When The Boss Turns Toxic
SPEAKER_00What up, what up, what up, what up, what up? I'm your boy Big Slick, and welcome to Talk Your Shit Daily. We got another great episode for you today, but first I want to give a shout out to all my listeners. Whether you at work, at home, in your car, all the truck drivers on the road, I appreciate you tuning in. And if you didn't subscribe yet, hit the button, man. Look, we got another great show for you today. I'm about to jump right into it. I'm gonna give you a couple of signs to let you know if you're at a toxic workplace environment. You know what I'm saying? I got two, I got two parts to this. The first part is talking about the employees, the second half is gonna be talking about the boss. Let's jump right into it. If you get on a job and you got an employee, this is the toxic employees. If you got an employee that comes and start talking to you about everything else that's not job related, like being extra nosy, be careful. They're not really concerned about what you do outside of work. They just want to get information on you so they can run and go tell everybody else at the job and go tell the boss. They just trying to get some type of dirt on you. So watch out for these people because they appear to be friendly. You know, it might be the nice old lady or the older guy or whoever, or it could be somebody young. It don't make a difference because toxic people is no age restrictions on it, they come in all shapes, sizes, and everything. So be careful that person that you might think is friendly might not be that friendly. They just trying to get some dirt on you, right? That's one. Another thing is if you got a person that you see complaining all the time about other people at work, you're in a toxic work environment. They complaining about this person taking too long to go on break. You know, what time they went on break at 12? They only get 30 minutes. It's 12:40. Why are you concerned? And this person is not a manager, a supervisor, or nothing. It's not like the person that went on break is coming back to relieve them so they can go. They ain't even in the same department, right? So this type of person is a toxic person on the job. You have to watch out for them, right? And again, this person appears to be friendly, so it may take you a minute to really find out who that toxic person is. So, what you need to do is keep every conversation work related and don't get involved with negative conversations talking about other people at the job or the bosses, right? Because what can happen then is this. So that toxic employee will come to you. Let's say start talking about the boss. Oh, this boss don't do this. Oh, you'll find out, oh, do you like the boss? And do you do this? And what the person is trying to do to get you to agree on it, they really they actually baiting you for you to agree on it, and then you know what's gonna happen, right? They're gonna go back and tell the boss, hey, you know, the new person over here, or they was talking about you. Yeah, they said they don't like you. I don't know what's wrong with them because I love you. Look, you gotta watch out for people like this on the job. So stay away from all types of negative conversations. I'm telling you how to identify a toxic workplace environment and the toxic employees that come with it, right? Another thing they'll do, debate you, right? They'd be like, oh, well, it's a holiday coming up, but you might have to work. Or this holiday is not a paid holiday for this particular job that you're at. You know, everybody don't get every holiday off. So, you know, so it might be a holiday coming up, and they're gonna, oh, you're gonna take off and you're gonna take off. So this person will go around and try to find out who's gonna call out on that day. So they abate you and I don't know if I'm gonna show up because I want to spend, I want to do this, so I got plans for this day, right? So they want to see who's gonna go. I ain't coming to work. So a couple of people fall into this trap. I don't care. I don't care. I'm on a schedule, I'm calling out, I'm calling out, I don't care. This toxic employee is going straight back to the boss and gonna give them a list of everybody that said they call it out. Oh, this person said you know, they said they was calling out over there in that department, they said they was gonna call out over there in that department. You know, I'm just letting you know. Now what happens, right? Y'all have a meeting. This is right before the holiday comes where everybody, well, a couple of people said they was calling out. The boss will come with some paperwork going over the call out policy in the schedule and get you to sign off on it. And you looking like, where the hell this shit came from? It's because that toxic person went back and told the boss. So that's another thing that you got to do is stay away from these conversations with this toxic person, don't tell them nothing. You know what I'm saying? Basically, when you're on a job, keep everything work-related and go home. That's it. You don't need to do nothing else but do your job and go home, right? But if you're in a toxic work environment, you can get pulled into this stuff even when you are just doing your job and going home, you get pulled into some. That's why it's always good to be in a good work environment, and it just is what it is to give you a peace of mind, you know what I'm saying? So let's move on to the boss when you know you're in a toxic work environment. So if you got a boss like this, so let's say I'm gonna give you an example. So let's say it's a call out, right? And the boss comes to you and go, Hey, such and such called out today. So can you help? You know, I'm gonna need you to do your job, but can you help, you know, do this job as well? Because this person is not here today. You like, cool, which is which is normal. That's normal, you know. Somebody out, y'all shorthanded, you might have to do some extra work. It's cool. So you do it. So now the boss sees you can do it. So now what happens is that this job becomes your normal job. So now you're actually doing two jobs and you're not being compensated for it. This is considered a toxic work environment. Now you're getting used, you're getting pimp, and you getting, you know, you're doing two jobs and only getting paid for one, right? That's another thing. Another thing is when the boss is not concerned about nothing else but you producing. I mean, no feelings, you know, death in a family, or you know, your kid is sick. Well, only that only it's a red flag anytime you're not at work. They don't care why you ain't there or what happened, no compassion whatsoever for the staff. This is a toxic work environment, right? To where you're only a production piece. Anything outside of that is no concern to the boss. That's when you know you're in one of these environments, and you got to stay clear of all of that. So if you if these are any indications at where you're working at right now, leave immediately, find you another job, and get out that toxic work environment. Because what happens is you're gonna end up bringing that home and you're gonna be frustrated every day. It's not even worth it, man. It's not, it's not worth your worth your time. So remove yourself from that environment as quick as you can, because these toxic employees and these toxic bosses are not gonna change as long as you stay there, you're gonna be in a toxic environment. You already know what it is. This is big slick. It's been another great episode of talk your shit daily. Listen, if you got a topic you want me to discuss on the show, you can write in.
