Happy Full Moon! We're landing tonight, on April 1st under the peak of the Pink Full Moon — named after the wild phlox flower blooming across North America this time of year. In this episode, we slow down in the middle of astrological fire energy and talk about what it means to emerge at your pace.

We'll explore:

The Pink Moon & Phlox — the folklore, the herbalism, and what this flower has to teach us about harmony and soothing an activated nervous system

The Daffodil as a symbol of visibility — emerging from within, becoming seen after a quieter season, and why that can feel both beautiful and exposing

Feng Shui & the Center of Your Home — the earth element, the Bagua map, and why the center of your home holds the key to your overall health and vitality

Simple home practices for this moon cycle: grounding plants, clarifying essential oils, salt bowls, and activating your space with your own presence

Plus — a special announcement about an in-person Summer Solstice gathering on the land for harvesting St. John's Wort! More details to come.

Our next episode lands on May 1st for Beltane, the Celtic celebration of the halfway point between spring equinox and summer solstice.

Until then: tend to your true self, notice the center of your home, and go be you.

Enjoyed this episode? Please share it with a friend who needs a softer landing this season; I would be honored to grow and hold space for this sweet community.

INTRODUCTION:

Speaker

I'm Dorsey and welcome to Girl Nature. The name Girl Nature began back in college. My roommate started calling me that almost from day one. It's a reminder that nature has always been my compass. My classroom and my way home each month. I'll meet you here around the time of the Full Moon to explore how the rhythms of the natural world can shape the way we live, create, and connect. Before we dive in, take a moment with me to arrive. Place your hands crossed across your chest, over your heart. Keep your palms anchored into your heart space while gently tapping your fingertips. Unclench your jaw, soften your shoulders and take one. So breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. Let this breath mark your intention for today. Something simple like, I'm here, or I'm open. Or I am okay. That's all you need. Let's begin.

Speaker

Hello everyone. Welcome in. We were just together for the spring equinox, and now here we're landing on April 1st. On the Full moon. The Pink Moon. But before we dive into that, I just wanted to do a quick little check-in of how everybody's feeling. How's everybody's nervous systems? Have we been able to tune in, become curious, make any small improvements, or are we landing about the same, or do we feel even more off -kilter? I also wanted to touch in, we've talked about in the last episodes about decluttering, setting aside, some time to declutter and really take inventory of what is in our space and what is taking our attention. Are we putting our attention on quick? Dopamine hits or are we doing things that'll earn our dopamine, that will express our creativity that will land us here in our body and our true selves? Uh, we've also talked about our entryway, and I'm curious if anyone has cleaned their door, cleaned their windows, cleaned the transition area from the outside to the inside, and how, how does that feel?

Speaker

I know for me, I've been doing a lot of work on our entryway. Within our means and have been potting, lots of plants and flowers and terracotta, I actually took inventory and, have reused a lot of things that we found here. We bought our house about four years ago and we've been cleaning up and finding a lot of trash, but there's also treasure, so reusing some of those pots that we found, and noticing how stabilizing and grounding those activities feel and the impact of visually seeing this life force in front of our front door is really amazing and uplifting, and I hope that you all get a chance to tune in to your front door, in your space in that same way and make these small improvements that will make vast leaps and bounds of changes in our energetic field and the way in which we come back home, not only to our physical structure of home, but home within our bodies and how it really feels.

Speaker

And I'm also curious, our first love note in this series of podcasts was to believe in miracles. And I'm curious if and what miracles you guys have witnessed and experienced. And if you don't feel like you've. I witnessed and experienced any miracles. Maybe it's another opportunity to tune into your breath. I had a friend one time, right when I moved out into Colorado and I was in a brand new place and she was one of my newer friends and we were in the bar. I was young still, and I think I was 23. So we were at the bar and I was feeling particularly anxious. I could not settle. And she goes, Dorsey, we're gonna sit here in this bar and take 10 deep breaths together. And 10 actually, feels like a lot, but I guarantee if you take 10 deep breaths, you will feel as though a miracle has coarsed through your entire body. So I invite you into that practice. If anything.

Speaker

Now moving into the pink moon, it gets its name from phlox [subulata]. The small ground cover wild flower that's native to North America, and a lot of times they're like bright purple or pink flowers and they are starting to bloom around this time. And traditionally phlox was used as a blood clot purifier and a skin remedy. It's made into teas to treat inflammation and eczema. And it's a plant associated with harmony. With unity.

Speaker

And right now we're in a moment where multiple planets are moving a real ignition energy that astrologers have been pointing at for a while now. Also we've been hearing about the fire horse taking off. It's going for it now, and we can feel it. So this pink moon, it's named after a flower. That's used to soothe and calm, traditionally speaking in herbalism and in this moment in time, in the middle of all that, we're in this astrological time of fire. And when I feel that kind of energy, how much it asks of the nervous system; a nd no matter what capacity you're holding, no matter how big or how small, your timing is perfect and you deserve all the miracles.

