What are you building that will still matter when you're gone?
In this heartfelt and thought-provoking episode of Unplugged with Pam | Breakfast Club Edition, Pamela Pacheco challenges listeners to think beyond short-term success and focus on something far greater: legacy.
As Quarter 2 begins, many people are focused on goals, growth, income, and achievement. But what if the true measure of success isn't what you accumulate—it's what you leave behind?
Drawing from personal experiences, lessons in entrepreneurship, and reflections on the life and legacy of her late mother, Pamela explores the difference between building for today and building for generations to come.
This episode is a powerful reminder that legacy isn't something you leave when you're gone—it's something you create every day through your choices, relationships, values, and impact.
In This Episode:
✨ Why Quarter 2 requires construction, not just clarity

Pamela shares personal reflections on her mother's life, the lessons she continues to carry forward, and why honoring those who came before us means continuing the work they started.

Key Takeaway:
Success is what you achieve. Legacy is what remains.

Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome, beautiful people. Welcome back to another episode of Unplugs with Pam Breakfast Club Edition, where we don't just talk about growth, we walk in it. This is not a call, this is a room, and this is the room you need to be in before the rooms that you want to be in. Now, last week we spoke about audacity, alignment, and awareness. But this week we're talking about what all of that produces. And if you guys know anything, I gave a little bit of a hint today when I posted about the call and yesterday. Because if what you and I are building does not outlive us, then what are we really doing? We're gonna talk about legacy, and I want to acknowledge each and every single person that is here. Thank you for tuning in. I know I see drop it in the comment thread. Let me see where you are joining in from. I see people from all over the world. Welcome, Tampa Bay, New York City, Philly, Jersey. Welcome, Chicago. Welcome, welcome, welcome, beautiful people. Welcome, DC. So, quarter one definitely did not come to play. It stretched each and every single one of us, it exposed things, and more than anything, it forced us to see what was not working. And that I believe it wasn't failure. I don't think in life you ever lose as long as you're learning. I believe more than anything that it was preparation. And if quarter one did anything, it gave you clarity. And quarter two requires construction. And before we go any further, today is April 9th. It marks five years since my mom ascended to heaven. And if I'm being honest, not a day goes by that I do not carry her with me. I remember her watching through, I remember watching her push through one of the most things that people would quit in. And that was so many different seasons of her life. And when she was battling cancer, I really didn't think that anything was going to change. I thought that that was going to be another thing that she beat. And it seemed as though that was the case until God decided that He was going to heal her in heaven. And her strength, her sacrifice, her resilience, it was something that I didn't realize it then. But she was not just the person that raised my siblings and I. She was the person that built us. And she was building something in me at the same time that would outlive her. And as heavy as this day is, uh, shout out to my close friends. Uh, thank you for the messages. Thank you for all of the love, all of the prayers. Um, a shout out to two of my best friends that were literally on the phone with me last night as I was boohoo crying. Uh, not only preparing for today, but more than anything, it is, you know, March 22nd was her heavenly birthday, and we did our third annual Woman Women Wars in honor of International Women's Month and her heavenly birthday. But today's a heavy day, if I'm being honest. Uh, one of the things that just got me up is because I get to do this with you guys. This is not something that I take for granted, and I know that if I still have a pulse, I have a purpose. And when I tell you to know Benny, la doctora, the doctor, bienvenida reyes arachin. Yes, we call her doctor because she was a lawyer, she was a political revolutionary, she was just a force. In fact, the current president in the Dominican Republic, right now, Luis Abinader, is there because of the work that she did, the campaigns that she ran from New York City to Miami to the Dominican Republic and all over. She was someone that dealt with youth movements and revolutions from the Dominican Republic to New York City to South Florida. She was a force, she was a deacon in her church, she was in Daughters of the Kings Ministry and in Prayer Ministry and in Kids Ministry and served on the Vestry Board. Balin told me on the vestry board when I was in my early 20s. You know, Balin told me and my brother into kids' ministry when we were young, but it's things that we would never take back because that in fact was a part of her legacy. And if I'm as I not only honor her today, it is not a day that goes by that I don't carry her with me. And I remember, you know, watching her just not only push through in this battle, but