In episode 40 of The Andy Meadows Show, Andy riffs on headlines about Hurricane Lala, the Cowboys, desperate sailors and grandma hobbies. He's also joined by Chris Meadows for the roundtable where they discuss a new leftovers app, Target rewards, gravity loss, more Muslim hate in North Texas, robot surgeons, budget alcohol and more. Plus, the guys answer an anonymous question from a guy who wants more bed pillows. This podcast was recorded using Riverside. See all episodes of The Andy Meadows Show here.
Welcome to the Andy Meadows Show. We've got a good roundtable coming up where we'll discuss a leftover zap, target rewards, gravity loss, more Muslim hate in North Texas, robot surgeons, eye shot gloves, and more. But first, your headlines, Hurricane Lala hits Hawaii, causing heavy rain and flooding, leaving one person dead despite being a Category One storm, further proving my long-held theory that we should stop giving cutesy names to hurricanes. My Cowboys played their first preseason game against the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks last night. The Cowboys won 17-7 and looked significantly better on defense, meaning they made more than one stop and didn't get run over like a pee-wee football team every time the other guys had the ball. Conditions aboard one U.S. warship are so bad three sailors tried to jump overboard. The sailors have spent 250 days at sea and 200 since they've had a port day, but at least it's for a completely justifiable war and not just to distract from the fact that our president was friends with a pedophile. Grandma hobbies are making a comeback, i.e., things we do to fill time before we die, like knitting, crocheting, quilting, gardening, and playing bridge. Personally, my favorite grandma hobby is bingo. It's exhilarating, but do be warned they get super pissed when you win. SPEAKER_03I think I got at least one grandma hobby, right? Um drinking? I feel like that's a grandma hobby.
SPEAKER_02You were drowned out by the uh the cli uh the the cheers. What's what's your grandma hobby? Drinking. Not a cool grandma's drink.
SPEAKER_03That's the way to fill the time before you die. And to hasten that death, too. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I don't know. There was a news report one time about a guy that was in his hundreds, and they said, What's your secret? And he's like, he held up his beer. A couple of these every day. And then he died before they aired the story. No, he didn't. He was fine. The uh do you ever play bingo? I've played bingo, yeah. It's a isn't it fun?
SPEAKER_03It's a good time, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and there is alcohol.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, there's alcohol and there I usually uh only played it on a cruise ship. I haven't gone to like the bingo hall, but I hear those are a good time. No, you gotta go to the real ones.
SPEAKER_02No, when I was in uh still living in Kerrville, two of my drinking buddies that were, you know, we were all in our early 20s, they were like, You want to come to bingo with us? I'm like, Are you and they went all the time? So I went and it is so much freaking fun. I mean, the prizes are cool, but they do get legitimately ticked off when you win.
SPEAKER_03Because you won and they didn't, that's the thing, because it was should have been theirs. Well, and I'm I hate it when you're close. I hate I hate being close and not getting it. So I I get that anger. If you're one away and somebody else being with you, you're like, damn it!
SPEAKER_02And I've been coming here for 80 years and I haven't won, and this moron comes in one time and he wins. Plus, I'm not a good winner, so that probably had something to do with it. In your face, you stop grandpa. Throwing other people's bingo cards. Uh real quick, we do have a new sponsor, poop free farms, where they guarantee nobody poops on any of their produce while harvesting it. Quick disclaimer though, poop-free guarantee does not extend to transit and stocking. So they uh it's lettuce, jalapenos.
SPEAKER_03You see, we gotta avoid uh how do you grow it without the poop? How do you what? How do you grow it without the poop? I thought the poop was used for growing. You can poop before.
SPEAKER_02Just on the soil. Just not on it after the fact. As we're all finding out now. No, we have to avoid eggs now, too, at least in Texas. I don't know if that's affecting you guys.
SPEAKER_03Avoid eggs?
SPEAKER_02There's an egg recall for uh I think the grocery stores I saw were Brookshire's and Kroger stores.
SPEAKER_03I just bought some Kroger eggs yesterday. Uh-oh. Yeah, you better check them. But aren't they? I mean, they always say eggs, raw eggs, you gotta cook anyway.
SPEAKER_02Right. Yeah, like because remember growing up that was a big thing if you ate the raw cookie dough.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, they still say that. They because there is the chance of salmonella. It's not in every egg, but you got that risk. So you just live with it. You go, I'm eating this raw cookie dough, I have to.
SPEAKER_02Because some people eat raw eggs is like and think it's a healthy thing.
