I sat down with Lan, a wine marketing specialist based in Vietnam, and this conversation completely shifted how I think about introducing wine to a new generation.
Lan has spent the last five to six years working in the wine industry and now helps a Vietnamese wine importer connect younger drinkers to a world they never thought was for them.
We talked about why Gen Z in Vietnam is actually drinking more wine than millennials did, how street wine bars in Hanoi are changing the culture, and why the biggest barrier to entry isn't price, it's overthinking. Lan breaks down the three things that shape a wine's flavor, shares unexpected Vietnamese food pairings that actually work, and debunks the "room temperature" myth that means something very different when you're living somewhere that hits 30 degrees Celsius.
Whether you're brand new to wine or just looking for a fresh perspective, this episode is your permission slip to stop being intimidated and just enjoy the glass in front of you.
What's the first wine that made you fall in love with wine?
Why I care so much about why? I see in in my personal opinion because I love uncle drink. But I want to have an uncle drink that uh has a huge amount of knowledge that make me learn every day. And I I feel why is the only drink that can meet that requirement of mine. That you see in in the world has a lot of uh like you can say sommelier the white expert. And also they they can be in different flavor, like in WZ, level one, level two, level three, or like in or like mustard wine. And uh to reach to that uh to that step of your career, you have to learn a lot. You have to experience a lot. Have to taste like uh hundred or even thousand bottles of wine throughout the years. And I love the job and the drink make me uh study every day and learn the new thing every day. And also the world wine is really huge. It's all over the world. So I want to taste the wine from Italy, I want to taste the wine from France, and also other countries like Georgia or um what the country or Hungary. It's it's not popular. So it led me to the very niche uh area of uh one industry, and I feel it's really really impressive and interesting sign of being in the wine industry.
SPEAKER_00Welcome everybody back to the Barrels and Roots podcast. I am your host, Sean Trace, and I have a really interesting guest with me today. Would you like to tell people who you are and a little bit about what you do?
SPEAKER_02Hello everyone. My name is Lan. I'm working in the wine industry for about uh five, six years, and now I'm a marketing specialist for a wine importer in Vietnam. So uh because my experience in wine industry and especially in wine marketing, I want to uh join the show to share more um about the news perspective of young people, of how they consume the wine and how they want to experience the wine in the future.
SPEAKER_00That's awesome because I mean a lot of the challenges, especially in different markets, but the American market right now, is that are drinking less wine. And so I'm curious what you find uh uh about young people right now that you're seeing as they interact with wine.
SPEAKER_02I see the opposite trend in Vietnam because now the Zhenzi they want to know more about wine. And uh uh specifically in Hanoi, now a lot of street Y bar are open. So uh all the young people want to be a part of this trend, so they go to the Y bar and they order a lots of wine or a bottle of wine. It's the first step of being uh a Y enthusiast. Because now they just in the first level of the Y experience. So they want to uh firstly like post a picture of like how I follow the trend, how I am a trendy person, of why, and after that. Hopefully, after that with the Y uh marketing and uh how the Y Ba uh approach the young people.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And then they gain more and more interesting mo more and more interest in uh wine. Hopefully. So now I see young people in Vietnam drink more wine than the people in my uh generation, millennial. That's a very interesting trick.
SPEAKER_00Yes. Right? Because, you know, it's different generations have different things that they grew up with and experience. But I want to ask about your experience a little bit. What was the first wine that you ever tasted that made you think, oh wow, this is really interesting? And do you have a favorite?
SPEAKER_02Um it's a very interesting question because that bottle of wine that I tried the first time led me to the Y industry.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, nice.
SPEAKER_02So uh it's the most wow experience in Y that I ever like experienced in my life. It's about uh six years ago.
SPEAKER_04Okay.
SPEAKER_02Uh I went on a date. So it happened in a Y bar.
SPEAKER_04Nice.
SPEAKER_02And uh we just randomly order um bottle of white wine because it's summertime. And at that time I feel, wow, how can be the wine so refreshing and also contain a lot of flavor, a lot of layer of aroma and flavor. At that time I cannot name all of them, but I just can only uh see the like uh lemon and uh green apple and a lot more that I cannot explain because it's really complex. And at that time I I see I want to know more about why. So uh um some months later I found a work opportunity in why industry and it led me to this why uh career and now I want to learn more and more about why and it it inspired me every day because why knowledge and why war is really like broaden really a lot of knowledge that I want to know.
