Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 596 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - I could fall asleep at night as a Rock and Roll star...and JHS make history

Brian starts flexing his biceps and immediately Richard brings the tone down before admitting his ego has very much got the better of him. He has finally got to gig with his band and those that have followed the tale for the last, err, two years may be interested to hear how it went. Brian managed to spark panic with his pre-gig advice.

Richard had a great gig experience watching the band Jamiroquai but it was slightly tainted by the people he sat next to and he tells us of his many woes. There was some sad news from the entertainment world this week and the guys discuss it. 

JHS and Electro Harmonix have collaborated on the Big Muff 2 and the guys all love it for various reasons which they debate. Brian looks at some of the nerdier aspects of the circuit before making some shocking goat based revelations. Elsewhere Robert Keeley has released an intriguing new reverb pedal which the guys check out.

Richard is about to play his first real guitar gig and he is somewhat nervous, so the guys give him advice on how to make it though like a pro. There is plenty of actual advice for a gig novice and there are also amusing stories and many red herrings. Somehow a new pedal is invented.

Speaking of pedals, Brian has got a new pedal that he has never owned before and he digs into what he likes about - it much to his surprise. He also tells us about his new best friend on the Internet and there is a terrible confession from one of the guys. There is also more talk about aliens.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 594 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Brian breaks the Internet as Wampler debut The Compulsion Drive

Brian has turned into Pedal Santa and Richard has been making new friends by daring to try something experimental on the Internet and the guys discuss it. Fair warning - there may be some ranting as there was a bit of a pile-on and our intrepid British King of Fuzz had to fight them off at the drawbridge (insert trumpet sound here). 

Wampler released The Compulsion Drive (TCD) which was Brian's tribute to a famous circuit and it has proved very popular for a number of reasons. The guys discuss some of the modifications Brian made, the special not-so-hidden dip-switches, and talk a little about some of the design choices that were made. 

Ozzy Osbourne's estate have put out a T-shirt that made the guys giggle in a puerile way and so it needs to be discussed. Meanwhile Josh Scott of JHS has been working on a new charity project and it has impressed Richard into sarcasm submission. Fender have launched a new Masterbuilt Dave Murray Strat and it is gorgeous

Blake opens up with a revelation about a new pedal and Richard is immediately forced to make a legal disclaimer.  He also has the worst business idea ever and Brian dreams up a new rap name. Fractal engineering have released a new modeling unit and the guys think it is cool but have little else to offer. 

Richard finally got to the bottom of his cartridge based onboard effects idea when he had a communication with one of the leading companies in this field. Do you use wireless monitoring when you play in a band? The guys look at modern radio systems versus wi-fi based systems and Brian schools Richard.

Were you in a band at high school? The guys talk about the difference between British and American schools and there are notable differences. Brian went nostalgic and watched some classic movies while elsewhere there has been big UFO based news. Richard breaks some Brad Paisley news to Brian in an Internet first!

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 592 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - What's happening to the price of US guitars, the rise of the robots, and Brian's goth phase  

Blake has a wallet bursting conundrum as not one but two of his favorite bands are on the same bill and he needs help which Brian and Richard are more than happy to not give. Richard bores Brian to near death with Pink Floyd related updates and then talks about his new old music discoveries. 

Richard has AI based concerns and he expresses them via the medium of terrible analogies. Brian is not convinced that he is right but there is a business idea and a possible confession. The horrors persist for Richard as he discusses a brand new release from Gibson and Brian taunts him with emojis. 

There are some language barriers that need to be broken down and there is much confusion. Marshall have released an amp in conjunction with Spinal Tap and Brian ponders the possibilities of an infinitely loud amplifier.

Are gear influencer's not as influential as they once were? With the change in Youtube's algorithms and the shape of the gear industry seeming to have shifted the guys discuss this in the context of a recent video from friend of the show, Henning Pauly. Brian makes a shocking and frankly deeply disturbing guitar announcement.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 590 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Brian wrecks another guitar and ponders what it is like to be knobyfied!   

