Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this episode of The XFed, Reinette Foster shares why Financial Literacy Month is the perfect time to take control of your financial future.
With nearly a decade of experience as a financial advisor, and 27 years as a federal employee, Reinette breaks down the reality that only a small percentage of Americans have a true financial plan in place… and what that could mean for your future.
She also introduces a series of free, educational workshops in partnership with Society for Financial Awareness designed to help individuals and families build clarity and confidence around their finances.
In this episode, you’ll discover:
- Why having a financial plan is more important than ever
- The key areas most people overlook (retirement, taxes, estate planning, and more)
- How federal benefits and Social Security fit into a bigger financial picture
- What makes these workshops different (no selling, just education)
- How you can attend live or virtually—no matter your stage of life
Whether you're a federal employee, transitioning out, or simply looking to get organized financially, this episode is a great starting point.

Hey y'all, this is Renette again. Wanted to come to you and make you aware that April is Financial Literacy Month. And I'm teaming up with SOFA, the Society for Financial Awareness, to offer free financial literacy workshops, both in-person and virtual. The workshops are aligned with SOFA's mission statement just perfectly, seeking to end financial literacy across America, one community at a time. And anyone that knows me knows this is something that's near and dear to my heart, has been for a very, very long time. As a member of SOFA and a financial advisor for almost a decade, wow, that sounds strange to say. And having been a federal employee myself for 27 years, I have the opportunity to provide a wide range of topics with the workshops. They can include retirement planning, understanding Social Security, estate planning, tax planning, and of course, federal benefits as a whole. Studies continue to point out that about 3% of Americans have little to no financial plan for their future. With April being financial literacy month, it's a perfect opportunity for people to access the education that we offer with SOFA and develop a strategy for their own monies moving forward. Make sure you have a plan. SOFA workshops help attendees structure goals and continue to work on the challenges of their own daily financial situation in future. Stop sticking your head in the sand and actually make a plan and work the plan. Our non-selling workshops are designed to benefit people, young or old, doesn't make any difference, believe it or not, and help them move in the right direction. I cannot tell you the number of times I've had someone say, Well, I've got too long to work for me to really be talking about retirement planning. But if you weren't maximizing your retirement strategy, when would you want to know? And when would you want to make a change? My bet is that would be today. SOFA's been around since 1993, made up of financial professionals much like myself, who donate our time and our expertise in the communities by conducting these workshops. We do these workshops in libraries, communities, centers, different companies, places of worship, as well as virtually all across the country. So take a minute, subscribe to the channel, check out my last webinar that I did that was called Strategies for Sustainable Retirement, and the very first one as well. Be sure by subscribing or by subscribing, you'll be sure to continue to receive information as we drop new ones. And there will be a new webinar dropping or a new podcast dropping next month. So subscribe, click, catch the webinar from last month if you didn't see that already. Look forward to seeing you soon.