SPEAKER_03I think you're like thinking of Rocky or something, right?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03He's down in the just drinking the raw eggs.
SPEAKER_02Speaking of food, have you seen the Leftovers app?
SPEAKER_03I have not.
SPEAKER_02It's called Too Good to Go. I guess too good to go to waste is their angle. Too good to go. You basically buy food the restaurant was gonna throw away, I guess. Oh, what? Which seems a little suspect.
SPEAKER_03I thought you were gonna tell me that you put your leftovers that are in the fridge into it and it spits out a recipe for something good.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, that's that makes sense. I like that angle.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that should be the way, not the restaurant couldn't sell this, so you buy it now. Well, in their department, you know they've already tried. They've even made it the special of the day.
SPEAKER_02But you you've worked at a restaurant, right? Did you ever work? Never have, no. So uh I mean they throw away massive amounts of food. And so a lot of times they'll take it to like a soup kitchen or stuff, because you can't, I mean, you don't want to serve the stuff uh past a certain point. So there's still a window where it's good enough to eat, but you don't want to charge people full price for it, I guess. Uh kind of not in Alaska, clearly.
SPEAKER_03They'll keep serving that crap.
SPEAKER_02Well, I mean, day old bread has always been a thing, you know, back in the day.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, although it's still a day old donuts, that kind of thing.
SPEAKER_02Right. So it's kind of playing off of that. But it can't be a good sign for our economy that there's an app where like buy the food we're about to throw out.
SPEAKER_03Dumpster dive before we get it into the dumpster.
SPEAKER_02That's what they should have called it. Dumpster diver. We should start a new app called uh trash, where we go through rich people's trash to see what scraps they left for the rest of us.
SPEAKER_03That's good.
SPEAKER_02Or but I like dumpster dive better. Trash Panda. Your your icon is a raccoon. So our top comment. We had a lot of good TikTok comments from a few clips. Let me share here. So uh on our this was from me talking about wine sales. That generated a fair amount of feedback. Wine is terrible. What is wrong with you?
SPEAKER_03They're 12? Maybe. I don't know. No, the date says 1984 there. Those are 42-year-old people that hate wine.
SPEAKER_02I guess. You just haven't had the right wine.
SPEAKER_03I mean, which is the second cheapest bottle.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Not the cheapest. Men aren't paying for it as much anymore. That's why some good old-fashioned sexism in there.
SPEAKER_03Did a guy say that or a lady?
SPEAKER_02No, Mark. Yeah, I figured. Mahoney? Mahoney? I can't read that far. Mahoney, I think.
SPEAKER_03I think you're right. It's Mahorney.
SPEAKER_02Uh oh, sci-fi movies also, that clip generated some feedback. Uh could you imagine the death toll flying cars would have uh have us at if everyone just suddenly had helicopters, we would be in trouble. That's not the exact same as helicopters.
SPEAKER_03Well, the drones are pretty close. That's what we're talking about, just falling out of the sky. Yeah, but you definitely don't want to be on the forefront. I'm not gonna buy the first flying car, for sure.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03Let them let them get through a generation at least.
SPEAKER_02Oh, back on the wine. Younger people aren't drinking wine like the other generations, and they blame it on weed being legal. That does probably have something to do with that.
SPEAKER_03That's what Texas is. You were talking about them getting rid of the THC, the farm bill loophole. You think that came from the politicians wanting it? No, that's gotta be a liquor lobby thing. You think it's not selling as much booze. You gotta get rid of that weed.
SPEAKER_02Uh oh, this was from the sci-fi uh clip with a YouTube comment. By the way, to set this up, we were talking about what classic sci-fi movies got right, if you go back and watch them about like predicting the future. Demolition Man's a bad movie I love to watch. They predicted tablets and self-driving cars, as well as moral policing over language.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, Sylvester Stallone and Sandra Bullock. Back when you could still seashells. Three seashells, I don't remember that. That was in the bathroom. That was what you used to clean yourself.
SPEAKER_02Nobody ever explained it, but well, they got that one wrong. That was uh back when uh you could still understand Sylvester Stallone somewhat.
SPEAKER_03Uh yeah, you could.
SPEAKER_02That that was a terrible movie, wasn't it?
SPEAKER_03It was awful but great. Yes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Which is why I guess it loves to watch it. Yeah. That's true. It definitely had its moment. It just was overall pretty cheesy.
