Welcome back to Nightmare Party, the only D podcast you need. How's everyone doing? Everyone doing good and feeling fun?
SPEAKER_02So excited for all our for all our party people out there. That's the new name for our fans.
SPEAKER_06The party people. I love it. Oh great, Kevin. Great. How are you all any any insights into Dungeons and Dragons and tabletop role playing in general?
SPEAKER_15I just like how easy it is because people were like, it's complicated, but like all you do is you just say, like, I I want to do this, and you roll a D20, and usually it doesn't happen.
SPEAKER_02Or you say no, no, I'm going over here, or like, uh, how about no? Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_05Yeah. You guys do sort of, you know, you know, take a lot of I give you an inch, you take a mile. Not every dungeon master is necessarily like that.
SPEAKER_06So you know, you'll be at different experiences at different tables. But I'm just here to to have fun with my friends. So that's uh that's what I love about this.
SPEAKER_04Were they? Okay, great. So let's stop.
SPEAKER_06Let's stop before saying things I can't take back. Yeah. Um we remember last time uh uh our party, our current party, because there's been a few versions of uh uh characters um doing our our campaigns. Will Pomkin Chain and Ryan Beale, the dwarf. Um escaped from, um, and I say escape from with um uh quotation marks because you never really even went into uh the skeleton city. Um but clearly you you guys uh assed out that maybe there was something um untoward afoot. They were desperate for you to go to an event where it was maybe clear that you would be uh maybe yourselves the main course. It seemed quite obvious.
SPEAKER_15They were they were kind of showing their hand a lot.
SPEAKER_12You made it really obvious, Ryan.
SPEAKER_02It's really giving me the ick.
SPEAKER_12Yeah. Yeah, the whole town was sort of giving us the ick, Ryan.
SPEAKER_05That's fair. That's fair. It was well, it wasn't a it was this it was a town of skeletons.
SPEAKER_06So not everything is gonna be hunky-dory on this uh uh adventure path of ours. But you did escape, you escaped, you you sort of uh uh fought off some skeleton guards. I believe you drowned them, because skeletons we found out can't swim but can drown. And then you made a raft out of their bones, and you're now down the river, escaping from uh uh danger as as you sort of uh go on your way. Yes.
SPEAKER_15And we left High Wizard Quelfner in prison, in jail?
SPEAKER_06Yes, we had uh we had to sort of uh bouncing around with high High Wizard Quelfner, I believe, is in jail, threatening to avenge himself. Yeah, bone jail. Bone jail.
SPEAKER_03Bone jail, yes, from the federal bones.
SPEAKER_06You can do anything with bones. Rafts, jail, anything you want. Cool. Um, so we're gonna be on a river.
SPEAKER_02For rafts to jail. Bones. Invest in bones.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, that's uh that's quite the gamut there.
SPEAKER_12We better hope the doggos don't get into bonesville, otherwise they'll go. Oh my god. Could you imagine the doggos in in the in the skeleton town?
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. I wonder if the skeleton town's directly beneath Dog London. Like, how crazy would that be?
SPEAKER_06Like they're oh, maybe yeah, the worlds are linked, maybe. Oh, speaking of links, dogs.
SPEAKER_12Dogs. What? Sausage links. Oh what? Yeah, dogs like those. Classic dogs. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, I think they do. In cartoons and stuff, I think.
SPEAKER_12Dogs love making connections to things.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, yeah. Dogs like that. Yeah. Uh so why don't we why don't we why don't we start off like a nice soft start with our characters on the raft? Oh, nice. Your your your your maybe the the water is fairly deep, but not nothing rapid, you know what I mean? It's slow moving, but you're lazily going down this river. What do you say to each other?
SPEAKER_12Oh, lazy river.
SPEAKER_06Oh, it's a lazy river.
SPEAKER_02And it's underground still, right?
SPEAKER_03Like we're sort of in it's like an underground river.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I remember the skeleton was like on the edge of town. Oh, so I don't know if it's on I don't know if we're necessarily underground. We might have a big open sky. I think you have a big open sky.
SPEAKER_02I think the skeleton town is clouds soft, soft as you, pumpkin.
SPEAKER_15Oh, look at that guy playing banjo above us. That's so nice. Oh, it's another banjo.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Three banjos. If we could grab them, we could all play. It's lovely.
SPEAKER_11It's nice to imagine.
SPEAKER_15Hey, can you pass me that cold beer you have over there? You mean this bone?
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, I mean a cold beer.
SPEAKER_15Yeah, thank you. So crack that open. Are we losing our minds? I don't know. We've been out here for quite a while.
SPEAKER_02I mean, I haven't flashed anyone and I don't know how long.
SPEAKER_11I feel like the sun is making us go crazy, drinking bones like beers.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, I do want to put you're just on a river, you're not on like the ocean. So you can, I guess, pull over anytime you like.
SPEAKER_15We've been trapped in the middle. We've been sailing for how long? I haven't seen land in how long.
SPEAKER_02Can I roll to can I roll to see if I look at uh like Will Pumpkin and he looks like um like a big bowl of soup or something? Oh yeah, absolutely so.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, okay, great. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I rolled an eight.
SPEAKER_05Yeah, so yeah, you do.
