Josh & Nick are reporting live from the World's Oldest Air show, the ILA Berlin. We talk about the planes on display but also about Air Montenegro, an airline Josh recently exposed. Even the President got involved!
Hello and welcome to the Josh Kahill and Swiss01 show.
SPEAKER_00And look at our studio. Yeah, something is odd here. We're oddly professional. Like this is a proper studio. Why is that, Josh?
SPEAKER_01Because we are at the oldest air show in the world, the ILA Berlin. 2026. What does ILA stand for? International something.
SPEAKER_00I thought it was a disease first.
SPEAKER_01No, no, that's I A L S. Oh, yeah, something else. That is that is definitely something else. How have you been? It's been a while. We're doing great. We have passing.
SPEAKER_00We, by the way, also we have got two guests right here. Yes, that is Sam, and this is Chui. And they are here. Already up to a good start.
SPEAKER_01There you go. Like uh we're not holding back to this podcast, have we ever? No. And uh yeah, we are in this little box. Uh right next to us is an Airbus A380 of Emirates.
SPEAKER_00And an A3501000 test lab thing with all the you know the test lab equipment.
SPEAKER_01Indeed, and a lot of Eurofighters, tornadoes, uh A400, G8 Poseidon, and uh the whole smash.
SPEAKER_00And A330, the fueling tanker, which is really cool. That is true. We haven't actually seen that yet. We have to take a look at that for sure.
SPEAKER_01It's all the way at the end, yeah. It's a long walk, and my knees are already hurting. Um this is the downsides when you when you are at an airport. Airshow classic, right? You do walk a lot. I done a lot of steps today, but we want to talk about the air show, obviously, since we are here. And we also wanted to talk about what we've been up to. I think you did a bit of traveling, didn't you? No, you did not, right? I didn't. You went to university at least. You traveled to university. I traveled in the car, yeah. You traveled in the car. Right. And uh uh Air Montenegro.
SPEAKER_00There's some big things to talk about that. But let's uh go ahead and start a little bit with the air show. I mean, it's only the second day we've been. It's Thursday now, and the air show always from Wednesday to Sunday. So it's only halfway through, and not all the planes that are gonna be there are here already. I mean, the Beluga, Airbus Beluga XL, I think. You know, the A330 conversion is coming tomorrow. Huge cargo transport plane. Do you think it's a bit ugly?
SPEAKER_01Uh I have mixed feelings for the beluga. I've seen it a couple of times when I was in Toulouse at Airbus, and it's it's just big. Big and out of shape. That's what that's uh that's what women usually say when they see you naked. But uh no, it's a beautiful plane, and it's uh very capable, I heard as well.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, of course.
SPEAKER_01What is your story with the beluga? How many times did you try to land a beluga in Lukla?
SPEAKER_00I've done a lot of things with the beluga. With the old beluga, I tried one thing, and that is fit a thousand passenger seat in it.
SPEAKER_01Oh, right.
SPEAKER_00And that was fun and it worked. Yeah. Um, that was a great story. I did a lot of like weird stuff with the beluga. I mean, it fit so many things, and I've never.
SPEAKER_01How many seats can you fit in a beluga? A thousand. A thousand seats. You know, if you have an all-economy um Airbus A380, it's 893. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, the beluga could fit more, but the problem is could it really carry more by weight? So like the weight is a big problem. So it couldn't really take off. So for those that don't know, what is the beluga? Beluga is uh both in the ocean, but that that's where the original beluga is a whale.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. But what it does a plane does?
SPEAKER_00So I mean they have first of all, I mean, there's two types of beluga. There was the old beluga, and now there's the beluga XL.
SPEAKER_01And so based on the Airbus A300. Right.
SPEAKER_00The old ones, yeah. Yeah. The new the new one is on the A330, the old one is on the A300, and basically what they did is they blew up the fuselage to make it huge. And it kind of looks like a whale because it's so huge, like the skin.
SPEAKER_01Even the livery has an eye. Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, they're being kind of ironic about it. And so, yeah, why they have it? I mean, it's the same thing that Boeing has the Dreamlifter, or they used to have the Super Guppy, right? I mean, to carry around huge aircraft uh parts between like the Airbus uh centers. Like, for example, we have Airbus in Toulouse, but there's also Airbus in in Hamburg, there's Airbus in Bremen, there's tons of Airbus locations, just like Boeing has tons of locations as well, and they need to inter-transfer plane parts a lot of the time, so they need a huge airplane to carry those parts, and that's what they do with the beluga. And yeah, it's coming tomorrow, and I have never seen one in real life, and it's gonna be a little bit ugly. But just like the dreamlifter is ugly.
SPEAKER_01You haven't seen one yet.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I've only seen the dream lifter in real life. I have not seen the dream lifter, which is funny because the dream lifter opens sideways, you know that like genuinely the cockpit is right here and it opens up and looks to the side. No, hold on. That might have been no that yeah, no, that no hold on the the tail lifts to the side on the super guppy. Do you know the super guppy, which is another I do know the super guppy. The propeller propeller one. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That one has the cockpit that opens to the side. Yeah, which is really funny.
SPEAKER_01It's a beautiful looking plane though. And if you guys hear engine roars in the background, I think it's a Eurofighter is just uh showing off its skills. Yeah. Um earlier we watched a tornado.