SPEAKER_00Nice.
SPEAKER_02It's yeah, it's uh more the experience.
SPEAKER_00Right, there's so many layers, and like that's one of the interesting things about the wine world for me is like you get your foot in the door and you start down this path, but there's so much more to learn. And I wanted to ask you too, because um as you are working with marketing, how are you trying to bring people into uh into wine? What are some of the things that you do with marketing to get uh a new generation into wine?
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm. Now I am doing the video marketing and I aim to the people who are using TikTok mostly and Instagram also. And I know the one thing about people who uh want to know more about why but have no knowledge. That they don't have a lot of time to uh to study about why. So I want to keep it very simple and very useful in daily life. So uh with my why uh video series, I uh I put the scenario that I have a girl who went on a date with a guy. So I teach him about the technique, about the tip to all the wine in the Y bar, to how to uh drink wine and uh experience wine in a simple but uh effective way. So I hope that uh it's one of like for many people who work in wine industry, I want to be a part of uh the one who can inspire the young people to know more about wine and don't see it as just a trend or like a luxury product that is difficult to approach. But I want to be the easy drink that they can drink in their daily life.
SPEAKER_00I love it.
SPEAKER_02It should be simple like that.
SPEAKER_00And it's interesting too because it is a part, it can be a part of daily life, you know. So many people, it's wine is this very out there thing, you know, like it's removed. But a lot of people and friends I know, like wine is just a glass, it's what they have for dinner, you know? You sit down, you have a wonderful meal, and then you pour a glass of wine. And it's that that cultural perspective of wine that I think is is fun. And I think that that's one of the things that I I like seeing people market some of that as well, because how can we make wine fun for the next generation, you know?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I have the same opinion because um I have some foreign friends that when I ask them about wine, they know nothing. But they still drink them on the daily basis. So, do you have a lot of knowledge to drink wine every day? No, I don't think so. So just treat the wine as a daily drink, like beer or like your spirit, gin, something like that. It makes the wine more friendly to old people.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_02Is how I see the wine and how I want to inspire people around me to see the wine in that way.
SPEAKER_00Right. Well, it's interesting too, because I like what you said that like you don't have to have all this knowledge to enjoy wine. You can just enjoy it and not have to have all the answers. You don't have to go, oh, this has it has all of these flavors, or just enjoy the wine and and see, you know, what's fun for you. Try it out and see what's the most interesting part of it, you know?
SPEAKER_02Yes. Yeah, exactly.
SPEAKER_00What's what's your favorite varietal of wine? If you are going out to a restaurant with friends, what do you want to drink?
SPEAKER_02Because I'm living in a tropical country, so of course my number one choice should be the white wine. And I love Sauvignon Blanc because it's very crisp, very fresh, and has a lot of flavor of lemon. Also, the fresh uh grass, the fresh cut grass, you know, it's very green, very herbal, and really refreshing. And it's also compare with a lot of Vietnamese food, like um a lot of type seafood, steamed seafood. It's really uh popular in everyday meal in Vietnam and also uh steamed fish and some um Vietnamese note, you know, Vietnamese uh salad. It's it's really, really easy to pair with Vietnamese cuisine. So I love it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, right? Well, and it's interesting too because you know, I I've seen some of the content that you put out around wine, and it's really fun. You're pouring glasses, you're having glasses with friends, and you're trying to introduce people to it in a new medium. Uh, you know, very interesting videos. When you go and make a wine video, what are you trying to do with your video? Are you trying to teach people? Are you trying to make it look fun? What is the goal of your the marketing videos that you make?
SPEAKER_02The I have so many gold, but uh mostly I want to I want people to um love wine more as a daily drink.
SPEAKER_04I like it.
SPEAKER_02Of course, like in every field, in every drink, you should have a little bit of knowledge to uh drink it in the right way to uh enjoy the most of it, to enjoy all the flavor that the winemaker put on it. But um the the knowledge should shouldn't be too much. It should be just basic, right? So people the most of people who uh want to know more about drinking, they can see why as the other option that they can choose between beer, between Vietnamese uh spirit, the rice and wine or something like that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. It's interesting too because I think wine is one choice that people have, but it, you know, if someone is sitting there going to a restaurant and they're trying to pick, you know, they're looking at this menu, and I have great beer, great spirits, great cocktails, and great wine. How would you tell them, why would you tell them that wine is a more fun option?