SPEAKER_06You look at him and he looks he looks kind of like you you slowly look at him and he looks like a big old turkey. Good. Are you seeing what I'm seeing, Ryan Beale?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm looking at a turkey I'd like to put in my pants and poke at my fly to make it look like a dick and freak everyone out.
SPEAKER_15You look like a sausage roll, Ryan Beal.
SPEAKER_02Oh me?
SPEAKER_15Yeah.
SPEAKER_06Yum yum.
SPEAKER_02Oh, wait, don't eat me.
SPEAKER_06So it sounds like you guys like feel like you might be like shipwrecked or something. You're on a river, so the the banks of the river on either side of you are quite close. Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Land's been nothing but trouble to me in my life. Nice. I'm ready for the seafaring life.
SPEAKER_11Yeah. You both look like sandwiches to me. What kind of sandwich? You look like a P B and J. A please butter Joey.
SPEAKER_02Look like butter and like a like a child kangaroo. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_15You look like a BLT. A big little tomato.
SPEAKER_05Oh as you're discussing what each other looks like a croque, monsieur.
SPEAKER_02A crabby rock and roll.
SPEAKER_06In the distance, you start to see something coming in the river. It looks like it could be like a rope bridge, but as you get closer, you're like a hundred yards away, let's say. It just looks like a big net made of rope that's half in the river and half out, blocking your passage completely.
SPEAKER_11Are you guys seeing what I'm seeing? It looks like a big it looks like um one of those nettings that can surround an um an you know, a Chinese apple pear. Yeah.
SPEAKER_15Like that they protect the apple pears in. Or it looks like loose wheatabics hanging in the water. Let's eat it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06I'm gonna try to eat it. So you're 50 yards away still, so you decide to keep going. You've got some decisions.
SPEAKER_02But all of us walk to the front of the raft and start going, pawing in the air and biting at the air. Just getting ready for the water.
SPEAKER_15We've been on the ocean for so long. We've been taking some river water going crazy.
SPEAKER_05And I think it's been I think it's been a day at most, like a whole day.
SPEAKER_06But you can get quite hungry, I suppose. Yeah, because of you. So you're just gonna float towards it. You're all decide you're just gonna you're just gonna make like you're chewing as you approach it. Yeah. Because that's how hungry you are. Is that right? Okay, now you're 20 yards away. I'm gonna keep giving you. Okay. Still want to do this? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Oh, question for Ryan. My glowing hand. Any change, it's just glowing still. Still glowing.
SPEAKER_06Good question. Thank you very much. Yes, your hand is still glowing. No. Okay. Same amount, same everything. Nothing's really changed. It doesn't hurt you anymore, or can't do it. There's no new powers that developed with it. It's still just a glowing hand. Ten yards.
SPEAKER_11Look at the sky. The clouds are crazy. Wow. Look at that, wheel pumpkin.
SPEAKER_02It looks like another waiter bicks up in the sky.
SPEAKER_11Oh, I want to go up towards it. I'm gonna roll. Can I roll to see if we can go up? You wanna roll to see if you can go up and the raft can go up.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like a paddle up.
SPEAKER_05Can we paddle up?
SPEAKER_06Only way this will work is if you roll a 20. I rolled an eight. Yeah, no, you can't go up. The raft doesn't fly, and it gets suddenly softly, not too hard, you get stuck in this netting that's uh crossing.
SPEAKER_02What does it taste like? It tastes like rope. Can I can I roll to see if I actually manage to chew through it?
SPEAKER_06Yeah, sure. It'll be a pretty difficult roll, but yeah, see if you can. I want to do the same roll. Okay, I rolled a nine. No. You mean you mean you're still chewing it. Can I roll two? There you go. I rolled a 11. No, no. I rolled a one. And definitely not. All of a sudden on the other side, jump up two eel guys. They're eels with mustaches and arms and legs, and they kind of like slipper around and go like, ha, we are, and they finish each other's sentences. The eel brothers. And you have stuck in our toll trap.
SPEAKER_11I cut them off, I go, ooh, spaghetties! I want to eat them. Oh, I want to eat those. They remind me of spaghetti.
SPEAKER_04I mean, okay.
SPEAKER_06Like, this is a toll net. You have to pay us a toll to get down the river. What's the toll? They both say and they say a bunch of different things. Three silver, a story, a secret, one boot. They go, and it goes, it descends into chaos. Like they're they're they're mad. They're mad. They jump around, they slip around, they go down and up. You're trapped.
SPEAKER_15Um okay. Uh I'm gonna I'm gonna attack them. Okay.
SPEAKER_06Yeah. So let's talk this out a little bit. So you're on the other side of the net, you're gonna like what do you got? Where are they? They're they're on the other side. And remember, they're slipping and sliding. So they're like five-foot eels, too.
SPEAKER_15Are they eels or are they eel guys?
SPEAKER_06They're eel guys. So they're eels that can move like eels, but then they also have arms and legs.
SPEAKER_12So they've probably got the uh uh insecurities of guys. Yeah, totally.
SPEAKER_15So small penis. And you're mediocre. Like, excuse me, eel guys. We've been on the ocean for so long. It's a it's a river. And we need fresh water. What's the river? The river is is around beautiful, crystal clear water. You can't drink it, it's too salty.
SPEAKER_11We can't drink it. It tastes like bone when we scoop out a bit.
SPEAKER_15Yeah, only choice. I love sushi.
SPEAKER_06Um, they kind of stare at you, they're right up against the net, and they go, I guess you could get out and walk around or pay the tool.
SPEAKER_02I'm gonna start climbing the net. Hey, hey, hey, hey!
SPEAKER_06Uh they kind of push and prod you. Kevin, give me a roll to see if you hang on.

