Hello Mamas. I'm Emily. And I'm Ellie. And this is Mama Needs a Minute. It's done.
SPEAKER_02It's really good. Mariah carries somewhere. Defrosting. As we speak.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. That's what they say.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, and Sanderson sisters are awakening. You know. From the dead. From the virgin who lights the candle. That movie really isn't something that I need to watch. Really? You didn't like it? I watched it with Julian last year and he said, Mommy, what's a virgin? And I was like, ah, fuck. Yeah. Because the virgin lights the candle, you know. I don't know. That's how they come back to life. Well, it's got the book, you know, the book that they have and the candle. And she made they cast a spell whenever they were like going away and getting trapped or whatever. And a virgin has to light, which is crazy for a Disney movie. Yeah. A virgin has to light the candle, and then when they do, then the Sanderson sisters come back. So they were like, a virgin lit the candle. And Julian's like, what's a virgin? I feel like I remember asking my babysitter this.
SPEAKER_00What a virgin was. I know I did. Because I remember it was in a parent trap. Something in the wine cellar, the mom said something about like losing her virginity. And I was like, what does that even mean? And my babysitter was this like sweet, like 60-year-old lady who just watched us before the bus came, and she was like, get on the bus.
SPEAKER_02I don't think she answered because I remember I stewed on it all day.
SPEAKER_00And then I like went home and asked my mom.
SPEAKER_02And you have you ever like made up your own conclusion when you were like eight? You're like, I know what a virgin is.
SPEAKER_01No, I don't think so.
SPEAKER_02It's someone who like eats a lot of snacks. They always talk about, you know, wrapping it and how sweet it is. Like, you know, you hear like context clues. Rappers, like wrapping paper or rappers like wrapping it. When you think of a bigger, but then they're probably like, it's probably like a wrapper, like a candy wrapper. So it's probably somebody who eats too many sweets.
SPEAKER_00But why are we when do we talk about rapping with a virgin?
SPEAKER_02Like, yes. Are you having a straw? You talk about it when you're like learning it, you know, your parents like, be safe. Wrap your willy, don't be safe. Using a condom does not make you a virgin. It's just something that's talked about alongside virginity. It's like something that's also talked about. Oh my god. Is wrapping your willies. I'm not following your tree of thoughts. Somebody out there is. I don't know. Somebody out there, yes, somebody out there followed that to a T. We'll find out. I'm leaving it in.
SPEAKER_00How did we get here?
SPEAKER_02I'm leaving it in, and somebody's gonna tell me they figured they got what I meant. Virgin. Yeah, we were talking about. What's the movie? Hocus Pocus. That's it. Yeah. But I kind of want to go see that new practical magic. Oh, yeah. I watched the first one, but only like one time. I wouldn't I don't know. It's not my fall movie movie. No. You know what is an overlooked fall movie? What?
SPEAKER_00You've got mail.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I don't think I've seen it one time, I think a long time ago. Oh my god. Long time ago. Is that where they sent the letters to each other? The emails. But they were like in a different time zone. No. No, no. That was like past and present. Time traveler's wife. No, no, I wasn't thinking of that. I do love that movie too, but that's not what I was thinking of. I thought they were like one was like lived in the house and then died, and somehow they were writing letters.
SPEAKER_00No, Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks, and they were sending emails and it was like 1999.
SPEAKER_02Oh no, I know. That's not what I was thinking of. Oh, yeah. It's a great movie. You should watch it. I went to the state fair last week. I don't recommend that. Not pregnant. Yeah, I did it pregnant. I can't say I didn't warn you. Six months pregnant to be exact. Yeah. I I want to say it was half fun, half miserable. I got in for free because they do like a first responder week where if you're a first responder, then you could just like show your badge and get in for free. So it's not like I like paid extra to go. But you're not a first responder. Yeah, they count it. Well, they should call it medical workers week. Well, I'm responding first to the hospital. But that's not a first responder. Wait, what's the difference between a first responder and an EMT? An EMT is a first responder. They get to the scene first. Oh, I think there's a difference. Should we Google this? No, I don't know. I know I'm not a first responder. I do know that, but they count it. An EMT is a type of first responder, but not every first responder is an EMT.
