Weedie Braimah
Widely regarded as the premiere voice of the Djembe, Weedie Braimah is a world-renowned drummer and cultural authority with roots in Ghana, East St. Louis, and New Orleans. He began his professional career and lifelong study of West African folklore and music of the African diaspora at age two. The GRAMMY®-nominated Djembefola is noted for his skill at adapting to an array of styles and currently records and tours with Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah, Baaba Maal, Trombone Shorty, and Bokanté. Braimah also leads his band, Weedie Braimah & The Hands of Time, which elevates percussion to create a compelling Stretch Music sound.
