SPEAKER_00

Welcome back to the Tyler Reagan Exchange. Today I have Caleb Thoman on. He is the guy that schedules everything for us when it comes to our podcast. He's also used to be in my youth group. He's someone I count as a good friend and someone that loves Star Wars almost as much as me. Maybe a little bit more. But I hope you enjoy the podcast.

SPEAKER_01

I've never been on a podcast before.

SPEAKER_00

This is your first ever with a microphone in your hand. This is well No, because you did senior thesis. Thesis? Thesis?

SPEAKER_01

Senior thesis. Thesis.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You had a mic. I had a mic. I mean I've had mics before, but this is like more just like you know chill. Yeah, chill. That's what makes it nerve-wracking. Like I can speak in public speak.

SPEAKER_00

So like standing, you would rather stand in front of a platform speak to people with a microphone, look at 150 different thousand people and speak than sit here and talk to me on a microphone.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, probably because I've done it multiple times, and this is like the first time it's like you know what's hard?

SPEAKER_00

Radio.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I was on the radio.

SPEAKER_00

I was on the radio one time. That was nerve-wracking. Oof. Because it's live and you're on a mic in front of nobody. Yeah, that's actually we've been on the radio twice. I was on the radio for a ministry and then Bryson was on the radio. I was just holding, I was trying to keep Bryson from trying to jump out of my hands. Yeah. So Bonnie did most of the talking for that one.

SPEAKER_01

That's sick. That's sick. Yeah, I feel like I just fumble really quick if I was on the radio. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I definitely would have if Bonnie wasn't there to save me. Um so we've been saving this conversation really until just now.

SPEAKER_01

Which one? Star Wars. Okay, because I was about to say there's a few conversations that we were saving, and I was hoping it wasn't the others because those are more like personal. Now I have to bring up that. No, you will not. No, you will not. Cut. Cut this non- No, let's bring it up. Let's talk about it.

SPEAKER_00

No, let's talk about it. Come on, please. I'll talk to you after the podcast. I just wanted to know about Purdue, man. What the heck?

SPEAKER_01

Okay. You literally suck. Well, guys. Alright, let's start with Star Wars. Okay, I was about to say it could be more like.

SPEAKER_00

So obviously we're both excited, you probably more than me, about because I'm more of a Marvel guy. But Star Wars is like a really close segment for me. Yeah. Right? Um, so you're but you're more of a Star Wars guy. And could care less about Marvel, right?

SPEAKER_01

No, I love Marvel. I mean, I watched like two Marvel movies the other day. I watched Infinity War and I also watched um Civil War. Civil War is the best movie.

SPEAKER_00

Civil War is the best Marvel movie.

SPEAKER_01

Best Marvel movie out there. But then I also watch more Star Wars. Like I watched Star Wars 2 the other day. Did you like Andor? Fun fact that is the one series I have not watched. Are you refusing to watch it or you just have to I've watched the first three episodes two times, and then my coworker, um, she keeps telling me to re-watch it and it gets better, but like those three episodes, those are like she's not wrong. They're just like a pain in the butt.

SPEAKER_00

But it's still not a great show.

SPEAKER_01

Really? I don't think it is. I heard it's like one of the best ones. You don't even watch it. That's what that's why I said I heard.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_00

Not I've seen it. But you can't argue with me based on what you've heard.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but I've heard like multiple people say that, and you're just like one person that said that.

SPEAKER_00

It's mid.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. I'll let you know. All right. Watch it. I'm watching it this summer.

SPEAKER_00

The best Star Wars movie is what?

SPEAKER_01

Revenge of the Sith.

SPEAKER_00

I agree.

SPEAKER_01

I was about to say, if you say like Oh no, it's nine, it's like new hoops or something like that. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

No I personally I struggle watching the original trilogy.

SPEAKER_01

I do.

SPEAKER_00

I just watch it for the I know I'm supposed to love it, and I do, and I respect it, and like it has all of the honor I can give it. But it's just tough to watch. It is because acting's not great. It's just an older it's an older movie, it's tough to watch. The animations are difficult. But like they did great for what they the time, like yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I'm glad when I watch like Star Wars.

SPEAKER_00

I'm probably gonna get grilled for that.

SPEAKER_01

I wasn't old enough to watch four, five, six first, and then one, two, three. I'm the same way. Started one, yeah. So it's kind of nice.

