SPEAKER_02

Welcome to the Andy Meadows Show. We've got a good roundtable coming up where we'll discuss selling Trump's post, the bison attack, the end of stick shifts, diapers at concerts, firing squads, and more. But first, your headlines. The U.S. and Iran continued to exchange strikes. Yesterday, Iran fired at the U.S. military in Kuwait, and U.S. forces targeted Iranian sites for the eighth night in a row, but don't worry, financial markets open up tomorrow, so I'm sure we'll have another pretend ceasefire. We now know who to blame for giving everyone explosive diarrhea recently. Taylor Farms recalled lettuce had shipped to 27 states a day after it was reported that iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms sold to Taco Bell locations was linked to the cyclosporiasis outbreak. Luckily, I'm a Romaine guy and I stopped eating at Taco Bell three colonoscopies ago, so I'm good. Manosphere douchebags, the Tate brothers, were arrested in Miami after new rape charges emerged in the UK. Andrew and his brother Tristan were detained Saturday and charged with three new offenses. Cue the Trump pardon in 3-2-1. I'm not wearing a watch. Forgot to wear a watch. The World Cup comes to a close today with Spain taking on Argentina, Messi, and the refs in the finals. Now that the World Cup is over, we can all go back to ignoring soccer for another four years. If you want to weigh in on anything we talk about, comment on whichever platform you see this, or head to AndyMedoShow.com to record your audio. Either way, we're likely to include your thoughts on an upcoming episode. Please welcome man who didn't catch explosive diarrhea because he avoids talents at all costs anyway. My little brother Chris Meadows.

SPEAKER_01

Dude, I saw the headline that was like Taco Bell causes explosive diarrhea. And I was like, yeah, I mean, I thought that was a feature.

SPEAKER_02

Man, I was so when I hit I probably stopped Taco Bell at like 30.

SPEAKER_01

Definitely post. Oh, dude, I that's still my I I don't do a whole lot of fast food places, but I'll still hit up Taco Bell.

SPEAKER_02

I loved it as a kid, as you know. That was one of my go-to. I probably ate Taco Bell every other day.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think at one point we had trade for Taco Bell, and it was the That was the worst.

SPEAKER_02

Best. The best. I mean, it tastes amazing. If I would I would still enjoy it if I went just not within 30 minutes afterwards. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I mean, it doesn't this wasn't what how did people even notice? Well, that's Taco Bell's supposed to mention.

SPEAKER_02

The tough part is I feel bad for Taco Bell because they're it's kind of like they're getting singled out. It was a supplier of theirs. I mean, it's not like they did anything wrong.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and I'm pretty sure Taco Bell doesn't have the capacity at their stores to lab test their lettuce. That's not their responsibility.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

That's why I think it's kind of I liked that people were calling it Trumperia. Like, I don't even know how he could be responsible for this, but okay, I'm on board.

SPEAKER_02

That's one of the downsides of being president, man. I read, I don't know if this is true, because so don't fact check me on, or someone will fact-check me on this, but I there was somewhere that showed that Taylor Farms' owner is a donor to his, but you know, donor could mean 10 bucks.

SPEAKER_01

And again, why why would it how would those two things? It's just like Biden didn't control the gas prices as we're seeing now.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, no kidding. Uh what do you think's more insane that true social selling early access to Trump's market-moving tweets or Mitch McConnell's rigor tortoise scandal?

SPEAKER_01

I mean, dude, though I'm not surprised about the Trump social, you know, true social thing. That seems on brand for him. But I am a little shocked that they're like, oh yeah, we can just weekend at Bernie's this senator for as long as we want, and it's fine. Like, it seems like, oh, here's a photo of him without he I like how he's got a paper in that photo that they released. Like, like it's a proof of life, like, oh, this is this is clearly couldn't possibly be photoshopped. I don't know. You don't trust pictures anymore. You can't even trust videos anymore.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and it did make for some awesome AI videos that people did out of it with him dancing and doing all the but they're trying to, it's uh because they have such a razor-thin margin, they're trying to keep him around for a procedural vote or something, which I mean it's just all ridiculous, but and then Trump did, I guess it was is it truth out?

