Hello, mamas. I'm Emily. And I'm Ellie. And this is Mama Needs a Minute. We're back and we're in full summer swing. It's been a minute. It's been a minute. Mama needs a minute. A lot of people ask me how we record these. And we had to record, this was like a month ago. Yeah. We haven't recorded in like a month. Yeah, we had to batch and then we took a summer vacation week. And then I we posted one that was from a while ago that probably didn't make sense, but we threw it back in there. Um, whenever you say batch, I just want cookie dough. Yeah, I know. We have so much to catch up on. I know. Where should we start? Travis and Taylor. Oh my God. The things I would do to be in Madison Square Garden for that night. I am curious. I would hide in someone's skirt and have you seen the leaked photos? No. Okay, well, I saw a leaked photo of her dress, but then no one told me I'm it was AI and I saw for anything. I saw the AI photo. Which is so true, I definitely do. But then I saw some true leaked photos of like the inside, like one very blurry picture. And it's giving castle, it's giving love story the music video, but real life. And I saw the handkerchief. Did you see the handkerchief? No. Marin Morris went to the wedding with um, what's her name? Used to be Kelsey Ballerini. And she posted a few photos, and one of them was a handkerchief. Handkerchief? Chief. Handkerchief? Handkerchief. She posted handkerchief that they had gotten and it had TNT and like the date on it. And then at the bottom, it had a quote from Travis Kelsey's favorite Taylor Swift song, which is Blank Space. And it said, so it's gonna be forever with like three dots. So that was very cute. What do you think those celebrities are gonna do with that, Chief? Blow their nose in it. I don't know. Throw it out.

Yeah.

I think that a lot about like when they get gift boxes at events and like the Oscars, you know, everyone always gets like gift bags. Taylor Swift sent home gift boxes, which are rumored to be diamond champagne flutes. All the guests were leaving with these boxes that were monogrammed, and that was a rumor. And you are, you're like, they have a bazillion dollars too. Yeah. I'm torn. Because this, and I think that once again, our country is torn. And I feel like I I am like a a good middle ground because I I wouldn't take a bullet for her and I wouldn't throw her in front of it either. So like I'm like, she's she's cool. I don't know. What? It was a little tone-deaf. The wedding. Yeah. In what regard? That we were using all this electricity when these New Yorkers are literally like passing out of a heat stroke. Yeah. That was a little tone-deaf. Yeah. I don't think that she intended for it to be. Like, clearly, this was planned months in advance, and they didn't realize that we were going to be like literally in the middle of a heat wave. Yeah. They did, though, in Taylor's defense, because I am a Swifty. I it is hard to be a Swifty when you're like, okay, you're a billionaire too. And is any billionaire really ethical? That's a whole different ballgame. That's true. But I am a Swifty. And this week they pledged $26 million to like a bunch of different fundraisers. Maybe that was kind of their way of being like, don't be mad at us. Because they raised money. Yeah. Which I think is great. Yeah. I also think I'm one who thinks that Madison Square Garden, yes, like at its core, sounds tacky as hell. Yes. But also from a security standpoint, I get it. I get it. Yeah. From a security standpoint, where else were they gonna go? Yes. Get that much privacy, hold that many people. She had said on the Graham Norton show, like years ago, whenever they first got engaged, that she was gonna have a big wedding because there was no way she could like dwindle down the guest list. But and everyone's like, her wedding was so tacky. All the clips we see are so tacky. There's a rumor that she walked down the aisle to her own song, like an instrumental of one of her own songs. Guys, she is tacky. She it she is famous for being corny corny and uniquely herself. And I love that about her because she just doesn't give a fuck that she is true millennial cringe. She has the definition of millennial cringe. And you guys are confused why you thought her wedding was not gonna be tacky? I knew it was gonna be tacky. The tackiest. I what I wasn't ready for was Adam Sandler officiating it. Oh, that's hilarious, though. Do you think he wore basketball shorts or do you think he dressed up for the occasion? I can't even think about it. I I can't stand him. You don't like Adam Sandler. What? His humor is not my humor. I'm sure he's nice. I bet he's a really nice guy. Yeah. But I did see this thing that was like, whenever people are shocked that Adam Sandler officiated it, I have to remember that this is also Travis's wedding. Yes. That was probably jokes out. That was his pick. That was his thing. Yeah. Allegedly, they both wore white. And she had her brother, Austin Swift, be best man. And then Travis's brother was the other best man. That crazy. Maid of ma'am. What do you call maid of honor if he's male? Maid of man? Maybe a male of honor. Oh, yes. Man of honor. Man of honor, yeah. I bet that's what they called it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. What's wait, what's the other Kelsey? He only has one brother. What's the brother's name? Oh, um. Oh my god. Keith? No. We don't watch football. The other brother. Yeah, he's nuts. He's so funny. He looks like a big grizzly bear. His wife has a podcast. Actually, Kelsey. Isn't her name Kelsey? No, wait.

