Sam Yates: This is your Kidney King, Sam Yates. Welcome to the very first edition of the Kidney Kings Podcast — our official teaser — and I’ve got tons of things to talk about with you. Let’s start with who you are. You’re probably a kidney patient, or you may know someone who is a kidney patient. You may know someone who has had a transplant. You may be waiting for a transplant yourself. Or perhaps you work in the dialysis field, are in end-stage renal disease, or you’re involved in one of the many kidney-related organizations across the United States. If that’s you — or if you know someone — you’re in the right place. We’ll be talking not only about dialysis and kidney failure, but about transplants as well. Dialysis plants — as the kidney industry jokingly calls them — exist across the country. Most are owned by major companies, but there are also smaller independent clinics. We’ll talk about: what it’s like being on dialysis, what it’s like being off dialysis, and how end-stage renal disease affects people’s lives. We’re also going to discuss how patients deserve the best treatment, no matter who they are or where they live. Other topics include: kidney research advancements in dialysis machines breakthroughs in pharmaceuticals the global kidney community stories from transplant centers and the many state and national foundations that support kidney patients If you’re like a lot of families out there, you’re juggling dialysis schedules, transplant requirements, lifestyle changes, and real questions about what’s next. That’s why this podcast exists — to help you navigate those challenges with knowledge, support, and hope. We’ll be talking with physicians from around the country. Medical professionals from hospital groups such as the Cleveland Clinic, Johns Hopkins, and other leading organizations will join us. Fresenius, DaVita, and other dialysis providers will be represented as well — not necessarily in an organized way as corporations, but through the voices of medical professionals inside these systems. We’ll also feature specialists in nephrology, transplant teams, researchers, and innovators from some of the top kidney treatment centers and medical schools nationwide. We’ll give you updates from many organizations — national, statewide, and even local groups — dedicated to kidney health and awareness. We’ll share stories from foundations that support transplant patients and give a voice to families living through the journey of kidney disease. Most importantly, this podcast gives a voice to you. You are one of the most important people in the kidney world — patients, caregivers, donors, families, and friends. You each have a story to share. You each have knowledge others need. And many of you have ideas that can make life easier for kidney patients — maybe even save lives. That’s why we call this podcast Kidney Kings. Because here, knowledge is power, and we’re building a kingdom of shared experience and shared strength. We’ll also talk about the 50-statewide network, and how kidney care varies across regions. Our goal is to bring together voices from all over the country — and eventually the world — as kidney science evolves. We’re going to cover the latest clinical research, new medications, changes in Medicare and insurance, and even the politics affecting kidney treatment standards in the U.S. So if you have information, if you have tips, if you have a story, I want to hear from you. You can email me directly at Sam@YatesPRO.com or text me at 772-528-5185 with your name, contact information, and a brief message. You can also become a sponsor of the Kidney Kings Podcast, the Kidney Kings Newsletter, the blog, or eventually the Kidney Kings website — which is under development. Check back for updates.