SPEAKER_03Right. I mean, that was a uh sci-fi movie from what the early 90s, right? Something like that. Maybe, maybe late 80s, probably early 90s.
SPEAKER_02The uh so we got to give the top comment to the demolition man guy. His name is Rub-R3F, which sounds sexual. Doesn't that sound sexual?
SPEAKER_03I think most things online are.
SPEAKER_02I don't know if you've been on the internet before, but uh oh, were you aware we lived through a gravity loss conspiracy theory last week?
SPEAKER_03I was not aware that by this week we were all gonna be floating. We would all have flying cars because no gravity?
SPEAKER_02No. So last Wednesday, August 12th, we were supposed to lose gravity for seven seconds because of colliding black holes was the conspiracy theory.
SPEAKER_03Oh.
SPEAKER_02It was often dubbed Project Anchor. So the thought was the conspiracy theory was that NASA knows about this. And they're preparing, and the Illuminati and the billionaires are preparing for how to anchor down. Wouldn't we just duct tape ourselves down? I mean in seven seconds.
SPEAKER_03I am fairly certain that yes, the world would come to an end. Even in seconds, seven seconds.
SPEAKER_02You think even if we du all bought a bunch of duct tape and duct tape ourselves down?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I believe so. I mean, because correct me if I'm wrong here, but that would probably stop the spinning of the earth. Or the earth would keep spinning and all of the ocean water would go up into the air and then it would spin and then it would all fall down on top of us.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, you got a good point. I'm not a scientist, but this does sound like a bad, a bad thing.
SPEAKER_03Um, yeah, or or all the magma would just come out onto the surface of the earth. There's lots of things gravity's helping out with for us not dying. And I don't think just being tethered to the earth's crust would do it for you.
SPEAKER_02See, in my brain, because I always think of what would I do to save the kids and the wife. And my thought was we'd stay inside, just duct tape ourselves down or something like that to tether ourselves. But yeah, there's other stuff outside that would Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Also, your house is not tethered to the ground.
SPEAKER_02Well, gravity's not keeping my house on the ground.
SPEAKER_03100% it is, dude. What how else do you think your house is staying where it's at?
SPEAKER_02There's a foundation, there's nails, there's there's adhesive.
SPEAKER_03And the whole the whole foundation is just gravied to the ground.
SPEAKER_02What if I gorilla glued myself to concrete? Would I still die?
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_02There's no way to make it out of this scenario alive, I'm pretty sure. This is why, if we were in the meeting, the NASA secret meeting for Project Anchor, and I'm just throwing out all my ideas, they're like, can somebody get that guy out of here? Gorilla glue.
SPEAKER_03Maybe bunker. Maybe bunker's your move.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think Underground Bunker. See, that's why the Underground Bunker is such a good doomsday prepper thing. It it helps us survive. It helps you survive almost no gravity.
SPEAKER_03You just float up to the ceiling of the bunker. That's it. Again, I have no preparation for this at all, but I'm assuming yes, just world's ending.
SPEAKER_02We have to know a scientist. We gotta we gotta ask him if my duct tape thing would save us. Is it just me or does Target's reward system suck?
SPEAKER_03It's it probably sucks. I don't know. I don't go to Target a lot.
SPEAKER_02I thought you went to Target.
SPEAKER_03I think they've given me a reward before.
SPEAKER_02I thought you went to Target and steal your water all the time.
SPEAKER_03Hmm, no, no. They have a uh case builds against you and slowly.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Once you get up to a felony, they come in and they arrest you.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, that's what you're talking about. Is that they keep track of all that and they they wait till it gets to a certain point. No, Target's rewards are incredibly complicated. So we shop there all the freaking time because they're the only place that carry the Bobby baby formula we use, right? Okay. We go there a lot and spend a ton of money there, but you can never it's it's like a multi-step process to get any of the rewards. So you're accruing all these, but it's super hard to you know at most stores it's just like it just gives you the instant rebate five bucks back or whatever, yeah. Yeah, that or you build it up and but you just punch in your number or your card and then you but target is a pain in the butt, dude.
SPEAKER_03Well, I guess they are good at getting all of your information from you, but they don't actually want to give you any rewards. I think that whole system is just based on it knows then what each person is buying, and pretty soon I think it's gonna be able to just charge you more for that product.
SPEAKER_02No, I think I have no issue with them because it helps with stocking. You know what I mean? They know what products to have in the store.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But they would know that anyway based on what they're selling. They don't need to know which person they're selling it to. Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's it's it's to collect our data and predict our behavior.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So 100% target us with stuff for sure. But 7 Eleven has the best rewards program.