SPEAKER_00

I'm the same.

SPEAKER_01

You're not that old yet.

SPEAKER_00

When did when did that come out? When did um Phantom Menace come out? Phantom Menace. It's gotta be 2000. Yeah. 2001.

unknown

1999.

SPEAKER_01

So you were born, but you just so old, dude. That's crazy. Were you born?

SPEAKER_00

1999 is crazy. You were 90. I was what?

SPEAKER_01

1990.

SPEAKER_00

You're trying to figure out when I was born? Six. 1996. Yeah, y'all are so funny. All y'all are funny people. You're all funny people.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, you said in the last podcast you're 29. You were the one who said you're old.

SPEAKER_00

You are correct. Yeah. I didn't say I was old, I said how old I was.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, in saying that, you just say that you're old. Um, do you like the most recent three movies? Anything with Ray in it just is yeah, it is actually a nightmare.

SPEAKER_00

You know what's crazy? Okay, yeah. Mason Rose likes the most recent threes. Is that not cra Suck a Toe is wild?

SPEAKER_01

I'm sorry. I don't know. Is that not wild?

SPEAKER_00

Like in Sano crazy. I don't know anyone that likes Star Wars that's like, yeah, the best three, the most recent.

SPEAKER_01

I know people that it's not like the best three, but they're like the one of the top three movies is like one of their top three movies is that's crazy to me.

SPEAKER_00

It is like when she says that she is a Skywalker. I I don't think there's been an anger.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think I've ever wanted to chug my remote at my TV.

SPEAKER_00

Can you explain to me why she's a Skywalker? No, because no, she's just not. No, can you explain why?

SPEAKER_01

I gotta think back.

SPEAKER_00

You can't, it's the dumbest line of thinking.

SPEAKER_01

It's literally like a long just trail of like stupidity right there.

SPEAKER_00

So basically, I identify as a Skywalker.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It's like I don't give a crap.

SPEAKER_01

And then she's like, and then now I'm a Jedi, and then does that weird like lightsaber fight with Kylo Wren where she holds it backward, she's like, ooh, and like it's so dumb. And she just like starts hitting him, and then she's like, see what I did there? I hit a lightsaber with a lightsaber. Like, what the heck is your problem, girl? Like, I did not realize you got that much hate for her. Yeah, it's terrible. You can't stand her. Speaking of lightsaber scenes, I had to ask you. I mean, I know you're supposed to ask questions, but like, what is your favorite lightsaber scene? Because there's a lot, it could be in Clone Wars, it can be in the new movies.

SPEAKER_00

It's crazy. But I don't feel like that should count. Because that's animation.

SPEAKER_01

I think it should count because I have one specific scene in mind, and it's like oh, you think it should count because you have an answer from there? Yeah, of course. Like that when you watch it, you will know it's your favorite immediately. You'll be like, this this is the best.

SPEAKER_00

I didn't know that that's true. Because I I kind of have a uh Should I be open this somewhere? I have a random take. I don't know if it's the best lightsaber. It's my favorite memory. It's um it's random, but it's with uh General Grievous and Obi-Wan. That is I watched that last night. I really enjoy that scene.

SPEAKER_01

Peak when he pulls out four lightsabers.

SPEAKER_00

I know it's like obviously from Revenge of the Sith, Anakin, and Obi-Wan, like that's iconic. Yeah, and the fact that everyone's favorite. Yeah, it's everyone's favorite, and the fact that they like rehears like their rehearsal to do like because they did all that, yeah. Like they prepared and planned every single step of that scene, and both of them learned it and did it. That's impressive, yeah. But there's just something about the I'm a big Obi-Wan fan. So the Obi-Wan interaction, and also Obi-Wan and Anakin or Obi-Wan and uh Darth Vader in the Obi-Wan series, that was their fight was kind of fire. That is one of my top three. That one's good. So what scene are you thinking about?