SPEAKER_01Hmm. Interesting question.
SPEAKER_02For me, it's depend on like how you want your conversation going.
SPEAKER_04I like that.
SPEAKER_02For me, the why the why is to drink slowly and to have the more open and deep conversation. That you cannot have that with beer because beer makes you have to drink a lot to be uh a little bit tipsy. Yeah or spirit or cocktail, you can get drunk so quickly. So uh for uh for wine, you can drink slowly, have the good conversation that I see a lot of people around me, they all say that having wine make them open more, make them want to talk more and to uh open with other people is the point of drinking wine for me.
SPEAKER_00I love that. And I think that's it. I think that wine is one of the like I know people drink beer together, but you each will have a different beer, you know, like you've got your beer, but we all open and share a bottle of wine together, you know. It it's something that is very much a community focus, and you know, and the wine itself becomes the discussion. You know, you pull out a bottle and you're like, oh, this bottle. And often a bottle has a story. I've got a bottle here from uh Glory Ferrer. My friend Kyle gave me this bottle when I was back in Napa. It's uh it's a sparkling rose, it is absolutely wonderful. It's a uh Royal Cuvé Rose, it's wonderful. I brought it back from Sonoma when I was in California last time. Now, if I'm sitting down with my friends, I'm gonna tell them the story that the winemaker told me. And it just becomes this thing that like is special like that. Or maybe there's a wine from a certain year and you're thinking back, well, what happened that year? You know, what was that year like? I I I like those types of things because wine to me is community, you know.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. For me, uh you can have so many topics when you have a bottle of wine to drink together. It should be it can be the like how the winemaking, how the how the winemaker makes the wine, how the grade, how um the tewa of that area. Like so many topics beside a wine you can say, you can speak together. And it's how interesting the wine because the wine can be uh just a bottle of um like liquid that you can drink, but it also uh a riculture product and it also the um the art because so many winemakers make the label become an art. Like they are the the um artist, the painter to do the the label. So uh so many bottles can relate to one bottle of wine.
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_02That I love, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I do too. And I think that that like you you're you're wine to me, another thing that I love about wine is that wine's classy. You know, it's I get to feel special, you know. I get to feel like I am a little bit fancy, you know, and I'm not always fancy, but I I love it. I get to feel fancy because you know, one of the things when you go to a wine, you know, you get to hold it and feel special. You get the nice glass. And to me, you know, I think in life, everyone should feel special. You know, everyone should feel like they can be um fancy at times, you know? And it's like I think that wine to me is a little bit of a way that I can feel fancy, even when I I don't want to do anything crazy, you know. I don't want to have to go and do something wild, but I can go to a wine or have a really nice glass of wine and sit there and go, wow, I feel peaceful and having fun right now, you know?
SPEAKER_02Yes. Formerly the same. That's why. That's why we have a lot of yeah. That's why we uh can choose a lot of range of the wine, like some wine you can see in the supermarket, right?
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But some wine you can only see in the private seller that um produce in the limited uh quality quantity every year. So the wine can make you feel different, make you feel casual, or make you feel like very luxury or very like in high level of knowledge.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's it's a different, yeah. You can see right.
SPEAKER_00It's interesting too, because wine has all those levels, you know. And for I want to ask you about that because for someone who knows nothing about wine, what's the best way, the easiest way to start learning about wine?
SPEAKER_02Um, my tip is stop overthinking.
unknownRight.
SPEAKER_02Because now all people say that uh wine is a luxury product, luxury drink.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So it's they it makes them feel afraid of going to the wine bar and order a bottle of wine because they think, oh my god, it's very expensive. How can I afford it? Or maybe I have to pay a lot of money. Of course, you want you have to pay a lot of money if you want a really good bottle of wine. But also you can just start with a very simple action that go to the y shop nearby your house and buy a bottle of wine. It's very simple. And uh I just want to say one one or two tips about uh buying a bottle of wine to drink at home.
SPEAKER_00I would love to start with yeah.
SPEAKER_02Firstly, you should start with the single varietal. Like uh buy even an intra-level bottle of wine, but make from only one type of grid. So you can fully see how that grip tastes like, how it smells like. It's uh basic knowledge that you can use in the future to uh to know and to uh clarify that what type of grid that you like. And uh the second one is just drink wine in the right temperature. It's very important because if the white wine uh was not served in um about 10 or 11 degrees, it will be taste like vinegar.