SPEAKER_00And we watched uh some usual traffic. This is the funny thing, because this is, by the way, at the Berlin Airport, at the Berlin Airport, and there's like Eurofighters flying around forever to finish. Yeah, and 20 minutes after the Eurofighter, it's just an easy jet to Majorca. Do you know what I mean? It's like so funny. Like you have very interesting, versatile traffic. I've never seen that kind of stuff before. It is. I mean it is. When I was in Par when we were, I mean, we both of us we were in Paris last year, the Paris Air Show. It happens at the Le Bourget Airport, which is not the commercial one, it's not at Chal de Gaulle for sure. Um, what about like you've been to Dubai, which is also not at the main Dubai airport, is it? It's at Al Maktoum. Right.
SPEAKER_01It is the uh uh primarily used for cargo in the beginning, and then um eventually it is supposed to be the new big main airport that's the plan, eventually move all the operation to Al Maktoum. But um, having been to Le Borges and uh Al Maktoum, uh why have I a French accent now? I don't know. Um sorry uh comparing all these um I found Le Bourgers was really business-minded. Yeah, you know, a lot of CEOs, a lot of big deals announced. Um the place where because they alternate, right, every two years. So last year had Le Bourgers, uh yeah, and uh Dubai and then Faunbor, then you have Berlin every second year, and then the airlines think okay, if we make big deals, we need to announce them somewhere somewhere. And when we were in Paris, Riyadh Air was predominantly there, um uh Qatar was there, right? We did uh great live stream, and Dubai is more about just it's just big, it's just Dubai, it is just massive. Uh 777X was there, uh 380, 350, um 747s, triple sevens, uh all military jets, A10, um C 17s, the whole thing, and uh it's incredible. It's in terms of size, it's just like the biggest I've ever seen. Yeah, probably and um I feel like Berlin it's not very business, it's more like people coming together, uh exchanging, like oh I haven't seen you in a while. Like it's it's a more of a family event.
SPEAKER_00Would you agree? I've you know, in in German there's this interesting thing, which you hopefully know. I mean, there's two ways to address you, right? I mean in English there's only you, yeah, and in German there is formal and the formal you. Like in French, there is vo and to, right? Yeah. Um, so and and formal is what we mostly see, but here I've only been done do. Do you know what I mean? Yeah, yeah. Like people do you. Yeah, even if the military guy is kind of yeah, even the military guy that do they they say do do instead of like the vow? It's hard to explain it in English. It is when you go. Do you know what I mean? I think it's a good example of what this is. It's it's quite it's it's very it's kind of casual, it's kind of personal, but of course it's professional. But look, I mean, no airline will buy an airplane here. That's kind of the thing. No, probably not.
SPEAKER_01There's no big announcement. But it's even though the Chancellor, the German head of state, was here yesterday. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, but what it's mostly is about is there's I mean, most of it is military. The Bundeswehr is really showing off what it's got's going on. It's got it was really impressive. We just did it at an Airbus A400 M tour, uh, which was really cool. You know, the large uh transport airplane, the most powerful turboprop engines in the world, and it's funny because it resembles so much an Airbus A380 in the cockpit, especially. It's the same thing. Airbus pilots from the A380 could immediately transfer to the A400.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we had a really cool guy called Max, he was the pilot, and funny thing, he served in the same battalion that I did 20 years ago. So we turned from F-Geeks to comrades. Comrades, yeah, nice, yeah. And uh the same unit. We served in the same unit, and uh then he switched over to the Air Force, and uh yeah, I mean the let's start with the loose on the on the on the 400. You have those piss wars. That's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_00The the A400M obviously has the cockpit that is on another level than the cargo deck, and there's like lavatories below that, like normal airline lavatory. And then when you go to the back to the actual tail of the aircraft to where the cargo door ramp is, when that closes, there's a literal pissoir you can piss into with a window. You can see at with piss with a view.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, a loop of a view, that's what we call it, in uh in our reviewer um little universe. And I would love to like I know it's gonna happen one day. I'm gonna fly to 400. Uh and I wanna have I wanna I wanna I want to we into that piss war just because it's amazing. You have to have goals in life. But the problem is like this it's two pissoirs. Yeah, we can have a we can have a pee next to each other.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but like the problem is like normally with pisswas you always have three, so when you pee together, you have there's one there's one in the middle of that. You think it's awkward? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_01And then the guy just goes next to you. Yeah, yeah. And always have to be a good one. And then he has a peek, he's peeking, he's like, ah, hello. Has it happened to you?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, the cleaning lady is always but like no no no, like genuinely, like so there's only two, which doesn't work. So when there's two pissoires, there's really only one.
SPEAKER_01But I don't think they're ever in use at the same time. Yeah. Even to comrades to be like, no, that's gay. Oh great. Yeah. And I was surprised how spacious the flight deck is. The flight I mean, it's it's a huge. How many people fit in there? We were seven or something. Yeah, it was one of the most spacious flight pits ever.
SPEAKER_00Everyone had a everyone had a place to sit. Like, remember the 737 flight simulator we were in? Like how small and cramped that cockpit was? Yeah. In comparison to small. It was a huge cockpit. So that was really cool to see like the little differences. It's kind of like an Airbus A380, but it has flares. Yeah. You know? So that was that was pretty interesting. It also has like an angle when it flies, right? In cruising altitude. Yeah, it flies at a bit of a pitch angle, which is a bit of a problem because like when you sit in that plane, when you're a passenger, you sit sideways. You know, you're kind of uh like diagonal to the flight. Yeah. And so that means or or orthhengry to the flight. And so that means you will always lean to the side because the airplane leads up. Do you know what I mean? So like that, it can be a little bit.
