I'd ask that you continue to be prayerful. That the Lord will direct us this morning to give our minds the needed spiritual energy that we can look into his word and see the benefits of his gospel to his church. The gospel is something that the Lord gave us that would be like unto the words of the Old Testament that spake of him. The gospel was given to the apostles to speak of Christ also. We're to remember him, and all of these things that we glean from the scriptures, they are they which testify of him. He is of such huge value to us that now in this two thousand something years past the time that he established his church in Jordan when he was baptized and came up out of the water and began his ministry teaching the things concerning his father's kingdom. Heard something yesterday about when uh John the Baptist came and was announcing repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. And what is inferred into that is a kingdom not as just a land, but a kingdom and its king. The king is at hand. And John the Baptist got to pronounce, or I might say, announce the Lord Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world. This this one Jesus Christ who is the King of Kings. He was he is the king of his kingdom, and his kingdom has been delivered into this world, and he is still the reigning king of his kingdom. What a what a great blessing the Lord gave us the church that he built, not the brick and mortar, but the the very principle of collective believers, a collection of assembled believers coming together, not forsaking themselves to the assembly, but coming together to share this great blessing of the manifested God man who came into this world and lived and did the Father's work in front of people, and they saw him, many walked with him, they saw his work, they recorded his work, they were moved by the Holy Spirit to witness those things and to bring them forward in due time. The Lord, through his providence, gave us the written word, which is the Bible, and it has been providentially copied and kept and scrutinized and analyzed and constantly under perusal by men that have verified not only in the intellectual part of Scripture, in that it all agrees that there's all scripture is given by the inspiration of God. We believe it to be the truth. We believe it to be the record that was left for us, that we can go to the scripture. And according to the scripture, Paul uses that terminology, that he rose from the dead according to the scripture. That's great words to live by that I know that it's true because first I believe God is. God is he that cometh to God must believe that he is. Not that he was, not that he will be, but that he is, and that has always been a true statement. God is. People live their life trying, seeking to go find more treasure. The more treasure I have, the more important I'll be. Some think the more treasure I have, the more influential I can be. And I'm gonna tell you, if you're using corrupt treasure, your influence will probably be corrupt influence. Because corruption begets corruption. Treasures that you'd want to mount up and to consider that as an added value to your existence. My friends, God has all things. God is rich in all things. The world is his, the whole universe is his. You realize God doesn't need anything. To say God needs this or God needs that is to short sight the value of God. God doesn't need anything. He certainly doesn't need my input. He doesn't even need my existence to make him any better. You realize, Brother Lord, he's not, God's not going to get any better because he's not ever been any less than what he was when he created this whole world. God is the treasure. God is, when as we talk here, I want us to understand that there is always the seeking of the corrupt treasure, but that corrupt treasure will corrupt itself and will become ultimately to nothing. It's like the beautiful flower that blooms up and it's radiant. Just always like the yellow rose. Those roses sometimes can grow and they burst out and they become so vividly yellow. I mean, it's like you can almost taste the yellow in them. They're that they're that influential. But it doesn't take very long that the hot sun hits that rose, dries it out, and it withers and falls away. That's corrupt treasure. That's not the treasure to seek. I wanna I want to take us to the 12th. Old timers used to always say, get a text. Well, here let's see if we can find the text about some treasure. In the thirteenth verse of 12 of Luke, Luke chapter 12. 13th verse. And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother that he divide the inheritance with me. And he said unto him, and this is Jesus speaking, man who hath made me a judge or a divider over you. This man was talking about an inheritance that fadeth away. He's talking about an inheritance that can be spent in a moment. I mean, some inheritance lasts a long time. I understand property out here goes in families and it lasts a long time. But it only lasts with a generation for that generation. And it is spent for that generation. This inheritance is temporary. The Lord is saying, I'm not into that. That's not the inheritance that I deal with. That's not that's not my judge. That's that's on y'all. Y'all divide that inheritance or you you y'all figure a way to figure to do the inheritance thing. I'm not the divider of that. But then he says this. He says, and he says unto them, take heed and beware of covetousness. You