SPEAKER_00First responder is a broad term for someone who arrives early to an emergency and provides help. This can include police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and sometimes other trained emergency personnel. Now tell me this.
SPEAKER_02If you okay.
SPEAKER_00I think we've talked about the airplane before. That we are In what context? We are not raising our hands.
SPEAKER_02Oh no. Unless someone hemorrhage.
SPEAKER_00Unless someone is hemorrhaging from their vagina and they need their uterus massaged.
SPEAKER_02Or they need breastfeeding help. Then we can Painfully so in that moment.
SPEAKER_00If this is your first episode, we are postpartum nurses because if you didn't know that, that would be really weird comments.
SPEAKER_01I only wonder if she's bleeding out her badge or leaking out her dick.
SPEAKER_02It'll help. But have you ever had to like stop in an accident? Or would you? Hell no. I have not ever done that, nor should I need to. Actually, one time, but this was when I was in nursing school, and we were at a concert and a guy like bashed his head on the sidewalk. He like passed out. He was drunk, bashed his head. And we were the first responders because nobody else was around. We had a me and my nursing school friend, we had to go get help.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I know you guys loved that.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. Yeah, we were like, what's this Glasgow coma scale?
SPEAKER_01You know, you're like pulling out all the words, you know. Yes, from nursing school. So eager. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02We're like, does anybody have a pin light? I need to check his people's. We really were. We really were. And then like the team came over, you know, the medical team that they have, and they were like, Yeah, we've thank you, ladies, for your brave work, but we've got it from here. We were like, okay, sure, I guess. We'll wait for our medal. Valor, our daisy. Other than that, no, I've never like been the first to meet either. I've never seen anything like that.
SPEAKER_00We were on a date one time downtown, and there was this guy that was like collapsed. And there were these two valet parkers who were very young looking. I was like, I can't believe you guys have driver's licenses. Yeah. And they were like standing over the sky, and they said, We called the ambulance on their way. And I said, Okay, did you check a pulse?
SPEAKER_02And they were like, What? That's a good idea. Yeah. And was he dead? No, he did have a pulse. Okay.
SPEAKER_00And I he'd be like, Well, cancel the Uber. I said, baby, baby, are you okay? You get that if you're a healthcare worker. But he kind of like, I said, All right, we're good. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Wait for the ambulance. Yeah. I've done my job here. Yeah. You'll get your Narcan in a minute. But yeah. So that was kind of crazy.
SPEAKER_02But wait. I don't really need to be the hero. No. I don't live for that. No. I'm okay. I'm okay behind the scenes. Maybe give me, you know, a couple daisies, call it a day. That's it. Yeah. I don't need to be the winner. No.
SPEAKER_00There's always gonna be the one.
SPEAKER_02There's somebody, there's always gonna be somebody in the room that wants to be the winner. Yes. So I can take a step back. Yeah, and I'm okay with that. Yeah, me too.
SPEAKER_00Shine. I'll I'll hold this flashlight so that you can really shine bright. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So how are you feeling the worst? I'm having like the worst heartburn right now. And it's like making me like, I can feel my stomach like grumbling. Should we do we should do a poll when it gets closer? We should do a poll. Boy girl poll. Somebody just asked me yesterday. You know, you are wink wink. She was like, no, you can't. I don't like this maternity leave thing. Like, you can't do that. You need to because I listen to you every week faithfully, and you just can't go on maternity leave. And I was like, I understand this. However, I will have nothing good to say for at least six weeks. I will have nothing to honestly. I will be so boring. There'd be I can't even, I won't even be able to think a thought to then say it into the microphone.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02There's just no way. Maybe I'll feel great though. But someone was like, if you did um while Ellie was on maternity leave, you could have guests co-hosts. I was like, well, then who would edit? Yeah. Who would come up with the theme? Because this is where who would post on the Instagram? My job stops. All I do is talk. Yeah, because other podcasts do like a maternity leave of sorts. My current pool is a boy for sure. Yeah, it's a boy. But my husband thinks it's a girl. I don't know why he thinks his father intuition is better than motherhood intuition. Just crazy. Yeah. Um, but he thinks it's a girl. He's like dead set on its girl. And I hope, honestly, that it's a boy just for the fact that I have a boy name. We have no girl names. And we can't decide. And we can't. And then you'd be right. And he'd have to say, Oh my god, I would hate to be like, you were right. There was a girl and your intuition was better. Yeah. No. Baby names are so hard for Noah and I because one, he has two language floating around, two languages floating around in his head. So he's always thinking, like on both ends of the coin. So, like, you know, like for us, we'd be like, oh, we can't name the baby. We can't name the baby Ploop because it sounds too much like poop in English. He has a general rule. Um, I would avoid Ploop. But you know what I mean. I couldn't think of anything off the top of my head. I couldn't think of anything off the top of my head. Like Ploop was the first thing that came into your head. Like Clint sounds a lot like Clint. So you're like, oh God. What if someone's listening and their name's Clint?
