SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that was that was actually probably one of the weirdest footballing experiences I've ever had. And I just remember how corrupt the airport was. Oh really? People paying cashies here to get through and you would blow up the internet if you did this in like a grand final. If we win the grand final, I'll do it. Done. I remember running to the side and then I was like, nah, I'm gonna go back across and I just just gave it these ones and I was so pumped.

SPEAKER_00

Did you like that intro?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was sick. I wasn't expecting that. Yeah, that was sick.

SPEAKER_00

Welcome back to We Are Sydney, presented to you by San Miguel. My name's Sam, and this is my co-host Adamo and Dums. Do you hear that? Yeah, can you hear that? Guys, can you hear that?

SPEAKER_02

Someone leave their phone on.

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_02

It's coming from the tap.

SPEAKER_00

Oh.

SPEAKER_02

Patty! Patty Wood! Patty! Patty Wood! We got the hero! Yes, we do! The man who sunk victory in the art as well. Let's go! Welcome! Patty Wood!

SPEAKER_01

Hey guys, how are you?

SPEAKER_02

Made it pumped. Did you like that intro? Yeah, it was sick. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Our camera got a local was in on it, but no one else knew. The ladder came off so we're actually Sammy Wolfman. Guys, we are back. We said it, Sammy. We said it last week. We're gonna win. We were winning. We're winning. And this man was the hero. Patty, how are you feeling?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, super, super pumped. Uh yeah, it was a great, great trip down to Melbourne, and um, yeah, we're so happy to win and move on into the Samis.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, massive.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, it was huge. Sammy, we say this every single episode. Lots of fan questions.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, lots for you.

SPEAKER_02

We just picked out one. I mean, it's the obvious question. Yeah. And I think 17 different people asked it, but this one came from Eric 4713.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Patty, what went through your head before and after scoring?

SPEAKER_01

Well, I was only on the pitch for a number of seconds, and it all kind of fell to me, but don't remember before, but after, I was just pure, pure enjoyment. And I was so, so pumped. And I just remember I had a conversation with Alex Barmyohan before the game about what I'd do if I scored because I played with Alex a few years ago, and I remember him celebrating in front of the Victory fans and giving them these ones. And I remember running to the side, and then I was like, nah, I'm gonna go back across, and I just gave it these ones, and I was so pumped, and yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It must feel surreal, like in that moment, you probably don't even know what's going on. Hey, all the energy, the victory fans, like it'd be just wild.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, everyone's always kind of said I'm a real awkward celebrator, but I don't know what to do, and I'm just I was just so happy. And yeah, I just gave them these ones, and I remember just going like that. It was just all going on, it was just in the moment, and yeah, so happy.

SPEAKER_02

It was a nice mix of it was nonchalant, but then it was also like a little bit of housery as well to the victory fans. I think that I think the CNFC fans loved it. It was awesome.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, I remember we had that game at Lycart um earlier on in the year against Victory, and there's a little bit of tussle in the corner, so a little bit a little bit more special scoring against Victory, and especially down there against in front of their fans.

SPEAKER_02

What's the vibe been like this week just amongst the team? Like, I can imagine it's probably also a little bit of relief as well. Like, you know, that sudden death atmosphere. Now you have two legs. Like now I feel like Patty, you know, you've been at CNFC for a long time. I feel like it's almost like a felt like a little bit like deja vu, you know, the season was going this way. You get the win though against Melbourne victory as well, and now you get two cracks at Newcastle.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, well, final series is a is a different beast, and anything can kind of happen. And you saw that on the weekend will kind of against the the runner play for a majority of that game. And people are saying snatch and grab, but um, I think that's what shows a good team when you can get a gritty win like that. And now we've got a two-legged semi against Newcastle. Um yeah, which is super exciting.

SPEAKER_00

How's the mood been with the guys this week?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, everyone's pumped. It's it's happy, everyone's happy and about, and um back to work, back at trading, and um yeah, looking forward to Saturday. I think everyone is.

SPEAKER_00

Patty, you were the hero, but you've been the super sub a few times. And darms, you've actually crunched the numbers.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we've got our uh stat man Dave here. He actually gave me this. This is a what? Let me let me find it. You think I would have had it ready to go?

