mean, I like Bobinram, but go overpay a forward for a go get a winger for someone he can play with, trade that fourth overall pick for a winger. I mean, you go back to their draft with Artem Levchev, right behind him was that Bennett Seneca guy in Anaheim and Ivan Demidoff. That's a little bit of a miss. Oh, that's looking tough now, isn't it? Tough. I mean, Lepsha Lepshinoff could be a serviceable, good defense, but but right now that ain't looking great.
SPEAKER_02I mean, how long are the Hawks are the Blackhawks gonna go through this? I mean, you you look up and down their roster, they're I don't know, I they're in one thing and things on paper aren't what they are in real life, right? But on paper, the Blackhawks are terrible. Yes, I mean they look brutal. Yeah, they they don't look any better than they were five years ago.
SPEAKER_00No, they have a bathroom tenant assemble assembly line of veteran players that are just random players, to be honest. The the's of the world, Tara Vinon, a lot of these guys on expiring deals, Bertuzzi, solid player, but it's still just random veteran players with a yeah, I would say uh a B level of prospects, you know. No one that has really popped off yet, besides the Bedard. Now we'll see how this Anton Lundell is, right? Or not Lundell, uh, what is it, Fundell?
SPEAKER_02Frundell.
SPEAKER_00Frundell, you know, he's a high pick. What second overall?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he was pretty damn good. Let me try to check this what he when he got drafted. Third overall, third overall.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so that guy, so to me, also that guy's got to be become like a Leo Carlson.
SPEAKER_02They need something, they need one of those guys to turn it into that.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I don't I don't love their back end. I don't really like their like that. Rin. I don't I don't the book is still out for that Sam Rinzel kit for me, too.
SPEAKER_02Rinzel is is he's decent, but we you you got every every NHL team's got two or three of him, yeah. Um and yeah, I mean they just paid. I don't know if how much the caps going up and stuff, but Bo Byram getting 12.5.
SPEAKER_00Right, he's better than what you got.
SPEAKER_02He he is, he's their best defenseman, but him being your best defenseman, that's that ain't great either.
SPEAKER_00So for me, you you gave away the fourth overall pick, right? For Bo Byram and uh another piece, a throw-in piece. If I'm a manager and I don't know everything, but if you're the Chicago Blackhawks and you're Kyle Davidson, you're not gonna be good in the next three years, right? We can we we're fair to say we're not gonna win a Stanley Cup in three years. I I think we know I think we know that.
SPEAKER_02I would say if they're realistic, they'd they're not gonna win a cup in five years, right?
SPEAKER_00So, but even if you're overzealous and you think maybe we could do it in five. Yeah, why do you give up a fourth overall pick to pay overpay defenseman that's gonna be a UFA in five years, which again, you're not gonna win a Stanley Cup, and you'll probably sign elsewhere. Where we could have drafted the uh a number at number four, a perennial number one defenseman in a very heavy defensive draft. That's my only question. The Verhoffs of the world, uh, the the Reeds, the Carson Carrolls. Like, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02There's so many this year, so many. I think they gotta fair to say they gotta be gun shy from Levchinov. They're like let me just fucking trade this pick and get someone we know who can actually play.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely, they are. We'll see. I mean, I would say at least three, and you just gave up your fourth overall pick for a window where we didn't really need his services, is all I'm saying. Like, like I mean, some of those defensemen, man, for a for an for no price either, are pretty good, and they're probably gonna be pretty good in three years.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. I mean, they missed, yeah. I think you know, if you take out Levchinoff, they probably keep that pick and draft someone. They they gotta just be real gun shy on doing that again. But this was the draft to do it. I mean, I remember when they drafted Levchinoff, and I watched him at Michigan State, and we talked about him. We're like, this guy is he's saying he's 18, he's 24. Yep, um, he's already bald. Um, I was just so surprised when they took him at two. I mean, that was crazy, wasn't it? Like it's like I mean, I watched this guy at Michigan State. It's like what am I watching here? Am I blind or yeah? They seeing something else, like can they have a magic eight ball? They can see the future, and they can see this kid's gonna be good because he's not that great right now.
SPEAKER_00Yep. Um, yeah, 10 to 10 to 15 would have made sense. I could even say stretching out, pick him at eight if you want to, if you want to leap a little bit. Yeah, go number two, fella. Like number two, you gotta be stepping. I don't care if you're even a defenseman.
SPEAKER_02You gotta you're hoping you're hoping for a Hall of Famer at two.