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so I don't remember what planet it's on, but when Anakin and Um Count Dooku and Obi-Wan, like Anakin and Obi-Wan, they go to confront Count Dooku on something, but then they have that lifesaver scene. And I don't know. I tried to pull it up for today, but it just I couldn't find it. But it was basically when Count Dooku was like destroying them both because Anakin, I might have this reversed, but Anakin is plays more offense and Obi-Wan plays more defense. Um Count Dooku like switched the roles and he like pressured Obi-Wan with or no, he pressured um Anakin with like attacks, attacks and stuff, and then made force and it forced Obi-Wan, and it was like the most like the most peak scene because like the fact that he even thought of that and still was like destroying them, yeah. And he's like 1v2, that is crazy. For however old he is, he was like ancient. I know he has the forces. But I was about to say settle down, but I'm just saying, like, that is it's just insane. Like how he's moving and stuff, making one on offense, one on defense, and flipping their like skills.

SPEAKER_00

That's a very well thought-out belief. Crazy. I like that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I watch it and then I watch it like three times over again when I first watch Clone Wars.

SPEAKER_00

I bet that new Darth Moore series is gonna have a lot of sick um saber fights. Oh, a hundred percent.

SPEAKER_01

I I really hope so. Like in the um in the trailer, it has some. I'm like, oh, I just can't wait. Like the title when he like goes to the side and like the lightsaber like goes with it, that is one of the coolest things, I think.

SPEAKER_00

How many times have you watched the trailer for that? Twice, two times, two times. You should watch it another time. Why not?

SPEAKER_01

Just like third times of charm, just like understand.

SPEAKER_00

You could unlock something.

SPEAKER_01

I'll try.

SPEAKER_00

You'll see something be like, dude, I know it's gonna happen now.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I highly doubt that. I'm not that good at like stuff, but I wish.

SPEAKER_00

Have you done any like reading in with Star Wars?

SPEAKER_01

I don't read, I'm dyslexic. For those of you who don't know, yeah, it's just like reading's not my specialty. I do read the Bible, just so you know. I do read the Bible, but it takes me like an hour to read my daily Bible chapters. I don't read, I'm dyslexic. Yeah, okay. Yeah, well, like, I mean, it makes sense. I just like I'd rather watch or listen. That's fair, I guess.

SPEAKER_00

I yeah. Oh my goodness. I just don't read. So, um, but you read your Bible, and that's really the most important thing. Yeah. Um Is there any other so we talked about this earlier? You hate rebels. Well, you don't hate rebels. Storyline's good, animation's weird. Yes, animation is good. What's the other one? The other animated is Clone Wars, Rebels, and one other. Like you know what I'm talking about?

SPEAKER_01

Tales of the Jedi and Tales of the Empire?

SPEAKER_00

Maybe. No, I don't think that's it. Because there's another animation style that I don't like. I guess we don't know a lot about Star Wars. Did you watch the Ahsoka show? I did. Three times. Three times? I watched Star Wars. You're that big of an Ahsoka fan?

SPEAKER_01

Ahsoka, I think, not I think, top three. All time Star Wars.

SPEAKER_00

Shows or no, not just the show.

SPEAKER_01

Sorry. Jedi character. She's not even a Jedi anymore. She's just a character. Like top three characters would be her, Darth Maul. No.

SPEAKER_00

You better take Darth Maul out of that.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, no, whoa.

SPEAKER_00

That's recency biased.

SPEAKER_01

Whoa.

SPEAKER_00

That's recency biased.

SPEAKER_01

And if it wasn't for Anakin and Obi-Wan are tied for one, then it goes Ahsoka. No, you can't tie. And it's just like they both have their like peak.

SPEAKER_00

Number one is Anakin slash Darth Vader. Yeah. It's a beautiful storyline of difficult, like the struggle of his struggle with the Jedi Council and what the Jedi Council did to Ahsoka, and all the different things. But then he came back and was like, dude, this Emperor is kind of a butthole. So he's one. Two. So Yoda's off the list. Yoda's off your top three.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Yoda's off. I love Yoda so much, but he's off. Because Mace Windows is off your Ahsoka is like when she took down the um Inquisitor, was like Inquisitors are really just their top notch sometimes. And that one with the double lightsaber, she took him down with like using the force, just like closing his lightsaber, opening it up, killing him. That was peak moment. And that's when I was like, Ahsoka's her.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like a lot of people would disagree with you.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, a lot of people do. I've had conversations, they're like Ahsoka sucks. Well, okay, I don't think that yeah, they think it's so annoying. They're like, it should be um top three, like Jedi Masters or something like that. No, I don't think so.

SPEAKER_00

Because yeah, Jedi Masters and characters are two different things. Yeah, and that's allowed.

