Welcome to the podcast On Your Way In, where I provide quick and actionable insights for intentional leaders. I'm your host, Sarah Harvey. Today's guided insight centers around having aspirations that reflect the belief that great things will happen. It's so easy to wake up, immediately pick up your phone, and start scrolling through all the bad news in the world. What could seem like a productive way to start your day, trying to stay informed, can quickly turn depressing. It's enough to make you want to stay in bed and pull the covers up. Bad news is toxic and finds a resting place in your physiology. It gets stored as a memory or image that influences your beliefs, can dominate your thoughts, and zaps your energy. Not a great way to start the day. Start with bad news day after day, and you'll begin to lose hope, approaching your day with a fear-based mindset. That energy begins seeping into your mindset and ultimately into everything you do, everyone you meet, and every conversation you have. The next thing you know it's impacting how you lead. There are two paradigms that I hold to be true based on my leadership experience. One, what you think you become. And two, you get what you expect. So in spite of all the bad news and drama that may be surrounding you, I challenge you to dream big and expect spectacular results anyway. Choose a mindset that great things are not only possible, but will actually happen. Initially, that may sound a bit naive, but the alternative is to buy into hopelessness and let the drama in. That's not what great leaders do. Let your aspirations be so big and so bold that they make you a little uncomfortable. If you find yourself saying, ooh, I don't know how that would even be possible, then you probably have a worthwhile aspiration. Write each one down and share them with someone important in your life. Surround yourself with possibility-minded coworkers and friends. Find people who are committed to thriving. Connect with people who believe in you and who want to see you succeed. And be humble enough to ask for support. We are meant to manifest greatness together, not in isolation. Be mindful about what you let into your body and your mind through your five senses. All you allow in impacts your aspirations. Whatever your eyes see, your ears hear, influences your thoughts, which also ultimately determines the results you'll get. Big aspirations are born in the silence within. Take the time to be still and listen for the possibilities that exist both within you and around you. When you do that, you'll pick up on subtle clues that tell you whether or not you're on the right path. You can access that silence through meditation, in nature, practicing yoga, swimming, running, or walking. You might even consider going 24 hours without speaking a word. You'd be surprised at what you'll hear when you're silent. Greatness is your destiny. The vehicle to get you there consists of the choices you make each and every day. Take the route that aligns with the belief that great things will happen. The road to achieving your aspirations will likely include steep hills, potholes, and some hairpin turns. Let any challenges and obstacles be your teaching moments. They will only make the attainment of your aspirations even sweeter. Now I'm going to ask you to close your eyes if you're in a place where it's safe to do so. Soften your facial muscles, lengthen the back of your neck by tucking your chin slightly. Sit up straight, dropping your shoulders down to create more comfort in your body. Uncross your legs so your feet are flat on the floor. Place your hands open on your lap with your palms facing up. Now, silently begin to repeat the insight. My aspirations reflect that great things will happen. My aspirations reflect that great things will happen. Allow this insight to be gentle and easy, almost as if it's floating by on a cloud, just drifting by. For the next minute, let this insight be your primary thought. My aspirations reflect that great things will happen. If at any point you notice that your mind has drifted away from the insight, just gently come back to it and continue repeating it silently. Allow the insight to settle into your mind and your heart. When you hear a soft chime, stop repeating the insight and be still with your eyes closed. My aspirations reflect that great things will happen. Gently open your eyes. Today and every day, start your day with a mindset of unlimited possibility, committing to choices and actions that align to great outcomes. Nurture your five senses with experiences that give you the inspiration you need to manifest big, bold aspirations. As a leader, you are called to change the world. So give yourself every chance to succeed. And remember, before you go out, always go in. Thanks for joining me on this episode of On Your Way In. Remember, leadership isn't something you perform, it's something you embody. The more you go inward, the more effective, present, and resilient you become. If today's guided insight was helpful, take a moment to reflect, integrate, and lead using the innate wisdom within you. You can also download the full workbook in the show notes to deepen your practice. Until next time, remember before you go out, go in.