SPEAKER_00You're hoping he steps, yeah. You're hoping he steps in the lineup and is like asserts himself. Like Oslo, you again, development isn't linear, and we'll see if this kid turns into an NHL player, which hopefully he does for the Chicago Blackhawks sake. But most two overall picks don't struggle at the American Hockey League level, and that's what he was doing this year when at times. It's like, holy fuck, we're in one here. We got we got some acres to farm with this kid.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's almost like you when you when you're a GM in that scenario, you almost gotta like just make the kid live with you and just fucking babysit him, like make sure he's skating and shooting pucks all goddamn day, or else you're out of a job.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, that's that you're for sure right. They were gun shy with picking another defenseman um at four. But I even thought you could have gone and got a a forward too at number four. I just thought it was a very defensive.
SPEAKER_02It was stacked.
SPEAKER_00The defense was stacked, and you went out and got Byron for an overpayment where the writing was on the wall where you could have just drafted someone, but um maybe that's why you know we should be the GM instead of Kyle Davidson. So um, that's our note on Chicago. Lastly, we have the People's Insider term of the week, and this week's People's Insider term of the week is Ted Bundied. Now, when you think about Ted Bundy, you probably don't think the greatest things you probably think, Well, this guy might have killed a couple people. This guy did some dirty work, he was a flat out serial killer. But stay with me here when you are out on the town, or maybe you're just kind of hanging out, you're at a cookout, you're with a group of your best boys, and you get a little bit too drunk. You're kind of sitting around, the buckets of beers are flying. You maybe stand up after a long time of sitting, and you look around, and you go, Holy fuck, I am bundied right now. And your buddy looks at you, go, No fella, you are Ted Bundied. So it's a spin-off to say that you are absolutely tattooed, you are completely shit faced, and you don't know where you're gonna go from here. You don't know if this beer, this next one might end you like Ted Bundy, but you might need to mix in a water. So, Ozo, this week's People's Insider term of the week is when you're really intoxicated, absolutely shit faced, can't see straight. You are Ted Bundied fella.
SPEAKER_02We've all been Ted Bundied a time or two.
SPEAKER_00Oh god, have we ever?
SPEAKER_02It's not fun either. You don't want to be Ted Bundied.
SPEAKER_00No, no, it's it's to the point of no return a lot of the time.
SPEAKER_02Sometimes you just find yourself there. You don't know how you got there, but you're there and you are Ted Bundied.
SPEAKER_00You are buckled to the point where you're bundied and you can't even stand up. Your knees will buckle, fella. I am Ted Bundied. So that is this week's People's Insider term of the week. Cap always fun snapping around with you. That was a little UFC talk, that was a little bit of hockey. That was the fellas breaking it down. I will be in Minnesota next week. I'm coaching the hockey and sons camp, our boy Troy Ward. As you know, I was just want to give a quick shout out. Um, it's hard to camp to get into, but it's hockey and sons. So this camp he does every year, he's done it for 29 years. I used to go with my dad and my brother, it was the greatest week of the summer. You go to hockey camp with your dad, you stay in the dorms. It used to be at Chattock St. Mary's, now it's at Gustavus. So you stay in the dorms, you do a camp with your dad, the kids skate in the morning, the dads skate on their own, and then at the end of the camp, the dads play the kids. But I just remember the best days uh hanging out with your dad, going to hockey camp, seeing all the dads, sit around the fire, drink beers at night, the kids would run wild. It's not too long of a camp either, it's four days. Um, but it's really hard to get into. Wardo does four weeks a year for hockey and sons, and then there's daughters and moms. That camp um is one week, so he does five weeks. Um, but if you want to get into it next year, check it out, hockeyandsons.com. Like I said, it gets booked out every year. They post it within a week or two. Um, so it's a lot of fun. Um, you know, hopefully one day when I have kids, also you you have kids. Um, this is this is one of those weeks where man, it's it's so much fun.
SPEAKER_02So yeah, that sounds unbelievable. What an idea by Wardo, and also what what a guy Wardo is, too. The best, one of my favorite guys I've ever met, and I've only ever I've only met him over you know one of these interviews, but um that guy is all time.
SPEAKER_00Yep, he is. Um, he is the man, he's actually coaching in Shanghai this year. Well, it's in St. Petersburg, but he's going over to the continental associate head coach, yeah, for the uh Shanghai Dragons. They play out of St. Petersburg, which is, I think, by all accounts, a good Russian city. So um, yeah, yeah. Speaking of Russia, is Larry going back?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, he's going back. He's gonna head back in about two weeks.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so this will be at what year five over there?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Holy fuck, he's basically can he speak Russian yet?
SPEAKER_02He's gotta know some words. He's there.
SPEAKER_00They teach how to underline the flux seeds, don't they?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh man, alrighty, brother. Um, we'll chat soon, brother. That was live and five, folks. Thank you for tuning in. Gay Josmus, Jay Swish. We out, baby.