SPEAKER_01

Kelsey?

SPEAKER_00

I can't think of his wife's name either. She kept her maiden name. Kelsey Kelsey. Whatever her name is, whatever your name is, put us on your podcast. We got some shit to say. She's actually a boss. I love her too. But yeah. You're a big fan. Whatever her name is. Whatever their names are. I'm big fans of it. I really look up to her. Kyle Kelsey? That'll make sense. Travis and Travis's brother, the football player. It's giving spare. Beautiful, cringy, maybe a little very and that's a cool. Yeah. Yeah. It was just a little tone-deaf, perhaps. Yes. But also, what are you going to do? If I were Billy New Yorker, I would have been annoyed. Yeah. But also. I'm out here trying to get a bagel and I can't because Taylor Swift's got MSG and all the power. And also, like, I'm not one to say she should have had a backyard wedding. Don't you think? Right. Like, what is she going to do? No. You know? That's ridiculous. Invite Gigi Hadide to her backyard in Pennsylvania. As F. Also, like, what were some of those celebrities doing there? Dude, I know. It's like she felt bad, so she just invited everyone. I think that's a good idea. Can you imagine? Can you imagine being the one celebrity like left in Hollywood? Lake Lively. And the Kardashians. Yeah. They're like it. Like it was a desert. Yeah. In LA, there was nobody left. Yeah. Everybody was in New York. Like, what was Brad Pitt doing there? Like, if you really want to take down some celebrities. Oh, wow. There we go. No chance. Well, there's a lot of chances. She probably just called up the academy and said, Can I get the list? Everybody's number. Yeah. Yeah. And they all showed up too. Because you ain't gonna, you're not gonna not go to that. Was Beyonce there? Because I only saw Jay-Z in blue. Not me acting like I was there. Yeah, I actually saw her in the bathroom. I ran into her and we were pattering our noses. She looked lovely. Do you think that they did like normal wedding stuff? Yes, you do. Do you think they like gra he like grabbed her garter with his teeth and pulled it down in front of like Ellen DeGeneres? Was Ellen de Generis there?

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_00

Um like do you think him and his mom dance? Surely they do. Oh, yeah, I'm sure they do. Well, I don't know. Like, did they have that big of a dance floor for all those wedding guests? That is a crazy like she should have invited a couple fans because maybe she did. Yeah, we don't know, I guess. Maybe they signed. Can't you imagine being in that wedding and you're just like casually sitting next to like every celebrity you have ever met? And what if you never met them there together with our microphone? Yeah. That'd be crazy. Actually, I think we would be chill. We would keep it together. I always think in my head, like, I have a plan that if I ever see a celebrity, I'm gonna be so chill that they're honestly gonna be offended. Like, if I'm in the 7-Eleven and Justin Bieber comes up, I'm gonna be like, Oh, you like Mountain Dew? Cool. Like, I will not be like, Are you Justin Bieber? I'll just be like, sick, tats, bro. And then I'll just be like, beam me, beam. Oh my god. I love that song, you know? Bam. It's like my favorite song. I love it. I don't know who sings it, but have I ever met a celebrity? Yeah, it's honestly a sore subject.

SPEAKER_01

Oh I'll get into it.

SPEAKER_00

We have time. I was in high school. My friend was, I guess, yeah, I don't want to say like who he was, because then what if, you know, rumor gets out, and then they're like, oh my God, this girl's talking about me on her famous podcast. Yeah, the way that we think this podcast is blowing up. Anyways, okay, when I was in high school, my one of my best friends had tickets to see a band, a very famous band. And sh her cousin is in the band. He's not the lead singer, he's like the lead guitarist of this band. It's like a 90s band that was really popular for a long time. And we got to go like backstage and like tour his tour bus before he went on because she's cousins with him and blah, blah, blah. And little like sweet, naive me. I was like, oh my God, I'm gonna meet a celebrity. I'm like 15. I grab a notebook and a Sharpie, and I'm like, I'm gonna get an autograph. I'm so excited. This was by the way, before cell phones were really like I didn't even have an iPhone yet. So it's not like I I guess I could have found a camera, but you just didn't do that yet. Well, the cameras existed. I'm not like ancient, but I just didn't have one. So I was like, I'm gonna get this guy's autograph. When the wagon dropped us off when the horse and buggy pulled up, we got there. And I have it in my personal ready to go. And he like shows us his tour bus and he's like, is there anything else you guys like want to see or whatever? And my friend was like, actually, Ellie really wanted to get your autograph. Is that okay? And I like pull, I go to pull out my pen and paper, and he goes, No, I won't be doing that. So dead serious. And we like kind of laughed at first because we thought it was a joke and he wasn't joking. And so then I like shyly put my Sharpie and notepad back in, and I was really embarrassed. Oh and that was, and I was like, you know what they say about bands? What? I don't know. They're dicks, I guess. Maybe he was illiterate. I'm thinking, like, now as a fully frontal lobe developed adult, maybe like because people sell signatures and stuff, like people won't, like some celebrities won't sign blank pieces of