Jesus didn’t choose comfort—He chose the Cross. In this episode, we wrestle with what it really means to follow Christ when service costs more than we expected. If we’re honest, real obedience often requires us to step out of safety and into sacrifice.

He left the glory of heaven, walked among the messy, risky, broken world, and laid down his life for people who would betray, reject, and abandon him. That choice was dangerous. That choice cost everything. And yet it also changed everything.

It often puts you in uncomfortable, inconvenient, or even unsafe places. But God calls us to follow the same path, to choose love over ease, obedience over comfort, and mercy over self-preservation.

Every act of genuine service shapes us into someone stronger, more humble, and more like Christ.

Hello, hello, friends. I am back solo today. So this week in the United States, pretty much anywhere, maybe, I don't know, in the Midwest for sure, there is spring break. And so my kids have been out of school, and Kendra has been busy with work and all the things. So she is not here with me again today. Our schedules have kind of been crazy, but she will be back. I promise. She absolutely will be. Today's reflection hits me really, really hard. Hits me in the gut because I'm actually preparing for a trip to a retreat that I'm putting on for a group of women. We've done a Bible study together for two plus years. And we're starting the 10th round of this Bible study, and we're doing it in person. And so talking about, you know, revealing what's in your heart and showing your comfort seeking habits, planning this retreat and pouring into these women, it's scary, but it's also so amazing. I am very, very excited. I've met almost all these people in person. And, you know, God's God's calling all of us to do something that feels uncomfortable. Whenever I very first started this retreat, this online Bible study, I was so scared. And I remember sitting on my couch waiting patiently for someone to buy the very first spot in the Bible study. And it was late one evening, and my husband and I were just hanging out, and my phone dinged, and I jumped up off the couch and he said, Did someone buy one? And I said, Yes, oh my gosh. And it was just incredible because it has turned into something so touched by God that I could never have done all by myself. But it was so scary and it was so uncomfortable. And instead of, you know, barely putting myself out there and saying, Okay, maybe I'll do this Bible. Study. I jumped in with two feet and I realized that I asked that question of what's needed. And now there's there's 12 women gathering and there's even more that are in the study. And it's just it is truly a beautiful, beautiful opportunity to become stronger in my faith, to grow in humility, and to be more Christ-like. I'm actually super excited because throughout the entire retreat, I'm going to cook for everyone. And that is my love language. And I have women volunteering to clean up afterwards, which is even cooler. But it's just, it's one of those things where it's like, okay, God, I see you. And I am, I am choosing service today over safety. I am choosing service over what feels comfortable. It's scary to step out in faith, to share your faith life and to pour into others. I think all of us expect to be theologians before we pour into others. And that's not true. Like that's not necessary. Don't get me wrong. I would love, love, love to know more about scripture and the beauty of our faith. And I'm working every day to do that, but I wholeheartedly believe that when we're called into service, whatever it may look like, that God is going to call the people who are not qualified. And then through what we are called to do, he qualifies us. He doesn't wait for us to have it with a beautiful cherry on top. He he calls us even when we're not ready. I think about so many incredible biblical people. People in the Bible. Like we're talking about Noah and Moses and all of those great, great people. I mean, think about Saint Paul. He was not qualified to preach the gospel initially. He persecuted Christians. And so maybe that can be your challenge today, even if you don't feel qualified. If you feel that call, step out in the uncertainty and choose service, choose doing God's will, even though it's so so uncomfortable, because He absolutely has the power to qualify you.
