They fell in love with the home while it was being built. And then I am looking at it like you fell in love with it in 1945. This house does not look new.

They fell in love with it. And he says, We looked at the home on Sunday. And then on Sunday night, we owned it. And I said, that's not how this works. Yeah, you can't just walk up with a briefcase. I know. That's what he said.

Hello, here are my monies. I will not have house. Yeah, he says we looked at this on Sunday, and Sunday we owned it. No, you didn't. But people think that. People think, oh, we bought it today.

Anyway. I'm not sure really what's going on in this house. But they have stuff everywhere. There's kids everywhere. There's kids everywhere. There were kids everywhere. I was like, how many do they have? They only have three, but it seemed like they had 30.

The stairs in this house are really, really high.

I was like, that would make me nervous for these little kids.

It kind of like had a view of it, and I was like, ooh, I don't really love that. But I don't know. For some people, that's not a huge issue. And next to laundry, they hate that it's in the basement. That's one of their absolute must-haves. Laundry has to be moved out of the basement. So no storage.

It kind of was like reminiscent of like the second or third episode that we watched, where like they walked through the house and it was literally like they took just like items that were like somewhere and just threw them on the floor. Yeah. And we're like, and it's like okay. This is just messy. People are just messy. Like a new house is gonna make you less messy. We lived in a very small house before and we it was clean.

So I was like, you guys just need to clean up your house. But I don't know. People everyone lives differently. Okay, so they also have storage, storage, storage. He wants to stay and she wants to go. I thought that was kind of unusual.

So now we're at the part where they're gonna talk about their little uh must-haves.

They're sitting at this like little table and they have white, like friends televised coffee mugs. So that was interesting. And they are now gonna go into what they need to find a new home. So four bedrooms, three baths, open concept, storage, fireplace, finished basement, same neighborhood, I said new season, same needs. A couple things that I thought were interesting in the fireplace. New like an electric fireplace. For that to be a need, but whatever.

No. Uh-uh. Or cleaner. Open concept is not gonna clean your house. Anyway, to list their house and stay where they are, they want to add a bedroom, create a third bath, add storage, finish their basement, and move their laundry upstairs.

This is a very important list of things that they want when you get to the end. Because remember, this is their need. Anyway. They're very much the same.

So they do have like a very specific like something that they want. But it's a pretty long list. I was kind of surprised by Hillary's reaction.

She wasn't just like, oh my god. Like, that's so many things. She was not crazy. She wasn't nervous at all about it, I felt. So now we are gonna walk through their house. Hillary and David walk in. They're surprised. Okay. I feel like that's usually the first impression, as they walk in, they're like, Alright, you know, I'm gonna say something good before I tear this apart. So the main living room is just a complete disaster, like you said. It's a mess. Like it is a mess.

No. No. Oh no. I mean, it's so terrible. It this reminded me, I will never forget this house ever. It was in Clintonville, and I showed this house to somebody. And from the pictures, we just could not figure out what the layout was.

We can't figure out where everything is.

We get there. And because Clintonville, you know, those homes are older, but they were built a long time ago. And many of them had one bathroom in them that was upstairs. They had nothing on the first floor. So we can go in this house. We're walking through. Kitchen, kitchen, kitchen. And then open a door from the kitchen. And it's a bathroom. And then there's another door on the other side. So you walk in. Bathroom. Close the door.

You walk out the other side. Second door. You have to go to the bathroom to the dining room.

So in theory, you should cook your food. Then you should take your food through the bathroom. Sit down into the dining room.

Yeah. Like it was just like I guess like probably the easiest thing when they were like, oh, what should we do? But they literally, it was just like a walk-through bathroom to the dining from the kitchen. It was so weird. So if the doors were just open, you were like walking through the bathroom to get.