paper. They'll only sign like t-shirts or whatever, because people can like take that signature and put it on things and like reproduce it, you know? Like a check. I was thinking like faking like their signature on like CDs and selling them, but yeah, I guess they could also like put their name on a check. I don't know. No, that wouldn't work. You'd have to have the check. It's mostly, I think, mostly like merch. Okay. Like on eBay, they'll be like, signed copy of this CD. Like, and it's because they got their signature and like copied it onto like things. He could have just said, nah, we're not allowed to do that. Yeah, or like I'll sign your t-shirt or like something like that. That's the only time I've ever met a celebrity. I saw Samuel L. Jackson with his family at Disney World. What? Did you say anything? Yeah, I was like, Are you Samuel L. Jackson? You really did? Yeah. And he said, Yeah. No, he said no. He was. Yeah. I mean, obviously. What's he gonna say? He was big, like taller in person? Yeah. Isn't he dead? Oh, that's sad. I don't know. I honestly can't, I'm only picturing like so long ago. I can't even picture his face, but I know who you're talking about. Yeah. So you didn't say, like, can I have a picture? You were very chilly. I have a picture somewhere of him. Not with me in it, but yes. Like, you took a sly picture of him. Yeah. You were like, hold on, say cheese. I mean, it was like very crowded. And I think that we were like, oh my God, that's Samuel L. Jackson. Yeah. Because he was big at the time. Yeah. You know, honestly though, I've probably seen so many celebrities in my life and not recognize them. Cause if you've ever seen like pictures of Pete of celebrities without makeup on and stuff, just like you would probably, and like out of that bubble, obviously, if I'm in LA and someone looks a little bit like Beyonce, I'm gonna be like, yeah, that's fucking Beyonce. Yeah. But if I'm in like the middle of Wisconsin, you know, at a water park and they're there with their family, I'm always there. What celebrity is there? Well, that's my point. Is you're not gonna be like, yeah, is that Haley Bieber? No, why would she be in Wisconsin? And then she probably probably was. And then you'll see it later on the Daily Mail. It's kind of like when you were like in second grade and you saw your teacher at the grocery store and you're like, why do I know that lady? Yes, she looks so familiar. Mrs. Daniels? Is that you? Yeah, it's like that. What's that in your hand? Is that wine or liquor? Uh I'm sure we would have recognized all of them at Taylor and Travis's wedding, though. Oh, for sure. They're star studied. I love it. The real deal. No, I love them. Yes. Um, a baby now. I hate that people are always like asking her that. So I've never personally asked her. But I just wonder like if she will be done now. And also something really sad I thought about the other day is we will never get another tortured poets part rent. Like we will never get that kind of sadness from her ever again. We'll probably just keep getting like life of a showgirl. Which we'll probably not get because I think she's gonna have six kids. You I think she may come out with like one more album and maybe it's like debut, Taylor Swift. Like she'll re-release her debut album like she had kind of planned to do before she got her music back. And then yeah, I think then we won't see her for a long hot minute. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. She's gonna go, yeah. She's gonna go be married and be a mom and do it. Live in Wisconsin. And he is very family oriented. Obviously, his brother, who has yet to be named, very family oriented. Their families are this is the this is the real deal. They're gonna settle down, have kids. This is not a Hollywood vibe, you know what I mean? Right. This is like real. What will she name her babies? And I'm so curious. Probably like Mackenzie. Yeah, I know. It's very novel. Very millennial. Yeah. Yeah. What is that guy's name? I don't want to Google it. Yeah, I'm gonna Google it. Okay, tell me what it starts with. Okay. I'm gonna think of it. It's driving me nuts. Oh, yeah, I know it now. What does it start with? A J. I don't even know it. Okay. And a J-A. Jake. No. J son. Jason's. Yes, that's what's Jason. Jason. Yeah, he is a Jason. Yeah. Anyways, what's next? What's that? What else is new? Yeah, what else is new? If you guys remember a couple weeks ago, Emily went to family camp. It's where her whole big extended family goes and stays in a cabin in the woods. It sounds like a scary movie. To some it would be. To Emily, it's a joy. You know what actually does? It was so fun. The one thing that does scare me, and like healthcare providers can understand this, is that I always think when we get there, I'm like, okay, if one of these people goes down, who can help me? Because you're the only medical professional of the extended family. No, there's another nurse. There's an OT. I mean, we can be able to do that. Okay. You need to do like, you know how we every like six months have to do these where we all come together and like do a mock code. Like right when you or like when you first board a cruise ship and they make you do that safety thing. Okay, but you guys need to sign roles. When we do it, we don't tell anybody it's a mock. Yeah. Somebody falls down like clue. I need to know. And then somebody, the person who collapses needs to know. Nobody else. You weren't there through the fourth. You've been home. Yes, we were