SPEAKER_03Ah or the red wine.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, you see. So it should be the right temperature and that's all. Uh with all that you can drink wine slowly and taste the wine and uh smell the wine. That the smell of the wine of the itch entire crib has the smell similar, like something you taste every day at home. Like it can taste like it can smell like lemon or it can smell like uh peach or like pepper. It's all very familiar, right? So just drink it slowly and try to uh like think about what you taste in real life, so what similar to that uh flavor. So you will see the interest uh the very uh interesting sign about wine.
SPEAKER_00I love that. It is a good tip because it's like one of the things that I have a lot of guests say is that one of the most important things that you can do is to just try different wines. Because, you know, if you're trying different things, you'll be able to get an idea of what you like and what you don't like. And knowing what you don't like is also very important. For me, I don't like very uh bready wines. So, like anything that's got like a very bready taste that extra yeasty, not my flavors. You know, I I learned that uh while ago. Some of these, like when they do like Lee's fermentation where they ferment on top of the uh the yeast, I don't like that flavor. I just don't know why. But I love I love Pinot. I love I'm a huge fan of Pinot. I love um also Sauvignon Blanc. And uh what else, man? I like a really good uh fruit balm cab, but that's also because I grew up in Napa, like Napa, California. Like the Cabernet is really big, you know, they're like really big, you know, cabs. And so I have this weird taste. But there's certain things I don't like, you know. I'm you know, and that's it's a process. You learn it, you know, you try some, you're like, mm, that's great. But what I try to tell people is when you're like, mm, that's great. Why do you think it's great? What about it do you like? And when you taste a wine, you're like, mmm, I don't like that. What about it do you not like? Is it bitter? Is it sour? Does it have uh a certain flavor that you don't like? I had one wine and it tasted like licorice. And I don't know why it tasted like licorice, but I was just like, I don't like licorice, and so it wasn't my favorite, you know. But I think that that's kind of the That if you can get out and try stuff, um it's a lot easier and more fun.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think the same. So uh from what you say, I guess you don't like champagne, right?
SPEAKER_00I actually do like champagne. I do like champagne. I like champagne and sparkling, but I know it, but I had this one wine that was like it tasted, it was so much yeast that it tasted like bread. And it was just a very bready wine. And I don't like bready ones. And I know sometimes you can get that with some shards as well. Uh but yeah, it it's just that that flavor. It's weird though, but I love champagne though. I mean so it's wild.
SPEAKER_02Okay, okay. So maybe if it's too much flavor of that yeast and something like that you don't like, but it is delicate, you still like it.
SPEAKER_00I do like the delicate. I love it. And I mean, who doesn't love bubbles? Bubbles are wonderful. Like I love bubbly wines.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_00I will I want to ask you this. Why do some wines taste fruity while others taste earthy or spicy or smoky?
SPEAKER_02Um it should be coming from uh three factors. Of course, come from the grip. Uh do you know how many type grip that people use to uh produce wine nowadays?
SPEAKER_00Uh I don't know. Actually, that's a good question. I do not know the number of varietals that are out there. I mean, I know some of the major ones, but I don't know all of the other types. So I'm curious how many are there?
SPEAKER_02It's about uh 1,300.
SPEAKER_00That's a lot.
SPEAKER_02Type grip? Yes, that's a lot. But um, there's a lot of like uh local gripes that grow in the Georgia, Italy, or some country some other country that you don't even know. But uh in in the in the world wine today, maybe like uh 30 or 40 type grip that is popular around the world that you can see in the market. So um that's many type wine has a different flavor.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I mean egg type grip has different flavor and aroma. So uh first of all, the flavor should come from the DNA of that grid. It makes uh it made the aroma and smell different. And the second one is the homeland of that grid. That in a French term, you can you can hear a lot of like terroir. Right.