SPEAKER_03Was it just a free slushie every time?
SPEAKER_02Well, besides that, and a 7 Eleven day. And you know, if you get gas on the 7th or the 11th day of the month, it's 50 cents less per gallon. Wow. At 711. I did not know that. There's that, and it just whatever, it accrues the rewards and then it just automatically takes it off. So like I bought two big gulps yesterday, one of them was free from something I and I hadn't shopped at 7 Eleven in months and months. But they're keeping track of that. Say it. They need to get with Target and just copy and paste.
SPEAKER_03So you just give everybody your all your data all the time. And you're like, please give me at least a free big gulp and I'll be happy enough.
SPEAKER_02Well, I'm just happy we don't have to carry around those stupid. You know how you had to carry around the cards for everything? Yeah. You'd have like a whole wallet full of cards. Yeah. I like that they just tie it to your freaking phone number now. And once they get the chip in my head or my hand, and I can just fine with that too.
SPEAKER_03Uh I I I just I would rather not, thank you very much. Well, they're like, what's your phone number? I just don't bother with that. Just charge me what you're gonna charge me. Dude, but some of the stores, if you don't have the card, the only places I agree is at the grocery store, because you have to. The grocery store really screws you if you don't have the rewards. It's like every single doll. But if you're a rewards member, it's ten. Four dollars?
SPEAKER_02One thing per item, yeah. Yeah, if you don't you know so when you go get your groceries, it's like it's 120 without that or 80. I'm like, good gosh.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. We have more. But top tip 8675309 with whatever your area code works most places.
SPEAKER_02Does it really?
SPEAKER_03If you don't want to have a if or if you're just at a new store and you're not gonna sign up, just put in whatever the local area code is plus eight six seven five three oh nine.
SPEAKER_02You think that's a that's uh that's pretty universal, I think. Yeah, yeah. Isn't that a real for a time couldn't you really call that number and something funny would happen?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I think there was uh somebody manning that line for a while.
SPEAKER_02Rick Springfield. Maybe was that who was that song? Yeah, that's the other sounds right. The uh um we have more angry white people in North Texas news.
SPEAKER_03I mean, isn't that just uh about 40% of what North Texas is?
SPEAKER_02The uh uh the angry whites in McKinney are trying to recall the mayor and the city council members for voting to approve a mosque expansion for a mosque that's been there for 30 years. Okay. Just because uh it puts the headline in they voted to approve another mosque. Let's let's throw them all out. But the real messed up part is uh there was a guy that went to uh the city council meeting for the public comment phase, dressed up like a Muslim pretending to be for the mosque expansion and trying to amp up the crowd.
SPEAKER_03But he was in it was uh look like he wearing a fake suicide vest while he was doing this? Is this the whole thing?
SPEAKER_02No, he made it he he wore the traditional type garb and then a fake beard, and he was looked like a Hispanic fella. Um, but I mean at least he was if he was white. So it wasn't an angry white dude, at least.
SPEAKER_03It was an angry Hispanic dude.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but anyway, I thought that that's going a step too far. But yeah, it's a so first it was Frisco when we we had all that around our mayoral race, now it's moved up to McKinney. And they're like so in the entire metroplex, there are probably sixty-five mosques, but there's eight million people here. You know what I mean? That seems like about the right number for eight million people.
SPEAKER_03That's probably not enough. Honestly, you probably need more.
SPEAKER_02Well, and how many churches are there here? I mean, I'm a Christian, but it's not it's not like we can't have multiple we're supposed to have multiple religions here, right?
SPEAKER_03Yes. I think is Islamophobia is bad. I'm with you.
SPEAKER_02Well, I just see a lot of comments like we're not a Muslim nation. We're also not a Christian nation, really, right?
SPEAKER_03Well, we we are a Christian nation, but we're not supposed to be. Separation of churches, but we really are.
SPEAKER_02So Yeah, because there are um well, I mean, percentage-wise, we still are, but I think that's what's causing the tension is uh the amount of percentage of Christians is going down.
SPEAKER_03But you other stuff is what you're saying is it's not very Christianly to try to block other people's religion. You're supposed to be accepting that's a part of Christianity.
SPEAKER_02Well, and that's why as a even as a Christian, when I see them put here here we have the you have to have the Ten Commandments in schools now in Texas. So it's like we're the ones trying to put our religion into schools, not other so anyway. Dumb. Oh, we have a new uh Elon prediction.
unknownOoh.
