The Protectors®
The Protectors®: Pivot is a podcast about reinvention, resilience, and the moments that change the direction of our lives.
Hosted by former federal agent, Army veteran, author, and podcast host Jason Piccolo, the show explores what happens after service, success, failure, loss, burnout, and transition. Through conversations with veterans, leaders, athletes, authors, entrepreneurs, and everyday people who chose a new path, Pivot focuses on growth, purpose, and the courage to move forward.
This isn’t about living in the past.
It’s about what comes next.
The Protectors®: Pivot is for anyone navigating change, searching for purpose, rebuilding identity, or stepping into a second chapter.

After 536 conversations on Protectors, one thing keeps showing up: every guest has a moment where life demands a pivot. Not always a catastrophe, not always a dramatic turning point — but a real shift where career, identity, or purpose has to change direction.
We're still bringing incredible guests, still keeping it human, but we're done glossing over the most meaningful part of the story. We dig into how people recognize the moment, what they do when certainty disappears, and how they build the next chapter — whether that's a military-to-civilian shift, a leadership change, a mental health struggle, or a recovery journey. No politics. Just practical lessons and real-world resilience.
You'll also keep hearing from authors who've pivoted into writing — shorter, straight-to-the-point conversations covering who they are, the book, and how they got there.
Main guest conversations drop bi-weekly. We want your input on who to bring on and what to ask — follow @DrJasonPiccolo on IG and send suggestions. Then subscribe, share, and leave a review so these pivot stories reach the people who need them most.

The Hidden Pattern Across 536 Guests
SPEAKER_00Five hundred and thirty-six episodes of the Protectors podcast, and I always noted a constant in every single episode. Every interview, every guest had a point in their life and their career, in their personal journey where they had to pivot. So you're going to notice a little bit of change with the Protectors podcast in the future. A little bit of change, a little tweak, because now we're not just going to gloss over some of these pivot points. We're going to focus in on them. We're going to hammer down on how some of our guests have gone through some of the most significant points of their life where they had to pivot. Now, listen, not everything is going to be like a super drama where there was an accident or some catastrophic event that pushed them to pivot. It could be career pivot. It could be, hey, you know what? I did 10, 20, 30 years in the military and I had to pivot into a new career. It could be anything, change a career, change of life, change of status. Some of our guests have gone through addiction. They've gone through mental anguish where they've had to pivot into a new direction. That's kind of where the protectors always had like a key anchor point. But now it's going to be one of the main focuses of the show. Now listen, it's not going to be drama. It's not going to be always drama. Yes, there will be drama. But we're going to steer clear of politics, we're going to stay on point, and we're going to also have fun. Yes, we're going to talk to incredible guests as we have in the past. Hundreds of them have showed up on the Protectors podcast to bear everything they had to an open audience. And we're still going to have those great interviews. It's just a little more focused. So you'll notice a little change there. A little change in the Protectors interviews. Now, yes, we are still going to have plenty of authors. I love talking to authors. Every one of them coming from a diverse background, and they have pivoted into this writing world. Whether that's their full-time job, whether they're a New York Times best-selling author, whether they're an indie published author, or whether it is solo and they're just first starting out saying, hey, you know what? This is how I put words to paper. So we're still going to have those interviews. They'll be a little more straightforward, you know, a little more 25 to 30 minutes of, hey, this is who I am, this is my book, and this is how I got there. But the main push of this podcast is going to be about the pivot. It has to be. You know, I am in my 50s now. It's crazy. I look in the mirror every day and I go, wow, where'd those last 30-something years go? And in those 30 years, I have pivoted in so many different directions. Whether that's in like, you know, relationships, whether that's as a father, whether that's everywhere, I've pivoted. That also includes the many titles I've had over these 30-something years. Whether that's agent, officer, special agent, soldier, captain. There have been so many pivot points in those past 30-something years that I want to use that knowledge to help the audience and to help my guests get to their next point. So yeah, the Protectors is back. We are absolutely back. So look forward to these interviews now. They're going to be coming out bi-weekly. The author interviews may come out a little bit quicker, just because, hey, you know what? One thing about writing a book and publishing it is you need to promote it. So there may be more interviews out there, but main guests will be every it'll be a bi-weekly system. That also includes that I want feedback from you, from you all. So if you check out at Dr. Jason Picklow on IG, you could drop guest suggestions, you could hit DM me, you could ask questions about what you want to see on future episodes. But really, this quick five-minute episode right now is about we are back. This is it's really exciting for me because the the podcast has been dormant for six months while I had to deal with certain work uh permissions to start the show back up. But now we're back, and this is an exciting time for the protectors, and I'm very excited to bring you these guests. We've already had so many lined up right now that it's just man, I'm just I'm really excited to be back. I'm so excited to be back behind this microphone and getting my podcast voice back. So, and I couldn't do any of this without all of your support. And everybody out there who has listened, who has subscribed to this podcast and left reviews, and have just been a great supporter of the show. I appreciate it. And this show is not about Jason Picklow, this show is about you all, the audience, and it will always be about the audience. So, whatever suggestions you have for the guests, whatever suggestions you have for me, um, what you want me to ask the guests, what who you want on a show, let me know. But the Protectors podcast is back. You'll notice on that cover art, it has shifted a little bit. It's now called the Protectors, you know, dot dot pivot. So I'm excited to bring that too. I I love helping others and I love bringing others' stories to light. So thank you all for all the support and thank you for your patience. You know, I originally planned to relaunch back in March, but you know, there has been uh just a busy time in my life. So I really appreciate you all. So check it out. The Protectors is back.
