I'm Dorsey and welcome to Girl Nature. The name Girl Nature began back in college. My roommate started calling me that almost from day one It's a reminder that nature has always been my compass. My classroom and my way home each month. I'll meet you here around the time of the Full Moon to explore how the rhythms of the natural world can shape the way we live, create, and connect. Before we dive in, take a moment with me to arrive. Place your hands crossed across your chest, over your heart. Keep your palms anchored into your heart space while gently tapping your fingertips. Unc unclench your jaw, soften your shoulders and take one. So breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. Let this breath mark your intention for today. Something simple like, I'm here, or I'm open. Or I am okay. That's all you need. Let's begin. i'm mother of four, founder of Girl Nature, living student of Feng Shui, and an advocate for being you. And this is not necessarily your perfect you. It's not the version society tells you you should be just you. Fully alive, fully present, fully creative. This is Girl Nature. It's a podcasting adventure, a collection of love notes to ourselves, practical feng shui, insights, and a journey through wildly successful entrepreneurship. And my hope is that this space serves you in a sacred and profound way. So you might be asking yourself, how did all this start? Well, it really goes back to high school. 20 plus years ago, I had this senior project. It was a. A senior project that I Feng swayed my bedroom and my office, and I profoundly remember being in that consultant's office and just remembering the vibrant plants, the light coming through the windows, the texture of the couch and the way it interacted with her wooden desk and the artwork on the walls and the fabric. And just wondering how in the world, this is like a dream job. This is what I want to do, but pushed it down and really didn't visit it until 20 years later, after all four children, I finally dove deeper it wasn't just a hobby, it really. Felt like a calling to my inner child, to honor that curiosity, that wonder my creative spark. And now it's a way to serve my community, to share insights that are practical, transformational, and joyful. I hope that all of it can expand your spirit, calm your mind, and create crystal clear vision. And you know, I'll be honest, this is not coming from a place of perfection. I don't think there really is such a thing that I'm learning. I'm definitely recovering from burnout on many levels, juggling, motherhood, marriage, life, creativity. It can be messy. I can be rebellious at times, right? Mom. I can be creative and above all else, I'm really learning to let go of the shoulds and that this transformation process is not perfect. It's not completely organized in a well fashioned way. It's messy, it's alive. It can be joyful, it can be tearful. While we're here today, there's a super moon. The moon is the closest it's gonna be to Earth all year, and it's the last full moon before the winter solstice. I love thinking of the moon as a mirror and how she reflects what we've been holding. So let's think back on maybe. Some of the emotions we're currently holding, the stories we're holding, maybe they're old stories that no longer serve the energy that's been tucked away, like my feng shui dream job. And this month, everyth theme I've been listening to and researching points to the same thing. It's paying attention to our emotions. It's a radical acceptance of where we are. Who we are, what we look like, how we dress, It's an emotional decluttering, and it can also be manifesting a brand new story of your creation, of your vision, of your dream life. So this is really a time to, along with nature, as it quiets down, it beds down. Turns more to darkness. It's a time to tend our inner flame and our spark. We definitely don't want that to go out and allow those emotions to take over that are no longer serving. It is a time to allow space for releasing those things and renewing those stories that we tell ourselves and that we believe about ourselves. And here's a little secret clearing emotional space often goes hand in hand with clearing our physical space. One supports the other, one mirrors the other. So here's a small, simple feng shui tip you can do today, even tonight before bed. It's just do it quick. Don't even think about it. That can shift your energy. Check your front door. Clear any obstruction. Sweep the area, swipe all the cobwebs off, clean all the, any mud splattered from the rain, or any fingerprints. Make sure it feels inviting. What's the next best thing you can do to make that warm, vibrant, clear, focused energy into your home? Why? Because your front door is your energy gateway. It's your face to the whole world, and it's where fresh, focused energy can enter your life. So by removing blocks and even small ones, they're literally inviting in clarity, intention, and abundance. I invite you to seriously clean your door. Go get a bucket of water, a paper towel, and a cloth. Wipe it down, do it quickly. Don't even think about it. And tomorrow, when you wake up, notice how you feel. Notice how you feel when you walk by. Notice how you feel when you open the door to that neighbor that stopped by. Notice how it feels. Notice the energy. It gives you another little practice. I love. on the messy mornings. Maybe you didn't have a good night's sleep. Maybe your kids are waking you up and you're not ready to be up. Doing all the demands upon you is a mirror affirmation. So get out of bed. Look at yourself in the eye and say, I love you. Even if it feels weird, even if you feel you're not in a perfect place. This is a practice of meeting yourself where you are. And allowing that energy just to land even in the awkwardness of it, let yourself be witnessed by you and by your heart. It's profound. So this podcast is a North Star. Every episode is built on expanding my horizons. It's expressing my true voice, letting my soul shine, and serving my community in a sacred space. I want this to be the same for you, a safe, sacred space to be you. My vision. To encourage and uplift women and mothers to remind you of your value and worth deep inside yourself. I'll have solo episodes like this one. And transformational interviews. I can't wait with amazing guests. Our conversations are meant to be real. They're meant to be honest, funny, sometimes explicit. Radical authenticity is definitely at the center and at the end of every episode, I'll ask this question. To myself today and all my guests. Given your walk of life thus far, what's one piece of advice you'd offer the rest of us? In asking myself that, my piece of advice through the life that I've walked thus far is to believe in miracles. They're not the big glamorous ones that you necessarily see in movies. They can be, and I fully welcome those into my life. Absolutely do not turn those away. But they're more about the small moments. It's more about that mirror affirmation and looking yourself in your the eye and being like, yes, I did it. I told myself I love myself. Now I'm gonna go celebrate. With self care, a salt bath, a walk outside, something that's life giving. Drink a glass of lemon water. Build upon those positive affirmations. I want these or this question to serve as little love notes to carry us forward until the next moon.
