Welcome to the debut episode of Meet the Agent Hope Behind the Block. Today we're going beyond the cameras to meet one of the rock stars of real estate, a top agent helping to shape Australia's number one hero. Bring it on. I'm Wendy Claire from Judge Interior. Now meet Aaron Hill from Bray White Sunbury, the agent for Emma and Ben from House One as he prepped for the block options.
SPEAKER_02Emma and Ben, live in my dreams making the one thing.
SPEAKER_01Thank you for joining me, Aaron.
SPEAKER_00No, no drama.
SPEAKER_01This coming weekend must be one of the biggest weekends of the year for you.
SPEAKER_00It's a bit of a quiet weekend, it's only one auction, but uh it's a big auction as you as you probably know. So a little bit of um anxiety, of course, coming up to an auction like the block every year that we've done this for. So um yeah, a lot of nerves, and hopefully we can get it get a sale um on Saturday or Sunday on TV.
SPEAKER_01What do you like doing when you're not doing real estate?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I suppose uh mini sport is um is great for me. I love my sports, and uh I've got three boys under 13, so always doing sports on a Saturday, Sunday with them. So always very uh sporty over weekends and uh well, footy cricket, basketball, tennis, whatever, whatever you uh say when you say sport, it doesn't matter what it is, I love it. So it's a bit about me.
SPEAKER_01Your kids are doing all of those sports?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we got uh I've got three boys all playing in different flea sides, um, all playing in different basketball sides, and um, yeah, it's a bit of fun. It's every Saturday, Sunday, there's always something going on.
SPEAKER_03Fantastic.
SPEAKER_00Um, I wasn't gonna do the block this year, actually, to be honest. And I said no to it. And I was driving home one night, um, and my kids rang me after that I met Ben and Emma at the block, and and I said I wasn't doing it. And um they said they were a little bit upset. So I rang them back that same night and said, guys, I'm gonna I'm gonna do the block. So that's the reason I'm doing it this year because of the kids.
SPEAKER_01Wow, because they said you should do it.
SPEAKER_00Oh, they love watching every year, and they've been involved, you know, with Os and Omar the first year we did it, then like and then the year after with uh Steph and John and and uh this year again, they're in the every every year we do the video on Domain, and and they've been in the video every year, so they sort of like it.
SPEAKER_01Wow, so they've they've grown up with it, really, I suppose. They well, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, my eight-year-old has been doing since it was what three or four years old, so it was always uh been watching the the TV show and they they still love it.
SPEAKER_01Wow. So if there's a music style that most resembles your vibe, who would it be? You a bit of a Sinatra man or uh bit of a Ed Sheeran?
SPEAKER_00You're talking about music or like a Dell.
SPEAKER_03Me the AJ.
SPEAKER_00But um I don't really know who I'm like, I don't really sort of understand music too much, but uh like a Dell as a as a singer.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Uh but I like every sort of all sort of music.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but you're you're kind of uh somehow sinking a bit with her vibe. She's very dramatic and she's very confident, she's very full of soul. So I'm guessing that's something you know that must be.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, every year I've been confident winning a block, and you know, we've got second last year, we've won the two years prize. I'm pretty confident winning again, but you just don't know what happened on the day that you don't know who the buys are, they turn up out of the blue, and you know, you don't know what's gonna happen. So uh hopefully we can uh get a couple of buys this year and uh hopefully it gets a good results for the guys.
SPEAKER_01What do you feel is your kind of superpower, your unique sort of skill that helps you be a really good agent?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, look with with the block, the block is really a proper look, it's not real real estate, in my opinion. It's not the general mum and dad buyers. Um so when in 22 when I first did the block with always an IMAS, but the mud was pretty poor. It was a bad market in 22 for the public and you know the economy. So we went out and started shopping for different sort of buyer types in terms of all looking for CEOs from, you know, um quantas. We went to the MB MBL quant um CEO, we went to Adrian Portelli, we went we went to these guys that had money in their back pocket. Um and we had we ended up picking three or four of them in 22, and we got them down to the block, and we ended up carrying five or six bidders of where it was back then, and and when we got a record price for Gisbon, and and that's we've done that every year since we've had before I don't think this could be a mobile dad buyer because they're big prices. Um and the block homes always get more than what they're generally worth. So every year we we look for different sort of buys in that market instead of the normal age which goes to the mum-down buyer. You've got to really step outside your comfort zone of the block and try and get those bigger, bigger people, um, which AM was one of them, Danny Rollins is another, we had a couple other, you know, yeah. We we brought them into the block. So I couldn't we change the block in 22 foot forever in terms of when I've got Adrian and so forth down there. So since before, like that year, there was more Danny Wallace because maybe no more dad buyers, but now there's different buyers. Uh I think they'll have the same thing this year. I think much will change. Um, so that's sort of where the block has changed over the last probably three or four years since I've been involved.