SPEAKER_00I know. That's why I went with Ploop. Okay, let's go back to Ploop. Sorry, Clint.
SPEAKER_02But you know what I mean. Yeah. You're like, that sounds too much like a word in English. It's like kind of like, you know, not a very appropriate word for a baby. He has that, but he also has Spanish too. So like there are some names that I'll bring up to him, and he's like, that literally sounds like the word for like shit in Spanish or the word for asshole in Spanish. And he's like, my family's gonna call the kid asshole. And we can't do that. Yeah. And so that one that's hard for the first part of it. And then the second part of it is like I it has to flow with the other kids' names. I can't have a Julian, a Mila, and a Bob. It just doesn't fit. Yeah. And the third part that is hard is that Noahy is Hispanic and I just feel like you can't. I can't gotta co I gotta go somewhere that's cohesive to both of our cultures. So like I can't name the baby like Richard, yeah, Henry. I also can't name the baby Jose. Like it's just in my head. It has to be a good, like Mexican-American name. Yeah. You know, maybe I overthink it, but doesn't everybody overthink their baby names? Naturally.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Although I I was one who I always had like, I was like, let's just commit and name them now.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Like it's really interesting. A lot of people do have a baby and they're like, I need to look at them first.
SPEAKER_02Yes. I was always kind of that way. Like, I have the name, but I'm not gonna tell you for sure 100% that this is going to be the name. Well, like I will say, like, it's probably gonna be Billy. It's not gonna be Billy, but it's probably gonna be Billy. We that's the name we like. But I'm not gonna start like engraving baby name blankets and totes.
SPEAKER_00You always go through and you're like, oh no, because kids will make fun of them for this. We really overestimate children's creativity. Yeah. I really liked the name Porter for Caleb. And Marco was like, no, people, the kids will call him Porter Potty.
SPEAKER_02I like the name Porter, that's cute.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and I was like, okay, Marco, you survived being Marco Bolo on the playground.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, nobody thinks about till they're adults, and then they're probably like, damn it, I could have bullied that kid so much harder. Yeah. If I just would have been as crafty as I am now. Yeah. Yeah, that's so true. But you just overthink it because you're like, I'm naming a kid. That's such a hard decision. And then also with the third baby, like I have a I picked out my I had a boy. I that was my number one boy name. We had a girl, that was my number one girl name. This baby is, you know, what now? Number, what's number two? I don't have a number two.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02You know? But you're saying you have a boy name. But we do have a boy name. Okay, but not a girl. We don't have a girl name. That's all right. We have had this boy name since we were pregnant with Mila, which is another thing. I feel like sometimes people are like, if it's a girl, we're naming her Lucy, if it's a boy, we're naming her Billy, and then it ends up being a girl, and they're like, Well, we can't use Billy because that was gonna be her boy name. Like they really just like throw that name out the window. Yeah, I don't feel that way. Oh, it's funny because yeah, like Nora's boy name was not Caleb. Yeah, see? It was Thomas, which is crazy. Yeah, that is crazy. So you didn't even consider Thomas for the second? Yeah, no, I don't I don't feel that way. If I like it, I'm just gonna I was like, that was it never got used. Yeah, it was attached to Nora. Yeah, people feel that way. I don't feel that way, but also just not knowing the gender, it's like I can't really solidify one or the other. I have to have two names. Is it driving you nuts that you don't know the gender? No, it's not. I think about it so little. And it's so weird. You'd think I would think about it all the time. Uh but third baby. Yeah. Maybe we should do where we'll pull everybody and they'll name your baby. Lovely. I'll get some great responses. Yeah. I almost feel like bad when people are like, I'm I'm gonna help you. Like when you're like, I don't have a girl name. They're like, oh, let me help you. And then they start like giving you a bunch of names because you feel bad being like, no. Like they're cute names, but just like no. And then I'm such like a people pleaser. I don't want to be like, you don't want to like hurt their feelings being like, I don't like it. Cause like obviously they like it. So then it's like, yep, that's the one. I'm using it. Thank you. Like, I feel bad. Well, I want to help you name the have the girl name ready, even though I don't think you'll need it.
