Yeah, that's baseball. Alrighty, folks. Welcome back to Live and Five, baby. The Captain Gage Ozzo Osmus reporting live from the guts of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Jay Swish back in the desert, a balmy 112 degrees today. Ozzo, I've been here for roughly 36 hours. I'm ready to leave. I said on HB3 half joking yesterday. I might just put my place on the market. This place, I don't know if Al Gore was right, but global warming actually might be a thing. First of all, people don't realize this place doesn't cool off until about I would say Halloween. And this year, for whatever reason, it was getting to the hundreds before April. We're talking about March. So really you got five good months. And listen, I know you can't have it all anywhere you are unless you're in California. And I'm not going to Diddy Wood, but there are places in California like the San Diegos of the world that are 75 and sunny every day. You might have to battle a little bit of the gloom, but in rarity do you get it all. So I don't know, dude. I it's almost like it's just reverse season. I'm I'm inside all day. It's good for you know grinding through some different things I gotta do business wise, but fella, she's hot here.

It's I'm looking at the temp right now, Jordan. You're looking at, I mean, it's been it's had to have been hot there so for so long. It's 109, 111, 112, 113, 112, 110, 110. Those are that's your next forecasted days. I know there's no humidity there, which is what the Minnesotans always complain about. It's so humid, it's 85, but it's humid, so it feels like it's 200. Um, which does suck, but that 113-degree weather in Arizona, I don't care if it's not humid at all. I mean, that's a fucking oven.

Yeah, I just can't believe years back we always talk about the golf trip, but years one and two, when we were golfing in 117 degrees, I mean, what were we doing? We tried that. If we try that on some 30-year-old bodies these days with guys out of shape and barrels and who knows, type two diabetes on the way, we might just lose somebody.

That's when you know you have to call the paramedics at Old Town and maybe rescue someone, one of our friends. Uh, not gonna name any names, but yeah, that's uh that's when it gets spooky hot. So sweating it out over here, Ozzo in the desert. Fella, I wanted to ask you, did you see that game film? It's all over the place, obviously on X. But the game film of Tony No Homo Romo, stick aniline, fella. I at first I thought he was an innocent man. Then I saw the body cam back at the police station of him doing the sobriety test, which listen, I don't even know if you if you were sober, you could pass that sobriety test. They're gonna find anything to pick you apart and make you seem like you're drunk. But he did the last straw for me was it is believed that there was maybe an open container, aka a road rocket in that mobile he was driving. He also said he was going to see his grandparents, which are all deceased. So Tony, uh tough luck, Tony might have been brownbagging it a little bit, Ozzle.

I think he was Jordo. Um, yeah, I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna condone or I'm not gonna, you know, get behind anyone driving drunk. You know, it's a dangerous thing. People have died from it. Uh, I'm not gonna say it's a smart idea. I I suggest anyone out there never does it. Yeah, but the guy, the sobriety test, you're right. The sobriety test was hilarious because they're you know, you're supposed to keep your head still, not move it, and follow the pen with your eyes, right? Like you're you're moving your eyes back and forth, but not your head. And they kept telling him to do it, and he kept just following with his head. He's like, wait, wait a minute, can I move my head or no? And then you're like, okay, maybe he is a little tuned up, but you know, I don't think he was at the point of dangerous driving tuned up, yeah. You know, which is why I'm willing to give him a pass. And you know, when that report came out, I actually texted Nikki. I was like, Please tell me you're playing at that golf tournament because I think he has in the past, right?

Oh, yeah. I mean, that's the Wisconsin State amateur. I caddied for Nikki one year, yeah, just out just outside of Waukeshaw. And Tony pulled up right from the bird from Lake Tahoe as he always does. Showed up, went right to the range with his track man, and yeah, he he had the yips that year. This year he played bad again. So I was thinking, I think he was like plus 20 or plus 22. He must have just had an awful second day to get him to that number and just went right to the bar and started just hammering whiskey.

I texted Nikki. I was like, please tell me you saw him stumbling out of the bar and hop into the hop behind the wheel. That'd be so funny if he saw it happen. Um, but Nikki wasn't there, apparently. That's what he told me at least.