SPEAKER_01And have have you got Adrian coming? I'm sure everyone's got that question about it.
SPEAKER_00No, Adrian's Adrian's not around this year. Um I know Adrian quite well, don't know what Adrian I think is sort of too his puppets as well. So Adrian's out this year, unfortunately. Um work together, so um looking at Homer can't.
SPEAKER_01We saw Kim photos of him with you in the the with the wine cellar for and then van and one got us off hopeful.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I invited him to have a bit of fun. Uh um, and definitely, you know, the wine cellar is a big thing for us. Meeting him, we've got a good relationship with wine uh since the gives me block, so I still have the wine at the cellar and Adrian did too, so it's a bit of fun there. But but uh he just came down as a friend and uh had a just uh a few drinks, quite drinks on the night and um a bit of fun, and that's all it was.
SPEAKER_01Ah, okay, so no no bidding for Adrian on Saturday.
SPEAKER_00I don't believe so, no. He's doing uh doing a lot of big things now, so um he's probably too busy these days. But look, if he comes down great, but uh no, I unlikely he'll be down this year.
SPEAKER_01We'll all cheer, but there's got to be other big fish that can match Danny, I would hope.
SPEAKER_00So well that that's the plan. Will Danny be down this year? He hasn't bought a block home for probably two or three years either. So look, um, there might be some new faces, you know, in the crowd this year. Hopefully there is. Uh when Thirsty Monkey came down last year, so hopefully he'll come back this year again. But but we just don't know what can happen on the block.
SPEAKER_01Right. But getting back to that question about what's your superpower, I'm feeling then that you're you've got a real ability to kind of, you know, your your charisma to kind of draw in these big fish that even though you said you were a little bit anxious about the weekend, you must have a real confidence and the naturalness that they're feeling very comfortable with you. That must be part of your superpower, I'd say.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, definitely. Look, I don't know these guys. And look, look, the hardest thing with an auction, it doesn't matter if it's a block auction or a normal auction, you don't know to the day till they bid put their hand up. So I've got two or three of my books now that are saying they can be bidding on Saturday, but till it happens, you just don't know what can happen with an auction. Yes, it must it's it's hard. I'm confident, but then you just don't know what will happen on the day.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I could see why it must be nerve-wracking for sure. You brought in all of these amazing buyers. Does does that kind of give you uh an inside pick first on who you get to have as a contestant? Or how how does the dance happen where you end up with Ben and Emma, for example?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, look, over the years I've always had I've always had Sydney-based um, I suppose Sydney-based uh, you know, people in the show, but uh this is my uh second year. I've done it with uh Melbourne couple. So Ben and Emma rang me, uh, would have been very early on, and and uh look, I wasn't gonna do it to be honest at all. And they're a beautiful couple, young couple, just had a baby, as you know, and uh well, they're Victorian. And uh my kids my my kids probably would have shocked if I didn't do it. So I think this will be my last year on the block this year. So it's a lot of hard work, but uh look, they're great people. When I met them, you know, I would have done it sure anyway. Um, but my my kids really pushed me this year to do it. So um no, we're pretty happy and uh hopefully uh so did you pick them or did they pick you? No, no, no, no, with the block, these were the blockers like anything. If you if you're um it's like you're selling your home, you can pick whoever you like.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So um they they they reached out to me, uh the one at you know two or three years previously. So um a lot of people know me from the block. So uh they they chose me and um hopefully I'll I can I can give them a good profit this year and a few little big bits of money in their back pocket.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you've got to be the the agent with the most experience out of all of them, I would say, right? For this year at least.