SPEAKER_00Okay. And I can't, I mean, since I'm gonna be in the delivery room, I'll be able to help with that as well.
SPEAKER_02Since you'll be holding a leg. Can you imagine? No. I don't like I don't like anybody in my delivery room besides my husband, obviously.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, that was my rule. If you weren't there when we made the baby, you don't need to be there when it comes out. No. That's a good rule.
SPEAKER_02Like, first of all, no, I'm shitting. Yeah. Um, peeing, probably. I'm puking. But there's a lot of there's a lot of stuff coming out of a lot of places you don't need to be in there for. Sometimes people have a whole audience though. No, I know. Did you know, like a long time ago, like there would be an entire crowd to watch the queen have a baby? Oh, they would just like come and she'd just be like up on her throne, spread eagle. Yeah. Just like pushing. It was like in a an auditorium kind of. But like a lot of them like died during childbirth back then. So it was just kind of like, oh fuck. But I think it was because they had to make sure that it didn't get switched with another baby. Oh, that it was like the true heir. I think. Why? Would the would someone like steal the baby and like replace it? What is this Rapunzel? What is this? Tangled? I made that. This bad mother gonna steal the baby. I made the reason up. Maybe that's not it. Okay. But like, why else? Can you imagine? You're just in no air conditioning, having this baby with no medication. Yeah. Probably in a gown. Stinky. Stinky. Shittin. Shittin. What do you think the cavemen thought? Like the first time ever. Yeah. They were probably like, what the fuck is happening? Or something very large is coming out of my Gucci right now. I'm not, I'm not constipated. Yeah, it feels like something very large is coming out with the bongo. You do? Yeah. Yeah. I think they were like, oh, beep pee. Oh. No, I think they knew.
SPEAKER_00But I do think about like the first like documentation of twins, and she definitely got like hanged for being a witch.
SPEAKER_02Oh witch. Yeah. Triplets. Oh witch. They burned her at the state. Oh wet. Yeah. And like, did she they didn't have shit like that back then. So the first one came out. They were probably like, yay, the baby's here. Yeah. And then she was like, oh no, something's coming. And they were like, what? And then the next one came out and they were like devil woman. Probably. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. And they looked exactly alike. Yeah. She oh, she was definitely dabbling and sorcery. And then it happened a second time and they were like, which. And then it happened a third time and they were like, all right, wait a minute.
SPEAKER_01Is this a thing? Maybe this is a like, oh damn, we fucked up. Oh my god. Is that a thing? Maybe this is a thing. Yeah, no, for real. That is some sorcery shit. If you have twins, you're witch. Yeah. What's the episode about today? Oh, yeah. We should probably get into that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, it's all about fall, which is the very beginning of the podcast. What I was trying to say, with it's too much. Oh, oh, I see. I see. Mariah Carey was defrosting. Okay. Because it's September, guys. Wow. I'm so happy. I could never live somewhere warm all year round. I just need enough of one season to be like, that was good. I've got my fill of that. Let's move on to the next.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Now, I did see this thing recently where it was like, if you were gonna pick a season to live in forever, what season would you pick? Don't think it in your head and then we'll say on three. Okay. One, two, three, spring. Spring.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god! No! I love spring. Me too. Because I fall would be obviously fall would be nice. Yeah. But I just feel like the weather isn't as good as spring. Spring is like, I don't know, fall is like it gets too cold too fast or it's too hot. There's not, there's only like a little bit of time where it's like a good middle of spring. Spring is so good. Spring is so good the whole time, usually. And the smell in the air and the flowers are blooming, not everything's dying. Think about that. You're picking the season forever. Everything's gonna be always dead and dying.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Wow.
