What is clarity, really? And why does it feel so hard to hold onto?

In this episode, we’re unpacking what clarity actually is—not just a feeling, not just having every answer, but something God gives us to steward. Clarity is a gift that unlocks movement, obedience, confidence, and momentum. But if we don’t learn how to protect it, steward it, and move with it, we can easily fall back into confusion, hesitation, overthinking, fear, and delay.

I have a feeling there's more inside you than you believe. Beneath the doubt, the fear, and the confusion lies a deeper truth. You were created for more. Unlocking you is where faith meets action. Where we untangle the thoughts that keep you stuck, heal what's hidden, and gain insight into the unique journey God has you on. This isn't about becoming someone new. It's about discovering who you already are and learning to live from that place with confidence. I'm your host, Lexi Wanamaker, and together we'll unlock clarity, renew perspective, and empower your story one revelation at a time. I want to move on to clarity, right? So we covered vision. What is clarity about? Why do we need clarity? First things first, we're gonna make a declaration over clarity in our lives. I want you to put your hands on your heart and you're just gonna decree what I decree. You're gonna say, I decree and declare an increase in clarity and spiritual vision. I break agreement with confusion and lack of understanding. I do know the will of God because I know his word. I renounce fear and receive a sound mind and the perfect love of the Father, which drives fear out. I will not be led by my emotions, but by the voice of my father. I make a decision today to take action and believe that God is guiding and ordering my steps. I will move and not delay my own destiny. So what is clarity, right? So we think about clarity as like the same almost as vision, um, but they're a little bit different because clarity is all about starting. Clarity is all about movement. In the kingdom of God, it's all about movement. In the natural realm, you want to have everything planned out, right? Before you make a move. If you're gonna do something, if you're gonna decide, if it's something as simple as going to the park or I don't know, starting a business. You want to have everything parsed out so you can see it properly, right? But in the kingdom of God, that's not how clarity works. Clarity is unlocked when we move in faith. So you can think of clarity kind of almost like a verb. It's all about going. We think we need clarity to have clarity to have a start, but God releases clarity when we move. And clarity is a byproduct of activity. So when we receive clarity, one of its purposes is to spark momentum. Clarity sparks momentum. So clarity unlocks movement. I'm sorry, movement unlocks clarity and momentum, which is what we need to keep going. So the more we go, the more clarity God releases to us because we're stewarding our movement. We're stewarding momentum. We're saying yes to God. So the more you say yes with your actions, the more He releases to you. That's why the enemy wants to bring confusion in this place. People are always looking for clarity. They're always like, What do I do? I don't know what to do. Like, that's the biggest thing I hear. Like, I don't understand what God is saying to me. I just don't get it. I don't get how I'm supposed to do this. And it's it's this place of spinning and fear where you're making an agreement with confusion and you're going, I don't know, but you do know because you know him and you have at least one thing that he's told you. If you had one thing that he's shown you, you can make a step in that direction and get more clarity. So confusion hinders momentum and brings delay. So we don't want to partner with confusion. When you start to feel confused about something, that is a sign that you're getting out of alignment with what God has spoken to you. And you're probably overthinking things, you're probably thinking too much about what you have to do versus what God is going to do through you and how he's going to shepherd you into whatever it is that you're doing. So, what are the biggest vision and clarity stealers? So if you permit these things, these specific things uh to happen to you or to continue in your life, they will slow you down and they will pull you, they will pull you out of the game. So the last thing that we want is to partner with our own delay, right? Like life is hard enough. We get thrown curveballs all the time, stuff is happening, like there's always warfare or something going on, right? The last thing that we want to do is actually be partnering with our own delay. And I'll tell you something that is absolutely true. God, we think things are taking so long, right? It just feels like, my gosh, why is this taking forever? And normally it's because we are behind in our own development. And so we're not partnering with God most of the time because we're looking at things from a human perspective. We're not leaning on him for wisdom, we're leaning on our own understanding. And this is like slowing us down because then we start to make silly decisions and we start to do things that you know don't make any sense or that he's not telling us to do. Um, and so we're behind in the time, this is something Graham Cook says. We're behind in the time of our own development prophetically. So God wants to bring you into acceleration because there's lots of time to redeem. So, like if you feel like you're somebody who has spent a lot of time, you know, in the wilderness, circling around and not knowing what's going on, and you just feel like I I, you know, I need to get out of here. You know, one of the things that you can begin asking God for is redemption of time and how do I accelerate? God, give me one step I can take to accelerate today and come into agreement with him, and you will see him start to unlock those things. The biggest thing um that seals clarity and vision, besides our own partnering with the with the enemy, is distraction. So, distraction is a thing that prevents someone from giving their full attention to something. That's one definition. The other definition is extreme agitation of the mind or emotions. So we all have had this experience where we get stuck in like doom scrolling, excessive scrolling, uh household work that can definitely wait. You do not need to clean the dust off the top of the bookshelves right now when you're supposed to do the thing that God was asking you to do. I'm speaking from experience. Um binging shows, feeling like you get you're just stuck in like not being able to put your eyes forward and