In this episode of Abundant Funnels, Jayne breaks down one of the most common funnel issues she sees with clients: lots of leads coming in, but very few of them turning into paying customers. She explains why lead volume on its own means very little and why a funnel should be judged by how many clients it creates, not just how many opt-ins it collects.

Jayne walks through the biggest differences between funnels that generate sales and funnels that simply gather leads. She covers lead quality, messaging specificity, how a lead magnet should naturally lead into the paid offer, why follow-up matters so much after the opt-in, and why mapping the full funnel journey is essential if you want to know where to improve. She also explains why strong funnels are always evolving and why targeted improvements beat random rebuilding every time.

In this episode, you’ll learn:

  • Why getting leads is not the same as making sales
  • The difference between interested leads and qualified leads
  • Why specificity in your messaging matters so much
  • How a lead magnet should prepare people for the paid offer
  • Why follow-up emails are a critical part of conversion
  • Why you need to know whether people are actually reaching the offer
  • How to map your funnel from opt-in to sale
  • Why great funnels are constantly evolving

I'm Jane Day and welcome to Abundant Funnels. I help coaches, course creators, and online experts get high quality leads and consistent sales without relying on guesswork, constant content creation, or $10 leads. In fact, I'm known for getting some of the best cost per lead results for quality buyers in the industry. This show is where we break down the ad strategy, the funnel, and the numbers so you can grow your revenue and buy back your time in a way that's actually sustainable. Let's get started. Hi there and welcome back to the podcast. I'm Jane Day and I'm so glad you're here listening in today. I want to start today's episode with a question. Have you ever looked at your Meta Ads manager and thought, great, we've generated a good number of leads this month? Only to get to the end of the month and realise hardly any of them actually became paying clients. If that's happened to you, I want to start by saying that this is a very common problem, so you're definitely not alone. In fact, it's one of the most common things I actually help clients with. They'll come to me saying, Jane, my ads are working, my cost per lead is really good. I'm getting heaps of people opting in for my lead magnet or signing up for my training. But no one is buying. And that's exactly what I want to talk about today. Because getting leads isn't actually the goal. Making sales is. People don't read every email. They don't see every social media post. They don't remember downloading your lead magnet six weeks ago. That's why your follow-up is so important. The job of your lead magnet isn't finished once someone opts in and downloads it. That's actually where the relationship begins. Your emails should continue that conversation. Help people implement what they've learned. Answer the next question they're likely to have. Address objections before they even ask them. Share client stories. Show them what's possible. And gradually introduce the next logical step. Because trust isn't usually built in one interaction. It's built through consistency. Another thing I always look at when auditing a funnel is whether people are actually reaching the offer. You'd be surprised how often the answer is no. Because business owners tell me my offer isn't converting. But when we dig into the numbers, we discover hardly anyone is even seeing the sales page or they're not booking a discovery call. They're not finishing the webinar. And this is something else we've spoken about in past episodes as well. You can't fix a sales problem if people never reach the sale. That's why I always encourage people to map their funnel from beginning to end. Ask yourself how many people landed on my opt-in page, how many people opted in? How many opened the emails? How many clicked through from those emails? How many watched the training? How many visited the sales page? How many people booked a call? And how many actually purchased. Once you can answer those questions, you know exactly where to improve instead of guessing. The final difference I see is that funnels which generate sales are constantly evolving. They're never finished. I don't know a single successful marketer who launches a funnel once and never touches it again. They're always looking at the data. They're always making small improvements. Sometimes it could be changing a headline or a title. It could be rewriting an email or improving a landing page. Changing the messaging in an ad. Small improvements made consistently create very different results 12 months later. It's exactly the same philosophy I've talked about in past episodes. You don't need to rebuild everything every time. You simply improve the weakest part of the funnel. Then you improve the next weakest part. And before long, you've built a really profitable funnel. So if your funnel is generating leads but not many sales, don't immediately assume you need more leads or your offer isn't any good. Ask yourself different questions. Are these the right people? Is my lead magnet preparing them for my paid offer? Am I following up enough? Are people actually reaching my offer? And where are they dropping off? Because most of the time the problem is isn't at the very top of the funnel. It's somewhere in the middle. And once you identify that, improving your sales becomes so much easier. So today's takeaway is don't measure the success of your funnel by how many leads you generate. Measure it by how many customers it creates. Because at the end of the day, leads don't grow businesses. Paying clients do. Thanks so much for listening in today. If you found this episode helpful, I'd love it if you left a review or shared it with another business owner who is struggling to make sales in their funnel. And if you'd like some help identifying where people are dropping off in your own funnel, that's exactly what we do inside Abundant Ads Academy. I'd love to help you turn a funnel that simply collects leads into one that consistently generates sales. Thanks again for listening, and I'll catch you next week.