SPEAKER_01And it was an interesting story. He said because the wingspan was supposed to be two meters more, longer or longer because the fringe they already built the hangers for the plane before this it was delivered, he said. And the French said no, it's not gonna fit. So you need to somewhere you need to reduce it by two meters of wingspan. Maybe triple seven exit and just like have a wingspan. Yeah, that could have been a good idea, but it literally just chopped it off.
SPEAKER_00It kind of reminds me of how the fringe messed up the A380 a lot. You remember that? You know, remember that story where they had uh this there's a famous video clip where they assembled the final prototype of the A380, and they were like, uh oh, this cable is like 10 centimeters short. And they were like, okay, why are these cables short now? Something is odd. Like when they were assembling the tail, I think. And they noticed, oh god, in the CAD designing software where they designed the aircraft, they used different scales to set up the so the scaling was all wrong on the final prototype, and so they had to redo it all over again, and that took two years. Wow, never heard that story, but yeah, really.
SPEAKER_01It could have saved the 380 because if it would have been on the market a lot earlier, it would have had a lot of customers, probably, but then they changed the whole um hop model, and like airlines decided rather to go from hop from A to B instead of flying uh people into a hub. But yeah, the 380, it's just right here.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we're gonna alright, yeah. This is the new next thing that's coming up. Tomorrow there's the famous influencer day. I mean, right now we've not really been able to see inside of the planes much because like access is very restricted, and you know, I kind of understand that, especially for like the test flying thing or like most of the military things. But uh tomorrow we have an influencer day. We're gonna take a look at the A3 A380 from the inside from Emirates, which I mean you've done like 10 videos on the Emirates A380, I imagine. Yeah, yeah, in every class. You've done all classes.
SPEAKER_01I've done the first class. I had to shower on a plane on the 380. Amazing experience. Um, I did the business class, I did the premium economy, and I did the economy class very, very often. So I done a lot of videos. But Emirate stuff is always very popular.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, look, we we have to kind of find what is now. I mean, since you've covered all of the A380, how about we take a look at the crew bunk beds and stuff?
SPEAKER_01Seeing them as well, but I don't know whether they're gonna let us in there, but um they are um what else is the point?
SPEAKER_00Say again what else is the point of like seeing the A380?
SPEAKER_01Do you know there's a there's they have a a lift in the uh in the Right.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's the kind of stuff I want to see too.
SPEAKER_01You can actually go inside the lift and uh you're not supposed to, it's for the carts, you know, the uh the beverage carts, and uh but there are apparently videos or photos of crew using the elevator for fun because they were done with the service and I was like, why not be funny? But apparently uh if they find out they will terminate you.
SPEAKER_00But no, let's not do that. Let's not do that. Um and yeah, tomorrow, once again, the beluga is arriving. That's one of the things. The Airbus A310 by Zero G, you will know a little bit more about that plane uh than I do, will also arrive tomorrow, which I think is interesting. What is Zero G all about? So it's a plane that simulates what do you say?
SPEAKER_01Uh zero G. Zero G, yeah. Which is tragic, which is the non-gravity. It literally removes the gravity from the atmosphere, if that's a thing to say. So what it does is um probably a lot of people watched Apollo 13, um, where they have scenes. The movie scenes, yeah, yeah, yeah. And they were filmed on those zero gravity um planes. So what you do is you go into a nosedive and then you float in the air. And uh so the Airbus, there's there's an American company who does it. Uh and I think they're called Air Zero, and then there is G Zero, and they're uh based in Bordeaux.
SPEAKER_00Bordeaux Bordeaux? Oh nice Bordeaux, right?
SPEAKER_01So they they they come here um tomorrow as well. Personally, those who um follow me for a long time know that the Airbus A310 is my favorite plane in the world.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's so nice. We can take a look at it today.
SPEAKER_01It is the smallest white body ever built. Uh it just looks cute and chubby, and it just It's kind of like me. It's like you yeah, yeah. Mine is too cute, but it is just an it's just an incredible plane, and I I just love it because it's so rare. Yeah, and I've chased it a couple of times. So I've been on Mahan Airs Airbus A310. I've been on Ariana Afghan, the national airline of Afghanistan to fly that was the singer. And uh yeah, this is uh uh people will hear that if you were if you played the teddy bear.
SPEAKER_00Yeah so yeah, but uh it's called I would have called I wouldn't have called a zero G. I would have called it like G Spot. I think it was a lot of it. G Spot.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that is uh if you want to promote your only fans on here, then uh you should not.
SPEAKER_00I think our our level of officer. This is a comedy. It's a comedy channel. It's not aviation, it's not aviation. So yeah, that's coming. I don't know what else is coming. Uh yes, next next question.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but like we are very happy to be here. I'm sure.
SPEAKER_00So what's next for you then after the uh Hold on, we haven't even stopped talking. I mean, what are the look, what are the what is the accommodation like? The accommodation because we share a house with with the guys who do like my old flight instructor. You might s know them maybe if you watched a lot of videos. Shout out to Airman. We would have had one here. Yeah, we should have had the bottles here. Yeah, yeah. He used to be my flight instructor, and now he does gin, and it's really good gin. And uh he he he called us up and he was like, Hey, do you want to share like a house? Because like during, of course, like all the like expo stuff, always like conventions, the hotel rises, they always rise. It's like hey, let's share a house, and it's like nine people in the house.