SPEAKER_02You pick spring, everything's coming to line. Yeah. Constantly.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. It's beautiful time. But a close second would be fall. For sure. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. For spring for sure first. So it's fall bucket list. Because nobody wants one extreme or the other. Yeah. Who's I mean, some people do, but I'm telling you right now, I'm not saying I want to go pick Arizona to live and I don't want to go pick Antarctica to live. No. You need a happy medium. But we're lucky because we do get the changing of the season. Yeah, that's the best part about the Midwest. Yeah. Yeah. Anyways, we're talking about fall bucket lists. So we can get our bucket list going. Yeah. For the season. Now mine's very limited. My window is very short. Yeah. Because I'm 29 weeks. So basically I'm delivering tomorrow. Yeah. So there's not a lot of time left. I'm still in my nesting phase where I like want to keep doing a bunch of shit and getting like home projects done. And I know the window is closing so soon to where I'm just gonna have no energy anymore for like the whole rest of the pregnancy. So I'm trying to like rush to get things done. And that's including all this ball shit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And the baby comes in November. So it's like I really have like September and October to get her done. Yeah. And September is still kind of summery too. So it's like, really, I have October. Yeah. Honestly. But that's what we all have. No, you have November. Oh, okay. Sorry. You're right. Um, yeah. So I asked you guys what you plan to do for your fall bucket list. And we're gonna talk about some of our things that we're gonna do. Obviously, everyone's going on a pumpkin patch. Obviously, you're going on a hayride. So have you said that? Skip. Skip. Yeah. I'm skipping it. Everybody did that. Yeah. Now, are you picking apples? I do pick apples. I'm not picking apples. I do cuss a little. Have you seen that?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Miranda Cosgrove. Who is it? It's Miranda Cosgrove from iCarly. And she was on a podcast and they said, Do you cuss? And she's like, I do cuss a little. And they're like, What's your favorite cuss word? And she's like, probably fuck. I do pick apples. I do not. Okay, we didn't start until we the we switched apple. You know, everyone goes kind of to the same pumpkin patch every day. Yeah. We switched our pumpkin patch up a couple years ago. And this one has an apple orchard. And I love picking apples. Why do you love it? It's just fun. I like, I like we have gone to pick strawberries and raspberries and blueberries with the kids before. And I just think that's so fun. One, it's fresh. I love the vibe. We all they want you to think when really you're free labor. You're paying. And you get to pick which ones you want. You're paying them and you're doing the work. Well, I like it.
SPEAKER_00It's brilliant on their part of it. It really is.
SPEAKER_02So is going to pick out your pumpkin. You could just grab one from Walmart and be done with you. Baby, you think I'm paying for those pumpkin patch pumpkins? Oh, it's the fun of it. Going out there. No. We go, we have fun, yay, yay.
SPEAKER_00And then we do the activities. And then we get the $5 pumpkin from Walmart. Oh, what? Girl, one time I rolled out of there with $100 worth of pumpkins because we were too far in. We had waited in the line. Yeah, and you were like, I have to do it now. Yeah. No, I'm not paying for the pumpkin patch pumpkin.
SPEAKER_02I'm cheap too, but I just feel like there's some nostalgia in it for me. I have to do it. And Costco has way better carving pumpkins. They're huge, uniform. Yes. For Costco. Yes. No. And sometimes my kids will like pick out a pumpkin that sucks ass, but you can't tell them that. They're so excited about it.
