For more than a month, lone women across the western stretches of Los Angeles had been beaten, robbed, and left on the pavement. The attacks came at night, the descriptions were hopelessly vague, and the two men behind it had vanished into the dark each time. Detectives Joe Friday and Ben Romero of the LAPD's Robbery Detail knew they had to stop waiting for a break and manufacture one. With four policewomen from the Juvenile Bureau and a special detail from the Metropolitan Division, they set up a sprawling decoy operation - marked bills, shoulder holsters hidden under street clothes, and patrol cars running silent through residential blocks.

The trap held for days without a bite. Then policewoman Nancy Short walked her assigned route on Willoughby and Hudson - and the attackers struck. The victim fought back. She tore a pocket off one assailant's coat and left Friday and Romero holding a driver's licence belonging to 18-year-old George Landon. From Landon's confession, the trail led to his accomplice, Tommy Decker - the one who brought the gun, stole the cars, and did the hitting. Friday and Romero tracked Decker to a garage on South Flower Street. What followed was a chase through the shop floor, a locked locker room, and a gun thrown out in surrender before Decker ran out of places to hide.

Episode Quotes

"To the police officer, the lowest thief and most cowardly is the purse snatcher who preys on women." - Sergeant Friday

"I didn't wanna do it. I didn't wanna do it anytime. He talked me into it." - George Landon

"18 years old. What's it prove? ... Sometimes you kinda wonder if it's true - there's no such thing as a bad boy." - Sergeant Friday

One year ago tonight, through the facilities of your local national broadcasting company station, we were privileged to enjoy your attention at the premier broadcast of a new series of authentic documented dramas entitled Dragnet. This evening, on the occasion of our first anniversary as weekly guests in your home, the cast, technicians, and producers of Dragnet, wish to state publicly that our indebtedness is enormous. For the degree of success which Dragnet has achieved during the past year, our first and greatest obligation is to you, our weekly listeners, for your support, for your many kind letters of encouragement, criticism, and appraisal. If Dragnet is a proven success, then you have made it so. Behind the scenes, we have many more people to thank. Our engineers, our sound technicians, our cast. To the radio editors and columnists across the nation, also, a sincere thank you for your judgment of our effort. Additionally, claims on our thanks are held by the Los Angeles Police Department, for the National Broadcasting Company, and the Liggetton Myers Tobacco Company, makers of Fatima cigarettes. To all of these, and to you, our gratitude. Here at the starting point of Dragnet's second year of broadcasting, our wish is twofold. First, that we may enjoy your continued support. Secondly, that we may deserve that support. Thank you.

SPEAKER_01

Only the names have been changed to protect the innocent. But cigareth, best of all, long cigareth, bring to dragnet.

SPEAKER_13

Scores of lone women have been beaten and robbed. The victims have been unable to identify the criminals. Your job. Get them. If you want a long cigarette, smoke the best of all long cigarettes. Smoke extra mild Fatima. Yes, Fatima is the king-sized cigarette which contains the finest Turkish and domestic tobaccos, superbly blended to make it extra mild. To give Fatima a much different, much better flavor and aroma than any other long cigarette. That's why Fatima has more than doubled its smokers coast to coast. Enjoy extra mild fatima yourself. Best of all, long cigarettes. It's wise to smoke extra mild Fatima.

SPEAKER_06

It's wise to smoke extra mild fatimas.

SPEAKER_01

Dragmasters is the documented drama of an actual crime. For the next 30 minutes, in cooperation with the Los Angeles Police Department, you will travel step by step on the side of the law through an actual case transcribed from official police files. From beginning to end, from crime to punishment, drag masters the story of your police force in action.

SPEAKER_13

It was mild in Los Angeles. We're working the night. Watch out a robbery detail. My partner's Ben Romero. The boss is Ed Walker, Captain of Robbery. My name's Friday. It was 9:27 p.m. when I left for Cone Brew took the sunset drive-in and got to our car. 80K. Anything, news? Oh, Captain Walker's wife had her baby. Boy, eight pounds. Oh, that's well, TRF. Yeah? So does the captain. I put the uniform on the wafer film. Good dress them up, don't they?

SPEAKER_03

Good evening.

SPEAKER_13

Hi, Davy.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, hello. Didn't recognize you. What do you have? The usual?

SPEAKER_13

No, I think I'll have something else to hamburger this kind.

SPEAKER_03

There's a man you'll see to show, I think.