SPEAKER_01

Is that how if he's if he's tweeting from on his his on his truth program? Is it a truth? It is okay. So he truthed out that he thought that Lindsey Graham's sister should take his spot because he loved her. Like that's that's all it takes to get yourself into the Senate nowadays? Well, it's a short minute to because the I I get like it it's terrible when somebody passes away, but it's also awful for a senator, a sitting senator like that, because they're honoring him, but immediately also going, what are we gonna do about his, you know, we're gonna fill this vacancy right now, right? Yeah. Wait a week, man. Come on.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and it's a short window because there's a yeah, I think uh they'll have a special election in November, so she just fills a seat for a real you know, couple months. But uh, but the selling the truth, uh early access to the truth, I mean, that's we're definitely we've entered the no uh no point in hiding it phase of the corruption where there's just like right.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, you figure at some point something was gonna like blow up enough that it'd be like, all right, we need to stop this. But they're like clearly this doesn't matter. We'll just get it. I I saw a story this week that the guy that runs Trump's teleprompter was betting on the prediction markets about what was gonna be in Trump's speeches.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but my deal on that was a hundred grand. Dude, if you're gonna I mean you gotta go all in. Number one, it's the small fry that gets popped. You gotta win enough to where you can buy a pardon.

SPEAKER_01

You need that number to be substantially higher than well. I mean, I imagine that all of these things were things he was gonna say. Like, if if the guy had set something up where he was gonna say some really bizarre word, then like put that into the teleprompter and then bet on that.

SPEAKER_02

That's how you win the big money. Put something really silly in there.

SPEAKER_01

I got I want to hear Trump try to pronounce onomonopoeia or something. Come on.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and that's the other, it it literally is a gamble because he goes off prompter so much. Oh, true, yeah. You know, so you could have put a bunch of money on something and then he just decides to rant about Arnold Palmer's wang for but I feel like when he rants, he comes back, you know.

SPEAKER_01

He goes off script and then he comes back to reading again. So you're you're pretty safe. It's the weave. Our uh That's a lot of noises. You just you're just playing noises.

SPEAKER_02

Our top comment for the week. Uh the clip of us talking about airplane exiting etiquette, uh, where we both advocated for waiting your turn, generated some pretty angry comments from people. They were all basically I'll show I'll show them to you, but they're all basically talking about how I have a connecting flight, I'm gonna do blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.

SPEAKER_01

Whatever I want. Hold on. Um and see, that's the problem with people today is that they don't exercise decorum. It's all about me and what I'm saying. What are they gonna what are they gonna do with your blocking procedure? When they're like, I have a connecting flight, I have to run up here and get it. Ooh, you're doing a little picture in picture and picture in picture thing.

SPEAKER_02

Oops, share the wrong screen.

SPEAKER_01

Freaking me out. That's freaking me out, man.

SPEAKER_02

That's what happens when you share the wrong screen. That's really scary. No, what they're doing. Yeah, so if you're blocking the aisle, they're they're gonna do a whole lot of nothing. Yeah, only tested it once, but it worked like a charm. But uh, yeah, so here's everyone's saying, you know, it all if I gotta be somewhere, I'm gonna make in that quick dash to advance a couple rows as everyone's getting up. And uh if I have a tight connection, I'm doing whatever it takes to get off the plane first. I'm not gonna wait for grandma and grandpa to dilly-dally. That's a lot of hate. I mean, I'm calling BS because it's like at this point, it's like 20 or 30% of the plane doing it. Not that many people have have uh A connecting flights that have like a real tight window where you need to like Especially if you're if your plan's landed on time.

SPEAKER_01

You know what I'm saying? Like if your plan's delayed by a bunch, okay, maybe there's more people on a tight connection then. But when I've been on those planes, the stewardess is like, hang on, there's a few people we're gonna let up front. So stay seated until we get those people up front. This the the flight crew handles people with tight connections. So yeah, you're our BSing.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, a hundred percent. And I've we've all heard that when we're all on a plane where they say, hey, we have a couple people that have a really tight connection.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

That's how you handle it. Not taking this into your own hands and darting in front of the plane.