SPEAKER_00

You're not the best at math, so yeah.

SPEAKER_02

No, no, no, I'm not. Here we go. So I if that's is this in Dave, is this in the career the message you sent me? 21 goals in 3,538 minutes, you've got, which is a goal pretty much every 168 minutes. So you score a goal every second game. How's that? English is always my strong suit, Sami, but that was a good map. I didn't know that, but yeah, nothing. But you probably have one of the best goal to minute ratio, sure.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I was gonna say, like, how do you stay locked in and how do you find that? You know, sometimes obviously it can be harder to come in at the end of the game with that pressure to get that goal. How do you feel?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I've kind of come uh come accustomed to it over the years of being at C FC. And I've always pushed to start games, but it's kind of been my role to to come off the bench. And um yeah, I just I learned so much of the the strikers we had here previously, Adam Lafondre and Ed Bobo and Klamala last year. And um yeah, I I guess when you come on, you just gotta bring heats of energy and and when you score and win games like that, and special moments happen like that, it just empowers you to just keep keep going and and always be positive.

SPEAKER_00

I reckon that's a lot of trust in you that they have, but also trust that you have, I guess, in your managers to know that they trust you to get a job done and you have that good relationship.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think it it always starts at training, what you produce on the training field. And I've kind of I kind of pride myself on giving 100%, um, no matter what the circumstances are, and um, I guess when they see that maybe you get rewarded for for good moments like that.

SPEAKER_02

Do you have any secrets to stay locked in? Like I see because I can imagine it'd be tough, you know. There's re- you talk about like rhythm, yeah. Football, you know, it can be a slow start, then you see certain players like 20, 30 minutes, they really come into it. You don't have that time. Sometimes you're coming on 15 minutes to go, like you know, like we saw on Saturday. Is there any tips like when you're warming up or anything? What do you are you a visualiser?

SPEAKER_01

What do you do to stay locked in? I do visualize before a game that would like to like to happen, and then often I'll get some some heats of heat. I'll just cover myself in heat to get burning, and then um then I'll get running around and yeah, uh, I don't know, I've just pump heats of gels, caffeine, you know, not the whole lot gets me going.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's all mental though, like you said, visualization would be massive.

SPEAKER_02

I've got one thing. Can I just like debunk this?

SPEAKER_00

Is it half time?

SPEAKER_02

I've had this moment to pick with it. It loves this. I love bringing this up. At halftime, you know when you're having the like the warm up, you know, you're spraying balls. Can we just agree that that is just a load of caca? Like, what is that? What actually happens at halftime warm-up? Because I would have thought anyone should be in the team talk at halftime. It should be the substitute, shouldn't it? You're gonna change the game. So why are you at half time? Like, I can imagine you're there, you're going like, bro, what are we doing on the weekend? The weather's matter, maybe we go to the beach tomorrow. You know, see, then you're playing longballs, you're taking a touch.

SPEAKER_01

Like, it's not really a warm-up. Yeah. No, we were actually in there in the chat at the start, and then we make our way out after. Okay. So you get a bit of both.

SPEAKER_02

See, I did not know that. No. I just thought you guys were out like the whole time.

SPEAKER_01

So what's the point of so the often a little chat will happen at half time and then everything three groups, and then we go out and have a touch.

SPEAKER_00

So you know the game plan of roughly when you're probably coming on.

SPEAKER_01

But also before you come on, they often give you the rundown of what they're doing. Like what they expect from you. Yeah, the game changes at half time as well.

SPEAKER_02

From one paddy to another. What has Patty Kisnorbo brought in like changes-wise to this squad?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, just a whole lot of fresh air, uh fresh energy, and um he's he's so positive with all of us, and um yeah, it's just been so refreshing for the group. And yeah, it it's honestly been, I think, the best thing that could have happened in our season this year.

SPEAKER_00

Do you see uh when you see him firing up on the sideline, do you feel like that gives the boys extra energy?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, it's it's so sick when you've got a coach who's just rooting for you like that on the sideline and and it riding the challenges like we are on the field. Uh it gives you that extra, extra energy for sure.

SPEAKER_00

Knowing that he'll go into those, yeah, security guard, you know.