also continuously just give God all of the praise and worship and not give up and still be faithful. And all of these things, you know, when we talk about legacy, when we talk about building something that will outlive her, and what I've learned in these last five years specifically is that legacy is real because she may not be here physically, but what she built in me, what she built in my sister, what she built in my brother, what she built in the communities that she served, it still lives, it still leads, and it still shows up in every single room that I walk in, that my siblings walk into. And recently, uh, you guys know I've spoken about the uh Radiant Leadership Institute. I have been in this leadership course through my church, shout out to Radiant Church since last September, and we are reading books upon books. And one of my favorites is John Maxwell. We recently read, I had one of my last papers due on the 21 irrefutable laws of leadership. And one of the things that he spoke about in this book that just resonated with me, and really between that and today being the five-year anniversary of ascension to heaven for my mom, it was the law of legacy. And one of the things that he said is that a leader's lasting value is legacy, because that value is measured really and truly by what continues after them. And that hit me for so many reasons because legacy isn't what you necessarily leave materialistic when you're gone, it's truly what continues through the people while you're here, and it also is what continues with the people that you leave in them, the people that they become because of you, the things that you've inspired. And when I think of you know, today's call, and I was talking about legacy over likes. Why truly and anything, it's making sure that we build what outlives you, and really why does legacy pay? And I think of the core statement of it's legacy over likes, everybody's chasing attention, likes visibility. But me, I'm choosing legacy always over everything. Legacy isn't uncomfortable. I'ma tell y'all right now, it wasn't even unit was not comfortable me waking up today to come here, it was not comfortable me going to sleep. It is not comfortable, right, doing all of the things. But one thing is for certain that I know that I am here to empower this generation. I'm here to empower the next generation, to inspire somebody, to let somebody know that it doesn't matter what you go through, there is still purpose behind your pain to let you know that you could do all things in He who strengthened you, to let you know that with God there's nothing that is impossible. More than anything, is that we are truly living for legacy because the impact that you have in people's lives and the transformation that takes place because you decided to triumph through the trials, to the through the tribulations, through the things that you thought were going to destroy you. You might have had to put a little bit of extra makeup on, you know, to cover, but it does not take away that if it does not outlive you, it really doesn't matter. So when I and again, it's just me being very, very transparent with you guys. There was a season in my life, especially in my 20s, where everything I built was dependent on me. If I didn't show up, nothing moved, if I didn't post, nothing grew. If I didn't work, there was no income. And from the outside looking in, it looked like success. I was living on a nice condo on the beach, I was driving my car, my dream car at the time. It I looked amazing from the outside looking in because I was smiling and grooving and I was making money, and wow, it was incredible. But if I'm being real with y'all today, like I am every single time y'all hear me speak, it was exhausting. I was egg exhausted because I didn't realize that I really wasn't building a legacy, I was building an income, yes, out the bank. I was making a boatload of money to mind my words today, but really and truly, I was building pressure. And if you're taking notes, because note takers are history makers, and if you are joining us for the first time, welcome. If you're joining us once again, welcome home. Y'all know I always say that when I embarked upon entrepreneurship, I was looking forward to these types of interactions, whether there was mentorships, whether it was calls, whether it was podcasts in the morning, because how you start your day is the tone for your day. So kudos to each and every single one of you guys that decided to start your morning off with some fire this morning. So, as we're taking notes, because note takers are moneymakers and history makers, we're gonna talk really, really quick about five, just five, cinco, five benefits of building a legacy. Legacy creates multiplication, number one, because when we talk about money, money is an energy, money is currency, money is a frequency. Yes, all of those things are correct. However, legacy multiplies, and when you truly build legacy, your impact continues without your constant presence. Legacy is where your effort turns into multiplication. You know, it's interesting because so many people that came and there was a lot of press behind our women's event, and so many people are like, Oh my goodness, that was so amazing! And you guys are just wow, I can I can see where you get it from when we post the videos. When you see