Not this year. And but yeah, I mean, and then you find out in Wisconsin. I mean, this is the first time I've heard of this. You you might know about this, Jordo, but your first OWI operating while intoxicated in Wisconsin is like a hundred to three hundred dollar fine slap on the wrist. It's like a speeding ticket. I mean, you'd rather get an OWI in Wisconsin than a speeding ticket in Minnesota. Yeah, the fine is bigger for speeding in Minnesota than it is, uh, which would which is hilarious to see. It's so Wisconsin, isn't it?

Oh, yeah, you'd rather get caught drunk driving than just you know catch a domestic, right? It's you're on your way. A lot of times those OWIs they let you drive home, you know. It's like a it's like a parking ticket. Here's a little bit of a fine. We'll see you later. That's why you always hear about the guys in Wisconsin that literally also have like 10 DUIs. In the state of North Dakota, after a couple, they'll put you behind bars and they'll take away your license. Obviously, yeah. In Wisconsin, it's just a rite of passage, right?

It's just it's almost something you just you have on your record. If you don't have one, you're kind of scoffed. Yeah, if you have one, you try not to get the second. But that's what I've heard as well. Uh, from a couple other buddies that live in Wisconsin. It's just like you go to the bar and you talk to these guys who are at the bar, and they've all got three to four to five.

Yep, and somehow they still have their license. Like, yeah, after you get a few, right? You get the turkey, which is three. You know, obviously you're gonna have to take some time off of driving and stick handling, but oh, they'll give you your license back within, I mean, a year or so. I mean, you go to some of these small towns in the state of Wisconsin, also you go to the lakes of you know, Ridgeway, which is close to me. You go to the place called Old Duffers, which is just outside of Verona on County Road MM. You go to some of these small towns, man, the squirrel's nest, these places, you'll go in there and all they're talking is deweys.

Fully intending on driving home too. Oh, yeah. I mean, there's gotta be some towns up in Wisconsin you'd imagine that you know the the cops are a part of the community, obviously, in these towns. So you gotta imagine there's still some of that old time, like, all right, buddy, I'll follow you home, quit being an idiot. You know, like they're not even handing them out. There's cops up there, I can imagine.

No, I mean, you've been to Lambeau Field too, and the the amount of people tailgating and drinking and then driving out of there is literally, I would say, over 90% of ticketed people going into that game, spectators. Like, it's just it's comical, you know. I I've seen a guy coming out of Lambeau Field literally stumble and fall while holding a road rocket bushlight, walking out of the stadium. I don't know how he had a he had his own beer, it was a BYOB, pulled it out of like a snow suit, overalls, camo, obviously. Hits his head, like they trips, falls back of his head is knocked out, and then 35 seconds later is getting into his Toyota tundra, and he's driving. Oh, yeah, like all of his buddies saw it. It was a like he was knocked unconscious. You know, maybe the parking lot's just empty the next day. And they always say it's just especially a lot of my buddies that live in Madison or the the greater Dane County area. I mean, again, listen, guys, we're we're not condoning drunk driving. Let's be clear on that. But this is true. People will literally just caravan back to Madison, just you know, going up 51. So, what they do is you know, you get through Appleton, Oshkosh, and then you get into the small towns, and then you obviously into Beaver Dam, and then that's kind of where you know Dane County becomes um separated where you're going on the south side and Verona, or you're on the east side of Madison. But it's just kind of like Osw, you get in the right lane and everyone's going 55, and you just kind of follow each other, right? So it's it's just this one big caravan go and back to Madison. Same thing on 94 going back to Milwaukee, but it's literally everyone is drunk because you really can't get a ride there. And do you think people in Wisconsin aren't gonna booze before a Packer football game? Well, get bent.

It'd be hilarious to see how many beers Lambill Field had sells per game, and then there's zero parking, there's zero cars in the parking lot the next morning. It's like okay, something happened here. Someone drove home after a few beers because we just sold a billion Bud Light, bushlight, whatever it is, and there's no cars here the next day. So someone um was behind the wheel, OWI.