SPEAKER_01

You tell us that before we go, no one fights with me.

SPEAKER_00

And that's so good you can see him in the gym every day, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he's got the bodyguard. What is it, Patty, about the northern beaches, particularly with Sydney FC? We both commentate the MPL. Yeah. And I've commented Sydney FC a few times this season. Every time you can just look through Manly Jr., Manly Jr., ex-Manly, Manly, Manley. What is it about that part of Sydney that just seems to be the streamlined straight to Sydney FC?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I don't know. There's so many players. I remember in the Academy, in the youth team, I was lucky enough to join the academy in the first year, and I remember half that team was from Manly United and the coaching staff and Jimmy Van Wir and I think the I just think the what they do over there at Manly United in in the Academy developing younger players to then come across to Sydney FCs just spot on. And I think they got the best lifestyle out there to be honest with you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, just uh being playing football.

SPEAKER_01

You get the best of both, so we're not just locked in on football, you can enjoy like the beach and it kind of creates such a positive.

SPEAKER_02

That'd be another one. Maybe we get our stat man Dave on that one, so he can give us the status episode. How many manly juniors have played for Sydney FC? Dave, I'm gonna live. Yeah, I'm gonna be heaps. It's actually it's it's frightening in a good way. Like scary dumbing. It's cool for you guys. Yeah, very cool.

SPEAKER_00

I guess you could carpool too, right? Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_02

It's nice and close.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, you won the youth league title with some stacked players. It was a stacked team. Who was the biggest baller that you played with?

SPEAKER_01

Um in that team. Oh, I just remember that Marco Tilio had just an unbelievable year that year and scored so many goals, and yeah, it's a privilege to play with him.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he's gonna be.

SPEAKER_02

Man, some of the names, now you look at that team, Jake Holman, Newenhoff, Jaden uh Chikaski, Kacharski as well, Talbot, Girl stacked.

SPEAKER_00

Everyone's gone on to kill it. Yeah, it was such a sick team.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Stack tax. So you go from youth league, you then make your debut, not the debut that maybe you dreamt of when you were, you know, terrorising football pitchers in the northern beaches. You make your debut in an Asian Champions League game in Qatar.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh wild game. That was the game that Ryan Grant ended up in goals, I believe. Yeah, that's crazy. What a wild just talk me through that debut for you.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I just remember it was such a surreal experience to first be able to travel over to Qatar with the with the first team squad. And uh we played against Aaron Moy, which was he was my uh hero looking up to as a as a young Australian footballer, and he was on the park, and yeah, I came on, I think maybe the last 20 minutes or something, and um yeah, we ended up getting a red card and Buster went in net, and it was just really all like it was um it was really cool, and mum and dad were watching um back home. I think it was real late at night, and yeah, just special.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's very cool.

SPEAKER_00

That must have been a dream, yeah. And it's pretty funny, a memorable one with Buster. Yeah, yeah, that was one of it. Who was your mentor when you broke out into the team? Who kind of took you under their on their wing arms? Yeah, it's a good one.

SPEAKER_01

Um I'd probably definitely say Alex Wilkinson and Ryan Grant. Um they've always wrapped their arms around me, still to this day. I know I'm 23, but and then and then it's not that much of an age gap, but they just take care of me and look after me and guide me through everything. And yeah, those two for sure.

SPEAKER_00

It's crazy because we always say this. Hey, he's only 23, and we feel like you've been around for so long. You're a veteran.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, bro. Like, don't take this the wrong way. Yeah, even looked. They say don't do this, but had a quick look at your Wikipedia. You're 23 years old. You've been around for a like a hot minute, you know, because you're NPL, CNFC. Like, do you feel almost like a veteran in this team? Like, if you've been.

SPEAKER_01

I've been here for a while now, but honestly, I like I love it here. And yeah, I have played over 120 games or something. That's pretty cool. Yeah, yeah, no, it's super cool, and I'm so lucky every time I put on the shirts. Something you just don't take for granted because I know how how much it means to me when I was a little boy wanting to play for Sydney FC. So to do it now consistently and play 120 games at 23, it's awesome.