SPEAKER_13

Thanks, D. I'm kind of nobody. Maybe I'll take the meager. Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_03

Well, if you are 18 West. Pod trim stud.

SPEAKER_13

What is that?

SPEAKER_03

Rusty.

SPEAKER_13

Oh, yeah. 35 cents.

SPEAKER_03

That's all this stuff I've been reading in the papers.

SPEAKER_12

What's that?

SPEAKER_03

A couple of guys going around snatching purses and beating up women. Paper said it's happened seven times in the last two weeks.

SPEAKER_12

Roads beat ninety cents.

SPEAKER_03

Roads they stood, too. Don't you know who's been doing it?

SPEAKER_13

No, not yet. What do you get from these liver and onions?

SPEAKER_03

Same as everything else. Soup, potatoes, and coffee.

SPEAKER_13

85 cents.

SPEAKER_03

How's it just take the perts? Why do they have to beat up the women?

SPEAKER_13

We don't know.

SPEAKER_03

Well, deadline staring me in the face every time I open a paper. I'm getting afraid to walk home at night.

SPEAKER_12

Do you get coffee and dessert with the Salisbury steak?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_12

Sixty five, huh?

SPEAKER_03

Sending your team. Roger on your call. Here, do you guys know what I've been talking about?

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, baby. We know. I'll take the Salisbury steak. Yeah, still alive.

SPEAKER_03

Hamburger special, don't you?

SPEAKER_13

Well done on mine, Clean.

SPEAKER_03

Burn. Okay. See a couple of minutes. Thanks.

SPEAKER_02

All units in the vicinity of 1016, Norris McKenzie. That's that's getting it. 484 PS is plugging. All units in the vicinity of 1016, Norris McKenzie. 484 P.S. do plug in close three. You won't have to take the call, K.

SPEAKER_12

Let her know we're going, too. So we're leaving. We'll be back. You know, I've been wondering if the hamburger and saladbury steak, what's the difference? Price.

SPEAKER_13

The police officer, the lowest chief, and most cowardly of the first natural phrase on women. For more than a month, flown women throughout the western section of the city had been robbed and beaten. The descriptions were confused and varied because the attacks took place at night. 1006 pm. We got to the location on North McKaddon where the woman was lying on the sidewalk. She's been sadly beaten about the face and neck, and her jaw had been broken. Officers Reed and Gell of Unit 61F were already there.

SPEAKER_12

Any witnesses officer?

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, this man in the sweater here saw it happened because the victim's name's Swanson. This Mr. Kahn. How do you do? Sergeant Romero, my name's Friday. I wonder if we could talk to you, please. Certainly. You want to come into the house? Right over here will be all right. That officer there said if you saw it happen. That's right. I was watching television. I heard the scream. I died. I looked out and saw these two men beating rough. Can you describe it? The life wasn't real good. They're about as tall as you two, but they had slighter build. How old were they, could you see them? I saw them knock her down. It was terrible. They hit her and then they kicked her. They picked up the first and and and and ran down that way. And you called the police?

SPEAKER_11

Yes, but not right away. I ran out and saw them get in their car across the street. They drove right past me. Then they turned each there on the main.

SPEAKER_13

Can you describe the car for? I got the license number for you. The last three numbers were 552. Just three numbers. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Can you describe the car? What kind was it? Well, I don't know. It was no, I think it was five. Maybe it's a dent. Well, was it a large car or a small? Oh, kind of medium. Did you notice the back of it? Yeah, that's where I saw the license face. No, I mean, did you notice anything about the car? Maybe a dent on a fender or a sticker on a window? I didn't look at the window. Did the car have a spotlight or a radio antenna? Well, I guess I didn't see it. I was trying to look at the license face. Did you notice anything unusual about this car? Any identifying marks at all? No, no, I didn't notice.

SPEAKER_12

How about the make of the car? Did you see what kind of what?

SPEAKER_11

No. The last three numbers on the license plate were 552. California license plate? Yes, it was.