Yeah, yeah. I would I I would probably say like 13 and a half before the game, and then maybe like two, two and a half, two or three, yeah. Yeah, probably like two, because they want to watch the game, right? Yeah, they're dialed in. So I'd say, yeah, probably like two, they'd have one at halftime, so maybe five. I would say that's probably the line, so probably twenty, uh, a gentleman's right over over the seven or eight hours they're there.

People always accuse him of being a little fucked up when he's with Jim Nance on on Sundays on CBS. I've never really found that. Um, like I don't watch like every game on Sunday, so I wouldn't I wouldn't be the guy to ask. But people always like everything I read is like, is Romo banged up again? I'm like, uh I don't know. Like you could go anywhere in the world on a private jet. He he loads up the fucking suburban and takes the crew, the Romo crew, to the Kalahari. That is so nails.

So, like, am I am I am I like not giving my kid that opportunity? Do I want them growing up in Minnetonka? Yeah, you know, or her, sorry, him or her. Um, so I might have to get out to like a yeah, they them. Hopefully not. Uh I might have to get out to like a smaller town to raise the kids.

Yeah, but you got you got enough East Grand India where you can pop back there, you can pop back to forks if they need to stiffen up their chin. And I'll tell you what, it there's worse places to be. Like you could be trying to raise a kid in Scottsdale, Arizona, and he's gonna turn into an absolute pussy, you know, respectfully, of course. You know, there's a there's a fine line there. So I do think even though if you're eating a little bit of cake in the cities, you're still far enough north where you can take up you can take them up to the iron range, you can go fish on Lake of the Woods, you can go to Forks. So you're I think you'll be okay, and you know, as long as they're not as long as they're not in E Dinah.

Yeah, you know what I think is a kind of a nail gun pocket of Mini is in and around Stillwater. Great, great spot, you know, because you don't it it doesn't have the designer feel of some of the Y Zettas and the but you get a little you you got nice restaurants downtown 100. It's like sneaky nice that nobody just like there's actually really nice areas on the Saint Croix River, but yeah, you don't have that stereotype of you of what all that brings with the juices of some of those other places in and around Minneapolis.

Something about you can I can I can look at a Wisconsin beauty and be like that dude's from fucking Rhylander or that guy's from Round Lake, way different, Rice Lake. Like these beauties, they just you guys from Eagle River or Sheboyga, like I don't know. It's just they're fucked.

I grew up with 10 guys like that.

He's like, Yappa, who'd you got in a fight? He's like, Coach, what are you talking about? Hood you beat the shit out of your dick. It's like this guy, this guy can't even tug yet, you know? Like, Yapper is we're bo, we're 10. And then, you know, I was sitting at that wedding, he's like, Johto, I'm like, what? He's like, he's like, I'm cutting my drinks in half tonight. I go, Are you? He goes, Yeah, no mix.

But and there's just like these stupid cheap one-liners, but it was called Babes, and it was like a bar that all the dads would go hang out either after their kid was at Madison Ice Arena MIA, or maybe the you know, they would go have one meetup midday. It's kind of like a a bar you'd find in Forks, you know, all the happy-go-lucky dudes right off of Whitney Way. And it was called Babes, and he goes, Jojo, he just like thinks of the most random stuff when he said that. He's like, Johto, why did they call it babes when it was all dudes? Like, dude.

Thoughts on I just thought you can't put a price tag on what you're gonna pay him. Just uh want you to touch on that and how much that means to just the whole city.

Like, why would the Chicago Blackhawks organization ever shut the door on Patrick King? He's he's an icon in NHL and he'll be in the Hall of Fame. Um, it's just cool to see him back. He can still play at um the odd man up. So good on Chicago. I just didn't know if that nerd was gonna do it, Kyle Davidson, to be honest. But I'm glad he uh seemed like a no-brainer for them. He uh pulled the trigger.

And now you've got all these kids that are gonna be going to the game with their dad, or their dad's gonna be more excited than them, but the kids are gonna be so excited to see this player that their dad has always talked about. Um that's one of the coolest parts, you know. Some of these kids are just gonna get to see this guy back in a Blackhawse. Um now, obviously he's not going there for a cup, but maybe turn the ship around for him. You know, they're not they shouldn't be too far away.