It was weird. They were like, now we know why it didn't make sense. Because it doesn't make sense. Anyway, the closet is terrible. So much stuff. Just stuff, stuff, stuff. Now we see this is a big part important. The King Cod style attic. And it's livable space because when they bought their house, the builder said, You can finish this at some point. It's all livable. You just gotta finish it and you're good to go. Whatever you want. So like thank you, Miller, for all that true information that will obviously not be not real one day. Because we trust you. Because you are the builder. So who's gonna tell the buyer the truth? Yeah. We'll get there in a minute. So clutter, clutter, clutter. And they have a stuff problem. Too much stuff. They have a stuff problem. So now it's their budget. Their current home's worth 700,000.

And their range is 700 and 900 for their next home.

That's a pretty big range. Huge range. And then their budget to renovate is 55,000. So Dave and Alchemist grows the 700 and just goes straight to your$900,000 budget. Alright, dude. I see it.

Um, so he's talking about it, and then we see Hillary and Desta, and new season, same story.

They're sitting there on the porch with their whiteboard, drawing out how the house is gonna look. And I'm like, oh, yeah. Something's never changed.

So they're like drawing it out, talking about what they're gonna do. They're gonna, and she's Hillary's like, we're gonna move this all the way here. We're gonna move this all the way here. We're gonna do this, we're gonna do this, we're gonna move the laundry upstairs, we're gonna finish the paddock, we're gonna put it in a bedroom, we're gonna put it in a bathroom up there, we're gonna do this, we're gonna do this.

And I'm like, um$55,000. Not a lot of dollars. No. Good luck. So here we go. Immediately. Ripping out the ceiling. They're just ripping like tearing the ceiling up. I'm like, my. What's happening? What's gonna happen?

I mean, it was just, alright, let's go for the attic. We're gonna do the attic immediately.

And bad news. The attic is not livable.

So this attic that they bought from the builder of this house, they were told it was structurally ready to be finished. It is not.

They have to now add support beams and completely structure the entire attic to live in. More on that later. Mm-hmm. Budget. The whole budget. Every penny. Every penny. More on that later. So they go to their first house. 2500 square feet. Five bedrooms, two bathrooms, finished basement, fireplace. Remember, they want a fireplace. Has galley kitchen. This has every single thing on their list that they asked David for.

But it was awful as far as like cosmetic. Like the house had a lot of really good bones, but cosmetically, it did need a lot. Like one of the bedrooms had a sewer pipe running through it that you could see. They didn't enclose the sewer pipe. It was sewer pipe in the corner.

You can fix anything. And it was. I mean, it was listed at$7.79 below their budget.

And he said I wouldn't pay$10 for this house. Okay. Now we're back at their new house.

We're back at their existing house again. And the contractors are there. They're adding support beams to the house. They're bringing them in through the window, doing all these things.

But the builder again had told them this was done. It's not. And I said, I wrote this in my notes right now.

This is why, even in a new build, or especially in a new build, you have to do a home inspection. I use a little great company that I recommend. And they go in actually twice in a new build during the building process. They go in pre-installation or pre-drival, sorry, to make sure that all the insulation is in the house. Before driw goes in, they go in, they inspect the house.

Then they go in again before you do your punch out to make sure everything is good. Because you're buying a very expensive item.

And especially on a new build, a new item that's never been used.

So then I'm like going thinking about that, thinking about it. And Hillary goes, I cannot believe that this did not come up in their home inspection.

Those are hurt me, or as I said, Hillary's on my side. And then we see Julie, the homeowner. And she says, Well, there were six other offers on this house. And to ticket the house, we chose to not do an inspection. Dumb choice. And here we are. So again, just just stupid.

That's not the way to win a it's not worth it. If you have to forego a home inspection to get a house, that's not your house.

And then you go into a basement apartment somehow. But then the basement apartment has a second floor. I don't understand.

And then from that upstairs, when you get back into the house, I didn't get it. I I watched it two times. I could not figure it out. It made no sense. I was like, is this like an underground tunnel? I don't know. I don't understand. Is it like a skywalk that goes from back and forth?

Because they're in a house. You go to the basement apartment and then you go up. I don't know. It didn't make any sense. But this one was really nice. It was really nice. It was a decent price. But not in their neighborhood.

Yes. So not only per code do they have to put all the structure in, they had to add a balcony because it had to have a second route of escape. So like it had to have like a second exit from this attic.