Speaker

And from this space, I wanted to bring in the daffodil. Our little town here in Amity just had the cutest little Daffodil Festival this weekend, and the daffodils here in the Willamette Valley and the Pacific Northwest are just stunning. I've never felt the daffodil so strongly before, and as we all know, it's one of the first things up in the spring. And I keep coming back to this time of year because of what it represents energetically. It's this quality of becoming visible, of emerging.

Speaker

So the daffodil comes from bulb, it's actually poisonous. So, we're very careful with this plant. There's other compounds in this plant that actually are used to treat Alzheimer's disease, so it's an amazing plant. Since it comes from a bulb, everything it needs is already stored inside it, and this quality of becoming visible- I think there's something really significant in this for a lot of us, because being seen, coming back into view after a quieter season can be genuinely hard. Visibility isn't always comfortable. In fact, it can be the opposite. For some people, it can feel exposing. It can feel like too much too soon. It can feel just too much in general. But the daffodil as a symbol, as a visual intention, offers a different picture, one where emergence is gradual, where you're supported from the inside, where you don't have to be louder, ready or all the way out. You just have to be willing to come up a little bit, willing to meet the season. And if you're not feeling willing to meet the season, why not? Do we need to get more sleep and just inviting that curiosity back into the conversation always.

Speaker

The energetic imprint I want to think about and that I want to carry through this moon is not matching the fire necessarily, but honoring where your body actually is and letting that be the pace and letting the fire carry you through with that genuine pace. One of the ways I think about supporting our capacity without being overwhelmed by it, is through our homes.

Speaker

Of course, in Feng Shui! The center of the bagua map corresponds to health and overall wellness of our life and home. It's represented by the earth element, stability, grounding, integration. It's the area that connects every other part of our life. It's the section of our home that connects every other section of our home. I think it's one of the most telling spaces in a home, because most of us aren't necessarily tending to it unless you're in the field of Feng Shui.

Speaker

And by the way, I would absolutely be honored if you could share this podcast with a friend or a family member if you love it, if you resonated with it. I would love to grow my audience and allow this to be a totally magnetic experience for all of us and a community that we can land in together. So please share it with a friend if you resonate with it. <3

Speaker

Going back to the center of our home, I invite you to just look at it with curiosity. What's actually there? Is there furniture there? Are there stairs there? Is it tidy? Is it a dumping ground for the whole family? Is it kind of forgotten? I was taking notice of our center of our home and, all of us are throwing our dirty clothes right there. Which was really interesting. And it was just blah, you know, the back of the couch, there's stairs, a hallway, and then our dirty clothes. So it's been interesting tuning into that, being curious about it and making small shifts. And coming from a place of curiosity, there's no room for judgment. It's just noticing it.

Speaker

Because that center can become a really intentional place. We could bring in a strong plant, something with real life force, and really take care of that plant too. It could be a grounding rug to stabilize the space. We could diffuse something, clarifying essential oils there that brings freshness and mental clarity into the space. We could do a deep clean or place a bowl of salt there to purify and reset the energy. We could do an energy cleanse there. And then use it! You could sit there and read, think about the activities that you could do in the center of your home. You could put on music you love and dance in it; activate it with your presence and your wellbeing and let it become the place in your home that actually holds you and.

Speaker

That's really what all of this comes back to for me, is the home as a place where it all lands, where you get to decide what kind of support you're building around yourself. The sky has a lot of fire in it right now we're hearing about it. Our nervous systems are doing their best. And your home can be the thing that holds all of that, the place that helps you emerge in your own way, at your own pace, without having to be anything other than where you are right now.

Speaker

And this is the work that I do through Feng Shui. If you are curious about looking at your space through this lens, go to my online store. I'll leave it below. I'd be honored to invite you in. I love you all. Happy Full Moon. May you all feel aligned with the own energy within. So that you may stretch and bloom and come into full alignment with the miracles and the great momentum that is ahead.

Speaker

I can't wait to welcome you guys in on May 1st, where we celebrate the halfway point between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice. It's called Beltane in the Celtic cultures, and May Day, some of you might know it as, and is celebrated with bonfires and playing and all of that. So in between now and then, tend to your True Selves, notice the center of your home.

Speaker

And want to announce that I will be having a Summer Solstice in-person event! The Summer Solstice is the best time to harvest St. John's Wort, and I have tons growing on our land, and need help harvesting it. So I'd like to make a really fun event that you'll walk away with some St. John's Wort and a community gathering of women to help gather flowers and in return, walk home with some medicine. More on that to come.

Speaker

Until then, take care, be in alignment and go be you. Thanks for listening.