It was funny too when he was talking about how we got a call from the Hawks on July 1 about the possible potential of getting back with the team, a little bit of a relink, if you will. He just bypassed the GM. He was like, Yeah, I talked to Danny Wirtz, uh, the owner. I didn't he didn't say a single word about their reunion and Kyle Davidson. It was all on Wirtz. Rocky Wirtz, obviously, was the owner. Uh, he passed away. Now his son Danny Wirtz runs a team. But I thought I thought that was funny. Like, I don't talk to GMs, I talk to owners.

LeBron James switching uniforms, veteran minimum, Philadelphia. He's making it a sideshow. Obviously, he's got to live in New York, and then he'll be choppering into Philadelphia 41 times a year, as well as practice. I don't know. Maybe he'll stay at the penthouse at the fourth season some nights in Philly if they have a back-to-back or whatever, but he's gonna live in Manhattan, he's gonna chopper in. Does Kobe not come to mind?

Is that just an easy commute? Like uh, it's it I know it's close, it's it's somewhat close. So he just hops in the chopper at the facility and flies home, takes 20-30 minutes or what?

Yeah, I think it's 40. It was 40 to 45 minutes one way. Um, the most expensive chopper with everything in, I think it was about five grand one way, so 10 grand a day. And yeah, just just load up the chopper. Like I judge it based off how these guys play and how I see them interact with guys and their teammates on the ice and what they do, so which is a big part of it, but obviously there's that off-ice feature, Jordo, that plays just almost as big of a role um when you're choosing like the the leaders on the team and who wears letters. So I don't know that part really at all. I just guessed from watching them play, I think we'll definitely have uh a sophomore letter an A. I there might even be because there's not a clear-cut captain on this team from what I can tell. And and some years there are. Um, there might even be, you know, uh a sophomore who wears the C. Now I don't know if that's ever been done, but I've heard, you know, there there are some of these sophomore kids like Cole Reshne and even this this Ollie Josephson kid plays with heart. You can tell the boys love him when he's on the ice. These guys are are already leaders on the team. Um, and if you don't have a clear-cut captain, then maybe you look to a sophomore. And you know, Reshne's an unbelievable player. He plays the right way, he plays hard, and so does Ollie Josephson. Um, now he's kind of he was a little bit in and other lineup, he's mostly in the lineup last year, so I assume he's got a locked-in spot in the lineup this year. But and then you got like guys like Cody Kroll, Max Swanson, EJ Emery, and then like you said, Verhoff. Yeah seems like it seems like a good option. I don't know how his character, his personality much in the room. He's really young, but at some time at some point, age doesn't really matter, you know. It it kind of does a little bit at the start, but then once you get rolling, it's just a number, yeah.

On here, Nikki ends up having to go to Barcelona because one of Abby's friends is getting married over there and she's got to make it all about herself and go overseas for a wedding, even though she's from Madison, Wisconsin. So they end up going over there for 10 days, and you know, I'm like, well, fuck, like I it's an awkward time for me. Bess's wedding is on the 17th of July, and I got to be in Mini on the 22nd. So if I'm in Wisconsin and I rip to Mini for Bess's wedding on a Friday, then I gotta go home and then go back to Mini and then back. I'm like, it's just and I didn't want to stay there for you know nine or ten days. Like, I'm not gonna hang out at Mystic Lake. So I'm like, Bess, you know, I don't know if I'm gonna make he's like, what do you mean? Like, can't you just decide? I'm like, I'm on the fence. And this was like two weeks before he goes, Do you think you're ever gonna get back? You think, do you think you're ever get off the fence? And I just texted him back, fence. And so we get to the 17th, right? You guys are at the wedding. I still hadn't said anything. I probably should have said, brother, I'm not coming, but I think he just realized that you know, I swishies out. So I texted him because I was pinned in Chicago at the time. I slid down to go see Kylie for a night, and it's on the 17th, and it's like 12:30 central. Like you guys are in one at this point. And I texted him, I go, I don't think I'm gonna make it. He goes, he goes, You're funny. I go, I know.
