Today we're talking about the femicide of 67-year-old Danielle from Saint Jerome, Quebec. On Friday, February 27, 2026, police arrived at a home for a wellness check and found Danielle dead at the scene. They also located a man at the property who was taken to the hospital under police custody. Authorities charged 50-year-old Patrick, who was Danielle's partner, with second-degree murder. The killing occurred while Patrick was serving a two-year probation order for a previous 2024 conviction involving domestic violence against Danielle, which included assault and uttering death threats. Danielle's brother Benoit remembered Danielle as a friendly, smiling person who deeply loved those around her. This marked the seventh confirmed femicide in Quebec since the beginning of 2026. Elected officials in Quebec spoke out about the issue of domestic violence in the wake of Danielle's death, expressing their condolences to her family and a need to do more to protect women in the area.