SPEAKER_00Right. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And it's like green. Half the pumpkin's green and flat. Yeah. You're like, I love it. Yeah. I'm going to pay $25 for that. Yeah. There, because it's the heaviest pumpkin. It's also the ugliest. Plus, if you go pick it, then you gotta carry that shit back in. I can do. It's brilliant. Well, you know, it's the nostalgia. It's on my bucket list. It doesn't have to be on yours. I'm still going. We do everything. We pick the pumpkins. Yeah. We do the apples. I think last time or one of the times, we might have just grabbed like a bag of already picked apples because we didn't want to like carry it all. I think that maybe when Mila was a baby and I was like, I'm out of hands. But for the most part, we like to pick. Now, are you getting cold cider or hot? Cold usually because it's still 90 degrees by the time you go. And I like the slushies, the apple cider slushies. And our pumpkin patch has the apple cider donuts. Yeah. I hate though, I hate when it's hot and I'm trying to wear like a flannel. Yeah. I'm trying to be my cozy fall self and it's 90 degrees. I literally hate. I hate it. Yeah. Like nobody wants to be in shorts. But I love a pumpkin patch. Yeah, and I do do it every year. So it is half the people probably in our comments. But maybe somebody has something. I did do a Halloween party last year for like the first fall, full fall in our house. And it was so fun. I will be continuing that tradition every year, like from here on out. Obviously, not this year because I have shit going on in my womb. But from here on out, I will be doing that. That is so fun. It was totally kid catered. Yes. We played kids' Halloween music. The kids dressed up. I did like little like minute to win it games, I think is what they call them. Yeah. And we did like a spoon race with like a little toy eyeball with like so cute. And yeah, it was so fun. I will be doing that. I'll be concerned about it. It was really fun. And I think what I'm gonna do is since our first year was kind of like a haunted mansion theme, I think I'm gonna do different themes every year. And I already have like the next couple years planned out. Oh my god. So that's kind of fun. And it's fun because I know my kids aren't gonna want to match me forever. We do, if if you're new here, we do matching Halloween costumes. I've done it since Julianne was a baby, and we have our Halloween costumes for this year, and my kids have agreed on them, and we're all gonna match. But I know there's gonna come a year, and it's probably like gonna be next year, where they want to do different things, and that's totally okay. I'm not gonna be psycho about it. But then it still gives like Noe and I a chance to like dress up. Yeah. Because as an adult, you don't, you know, as parents, you don't really have a lot of like opportunity to wear a costume and like dress up. Yeah. Unless you're like freaky. Yeah. So I think it gives us it gives us a fun chance to dress up too. Because that's definitely on my bucket list. And then do you have a like fall movie you watch every year? Did you say? Well, I said you've got mail, but I gotta find it. Yeah, but you know what?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. You know what another one is? What? This is so not like me, but it's Remember the Titans.
SPEAKER_02Football movie.
SPEAKER_00But it's really not about football.
SPEAKER_02Rep to Hayden.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Hayden, I know. Yeah, no, I do love Remember the Titans.
SPEAKER_02It's a good Yeah, I've never seen it. I should put it on my list. Is it fall? E?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Mine Because it's football season. Yeah, duh. Yeah. Duh. Sports. Sports. So unlike you. It's so unlike me. Mine is Halloween Town. I love Disney's Halloween Town movies. And I finally got Julian to watch them last year too. Those, and then I always like re-watch Vampire Darwys or Gilmore Girls.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I swear I try, I like try to re-watch it every fall. This is the vibe.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Or like the first Harry Potter is very Halloween. Yes. I love that too. Another good one is Clue from like the. I've not seen it.
SPEAKER_02Oh, rip to Tim Curry, too. Oh my god. He's in that. Do you decorate your house for fall? Yes. Do you decorate your house for fall or do you decorate it for Halloween? I fear there's a difference. There is.
SPEAKER_00And I have specific Halloween stuff that I but it's not much. It's like two things. Okay. I put them on the mantle, but after Halloween, I take it down.
SPEAKER_02Okay. We do mostly fall. Don't forget my diamond painting. Yes. Are you almost finished? I have a lot done. I'm gonna say I'm like probably 70%. You'll have it done by fall.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yes. Yeah. I'm doing a spooky diamond painting. And I 10 out of 10. It's been so relaxing and chill.
