A lot of the detailed interests that used to exist… are gone.

And even when you do enter interests or custom audiences, Meta expands beyond what you’ve selected in most cases.

Which means you’re no longer fully controlling exactly who sees your ads in the way you once did.

And another big one I’ve seen across most ad accounts I work in — lookalike audiences are no longer performing like they used to.

They’re not useless. They can still work in some cases.

But they’re no longer the clear winner they once were.

Instead, most of the best-performing campaigns I’m seeing now are using Advantage+ targeting which is powered by Meta’s AI.

Which, I know, can feel uncomfortable at first.

Because you’re essentially trusting Meta to find your ideal audience.