think that might get into those that want to worry about dividing a natural inheritance? Yeah, covetous enters into that because we're fallen man and we we have something called self-interest. So covetous, he doesn't beware of covetous. So he's gonna give them a little lesson here before he proceeds. He's gonna give them a little bit of a lesson on okay, y'all gonna be dividing that inheritance, you beware of covetous. You'll do a lot better if covetous does not become a part of that dividing. Because that will ruin a family faster than anything, is when you start arguing over inheritance. Covetous will enter into it. One will want more than the other, or one will want something that belongs to the other. So that this is something he he gets into here, but this is going to feed into even a bigger lesson as we see this. Remember, we're trying, we're we're going to work to get to treasure. The treasure that we are to seek, and what that treasure is that we're to seek. He said, Beware of covetous, for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of things which he possess. You know, that just flies into the face of natural man. That's that's something, friends, that are our great downfall is to think that my worth is bound up in what I can accumulate. Accumulation means more power. You see, people really that are covetous of money, they don't really want the money. What they want is what the money can get them. You lock them up, Brother Steve, in a jail cell with a pallet full of money, and then they're not going to be any more happier because they can't do anything with it. And that's that's all it can do, is it can get something else that they want. It's a stepping stone or a means to get what they really want. A man's life consists not in the abundance of things which he possess. And he spake a parable unto them, saying, He's going to prove his point. And it it bears us good to get to the bottom of this parable about what he's talking about. He says, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentiful. What did the man bring it forth? Well, he sowed the seeds. He watered the plants, but Paul tells us I have planted Apollos has watered, but God giveth the increase. God is the one that takes that plant, and he sends that nutrients up through that plant, and that plant from the ground gets his substance. That substance flows through that plant, and finally that yellow rose blossoms and manifests what God has done. It declares the one that brought it forth plentiful. God gives the increase. It's when we forget God is the giver of the increase. Treasure. Treasure is that God can take ground and feed it through a plant. Now, you're the plant. You're the plant. The word of God is sowed within you. That word of God waters what's planted, but it is God that takes that ground word and feeds it up through your very being, through your soul. And what comes forth from that fruit of the Spirit. You see, fruit of the Spirit is not something that just resides in you. Fruit of the Spirit is what's displayed from you. It is that light manifesting itself, that light that comes up through the through the vein of your soul and it flashes from your eyes, and it is that light that people see and they say, I see plentifully. I see plentiful there. God has given the increase. God has given the light. Jesus says, I am the light of the world. He is the one that shines through you. And what people see is that light shining. And it's good when they acknowledge that's God. They glorify your Father which is in heaven. So here we have this man, the ground of the certain rich man, brought forth plentiful, just like the rich man to think he made the he made the increase. No, rich man, you that it wasn't on you. You just hold the ground for a while. And he thought within himself. Think about where all this is happening. He thought within himself. I did this great thing. He's thinking all of this, the parable is this is all going on inside this man. But you see, the Lord, he's sharper than any two-edged sword, dividing even asunder, the soul and the spirit, and the marrow and the bone, and the thought and intent of the heart. The Lord can get to that kind of detail about those that are his. He knows out of those that are not his, but those that are his, he can discern the thought and intent of the Heart. Brother Jim, that that kind of scares me a little bit. Because I can hide a lot of thought. I just don't have to. As long as I don't say it, then nobody else is gonna hear it. If I don't write it somewhere, they're not gonna know I thought that. So I can I can hide a thought. But when I think about God can divide even the thought, and the intent, I tell you, oh Lord, what a great treasure he is. And he can doctor me. He is a physician that can get down even into the intent of Bill. I went to see my doctor, and I told him most of the things that bothered me. But I didn't tell him everything. But you see, I've got a physician, I got a true physician, uh brother Munn, that knows all about my record. He knows all about me. And here's a man thinking within himself. Let's see what the man's hiding in his in himself. And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do? Because I have no room where to bestow my fruits. And he said, Well, wait a minute, first of all, whose fruit whose fruits involved here? Remember, he didn't give one lick of increase to his goods. He might have worked the cattle, he might