Monday Fire-Up: Leave the Room Better
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Success isn't measured only by what you accomplish.
It's also measured by the impact you leave behind.
In this week's Monday Fire-Up on F Is for Effort, we're looking beyond goals and to-do lists to explore a different kind of success—becoming the person who leaves every room, every conversation, and every opportunity just a little better than they found it.
This episode introduces the One Percent Better Challenge: a simple daily commitment to improve one situation, encourage one person, or solve one problem that makes a positive difference.
Because real leadership isn't about having a title.
It's about how you show up.
How you treat people.
And the example you set when no one is keeping score.
This week, don't just chase results.
Create impact.
Leave people encouraged.
Leave situations improved.
Leave your mark.
Press play.
Leave the room better.
Lead through effort.
F is for Effort. 🔥💪
Hello and welcome to your Monday fireup. So let's get started. It's a new Monday. Another brand new week is here. And today I want to challenge you with a different way of thinking about success. Most of us begin the week asking questions like, What do I need to accomplish? What goals do I need to hit? What problems do I need to solve? Now, those are important questions, don't get me wrong, but here's another one. What if every room you walked into this week was better because you were there? Now think about it. Not because you had all the answers, or because you were the smartest person in the room, and not because you were the loudest, but because your presence made a difference. Your attitude lifted people, your effort inspired someone, because your integrity earned trust. Your patience helped settle chaos. Now that's influence. And here's the amazing thing about influence: it doesn't require permission. You don't need a title or a promotion. You don't need thousands of followers. You simply decide the kind of person you're going to be. Every conversation, meeting, or challenge becomes an opportunity, not just to perform, but to contribute. Imagine how different your week would feel if your goal wasn't simply to get through it. Imagine if your goal was to leave every place just a little better than you found it. Sometimes that's through encouragement, through reliability, or just through listening. And sometimes it's through doing excellent work that others can count on. Whatever it is, your effort leaves fingerprints and evidence. Long after you've walked away, people remember how you made them feel. They remember whether you showed up and kept your word, whether you made things harder or better. That's a powerful responsibility. And it's one you get to accept every single day this week. Because your influence isn't built in one grand moment, it's built in hundreds of ordinary moments. The way you respond, the way you encourage, and the way you lead yourself. That's what people remember. That's what builds character and legacy. And as always, it wouldn't be a Monday fire up if I didn't give you a new challenge for the week. Okay, time for your new challenge. And I call this one 1% better. Are you ready? Okay, here's your challenge for the week. Every day, your challenge is to intentionally leave one place better than you found it. Now, maybe it's your office, maybe it's your home, or maybe it's a conversation, a project, or even someone's mood. Ask yourself one simple question. What's one thing I can do right now that leaves this situation just 1% better? Perhaps it could be cleaning something, helping someone, solving a problem nobody asked you to solve. Small improvements made consistently. Now that's how extraordinary weeks are built. Okay, so what are the takeaways from all this? Well, let me leave you with this. At the end of this week, people probably won't remember every task you completed. They won't remember every email you sent, and they won't remember every item you checked off your list. But they will remember your presence. They'll remember your attitude, and they'll remember whether you brought energy or drained it, whether you created solutions or added to the problems, and whether you left things better than you found them. So this week, don't just chase achievement, create impact. Don't just count accomplishments, count the people you positively influenced. Because success isn't only measured by what you build, it's also measured by what you leave behind. And as always, if you stumble, make mistakes along the way on anything you tackle, don't stress out about it. Just breathe and try again. Because it's just failed effort. Life lived. New week, new opportunities, 1% better. One room at a time. Now go leave your mark and leave every room a little better than you found it. Thank you for joining me today. And please make sure to follow this podcast. Have a great Monday and a great week ahead. I'm Jack Hayden. Until next time.