SPEAKER_02I know you love your Elon predictions.
SPEAKER_03I'm gonna guess he's gonna say it's gonna happen too soon for whatever he's predicting. You are correct, sir. That's my prediction on the Elon prediction. I'm pretty good at this. Predicting what he's gonna predict. His timeline is all.
SPEAKER_00Three years. Three years, okay.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01And by the way, I'd say three years, three years at at scale. Yes. Sure.
SPEAKER_00All surgeons on Earth. And the cost of that but that's an important statement in three years' time. Hold on, hold on. Um, because uh medicine I mean. If it's four or five years, who cares?
SPEAKER_01That's still an extreme extreme precision. Yes. Um yes. Better than any probably I'd say if you like put a little margin on it, better than any human in four years.
SPEAKER_00Who's in plastic surgery by five years? It's not even close. I think your point was medicine is going to be effectively free. The best medicine in the world.
SPEAKER_01Everyone will have access to medical care that is better than what the president receives right now. So don't go to medical school. Yes.
SPEAKER_02That's what I wanted to get to. He says he's now even saying don't go to medical school.
SPEAKER_03Right. Because his robots that he's building are going to be better than everybody at everything. You know, I have a thought, and that is that Tesla stock was kind of trending downward lately. So he needs to build it back up. And everything he predicts, he it has to be quick enough for it to affect his stock price, but far enough away that he can distract with something else before somebody comes back on it.
SPEAKER_02I will say he is really good at I mean, because the big thing in getting people to believe you is just saying it with confidence. I mean Oh, yeah, 100%.
SPEAKER_03He does not look uncertain ever.
SPEAKER_02Right. And so as if you're not someone who pays a ton of attention to how many times his predictions have been wrong, and you see the richest guy on the planet who builds rockets and built one of the coolest electric cars is saying that in in three to four years we'll all be using robot doctors, then you're like, oh, okay.
SPEAKER_03But to be clear, it's also not just robot doctors, it's robot doctors that he built. That's the important part. And you know, you gotta give him credit because he has pulled off a lot of stuff that nobody thought he could do. Right. You know, so at the same time, you're like, you hear this guy say ridiculous things, and you're like, this guy's being ridiculous. But also, nobody thought he was gonna build the craziest satellite internet service ever with thousands upon thousands of satellites in the sky at any given time.
SPEAKER_02And it's working great. Or a rocket that remember the rocket that landscape.
SPEAKER_03The rocket that lands, yeah, that gets reused. That's so he he does pull stuff off. So you kind of also have to go, maybe he's right.
SPEAKER_02Right. Uh but if you go back and look at the history of how many of his predictions have actually hit, it's not fewer. He doesn't have much uh very good batting average. Would you let a uh robot operate on you?
SPEAKER_03Uh again, I'm not gonna go first. That's for sure.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm not doing version one, version two for sure. You gotta wait for the updates after it slices a few main arteries.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, you don't want blue screen of death to be literal. Oh, we forgot to charge it. It's halfway done. Oh, sorry.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, but with it, like with everything, like when we talk about the the negatives of a robot surgeon, there's also all s all kinds of things. Like, yeah, it it's not charged, something it gets hacked, uh, something.
SPEAKER_03Hopefully they're not on a network, but you know, who knows.
SPEAKER_02But we even with humans, I mean, there's the surgeon that just found out his wife left him right before he walks in into surgery, or you know, it's gonna a drug habit or a drinking problem nobody knows about. It's uh I mean there's all you know things happen. Yeah. Pluses and minuses to all of it. So Paxton and Tal Rico are essentially tied right now in the polls here in Texas. Tal Rico had a five-point lead, but it's now narrowed to like a one or two-point lead. So they're effectively tied. Do you think Tel Rico's got a real shot?
SPEAKER_03I think Tel Rico's got a real shot, but again, polls seem to be inaccurate lately. Yeah, lately. You mean since 2016? Yeah, something like that.
SPEAKER_02For the past ten years.
SPEAKER_03When it looks like your president is going to get just absolutely landslided, and then he wins. And you're like, how did that happen? It's because the polls are wrong.