home. Happy Fourth of July. What'd you guys do? Oh, funny you ask. Uh, I have a horrible story to tell. Oh. What? No, I I just like have I always joke about this. And if you know me, you know I just don't have good luck. Like Noah and I always joke that we should not have gotten married for this reason alone because we both are unlucky people. We never win giveaways. Like if something but if it if they're like, oh, it's surely not gonna rain on your wedding day. It rained on our wedding day. There was like a 10% chance of rain on our wedding day, and it rained. Like just that kind of like unlucky. If something's gonna happen, it happens to us. So double whammy for both of us. I can attest to this. Yes, that's true. Throw into the mix that we are both type B people. Both my husband and I like can get a little rocky because you've gotta have a type A person on in your life to kind of keep everything straight. And we're both type B in our own ways. And so, 4th of July, we had plans to go back to our hometown, which is about an hour away from where we live now. He goes outside to start the car and get it like aired up because it was super hot.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

We go out the door, we all get in the car, we're literally about to leave. And my husband was like, What does that smell? And I said, Oh, it's my lunchbox from last night. I left it in here. And I had tacos. You could just kind of like smell like everything. And he was like, I'm gonna run this inside. And so he ran my lunchbox inside. He gets back in the car. We drive an hour away to our hometown. We get to my mother-in-law's and we shut the car off. We go inside to collect my mother-in-law and we go back outside and go to start our car. And it won't start. And it says no key detected. And I was like, where are the car keys? And my husband was like, I don't know. Where are the car keys? I didn't take them out of here. And I was like, I didn't take him out of here. They've been here since I got home from work. And we then both realized that they were in the lunchbox that is an hour back to our home. And we are now stranded with no car key back in my hometown. Why does a car let you do that? That's my main question. You know what my car does? It doesn't turn on unless like it. And I wish I had that, honestly, because honestly, like what this actually sounds horrible. What my sister was like, what if you would have stopped at a gas station? Like, what if you would have turned your car off in the drive-thru? Like you would have been stranded even worse. And at least we were at my mother-in-law's house. So we we caught a locksmith and then our our bad luck, the guy was like, the equinox guy's out for the week. He, of course, yeah, the equinox guy's out. Naturally. Um, he's yeah, he's like, we got the Jeep guy. That'll help. No, it won't. Thank you. Of course, the one guy needs out for the whole week. So we couldn't get a replacement key. So we ended up just like staying the night with our family back in our hometown. And then the next day, we were able to go home. I was like, we cannot let this ruin our day and think about it all day. And it's just gonna be what it is. We're gonna have to do a lot of driving tomorrow. Let's just figure it out tomorrow because we're already here and the kids are ready to go swimming. And, you know, we ended up having a great day. We swam and we had a cookout and we did all the fourth of July things, fireworks, whatever. But yeah, I just put a little bump in the road. What would you do? We went to uh a friend's house for a cookout. Shout out to our friends who are listeners. Fun. We called it the No Lake Friends Cookout because you know, everybody's always at the lake. Where's this lake? Yeah. Like, what lake? Yeah. And why does everyone know a friend who everyone's on a lake? Yes. And I'm like, where's my aunt? What the lake? Well, I don't, but yeah. Yeah, no, we don't either. So we're just here in the backyard. But it was a great uh Did you eat a glizzy? What's a glizzy? You don't know what a glizzy is? No, it's a hot dog. I do love a hot dog. I went for a bird. You love a glizzy. I do. And it was just like a 90s, 4th of July. The kids played in a little pool and we lit sparklers, which was such a scent memory. Yes. As soon as you I love that smell. Yeah. I love the smell of a firework that's just fun off. Lakes are so scary as a parent. We I was just having this conversation with my friends. Like once you become a parent, you're like, what? I can't see them in this water. I kind of hate it. Yeah. Lake Michigan, a little bit better, you know, bigger lakes where it's clearer, but like a small lake or reservoir, like that's kind of crazy. No, it's actually making me sick. It makes me scared. Yeah. To even think about. I actually really hate like the idea of something dropping into the water and it's gone. And you can't see it. No, it's just gone. Yeah. Yeah. Or when she drops it into the I thought she dropped it into the ocean at the end. But I thought the old lady in the ocean. Well, baby. I went down and got it for you. No, I really hate it. Oops. I and then she fucking dies on the boat. I thought we were talking about Britney Spears' song. No, we're talking about old Rose. She's the villain. But wait, were you quoting Britney Spears a second ago? I was, but Okay, okay, but then we've moved on to the title. Okay. You met this man who has committed his career to finding this necklace. You have it in your fucking pocket. And you talked to him. 84 years old or whatever. 