SPEAKER_02A three.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, you fall down. You fall down into the water.
SPEAKER_02Spoosh! Ah! Ryan!
SPEAKER_15I try to help him out of the water. Okay, yeah, I think you can probably help him out. Well, I I'm a bit unclear. What is the toll?
SPEAKER_06It's you decide, and then we decide if we like it.
SPEAKER_11Oh, I don't like these guys. They lack conviction.
SPEAKER_15That's because they have the insecurities of a guy.
SPEAKER_04Like Will Pumpkin judging someone for lack of conviction.
SPEAKER_11I'm just gonna talk to them. Guys, yes, what's going on with you? Is everything okay? I mean, yes, we control this part of the river. But what's that mean in the grand scheme? What who's who cares? I guess we never really thought about it before.
SPEAKER_06We were born in the river and we made this netting out of rope we stole from other boots.
SPEAKER_02Don't you have a dream? I mean, each of us has a dream that we're all working towards. We're trying to be less of your dreams.
SPEAKER_11I'm trying to be less of a coward.
SPEAKER_15I want to help Will Pumpkin be less of a coward because I've never been I've never done a selfless act.
SPEAKER_02I'm trying to uh I'm trying to uh I'm trying to sell out uh Madison Dog Garden.
SPEAKER_15In Dog London?
SPEAKER_02No, in New Dog City. Okay.

