Private credit gates are going up, oil is back above $100, GDP growth just got cut to 0.7%, and inflation is still running too hot for the Federal Reserve to ride to the rescue. That’s not a normal market setup — that’s a collision between liquidity stress, stagflation, and geopolitical shock.

In today’s Wall Street Truthbomb, we break down why private credit redemptions are accelerating, why software exposure may be getting buried in filings, and why the Fed’s next move could make this crisis even worse.

If you’re in yield products, private credit, or just trying to understand where markets go next, this is the one you need to watch.

Topics covered:
Private credit gating risk
Morgan Stanley, Blue Owl, BlackRock, Cliffwater stress signals
Oil above $100 and Middle East escalation

The Fed is officially trapped. And while you were watching the weekend headlines, the $3.5 trillion private credit gates slammed shut, just as oil crossed $100. The math says something has to break by Wednesday. We're witnessing a collision of three storms, a liquidity crunch in private credit, stagflationary GDP at seven tenths of a percent, and a new war in the Middle East. If you're holding so-called safe yield funds, well, you're now standing behind a prison wall. Before we dig in, if you like this type of content, please click like and consider subscribing. It's important to be in the know, and this is how you do it. Okay, let's start with the truth bomb the big firms are trying to hide under the rug. Last week I told you JP Morgan quietly marked down collateral and private credit, specifically software. Here's why. Seven major firms have been caught recategorizing over $9 billion in software investments. They're mislabeling them as retail or healthcare and their filings to hide the true exposure to AI disruption risk. They're planning to work these things out over time, but guess what? Time just ran out. As of this morning, Brent Crude is over 104 bucks because U.S. forces struck Karg Island and Iran has already started the retaliation. The timing actually could not be any worse. Friday's revised GDP printed at a pathetic seven-tenths of a percent growth, cutting the previous estimate in half, literally. Meanwhile, core inflation is stuck at 3.1%. Slow growth, rising prices, and oil shocks. That is stagflation. And the Federal Reserve meets this Tuesday with zero good options on the table. If they cut rates to save the seven-tenths of a percent economy, they set the inflation fire ablaze. If they hold steady, they watch these middle market companies suffocate under high interest rate costs that they can no longer afford to pay. The gates are now up at Morgan Stanley, Blue Owl, Black Rock, and Cliffwater. The patient capital narrative is dead because investors are officially impatient. For every dollar investors tried to withdraw from Morgan Stanley's North Haven fund last week, they got roughly only 45 cents back. This is the feedback loop I warned you about. Redemptions lead to forced sales, forced sales lead to lower pricing benchmarks, and lower marks lead to more redemptions. JP Morgan already got off the tracks. They're telling you the train wreck is coming. Your job is not to panic, though, it is to batten down the hatches and recognize that the greatest opportunities happen when the gates are closed for everyone else. So your truth bomb for today is this when private credit firms start mislabeling assets to hide AI risk and the Fed gets trapped between $100 oil and seven-tenths of a percent growth, the gates don't just protect the funds. They lock you in the room while it burns. Join me every day for Wall Street Truth Bombs, where I drop them right here before the market figures them out.