have worked the sheep, but he didn't put the life there for those new little kids. The Lord gives the increase. It's for us to understand the world is his, and he only gives us what he'll give us. And whatever we have, it's because he gave it to us. He lets us ride this big blue ball for a period of time. Everything else, everything is his. I went out in California and saw, actually saw, cattle on the side of a hill. I never saw that in Texas very much, so I hadn't been everywhere, so but I looked up there and I saw cattle grazing on the side of a hill. It looked like a mountain to me, but those cattle were up there, and I thought, Scripture tells me the cattle of a thousand hills are his. I tell you, friend, the Lord owns it all. And he is a great giver. And he had given this man great increase. It's a shame whenever we take credit that doesn't belong to us. You know what that's called? Covetous. That's covetous. When I think I'm the one that did it and somebody else did all the giving of it. Here's this man's mind. What shall I do? Uh 'cause I have no room where to bestow my goods or to store it. He said, This will I do. I will pull down my barns and build greater barns. We'll build greater, and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. You know, I heard one time on a it was on a it was on a show. They said, Well, we got to we get we need that particular item. He said, Well, if I gave you that, I wouldn't have any more on my shelf. But we need that item. It'll save lives. It was on mash. It was on mash. I think it was an incubator or something. He said, Well, I I got two, but if I give you that one, then I won't have uh enough inventory. I won't have enough. I'll be lacking. Well, wait a minute. If you don't give it to me, some people might die. But he was more interested in the inventorying of goods than he was the use of goods. You see, friends, the Lord doesn't give us what he gives us for us just to have a good inventory. He gives us what he gives us so we can use what we're what we've been given. Put it to use for his people and to be joyful in the giving. You know, the Lord we're told that the Lord loves a cheerful giver. And the Lord never has asked us to give something that he doesn't return twofold. He returns it to us. He gave it to us first of all, and we're told to give cheerfully. But this man is more worried about what I'm where am I going to put my inventory? And he says, This will I do, I'll pull down my barns and build greater, and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. I'm emphasizing my because he's covetous. He's thinking, he's thinking this all within his own mind. And I will say un and I will say to my soul, soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years. Take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. Where's the man's mind? Where's his heart? Where's his treasure? His treasure is in his own self. I think that mindset is very presumptuous, and so does the Lord. I say I think it because he thinks it. It's very presumptuous of this man to say, what I will do this for my goods and my fruits. And I will be, I will take my ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, listen, this is a hard heading, but God said unto him, Thou fool, thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee. And then, who shall these things be which thou hast provided? You're gonna do all this, you're gonna stack it up, you're gonna inventory it, and then you're gonna die. Then who do they belong to? Then what becomes of them? Well, I know one thing they're not gonna become, they're not gonna become any more benefit to him. Because there's one thing about it, we came into this world naked and we'll go out with nothing. That's the way life works, is there is no taking it with you. And there is no doing with it after you're gone. Not for you. There might be some you leave it to, but it's to them then, for their inventory and for their use. But for you, you know what? Uh that man, he couldn't he had absolutely no say in what would happen to those fruits and goods stacked up in his bigger barn after he dies that night. The parable is, yeah, you you can do all that, but your soul's gonna be required of you this night. And he cannot have any more say in what happens to those things. They could be used well, they could be used corruptly, they could be wasted, they could be burned up, they could just they could just rot away. But that man has absolutely no say in it. That's not the way we are to be with our treasure. Now I'm taking us beyond the natural treasure. I'm taking us beyond the natural goods, and I'm taking us to the true treasure. The true treasure is to be used while you live, while you have a say in what happens with those goods, with those treasures that you found, that you experience, that God has given you the increase, because they're not your goods. They're not your fruit. They are the fruit given by the giver of every good gift and every perfect gift, which is the Lord of glory, in whom there is no verbs nor shadow of turning. We are to take the great treasure that we find, and we are to utilize it now while we're living. That man, that man gave up a great, or he would give up a great blessing is to take that fruit and those goods and to share with others, not to harbor it up. And my friends, the things that we have found in our true treasure, we are to share together. We're gathered here in this weekend, right now, in