SPEAKER_00I can never say the word I can be like. I'm completely like thinking Vatma. And for for those of you listening that uh don't understand Vietnamese, I can speak Vietnamese, but my French is horrible. I can never say the word terroir. I I already I always end up saying materier. Oh, it's so hard for me.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, firstly I say that too. But now I know it's terroi. It's uh environment factor that affect the wine. Like the soil. If the wine comes from the volcanic uh soil with limestone, of course it will have a lot of mineral flavor and aroma. Like stony flavor, something like that. And um one other simple uh example is like the fruit, which comes from the tropical tropical country like Vietnam, it will have the uh sweeter, right? The sweeter flavor. Then the fruit comes from the cold country. So it also also impacts a lot of the how a grape tastes like. And the third one is very important, is the winemaking process. If the winemaker wants to put more like uh yeat flavour that you don't like or like nutty flavor of vanilla, they will put it in the oak barrel.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02To attract all the wood woody flavor and uh the nutty the um butter, the butter flavor to the wine. And also the time that uh they can etching in the wine in the barrel is making the wine have different flavor in the end. So that's why one one bottle of wine has complex flavor. If you make it in the right way and uh you uh focus on the quality on the winemaking, it will put more layer of flavor into the wine. So that's why you can see a lot of different flavor in the wine world today.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's awesome. There's so much going on there. If if if someone came up to you and said, Why do people care so much about wine? What would you say? Just random people. Uh people that are young people, people that you're trying to, let's say future possible customers. Let's start with that.
SPEAKER_02Why I care so much about wine? I see in in my personal opinion.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Because I love uncle drink. But I want to have an uncle drink that uh has a huge amount of knowledge. I love that. That makes me learn every day. And I I feel Y is the only drink that can meet that requirement of mine. That you see in in the world has a lot of uh like you can say somalia, the Y expert. And also they they can be in different flavor, like in WC, level one, level two, level three, or like in or like mustard wine.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And uh to reach to that uh to that step of your career, you have to learn a lot. So it led me to the very niche uh area of uh one industry, and I feel it's really, really in impressive and interesting sign of being in the wine industry.
SPEAKER_00Vietnamese food has so many strong flavors. What are some fun wine pairings people might not expect to work? Because I mean, I had been waiting to talk to someone from Vietnam about this because, like, for me, this morning I had boomvet, which is like so delicious, so savory, and I was sitting there and it was so hot, and I was like, I was trying to figure out what wine would pair with that, but you know, some traditional dishes like pho or boomba hui. Like, what are some of the what are your favorite wine pairings with interesting Vietnamese food?
SPEAKER_02I had some. Yeah, Vietnamese soot is not easy to to pair with wine because our uh our spice is really strong. But we still, yeah, we're still finding away. Like um in Somalia field, you can we talk a lot about like how wrestling can pair with. You know, right? Yes. It's wild because um I can never imagine about that, but now I want to introduce you a very, very how to say like uh comparable pairing that everyone, everyone loves. Do you love that? I love that a lot. So uh we try to pair with a bottle of wine that muncha also had uh fist sauce in it. So it's not it's not easy to pair with the wine, but I pair with um a bottle of lambrusco di sobra.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Uh-huh. It's uh it's the um red sparkling wine from Italy, yeah. So it also has the flavour of the red fruit, of the white berry, and a little bit of spine in there, but has a very high acidity. So why why you pair it with the with the lambusco because uh like the pork in in the buncha has an oily and smoky flavor. So when you eat it, you eat it, uh your mouth is coated in oil. So you need something bubble, something refreshing to clear your palate. To make it like more clear so you can feel um like Coca-Cola you drink with the with the fried chicken, right? Or the oil in in your mouth. But also it has the flavor of the white berry and also high acidity, sour. And also the a little bit of her herbal flavor. So when you drink it, the um the oil in in your pork is like go away. And it also makes the flavor, uh, the aroma of the pork is more enhanced because uh you can compare say have a squeeze of lemon or fresh herb in in in the rick dish, right? So it's live the experience. It's live the experience with our make it just oily.
SPEAKER_03Yes. Yes, I love that.
SPEAKER_00And see, and that's one of the things I think that one of the things too is I think that people feel shy when they want to start exploring pairings. Like they are like, oh, but if I get it, what if I get it wrong? And I think that like one of the things I tell people is that even if you get it wrong, you still have fun in the process, you know. Exactly. You you you learn, you're like, well, that didn't work. And yet it's okay. You know, it's okay that those flavors didn't go together. You try again, try something else. And then suddenly someday you find something that does click, and you're like, I didn't know that that flavor and that flavor could go together, but they do wonderfully, you know? And I think that's the joy of of trying out different wines and trying out different things.
SPEAKER_02Yes. You you don't afra you don't be afraid of trying the new thing.
SPEAKER_00Because I want to ask you because like, you know, what's a wine myth or something that everyone believes about wine that you wish people would stop believing?
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It's really funny that I see a lot of people these days. Uh they say about like um you should serve the red wine in the room temperature.