SPEAKER_02So the poll the polls didn't predict that Trump was going to lose this time. Yeah, they did. But see, the the the tree just like with gerrymandering for Congress and Senate, uh the uh it's really tricky because it's the opinion polls and how people are doing and all that stuff. I mean it you've gotta it's really hard to win. It's really hard for Republicans to win in in certain districts, and it's really hard for a a Democrat to win. So there's a lot of safe seats on either side. So you're only playing with like a little bit. Uh and and in the presidential election, because the Electoral College, it may it would be easier to predict if it went by just popular vote. You know what I mean? I think the polls would be a little more accurate.
SPEAKER_03Maybe, but also I question where in Trump's case maybe it was people just not admitting that they're gonna vote for him. Well, and Pat He seems unpopular, so I better not tell these people, or just I'm not gonna talk to this person, whereas somebody who's supporting the other side is more willing to voice that. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Well, and Paxton may have some of that, so because he's got a ton of scandals too. I mean, he was impeached by his own party, his wife left him for biblical reasons. I mean, there's a he stole a guy's pen. That's the pettiest one. So it's like he stole a guy's pen. I mean, come on. The uh but it's been 38 years since Texas elected a Democratic senator. So you were 10 years old the last time. Lloyd Benson. Lloyd Benson. We had Democrat governors. Right. It's uh the last time we elected a statewide uh Democratic senator representative was a long, uh long time ago. I mean we've had we have Congress. Right. But um I mean it's so every time we get like with the beto, every time the Democrats get excited, it's a it's a letdown because the whole is this the time Texas goes blue? But I don't know, this time's could be could be the one. Who knows?
SPEAKER_03I predict that if that happens, you'll have some angry white people. Yep, yep.
SPEAKER_02Oh, parenting ex uh uh observation. It is hard as a man to not let your first reaction to your kid getting hurt be well, you shouldn't have done that. Ooh, that's rough. Yeah, like the because they always like they'll be doing something that you've literally told them a hundred times, do not do that. Do not stand on the the top of the couch, do not do this, and then they get hurt, and your brain immediately wants to go, that's why I told you you shouldn't do that.
SPEAKER_03But apparently you think that's the wrong initial reaction? According to my wife, that's wrong.
SPEAKER_02You're supposed to be concerned first, huh? Because she's heard me say that a couple times. Because I'm also in uh I mean I don't want to see him get hurt, but it is it's annoying because then you're dealing with the consequences of them getting hurt, you feel bad that they're hurt, but you've you've told them a frickin' ton of times, don't do that, and then they do it.
SPEAKER_03But isn't that also just part of learning? Like, yeah, dad's gonna tell me to not to, but who cares? He told me not to do lots of stuff. But once you've hurt yourself, you go, oh, that hurt. I better not do that again.
SPEAKER_02See, that's where Madeline's good because she anytime she gets hurt doing something, she learns and doesn't do it again. Annie doesn't, Annie will get hurt multiple times doing the same thing. And Jack is like, he's gonna have CTE by the time he's five. He just runs full speed into stuff, and he'll cry for a second, then he starts or laugh. Sometimes he'll fall off of something and just roll and laugh about it and think it's hilarious. So this is a little gymnast. And he's in uh and he's huge. He's 99% weight and height. So keep people keep thinking he's a two-year-old and he's a one-year-old. Hey, what's your uh uh what's your go-to budget alcohol?
SPEAKER_03Uh Costco whiskey. Costco whiskey is very good. I didn't know Costco had whiskey. 1.75 liter is like $18. It's cheaper than Monarch Vodka.
SPEAKER_02I don't think in Texas that Costco has whiskey.
SPEAKER_03Does Texas not have a separate, because Texas you can't sell liquor in a store. You can't do that here either, but they have a separate section of the store that is the liquor store.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I don't think so. I've never seen one. No, uh I get beer there and I get wine there. And they've got their wine is is really good for the price.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I and they always have some sale wine going on. I know we shouldn't be talking about wine because some people say it's terrible of your viewers.
SPEAKER_02Oh one of the 71 subscribers thinks it's terrible.
SPEAKER_03You're gonna lose another subscriber. You can't get to 70.
SPEAKER_02No, the uh mine is uh the black have you had the black box wine?
SPEAKER_03I have had the black box wine, but probably at your house. I don't purchase it, no.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's well I like it because I'm the only wine drinker. Like Jill doesn't drink wine, so if I buy a bottle, then it's a race against time to drink it. Because I I don't drink a whole bottle in a day. And so then you're and I pair my food with my alcohol. So like if I'm eating tacos, I'm not drinking wine. I need beer for that dinner. So it's so I started drinking the box wine so it doesn't go bad. And black boxes, hands down the best.