Brian once again eschews the uniform requirements for the podcast much to the chagrin of Richard and Blake and he now looks 20% scarier. Dave Mustaine is in the news for covering a Metallica song as a bow out on his final Megadeth album and the guys are all for it. 

Meanwhile Richard is unwell and has discovered his father had a groovy moment in the 1960's which led to the discovery of a new album. A new device called the Knobyfier caught Richard's eye and the guys discuss it whilst trying to avoid the normal grade school jokes. 

Back in Martinsville, Brian has accidentally damaged a guitar and it has bummed him out a little. He drops some major hints about Wampler's next few releases. The guys stumble across a new guitar based phone accessory and they fall in love with it and Brian dreams about owning a tricycle and not giving away billions of dollars. Job's a good 'un.

Brian discovers someone has been talking about him and then breaks down a little bit of knowledge about his latest miniature marvel, The Wampler Mini EGO 76 . He also discovers words are difficult when trying to describe pedals. There is some questionable electronics discussion which you should definitely avoid.

The British King of Fuzz is outraged by Strymon borrowing his name for their latest delay pedal but he is worried about the strength and validity of his case. Brian wonders about how amphibians mate again and the guys are concerned. Richard has had some guitar revelations and we pay our respects to the late KISS guitarist Ace Frehley. 

The guys get misty eyed for (checks notes) vintage cell phones and this somehow turns into truck and then car talk before Richard guides it full circle to pedals. Then back to cars again.  How hard can it be to start an electronics component manufacturing company? Inquiring minds need to know!

Brian has been re-enacting one of his favorite movies by destroying his trailer at an outdoor gig and tells us the hilarious tale which contains many, many woes! He concludes that he may not be a camping person and Blake offers some sagely advice. Meanwhile Richard's family continue to inhabit the late 1800's.

Blake has been hanging with Coheed and Cambria and he is stoked about his experience despite Richard trying to drag him to the gutter. He has ended up with GAS and tells us all about it and also tells us of a kitchen based disaster from his past. 

Richard gives us vague clues about a product release this week which coincides with the opening of this year's Guitar Summit in Germany and has a new musical guilty pleasure. Meanwhile Brian is concerned about the rapture. if you are reading this, his concerns were not borne out. He has also been disgusted by Ai.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 582 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Brian is learning to play the guitar again, Blake has a new guitar, and we are all hypocrites

Brian has been stimulating some conversation on the Internet following his recent interview about digital products which got picked up and spun by a few magazine sources. The guys break down the question that caused all the kerfuffle including "that" American Vox and chat about the role of technology in the music world.

Richard is confused by the kids and coins the term Whymenials whilst discussing digital vegans and Brian makes some fierce accusations including one that involves a mullet. Blake makes various camera based confessions and there are some worrying developments before Brian talks about his heavy gig schedule. 

Blake has a new guitar, well kinda, and he tells us all about it during a nostalgic section that involves zero Englishpersons...until the scoundrel returns. There is some 90's country talk and the guys try to educate themselves on Roman numerals and fail. There is also some discussion of the Badinkadinks.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 581 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Brian's video with Rick Beato, Exploding tubes, and the BOSS PX-1

Richard is feverish with excitement about the new Rick Beato interview with David Gilmour whereas Brian and Blake are almost completely nonplussed. This somehow becomes a discussion about pork chops before the guys look at some controversial comments from another ex-member of Pink Floyd. 

Boss have released a new pedal, the PX-1, which is a 'plugin loader' pedal and the guys look into it and have some interesting views about why the Internet shouldn't be as mad as they are. Brian thinks it looks a bit like a LEGO pedal - but that may not be such a bad thing. Do you still use a Wah pedal? Brian sets forth the motion that nobody does any more. 

