Lismore Regional Gallery Talks
Talks and events from Lismore Regional Gallery's rich and responsive program.
Lismore Regional Gallery has been a cornerstone of cultural life in the Northern Rivers region for over seventy years. As one of the longest-running art institutions in New South Wales, the gallery has consistently championed the transformative power of art. Its work spans exhibitions across all contemporary disciplines, the commissioning of new artworks, inclusive and dynamic public programs, and the care and reinterpretation of a growing permanent collection. The gallery fosters innovation and progressive risk-taking to captivate audiences and strengthen community connection to contemporary art.

In conversation: The ArtHitects, Gary Carsley and Renjie Teoh
Using only an office copier and reams of A4 paper the ArtHitects (Gary Carsley and Renjie Teoh) create immersive installations at the confluence of their separate practices as artist and architect. Hannah Halle, a new commission for Lismore Regional Gallery, is composed from over 4,000 individual A4 prints to symbolically reimagine the prized Hannah Cabinet by Geoffrey Hannah OAM.
The prints were applied ritualistically to the gallery walls in the weeks leading up to the exhibition opening, providing a multi-perspectival mise en scène featuring contributions from local artists Holly Ahern, Bronwyn Bancroft, René Bolten, Amanda Bromfield, Daniel Browning, Lisa Carsley Dowall, Jan Davis, Kathryn Dolby, Claudie Frock, Geoffrey Hannah OAM, Lindy Lee AO, Matt O'Brien, Aris Prabawa, Araby Steen, Marian Tubbs, Alan Ussher, and Wojak.
Hosted by curator Ineke Dane, this conversation explores the concepts, rituals, and processes behind the creation of the exhibition. The talk took place on Sunday, September 29, 2024, the opening weekend of the restored Gallery, post the devastating 2022 flood events.
