Hello and welcome to Dyslexia Unfiltered. My name is Andrea Picard, and I am a dyslexic thinker. This is our very first episode of Dyslexia Unfiltered, so I'm very excited to be recording this today. Thank you for being here. I will explain in today's episode who I am, why I started a podcast, and as a dyslexic thinker or an ally of dyslexic thinkers, what you can look to get out of this podcast. This podcast is aimed at dyslexic thinkers and helping dyslexic thinkers to really have great success, live your best life because we deserve it. We do. And this podcast is also for any allies of dyslexic thinkers as well. Everyone is welcome here. I was diagnosed with dyslexia in my mid-30s, and that diagnosis has been a life-changing thing that happened to me. I had struggled at school. I'd always wondered, Am I dyslexic, but I was never quite sure. Then I got into the corporate world and I managed to do quite a lot better in the corporate world than I did in my school days. I had my own coping strategies of how I got through the corporate world and um having like the technology, like computers that we have now with the spell checker, that really helped me, and I was very reliant on that. The main thing that I found that I struggled with was the spelling. So yeah, it was during the pandemic that I decided that I was gonna get tested, and I did, and it came back that I was dyslexic, which confirmed sort of what I had thought about myself. I had a little bit of hesitation in actually getting diagnosed because I was wondering, well, what if I am and what if I'm not? I ended up taking the test, and yeah, it came out that I was dyslexic, and to be honest, I have no regrets. I felt like a massive relief once I got that diagnosis because everything just made sense to me then because I was like, this explains why I struggled so much at school. This explains like why I am the way I am, and it it really feels like that dyslexic part of me is part of my identity now. So let me explain why I've started this podcast and why I'm excited about it. So having that dyslexia diagnosis a few years ago has made me very passionate about being dyslexic and helping other people with dyslexia. I I had a successful career in the corporate world over an 18-year period where I took on responsibility. I managed contractors, I managed offices, I managed people. Overall, I had quite a successful career. Now, I also became a qualified coach a couple of years ago, which is something that really aligns with all my personal development stuff. And also, I just really love listening to podcasts. So the thought of actually doing a podcast is really exciting, and I really hope that you get a lot out of what we'll be covering in this podcast. And I've decided to do it in seasons. So the first season, so this season is going to be all about goal setting for dyslexic thinkers, and I'll be covering things like getting out of your comfort zone, why we set goals, resilience, how we deal with things that you know come up in life that may get in the way of achieving our goals. I talk about self-confidence and imposter syndrome all of the time, sharing my own personal stories. And in the final episode, I give you some additional golden nuggets of goal setting to really set you up for success with your goals. So thank you for being here, and I would love to stay in touch with you. I'd love to hear your feedback as well.
