幻想曲（Fantasia 或Fantasy）是一種形式自由的樂曲體裁，由於其不受特定結構的約束，提供了作曲家與演奏者創作及表現的機會，使他們能夠天馬行空、恣意地探索各式主題、技巧，與寄託情感，展現了音樂靈活的多樣性。本場音樂會以「幻想」為題，精選了古典時期尾聲的作曲家胡麥爾、浪漫時期的舒曼、福克斯，乃至二十世紀的鮑文、瓦克斯曼，他們以幻想曲的形式抒發情感，用優美溫潤的中提琴音配合飽滿豐富的鋼琴聲響，充分展現出兩種樂器的魅力與多變的表現力。同時本場演出特別委託台灣作曲家胡宇君創作一首為中提琴與鋼琴的幻想曲。