SPEAKER_02And just I watched Emily do it one day. And can't be me. Yeah. I get the worst headache ever. Yeah. It was but it does look so fun. It's so fun. Just so relaxing. Yes.
SPEAKER_00I can't recommend it enough.
SPEAKER_02And it's not really like like we were talking about crocheting, I think, once, or maybe we were talking about that in person. And those kind of hobbies, yeah, they're kind of mindless after a while, but you also like have to be counting and like memori. And if you mess up a stitch because you're not paying attention, now you can like reduct you don't really have that. Like you could be so zoned out with that. It's just so um, what am I trying to say? Mindless. Mindless. Yeah. Yes. Anyways, let's see. Someone said we have a backyard bonfire every year. Fuck. I love um this is so unpopular, but I love the smell of campfire smoke. Why is that unpopular? People don't like it. I love it. I love it when you like just got done at a bonfire and you like go to take your sweatshirt off or whatever in the house and it smells like campfire smoke, or when your hair smells like campfire smoke. People hate that smell. It gives them a headache. I love that smell.
SPEAKER_00Well, I grew up with an RV, so we used to go camping like every weekend. Well, camping in a camper.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. Um, don't come for me. It was really fun, okay? Glamping. Yeah, glamping, yeah. But so I have a really strong like scent memory to a lot of things, and campfire smoke immediately takes me back. Yes. I love it. I love it too. I don't have a lot of bonfires, though. I mean, our kids aren't different, though. Yeah, yeah. They're already in bed by the time you'd want to have a campfire. Well, and also they like are dumb still. And they'll like fall. Not dumb, but they're a little bit. They're naive. Yeah, fire burning them. Yeah. Apple picking, trigger treating, and pumpkin painting. Pumpkin painting. Yes. We have done that before with the kids when they were smaller, and obviously. Because carving, even at their age, is like, okay, we're doing all the work. Yeah. They pull out like two handfuls of the pumpkin seeds and then they're done. Yeah. Now I'm pulling out the pumpkin seeds and I'm carving the dang thing.
SPEAKER_00You know what we have with Nora when she was really little? I bet I still have them somewhere. Are these um you can get them and it's fun for little little kids, but they poke in. They have like dog faces and stuff or cats. Like poke them. Poke them into the pumpkin.
SPEAKER_02Like with what?
SPEAKER_00They're a little plastic and they have a a stick on the end of it. And so it's like different eyeballs, different noses, and then that's mess-free for little ones, and they still like are like, oh look, I made a face on the pumpkin. Wait, where do you get them? I think somebody gave them to us.
SPEAKER_02And you don't have to carve the inside of the pumpkin out. Just poke them in. No paint, no carving. Uh-huh. Takes two minutes. I like that idea. Yeah. We carved last year and we had like a little kit, and it's still just like a miserable time. It's a lot of work. I mean, honestly, I would rather just paint. Yeah. That's probably what we'll do this year.
SPEAKER_00At the end of the day, it's a vegetable, and we are doing the absolute.
SPEAKER_02We really do make that pumpkin work hard. That is a really strange concept to explain to somebody who didn't grow up in America. Yes. And then we pick this giant vegetable and some people might eat it, but not us. We scrape out all of its insides, we put a face on it, and then stick a candle in it. What the fuck? And then put it on the front board for weird. That is really weird. Yeah, but you could say that about a lot of things too. Like every year at Christmas time, yeah, we take a tree from outdoors, we put it inside. We've got to water it or it'll catch the house on fire. And then we put charms on it and some lights. Yeah. And then we sing beside it. And then once a year, a big fat man comes down our chimney. Comes down our chimney. Again, fire risk. And gives us presents underneath this big outdoor bush. That reminds me of- You could say that was so many things.