SPEAKER_13

That should be enough here. Do you think he'll catch them tonight? Do you know how many plates m in 552? Well, Ben called in a general description of the car and the two attackers I talked to the other bystanders. I found out that the victim's name was Mrs. Frida K. Swanson, a widow. She had a room at 1003 North McCadden. None of the neighbors had seen the robbery or the beating take place. 1128 p.m. Ben and I arrived at Hollywood Receiving Hospital to interview Mr. Swanson, but she was unable to talk or to identify her attackers. She wrote on a piece of paper that she'd been slugged from behind and never got a good look at the man. Besides a broken jaw, she was suffering from a fractured wrist, a broken nose, and bruises about the face and body. Tuesday, July 2nd, the getaway car used in the attack on the previous night was found abandoned on Hollywood Boulevard and proved to be a stolen car. License number 6 Young 4552. The victim's empty purse was found inside. Routine investigation developed no lead. We met with Catherine Walker. Because the last four attacks had taken place within a six-block radius, we set up a flan of decoys in an attempt to trap the two purse matches. Four police women from juvenile bureau and a special detail from Metropolitan Division were assigned. Tuesday, 4 p.m., the special detail was ordered to the squad room for briefing.

SPEAKER_15

Hello, Dirk.

SPEAKER_13

Oh, hiya, Dorothy. Yeah, your feet.

SPEAKER_15

My feet, nothing the matter with them. You're a good dancer.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah, I bet I could use some lessons.

SPEAKER_15

Oh, you don't need lessons, Joe. You need practice.

SPEAKER_13

Okay, let's get started. I don't have to tell you the risks involved in an operation like this. I want all of you to know where everybody will be at any given time. By all of you, I mean the police women and also the men who'll be in the squad guard. If anybody misses anything, stop me. We don't have much of a description of the men we're after. There are two of them, both about 18 years old. Usually they wear sneakers, slacks, and fork coat. They've been in different kinds of cars, all of them colon. They keep each car for a few days and ditch it. Uh, hold on the map for me, Joe. Yes, sir.

SPEAKER_12

Now, here's the area here. Residential. 90% of the dwellings have garages, so if a car to fight on the street, it might be unusual.

SPEAKER_13

Each of you will be given a list of cars stolen in the last 48 hours, still outstanding. I want you to check all tight cars against the hot teeth. Oh, uh first, hold up your person, please. Young lady, that person's too small, I'm afraid. Let's make it look worthwhile.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, sir.

SPEAKER_13

All right. Before you leave, Sergeant Friday will pass out some marked bills I want you to carry. Okay, now police woman short. You aboard a West Sound Street car at Westing and Santa Monica Boulevard at uh at 9.03 p.m. Don't worry about beating scheduled the free charge. Get off at Lost Thomas at 9.13, walk south to Willoughby. Heading sound Willoughby to Hudson, and north one block to Romaine. You'll go west and Romain to Cointer, then we press your step to the starting point, and you're through. Got it? You'll be covered by Unit 81K. Yep.

SPEAKER_14

How fast, Miss Long should we walk?

SPEAKER_13

Oh, I'd say a pretty good pace. No woman likes to be alone on the streets at night, so it'll be natural.

SPEAKER_14

Yes, sir.

SPEAKER_13

Polite woman ball.

SPEAKER_10

Yes, sir.

SPEAKER_13

You aboard an East Sound bus at LeBray and Melrose at uh 9.35 C.M. Get off at Wilcox and Melrose at 9.45. Walk north on Wilcox to Waring, then west on Waring for two block, and north on Cherokee. Follow Cherokee for two block, turn east on Romaine. Follow Romaine to Cole, and turn north on Cole. When you get to Santa Monica Boulevard, refer to your steps to your starting point. You'll be covered by Unit 87, C.

SPEAKER_03

Will the car be cruising or will ready far?

SPEAKER_13

Go. Friday and Romero be cruising all the time. I'll get to the others when I finish with these instructions.

SPEAKER_14

Yes, it doesn't.

SPEAKER_13

Yeah?

SPEAKER_14

You said the two stars stacked were community?

SPEAKER_13

That's right.

SPEAKER_14

Send it pretty hard to hear him come up behind you.

SPEAKER_13

I'd think so.

SPEAKER_14

Did any of the victims kill them?

SPEAKER_13

They had, they wouldn't be victims. 9 p.m. The B Croy plan went into effect. We waited. Tuesday night passed. Nothing happened. Wednesday night, nothing. Thursday, July 4th, the B C Prey plan was enlarged to include a larger area, but everything was quiet. Friday, July 5th, Captain Waffe decided that the new flam covering an area from La Brea to Vine Street and from sunset to Beverly would be kept in operation. 1045 p.m. Ben and I cruised the exposed area.

SPEAKER_12

We've been thinking about moving to a new parade. Yeah? Only trouble is we don't know what's gonna happen.

SPEAKER_13

You mean if rent control goes off?