SPEAKER_01

I would have given more sympathy to one of these people if they were like, look, I just ate Taco Bell and I gotta get to the bathroom. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not doing that in an airplane bathroom. I've got to that'll ruin the next three flights for people. No, but the by far the best comment's gotta go to Rob Johnson 09. This is when we're talking about lazy killers, about the killer that just threw somebody in a dump. Right, a dumpster. Dumpster, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh no, it was the dump. And I was advocating for the dumpster. I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

But he said, if I get killed and there's no video on YouTube or TV episode to tell the story, then it's double murder. Like at least give people close to me the chance to lie about how good of a person I was and how they all loved me. I like that. I like that guy.

SPEAKER_01

We can be friends with him. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Or probably just some guy that stumbled upon our comment.

SPEAKER_01

Fan. We have a fan. Which I'm sorry that we missed the last few episodes. That was uh unavoidable.

unknown

Yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

How was your trips? Hot and and and I still got bug bites all over me. That's that's you know. It was definitely 95 degrees and humid most of the time.

SPEAKER_02

So it's uh Texas and Louisiana.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know what I was expecting. The heat kicked on here yesterday morning, and Stacy's like, it's July and the heat is on. Like, oh yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, it's it's been the brutal heat where you don't even want to go outside for a couple weeks. The uh man, have you seen so there have been a lot of uh animal attacks recently. So there was a hiker that was killed by an alligator in Florida, and uh that one was gruesome. And uh do you see the water?

SPEAKER_01

What's weird when you say that is when I think of hiking, I think of going up into the hills. So you're like, this guy's hiking up into the hill. How did a gate was there a gator sitting on top of the mountain? No, it's a Florida.

SPEAKER_02

They're in the mountains now. No, it was uh I'm sure they were like it was a hiker. They were taking a break probably in the in the water. She was in three feet of water as a female. Three feet of water when it got her.

SPEAKER_01

Dude, yeah, I don't know that I'd be hanging out in swamp water.

SPEAKER_02

Did you see the uh the man at Yellowstone that was launched by the bison? Yes, I think I did see that video. Okay, I gotta show it to you. I gotta show it. End over end. It's uh pretty remarkable. Why is it not letting me share this? There we go. There we go.

SPEAKER_01

No sound, but yikes boom.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I saw that at a rodeo once when it was a clown going up in the air like that.

SPEAKER_02

That is uh Yeah, that's kind of what it reminded me of when I saw it. But usually in these uh Animal versus Tourist, I'm on the side of the animal. But this guy didn't really do anything wrong. They were a good distance from it.

SPEAKER_01

Right, and it was like it looked like that was a parking lot with picnic tables and stuff, so it wasn't like he was out in the field and trying to mess with the bison. The bison came to him.

SPEAKER_02

When they're getting right up next to him to take a selfie. Plus, he was trying to redirect it away from his grandkid. So he took the brunt of it, but he lived, at least. He's fine.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, he gave several broken things, but I saw an interesting wild animal in my neighbor's yard this week. I'm still trying to figure it out. I think it was a mink. Because it was ferret-shaped but larger, and it wasn't a ferret. It was like, you know, four feet long or so and fatter, and it was slinking across the yard. I got a picture, but it's kind of grainy. It's like a Bigfoot picture because I was like, oh crap, what is that? But yeah, I'm pretty sure it was a mink. I don't think they're gonna mess mess you up though.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, the that's like when I got that bobcat picture. I mean, you never can get the great pick of it. Because you see it and they're so elusive and get away so quickly. It's always a crappy, grainy picture. Here in uh Frisco, there's another I saw somebody share on social media they had uh bobcat babies in their backyard.

SPEAKER_01

Ooh, talk about something you don't want to mess with, or maybe you do, you get like a whole like you get a couple of them and they just walk with you because you're their dad now. Like Tyson back when he had lions.

