Welcome And Meet The Blackout DJs
SPEAKER_00This is I'm Friends with the DJ. Hosted by AJ the Silverfox. Welcome back to another episode of I'm Friends with the DJ. It's me, your host, AJ the Silver Fox, and joining me today is our very good friends introducing a new show, new event, new concept, Blackout. So Rudy and PJ and Aldo are going to be the DJ's artists expressing their new talent, new event.
SPEAKER_01So tell me about it. Those genres are gonna be the party itself, and it's it's gonna be great. It's gonna be a dark and sexy party.
SPEAKER_00So that's amazing. That's so exciting. So how about you guys? Like, so you guys are new to um DJing and everything. We just heard your set, your introduction here at um Sundown Social, and it was amazing. Thank you, Maxwell. Of course, you've been like new in it and everything. So, how's that been going?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it's up and good. I think um, you know, still discovering a little bit more of the sound, finding that I really gravitate with this. I think I told you last time, Tech House Melodic House. Um a little dance pop, right? So just figuring out who I am and what I can bring to the room, and I think blackouts are a great place to do that too. So it's been amazing. The party started and then make it a little exactly.
SPEAKER_00That's always fun, you know. And I I think that the your introduction, especially with Sundown Social and everything, has been very successful. So very exciting to see
Why Blackout Exists
SPEAKER_00you. And like, so how did this blackout come to be? Like, who's it started it, like what's going on with that?
SPEAKER_01Like, well, it it was uh an idea that I came up with to incorporate more tech house, techno into bear house because bear house you know has a special sound with the circuit scene, and so I wanted to create something different to to to cater to that to that sound, you know, tech house and making house music, you know, and so always needed, always needed.
SPEAKER_00You know, circuits always fun and everything, but I think introducing different kinds of sounds, how do people know that they're gonna enjoy it or not? So that's really amazing that you're doing it. And Aldo just did his first set here at Sundown Social. Tell me about that. How'd it feel?
SPEAKER_03Like, tell me about that. It was great, it was exciting, just 30 minutes, but still pretty good. You know, 30 minutes is is so amazing and great. So your sound is very describe it, describe it for us. I enjoyed it. It's very underground, yeah. Like it's not like your typical stuff that you listen to like on the radio. It's more like you know, kind of very niche, very kind of like obscure. Yeah, but it's still it still kicks, you know.
SPEAKER_00You know, I um I think either you sent me something or I heard you play at like a little private event, and it reminded me of like Blade in their like techno club scene, which was so cool and amazing. I really enjoyed it. That was so fun. Yeah, that was amazing.
SPEAKER_03So, are you gonna be bringing that to a little bit to blackout? Today, because it was daytime, it was a little bit lighter, you know, a little bit more effervescent. But other than that, like you know, um, for the party it'll be a little bit darker, a little bit more that type of sound. Sexy, dark, and just I mean, trying to bring sexy back. That's right.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think all of us are gonna bring that sound to the party, you know. It's gonna be very dark and sexy. So basically, blackout is the dark, darker side of bear house. So we want to keep it that.
SPEAKER_00I love that the darker side of bear house. It's such a unique concept. So,
Venue, Vibe, And Frequency
SPEAKER_00okay, where are we doing it? Where's this gonna be? How often?
SPEAKER_01It's gonna be also at the heat, but on the back, chill bar, so it's gonna be more secluded and um again darker, you know. We're cutting back on the lasers and the lights and everything to give it a more darker experience, you know, an atmosphere. So, yeah, it gark and sweat.
SPEAKER_00It's gonna be great. That's so fun. And why blackout? Like, what is uh what what was the theme behind that, or what what brought that?
SPEAKER_01Well, you know, just imagine being at a club and that's the lights go out, you know, but the music keeps going. So, what do you do in the blackout? You you explore, you know, you have fun. So, yeah, that's the whole thing. Feel free, right? It's feel free, the freedom that anything can happen at a blackout, you know. I love that.
SPEAKER_00I love that. That's really, really cool. You know, I think, you know, by comparison with like Bearhouse to Blackout, like coming in, is this gonna be like monthly or what's what's going on?
SPEAKER_01It's gonna be quarterly, so four times a year. So people can anticipate coming and look forward to it, you know. So every every night it's gonna be a different experience with but still the same concept.