SPEAKER_01Nine people. How many bathrooms? I mean, we have eleven beds. One bathroom. We have eleven beds and one bathroom and one toilet. One toilet. It is just um luckily I'm an I'm an early bird, but somebody woke up at 5 a.m. to have a poo. We have an early morning pooper in the house. I don't know who it is, but uh yeah.
SPEAKER_00It's kinda it's a bit yeah, but it's a bit of a survival challenge. It gives a bit of a festival vibe to it all.
SPEAKER_01You know, but that's a problem with those with those um conventions and stuff, like hotel prices are through the roof and uh it's a little annoying. But um, besides this, um you know, I was traveling.
SPEAKER_00Alright, yeah, let's get back, let's get back to your traveling now. Yeah, I was traveling. You were quite you were on the road for quite a while.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like ten days. Okay, people can hear it when you I don't know why you humped this little teddy bear, but people can hear it. Yeah. So uh yeah, I was I was on the road. I was uh I was it was good fun. So I did fly to road, you were kind of in the air.
SPEAKER_00I was in the air, yeah.
SPEAKER_01I was hitting can I say I was hitting the air? Nah, that's probably yeah, you can technically, but now I was traveling, I flew Air Montenegro, I for uh flew Air Alger, the new the new Neo, I flew Bajaya Air, which have the first ever airline to have an all-business class ATR. 24 seats.
SPEAKER_00That's kind of weird.
SPEAKER_01It's kind of weird, it was very funny. I had I was the only passenger.
SPEAKER_00Is it like life flat?
SPEAKER_01No, they're like recliner seats, but it looks very fancy, and it's the only the first one. I I'm not a big fan of ATRs, and I hope nobody from ATRs listen. If you're listening, ADR, I'm sorry. I just don't like it.
SPEAKER_00ATR is a very hated plane among pilots as well. I I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Like, I mean they're fantastic people at ATR. I'm sure they're great. But I just don't like uh you have preferences, and I feel like if I'm supposed if I'm not supposed to say that, in what kind of world do we live?
SPEAKER_00Hold on, hold on. So so why are you being like defensive about yeah? That's the first time I hear you be defensive about anything. You know anyone at ATR?
SPEAKER_01Are you being paid by ATR? No, I'm not being paid by ATR, I'm not being paid by anyone, but like sometimes it hurts to say something that's maybe not nice, but like we live in a world where you don't say that you it's like me not saying, Oh, I I don't like Boeing. And then everyone at Boeing is gonna be upset at me. So I love the APR. The fight was amazing.
SPEAKER_00But maybe the people at Boeing don't like Boeing either. That can often happen. If I talk to a Lufthansa pilot and say, Yeah, that was not good and this doesn't work, he's like, Yeah.
SPEAKER_01When I was at when I was at Dubai Air Show, yeah, uh Boeing didn't invite two people to go and interview CNN and me. So CNN, yeah, it was at a parking, and uh, so I went to Dubai Air Show, got out at my car because they gave me a rental car, and then next to me, uh like two people pulled up as well, and they got like heavy camera out of there. And then the white one guy said, Oh, Josh, I'll watch your videos, huge fan. And he was like, Yeah, we were trying to get an interview with Boeing, but they said because we wanted to ask critical questions, and I was like, Yeah, same to me. They invited everybody else but me, because they know my channel that I'm very unfiltered, and but I wouldn't have asked them some difficult questions because I just wanted to see that 777 X, yeah, really, and they said yeah, CNN was gonna make a huge story on the city. Oh, and then you're not like an MCAS expert. No, no, I was just gonna have gone in there and like adore the plane, yeah. And um interestingly, they started me following the same day on Instagram Boeing, and I was like, why don't you invite me? Oh wow, but ATR was amazing. That bad Jaya all business class ATR. Was kind of cool flying, really, really cool. That is what I don't like weird thing is that you bought through the rear ATR as well. Like and um yeah, but it was it was amazing. It was good great video. ATR, that was good fun. Um glad to be uh covering that. And yeah, I um flew Air Montenegro and you probably have seen the news. I made headlines in Montenegro. I haven't seen it, but you'd have to tell me. I I even reached the president.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01The president reacted. So what was the big deal? Did you like so Air Montenegro has been a terrible airline? They went bankrupt before they were re uh they were doing massive loss operational. Uh went bankrupt, came back, and they're just as bad as again. So I went there, I booked one economy class lek and one leg in business class. And they have three planes, Embreas 195, all identical, all identical configuration. Uh I rocked up at the airport, wanted to check in for my flight, business class, and they handed me the ticket. I walked away and I looked at my ticket and I said, like, why is my seat like 11F? I booked a business class flight. It was 2F. So I went back and she's like, Was something wrong? And I said, Yes. Uh I was booked in business class. And she was like, Oh, okay, let me check. And she I had a feeling that they knew exactly what they were doing. Uh so she said, like, oh, there was an aircraft change, which is all the same aircraft, though. It's all the same, it's all the same uh seats, it is just like deliberately um selling business class, knowing they don't have business class. And I have spoken to so many others who had the same experience, including Mark, the airline tester, a friend of like us, and so I made a video about this because even if you downgrade someone, you have to inform them. Which happens. Yes, but like if you book a Lufthansa fly and they downgrade you, they will send you an email or at least inform you at the check-in counter, right? And so none of this apologize. None of this. So they take your money. Like Do you think they overbook the business? No, I feel like they don't offer it anymore and they just sell it and they hope that people get away with it.