SPEAKER_03Stacy has this contraption that goes into the wine bottle and it USB charges, and it turns the bottle into like a tap. And so this mm thing on the top fills the glass and then sucks the air out of the bottle. It aerates it the whole bit. It seemed like a gimmick because she paid like $100 for it. Like this thing's probably stupid, but it works, it's great.
SPEAKER_02Nice, it'll keep the bottle good for like weeks on end. Was that did she see it on Shark Tank? Was that the Shark Tank one?
SPEAKER_03I think she saw it on probably the Facebook or Instagram.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, there was one on Shark Tank. I can't remember if they invested in it, but I thought it did something like that. Time for our anonymous question. Curtis in Canada asked, Andy and Chris, can you settle an argument with my wife and I? We currently have six pillows in our bed, three apiece, but I want four, bringing our total to seven, which I think is the perfect amount of pillows. She thinks it's too many. Is seven pillows too many? Yes, of course it is. I think six pillows is too many.
SPEAKER_03Right. Two is a max. Two is the max number of pillows you need. Uh, I'm fine with four. No, I mean for each person.
SPEAKER_02Two for each person. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, four total. Uh I keep correcting myself. I can go with four and a decorative. So five total. Okay. I think could be the max.
SPEAKER_03But seven, that's insane. The one person feels like they need four pillows. Is there even bed left, or are you just sleeping on top of pillows at this point?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, that's way too many pillows. I'm with your w usually, it seems like we side with the wife more than we side with the men, but okay, fine.
SPEAKER_03Well, I'll I'll I'll go the other side. Of course. It's your bed, dude. Have as many pillows as you want. This is ridiculous. I'm sure there's ladies out there who have, you know, you see those really decorated beds where the pillows come all like halfway up out the mattress and they're just throw pillows you gotta take off each time.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Yeah, I don't know how many people's houses I've stayed at where you feel like you have to remove like 90% of the pillows just to sleep on the bed. Right. Who are these for? What yeah?
SPEAKER_03For aesthetics. But I mean, if if if it's just a pillow problem, why not just get a thicker pillow, bigger pillow? Why do you need to add more pillows? Are you doing like one under each foot, one under the head, you're holding on to one?
SPEAKER_02Okay, here's here's where I will somewhat side with with the man with Curtis on this one. If it happens on your side of the bed, it's your response. You know what I mean? If he wants to have, although she probably doesn't want it to be like she wants it's asymmetrical. If he this guy wants four pillows, give him four pillows. Although either way, that's way too many pillows for an individual.
SPEAKER_03You don't need them. We're giving it away.
SPEAKER_02I think you need to see a doctor or a therapist. There's something else going on here. What about for uh a couch?
SPEAKER_03Two? A couch? Yeah, I mean, well, some couches have the design where they're all pillows on the back.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_03So you really can't limit the number of pillows on the couch.
SPEAKER_02Do you just want always sleep on the same side of the bed you've always slept on?
SPEAKER_03Of course. Why would you you can't change it? What psychopath switches sides of the bed every night? No, I'm with you.
SPEAKER_02That's why like my advice to young people when they start dating, you better, if you are specific to one side that you really want, you better pick that early because it never changes. Once it locks in, you can never change that.
SPEAKER_03We'll we'll be at a hotel or something, and Stacy will get into the wrong side of the bed and say, Oh, I thought this was my side. I mean, no, get up, get out there.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it feels it feels so weird. It throws off everything. It's like, no, this can't. Yeah. So if you're if you're strict about one side or the other.
SPEAKER_03But if there are if there are couples out there, my side is the left side as you're facing it, the right side as you're in it.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, me too.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02I think it's a good one. It's the proper side. It's the proper side. I wonder if there's ever been a uh divorce where that was the sole cause of the divorce. 100%. Yeah. Then one day she just up and changes sides. She wouldn't give me my side back. This is irreconcilable differences. Did you get a new bed? No, same bed. Not that that's even reason.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03If you rearranged the bedroom and now your side of the bed is up against the wall, maybe? You got a tight bedroom?
SPEAKER_02I don't think there's anything that could convince me to change sides. You know?
SPEAKER_03So you're saying it it would be grounds for divorce in your house if Joe was like, I really just need to switch sides.
SPEAKER_02So I'm giving her the secret key. If she ever wants to force a divorce, she just needs to just walk in one day and just sleep on the other. Nope. This is it. This is where I'm laying and refused to move. I'm like, huh. I'll call the lawyer. We have children. I can't sleep on the other side. The uh what did I watch this week?