SPEAKER_00That's so cool. And so, are you gonna be bringing DJs in for Blackout?
SPEAKER_01For now, it's gonna be the three of us. So cool. We're gonna work hard, you know, in creating this party for everyone and and give give you guys a great night every single time.
SPEAKER_00I mean, guys, what we heard the little brief interlude, like it like beginning of it was amazing.
September 26 Launch And Big Goals
SPEAKER_00Do we have a a date where the first one's gonna happen?
SPEAKER_01First one's gonna be September 26th at the heat chill bar, yeah. So it's coming up.
SPEAKER_00That's so cool. Tell me about like for you, what is your expectation? What are what tell me about like what what are you what are you hoping for? What's this gonna do? Of course.
SPEAKER_02Well, I think the first thing is is like I I think I found myself in this kind of electronic music scene first through Bear House, right? Like through the circuit scene, um, you know, feeling that energy, that that passion, that excitement on the dance floor. Um, and then maybe over the past like year or so we've we started coming to Sun on Social, put ourselves more in this house, tech house space, which has been fantastic as well. And so it's just interesting to be able to interesting, that's not the right word. I'm excited, that's the word, to be able to blend kind of those two worlds together, right? So it's like that that circuit, very gay, queer, focused energy, right, into blackout, but bringing this sound into that community, which is like it's just different, right? There's a everyone has a different experience in their lives, and there's something about the community that makes it a community, right? We may not all have the same, like same experiences, but we have like a similar shared experience. And so when we get together, it's it's just different. And so to bring this to that is like it's exciting, it's cool.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so that's really really cool to hear. So, and how about you Aldo? Like, with you, like what what made you want to start or what like how did this begin? Your passion for music and wanting to play and make people dance.
SPEAKER_03Like, well, I've been mix I've been mixing around for a while, like, but just personally, um, and obviously like hanging around and Rudy and like a new AZ, it's kind of like you know, nice to kind of like be able to play on it. So I guess that's how I got some toys. Yeah, I got some toys to play with now. So it's cute to come back and just kind of like you know, like pick up, I guess, where I left off, right?
SPEAKER_00That's so I mean your sound what you did. I mean, it sounds like you have been doing it for a bit, but you know, like when you say you've been doing it privately, it's my first day. Natural talent, natural talent here. That's you know, it's yeah, it's fun, it's cool, you know what I mean? And the idea of bringing it to light and coming in, it's refreshing. I think San Antonio needed this. I think you know, it's really fresh and new to bring something, especially to the strip. Yeah, it's amazing, it was much needed that it's it's it's great to hear, you know. Um it's nice because it's different, you know?
SPEAKER_03It's not like the typical stuff that you hear. So it it's nice to bring something fresh to the you know to San Antonio.
SPEAKER_00I mean, and this is what I always say, how do how do you know you like it if you've never heard it before? Exactly. You know what I mean? So it takes people to bring it to show them what they don't know they like. And that's that's how it should be. And we all should always want to like no, I don't well, you've never heard it, so why would you even know you don't like it? Yeah, try it, try, try everything once, twice, three times even, and then you'll find out if you like it or
Sounds, Set Format, And Dress Code
SPEAKER_00not. Um, you know, so Rudy, Dolfo, who's what's going on? Like, what sounds are you gonna be bringing?
SPEAKER_01Dolph, yeah, it's gonna be all doleful, um, doleful experience. So house, progressive house, you know, a little bit of techno, you know, and and just give you um a great sexy night, you know, sexy beats, uh, most of all. It's all about the music, you know, and and the music makes the party itself, you know, and and and giving the people a great experience, something to remember and talk about. So yeah, we're super excited for it.
SPEAKER_00I I can't wait. And so the first one's gonna be September 26th. September 26th. We're gonna be there, we're gonna show up and turn out, and I can't wait. It's gonna be another five. Is it gonna be themed or what is are we doing it like how are we?
SPEAKER_01I feel like the theme is since blackout, it's gonna be black. Just wear black, you know, harness, leather, leather is black, so or or wear nothing at all.
SPEAKER_00Or wear nothing at all.
SPEAKER_01We'll see it.