84 years old. First of all, your family lived through the fucking depression, and you didn't say, hey folks, I think I could help us if we just sold this necklace. Yeah. You held on to it and then tossed it in the ocean. You let your family like run out of soap. And you ate rats. Yeah. And then you get on this boat. Yeah. And this man's like, if only I could find this necklace. And then you said, you know what? I'm actually gonna throw it into the ocean, just like I did Jack. But wait, do we know? Okay, continue. And then she fucking dies on the boat. Yeah. So now they wake up and they're like, Great, now we have a dead body that we have to get. No heart of the ocean. No necklace to speak of. But but she didn't marry Jack, so she didn't marry poor. So how do we know she didn't just go back home and marry wealthy? They never tell us. She didn't how do you know she didn't marry poor? How do you know she didn't marry wealthy? You don't. But you see like the picture, she looks comfortable. She looks, yeah. Yeah, she did all the things. But you're right. You have a good argument for sure. Yeah. She's the villain. Yeah, I agreed. Yeah. And then people always talk about how the inscene that's clearly like her in heaven, or you know, she's gone ahead. Yeah. Seeing Jack at the stairs. And like her husband of 50 years is like, hello. That's so true. No, that's like that movie Eternity. That is a perfect example. We were talking about a couple months ago. She said, first things first, I need to speak to the man that I had a one-night stand with. On a both the sink that I knew for three days. That's the actual love of my life. And I just tolerated you and had babies with you. Yeah. Next. She's the villain. That's actually hilarious to think about. Anyways. You watching the World Cup? No. Okay, moving on. Okay. What have you been? Where's your spirit? Well, so one more thing, and then I guess we can get into it. I have been trying a new genre out of books. And I absolutely hate it so far. And that genre is thriller.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And I must not be dabbling in the right thrillers because so far I'm two for two disappointed. And I'm going back to Smut. And I think this second book has confirmed that. Here's my issue this far. I've actually read three thriller books now and been disappointed by all three. I started with a Freedom McFadden book. I'm not even gonna get into the title because I don't even remember it. It was that unmemorable. But just know, and I guess this is a spoiler alert for the book, but you don't know what book I'm talking about. So I guess skip if you don't even want to hear it. But okay, at the beginning of the book, we're trying to figure out who the killer is, right? And they mention to us, they're like, well, what about this girl? And they're like, oh, she's dead. Not she's presumed dead, or we never found her body, or she went missing, and so everyone just thinks she's dead. Matter-of-fact statement, she's dead. We don't hear from her the entire book. And at the very end of the book, she's the killer. What? No, that's so weird. That's lazy writing. That's lazy writing. I love a thriller show mostly, but I'm like trying to get into books. And I do love a good plot twist. But I need to be able to see the plot twist and then be like, oh my God, that makes so much sense. Looking back on it, there were all these signs I didn't pick up, or that's that's why this happened. Like, oh my God, I did not see that coming. That's a good twist. If you tell me she's dead and then I don't hear from her the entire book, and then you tell me she's actually alive and is the killer. Yeah. That's lazy writing. Yeah. That's just poor writing. That was my first mistake. Then I read The Perfect Marriage. Now, this is a spoiler alert for the perfect marriage. So skip 30 seconds if you don't want a spoiler alert. Have you ever read The Perfect Marriage? I don't read Thriller. Okay. I don't read her. I don't watch it. The plot of the perfect marriage was that this woman is a lawyer, one of the top lawyers in the state. Her husband gets put on trial for murder because he, his mistress, is murdered. And so she defends her husband in this murder case. You see two point of views the entire time. You see his point of view and you have her point of view. It's not that you just hear her talking and you don't know what's really going on in her mind. I'm getting her narration the entire book. She's confused when she finds out about the affair. She's digging hard into this investigation. She's trying to figure out who could have murdered her husband. She's looking up all these clues and trying to get all this information and she's going to find this person and talk to this person. She did it. She did it. At the very end, he gets convicted and she says she finally acknowledges to him that she did it. That's an unreliable narrator. Now, I don't mind an unreliable narrator if they're like cuckoo and you know they're kind of crazy. And you know, they're unreliable in that way. But you can't not tell me she's an unreliable narrator with herself. You know what I mean? I'm hearing her talk to herself and going, well, why would that be that? I just don't understand how he could do this. Or, well, who would do that? And why would that, why would the murder weapon be like this? Bitch, you know why the murder weapon would be like that. It's your murder weapon. Now you're just now that's lazy writing. And a friend of mine