SPEAKER_06Those dreams sound interesting, but we're just eel guys.

SPEAKER_15Whoa, Will's coming into his own. Let's see what he has to say for himself. Yeah. We're all eels. Oh shut up.

SPEAKER_06We we're the eel brothers. Yes, your brothers. And we come from a large family of eels. Most of our brothers and sisters died upon birth. The rate is high. You've got trauma. We survive through our cunning and strength. Set up this net, and we've made a pretty good go of it.

SPEAKER_02Yeah, and even when you're doing that, b both of you just shake your head back and forth as you do it, as if you need to pass it. Which is stalking. Why? Like, how did you learn?
SPEAKER_04Essentially, twins. We're twins.

SPEAKER_06Jamie. We've come a long way together. We've captured a lot of boats and rafts. But maybe it's time we capture some emotions. Diego, you are the only living member of my family. You are everything to me.
SPEAKER_14If I lost you, I couldn't go on. Now I want you to admit to each other that you ate all your siblings. We admit it. Jamie, I ate three siblings.
SPEAKER_04Diego, I ate twenty-one siblings.
SPEAKER_11Now forgive each other and forgive yourselves.

SPEAKER_02How does that feel?
SPEAKER_06Wow! And they rip the netting down because they're very strong, by the way. They're like very strong. They kind of got like the strength of maybe uh, I guess a chimpanzee.
SPEAKER_03Well, one of them has the strength of 21 eels. That's right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_06And they rip it down and they go, thank you for all you've given us. I guess keep on your goings.
SPEAKER_02The net's down, kill him. Yeah, and I grab a sharpened bone and I stab Jamie right in the face.
SPEAKER_15Yeah, and I'm gonna back up my my my bros.
SPEAKER_06Okay, so great. So let's do some rolling. So the with the stab, Kevin, can you just uh see like how that goes?
SPEAKER_02I rolled a nineteen.
SPEAKER_06So do you do you know which one you stabbed? Jay I said Jamie. Yeah, so you stab Jamie and kill him kill him instantly.
SPEAKER_15I take a big femur and I try to whack uh Diego on the head.
SPEAKER_02And when I and when I stab him, I take out a slide whistle and I go.
SPEAKER_15Okay, I'm gonna roll.
SPEAKER_14I'm rolling. Yes. I rolled a oh a nine only.
SPEAKER_06Okay, so yeah, you do hit Diego. And it kind of like kind of like he'll have a black eye.
SPEAKER_04He's like, oh! And he looks to his now dead brother.
SPEAKER_06No! So he's a little bit distracted. But so if you want to hit him again, I guess. Okay. Can I go again? Yeah.
SPEAKER_11Hit him again. 16.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, so you yeah, you knock him unconscious. Okay. You don't kill him necessarily. No, he's an unconscious eel. Finish him! I feel like I should.
SPEAKER_15I mean, we just killed this guy's twin brush.
SPEAKER_10He'll come for us if we don't finish him.
SPEAKER_15You're right. We should finish him. Will, do you want to uh do you want to do the killing blow?
SPEAKER_11Yes, I'll kill him. I'm gonna roll to kill him. Rolled an 18.
SPEAKER_05You hit him so hard.
SPEAKER_06He's like, I'm sorry to say this, but like he like his his eel skull opened up. Oh fuck.
SPEAKER_04Terrible. You took these guys down as a motion. This is all like they weren't even that aggressive. Like they don't want to kill us. They just were like asking for like a story or or like anything can be told. They were kind of supposed to be goofy.
SPEAKER_02I do feel really bad. Will just then kill them and I just went for it. I just got I just Will so persuasive right now. Wait, okay.
SPEAKER_11Oh no, I feel bad too. What have we done? We've got to find a all of our hands. We've gotta get rid of the bodies, we've gotta eat them. Is there no way to save them, to bring them back? Some sort of a sorcerer. My mind got the best of me. I was feeling so confident. I then went to the body.
SPEAKER_06You look to the shore. There's this a turtle with a little top hat who's witnessed everything. We have to kill him now, too. Kill him!
SPEAKER_02What is the turtle?
SPEAKER_03What's the turtle's reaction? Like, is it?
SPEAKER_11He looks he starts to run away. We gotta get him. We gotta get him. Okay, he's a red turtle bag. Okay, guys, straight up. We kill the turtle, then we bring the two eels and the turtle and try to to the high wizard 129 and try to bring them all back.
SPEAKER_15But for now, we've got to kill the turtle. Yeah, we have to just in case we can't bring them all back. We do have to kill the turtle, but then we can try to get them back to back to life.
SPEAKER_11Including the turtle.
SPEAKER_15So we chase after the turtle. You can catch up to the turtle.
SPEAKER_02And also, I want to say we might have to resolve our own trauma. Because why did we do that?
SPEAKER_15We're in it now, though.

SPEAKER_06So he's also, yeah, and like he's recently given blood too. Oh, so he's a bit bit don't.

SPEAKER_15Oh my god, we just watch this. I think I'm like, I mean, you're watching this like you have a couple minutes to respond. Okay, I I just walk I'm gonna can I do like an insanity check? Like I feel like this is We've gone insane. Like I I feel like I should roll to see like how affected I am by this, by this murder.
SPEAKER_14Oh, by what you're witnessing? By what I witnessed, what I did. Absolutely, Mark. Let's see. So I'm just gonna roll a dice and you tell me what it means to me.
SPEAKER_15Okay, D27.
SPEAKER_06Um you are you're not you're like you're not as if you're not you haven't gone like past the point. You've sort of you're able to compartmentalize, I suppose. Okay. And rationalize, I guess. Yeah. This is fine. This is for the better good. I mean, you've seen a lot of like you're a criminal. So I think there's like maybe something in your past that like you know, you have sort of that uh eater be eaten, killer be killed, maybe mentality a little bit going on. Yeah. Um and then so you've got uh we've got about 30 seconds left before the turtle strangled.
SPEAKER_15Um sorry, go ahead, Kevin.
SPEAKER_02I was gonna say, come on, Joe! We can't just say you're not gonna rat us out. I have to.

SPEAKER_06Yeah, this one was a wild. I do love that about DD. I love that the characters you play can die forever. So hopefully we can bring Chain back. We've come to know, we've come to love Chain. But these decisions we make are final in DD, and that's what's fun about it for me. Yeah. That's what creates interesting story, the roller coaster ride of life. And sometimes the dice aren't on your side. Yeah. But sometimes they are, and you kill two cool NPCs. Fuck.
SPEAKER_02They were. That's one of the times I was really counting on to roll low, and all of us are like 18, 19, 18, 19, over and over.
SPEAKER_06Yeah, you beat that guy to death. Anyways, crushed a scar. You're you're you're on you're on the precipice of Choncoville. You're trying to get these uh and maybe it'll all work out. Okay, maybe that'll be the end of this chapter, and everyone will come back to life. Yeah. Chain.
