What happens when the person you ghosted becomes your boss? This episode dives into a real listener letter about a former best friend who now controls the schedule, the hours, and the workplace vibe—and it’s tense. From awkward silence to reduced shifts and passive retaliation, Big Slick breaks down how unresolved personal drama can turn into a full-blown career problem.

We unpack the real issue behind ghosting a close friend and why avoiding closure comes back harder when power dynamics change. Whether it’s favoritism, cold treatment, or quiet punishment at work, this conversation lays out your real options: quit and protect your peace, transfer if possible, or confront the situation with honesty and professionalism. We explain why pretending nothing happened rarely works—and how a short, direct conversation can sometimes reset the working relationship.

You’ll also get practical advice on protecting yourself at work: documenting schedules, tracking feedback, maintaining professionalism, and knowing when retaliation crosses the line. If staying isn’t worth the stress, we cover how to exit clean, protect your reputation, and rebuild your network without burning bridges.

This episode is about accountability, boundaries, and understanding that your personal brand follows you—especially in tight industries where everyone knows everyone. If you’ve ever mixed friendship and work and lived to regret it, this one’s for you.

SPEAKER_00:

You, you, and you. Yeah, you too. Now, let's talk about it. What up, what up, what up, what up? Welcome to Talk Your Shit. And I'm your host, Big Slick, and we got another great episode for you today. But first, I want to give a shout-out to my listeners. Whether you at home, at work, in your car, all the truck drivers on the road, I appreciate you tuning in. Check it out. We got another great show. I got another letter that I got in. I'm gonna read it and give you my honest, uncut, unfiltered, raw opinion. Because that's what the fuck I do, man. Listen, we're gonna jump right into it. I ghosted my boss, I ghosted my best friend. Now they're my manager. What should I do? This is gonna be a good one. So you ghosted, you ghosted your best friend. First of all, why did you ghost your best friend anyway? That sounds a little shaky. What's going on there? If it's your best friend and you ghosted them, some shit went on between y'all, right? So I don't know what popped off between y'all, but you ghosted them. But now the dude is your manager, so check it out. I'm gonna tell you just like this you're gonna have to quit, bro. You might as well just quit right now and get it over with because your friend about to drag you, unless you come up with some crazy ass lie, like yo, my phone got lost, my number got switched, you know, I relocated, I moved. You're gonna have to come up with a lot of bullshit. Because once your best friend, well once was your best friend, see yo ass, and they're your manager now. Come on, bro, come on, bro. You know, if you was full-time, you're about to get part-time hours right now, or you're about to get drugged, you're about to get the worst shift, graveyard shifts, all types of shit. He's gonna have you working every holiday, it's gonna be crazy, man. Or you ain't gonna get no hours, you're gonna look at the schedule, and you you might be working every other week now. This nigga might have you coming in for an hour and a half every day as some craziness. Yo, you get to work at seven, you your schedule's from seven to eight: thirty every morning, bruh. It's about to be ugly for you, bro. I don't know what to tell you. Yeah, I do know what to tell you. Quit, you need to quit, man, or transfer, or don't be right in that same department. Because it was your it's not your best friend no more. And by now, Duke probably already knows you ghosted him. So come on, man. But what's what's really going on here? Something had to something had to transpire between y'all to why you ghosted him. But if that's your manager now, you you it's only two things you can do. Either you're gonna quit, you're gonna lie about why you ghosted them, or you just gonna stay there and get drugged. That's it. It ain't it ain't too many more options for you right now because that's what's gonna happen. So it's up to you how you wanna how you want to move forward, you know. I'm saying, because you are about to get drugged, that's what's about to happen, you know. I mean, so if I was you, I would just find another job and keep it moving or come up with a bullshit ass story. That's the only that's the only thing that's gonna work for you right now. Because if you don't, it's a wrap. You getting drugged, he's gonna work you like a slave, bro, for pennies. It's gonna happen. You already know what it is. This this was an in and out right here. This was an easy one. You already know what it is. It's big slick, and this has been another great episode of talk your shit.