SPEAKER_01

Now, if you say any like Star Wars character like with a blaster, like Han Solo is your favorite, that's when I really disagree with you. If if he's in your top three, that's okay. Top one, no. I'm not doing Han Solo. Like I just I love Han Solo. What is wrong?

SPEAKER_00

I'm just listening.

SPEAKER_01

Sorry guys, I lost my voice, so my voice cuts out.

SPEAKER_00

No, I was I was waiting. I was trying to think of Rex is pretty great.

SPEAKER_01

Rex is pretty great, but would you put him above Obi-Wan Anakin? Would you put him above Soka Yoda?

SPEAKER_00

I think I might. I think Rex is probably the best Star Wars character.

SPEAKER_01

You're you're joking.

SPEAKER_00

No, I think I feel that way. I think Rex is the best character, like character development. He had a twist and a turn. I think Rex is probably better than all of them now that I think about it. Okay. You're handling this really well.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you. I even prayed before I came to just like, if I disagree, to just like have a piece about it. I don't think Rex is the best. I was about to say, what is wrong with you mentally? Like, should I be praying for you? Like watching Star Wars now?

SPEAKER_00

I do need to watch more Star Wars. I want to I guess I need to rewatch Andor because I thought it was kind of mid, but apparently I haven't watched it. We'll watch it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I was about to say, we'll watch it right after um May the 4th, because that's when.

SPEAKER_00

May the fourth be with you.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, you want to know a fun story? I was at McDonald's. May the 4th was like Sunday or Wednesday because we watched McDonald's. Okay. And I went there and my order number was 66. And I took a picture, I posted it, I was like, this is so cool. And then everyone was like, That is pretty cool. Everyone just like was like, You're such a nerd. I don't care. Like, that is like Do you consider yourself a nerd? Depends on with what.

SPEAKER_00

Do you think your black belt would disagree with that? My black belt?

SPEAKER_01

I mean a nerd in what?

SPEAKER_00

Your fifth one. My fifth one. Your fifth black belt?

SPEAKER_01

I don't have a fifth black belt.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you do.

SPEAKER_01

I have a fourth black.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but the fifth is coming.

SPEAKER_01

Fifth is coming in four years.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but that's what I'm saying. Your fifth, it's all it's all coming.

SPEAKER_01

Do you know what I want to do? I was talking to my mom.

SPEAKER_00

Have a Star Wars dojo. No.

SPEAKER_01

You know what Malachi sent us the other day? And didn't heck no, I'm never doing that. That is like, I'm like, Malachi, you're messing up.

SPEAKER_00

Malachi sent us a video the other day of a class that taught how to fight with a saber. And it was these bunch of full-grown adults fighting with sabers. It was Malachi dozen. And I was like, Malachi said it's he said, is this what you guys want to do? Shut up, Malachi.

SPEAKER_01

No one cares.

SPEAKER_00

He's such a hater, dude.

SPEAKER_01

Anyway, what I want to do is like in four years, I can I'm eligible to test for my fifth degree. And um I was just talking because I like um I want to get a tattoo for it because I feel like that's like a moment where I and I'm pretty much committed to Taekwondo at this point. I've been doing it for like nine, ten years or something like that. Um, but I want to get, I don't know where. I saw this guy, he had like um bars here, but it was for like the lives he saved because he was in the army and it was the lives he saved, but I want to get that with degrees. Oh, that's like just bars, and then having Korean on the side, like um you count like first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and it's like ha nah the little set from there down.

SPEAKER_00

I think that'd be kind of cool. That'd be really sick.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know if it's on my ribs or on my arm or something like that, but I you just got a tattoo, your first tattoo.

SPEAKER_00

I did get it. What does it say?

SPEAKER_01

It says Galatians 6 9. I don't know if you can see what is it?

SPEAKER_00

What is it? Oh, what does that verse say?

unknown

Sorry.

SPEAKER_01

Um, Galatians 6 9 is let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time, we'll reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up. How do you have it? Many different reasons. So there's um the main reason is so I went to my first missions trip um two years ago? Yeah, I'd say about two years ago, um, is when I went and it was to Peru. And sorry, one second, I gotta get some water.