SPEAKER_00Did you book it on like an external site?
SPEAKER_01No, no, on their on their website.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, because the business booked it. And so wait, so we you ended up entering the plane. Did you end up flying it? Yes. Yeah, I ended up flying it. But did they have a business class that also set up?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, they had like they had the curtains and stuff like that. So it was really, really strange. So what happened next? So I posted the video because you know what I'm like, right? If there's if there's bullshit going on.
SPEAKER_00I mean in the story. No, hold on. So you're at the checking desk, you get the wrong ticket. Yeah. What did she say?
SPEAKER_01Nothing. She just handed me the business the ticket without saying anything. You know, instead of like, so I already didn't get an email. But the right thing would be, hey sir, sorry, I saw that you're big uh booked in business class. Um there's what to do to what did she say instead? She said nothing.
SPEAKER_00You came to her and said, but you came to her and said, hey, this is wrong. What did you say?
SPEAKER_01Oh, that was when I came back. So when I checked in initially, I just got the boarding pass. No comments.
SPEAKER_00What happened when you came back?
SPEAKER_01She said, Oh, let me check. And then she said, Oh Computer says no? No, she's like she checked and she said, Oh, there was a change of aircraft. Computer says no. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay. Which is weird because they're all the same. And and what did you say? Did you say that you have I mean you literally have one?
SPEAKER_01I said, like, can I get a refund or what's happening? Can how can I get my money back? Or you have to get in touch with Air Montenegro. Which is really, once again, they steal my money, they sell me a product that doesn't exist or they don't honor, and I should run after them, my valuable time, and ask them, back them, back them to uh to get my money back. No, this is like you proactively have to look after you promised me something, I paid you a lot of money, I promised you um uh they promised me a product, they didn't uh fulfill this promise, and uh yeah, this is if I would do that to you, if I like you would call me a scammer. That's what it is. Did you did you reach out to Montenegro? No, why would I reach out? Right. So I posted a video okay experience, like me as the uh YouTuber who does flight reviews, I published that, and then it was all over the news in Montenegro. Uh, president got involved, the pri the president of Montenegro. That's kind of crazy how it ended up on his desk.
SPEAKER_00It's like interesting because like that's is that is uh like very high tier. I mean, I don't mean to debase your videos at all, but like imagine it happened in Germany with like Chancellor. Chancellor Merc reaching out, so you didn't like the blue. So you were scammed on the chancel.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like that's like funny how that's like high tenure, but I mean they're they're really keen on joining the European Union by 2028. You want to make sure. Um, I heard terrible, terrible stories about the airline, and then they reached out to me just the other day after some time. So they made a public statement, the president made a statement. Crazy. Yeah. And they made all those statements, and nobody has spoken to me. I was like, hey, I am the victim. Hello, my money was stolen. Maybe somebody wants to talk about it. How much do you think was it? Uh so I paid 500 euros for the business class ticket, and the and that's another funny thing. So the economy class ticket was 170 uh Euros, right? So from Zur from uh Podgorza, the capital of Montenegro, to Zurich. And they said, in this case, we uh uh ref we will refront you 30% of the ticket price.
SPEAKER_00Which doesn't really make sense at all.
SPEAKER_01Which doesn't make sense at all, but once again, they're trying to still steal money from me. So they they treated me like absolute garbage.
SPEAKER_00D did they give the statement on the reason as to the downgrade why why was the downgrade?
SPEAKER_01No, but they said they're literally they kept they stick to their story, they say, for operational reasons, and we had to uh swap aircraft. So even their email, I can actually pull it up. Their email is actually such but they must have overbooked the business class then. No, I don't think they have no business class. No, no, there was nothing. There was nobody in the business class. No, they don't even like uh have a business class. But w where were there people in front? There was one uh person sitting at 1A. Yeah. Why didn't you just sit? Yeah, they I moved then to 2F. And then nothing. I just got the same. I was just sitting there. Was there any service? No, there was nothing. There was no service. The crew was just sitting around, and I heard in Montenegro, you only get hired if you have connections, you're related. That's a it's a kind of a balcon kind of thing. The the mentality there is still a little bit different. Uh so you get hired by by connections. So I got a message from Branislav Nesich. No idea what his manager customer support from Air Montenegro. Air Montenegro. Should I read it to you? We would like so the bit is like, oh, please accept our sincere apologies for the situation, any discomfort, disappointment it may have caused. We would like to express our sincere regret that your journey didn't meet your your expectations.
SPEAKER_00Shouldn't it be like your ex as if you're our expectations?
SPEAKER_01Yes, but if you particularly due to the inconvenience caused by downgrading, we are aware that the travel arrangements are often carefully planned and that any unexpected change may affect overall travel experience. For this reason, we completely understand your dissatisfaction and sincerely regret the circumstances that led to this outcome. So right now, a very standard template kind of email, right? Yeah. Um that's not uh regarding that, we would like to assure you that the situation wasn't a result of any intentional action, but rather occurred solely due to operational and technical reasons. In the mean of an ad hoc aircraft change, unfortunately resulted in you flying on the only aircraft in our fleet configured as all economy seat. It's wrong. I flew on two both of their planes, they all look the same. My plane that I flew even had the curtain to separate it?