SPEAKER_00Well look look, they're all good agents. I like to say that I've I've done a few, which which you know I have, but but um look, I I do know it pretty well because I've done it for so many years now, but but um there's always someone up and coming that will do little few few things a little bit different. Hopefully they copy me a little bit, but um hopefully uh look at uh yeah, you can't do it forever. But uh, I am I've done it for a while. Yeah. Yeah. Had a um had a few little heart issues three, four months ago, uh, which I overcame was in hospital for a couple of weeks. And you know, one stage I thought I wasn't coming back for seven or eight months, so so uh got back uh reasonably early and and and you know kept pushing. And it's just luck, you know, it's just luck here. I've had a few heart issues over the last eight years, but um this year this time I thought it was a bit of trouble. But uh no, all going well and uh sort of a little bit of setback in terms of my my business, but other than that, it's it's all pretty pretty good at the moment, and and you're just gonna keep pushing on, don't you?
SPEAKER_01So, I mean, you've had how many years of experience selling real estate now?
SPEAKER_00I think I feel like an old man. I think I've done this for 25 years. Oh, REA says 25 years.
SPEAKER_01That's a lot, and and also given that you know you've had the winning houses on the block as part of that, you know, incredible portfolio and experience. So I I'm curious, do you do you start at this point of time thinking, you know, what's the legacy that you're you know giving and leaving to the real estate world now if you're pulling out of the block? Do you think about those kind of questions?
SPEAKER_00Not all of it, there's no legacy in me. I'm just another another salesperson, to be honest. But look, I've got a good little business here in Sunbury where we're turning over, you know, 300 plus sales a year now in our office. So we're going pretty well with my staff. I've got it got 20 to 25 staff now. So 25? Yeah, just done a 25 staff in four years. So, you know, I've got a very good team behind me. Uh that's why I can do the block and a few different things. But uh, but my my son's 13, I reckon he'll probably jump into real estate when I'm you know when I'm 50. So we'll uh we'll see what happens. Maybe my son can take over five or six years' time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I've got to do it. Or is he trying to get on the block? Is he doing videos for that? They're wanting to do it.
SPEAKER_00Well, um, me and my business partner Maren said to us said to each other, last year, what do we apply for? It's like, uh geez, too much hard work, I think, to actually be a contestant. So uh that that's probably how I think at this stage.
SPEAKER_01Well, let's chat a bit more about Ben and Emma and the block.
SPEAKER_02Um, but they met at the pool. They look good, it's gorgeous, he's so cool. They must dance again at the built a dream home at the first time.
SPEAKER_01What are they like then as as a couple working with them and knowing them? I mean, are they just like they're on TV?
SPEAKER_00They're very, very easygoing, uh very down to worth. Um, you know, they're mid low to mid-30s now, just had a little little one as you as you know, Bailey. So uh I think their little ones maybe six, five, four weeks old, maybe now, four weeks, five weeks. So uh they're very down to worth. Every time I sort of ask them to to help me uh with something on the block, they do it. Uh Ben's pretty good. They'd still they still work, uh so they've still got to they still work full-time, or Ben does anyway.
SPEAKER_01Really?
SPEAKER_00Um so they're they're uh from the Moyne Peninsula, so they're still a few hours away from from the block if they offer to drive up there. But um look, they're great. Um their designs are I think uh Dalesford, the way Daleswood is the feel Daleswood, the homes their home is very similar to what a lot of the homes are in that that sort of um that suburb, that area. So I think they've they've done a home that's uh suits Daleswood buyers. So that's uh you know a good um a good thing for us on Saturday. The quality of the you know, the the fixtures and fittings throughout the home, the the colour pellet, um, the landscaping. Um they've pretty much got everything at Daleswood home is, you know, it's good for an Airbnb, it's got those different sort of textures and and rooms for for people to sort of go to different sort of you know parts of the home. They've got the pool, the cause where everyone does have it, has that. Uh the driveway, just that that sort of does a feel when you walk into the home.
SPEAKER_01Right. And that hill is amazing. It does have this, you know, very beautiful kind of vibe about it. And then we've got Aaron Hill selling it. I really like that.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, my mum and dad said, was that was that was that you and I said, No, that wasn't me at all, the actual name of the home. So the hills. Um, so that was sort of uh a little bit, I suppose it that wasn't supposed to be. It was nothing to do with it. Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_01They weren't naming it after you. No, are you sure?
SPEAKER_00I've got to actually ask that saying they did, but um I don't think it was anything to do with me at all.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so they're not naming it, and Bailey's not got Aaron as the second name, they haven't named their son after you or anything.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no. I did say, you know, they could call it the little one Aaron if they wanted to, but uh it wasn't gonna happen anymore.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah. So how would they describe you? I mean, we've talked a bit about what they're like, and uh I mean they just you seem so chilled. What do you think they say about look on children?
