34. Ooh la la Carla

Carla Bruni is an Italian singer song writer and was a First Lady of France. She was born in 1967 into a wealthy industrial family. Her Father was a classical composer and opera director, and her mother was a concert pianist – wow what a start in life. The family moved to France , when she was five, to avoid a possible kidnap by The Red Brigade terrorists She studied art and architecture at College. She was one of the worlds top paid cat walk models, working for the big fashion houses like Channel and Versace. She was known as ‘The Body’. She wrote and recorded a debut folk-pop album in 2022, selling 2m copies. She recorded 4 more albums. She was known for her high-profile relationships with Mick jagger, Eric Clapton, before marrying President Nicolas Sarkozy in 2008.She continued her musical career, whilst fulfilling her duties. She has a son from her first marriage and a daughter with Sarkozy. She is also engaged in children's charities and research into the HIV virus. She is best known for her ‘effortless elegance’ and‘ understated sophistication’. She has also maintained an aura of mystery. She is thought by some to be a ‘man eater’. She once said ,’Monogamy bores me terribly. I am a tamer of men but I need to feel free’ i.e. a predator that’s calculating and unfaithful. Her mother referred to her as a nymphomaniac. She was in a relationship with Raphael Enthoven ( her first husband) whilst he was seeing someone else, She is accused of political interference to benefit her friends and family and a knows  a ‘behind the scenes operator’.  Someone who has carefully crafter new personas .Sarkozy was labeled the ‘The President of the Rich’ and Carla his queen. Also known as the  ‘the bling-bling monarchs. She was accused of witness manipulation in one court case. Sarkozy was convicted of illegally accepting E5m in campaign funds from Gaddafi. Bruni was alleged to have provided a misleading personal alibi for her husband. Nicolas got a 5-year jail term. Crikey !

I think Carla Bruni is one of the most gorgeous women on the planet – there I’ve said it. She can do no wrong in my eyes. The challenge is to produce a song that doesn't sound silly ! My song Ooh la la Carla starts with her description, ‘An effortless beauty, a timeless allure. Withthe grace of a French style girl. Over fifty, staying young is a strain. Endless hours keeping thin, 

she sometimes feints’ and ‘Two hours of sport every single day. Not too old for, walking the runway’s - she sounds a bit like me with my interest in sports on a daily basis. The song then talks about her background before revealing further details of this complex woman, ‘Heiress to a fortune, a society legend. Nude photo sold for a hundred thousand. Five albums now been released. So, her gifts to charity increased  Plays her music late at night. She can’t tour, security and stage freight’ – wow who would have guessed . Then the song tells us more about her position as the First Lady of France ( which can't be an easy role to play ), ‘Learnt not to make a fuss. Stood by him, as a one plus. Respected his Presidential position. Managed not to say the wrong thing. Accused of Illegal campaign financing. Carla now attending court  hearings’ The songs chorus is really a celebration of her life, warts and all. Shout it out loud !