this meeting. We're here to share the great treasure. We are to we are to uh value it as it is and share it with one another and encourage one another of this treasure that we have. We have a wonderful treasure being that of the Lord Himself. So here's what he would say to this man. Said, Thy soul shall be required of thee, then whose shall these things be which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasures for himself and is not rich toward God, toward God, to take the true treasure. Now we are too we are to lay up treasure. We're to lay up that good gift that's been given to us, the word of God. That as Brother Jimmy says, that word makes us free. And the Son, if the Son make us free, we're free indeed to take that freedom that we have, that liberty of the word of the gospel, that treasure of the Lord Jesus Christ that has been manifested to our soul, that we feel him so closely to us and speaking to our very soul that we understand he's not corruptible treasure. You're not redeemed with corruptible things such as silver and gold, but by the precious blood of the Lord. That's the treasure, my friends, that he uh uh has given to us. And we are to seek that treasure. We're to seek and hear more about it and to experience more about it within our life, and to recognize when that works in my life. I want to recognize that. That wasn't me getting me delivering me, that was him delivering me, him giving me the strength in daytime. You know, my friends, many times I don't need a certain type of strength, but when it is time, that's the time that I need that strength. And he is there to provide us that treasure within our heart. Lay that up within you. I tell you how you can lay it up. You can lay it up in the singing of the songs of Zion. You can lay it up in reading those words of those songs and feeling the impression that they make upon your heart, in that melody of that noise, that joyful noise that takes place within the soul, that singing of these things, uh that you not just hear it with your ears, but you feel it with your heart. And I hear some songs sometimes that they touch me so deeply I can't even see it, but I can certainly feel it. And it resides with me and sometimes I when I find the deepest valley, I want to find that lowest point of that old song come up within my heart, and it makes me rejoice and I'm brought out of that lowly and taken upon a mountain and see him hand lifted up above the things of this whole world. Let up that treasure within your heart, lay it up when you hear the sweet prayers of the saints, and you see their heart all melted together in the church when they're praying together you know you hear the groans of those of that here woman that's doing the audible prayer, and you'll hear the groans of those that's saying Yart That's how I feel I'm afraid lay up that treasure within your heart, lay it up when you hear the sound of the gospel uh being proclaimed uh before his people, and I'll tell you, I'm praying, I'm praying hard, dear friends, uh that the Lord will send his spirit in a couple of weeks to our meeting. I hope he raises the roof completely off this place. I plan Lord help me to lay up treasure. I want to lay it up in my heart. That whenever the hard times hit, that spiritual muscle memory of my heart will remember what I heard and how I felt when I heard it. How I rejoiced to hear the things that we hear and see the things that we see and experience that sharing. You see, that's why hosting a camp meeting is important. It's not so people will know about us and see us, it's that we can sh we can do the work to share these great treasures so we can benefit. You know, we just came out of the Chambers Creek Association, and those people were hustling and bustling about doing the work, and I could see the labor, I could see the sweat on them, I could see them, uh, you know, and I know that those uh many of those sisters were tired because they were in their kitchen and they were buzzing. Those men were taking care of things uh that cropped up. But I tell you, my friend, I saw a happy people. I saw people that were rejoicing because the Lord was being manifested in their church. He was there with them, and he was raising up that group of people. Let us, my friends, pray as a body, pray as a church here at Squaw Creek, uh, that the Lord uh will visit us and will uh raise the roof of liberty uh here at this place. You know, there's a natural liberty, but there's a greater liberty. There's a liberty in my soul. That I know, my friends, that I can't outgive the Lord. Not in money, not in uh in work, not in concerns, and not in in any form greater than the Lord does. Let us pray for the treasure to come down. And when I now say treasure, I'm talking about the treasure, Lord Jesus Christ. Lord Jesus Christ. You see, I I thought about this. Some uh somebody said something about the uh the woman or the living water. I I believe it was in the prayer about the living water, and I thought about that woman that went to Jacob's well. That was her regular, regular thing to do. She had done that, I don't know, probably every day of her life. She went to the well and to get the same water. But there came that one day. There came that special day when she went to the well. It was gonna be like any other day. But my friends, this time she went there and there was one sitting on the well. He had walked all the way from Judah, all the way through to into