SPEAKER_00I've done it so many times, I think. Um it's sort of I don't know what they'll say to them. I hope they're they're happy and you know they're you know we had a big night the other night, uh we got piggy night, so well, I think they're happy. I hope they're happy. Um but um we'll we'll find out a little bit more on Saturday if they love me or not, if we get a good price for them. But but uh look look, they're they're they're so mellow, they're so they're so mellow. They're very just relaxed and and uh whatever happens happens. They did say though to me a few weeks back. They said, look Aaron, we don't they don't care about the money aspect, they care about their what they've done, their experiences. Um that's what they wanted to do. They're not there for money, they're there just to do the experience of of of doing a renovation together and you know having some fun on the way. So they're not they weren't there to to what is a lot of contestants just their money money, they're there for themselves just to have a good experience, which is what I love.
SPEAKER_01So are you confident of perhaps winning this year? Or is this anxiety just you know being very humble as well?
SPEAKER_00Um Yeah, look, I'm never confident of doing anything. Um I'm confident that we've done our best we possibly can. We're confident that we've pushed as hard as we can with my team. Um, and I'm I'm very confident that Ben and Emerald have done the best job they possibly can. So, you know, there's some beautiful homes on the block this year. There's some, you know, they're all lovely, uh, and they're all great contestants. So kind of characters, but this year, all the contestants are great people. So um it's gonna come down to the the style and and and um what buyers think is there's nothing to do, nothing we can do any extra now.
SPEAKER_01Right. But I like that that's very real and very humble, and it's quite different to kind of the stereotype you have of sales agents being very much like, oh, it's the best, and yeah, we're gonna win. And you're you're quite different to that, which is refreshing and nice. You're you know, we've just done our best.
SPEAKER_00If you asked me 20 years ago, I would have said we're gonna we're gonna win for sure. But but you know, you've just got to be honest and up front and and and uh look, they're they're all great contestants, they're all great homes, they're all great agents. Um, it's just a matter of yeah, what what the buyers think now, and hopefully, you know, we we can get up there and we can we can get a few uh you know a little bit of money in their back pocket for Ben and Emma. I I did try and sell a bit before ocean this year, but they wouldn't let me.
SPEAKER_01Oh so have you been pushing the whole wine cellar? I mean, that is a really interesting and a great design.
SPEAKER_00Um I think it's um you know there's a couple of homes on the blog that I've got wine cells now, but I think we've got the the best, they're the best one, but our one is is great, unique. Um you know, you can sit down and it's got lots of uh little features where it can go onto the pool area. It's just sort of our side out, that's sort of our side space. So yeah, it's it's a bit of a bit of a gamble for the contestants, but I reckon they've they've done well and it's paid off. They were gonna do that from day one, which which they didn't want to talk about too much. And so they didn't really copy anyone. They were doing it from day one. It's just exactly you know the the the boys um were doing one from the start and they sort of announced it one way. I think Benham were already doing it, so but the Benjamin are very um humble, they just wanted to do their own thing and not just worry about themselves. So it's a great home, and every time we go into it, I like it more and more. So that's the sign of that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah. So you must have some incredible stories then from all of those years.
SPEAKER_00The most biggest auction I've ever had is probably the Adrian Portelli auction, which was the resale of House Five with the block 22. That was uh the two gals that uh drink again in Hampton. That was a $1 reserve prize auction. That was the biggest auction I've sort of been uh we had about 216 bids on that, or 216 bidders, which we're selling that property. Um that was a one dollar reserve auction, it was 3.245 million. That was uh last year. That was the biggest um used property on real.com last year. So that's probably what if you of course that's the biggest auction I've sort of been a part of. That's probably the biggest auction I've been a part of, which again is Adrian Portelli, of course. Um, but that's probably the biggest one and the most bidders I've had on any property I've I've ever had in 20 odd years, if you if you want to call it that property. Amazing. I feel like an old man doing this job, but but I've sold a lot of um family and friends' homes over 25 years, and they're probably always my favourites. You know, when you when you get a good price for your best mate or your cousin or your parents, or you know, they're they're the ones you really sort of treasure. Um, but look, the the block ones, you know, I can remember, you know, in 22 I lost my shoe in the mud at the block when I first got there, and you know, lost a pair of shoes, you know, in 22 with Rosen Omar, and you know, there's some there's been some funny nights with Rosen Omar, especially because they're they were crazy. Um, you know, Steph and John again, we've had some really good nights, and they're very good friends of mine now. So, you know, they're they've got every time they come to Melbourne, we catch up and have dinner. So there's always certain people and certain clients you always keep. Um, you know, I've got my auctioneer this year, which is his name's Milo. He's probably, in my opinion, one of the best auctioneers in Australia. And he did my block auction for house three last year. So, you know, we've got a good auctioneer in Milo, I mean, they've got about 25 years. It was my first boss in New York real estate, and he was doing an auction for me 25 years later. So, you know, you meet a lot of good people, uh, bad, good, ugly, whatever you want to call it, over 25 years of real estate. And um, yeah, it's a lot of fun this job. I I don't call this job fun. Uh it's like a sport to me. It's a sport every day as you get out of bed and you do something different. Every real estate's different every single day you do this. And you know, if it's marketing or it's different things you do, you you meet different people, you go to different homes. Nothing's ever the same as real estate, you know.