SPEAKER_00

It's pretty awesome, yeah. And I feel like this year in particular, like the culture, the boys, it just seems like you've got a really special bunch of, you know, this team is just something different. Do you feel the same way?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, for sure. From from day dot the pre-season this year. We went away up to the Gold Coast for uh for a pre-season camp, and I just remember then it was just I knew we had something special this year, and kind of went through a little bumpy patch in the middle of the season, but look where we are now, and and we've got uh yeah, big game coming up this week, and hopefully we can go the way in this year, and um it'll be a memorable season for everyone involved.

SPEAKER_02

Talk me through your Ollie Ruse experience.

SPEAKER_01

What was that like? Yeah, that was kind of odd as well.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, you played some rare like to Jikistan. Yeah, went around. I can't imagine this. You well travelled, yeah. You well travelled. I can't imagine too many people have been there. What was that like?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that was that was actually probably one of the weirdest footballing experiences I've ever had. We um I remember flying into to buy Dubai, and then we had to wait, and we got like this little chartered flight to Tajikistan, and I just remember how corrupt the airport was. Oh, really? People paying cashies here to get through, and um yeah, it was it was so so weird. And I was lucky enough to score on on my Oli Ru's debut, which was so cool, and that's probably one of the proudest moments I've had as a footballer to play play for Australia.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, yeah, it's very cool. What's a Tajikistani feat? Yeah, well we gave post-games. Rice is right? Rice, yeah, rice and chicken, yeah. It's very simple. Oh beautiful. That's a good especially for football, yeah. That's uh carbs and protein. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Uh tell me about the move to Perth. How was that?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I honestly at the time um it was probably one of the best things that ever happened to me, leaving Sydney to go away for six months. Um I was just coming back from injury. I had eight months off with ankle surgery, and I was kind of struggling to get some minutes here, and we had a pretty strong front group, and um yeah, I kind of went over there to play some more minutes and honestly bet met one of my best mates over there, Lockheed Wales, and um yeah, had had an awesome time, learned a whole lot about myself on and off the field, and I definitely think looking back at it now, I'm so glad I I went over there and had that experience to come back and now I feel heaps more mature living at home and and playing at Sydney and even mentoring the younger lads in this squad, and yeah, it's really special.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I can imagine that would have been a big move, like a big change of scenery for you because you've been so like you spoke about Ryan Grant. I feel like you're almost like the next Ryan Grant. You're so Sydney FC. So to go from you know, it's not like you went up the road an hour, you went on the other side of the country. So I can imagine that would have been quite a change.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was. Yeah, it was it was very different, but I was lucky enough to be again living on the beach. So kind of had that similarity and um yeah, had a good group of mates over there in the end. And in terms of the footballing, obviously we didn't have the greatest of seasons at glory that year, but as a whole life experience and and everything, I definitely learned a whole heap.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, in a sense, it kind of sounds like you came back and appreciated everything.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's how definitely how it was. I came back and I remember having a meeting with the boss and him saying how how how was it? And I just said, Well, I appreciate everything that we have at Sydney because you see the differences between different clubs. Yeah, I was just very grateful, and then I think that maybe flicked a switch in my mind to be like, Well, I know how good we've got it. Let's let's like go on and achieve something this year. And yeah, it's been it's been like that since.

SPEAKER_00

And you've gone to a new level too, so we're it's awesome.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, definitely. And you mentioned 120 games you play for C FC, something like that. Like it's over a hundred. What's been your favorite moment in a C FC jersey?

SPEAKER_01

Favourite moment? On the weekend. Yeah, it's already up there, right? That'd be definitely up there. But I don't know, I love every time I step on the field, I don't know, just playing with some of your best mates and um I don't know, achieving the small things, little wins, and we won the cup and scoring goals. I don't know, just every goal feels the same to me, just loads of excitement, enjoyment. But in terms of maybe context, the the victory going on the weekend would be a highlight.

SPEAKER_02

And who knows, maybe even bigger memories to achieve. To cool it off, right? You know, the air conditioning is cold in here, as always. But it's time for the cool break brought to you by Sam Miguel Patty. This one we just changed the line of questioning completely. Okay, you ready? Chill. Sammy. Boom, kick us off.

SPEAKER_00

What do you do to switch off?