SPEAKER_00

It was two years ago. It'll be three years this summer because you missed camp for it two years ago, and you went to camp this past year.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. So I went to Peru um and I went with like my old church, and they invited me. It was I really didn't know what to think about it yet because I had never been on a missions trip, and I thought my first one should be like in the states and stuff, and just like more local. But then um Lord told me I should go. He provided the money for me to go and everything, and it was just a great experience, but the Lord truly showed me what this verse means in um doing the Lord's will. So um, long story short, we were just serving at a church there, and um there was this outreach that we were gonna do. It was like a sports outreach. We were playing basketball and it was like a basketball tournament there, it was super fun, and I don't play bat play basketball, but I was like, I'll just do it because they need an extra person. Right. So I go there and I start warming up and everything. And um Denny, the guy I was going with, he just walked up to me as I was getting ready to play the game and he said, Hey, I feel like the Lord is telling you to speak at halftime. And I was like halftime. And I was like, You're you're what? Like he's telling me, like you he's going through you to tell me to um speak at halftime. And I was like, about what? And he was like, just preach the gospel, whatever the Lord feels you, and I was like, that is crazy, and I was like, I've never done anything like that, but that was one reason that the Lord had me there for, I feel like, was to show me the meaning of this verse and to show that like doing what he's called you to do, there's rewards for that in the end. And so I spoke, and it's a little scary speaking with that because I wasn't I'm I can publicly speak. It was I was having the fear of misrepresenting God and what the Bible says, and so I mean, I feel like everyone on their first mission trip has that feeling at some point, or maybe not everyone, but some people do, yeah. And so I spoke and they speak Spanish, so I had to have an interpreter, which also scared me because I didn't want to say too much that couldn't be interpreted. Um, so there's that, and then when I got up there, had the microphone and everything, it was probably a little over a hundred people that I was speaking to, and I couldn't tell you what I said. The Lord literally just like I've all my nerves just went away. It felt like I was just talking to one person that I've known for a long time. Yeah, and it was the craziest experience, and that was when the Lord showed me like um doing what is good and doing what he has called you to do.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um doing that, and the blessing after that, I I prayed right before I went up there and I said, I just pray that someone is touched by this. Yeah, and you have me here doing this for a reason. There's this one guy, he came up to me at the end and he was just like, Thanks for saying that. Like he had broken English, but he was like, Thanks for doing that, that means a lot, and stuff. And he said, Can I pray with you? And I was like, Yeah, of course. Like he was struggling, and I could tell, but he just thanked me for that, and I was like, Now I know the Lord, that's the reason you wanted me to speak there. I was nervous out of my mind playing the basketball game. I was like, now I gotta go speak to like hundreds of people, but it was truly amazing. And then the next day I um went to a place called Miraflores and we just preached the gospel there. And again, the Lord showed me like doing his will, there will be blessings coming out of it. And someone um that we invited to church, um, just in this random town, 20 some odd minutes away, they ended up driving there and going to the church that Sunday. Thank you. So I was like, this is just like the Lord just completely blessed that. And so like there, and then my parents used um this verse um when I graduated. My parents were able to go up with me and stuff, and they just used that verse when I graduated, and I've used it to share my testimony before, and it's just I love it.

SPEAKER_00

So your verse, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I love it. And so how was your

SPEAKER_00

First tattoo experience?

SPEAKER_01

It was great.

SPEAKER_00

It was sweet and simple. Sweet and simple.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was it was very it was like 20 minutes. Jason did a really good job, and I mean Malikai was there too, and he got in You went first, right? I went first, and so I was like, this is not what I thought it'd feel like at all. Yeah. And then um it was it was awesome. Like we were there for a total of like three hours, I think. And I had to go to work right after that, so I was like on a time crunch. So three hours was all I had, right? But Jason made it the experience. We talked to him like the whole entire time, and just it was amazing.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, y'all are different than me. Y'all talk to Jason, bro. I put my headphones on really disappear. Well, you got you also I am in there for like seven hours.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's like crazy.

SPEAKER_00

I'm trying to get through as many movies as I possibly can in that seven hours.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, hey, I mean Star Wars. Watch Star Wars.

SPEAKER_00

I've done the Marvel. I haven't done a Star Wars. I guess I'll do that for my next session.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um be sick.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So are you on any other mission trips here soon?