SPEAKER_12

Yeah.

SPEAKER_13

We don't know if rents will go off or it matters. You've got to leave them, man.

SPEAKER_02

171 C Son and Marathology are a five old step, Cody.

SPEAKER_13

We don't know what to do. We didn't toss a coin to the tide. Well, that's about as good a way as any. Coin came up sales four times in a row. Yes. Wife changed your mind on each toss, notice agents.

SPEAKER_02

Roger 71R.

SPEAKER_13

Not a police woman down there. Yeah. Nancy Stewart. You got her out there? Uh Howford on Hudson, East on No Rose, then up Wilcoch to sunset.

SPEAKER_02

All units, Willoughby and Hudson's 484B Air King's Loggins, those three.

SPEAKER_11

Besides, let's roll on it.

SPEAKER_02

Three half, Willoughby and Hugton. 484B as he plugins, those three.

SPEAKER_13

Looked out at the fortune and saw a woman sitting on the grass with a few people around. She was a young woman, about 25. Her clothes had been torn, and there was a red weld on her right step phone. She was trying to get to her feet as we came up.

SPEAKER_12

There'll be an ambulance here in a few minutes, miss. Can you tell us how it happened? Did you see who attacked me?

SPEAKER_04

Yes, I did. I can carry about him. Look, here I ripped off one of the pocket. Card saw.

SPEAKER_13

Driver's license. Your landing.

SPEAKER_04

Here's a piece of cloth I tore off of socket.

SPEAKER_13

I'll take that bell. Thank you. Do you want to stay with her? See if I can get a make on this license. Okay.

SPEAKER_12

Uh, would you give me the name, please?

SPEAKER_04

Barbara could have lesballed long hunt.

SPEAKER_13

80K to control one. 80K to control one.

SPEAKER_02

Go ahead, it gets.

SPEAKER_13

Text utspect for making warrants. George Landon, male. White, age 18, 5 feet 9 inches, 155 pounds, blue eyes, black hair. Address 27, 22 and a half, Arthur Avenue. Gam A367.

SPEAKER_02

Sag you're a test.

SPEAKER_04

I thought it was.

SPEAKER_12

Did you see that car?

SPEAKER_04

Yes, I saw a white sidewall tire with Crub's coat. Hard if he's a license player. I couldn't make it out.

SPEAKER_12

What color was it, Chris?

SPEAKER_04

I don't know. God breeze, I think. I'm mad at the boy. Well, you got the driver's lighting. We'd crawl there.

SPEAKER_12

Well, that's just for one of them, Vince. She said there were two men.

SPEAKER_04

I don't know. I grabbed one of their coats and the other one hit and stick. The thing I'm so mad about is I tried to frame and nothing had come out.

SPEAKER_13

I understand. All right. Hi. You miss 53F. We got the call. That's fine. This is the victim, Miss Curtis. If you'll handle the report and see that she gets home, we got a lead to check out. Okay. Thank you.

SPEAKER_03

Roll one. 80K.

SPEAKER_13

Don't you call back, Jill? You better get it. Come on.

SPEAKER_11

Clark went to the first.

SPEAKER_13

80K to control one. Go ahead.

SPEAKER_02

80K. Suspect has misdemeanor and so any record. One arrest, suspicion of robbery, and one arrest, GTA. No wants at this time. Most recent address on suspects. 27, 22, and one-half, Arthur Avenue.

SPEAKER_13

Roger, been in trouble before. Fellon in misdemeanor. Yeah. Any address, Manchie. Maybe this clock does.

SPEAKER_01

You are listening to Drag Method, the case history of a police investigation presented in the public interest by Fatima cigarettes. If you smoke a long cigarette, it will be in your interest to listen to a typical case history of a Fatima smoker. It's the case of beautiful aviatrix Bab Beckwith, one of the few women who holds the commercial instructor's rating for single-engine land and sea aircraft. This is her actual signed statement.

SPEAKER_06

I've been smoking long cigarettes for quite some time. Recently a friend told me about a really mild king-size cigarette, fatima. I'm very glad I tried them. The kings are a lot milder than any of the others I've smoked and have a much better flavor. I agree. It's wise to smoke extra mild fatima.

SPEAKER_13

And so do more and more smokers every day. Actual figures show extra mild fatima is more than doubled if smokers coast to coast. So enjoy extra mild fatima yourself. The king-size cigarette, which contains the finest Turkish and domestic tobaccos, superbly blended to make it extra mild.