me posting the videos of my mom just and I dancing or having fun or joking around, or you if you ever heard her speak, and now you know my aunt the other day, she heard me speak and she was like, Wow, you are literally a continuation of your mother. It is so beautiful to just witness that. And the reality is that I am who I am, yes, because of God, but because of her, her legacy created multiplication within us. The kindness, when you see my brother, right? A lot of people are like, Oh my goodness, he's the joy that he brings. Like, we are all have been a continuation of her. My goddaughter, my niece Abrianna, she just uh sang this can you gotta see ya song with her guitar, and it's so interesting because my mom was learning to play the guitar right before she transitioned to heaven, and all of these things you see it in her grandchildren, you see it in her nieces, in her nephews. It's little things of her legacy that was multiplied. And in fact, when you still go to certain places, you feel her presence, her ministry that she started in different organizations still continues. The work that she started, it still continues, it still has been multiplied. So when you ask yourself, Yes, is the effort that you are doing, is it building a legacy? Because legacy is where effort turns into multiplication. Number two, legacy is what really builds real authority. So as y'all write that down, let me take a sip of my cafe zito. This was one of my mama's favorite months, by the way. Fun fact you didn't ask for legacy builds real authority, and why do I say that? Because a lot of times you can go viral and still be forgotten, but when you build legacy, you become unforgettable when we talk about big energy. When a lot of people are like, you know, Pam, you have this big energy. I am a continuation of Benny a thousand percent. Because when my mother walked into a room, you felt her presence. It wasn't because she was loud, it wasn't because no, no, it's just the smile, the energy, the frequency, the vibes from head to toe. You felt it. It wasn't because only you know she was dressed how she wanted to be addressed, and she would have the most prettiest earrings like I have on right now. These are hers. It wasn't only because of that, but when we talk about becoming unforgettable, it's how you also make people feel. It's also when you talk about visibility gets you seen, but legacy gets you remembered. So many of my friends, one of my uh close sister friends was here not so long ago. Shout out to Hadiatu, and we always talk about the time we took our moms to Mexico, and we had an absolute blast where you know my mom she left us and she was going, she went right to the Zumba class, and she was outside, and then we see her having fun, and we're like, we want to go too. We we we wanna she no matter where it was that she was, she was going to bring the vibe, she was going to bring the party. Uh, a bunch of my friends the other day, one of them uh shout out to Sergio, he sent me a video of him and my mom dancing at an all-white party. We had a huge team retreat, we took everybody to Punta Cana and the Dominican Republic, and out of all the places in the world, I invited my mom to go to. I invited her to go to Paris, Morocco. She picked a lot, a bunch of the states because she wanted to go to Vegas. So I took her to Vegas a bunch of times, uh, all over the states because she was in some personal development with me, she was building business with me, she was building residual income for residual freedom with me, and we did all of the things together. But it was interesting because out of all the places outside of the country, she really wanted to go to Punta Cana, to Dominican Republic. And I remember this trip like it was yesterday because we had the best time. And oddly enough, oddly enough, you know, we're having a great time by the pool, and we are having she was the life of the party, like she always is. If you know, you know. And it was funny because I went to the bar to go grab a drink, and I come back and I see everybody like, oh, you know, everybody is like crowding, and I'm like, who's in the middle of the dance for? Like, who's dancing? And it was my mom dancing with one of my business partners and friends, a Sergio Mesa. And I was cracking up, and I was like, You see me in the video, like, really, this is what we do right now, okay? Go ahead, live your best life. But when we talk about legacy gets you remembered, it's true, it is so incredible. Like, how are you being remembered? Because if you are not the person that is actually thinking of those things, I'm telling you that you are thinking small and you need to think bigger. Here's another one legacy creates freedom. And before I actually even speak about that, let me go back up a little bit. Legacy gets you remembered. If you're new here, you probably haven't seen this post, but I always talk about my uncle, who was my mom's youngest brother, uh, my teo biembo, who to this day, you know, he is still being honored in the Dominican Republic. He was one of the best generals that ever served the country. He was um a baracaidista, and uh, which basically means he used to jump off of airplanes, he was airborne, he was a person that led sports in military, he served all over the world from China to you know um South America, no, like all over