Samaria, and to sit down on Jacob's well. God blessed them to have Jacob's well. Way back in the time of Jacob, way back in the old forefathers' time, he had uh he had given them that great treasure of that well that had watered a many a flock. And now here he is, he's seated, he's gone ahead of her. I don't know what time he started from Judah. It probably about a two-day journey to walk from Judah all the way up to Mount Gerizam to that Jacob's well. But he's waiting. He's sitting there waiting at the well, and she goes another day. I got my bucket and I got my drawing everything I need to draw the water. I'm going. And she goes and meets a man. She wasn't looking for him, he was waiting for her. My friends, I pray that the Lord will be here waiting for us. Whenever we come together to worship here in that camp meeting, I pray that the Lord will be waiting on us here at his will to give us his treasure. And my friends, he's uh He is the giver. He is the giver of all good gifts, and He is the one that giveth the increase. And if we have any increase it's because He meets us at His will. And He did meet with her, and He told her truth, and that truth touched her heart to the point she said, Come see a man that told me everything I ever did. He already knows all about me. I don't I didn't even need to introduce myself. He already knew all about me and my husbands. He knew all about my circumstances. There's nothing I could tell him about me. But all he could tell me about himself, and he told her a lot about himself. He said, You drink this water and you'll thirst again. But I'll give you ask, I'll give you a drink, and you drink and you'll never be thirsty again. My friend, that water was given to her. That water in her soul, it wasn't natural water, it was a springing up of living water. And you know why, you know why you drink of that water and you never thirst again? Because it's always springing up. That's the thing about a spring-fed lake, is it's not waiting for the melting snow or the river to rise and come down into the lake. It's coming out of that spring and it's constantly feeding that lake. That's what happens, dear friends, when we partake of this treasure, when we partake of the cooling water of the life water, the living water, the Lord Jesus Christ, uh, who is our very life, who is the keeper of his people and and the feeder. He is that rock uh that followed them in a wilderness. That water that came from a rock that was smitten, uh, my friends, that uh uh is. A liberty giving water because it goes where you go. You'll never find a dungeon far enough down that the living water can't spring up within you. Just as Paul and Silas over there in a prison. They're shackled up and they're in the lowest part of the prison, and that jailer is there outside to keep them safe or to keep them in the jail. But what happens is that water springing up. That treasure in earthen vessel. Do you know you've got a treasure in your earthen vessel? You have that Spirit of God residing in you and with you. And he, dear friends, is the one. Now lay up treasures. So he that layeth up treasures for himself and not, so is he that layeth up treasures for himself and is not rich towards God. But my friends, we are, he would go on to tell us about how he takes care of his people. But I won't jump down for time. All the way down to the 31st verse, begins a new paragraph. But rather seek ye the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added unto you. What's all things? All the things that you need. But he's promised to take care of us like the lilies of the field and the and the birds of the air. He said, Seek ye the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added unto you. Fear not, little flock. Take this personal, friends. Squaw Creek, take this personal. Fear not, little flock, for it is your father's good pleasure to give unto you the kingdom. And guess who's with the kingdom? The king is in his kingdom. And it was his pleasure to give you the kingdom of heaven. What a great blessing he's given us. Now he's given us the kingdom of heaven. We're to share it. We're to give it. We're to provide it where we can be of an influence to provide. Let us give of the kingdom. Let us share it in such a way that not only do we benefit others, but we benefit ourselves. There is a great benefit in sharing the treasure, the Lord Jesus Christ, because He is well pleased when we share these things together, and we hold His presence so dear that we seek first. Now, one place it says, seek ye the kingdom of heaven, but I think back in Matthew, in that account of it, he says, seek ye first the kingdom of heaven and his righteousness. And his righteousness. Those two things are added in Matthew. They're just as relevant here in Luke. Luke doesn't say it, but it's still relevant because the scripture, they can't they are commentary to themselves. So it's just as true over here. Seek ye first the kingdom of heaven and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you. He's not going to ask us to do many more than what we can do. And he's not going to leave us empty-handed when we've done it. He will provide us a treasure to hold on to. I don't remember all the sermons, but I do remember the feeling of the Spirit. And that's something that is of the treasure that's been given to us. I thank you for your attention this morning. I hope this has been of some benefit. May the Lord bless us to serve Him.