SPEAKER_02

Pretty sure it's uh not the easiest process to uh I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

But if you're gonna do it, do it from from early on. So is your theory that there are more animal attacks now, or just more people always have cameras on them?

SPEAKER_02

I think uh it's uh I think there's a few more just because we're infringing more because of the population. Thanks, Trump. Growth. No, I mean just everywhere. Like uh the the weirdest one I saw was that I get all these in my feed because I'm super interested in animal attacks.

SPEAKER_01

I know I even saw Curious George on your feed there, so it was it's monkeys and then more monkeys.

SPEAKER_02

But the this one was real so the same wild elephant has killed four members of one family in Nepal over 14 years. They have a good memory, so one of them had to mess with them. That's what I'm saying. What did they do to that? Because so this dude it had killed some of his family, and he crossed two rivers and moved several miles away, and 14 years later, the same elephant shows up, bursts through the wall, Kool-Aid man style, and kills more people in his family.

SPEAKER_01

Man, yeah, because they always say like elephants will go back and visit the bones of their relatives, like they they remember stuff. So somebody at one point slapped that elephant, and he's like, no.

SPEAKER_02

And don't they don't they like to be like a hundred or something?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah. So that guy, and like maybe he's completely extinguished that family tree now. But if not, I would definitely like moving out of Nepal.

SPEAKER_02

There's the one dude, yeah. I'm getting out of the pole. Goes several countries over and he shows up.

SPEAKER_00

Good God.

SPEAKER_01

What's on your your uh visa application? I need to get away from an elephant.

SPEAKER_02

They man, and those things seem they seem docile when you see them uh sometimes, but man, once they go on a rampage, they're freaking brutal.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, I mean it's like a school bus on feet, so yeah. Just one little step.

SPEAKER_02

Right, and they they'll crush people with their heads. It's freaking super gross. Or they just use their way. But yeah, there was one that uh this was ten or fifteen years back that just went rampaging through a town and messed up and hurt several people just because it was super pissed off.

SPEAKER_01

When they're breaking out of a circus, I'm like Yeah, yeah, you you can't feel bad for for ones that have been Yeah. Yeah. Um plus we don't know the whole story. There's definitely something that that family line did to either him or maybe maybe it killed his brother, and he's like, okay, you know. He's avenging. Maybe it wasn't necessarily directly to him. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I think we make the movie, and we definitely make it from the side of the elephant.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. The elephant is John Wick, and they killed his dog.

SPEAKER_02

They say we're nearing the end of manual transmissions, which is kind of sad to see.

SPEAKER_01

I don't I don't buy that. I think with enthusiast cars, they're gonna continue. They kind of like they've established because Porsche wanted to get away from the manual transmission. They stopped, they were like, okay, we're gonna stop putting them in. And then they had one special model they released that was okay, this is the last stick shift, and that one was immediately selling for triple what the sticker was. So they're like, okay, maybe we're wrong about this. So they went back the other way, and now half their cars you can get manual are are are selling as manuals. Ferrari famously completely went away from them, and now like a couple weeks ago, they're releasing a new manual transmission car finally, because they're it was like all of their older cars that were stick shift were selling for huge dollars, and then their newer ones are not moving near as fast or not holding, but people still want those manuals. So I think, yeah, you're not gonna see a whole lot of commuter manuals anymore, but I think enthusiast manuals will still be going.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, the sports cars, because that's the only that's the only situation where you really want one is a sports car.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you even I think even in Europe they're doing away with them for the most part. You before that was the most common transmission was the manual. I think most people are doing autos now. Like when I rented in Ireland, the manual transmission was way cheaper to rent than the auto. And then we went to Germany three or four years later, and they said they were gonna give me a manual, they didn't even have them. They're like, I just take the autos.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah, that's the only time I'll get one is when it's saves me some dough. Yeah. On the rental because nobody knows how to drive them anymore. What car did you learn to drive stick on?