SPEAKER_00Well, perhaps it's not about maybe it's about crew. So maybe maybe it's not about the actual plane model, maybe it's about the training crew and whether they have a clean or even configured as all economy seats.
SPEAKER_01So which is wrong because all the planes look exactly the same. All of the planes are the same. So what is the difference there? So once again, it's they're using the same excuse, though it's a massive lie. But there's yeah, yeah. And then we would also then it gets even worse. We would also like to inform you that as stipulated in the law, in case of downgrade to economy class, the passengers are entitled to compensation in the amount of 30% of the fare paid for that flight. According to that, the funds have been credited to the credit card that your ticket was paid with. So from a service perspective, I would not okay 30%. So I still pay a lot more, right? So what is 30% from of 500 of 500? That's not maybe 150? That's like 150. So they still keep on stealing money from me because the regular economy cost ticket was 150 or whatever. So yeah, so I would as a certain I'm gonna make a second video about it.
SPEAKER_00It's kind of dynamic pricing, so it's almost higher than that. Yeah, but why go by the law? Literally every business class ticket is definitely more than 30% more expensive than economy. Yeah. Like, do you know what I mean? Like maybe premium economy, but that's out of the case.
SPEAKER_01And then the last sentence, regardless of the circumstances that gave rise to this situation, we understand that this doesn't reduce the inconvenience you experience as a passenger. Therefore, we would like to once again extend our sincere apologies and thank you for your understanding. So, oh, like another uh apology. Like, cool, apologizing is fine. Like, but in a in a high-profile case like this, okay. I don't want to say I'm better than anybody else. Every passenger needs to be treated the same way. No, but the thing is, like if it's a high-profile case, you want to recover in terms of PR, because now we're talking about this on a podcast, and I'm gonna make a follow-up video on this because it has been so significantly, they're gonna look once again really, really like, oh, I don't care. Maybe some people people might see it differently, but I feel like this is a lukewarm nonsense. We have no idea what we're doing here.
SPEAKER_00Well, the the problem is like most companies don't know how to deal with like influencers now, so you know.
SPEAKER_01It's not even influencers, like imagine how would you treat like any other passenger?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, of course. But yeah, I mean like you're you're talking about this being a PR problem. It's like it's like the first time ever. Like it used to be with airlines that when uh when something went wrong, it would have gone into a complaint forum and wouldn't actually have like like you know, uh risen above the surface. And now it does, and so they don't know how to handle it. But yeah, it's it's pretty dumb, obviously. So downgrading and not really being aware of it, it's all about training, but like it kind of showed like what is embarrassing about it is like when you have this, like once again, high now a high profile case, and like the whole Montenegro talks about it, apparently. Like to to to to then like this is about $400, right? This is about you know, this is not much for an airline. That's how much uh the Airbus A320 costs to run for like 10 minutes.
SPEAKER_01And they fuck it up once more.
SPEAKER_00You know, I mean, yeah, so and then and it's like that's like an embarrassing part about it. It's like why don't they just refund the ticket? Like that's like kind of the least thing I would have expected. Did that sound to you that they care at all? Does it feel like sincere? No. I mean, like, I mean, look, I mean, apologizing through words is fine. Yeah, but like the actions don't, like there's nothing in there. There's nothing in there.
SPEAKER_01Like 30%, like that's 30% and they still like think, oh, let's not give him back the X. He traveled in the economy. Yeah, let's just give him back 350 euros.
SPEAKER_00Just give him back what the what the law says. Yeah. Great. Yes, perfect. That's the perfect way to to to deal with with an APR. Uh I mean they might have just I mean they should have genuinely just not answered. They should have just not believed it. They just should have just like maybe maybe like refunded the airport.
SPEAKER_01Maybe they should have just shut down the airline and said, okay, guys, nobody knows about nobody of us knows how to run an airline. Let's just go home. Let's just all go home.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah, or just ignore it. Like, you know, that's maybe a Barbara Streisand effect or something.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but even if they ignore it, like I mean, the either way, okay. So if I was a CEO of an airline and this happened, there's a whole uh high profile passenger, you know what I would do? I'll pick up the phone and call him. Yeah. And I say, hey, sorry. Look, what happened was not what we stand for. Right, that kind of stuff. But like But like show some show some effort and like be sincere and like try to understand my point of view as well and have like some service recovery. And I would say, hey, we we refund you this 350 uh euro because you traveled in the economy. 30%. They still like once again, they steal money from me again. You know, did you check if it was 30%? Yeah, maybe they were like, yeah, I don't know. I don't know which credit card I used. I have to check 20. But who knows? Like, but this is such a joke, and it's just gonna make you look stupid one more.
SPEAKER_00It's pretty funny. It's like it's like it's not it's not necessarily too significant, but it's like so funny.