SPEAKER_01

Um, I was supposed to go back to Peru last year, uh, and then something ended up happening and no one went, right? No one went. Yeah. Um so they're trying to do it again. As what I know, they're trying to do it again. And I feel like the Lord was telling me to go back there, and so then um I don't know when, but I feel like the Lord has me to go back there sometime. Right. Which will be really cool because I mean met a lot of new people there. Um the Lord showed me so many things, and I want the Lord to show me things again and share the gospel there.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like he did last time. So what uh oh dude, what I don't know. You just like stir like uh I was just gonna ask um what your plans are when it comes to taekwondo.

SPEAKER_00

Ooh. I was gonna ask something else, but I changed my mind. I'm gonna ask that.

SPEAKER_01

Thanks. Okay. Um my plans right now, so I have to do schooling. Um, so right now with Taekwondo, I teach kids. Um, I teach any age from three years old all the way to however old. Um, I also teach adults too, which is really nice. I love teaching adults. I love teaching kids. I really have a passion for teaching kids, and so I feel like Lord has opened the door for me to um open my own Taekwondo school.

SPEAKER_00

Yep.

SPEAKER_01

And with my boss, he's been like super supportive of me doing this. He's helping me every step of the way and doing it. And so hopefully in the next couple years, I'm able to open my own school and do what?

SPEAKER_00

Where at?

SPEAKER_01

Um, I don't know. Hopefully, like somewhere, like maybe Greensboro Oak Ridge area-ish. I feel like that'd be really awesome. But yeah. I'm I'm really excited to do that. Do I?

SPEAKER_00

Trinity, Jamestown. There's so many good options.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so you can just it could be next to you.

SPEAKER_00

Who is else is gonna teach Bryson Taekwondo? I'll teach him.

unknown

Hey, you guys have free will. You can do whatever you want.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I'll just buy a house in our neighborhood. I can buy a house.

SPEAKER_01

That would be nice.

SPEAKER_00

That'd be nice. Like Barney said earlier.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I mean that would be fire, but first I gotta think of the own school.

SPEAKER_00

Then you gotta get married.

SPEAKER_01

I guess I gotta get married. Thanks for reminding me that I have no No, we got great options out there.

SPEAKER_00

We chillin'.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, I'm alone. You know, I got the Lord. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You got the Lord? I think you have some options.

SPEAKER_01

I have I have a option. We're not gonna say, but you have an option? No, it's no, he thinks I have an option. I don't think I have an option, but don't talk to the camera talking to me. I am, I'm oh no. Yeah. Um, so we're gonna stop this conversation right now. Cause it's just reminding me of more single I am, so yeah. Um my goodness. Sorry, guys, my voice is Joey. Cut it right here. Oh no. It's all good.

SPEAKER_00

It's all good. All right, Joey, we back. I feel like I just looked weird cross back. Do you write down the timestamps? I just took a picture. That's fine. Um Oh wait, we gotta take another picture.

SPEAKER_01

One second. Okay. Because now we're back.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

So I was curious, do you think the Duke's gonna win the national championship?

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Do you actually? Yes. Do you watch a lot of Duke basketball?

SPEAKER_01

Duke basketball, yes. Basketball in general, not as much.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, so you have no clue what the competition looks like.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I have more idea now than I did like last year and stuff because like I've been watching. You've been watching it more? Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Malachi's trying to watch it more too.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he was trying to watch it more too, but y'all should start watching it together.

SPEAKER_00

Take notes, stuff like that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I feel like that's just weird. Like for Malachi. No, for Malachi me. Like, we just don't do that. We just don't do that. Like, we just watch like Did you make a bracket? Um, I started a bracket and I never finished it.

SPEAKER_00

But I do think How do you start a bracket and not finish it?

SPEAKER_01

Well, because I had I had to go to work. I had to go to work and I was planning on finishing it, and it's still on my desk, not finished. But the tournament already started, so I was like, well, now everything. Now you could have the perfect. Everyone's gonna just write it up. I'm just like dumb now. You're dumb? Because I'm like choosing all these teams and like I didn't do it in time and stuff. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

You could literally fill out and get all the right teams now.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and cheat.

SPEAKER_00

I love cheating.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe that's who you are. You could be like me. No, I don't want to be a cheater. Whatever. It's okay.

SPEAKER_00

You cheat at um nerds all the time. You what? You cheat at nerds all the time.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

I have not cheated at nerds, you just you've cheated every single time we have three guards.