SPEAKER_01

Honestly, it's probably a three-on-the-tree old Ford pickup truck that dad had.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that white pickup. That's what I learned. Yeah, the the column one. Which those were tougher. And that clutch wasn't really.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I mean, if you can drive that, you can drive any of them probably, so yeah.

SPEAKER_02

That that thing was amazing because it had a remember I had that uh what do you call them? What's it called? I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I can't your video's not going right now.

SPEAKER_02

A grill guard? I had a remember I had that grill guard, so you could basically it's a great car to teach sons to drive on because it doesn't really matter if you run it with that grill guard. And that thing was beat up. He probably sold it for a hundred bucks when when he sold it.

SPEAKER_01

I think he sold it, yeah, he was asking like 750 and sold it for $75 or something.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Noah Kahn urged his fans to stop pooping themselves at shows. Did you see that?

SPEAKER_01

That is that has been a thing. Like it was Olivia Rodrigo, I think, said she could smell the front row when she was singing. Like I I feel like if that's the case, you gotta push that fence back, you know. Nobody get to be right down front.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so apparently it's a thing. It uh people are wearing adult diapers at concerts so they don't lose their spot.

SPEAKER_01

I guess I mean how how good is the concert that you're like, I'm gonna poop myself to stand here. Well and everybody else around you, like, hmm.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Is that a pat I mean you're definitely going to con you're not going to concerts alone. So there's like the whole both of the couple that goes together, like we're in this together.

SPEAKER_01

I'm assuming you've got to coordinate your pooping yourself. You're like, okay, we're gonna do this now because I don't want to stand next to you and smell yours unless you haven't to smell mine.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and you definitely don't go in a group and you're and not tell your group that this is gonna happen. Yeah, that's I knew they did it. I've heard for years they do it in New York City at New Year's Eve, because you know how you'll see the crowd shots and it's like Oh yeah, I've heard there's there's zero porta potties or anything.

SPEAKER_01

There's no way to use the bathroom down there.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and if you well, the big thing is if you do, then you you definitely lose your spot if you're close to the stage and you're waiting to see Mariah Carey come out and you know, ruin a number or whatever. But the uh I didn't know people were doing it at just concerts now. That's insane. I say give them their own poop yourself section and have like the pens sponsor it.

SPEAKER_01

Let's let's monetize this weird get some sort of air circulation system that just goes inside that area, you're all gonna stew in your own poo, but you get to Be close to the stage kind of thing.

SPEAKER_02

And that's the way that way it doesn't, you know, everyone else doesn't have to deal with it. So Idaho's bringing back firing squads as their primary method of execution.

SPEAKER_01

Whoa.

SPEAKER_02

Is it cheaper than than the is it cheap? Is it cheaper than lethal injection? Is that why they're doing it? I have no freaking clue.

SPEAKER_01

How could it be? I mean, I'm yes, I am sure that a bullet is cheaper than medicine because of course it is. But psychologically, those dudes have murdered people now. Is it one guy shooting them, or do they do the traditional, like, you don't know who's got real bullets and who's got blanks in the gun thing?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I I think they use multiple people anyway, just to make sure it's a it's a you know for sure thing. You know what's cheaper than any of that? A rope.

SPEAKER_01

Why don't they just do the hanging thing?

SPEAKER_02

Because that's even uh that's a brutal one. I think everyone but there are states that offer it, but not as the primary method.

SPEAKER_01

Because I think I like that there's a menu. Look, you're gonna die, but how would you like to?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, which one would you if you were on death row, which one would you go with if they were all on the table?

SPEAKER_01

Um old age would be my first choice if that was an option. And then probably some sort of OD. You know, not the drug that puts you immediately to sleep, one that lets me have some fun first.

SPEAKER_02

I'm going old school. I'm going electric chair. Because I want that cool moment where the lights dim throughout the whole prison and everybody knows. Oh, they're good.

SPEAKER_01

And then some guy in the back has to flip on a separate thing and get more power going.