SPEAKER_01It is just embarrassing. Nobody cares, like it's not like that people travel a lot on air mountain. Yeah, right. It's a small airline, it's not like a safety problem or anything.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but in it was pretty bad on there as well. You definitely have like worse scandals and stuff.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but it could have a yeah, I know. I mean scandals. Like, I like this is just shit. It's just like it's just like rubbish, and it's like not we're not gonna save a lot of people because nobody flies on Air Montenegro anyway. It's like it's not like that is a thing, but it's important to keep like raise awareness. And as we talked about the essence of flight reviewing so many times, right? We are here to take the product apart and we talk about the shortcomings, you know, as they as they as they overcharge us for single kilogram on your checked-in baggage where you pay probably like 70 euros because there was one kilogram too much, you know. That's gotten rid of, like you can't bring bags into the cabin anymore. You know, uh like and these kind of things, they try to change squeeze so much money out of us. Hey, here we are, we fight back as well. You know, we have we have our alliances too, we have power too. Um we have TikTok, yeah, we have YouTube. Like what how do you call it? Uh uh journalism. No, no, no, like people's journalism, right? How do you call it nowadays? People journalism. So there we are. We have platforms, we can do our stuff, and we can have we have a voice, right? And we will use this voice to make your flight better. And if it means taking down those scammers, we will go after them and we will we will expose them. Well, yeah, that's exactly what happened. And that's all I have to say, and I will have um I will make another video and on my main channel as well, and just talk about the same things because this is really annoying. It pisses me off. Yeah, it just pissed me off. Yeah, it's kind of annoying off is also like this airline has so much potential. Imagine how you have three planes, it's three planes only. So let's say your hometown has an airline. Yeah. You would make it look like your hometown. You would make it nice, you would, you would, you would let okay, let's say let's say I have an airline. Uh so let's say I live in uh uh Bora Bora and I have a small plane, I have three planes.
SPEAKER_00I would what's the point?
SPEAKER_01All right, so what I mean is it's a small airline and you can turn this into something really amazing, okay, branding-wise. Uh well team up with a local chef, have small delicacies, have inboard sales. That's how you make your money, right?
SPEAKER_00Do you know the E195 plane is the most overpowered plane ever? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but this is a nice plane. It's nice, it's a nice plane, and then you train your cabin crew, be ambassadors. All the cabin crew was doing was giving out uh a cookie and water, and then they were sitting in the back of the plane, the rear of the plane, all three of them. No, it was terrible. And then they sit there. The one had her Starbucks iced latte, like in the middle of the cabin manager, yeah. Like she was sitting in the rear of the cabin, and there were three of us, they were chatting while being on their phone. So, as somebody who spent spends a lot of money on uh on uh your staff, get your staff to work. You know, do something, you know, but buy on board sale and all these kind of things. You need to make money, right? And this airline is making so much loss. Uh get one of those uh entertainment boxes that you have, right? Uh streaming service to your phone on most of the airlines, they do that now. It's so all so cheap. Like, do something.
SPEAKER_00Do they have like an intranet same thing?
SPEAKER_01They don't need internet. You just like intranet? Do they have it? No, they don't. Why don't you get it? Three planes that cost you. I don't know what a box like this costs, let's say a thousand euros. More.
SPEAKER_00More? Yeah, yeah. The licensing on movies and and that kind of stuff, that will that will be like uh as like a million at least.
SPEAKER_01No, I don't think the license is 100%. I don't think it's that much. The movie licenses. I think there's much licenses. No, no, no, it's like 3D mods. I I I've spoken to someone and said it's not too expensive to get that stuff.
SPEAKER_00Everything in aviation is always expensive.
SPEAKER_01And like the setting up and especially business class, it doesn't exist.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. But internet and stuff. Like, so I kind of get it, like when you don't have money, so but like there's other ways other than like the digital stuff. I mean, start with the human stuff, you know, start with the flight attendant. Yeah. Because you know.
SPEAKER_01But this is what I wanted to say. I got that off my my chest and uh cooking here. Yeah, but I'm glad to see that I have uh such a voice that it even reaches the president. I think a bit a bit of a proud moment there. And it's not the first head of state that reacted to my to my video as well. Once the president of uh East Timor posted about me as well.
SPEAKER_00I think like two percent of American know about the existence of the year.
SPEAKER_01East Timor is the youngest country in Asia. Did you know that? I thought it was in Africa. No, East Timor is not in Africa, it's uh in uh Southeast Asia.
SPEAKER_00Okay, I'm I don't mean to defend an entire country. I mean how many people live there?
SPEAKER_01In Montenegro?
SPEAKER_00No, in East Timor, maybe two million.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. I would need I would need to Google. But uh, what's your guess? Uh how many uh how many people East Timor Timor Lest as they say? East Timor uh population 1.4 million.
SPEAKER_00I said one, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, capital is Dili. Dili. Dili, yeah. Yeah, they used to be part of Indonesia and then they had a do you know Monster Rat?
SPEAKER_00No Montserrat?
SPEAKER_01Montserrat, yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Have you ever been? No. Because it's like a thing, like no one from Montserrat watches YouTube, apparently. So like when you check on the YouTube analytics, there's zero views for Montserrat. Interesting.
SPEAKER_01Have you uh heard of Verdus?
SPEAKER_00Is that a country?
SPEAKER_01How recognized is that? Uh not really, but it's right, it's it's like it's a nation.
SPEAKER_00Is it amazed is it a made-up country thing?
SPEAKER_01No, so it's a young Australian guy who claimed an unclaimed island between uh Croatia and Serbia. It's in the Danube River and it's unclaimed. And he went there and he declared it a state. The free republic of Verdes. Oh, good for him. Yeah, but it's under blockade, they don't let him go there by the Croatians because nobody wants a country, maybe they don't want to have another country, but it ticks all the boxes in terms of UN recognition of countries or what you need to declare a state. Um, because yeah. Uh there he's very they have citizenships as well, they have passports and stuff like that. They have an e-citizen program. They I just spoke to the president of Verdus the other day. He follows me. It's like cool. He's 19 years old, 20 years old. But really cool. Uh follow him on TikTok. Really cool thing. Your generation, you know, what do you do? You're bored. Hey, just establish a country. What do you say to that? How what's your generation called? Gen Z? I'm a boomer? No, I'm not I don't even know what happened.