from the Dominican Republic, they would set him. And today there is still a baseball park in his honor in the Capitol in the Dominican Republic, in the Air Force base over there. And it's so beautiful because when we talk about Legacy Gets You Remembered, even a lot of the guards, it's interesting because my in my grandma's house, y'all hear me post all the y'all see me post all the time in my grandmother's house. My grandmother, you know, has guards that come overnight to watch the house. And every time one of them comes, it's like, you know, some of them are very young and they're like in their early 20s, and they're like, Man, I never got to meet him, but there's so many people that still talk about him. You know, we were in the academy, and he was one of the biggest leaders in the academy, and he was also an attorney and all these things, and he was like, and he was just a force, and so many generals, so many people still reference him to this day. So when I talk about legacy, man, we are standing on some very broad shoulders. When I talk about the legacy, the impact, it is incredible. And when we say legacy creates freedom, because it not only creates freedom because of residual income. Yes, y'all know I'm a huge advocate for building generational wealth, and the good word it tells us you leave an inheritance for your children's children. But here's also the freedom that it creates freedom of being who you are, because you know who you are, freedom of authenticity, freedom of being bold, freedom of being courageous, freedom of being your best and blessed self, freedom, if in any shape, way, or form, whatever freedom means to you, freedom of choices, freedom of speech, the freedoms that we get to live because of the legacy. I was born in the Dominican Republic. Fun fact for the day, you didn't ask for, and we moved to New York City when I was about two years old, moved from New York, then to sunny South Florida. So I'm a Florida girl, even though I know y'all always tell me y'all hear the accent. I am a Florida girl, I love it. However, you can't ever take a lot of the things that we've experienced, and I experienced my mom hustle in New York City, hustle from opening my uncle's um Uncle Mon's bodega in the morning to then going to Theo Casimino's law firm in Manhattan to coming back to get us ready, um, pick us up from school to then cook to then close the bodega, then do it all over again, and then on the weekends, Friday and Saturday, work in my Tia Cindy salon. When I tell you this woman was getting it, she was getting it by any way, means, shapes, or form. And when I talk about when you're building a legacy, it only works when you work. If that's the case, then that's not a legacy, that is a job. That is a job, and when I talk about shifting my focus, when I shifted my focus from not just making money, but to building systems in place, people and structure, everything changed because now I'm not just working, I am building things that continue without me, without me even being having to be in necessarily every single detail. So when I realized that legacy isn't just spiritual, isn't just emotional, isn't just mental. However, it's also strategic. So what you're building right now, can it work without you? Because if not, then you need to talk to your girl because we need to get some better systems in place, and that is just you need strategy. When we talk about building something that is going to outlive you, if it only grows when you are present, the business owns you. You need better strategy, you need better systems in place because when we talk about processes, when we talk about performance, you have to build without the chaos. And having the right systems in place, it's what's going to allow you to maximize on performance, to maximize on profits, to maximize on all of the things without the chaos. So here's another thing legacy builds people. Somebody asked me to go back. I got y'all. Legacy builds people because when we realize that success is not only about you, it's not about you. See, I could have easily been like, hey, you know what? I'm not doing the live edition today of our of our Unplugged with Pam. It's okay. Y'all will get it. There's plenty of content in me. Like y'all, y'all will be good today. But I knew that that was not, that's that's not what she would have wanted me to do, right? She was a servant leader. She was going to serve no matter what. Tonight, I have my woman's business and professional leaders group that meets in West Chase bi-weekly. It just so happened, today is the week that we meet. I could easily send a message to the ladies and be like, hey girls, I'm not emotionally, mentally there today, so we're not gonna meet. But no, I confirmed with everybody. I said, hey, we're meeting today. Just to let you know, you might not see me be my full self today. So I might need y'all to pour into me a little bit today, but I can't wait to gather with you. Because here's what I do know the God that I serve is a God of abundance, but he rewards obedience with blessings. And when you realize that your voice is what is helping transform the next generation, the current generation, that it is about building up people, you realize success, yes, it may necessarily be about you, however, legacy is about what rises because of you. So when you are focusing