SPEAKER_02

We probably should have had this on from before, but although the electric chair, if it doesn't take and they gotta do it a couple times. Although I'm I'm frail enough, I'm pretty sure it would it would get me on the first first go. Have you seen the uh have you seen the F This House guy on social media? I have not, no. Maybe he should so he's a DIY homeowner who complains about the fixer upper he bought. Gotcha. Okay. His name is Derek Cahill. And he lives in Dallas, by the way. That may be why I I got him on my feed. But Jill loves his content because uh when she worked renovating homes, they always complained about DIY homeowners.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they're the the previous stuff that was done to the house that was weirdly weird.

SPEAKER_02

But but this guy's really funny because he's got a pool that he in every single thing in the house he documents just him complaining as he as he does it. But you gotta check him out. He's pretty funny. Did we talk about this last time?

SPEAKER_01

Do what? I don't know if we talked about that last time or if we talked about that in person.

SPEAKER_02

No, the uh did we talk about any shark tank ideas that you have to make us rich?

SPEAKER_01

Hmm. No, but you probably would have to come back to me on that one because I I can't think on my feet this morning about shark tank ideas to make us rich.

SPEAKER_02

Mine's Mandels, scented candle company that's just a knockoff of the Southern Gentleman candles. So basically we just steal their idea with a different name. And slightly different. We change up the scents a little bit. Mandels better name, isn't it?

SPEAKER_01

Mandels. And you're just gonna none of none of the flowery scents, you're just gonna have it smell like tar and man stuff.

SPEAKER_02

But these actually smell motor oil. They smell manly, but they smell good. Oh, time for our anonymous question. Megan in Arizona asks, I've been married for a little over a year now and everything's going great, but I grew up with sisters and I had no idea how guys were this gassy. Every night after dinner, my husband tortures me with room-clearing farts for the remainder of the evening. Is this normal and how do I address this?

SPEAKER_01

Uh, I would say it's not normal in my experience. That is unusual. And I would think that if it's that bad, maybe some medication would be in order. A gas X or something like that? Is there Yeah?

SPEAKER_02

I don't I don't think that's normal.

SPEAKER_01

That sounds definitely sounds like a digestive issue where if it's if it's or the question is what are you feeding them? Maybe look at your normally I would suggest roughage, but lately that's off the table.

SPEAKER_02

So that's definitely not the time. And some people roughage makes it makes it worse. You know, so who knows?

SPEAKER_01

But but definitely not normal. How do you deal with it? You tell them, listen, I need to find you attractive. That's a that's a rule. So if you want me to find you attractive, stop doing this. Step outside and let it go.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, hard to do after you've been lighting it up for the several hours. I got two words for Megan. Fart walks. After dinner, suggest a nice stroll. And make sure you're a few steps in front of him. Right. Yeah, make sure you're in front. But this will help him get all the farts out. Plus, it's a great way to walk off dessert. That's a thing, man. People do fart walks. After dinner to get them off.

SPEAKER_01

Are you sure I think this is I've never heard of this before. I've never heard of fart walking.

SPEAKER_02

I don't know if everybody calls him that. But it's definitely a thing that people do to get the farts out. That way his that way he can ruin the night for the whole neighborhood instead of just you.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, you're gonna have the the one of the dogs that lives in its yards and be like, oh crap, this guy again.

SPEAKER_02

And what kind of guy with this bad of gas doesn't get a dog so he can at least try to pass it off.

SPEAKER_01

But what we're all agreeing on here, Megan, is no, it's not normal. It's not a usual activity that is enjoyed by all.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, especially every night.

SPEAKER_01

Don't lump us all in together. This is not a man thing. This is a your man thing, and he's gross.

SPEAKER_02

Rex, any uh Rex plans?