SPEAKER_01

Switch off. I'm at the beach.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

I'm lying down at the Manly Bower, just having a coffee and just popping in the water. What's the Patty Wood coffee order? I get a flat white. Yeah. Just normal milk? Yeah, normal milk. No sugar cool or anything.

SPEAKER_02

Sweet enough. Done. Beautiful. Don't worry about a almond or anything like that. I like it.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like in the northern beaches, you know, it can be a bit more, you know, more just even more.

SPEAKER_02

I think around the coast, yeah. Exotic coffee orders. Yeah, you can't. Okay, the east is a bit different to the north. Sydney I've seen Mount Rushmore.

SPEAKER_01

Alex Brosk. Yep. Yep. Alex Wilkinson. Stryan Grant and Jared Bain.

SPEAKER_00

Wow. That was very have you been.

SPEAKER_01

I've never asked that before, but they just rattled that off. I mean, yeah, they're just I love the Aussies and I love, yeah, they've done so much for the club. So yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Is that four or five? That was four. Yeah, no, that was four. Yeah, okay, awesome.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, this game, I've been looking now. I'm an admirer of hair because I'm losing mine. So I really appreciate people that like. It goes on about this all the time. I really appreciate people with a strong hairline and then try different things. Football is boring, Patty. You know, like people, too many got the same haircuts. I'm like, you've just dyed your hair and toe. You've done all sorts. This game, first time we're ever introducing this game, right? Working title, it's called Would or Wouldn't. I'm gonna give you a hairdo. You tell me if you would do that or if you wouldn't do that.

SPEAKER_01

I pretty much can tell you now, I've probably done that.

SPEAKER_02

We did have a look. You can tell me, we were doing our research, but I think you haven't done these. A Ryan Grant mullet. You have done a mu I'm talking like scullet.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_02

You wouldn't? You wouldn't. I would.

SPEAKER_01

You're very impatient in growing my hair. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

So you just couldn't wait that long? Probably not. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

So I wouldn't.

SPEAKER_02

I would, but wouldn't. So you wouldn't wouldn't.

SPEAKER_01

Buster looks sick with it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Mohawk. I can see. What type of muhawk does it? You know, like a thin one. Probably not. Nah. Nah. Rat tail card. Can't we have? No. No chance? Absolutely none. No. You know, the ones like a nice, like. Yeah, no, thank you.

unknown

No?

SPEAKER_02

The Montgomery Burns. You know, just the mud guards. Like, maybe, I don't know, you lose a bet. You know, you shave it up here and then just. Yeah, okay. This one, I could see you would blow up the internet if you did this in like a grand final. You know what I'm talking about. You know the semicircle?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I'll probably give that a go at some point.

SPEAKER_00

Do you reckon we can do that? Alright.

SPEAKER_02

You do that. You bring it.

SPEAKER_01

If you win the grand final, I'll do it.

SPEAKER_02

There you go, guys. There you go. You heard it first.

SPEAKER_01

How many colours have you dyed your hair? A few. Blue for a really good foundation, the new foundation with Lou Bratton. But other than that, I've only been blonde.

SPEAKER_02

Do you that hurt? Like, was uh because like I've done it once and it I just thought they just put it in, done. Oh so are they? And then you realize you've got to like it's like it's progressive. So you know you gotta go like from brown to orange and then it's it's hard, man. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Imagine you were a female guy, it's like what we have to go through, you guys like getting a few streaks or whatever.

SPEAKER_02

This guy burns your hair. It is literally bleach. It probably sped up my trip to Turkey by four or five years doing that.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, Patty, this is a game that I've been, it's my game now, would say you're having dinner with three people. Who are they and what are you having?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, right. Dinner with three people.

SPEAKER_02

Can be from any walks of life. Yeah. Doesn't necessarily have to be footballers. I think it's funny if you include a footballer and then maybe two people outside of football.

SPEAKER_01

I'd definitely say Mick Fanning. Yeah. Surfer. Cool. Um if I was gonna pick a footballer, I'd definitely pick David Beckon. I reckon he's just cool as. It's a good clothes and cars and just the whole lot. He's just a cool dude.

SPEAKER_00

He is.