SPEAKER_01

You will prefer Fatima's much different, much fetter flavor. You will agree. It's wise to smoke extra mild fatima.

SPEAKER_06

It's wise to smoke extra mild fatima.

SPEAKER_01

The best of all long cigarettes.

SPEAKER_13

Friday, 11 p.m., Fenn and I drove to 27, 22 and a half Arthur Avenue, with a small house at the rear of a lot on the east end of town. Alongside the front house, there was a narrow passageway leading to the house in the back with a small lawn between the two, with no alley. Anybody leading from the front or back door had to go through the narrow passage. As we approached the house, a light was on in the front room, and through the window we could see a middle-aged woman reading a magazine. We rang the bell.

SPEAKER_05

Why, yes, he can. And his aunt, Miss Landon. What do you want?

SPEAKER_13

Can we come in? Thank you, huh? Is George Landon at home now?

SPEAKER_05

No, he isn't, but I think he'll be home soon. He never stays out late. He uh isn't in any trouble, really.

SPEAKER_13

You know where he is?

SPEAKER_05

With his friend. He's a popular boy. He really should be home soon.

SPEAKER_13

Where has he been, Miss Landon?

SPEAKER_05

I don't know. He goes out at night to know with his friend.

SPEAKER_13

Who are they?

SPEAKER_05

Well, I really don't know. You see, it's difficult to keep track of a young boy. He's a big boy and he's full of itality. He has to find things to do. Yes, ma'am. He lives here with me. I'm a dad. I'm not married, so I take care of him. He's a parent that died when he was a baby. I see.

SPEAKER_13

Does George work or does he go to school?

SPEAKER_05

Oh he's any school. You aren't here about that automobile that was going a year ago, are you?

SPEAKER_13

No, ma'am.

SPEAKER_05

He had some trouble then. I'm sure he didn't do it. Since then he's been very good. He hasn't missed a day's work and he goes to church with me anytime I ask him.

SPEAKER_12

Where does he spend his evenings, do you know?

SPEAKER_05

Well, I told you with his friend. The young man has to use up his energy. I don't try to hold him too tightly, a good boy like him.

SPEAKER_13

Can we look at his room?

SPEAKER_05

Oh, yeah. It's right here. I showed you how he music. Isn't that nice?

SPEAKER_12

Yes, ma'am.

SPEAKER_05

I'm not trying to descend him. I'm only telling you about him. He keeps his room cleaned up in the cell. He smoked a bit little, but I've never smelled a drop of liquor on his thread. He's a very good boy.

SPEAKER_13

Yes, sir.

SPEAKER_05

He even reads a lot. You can see he's looking over again.

SPEAKER_13

Yes, sir. Do you mind if we look around a little bit?

SPEAKER_05

No. No, that's all right. I should be home soon. He's happy at a movie. Do you want to wait for him?

SPEAKER_13

No, it won't be necessary.

SPEAKER_05

He's always home by midnight. I'll tell him you're here. Oh God Nossity George now. George?

SPEAKER_09

Yeah?

SPEAKER_05

Even then would like to talk to you. The police officer.

SPEAKER_13

All right, take it easy, young fellow. Hold him, send him around. I don't stand filled, young fellow. It's no good.

SPEAKER_07

What do you guys think you're doing? I didn't do anything.

SPEAKER_13

I was just out for a ride. Is this your nephew?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah.

SPEAKER_13

Coach doing Joe, Bothy Ritco. Is this your driver's license here, George? Yeah. I lost it. When? Last week? It was found tonight. So what? How'd you tell your coat? Getting out of the car the other night? Here's a piece of cloth. The girl who was attacked tonight gave it to us. It matches the tear there in your coat.

SPEAKER_05

What have you done, George?

SPEAKER_13

Tell her.

SPEAKER_07

I didn't want to do it. I didn't want to do it anytime. He talked me into it.

SPEAKER_13

Fruit talks into it.

SPEAKER_07

He made me do it. He's got a gun and he stole the cards. He made all the plans.

SPEAKER_13

Who made all the plans?

SPEAKER_07

Tommy. Oh, we never did anything. He's got to hang out at the drugstore until that time a year ago.

SPEAKER_12

What's his last name? He said that it'd always be held against me, and I better go along with him. Tommy who? Decker. Was he with you tonight?

SPEAKER_07

Yeah, he's the one that hit her when she grabbed hold of me. He's the one that always hit him. I never wanted him to do it.