SPEAKER_01So, like a sport, do you kind of practice it? Like, do you practice a poker face in the mirror or how do you prepare for an auction?
SPEAKER_00I think it's just very useful if you be yourself every time you get out of bed and you go to work. But but I think the longer you do real estate, the more you know what you're doing in terms of negotiation skills and and you know, you know, should this be an auction property? Should this be a private sale property? You just know more. Um, and the longer you're in it, the more people you know, and the more people that trust you, hopefully. Um, so that's how I look at real estate, to be honest. Every day's different. You know, I've sold my parents' house uh would have been a while ago now, and it's very emotional. You know, when you get people, when you go to walk through people's homes and they've been there for 30 to 50 years, then you don't it doesn't happen very often anymore. So when you go to a home, they've been there forever. Um it feels I don't just feel a little bit diff more different. I don't know what that that feeling is, but when they've been there for so long and they trust you to, you know, um to sell their home. Well, I saw one the other day, would have been a wallet and L it's been a feeling for a hundred years. And uh when you get those sort of properties, you go, wow, you know, that that that's they're meaningful sales. You know, but they're the ones you you love the most. I I think anyway, it's me. Yeah, but there isn't there's always so many things I've paid in real estate for 25 years, so many different things have happened. And we we sold a you know, we've sold a racetrack now, we've sold so many different properties. Um we had a property in Pascal nearly 20 years ago where the reserve was one point, or was it 2.1, sorry, and it sold for 3.6, and you go. Sometimes you can't value property either. Sometimes it's just crazy what things go for. When we value a home, we're never right. There's always something that happens, and that's what happens sometimes with property. I've had that many sales over that many years. I I couldn't, I can't I can't. Can't give you one or two stories to be honest.
SPEAKER_01That's all right. It's all become a bit of a blur, it seems.
SPEAKER_00It is. It's been it's been a lot. I've had a vendor I've solved five times now in 25 years. So, you know, they keep coming back to me five times. I've sold the same home four times as well in Eston, I've sold one home four times in 25 years as well. So it keeps coming back.
SPEAKER_01So what's left for you in your career now? I mean, just keep on doing it because you love it, or have you got something a goal?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, look, I think in two or three years I'll probably step back a little bit and hopefully my team, I've got a very good team here, and a lot of young, young guys that are very, very good at what they do. And I think the next part is for them. You know, they're the ones that are gonna be showing their face and and selling 150 homes. You know, you know, a uh I did one third last year, but but I'll I'll go backwards and hopefully sell not as many, and my guys here will be be sort of doing a lot more. So that that's my next phase in in in real estate. I would like them to sort of get ahead of me. Got a young guy Josh here now that's uh a machine that that'll probably be ahead of me in a couple of years' time. Like he's he's gonna be an elite agent this year for Ray White, and and he'll we'll get to chairman eventually. So um I've got two or three of the guys here that'll get in the next two or three years, they'll be definitely above what I'm doing. Hopefully.
SPEAKER_01Fantastic. So we'll see them on the block instead of you, I guess.
SPEAKER_00Well, young Jamie actually said to me today or yesterday, he said to me, Aaron, are you gonna do the block manager? I said, probably not, you know. Jamie goes, Why not? I'll can I do it. I said, Well, do you want to do it? You get the call, we you can definitely do it. But um, you know, Jamie would like to do it again next year. But well, I think I'm sort of out next year, to be honest.
SPEAKER_01Right. Oh, I'm glad I've got you to interview this year. Then if it's maybe your last, that's kind of special. And then someone else might fill your shoes literally, even in the mud. Tell me, did you get your shoe back? I've got kind of still got it.