was like, I think that these thriller um authors, they get so caught up in needing that shock factor, that big wow, I can't believe that happened, that they just like pull it out of their ass at the end. And I 100% agree with that. Yeah. So I've been disappointed three times and I'm going back to SMUT. And my friend was like, well, there's not very good plot in SMUT. And I was like, well, at least there's action. Yeah. At least I'm entertained. Yeah. And that would keep you awake too. And that would keep me awake. I agree. So if you guys have any thriller recommendations, I guess let me know because I I don't want to give up on thrillers, but I am kind of giving up because now I'm three books deep and I've been disappointed. And I'm not reading like unheard of thrillers. Like these are pretty popular thrillers that I'm reading that people are recommending and they suck ass. Yeah. So, anyways, this week we're talking about your guys' summer faves. So I had you guys write in any of your summer faves. It could be makeup, skincare, it could be a location, it could be something kid-related or not care related. I wanted to curate a list of everyone's favorites so far so that if your summer sucks and you have like a couple months to improve it with everyone's favorites. Let's do it. Okay. Do you want to go? Do you want to say some of yours? Yeah. Okay. I love that sunscreen deodorant stick thing that you put on their face. My what deodorant? It looks like deodorant, but it's sunscreen. I have that. I love it. Well, I have a version of it. I have the blue lizard one. Is that what you have? No, Neutrogena. Okay, but same thing. It's like a stick and you just rub it on their face. Obsessed. Yeah. So easy. Yeah. Kids never whine and complain. Nope. I love it. Obsessed. I was doing a beauty sponge, the beauty sponge hack for a while. And then this is kind of a new thing. And now I'm like, fuck the beauty sponge. It's much easier. You just draw it on like paint. Yes. Yeah. So I love that. I also love spray sunscreen. And that's a hot take. Really? Because people are using watermelon juice. Yeah. And also because I think the spray's bad. Why? Chemically? I know it's like bad for the environment. I don't know. Like it's like it's very bad for the coral reef. I don't fucking know. But we're in Indiana. All I know is you're gonna get some side eyes. But I don't Wow. I've been I've been spraying it up. I don't care. I love easy sunscreen on children. Yeah. And going along with that, I love a splash pad. I do. I have a hot take, and that's that I don't like a splash pad. But my kids, I think I've mentioned this before, they get so bored. Like five minutes in, they're bored of the splash pad. I just went this afternoon. They splashed for an hour. I love that it's free. Yes. I love that there's a lot of them. There's that, but like Julian, he is a fish. Like he wants to be in the water. He wants to be under it. Yeah, I get that. I feel like Caleb is still so little that he likes the excitement of like splashing in puddles. Yes. Yeah. No, I love a splash pad. And it's no work for me. No. Like I was just chilling. Like free, and it's like a big sprinkler to them. And they're not gonna drown. And I don't have to pack their life jackets. Yes. And it's just good old-fashioned fun. Yeah. Okay, my turn. My first summer fave has been this is kind of my only bougie one, which is not even really bougie, is my bog bag, B-O-G-G. Oh, do you have the real life one? I got it as a birthday gift from my bestie. And I will say it is very nice to have it because it can get wet and it's not gonna get yucky. It's easy to clean. And I have all those little pouches that click onto the inside so it can keep all my shit organized. And it holds a lot of stuff. The only downside is that it's kind of hard, like it's heavy on your shoulder. And like you're not gonna go hiking with it though. You're just gonna walk to the beach and sit it down. But it holds a lot of stuff, and I've been loving it. I can put everything in there and I kind of, for the most part, keep it packed and then just like throw in towels, and I'm like good to go. People love a boss. And I, you know, you're always like, it's kind of like what we're gonna talk about next week with is like, is it worth it or not? And you see them and you're like, is it really worth it? It's kind of an expensive bag. I'm sure they have dupes. I actually know they have dupes because I used to have the oldie dupe for a while before my friend got me the actual one. And it's not much different. I mean, a dupe works just as good. Any kind of bag like a bog bag is a must for me. That's a really nice gift. Yeah, it was for my 30th birthday. I love it. I know. And she got me a little like cooler that can an insert so you can like pack cooler. Oh my gosh. Yeah, and speaking of cooler, a little summer hack. If you haven't, I'm sure everyone's seen this because everyone owns Pinterest on their phone. But have you ever put your popsicles in like a hydro flask or like a Yeti? No. Yeah, we have been doing it all summer since I saw that hack. Like last year. That is so smart. You it just has to be able to close. I can't have like a hole. But I put popsicles in there and then fill it with ice and shut it, and it's lasted hours. That is so smart. And then they get all the pool and I give them popsicles and I love that. Yeah, it's a good hack. My second summer fave has been my, it's actually skincare makeup related. It's not kid related at all. It's actually my skin