SPEAKER_00We'll see how that goes, you know. Um, well, I can't wait. I think that I'm I'm so excited to see what you guys are gonna do, what you're gonna do, what you guys are gonna bring to the table as a joint. Are we doing like um like a back-to-back, three-way type thing, or what's what it does?
SPEAKER_01Two hours each. Okay, Maxwell Henry, then myself, and then Aldo. So it's gonna it's gonna be a great journey from our music, um, sounds, you know, starting off to to take you to the end, you know. It'll be cute. It'll be fun. You know, kind of like what we did today. Yes. We all played a different sound for 30 minutes, and it was very unique to us, and we very well blended it together. And I can't I can't wait for us to to experience that for six hours, you know. I agree.
Sundown Social Showcase And Future Dates
SPEAKER_00So, you know, and and coming here to Sundown Social, we're here um on location for their artist summit. Um, um, how did that feel being a part of Sundown Social?
SPEAKER_01It was great. I mean, once they invited us to be here, they invited actually Bearhouse to to have a spot. And the first thing I thought we thought about was like, why don't we showcase blackout, you know, and and to bring them on board as well and you know, ex have have it had have that experience. Introduction. Introduction, yeah.
SPEAKER_00It was a beautiful introduction, you know. Um, um, those who were here, we got that sneak peek. Those who weren't, you missed out. Um, but we're definitely gonna be able to see it September 26th. Um so are we gonna be doing it every quarter? But is that is it gonna be like every like third, fourth, like any specific.
SPEAKER_01I don't think I don't think we have anything specific yet, but I mean what whenever it falls, it might be the third Saturday or the second Saturday, so it all depends, you know. Yeah, when definitely on the weekend of class on the Saturday. Always on the weekend. Tuesday.
SPEAKER_00Definitely on another Tuesday, you know, nothing's going on a Tuesday. Why not? You know, I think it'd be exciting to go to the house. Right, exactly. I may or may not come on a Tuesday. Listen, listen, no one wants to do anything on a Tuesday. Um again, I'm so excited to hear what you guys are gonna bring. I'm so excited to hear more of your sound. You know, Maxwell's doing amazing, and you know, I I just I'm so happy for you guys and and it's it's uh gonna be they're always amazing, you
Other Projects And Where To Find Them
SPEAKER_00know. Um tell us what else to um aside from this blackout, is there anything else going on that you guys are doing?
SPEAKER_01I mean, Sundan separately or you know Sundan social, I mean, I mean for us too as well. As far as Dolfo, I also have a party with evolution coming up in October. Fun. Um, yeah, I mean, whatever comes my way, it's you know, it's been pretty good. Good.
SPEAKER_00That's that's great. Max Floor, are you doing anything fun, exciting?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm excited to be part of the Sundown community. So anytime there's an opportunity to be here, I'll be here. Um also, I don't know, I'm sure y'all know the dudes of show and afters. Good dudes, good times. Thursday's a lot, it's better together. Um, together Thursdays is what they call it. So love going out there to you on Thursdays. Um, no, no, I'm just I'm just here for the party, right? Let's just chill together and make it happen.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, that's always fun. Aldo, what about you? What are we expecting from you? Anything coming up, sending out after parties, naughty situations, what's going on?
SPEAKER_03Yeah, absolutely. I mean, I feel like um so the first gig will be uh blackout, and then after that we'll we'll see, you know, just kind of like see seeing where the sound fits because you know it's not for everyone, you know.
SPEAKER_00And again, if they don't know they like it, then they need to check it out and then they'll find out, right? For sure. That's awesome. Well, again, thank you guys for joining me. Um, it's been really, really fun. Where can they find you? Where can they locate? How could they find you on SoundCloud? Where you guys tell everyone. Soundcloud DJ Rudy still on Instagram as well.
SPEAKER_01Awesome.
SPEAKER_02Uh at Maxwell Henry Music, pretty much anywhere you look for a thing, that's where I'm at.
SPEAKER_03Aldo, do you have anything set up yet? So I'm currently working on a project, like like a no, not not really a project, but um mainly just another Instagram, but it's gonna be under DJ Aldo, that's 4LDO. 4LD0. So yeah, that's where I'll start to like put all my DJ stuff.
SPEAKER_00That's so exciting. Well, thank you guys for joining me, and we can't wait to catch you guys. We'll catch you soon. Thanks guys, bye.