SPEAKER_00I I saw a thing the other day that said, you know, the way they really pushed stop, drop and roll, I thought it was more of a win and not an if thing. Like they really were like. Yeah. Win you catch on fire later in life, or maybe today, second grade class. If you're lucky, might be today. I was ready. Yeah. I mean, we stayed ready so we didn't have to get ready to light on fire. Yes. We were like, stop drop and roll, goddess.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. But one thing we would do every year in elementary school, did you guys have this? Where like the fire, I don't know if it was firefighters would come. I think it was firefighters or maybe it was a company. And they'd have like that mock house and they'd walk you through it and show you all the fire hazards. No. This is probably where my anxiety began. Yeah. But they would walk us through this house, this like little trailer, but it was like a mock house on the inside. And you'd stop in like the living room, and they would be like, What do you notice is a fire hazard here? Oh, the you know, something's plugged in right here, and you left it plugged in and it could like burn up. Oh my god. And then you'd walk into the kitchen and they'd be like, and what here could cause like a fire or a burn or whatever. And one of the things they said in the kitchen was turning your stove handles away, like not leaving your stove handles facing you on the stove, like keeping them turned the pan handles. The pan handles that's what I meant. Keeping the pan handles turned inward and not like flipped outside because someone could come and like flip the pan and then it pours like hot stuff all over you and can cause a burden. Stop driving roll. And yes, and no, I literally was like, I still to this day, if I'm like at somebody's house, I'm I will go up and like turn their pan handle sideways because it's ingrained in my memory. I was like, we need to move this. Yeah. I think about it all the time, and nobody remembers this little like trailer. It's like a fever dream. It's like I dreamt a firefighter was like, This is how you'll survive, Ellie. But was he wearing a shirt? Yes.
SPEAKER_00I was like, this doesn't sound like a bad dream.
SPEAKER_02No, but you didn't have that?
SPEAKER_00No.
SPEAKER_02Oh, okay.
SPEAKER_00No, but I knew to stop drop and roll.
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_00There was one other thing.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, I'm gonna put my seven-month-old in a pumpkin. Oh, yeah. I never got to do that because baby's gonna be past pumpkin time. Actually, I could have done it because I had spring babies. I just did it. I don't know why. It's so cute. Yeah, because again, you gotta carve the shit. Yeah. Take it out, pull it all out. Yeah. I'm nervous for my monthly picture. Did you take monthly pictures of your kids? Oh my gosh. I'm gonna forget. Third baby. I'm gonna be like, gosh, dang. And it's so easy at the beginning. They three months old.
SPEAKER_00And then by nine months old, you're like, oh fuck. It's today. Like in the back of the live photo, you hear all the noises. Oh my. I love them. No, they're so cute, but there's so much work at the end.
SPEAKER_02I can't put my baby in a pumpkin, but my sister-in-law put her baby, who was born like the week before Thanksgiving, on a pan in a turkey outfit, and she put vegetables insane.
SPEAKER_00All around the pan. I bet at the time I was like, this is so cute. But now describing it, you're like, are you roasting the new race?
unknownThat was crazy.
SPEAKER_02I think she did, or maybe I'm making that up. Oh wow, another dream.
SPEAKER_00Maybe the firefighter pulled it out in the mug house. Pretty sure. Here's another fire hazard of babies on a roasting pan. It's all the same dream. It's true. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02No, I don't mean it. I also made Mila. I did that little Starbucks snow cookie picture when she has a baby where you like bite the head. I love it and then make your baby snowmaking. That was so cute. Yeah. Babies are so fun to like dress up and just like prop in different kinds of like photo shoots. They don't do that when they're three and up. Yeah, no. No, I'm it's miserable now. I can't even get a good picture to save my life. Yeah. It won't put and then they do their fake smiles when you ask them to smile. So it's like oh, this is stupid. Well, that was fun. Little kickoff. Yeah, kickoff to fall. Cheers. Next week we'll talk more fall related things, probably. And then more fall. And then even more fall. And then a little bit of baby and thanks to you. Sprinkle some in. And then bye. Yep, that's it. And then it's New Year's. Yep. Okay. Bye. Have a great oh, it's Labor Day weekend. Have a great Labor Day weekend. Cook your last hot dogs. Yeah. Watch your last fireworks. Swim your last swims. Wow. It's all downhill from here. No. Yes. Happy Labor Day. See you in a minute.