SPEAKER_12

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_13

Where's the stuff you took out of that purse? Oh, Tommy's gonna hide it. Where? Back of where he worked? Where's that? Oh, garage someplace. I don't know where. He just started working there. Where does he live? Place on West 6. I never been there. What does this Decker look like? Same age I am, but about an inch taller and must be 15 pounds heavier. He's got dark hair. How's he dressed? Just like me. Sneakers and bronze flax and a tan sport coat. Better call the office, Pip. Yeah. Can I use your telephone now?

SPEAKER_05

Oh, it's it's in the hall behind the door.

SPEAKER_13

Thank you said Decker's got a gun? Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Officer, will you tell me the truth?

SPEAKER_13

I'll try, ma'am.

SPEAKER_05

Are George and this Tommy Decker the two men the paper you've been riding about?

SPEAKER_13

I'm afraid so.

SPEAKER_05

The ones who've been robbing the women?

SPEAKER_13

Yes, ma'am.

SPEAKER_05

And beating them up?

SPEAKER_13

Yes.

SPEAKER_05

I didn't mean it. I didn't know what I was doing. I raised you, George. I didn't either.

SPEAKER_13

11:42 p.m. We checked into the office with the 18-year-old suspect, George Landon. While Ben and the fleet stenographer took down the statement, I went down to RI and pulled the factories on the other suspect, Thomas Decker. His marma sheets showed a petition had been filed on 459 PC and 488 PC. They also showed three different recent addresses for Decker. One on West 6th Street, one on South Mariposa, and a third on North Catalina. Two units were dispatched to the first two addresses. Ben and I went to the address on North Catalina, Rooming House. We learned from Decker's landlady that he was working as an affrontist mechanic on the swing shift at a large garage on South Plower Street. At 12 51 a.m., Ben and I arrived at the garage.

SPEAKER_12

I beg you for it.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah.

SPEAKER_12

Police Sir Thomas Decker worked here.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, he was here.

SPEAKER_13

Thank you. You Thomas Decker? Yeah? Police officers like talking to you.

SPEAKER_08

Watch a joke. Take him. He's gone in the locker room. All right. Hey, hello. Stop over there. In the other way, I'm gonna block a room.

SPEAKER_09

Come on, Ben.

SPEAKER_12

Same from behind that cover.

SPEAKER_08

All right, men, give us that go. We're gonna go now. Run out. Right now, come on out. Head behind your head.

SPEAKER_13

All right, turn around.

SPEAKER_08

Head off downstairs. No. Let me go.

SPEAKER_13

Fight up the scuffs on him, Ben. Yeah. Eighteen years old. What's it for? I don't know. Sometimes you kind of wonder if it's true. But uh there's no such thing as a bad boy. The story you have just heard was true.

SPEAKER_01

Only the names have been changed to protect free innocent. On November 1st, trial was held in Superior Court, Department 82, City and County of Los Angeles, State of California. In a moment, the results of that trial.

SPEAKER_13

It's amazing how many long cigarette smokers are changing to extra mild Fatima. Here is the actual report. From coast to coast, extra mild Fatima has more than doubled its smokers.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, more and more smokers every day are discovering that Fatima is the king-size cigarette that is extra mild.

SPEAKER_13

Extra mild because it contains the finest Turkish and domestic tobacco, superbly blended to make it extra mild, to give it a much different, much better flavor and aroma.

SPEAKER_01

Enjoy extra mild fatima yourself. Best of all long cigarette. It's wise to smoke extra mild fatima.

SPEAKER_06

It's wise to smoke extra mild fatima.

SPEAKER_01

Thomas Decker and George Lendon were tried and convicted on five counts of grand theft person, five counts of grand theft auto, and five counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm. They were sentenced to the state penitentiary fourth term as prescribed by law and are now serving their sentence.

As chief of fleet of the city of Los Angeles, I wish to extend my heartiest congratulations to the program Dragnet on the occasion of its first anniversary. The overwhelming success of this program, as indicated by the hundred of commendatory letters, telegram, and personal comment, I see you has been due to the splendid job of portraying police officers and their work. The American public, by its enthusiastic acceptance of Dragonhead, has indicated a desire for a factual police program. The Los Angeles Fruit Department is proud to contribute to the constructive entertainment of both adults and children through this medium. May I send my best witches to the National Broadcasting Company, the refronter, the actor, the writer, and the producer of Dragnet. And I trust there will be many more years of continued success for this program.