Brian also managed to nearly set fire to his barn when one of his amps went supernova and he tell us all about it. Richard has a new pedal day with a vintage classic and the guys nerd out about op-amps. Finally Blake is allowed to talk about his new amp day and there is much rejoicing.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 579 of the Chasing Tone Podcast -  Brian's number one guitar buying tip and California dreaming with Tracii Guns and Norman's Rare Guitars 

Richard has been living in the 1980s and has a rant. Meanwhile there was some very tragic news in the world of metal so the guys discuss it despite Internet woes. Closer to home in the pedal industry, Josh Scott from JHS had a nasty accident on his cycle so the guys do their best to send healing powers across the airwaves.

Blake spent a couple of days on the west coast and hung with almost everybody who is anybody! He tells us about his time with the legendary Norm of Norman's Rare Guitars and somehow it involves the Goo Goo Dolls. Brian shares his one tip for picking a great guitar and Blake talks about his time with friend of the show, Mr. Tracii Guns. 

Brian has convinced Richard to buy new gear and there is a modicum of excitement before Bri takes it all straight to the gutter. Blake realizes that he too is becoming old and the guys compare aging woes.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 577 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Introducing the Quad Fusion and why Bruce Dickinson hates your concert footage

Blake has celebrated another year on planet tone and the guys celebrate by discussing the various foodstuffs he consumed. Richard has received a couple of not so mysterious pedals that he is in love with and JHS have teased a new release via the medium of Riddle which he thinks he has solved...maybe. 

Our intrepid Portlandian reporter is also about to interview the head honcho himself from Norman's Rare Guitars and the guys are excited. Brian has a new idea for an battery powered amplifier and the guys discuss portable amplification circuits. Richard spotted a few familiar looking pedals on Gem archer of Oasis' pedalboard and the guys dissect a low resolution image. 

A lot of musicians turn to acting - but what about actors who turn to music - can they cut the mustard? The guys debate this and Richard makes a shock admission. Do you film the concerts you attend? The lead singer of Iron Maiden has shared some views about this and there is some interesting chat about this subject. Blake claims Richard is a monocle wearer.

Brian, Blake, and Richard are back for Episode 575 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - The Prince of Darkness exits stage left and is this the end of JHS?

Richard has lost 25% wisdom and is now at a deficit...he tells us tales of childhood fears and lessons learned before the business of the week is addressed. This turns into a health and weight loss section as our British compatriot has been on the Brian Wampler diet...kind of. Brian meanwhile has been creating new businesses and teases us with the details.

The news that Ozzy Osbourne passed this week takes a big focus for the guys as it has affected everyone to different degrees. Richard tells a story of how his friend went drinking with Ozzy how he discovered Black Sabbath - it may involve a certain legendary pub and a small piece of paper. Yes that sort of paper. Will there ever be another Black Sabbath moment in music? We hope so. 

Brian has become a JCM 800 guy and has eschewed his former Fender amp roots. The UK JHS has announced they are closing - for those that aren't aware they have been one of the UK's biggest distributors of guitar related goodness for about 50 years and Richard laments their demise a little. Finally, a  video came out this week from the guys at Working Class Music asking "is Guitar Youtube too white" and so the guys take a little look at this.

Brian and Richard are back for Episode 573 of the Chasing Tone Podcast - Is the current model for guitar gear demos completely broken? 

Blake has disappeared into an alternate reality for a week's vacation so Brian and Richard take the reins...you have been warned! Richard defied previous wisdom and paid for the stream for the Ozzy Osbourne retirement festival and he is very glad he did. Brian reminisces about the good ole' days and Richard has various half baked opinions about the music he witnessed. 

Richard got the creative urge to record some music and talks us through it and ponders about a particular feeling that he has identified. Brian reminisces about some of his early shopping experiences and goes misty eyed when Richard brings up a certain smell. Yes, you read that correctly. There is also a dubious smuggling tale.