SPEAKER_00We never I never got that shoe back, to be honest. And I don't think I wanted to pick it out of the mud. I had some uh some proper work shoes in my car, which we're supposed to wear at the block every time we go there. So I'll put them straight on with muddy, muddy socks, and and uh that was uh that was a bit of fun back then.
SPEAKER_01Ah, okay. Well, that's good. You had backups. So that that that must be one of your tips then for your agents that you're handing over to. Are you asked a million times a week what is the most important thing that you would pass on to them?
SPEAKER_00In real estate, you've just got to be driven. Uh you know, you've got to you've got to have a good drive behind you. Um, if you're lazy or you're not gonna, it doesn't matter what job you do, if you're lazy, you're not gonna go anywhere at life. So um, I think you just have to be driven in real estate. Work as hard as you can. Uh the hours, you've got to do the hours when you start. Like you're you're a young young guy. You know, I'm in the office at 7 30 every morning. I I know that not many people do that, but I'm still doing it. You know, you know, and get to get home late. It's just what you do at the start of your career, and you've got to push hard. And and um it doesn't matter if it's real estate or or you know, bakery or whatever you're whatever the job you've got, you I think you've just got to be passionate about it and and be driven about it. And look, you'll get there in the end. And um, I'm still not there, but um, I'm still pushing and getting learning and getting better, and and um that's the way I look at life.
SPEAKER_01I'm amazed though that you say you're still not there. I mean, you you seem such a huge success. That's uh that that's really something. But yeah, you you're obviously still working so hard. I guess that's what it's about.
SPEAKER_00Look, I think successful is the team around you've got around you. Yeah, it's not me, it's a team I've got. Like Maddie this year, my EA, she's she's probably the hard and soul of the block house one this year. She's done all the work, all the background work, which which I can't do. And you know, if it wasn't for her, I'd probably be in a lot more trouble. So I think success in life and real estate is people around you. You know, my business partner runs the office, yeah, he allows me to go through the block every year. Um, the admin staff around, they uh probably do more than I do around you know, getting the brochures up, organising the boards up and organising the VIP night for been an hour. And they're the people that really do the hard work. I'm just the face of it at the moment, and I'm likely I've got a good team around me.
SPEAKER_01What happens over the next few days leading up to that big, all-important auction moment?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so as of today, I'm starting to try and get my bidders in mind. Like you did, I've got to register these bidders. I've got two or three that I'm gonna try and register by the end of the week. I need to register these guys by probably Thursday. So next three or four days is getting those guys on paper to say they're gonna be bidding. On Thursday, I'll probably be up at the block in uh Davisford to get the reserves. Um, so we get the reserve prices on the Thursday, Friday. So I'll be up there doing that on Thursday, and then uh really just focusing again on Friday about making sure um, you know, we've got the time for the auction on Thursday, so making sure my bidders are there on time and um you know, making sure they've got their big their big wallets, I suppose, to you know, put their hand up for the most amount of money. So that's the week it sort of hasn't changed. Um I'm glad I've done it before because I know the other age we probably go what's going on, but it is a lot to do. Um, but look, hopefully we can get you know two or three bidders and um and and we get some some people that are looking pay a little bit more than what the owners want or what the town I want, so we can get a bit of money in the back pocket for Ben and Emma.
SPEAKER_01What is your big strategy then for Saturday?
SPEAKER_00One the option order is going to come down to the auction order on Saturday. We know where we want to be. We're not gonna say say anything too much now, but we know where we need to be, we know what order put what number we want. Um so we'll see what happens uh on Thursday. But um look, just getting those buys in the in the door and uh making and we're standing in in different different spots in the crowd uh that we've done every year and uh making sure they've they've got the support to put their hand up, really. It's it's it's very simple.
SPEAKER_01And how are they going with that? I mean, obviously they're they're always very positive and friendly, but I mean, do you notice them feeling the nerve time?
SPEAKER_00Well, they just they they've done this for the experience. Yeah, they get if they get a little bit of money in their back pocket, they're even happier. But they've done it for the experience, they'll never forget it, of course, and uh that's how they look at it. So uh that they already want it.
SPEAKER_02Meet me at the waterfall.
SPEAKER_01I really wish you all the best to you and to Ben and Emma. Thank you too for joining me, Aaron. Thanks everyone for joining us for now with day two of the eight open. I'm gonna be coming from day two more episodes coming up.