SPEAKER_01

And then you've got a nice mix here, like hair tips, and then I'd punch the sharp. It's a good like it's a good mixture. And then I'll yeah, I'd chuck in Ryan Grant just because we're gonna have a great time. Have a great dinner. Yeah, that's weird. What are you having? Uh we're probably just having a steak, and yeah, I don't know, if the offseason, probably having a girl.

SPEAKER_00

But great.

SPEAKER_01

Love that, love that.

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna ask entree and just getting carried away. What are you having?

SPEAKER_01

Um, I'm not a real big foodie person, but I'm really just appreciating. You coached once.

SPEAKER_00

What? Uh Kiss Nobo once.

SPEAKER_02

You finish a you finish a game like a gruelling 90 minutes, you're not you know fanging through a drive-thru on the way to on the way home or not. You don't have any guilty pleasures? I mean you're not allowed to say Maccas. Maccas are okay. Looking ahead, Newcastle. How are you feeling about this team in particular? Because it just shows you how long a season is. First time you played them, Alessandro Clinic.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_02

Last two though, they've won both times. How are you feeling?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I guess super excited. Uh nothing changes for us. We've got a new new coach, and we're a new team now. So finals is um yeah, different game as well. And I feel like in terms of the whole teams left in the finals, we're probably the one team. Are you friends with Max Burgess? Yeah, I am. Yeah, cool.

SPEAKER_02

It's a little, hasn't he?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he's done really well.

SPEAKER_02

Are you much of a gossiper? Are you much of a you know, cucka talker to players? Because we've seen it to trans, which you like are you a trash talker? Or is he?

SPEAKER_01

I can see that a little bit. Yeah, a little bit, yeah. I don't I don't get them like let them get away easy with stuff on the field. Yeah, I like that.

SPEAKER_00

Do you find that the two leg, you know, goes I think it goes into you guys' favour. Do you think that's helps yeah just yeah for sure yeah like the first game at home especially is really hopefully um yeah we can get a packed house and and score some goals and head off to Newcastle with a good leader would be ideal absolutely Patty we do this every this could be Sammy I think Sammy Twitter Patty you're gonna sign this one so everyone that's come on this show has signed the jersey yeah I've been told it helps if I do this becoming an expert tough there's not much real estate on there Sammy that oh yeah oh yeah the number as well okay we've done that before very nice everyone everyone we've got everyone that we've had on the episode Ryan Grant's been on there who's this Alex Brosk head coach that's awful that's ours yeah all right two head coaches on there everyone there's you know this is the story of what's gonna tell us the story of what's been a long season a long journey and and guys if you want to win this one I know it's stuck we've had lots of great guests on here make sure you comment below comment why you want to win this beautiful jersey and dums we're gonna have the pleasure of actually choosing who wins it so give us your best answer very exciting I almost don't want to give it away because it's just become so special and it's told lots of great stories on this podcast.

SPEAKER_00

For our second lair get together enjoy a nice meal and yeah absolutely see you there. So I mean do you want to uh ask the question that we ask everyone besides this is something we always ask our guests if you weren't a footballer what would you be um I would love to say a pro surfer.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah I grew up surfing um my dad loved surfing and I was I wouldn't say I was good but I I loved it and I enjoyed it and um I started from such a young age and if I weren't doing that I'd I'd be love if I weren't playing football I'd love to be surfing.

SPEAKER_00

We have to go catch him at Manly, catch him a few waves you will never see me anywhere near that water.

SPEAKER_01

Oh so scary do you have a shark story?

SPEAKER_02

I feel every surfer has a shark story.

SPEAKER_01

I was up in Byron one year with my dad and my little brothers and we um we're just paddling up the point and I just remember this shark was behind us and and then it was but lucky there was a ski close by who had known about the shark and was trying to chase it out.

SPEAKER_02

Anyway I was just that'd be enough for me to never ever see me you'd never see me in water ever again never there's so many more sharks these days definitely won't see mutual agreement that the sharks stay in the water I stay up here in land and that's just that that's worked for me. But uh Pat thank you so much thank you for joining us it's been an absolute pleasure and good luck this weekend yeah good luck and then good luck over the next two legs as well and Sammy fingers crossed we're gonna have another ep for the grand final we doubled down last time we are going to be back for the grand final positive five.