and you are doing all of the things, I ask you, who are you developing? Who are you developing? Who is better because you showed up? Your greatest return will always be people. I love so much. There's been so many people that I've mentored over the years, and I love seeing them shine. I love seeing them shine. And I'm talking about from traditional business owners to non-traditional business owners. I in the even in the network marketing space, in the traditional business space, one of my great sister friends, Grace. I absolutely love Grace. Grace is one of my girls. If you were on our trip to the Dominican Republic for our birthday, you met Grace and her beautiful, one of her beautiful daughters, Sammy. She is killing it right now in Primarica. A lot of people are like, well, Pam, you build network marketing and travel and in and travel and lifestyle, and you also utilize that for your B2B to help, yes. But why would I care that she is not doing the same exact thing as me? Because at the end of the day, it's about abundance. But there's not one time that she gets a reward or gets a prize and doesn't send me a message or a picture and is like, I always gotta talk about you. I always gotta talk about how you forever changed my life, how you forever allowed me to tap into my power, how you forever showed me what residual income was, how you showed me what it looks like to live for legacy, how you showed up for people, how you poured endlessly into others, and I gotta build teams with the same passion, with the same authenticity, with the same love. So when we talk about your legacy, is to build other people. I have so many different friends um that are in this industry that we are not in the same company. Y'all just met one of my great sister friends, Hadiatsu, and people are like, Oh my goodness, that's so easy. Yes, because there is there's no competition. When you know that your gifts make room for you, and you know that iron truly does sharpen iron, you realize that there's you serve a God of abundance, not scarcity. And when it's no fun if your friends can't get none, when you have a mindset that you're like, this is about us forward, us building up the next generation, but really doing it together, having fun together, supporting each other, building one another, everything that you guys see would not be able to happen without the amazing team that I have that's working with me. Shout out, and y'all hear me shout out our team all the time, from our graphics and marketing team to our events production to the people that are doing the processes from the marketing, all of these things. And granted, do I have a place to play, a play, a part to play in a lot of these things? Yes, but is it only about me? Absolutely not. Again, your greatest return will always be the people that you serve, the people that you love on, the people that you impact, the people whose lives you transform. There's so many people that still to this day send me messages about my mom. I miss her so much. We miss her at the church, we miss her in kids, we miss her on the board, we miss her here. And it's not, they don't cry because they're crying tears of sorrow. It's a combination of tears of joy because when somebody has such a big impact and lives such a high impact and high value life, their presence is missed, their joy that lights up every room is missed, and that's okay to know because she had such a lasting impact in people's lives. And this brings me to point number five legacy outlives every single thing. Your legacy outlives every single every single thing. Yes, it's a little personal for me because my mom, yes, is not here physically, but what she built, untouchable, sacred, unshakable, it's still producing. Why do I say this? Because what you build in purpose outlives circumstances each and every single time. Your legacy will outlive you every single time. So, why do I show up when my heart may be still in shambles? Why do I show up when I am dealing with stuff? Because it's not about me, but it's always what he is doing through me for other people. So now the question becomes to each and every single one of you watching this, listening to this, whether you are on your way to work, whether you are on your way to your business, whether you are just kicking in at home with your kids, the question becomes this are you building something that depends on you, or something that will continue because of you. Something that will continue because of you. My team knows this. When I'm no longer here, the core signature events will continue. The frameworks that I teach of building the brand, then the business will continue. The core principles of service, of impact, of transformation, of doing things in joy, it will continue to live without me being physically here, because these are things that are to forward and impact and transform the generations to come. When we talk about doing things in excellence, that has to continue, and I'm no longer here. That has to, because my mother did it to a certain level, my uncle did it to a certain level, my grandfather that was also in the military, both of them did it to a certain level. Mateo Jr. did excellence to a certain level, service to a certain level. However, when we talk about the transition of power, as we see all the time in office and in the economy