SPEAKER_03Oh, I watched the Netflix uh bombing of Pan Am 103, which is a story I didn't know. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_02So that's been done like four freaking times.
SPEAKER_03Well, this time it was done by the Brits, and you know they do good. They the Brits have done it before. I don't I I had never I didn't even know this story. Stacy was surprised because we didn't know it, and a lot of the news happened when we were kids. So you figure we would have caught some of it.
SPEAKER_02But I think you're I think y'all are just a hair too young to because I remember like the broad strokes of it. You know, back then in the day, they took they touched on something on the news and then it kind of moved moved on. But that would it is insane that uh a town when they saw the people and the luggage and the things. I mean, it is a a crazy story. But you liked it?
SPEAKER_03I liked it. It was done well. I don't know. I I'd never you you seem to think that this story is told every year, and I'm just now catching it.
SPEAKER_02But well, I'm just I was just annoyed because I watched it on another another streaming platform had their version of it with that famous guy that was in Bridget Jones, like Colin Firth or Colin one of the Collins.
SPEAKER_03One of the Collins.
SPEAKER_02He he was it would be Firth, uh Farrell's Irish, so yeah, it was Colin Firth. He I think he was in it, he played the main guy, and it was it was really good. But then I saw Netflix did one and it looked shot for shot almost identical. McWay. Well now I gotta go watch the other one. And see which one's better. The uh have you watched the new season of tires yet?
SPEAKER_03I have not watched the new season of tires, no. I have started the new season of Ted Lasso, though. And I'm slightly annoyed because they're doing the thing where they only give you an episode a week. I'm like, come on. This is the whole point of streaming was that we would get to binge.
SPEAKER_02Well, see, that's what I like about tires too, is they they put the whole season out. Yeah. And they're, you know, 30-minute episodes.
SPEAKER_03But that's it tells you how important the streaming service thinks the series is. You know, like Netflix is gonna give you these things all at once, but they're not gonna give you stranger things all at once. They're like, this'll make you stick around.
SPEAKER_02I think it's because it's short and they figure that it's gonna annoy people if they if they give hour-long episodes. I feel like people will stomach a week at a time better than the 30-minute one. But I just like it because it's to me, that's the best comedy like sitcom that's been out in ten years.
SPEAKER_03Easy.
SPEAKER_04Hmm.
SPEAKER_03I uh we watched a couple episodes of it and never got into it.
unknownMan, I think.
SPEAKER_03So you might be wrong. You might be wrong.
SPEAKER_02You gotta try it's got heart, it's hilarious. The wife loves it, but we love Shane Gillis, so maybe that's why. Do you did do y'all like Shane Gillis's comic?
SPEAKER_03I got I got nothing against Shane Gillis, no?
SPEAKER_02Because he basically plays a slightly dumber version of himself. I mean, he calls it they are lazy, like his name is just Shane in the show, and uh Joe DeRosa, another comic, is in it, and they just call him DeRosa. Like they don't even bother. Stavros is in it and he gets a different name.
SPEAKER_03Because Stavros wouldn't have really fit in.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. But it's uh it's I think it's really good. It's hilarious, and uh and the guy that plays the the uh his buddy in it, that's his cousin is uh is pretty funny too. I mean it it's a good show, dude. Oh, my Sax player Mario Cruz said the new season of King of the Hill on Hulu is great.
SPEAKER_03Oh I think I watched the first reboot season, so I'll have to check the next one out. Yeah, Bobby's old now, right? Bobby's old, yeah. Damn it, Bobby.
SPEAKER_02Why'd you get so old? Yeah, he's like he's got a girlfriend and everything.
SPEAKER_03He's got uh, yeah. I'm trying to remember. He's got a girlfriend. He's he's opening a restaurant, he's cooking.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'll have to check it out. I love Mike Judge. I think Mike Judge is incredible.
SPEAKER_03And I like that they made the characters age. Unlike The Simpsons, where you watch it now and the guy's voice in it is 88, and you can tell and you're like, man, this is brutal.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I kind of like that on animated.
SPEAKER_03Well, other uh Family Guy seems like they've done a couple things where they like go to what to the future, yeah, but they still they're not aging the characters. Yeah. But I yeah, it's a it's a different take of okay, these characters are older now. I like it.
SPEAKER_02Well, that's it for today's show. We'll be back next week with a new episode of the Andy Meadows Show, now available on your favorite podcast platforms as well.