SPEAKER_01

I was not planning on talking about this, but I'm just saying, like, you have said this every time, and I wasn't invited to nerds one time. And I was a little upset because I don't care. He thought I cheated because I beat him in the first two games that I played, and Bonnie and I beat who else? Joey, Garrett, Charlotte was there, and everything. And then next two times they invited me back, and I was like, hey, I'm gonna play nerds today.

SPEAKER_00

Do you think you were we were upset with you for winning?

SPEAKER_01

Honestly, yeah, because I think you were just trying to be a sore loser, but then I thought about it, and then I was like, he might just be mad at me because I was just talking.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but who was be running that mouth, dude.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but who ran their mouth right back at me?

SPEAKER_00

Not me. I was just mad. You did. All I said was you cheated. That's the only thing I said. That's enough to hurt you. If I talk, if I talk junk, I'm going to make you cry. Bonnie, is this true? When I talk junk, I try to stab you in the heart. Well, what I think people like playing games with me.

SPEAKER_01

I like playing games because I beat you. Okay, that's the last thing I'm gonna say, so I can be invited to nerds again. I like being in love. Good for you. I fine, man. You said almost right there with you, you said I fine, man. Your voice corrected everything. I know, it's so bad. These allergies are killing me, and I'll also working with mold the other day. I was working with mold, and I was working at someone's house, and it wasn't just the mold, but it was the allergies. I was outside, then I went, and there was a little bit of mold that I was breathing into, and then the allergies just killed it, and then I lost my voice the other day. It's really bad. Then I had to go to work, which was I didn't have to. I went to work. I went to work and I lost my voice. It was so bad. So bad, but yeah, that's why my voice is cutting out a little bit. Hopefully, it makes a funny podcast.

SPEAKER_00

It is gonna make a great podcast. That lasts a little bit. Hopefully, while um is there anything else you want to talk about? Um, let me think. We hit on a lot of topics. We hit on all of the topics, we hit on a lot of topics.

unknown

A lot of topics.

SPEAKER_01

What other topics we hit on a lot. We hit basically everything Star Wars. Okay, so you talked about it a little bit with Bonnie. What do you think about the house church? Oh, dude, I'm so excited. What are you guys' plans with the house church?

SPEAKER_00

So the goal, this is the first time I've really gotten to talk about it a lot. The goal is to see our entire neighborhood come to Christ. And if they haven't already, or if they have already, to embolden people to live it out. Um, I think the greatest hurt that I have as a follower of Christ is watching the church of like the body of Christ in America sit in pews and do nothing. And I think that um the model that we're going with, the goal is to be so relational and so intense in our love for one another and our love for the community around us that we actually make an impact on the community. Um, so much so, like I did this for like two or three weeks. I would like to ask different clients or ask different friends that didn't go to church, some were atheist, some were just didn't care, some were like used to be at church, but they didn't, and the question I kept asking was take religion out of it, take it out. How could the church positively change the world? And it's so simple, the things that they would respond with. Yeah, like one of them was like, um, like actually take care of the poor, don't just give money to them. It's a very very distinct difference, right? It's one thing to throw money at somebody on the side of the road, it's another thing to bring them into your house.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, or another thing to actually sit down and talk to them on the side of the road, and especially when you said with Bonnie, like you're bringing the beds there, might try to have some homeless people in there, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And then also, which we'll see if that happens. Also I have to protect my child. Um, I can't just have Rando sleeping in bed in the beds in our house. Um, but yeah, so like that, and then like another thing is like one of them was like pay taxes. I was like, I mean, interesting take. Yeah, that's it. Um, but uh at the same time, kind of valid. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um that's true.

SPEAKER_00

But it I don't know. Uh that I think the biggest thing for me, um, and the thing I'm most excited about is to have a body of believers together that care more about bringing heaven here than bringing someone to church. That's does that make sense?

SPEAKER_01

That is amazing. So write that down in your notes, guys.