like foundation that I've been wearing all summer. I've never gotten so many compliments. Like, I a wait, my waitress the other day was like, What are you wearing? Like a tinted sunscreen. Not really, but kinda, is the ELF sunscreen. Now it is like SPF 30. So if you're needing the big boy, the SPF 50, I don't know that e.l.f. makes that in this specific sunscreen. It's their e.l.f. like super glow sunscreen. And it does have a little bit of a tint to it, but I mix it with the Lumi Glotion. It's like a little tube. Both of these are like 10 bucks probably or less. And you can get it at Walmart. And I buy the Lumi Glotion, and that does have like a bronze tint. And I mix those together and I just like rub it on my face like lotion, and it is like a tinted sunscreen. And that's what I've been wearing all summer. Oh, that's so smooth. And you can reapply it so easily because it's just sunscreen. You don't need like a beauty blender. You literally could just put it in your bag and like rub it on. And it makes you feel more put together in the summer when you're like, I don't want to wear foundation or skin, even skin tint. No. Because it's literally just sunscreen mixed with a lotion. And then my next summer fave has been Love Island. I know you don't watch Love Island. I don't. I need you to watch next year for the pod. Okay. Do you know what it's about? Do you know the premise? I know nothing. Okay. Let me tell you and everybody else who doesn't watch. Now you're pretty late to the game if you start now. You can still watch it and you're not gonna catch up, but you could watch it and they have all the previous seasons. I watch it on Peacock. I don't know if that's the only place you can watch it. But the absolute best thing about Love Island is that it is on starting like the first week of June, and it is on every single night besides Wednesdays and Saturdays until mid-July. So basically your whole summer is just set with TV. Every night you have something to watch, pretty much. Besides like Wednesdays and Saturdays is kind of just their like little interview thing. Yeah, but like God forbid you get behind. Yeah, then you are kind of screwed. But TV shows kind of suck in the summertime and you don't have anything to watch, and you're tired as hell at the end of the day because you just went to the splash pad. Yeah. And you're like, I have nothing to watch right now. Love Island. It's on every, almost every single day. And it's in real time, basically. It's filmed like a day before. The purpose of it is there's like, they start off with like five guys and five girls, and they go to this villa in Fiji, and they're trying to form connections and form a couple and stay in their couple. And then at the end of the uh season, America votes on their favorite couples, and the winning couple goes home with like $100,000. So you're kind of the point of it is to find a couple, make a good match, stay in this couple, and then win your $100,000 at the end. Throughout the summer, though, there's little hiccups. There's challenges that could make or break it. America, we the people have voting power. We can vote on whether we want to couple this person up with this person. If we want to break up couples, and we can vote for our favorite couples. And also throughout the summer, they have what's called bombshells, which are like hot guys or girls that come in throughout the summer to kind of shake things up. So you might have a bombshell come in and there's a couple that's really strong. And then that couple, the guy or the girl, falls for this bombshell and it breaks up that couple, and then they become a new couple. Is there ever like a guy and a girl together and then the girl falls for the bombshell girl? That has happened. Yeah. The host, Ariana Maddox, somebody asked her in an interview, like at the beginning of this season, why there's never like two guys or two girls. And she's like, Oh, that's totally implausible. And that could happen. It just doesn't really ever happen. But it's not like it's banned. It could happen. So it's not like frowned upon. It just doesn't usually happen very often. And it is just drama after drama. And it's just so fun. It does sound fun. It's a fun summer experience. Is it kind of scripted or no? No. No, you don't think so? No. I do think producers can get a little involved sometimes. You can tell they're kind of maybe like play on the store. But for the most part, they're supposed to be left out of it. It's just so fun. Also, if you do watch Love Island, fuck Sincere, fuck KC. And I love Trinity and Bryce. And you only know that if you listen. So okay. That's it for me. Good. What did our friends write? Let's see. I'm one of those early risers that go to the gym. I wake up at 5 a.m. before my two littles. Is this you? No, I don't go to a gym. I'm oh yeah, that's right. I'm currently breastfeeding, so I stay away from the typical pre-workout, but need caffeine that early in the morning. I found an energy drink called Bubbler, and it's only 65 milligrams of caffeine, and it's made from tea rather than a bunch of unknowns. It's the perfect amount to get me up and going, and it's so yummy, and it hasn't affected my supply or my baby's mood or sleep. I highly recommend. I've had a bubbler. I've had a bubbler. I like a bubbler. Did you bubble? I bubbled a bit. I mean, I didn't bubble like an Alani or a Red Bull would bubble me, but yeah. I was bubbling. Okay. I was blown out a little bit. Okay. Yeah. Yum. Okay. Elta MD face sunscreen is