to to to begin actually putting your hand to the plow. And I don't want to over-spiritualize things, but it definitely can be something that is demonic, something that you know the enemy is using. And the more we give into it, the worse it gets. It becomes like this black hole. The other thing is if you are doing something and you're being really diligent, the other distraction is he'll send things that are upsetting, like really upsetting and triggering to get you spinning so that you'll drop your vision or you'll disconnect from it because it's too painful. And this is something that I have experienced in my own life quite a bit. You know, the Bible says to be aware of the enemy's devices. We don't focus on him, we don't give him glory, we don't, you know, I don't think about him that much, but you know, I do use wisdom and I ask God, make me aware of how the enemy tries to get into my life. Show me if there's doors, show me if there's things that he's, you know, planning or things that like if you pay attention, you'll see how he comes at you. It's usually the same ways. If he sees that something works, he's gonna come back through that door. If you get really triggered over finances, the minute you sit down to do something that God told you to do, you're gonna get 15 bills in the mail. And then feel like, I can't do this, I can't do this. When in reality, and I know that sounds like okay, but they're bills, you do have to pay them. Yes, they're things that you do actually have to take care of, but a lot of this stuff will come out of nowhere, and it's like old stuff. I've gotten bills that were like from something from seven years ago, and I'm like, why is this showing up again now? Or all of a sudden you'll have relational issues and you were fine with this person before, and all of a sudden it's like you can't they're angry with you, you're you don't understand if relationships are a trigger for you, he'll use that to distract you. So we do need to anticipate some warfare because if we're prepared, we'll have um a greater chance of success. It's just part of the game. So distraction, dis a Latin prefix means a part, asunder, or having a negative reversing force. So, and then traction is something that pulls you forward, it is friction that pulls you forward. You need traction to move forward. So distraction pulling you in the opposite direction. That's what that means. So anytime you engage with a distraction or you allow it to um get the upper hand over you, you're engaging with going in the opposite direction of what God told you to do. Yeah, its purpose is to reverse direction and pull you away from the vision. Because vision requires focus. You have to be single-minded, you have to have your eyes single, you have to um know where to prioritize things. You can't look in two places at once. And you know, when you are in the place of assignment and you're in the place that God has you building something, whether that is in your family, it could be a business, it could be a ministry, it could be a lot of other things, right? You know, you that's the place of power and safety. So I think of the story of Nehemiah where he was building the walls of Jerusalem. And, you know, uh Sam Ballot and his friends came to try to get him down off that wall. They were trying to distract him from what he was doing, and they were using fear tactics, they were using insecurity, they were trying to make him um, you know, afraid of what other people were saying about him. Oh, people are people are saying this about you and that about you, and um, we're gonna go tell the king that you're trying to make yourself king and all of these lies. They were just lies. But they had to get him to come down off the wall for them to engage with him because if he was up on that wall doing what he was called to do, he was empowered, he was safe, and he was surrounded by other people who had like-minded who were like-minded because they were all building the same walls, they were all building the same city, right? So the other thing is that you want to be with people who are doing at least some people that are doing the same things you are or have the same goals. That is one of my biggest things is having friends and having um, you know, people in my life that are doing what I'm doing. Because if I if I didn't, I wouldn't be able to do it. I can't. We can't be alone. It's one of the biggest reasons for wasted energy. It takes a lot of time. If you give distraction like the upper hand, it takes a lot of time to get back. The main focus of our lives is Jesus, what he's doing in us and through us, and how we're partnering with him in that thing. And inconsistency and a lack of prioritizing is another vision and clarity stealer. So when we're inconsistent, consistency is key. Consistency is key. When we are inconsistent, we're not gonna see the growth and the acceleration that God has for us. And I cannot tell you how many times people come to me and they have they want to see growth and they want to see things happen and they want to see their promises manifest and they want to see the vision come into the physical realm, right? Like what God has promised them, but they're not prioritizing it at all. It's like one of the last things that they do during the day. It's one of the last things that they think about. They're not putting it, you know, ministry and stuff and assignments, they don't come before your family ever. But like they need to not be the last thing that you do. It can't be behind laundry, it can't be behind binging Netflix, it can't be behind those things. You will not see it happen. I people don't like when I say that. You won't see it happen. It can't be casual. You're trying to inherit something spiritually, it cannot be casual. So the third thing is just I've said this before, so I'm not gonna spend a lot of time here. Lack of the fear of the Lord, which is not depending on him, not depending on the Lord. You think you can do it yourself, you're trying to figure it out yourself. That is one of the reasons we spin our wheels and we lose clarity and vision because we're like, why are all my efforts that I decided to do not working? And the answer is because we're leaning on our own understanding. We'll give God a minute or two, right? But if we don't think that that thing he told us to do or the strategy he gave us is gonna work, we'll go right back, or it's or we're afraid of it, we'll go right back on our own understanding. And it's like then he has to disentangle you from the stuff you're choosing to do because you didn't want to do the thing he told you, or you were afraid of it, and it's a good idea.
