Stories from Väruld
Stories from the world of Väruld.
Whispers of poems, fragments of lore, and echoes of distant journeys. Some tales unfold in moments, others across many paths. Voices shaped by AI bring the realm to life — diverse, timeless, and just beyond the veil of reality. Updated weekly.
Väruld is a fantasy world I have created, which also includes books with detailed descriptions and novels.
All stories (unless otherwise stated) are written by me, Désirée Nordlund.

Behind the scenes
Three questions about Väruld and this podcast are answered by me, the almighty creator of Väruld :-). Feel free to send in questions for future episodes.
You are listening to stories from Väruld. In this episode, Behind the Scenes Part 1.
HostToday we shall talk a little bit about what is behind the scenes of this podcast, and I have an AI voice representing the creator, Désirée Nordlund, with me today. Can you tell me a little about Väruld?
AI-DésiréeAbsolutely, and thank you for your interest. Väruld is a solar system with three habitual planets. First came Modir, the first mother, which is the sun. Then the Allvaldughers were created, which are the gods of Väruld, and they in turn created the planets and the life on them. One of the Allvaldughers , Sial, the goddess of souls, wanted the souls to change between lives. And so the humans were created. That is the background lore, in short.
HostThat's so interesting, but we have to return to this subject in a later episode, I'm afraid. You use AI voices for this podcast. Why is that?
AI-DésiréeThe use of AI voices is mainly a financial question. I don't have the money to find and record actors reading my texts, nor the space to have a proper studio. It would be a huge project I would never start. One of the fantastic advantages of AI tools is that it gives more people the ability to follow their dreams. It is also a plus that once the text is written, it takes me maybe three hours to have an episode ready.
HostHow did you came up with the idea of Väruld?
AI-DésiréeMany years ago, I wrote a short script for a contest where I got some very fixed frames. I remember it had to include a warrior. I wanted to stand out, so I made my warrior an 80-year-old woman. I liked her. Later I wrote two novels with her too. As I started to write role-playing adventures, I realized I needed some larger context to them and combined the fantasy world for the novels with my roleplay adventures. Though the world in those two novels was vastly underdeveloped, I kept the magic and a few places and created Väruld.
HostAnd this was all for this time, dear listeners.