SPEAKER_00Hmm.
SPEAKER_02Room temperature in Vietnam.
SPEAKER_00I mean room temperature. Is in Vietnam room temperature? Like because room temperature in California is different from Vietnam. That's what I always like. I always want to know that, right?
SPEAKER_02Exactly. That term came from the um came from the Europe in the Anson Stonehouse. And at that time, the room temperature was 16 or 18. But in Vietnam, Vietnam is really hot. And it should be like 30 degrees. So of course you shouldn't serve your red wine in the Vietnamese room temperature, right? So I I hope that people stop using using that term. Because red wine should be served in the a little bit cool temperature. So uh my advice is put your wine. Put your red wine in uh in an ice bucket or in your uh refrige for like only five minutes, ten minutes to cool down. It will it will uh enhance the best flavor and aroma of the red wine.
SPEAKER_00I love that. If someone came to you right now and you were gonna pour them three glasses of wine, what wine would you pour them?
SPEAKER_02Let's say I will lead them to the experience. Firstly, of course, the bubble.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um for you it's champagne, but for me, uh I love proseco. Oh because it's nice, purely fresh. Of course, don't have the like compli complicated technique of winemaking, but it's all about the freshness that you can feel all the flavor of the wine fruit, of the flour, of the uh lemon. It's really freshing for the for the uh summer day like this.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's so hot today. Tonight I'm gonna get a nice white wine and I'm gonna enjoy some white wine today. Because people who don't know, we're filming this. I'm I'm in Ho Chuman City. It is very, very hot right now. You know, so perfect weather.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, even in Hanoi, in terms of easily. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00They're in Hanoi. Hanoi is hot right now, too, right? Second glass. What are you doing for second glass?
SPEAKER_02Second glass, the white wine, for sure. Uh accidentally, uh, yesterday I uh I was shooting for the marketing video and I tried moscatto from Italy.
SPEAKER_00Ooh.
SPEAKER_02You ever tried Moscato Dusty?
SPEAKER_00I have not tried that one. I love moscato, it's delicious.
SPEAKER_02It is.
SPEAKER_00What did you have? What was the wine that you had?
SPEAKER_02Uh it's uh moscato in jallo. It's not moscato in its normal way, but it's dry moscato. So it's really lovely. It's not like it's not like sweet like other moscato dusty that you uh usually see in the Y bar or in the Y Shop.
SPEAKER_00I love dry wine, so you're talking to me right now. I that sounds delicious.
SPEAKER_02Yes. That dry wine, uh, the flavor is full of um mint, you know, mince leaf. Really refreshing. And also like peach and white fruit and a little bit zesty, a little bit of the spice. It's uh it doesn't happen a lot in the white wine that uh they have spice in the white wine. So I love that, and I I see it can pair with a lot of uh Vietnamese uh dish, like um herbal grilled chicken. Yeah, I feel it will pair with it's like in the best, in the best. So um the second one is moscato, dry moscato.
SPEAKER_04And the last one dry mosquito.
SPEAKER_02Okay. Similar to you, I love Pinot. I love Pinot Noir a lot.
SPEAKER_04Love it.
SPEAKER_02Yes. So uh Pinot Noir from uh what type Pinot Noir you like? Like from where?
SPEAKER_00I mean, I lived over I'm from Napa, so I have an affinity for Sonoma, but some of the Oregon they have amazing Pinot as well. So like up in Oregon uh region, they have great Pinot, but I love a good Russian river, Sonoma, uh Pinot, those are some of my favorites.
SPEAKER_02Mm-hmm. I see Pinot Noir from uh California, Soroma has a little bit more, how to say, like tropical character than the one from Burgundy. Or from that's very true. Yeah. So also I want you Of course, you you taste a lot of wine from Soroma. Pinot from Soroma.
SPEAKER_00So this is and this is I want to try more wine from other regions. This is one of my problems. I I'm spoiled. I came from a wine region, but I've been trying to learn wines from other regions, you know?
SPEAKER_02Yes. So I want to introduce you to the uh Pinot Noir from Anto Andige.
SPEAKER_03Okay, talk to me about it. Yes.
SPEAKER_02Oh it's nearby the Af uh mountain. So Cosy says all the flavor of the delicate red wine, but in the winemaking they put a lot of like up into it, so it's had like dark chocolate aroma. It put more deep into the flavor. It's really really lovely if you try. Maybe I can introduce you to that wine one day.