and all of these things, it has to be also a transition of power when legacy. So when a lot of times I don't understand, you know, why God decided to heal her in heaven, and maybe I won't understand that until I get there. But I do know one thing is for certain the legacy is supposed to outlive you, and it's supposed to get better after you are no longer here because it is about you transforming the next generation. So again, are you building something that depends on you or something that will continue because of you? And you know, I always am like, real talk, right? Some of you are exhausted right now, and it's okay, and I get it. I have clients that are dealing with the same thing of exhaustion, and sometimes it's not even physical exhaustion, it's mental exhaustion, it's mental. Why? Because everything you build depends on you, every single thing, it depends on you. So I'm sorry to tell you, that's not legacy, that is pressure because you've outgrown the version of success that you're currently on. So when I look at legacy and I think of legacy, it's also strategy behind it. My mom didn't leave me followers, she left me a mindset, a standard, a way of showing up excellent, excellently, authentically, boldly, courageously, no matter the trials, no matter the tribulations, no matter my imperfections, because why may be tea for you? Honey is a testimony for me. So when I talk about she wasn't just living, I now understand she was building a legacy all along. So now I am too, and I want the same for each and every single one of you because your voice, your power, your joy, the essence of your excellence, it deserves to live on when you're no longer here each and every single time. So if you're ready to build things, I need some more cafecito clearly. If you are ready to build things that do not drain you and start building something that multiplies, book a call. DM me legacy comments legacy, start building something that multiplies because you deserve it, your kids deserve it, the generations to come deserve it. You do not have the same fingerprints as anybody else. I just had to uh give a seven-minute sermon, and as I close this out, I'm not gonna give y'all the sermon. So, okay, it's okay. I had to give a seven-minute sermon this week for our Radiant Leadership Institute, and I was talking about comparison, relative deprivation, how you can be having the most perfect time, having the most perfect moment, living your absolute best life, and then you go on social media, and all of a sudden you're like, dang, you see somebody else winning at another level or living their best life, and you have no idea what trials, what revelations they had to go through, or even if it's just a real thing or AI, but somehow, some way you automatically don't feel like you're doing good enough. You automatically are just ugh, you're down, you are just beating yourself up. Nothing changed about your situation, not the circumstances, not the ambiance, not the environment, not the people around you. Nothing absolutely changed except the comparison, because comparison is a thief of all joy. But how do we break that? We break it by being grateful, by being grateful, by having an attitude of gratitude, we break it by knowing that our steps have been established, that when we examine our own actions, we have no room for comparison because we know that we're one of one. But when we know our identity, when we know our identity, because who God made us to be fearfully and wonderfully made, when you know that you are chosen, when you know that you are not random. Why I said this because your fingerprints are one of one, because you are one of one. So when you know these things and you're grateful and you're getting, but here's the third one that I said you got to be around the right people. Commitment always lasts longer in the context of the right community. So when we talk about how do you don't rob yourself of who you are, of the beauty of your essence, of the excellence of who you are, because of who you are, it's those three things, but it's also doing taking the right first step. So when I'm inviting you to do book a strategy call, trust me, I'm not pressed whether you do it or not, because at the end of the day, I have a waiting list and I charge $700 an hour and I'm doing this complimentary. I always open up my calendar. Why? Because if I can just whether you can afford the coaching after or not, but if I can give you so much value for that little bit of time, I know my job is done. If I can shift your mindset in the hour, if I can help you implement processes, strategy, there's been so many people that have came to our creators conference, that have came to our goal setting, mastermind mimosas, that have come to our women's event, to our mental health matters, which by the way is coming up May 30th. Make sure pre-sale tickets are on site, on sale, but that have come to this event and they're like, man, everything changed because of this. I met someone because of this. I did something different in my life, different in my business because I heard you say something. That's what it's about. Because you are not just here to build something successful, you are here to build something that survives you, that outlives you. And with that, breakfast has been served. Much love to you guys, peace and blessings.