a thousand out of ten. Oh my god, I've always wanted to try. I've never heard of this. It's like kind of high-end. I think you can get it at Target, though. So it's still drugstore. Um, and I have heard it is worth it. Mmm. Yeah. Me and my elf were going strong though, but really like the Neutrogenette. Sunscreen? Yeah. Face sunscreen is so hard because you have to walk a fine line between having a white cast if you're not a pale person. So you might not have that issue, but I actually hate it. And like oily. Some of it can be very oily. Yeah, I can use a little bit of oil though. My fit my skin is dry. Uh-huh. Um, even in the summer, it's dry. I just don't like being broke out and like feeling like yucky. Yeah. But I think I have tried the Neutrogena. That might be in my swim bag. I actually use the CeraVe on my face. Oh, okay. The tinted one. It's good. I like a tint. Okay. Anything from Kula spelled C-O-O-L-A. They have SPF makeup, face mist, primers, lip balms, and scalp spray. I've been actually wanting to buy more makeup that's just sunscreen. Yes. And I knew that they made them, but I didn't have a good brand. Like a blush that's a sunscreen. Spray. That's a good idea. Yeah, because I usually just spray sunscreen. That probably makes my hair really oily. It's not specifically made for that. Yeah. On your scalp. I'd love that one. Kula. C-O-O-L-A. Maybe they can sponsor us. Yeah, cool. Where are you? Pampers never knocked. You can knock. Claw clip for my hair because that's all I can do with this humidity. Hell yeah. Yeah, I do love a claw clip. I love a claw clip. Except I always thought I was doing the best thing for my hair by putting it in a claw clip instead of like a hair tie. Um, because you know, like if have you ever gone to the hair salon and the the hairstylist is like, I can tell you put your hair in a ponytail because you get that like breakage point where the ponytail always is. So I always wear my hair in a claw clip. And then the last time I went to get my hair done, my hairstylist was like, Do you wear your hair in a claw clip? And I was like, bitch, how do you know? And she said, I can see the where the breakage is, where your claw clip is always at. I was like, I cannot win. No, there's no way. Yeah, there's no winning unless you just like wear your hair down all the time, which she's gonna do that. No, not me, not mother. No. And I said, What's the best alternative? And she's like, a silk scrunchie. Oh, oh, look at you. I'm an A plus student. Yeah. I have one in right now. But I don't wear that like out of my house. I wear them to like bed. No, I wear them out. You do? Yeah. You wear them to work? Yeah. Or a clip. Yeah. But a clip's not good. Well, whatever. Anyways, love a claw clip. My hair is just an endless claw clip, always. Yeah. Okay. Next one. Okay, someone said SPF, and someone also said sunscreen stick, which you also said. Yes. So we love a sunscreen stick. We love a stick. The last one is a neck fan. Oh my gosh. I saw a girl with one of those at the 4th of July grade, and I was like, damn, what I wish. She's on some there. Yeah. Have you heard of the I think it's made by Shark who makes vacuums and also like hair? Immediately I know I can't afford it, but come on. It's called like the shark pill. No. I want to get this right. Do I swallow it? No. You swallow it and it makes you cool. Um, it's called the shark chill pill. It's a portable fan, but you put like ice in it or something. I don't know exactly the mechanism by which it works, but then it spews out cold air. Incredible. Like it's like a mini air conditioner in your hand. Instead of like, you know, a neck fan is just like hot air, which is still great, but this shark chill pill is cold air. Incredible. You don't even want to know the price. I'm gonna, I'm gonna have you guess the price, actually. I already know. How big is it? Um, let me show you the picture. Is it a stroller fan size? No, it's tiny. It's probably like the size of your hand. $129.99. Okay, hold on, hold on. Damn. This is like, what is that called? The Price is Right. This is what it looks like. $129.99. And it spews out cold air. This is how you can use it. $199. $129.99. What was the guy's name from Price Is Right? Fuck. Why can't we remember anyone's name today? Anyways, it's $150. That's ridiculous. For this high-speed cooling fan. Bill. Bill. Was it Bill? Damn it. What was his name? Longtime television icon Bob Barker. Bob Barker. I knew it was alliteration. Anyways, there's have you ever seen Happy Gilmore? I think that's the word it's in. It's because you hate Adam Sandler, but Adam Standler is playing this like golf or whatever, and he like beats Bob Barker, and he goes, The price is wrong, bitch. Anyways, actually, Bob. That brings us right into our next episode. Yeah. Splurge or splash. Yeah. Which is great because that we're out. That's it. That's all we got. Yes. The price is right or wrong. Yeah. I had you guys write in whether you feel like certain things are worth it. I kind of had a little poll on Instagram, so we'll talk about that. And you guys wrote in what things that you thought maybe were worth the money or not worth the money, and you could do with like a dupe or like a lower version. So we'll see if the price is wrong, bitch. Yeah, that'll be fun. Everybody have a great weekend. I hope you take all these faves and use them, I guess. Mainly it was sunscreen. The point of this was everyone wear your sunscreen. That's such a good point. Yes. Okay. See you in a minute.