SPEAKER_00

Right. Take notes. So that I just feel like a lot of time, and this is not a diss on anything that happens regularly. Like, I'm not trying to like tear down something, but at the same time, like I do believe that more people are focused on bringing people to church than than bringing them to Jesus. And I'll that's what that's what I think most of the New Testament is talking about, is like the elders and the saints, their jobs are not to preach always. Like, obviously, they're supposed to um teach the the scriptures, but their job is to equip the saints. Yeah, we're as leaders and pastors and elders, the job is to equip believers to share the gospel, to bring people into their homes, to take care of the widows, to take care of the orphans. It's not the church, it's not the the pastor or the elder's job to do that. It is the body of Christ's job to do that. And it's not our job to just give money to an organization and just be like, yeah, they're gonna handle it for me. No, yeah, it's your job to do it, and so that's kind of the goal was to equip the saints to do the work of the ministry and not be the ones that just do it for them.

SPEAKER_01

That's awesome. That's awesome. I feel like with house church, like we are the church, not just the building. So like that was the biggest thing for like people, like we have a house church too, as well. And like, um, I feel like it's just a lot more personal, and like with a smaller group of people, it doesn't veer away from what like the Lord has for you, your plans and stuff. Yeah, like I feel like it's just sorry, pause. Your keys are right there right there. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Who put him here? Me. I did. So go ahead.

SPEAKER_01

Um yeah, I just feel like especially for me, like going from a bigger church and then going to a smaller, just house church with like 25 people in it. Right. It's a it's a huge difference, and you have a lot more like like for me going from a bigger church to a smaller church, my personal relationship with the Lord completely changed. Right. I wouldn't say I had like a strong relationship or a relationship with the Lord when I was at a bigger church because I was veered away from what the meaning of church is. Right. And so um I definitely feel like house church, it brings a lot of people closer to Christ and with um like what the Lord has called you to do. Yeah, I agree.

SPEAKER_00

Like that's I don't know if that makes sense.

SPEAKER_01

No, it definitely does.

SPEAKER_00

I didn't I didn't even see it. I was so locked in on what you were saying.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I was locked. Well, I wasn't locked because I was watching that, but I was watching and talking and yeah, but um yeah, super excited.

SPEAKER_00

I'm also writing a book about it, so we'll see how long that takes me. Awesome. We'll see. I'm just working on the I've got an outline and like a chapter. So we're just chilling. That's awesome. See what happens.

SPEAKER_01

That's so cool.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe they could just sit on a computer and do nothing.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I don't read, but I will read that.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I'll get the audible version out for you.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you. Like whatever the book is by TV.

SPEAKER_00

I'll even you're just like the audible. The audible part, I will even have like in the forward, I'll be like, this audible book is specifically for Caleb.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you. Yeah, I mean, I don't mind reading, it's just like But you also hate it. I can't like I can't like understand reading. So that's fair. Because you have dyslexia, and then I also have ADD and like ADHD and all those You have all the A's, the A's and D's and ADHDs and the ADs just gonna stop all in the head. But but I'm behind. I don't know. Um I also think like because we recently started like discipleship, that has really helped me with like understanding and that'll be more intense once we once I get the move out of the way and stuff like that.

SPEAKER_00

But it's just been a busy time right now.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, no, that makes sense. The reading part is is very important to it. The reading part is helped me a lot, like y'all might make fun of me, but I read like it takes me probably 45 minutes to an hour to read and write notes on the chapter because I read in NLT, go back to NKJV and then go to NLT because I prefer NLT, I just understand it a little bit better, but I have to read it at least like two times, and then but my regular Bible, I like to do that, so I take notes in my Bible and stuff, highlight in my Bible, but that's NKJV, and then I go back to NLT and write my notes and stuff. Why don't you just get an NLT button? Well, because I really like this Bible and I think it really helps just going through translations, it's fair, and it like helps you or not help you, but it helps me to like understand specifically what they're talking about.

SPEAKER_00

That's fair, that makes sense.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, you can listen to someone say the same thing over and over, but sometimes when it's reworded, you understand it better. Right. So that makes sense. That's just how my brain works sometimes.

SPEAKER_00

You keep working the way you want to work.

SPEAKER_01

I'm trying, I'm trying. Sometimes it ain't working though. That's a fact, dude. That's a fact. Sometimes it is not working. Like Malachi the other day, we like read it together and stuff, and then he was just like, You don't have any notes. I was like, I haven't read it like twice yet. Like I need to at least read it twice. Like, just chill, okay?

SPEAKER_00

Talking crap about people in his notes.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that is so true. Twice. Two times, I think twice. Of course. All right, buddy.

SPEAKER_00

That was a good podcast. It's very coming to be