SPEAKER_01

Um Yeah, yeah. Um, I went to the movie theater yesterday for the first time in a very long time to see the Odyssey. Nice, and it is terrible. Do not do it. No, I'm kidding, it's great. Uh it's Christopher Nolan. It's it's fantastic. Like the one thing that we went to the IMAX, you know, the closest thing we could have to the real IMAX, we have the digital IMAX because they've got the all the stories going around about the 40 theaters that can show the actual film that he shot. Everybody else is getting the digital version. And I think it's worth it like to see it in on the big screen as the spectacle that it is, and some of his shots are really cool where he's got the boats on the ocean and it's taken up the whole frame. Yeah, I mean, it's it is an epic, and that's exactly how he treated it, and it is fantastic. However, you do kind of have to know the story going in, which most people do, so that's good. Yeah, but he didn't do a whole lot of build-up and and background, and it's it was just like, here's the next part, here's the next part, here's the next part.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah, and and most people read it because it used to be required reading in high school. I don't know if it still is, or um, so most people read it a long time ago, if they're our age, uh, so whether they remember it. Jill actually, I thought it was a great book. Jill didn't like the book when she read it, but I thought it was a good book.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know if you Yeah, I mean, I I think it's a good story. Uh apparently it's a true story from what I hear, so that's pretty wild. But you actually saw it at the IMAX? We saw it at the IMA, well, at the IMAX digital IMAX theater. Oh, okay. So there's different levels of IMAX. There's like the IMAX from when we were kids, there's only 40 of those theaters left. They only have 40 of those projectors still in functioning. Uh I think one's in Texas. Probably San Antonio, right?

SPEAKER_02

I can't remember where.

SPEAKER_01

There was, I remember when we were kids, there was an IMAX in San Antonio. Yeah, that was huge. There may be one. I mean, you figure there'd be more around you because you got the big cities. There might be one in Dallas.

SPEAKER_02

But I don't know if the auth if the legit real one that still uses the film is here.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because they're they're not making those projectors anymore. There wasn't. Apparently, there's not a whole lot of money in super expensive filmmaking. And only people like Christopher Nolan who can get the the dough together to actually do it. He's like, Yeah, I'll make this movie, but you gotta pay for $40 billion worth of film.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but I think it's kind of cool that that he did that. I I like the old school.

SPEAKER_01

At dinner afterwards, so Stacy's Stacy was the one that was super excited about this. That's why we went to the movie theater and and did the whole thing. Like I was a went in blind. I was like, I know the story, I'll go watch the movie. But she was trying to convince me afterwards that it was no CGI at all. And I was like, uh, pretty sure. There was a couple things in there they could not have pulled off practically. There's a whirlpool in the middle of the ocean. No, yeah, no, no CGI at all.

SPEAKER_02

How did he know that he he tried to keep the CGI at a minimum at the very least, I think.

SPEAKER_01

Right. And that's what it was, is that it was not like it wasn't House of the Dragons over top over the top CGI, which I think some people are gonna go, why was this not more of a spectacle? Because he was doing everything practically, you know, yeah, as much as he could. But there were certain things where I'm like, babe, I'm sorry, but that could not have been no CGI.

SPEAKER_02

That sounds like a fight Google could solve pretty quickly, though.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and she tried to. She's like, look, I'll prove it to you. Like, ooh.

SPEAKER_02

My uh my rec is uh Dark Winds. I'm late to the game on this one, but it's uh I'm always happy to find a good series that's got several seasons out because then you can binge it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, man. I'm I'm upset nowadays because I'm like, look, streaming people, you were supposed to always give us the whole season at once. And now they're like, no, we want to keep you on the hook for another $13.99 next month, so you're only getting one at a time. So I'm with you. Yeah, if the show's got a bunch, I'm in. So what's this dark winds?

SPEAKER_02

It's uh so uh Robert Redford and George R. Martin, the Game of Thrones guy, produced it uh, at least when it started. I think Robert Redford's no longer with us. But the yes, he is he is past. But the show is so it's about an uh cops on a Navajo cops on a reservation and them uh investigating crimes. But it's really the lead actor is a guy that he was in Fargo. Um and uh he's he's pretty good, but it's it's interesting. We're only a couple episodes in, but I definitely like it and I'm gonna continue to binge it. Where do I find it? Uh it's on Netflix. Oh, good. I do have the Netflix. So that's it for today's show. We'll be back next week with a new episode of the Indy Meadows show, now available on your favorite podcast platforms as well.