SPEAKER_00You're barely a middle-anger.
SPEAKER_01I'm a millennial, right? You're barely a millennial, you know. Because I'm 86, right? You're 86. I'm a millennial, yeah. Not a boomer.
SPEAKER_00Boomer, boomer is the boomer generation of like 40s and stuff.
SPEAKER_01So you're Gen Z.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I'm Gen Z.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and so Gen Z, what they do is they play flight simulators and film themselves and make money or establish new countries. Amazing. You guys are a whole lot. You guys are weird. You guys are the final boss of unemployment.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, well, I think that's I think it's interesting. Like nobody works anymore. I know you guys because I do go to university and like my professor in statistics, he was like, why the hell isn't anyone coming to like lectures? People don't go to university anymore. I mean they do study. We have a hundred people in our like study thing, like I mean, in our year.
SPEAKER_01But they go to the parties?
SPEAKER_00They no, no, no one does anything, everyone's at home. It's like it's funny. Like he said that it's like we have 120 people that are enrolled. Yeah. And we always I'm I'm like one of ten who's there actually going. Do you know what I mean? Or like 20? Yeah, actually, actually go. I mean, I don't don't go today. But you know what I mean? So like no one does anything, and he noticed that after like COVID, it's crazy. Like UniLife is dead. My generation doesn't do anything. I don't even know, I don't know what any what anyone does. Like, where where are the people? They just sit at home.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's true. That's true. Or they go and travel. Or they start new countries, or do you two or they film themselves landing planes in New York?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. So what are you doing next week? That's kind of a randomly specific time frame. I don't have anything. Oh, hold on. I do. Sorry. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sorry. I th I th I I did I see now. Well, um, you are finally turn turning thirty. Yeah. Yeah. You're tw near four no you're turning for now. You're turning forty. I mean you have to accept it. And I like that you kind of accept it. I think you have to the good thing is whenever you say it, you know, that you're turning 40. People are like, really? You look younger? Which you do.
SPEAKER_01People say, right? Right.
SPEAKER_00I mean, I mean I feel like you've always looked younger than you do. I mean, at 20, you look 12.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's why I wasn't.
SPEAKER_00And like I'm I'm kind of like then I'm I'm kind of reverse. People think that I'm like 30s. Well, it's you look pretty old, yeah. I look old, yeah. You look really old. I look old. That's very true. But I'm getting my hair fixed soon in Turkey. Yeah, things. I'm I'm I'm getting that done. Um so so yeah, I'm gonna look better on the podcast. It's gonna raise the views. No, so yeah, um, you're turning 40, which I'm looking forward to. So uh we're gonna have a special weekend planned. I'm coming over uh along with friends, you know, Dom. Dom.
SPEAKER_01I hope he's a lot of familiar faces. And uh are you gonna make a video about that special surprise thing? Oh yeah. Yeah, should we no, we should be able to do it. I'm gonna do a video about it.
SPEAKER_00We shall not review it. We shall not reveal what we're doing.
SPEAKER_01No, no, we're not revealing. We have a special thing coming. Because, you know, it's the first time I actually celebrated my birthday. I've never celebrated my birthday. You've always been like a ninja.
SPEAKER_00I don't know what a ninja is. Like a ninja? What? No, that's not even Gen Z slam. No, no, like do you know birthday ginger? Uh ginger? Birthday ginger. I never had a birthday ginger. What's a birthday ginger? Well, that's another thing. Yeah. No, birthday ninja.
SPEAKER_01Are people Oh, so when Ed Sheeran has a birthday, he's a birthday ginger?
SPEAKER_00Okay. Sorry. When people hide the the fact that it's their birthday and like don't really announce it. It's like me, I've been a ninja. It was my birthday like 10 a week ago. I didn't know that.
SPEAKER_01Did I congratulate you?
SPEAKER_00But it's fine. Is it actually your birthday birthday? Yeah, yeah. I didn't I didn't mean to make you feel better, but I'm kind of like a ninja as well.
SPEAKER_01Happy belate birthday then. No, no, it's fine. How old are you now? 27. 22. Jesus Christ. Yeah, no, but we have uh something big.
SPEAKER_00You've been in a ninja, but it's great. I hate when people like are you on the phone all day and having to answer calls and like text? I don't care.
SPEAKER_01There's a lot of people who love the attention. No, I hate it. You know, some see some people, I know some people they celebrate their birthday week. They say it's my birthday week and they announce it every day. You mean like women? Yeah, like a lot of women. Like, it's my birthday week, and they want the attention.
SPEAKER_00No, I think it's important to celebrate yourself. I think that's great, and I love that you're doing that now. Um, it's just that I haven't really gotten around.
SPEAKER_01It's like more my mum. My mum was like, Josh, you've never celebrated your birthday, you're turning 40. Why don't you do anything? I said, Mum, my friends live all over the world. I don't have friends anywhere here in Germany. I've never lived here. So my friends are all in Asia, Australia, uh, US, but I don't have any friends here. And then just as a joke, it's like, let me okay, I invite them. And you see, nobody will come. We live in a very busy world. Most of my friends are like, Can I say hi, achiever? They're businessmen, they're entrepreneurs, they're superstar YouTubers like you, and they have busy lives. And because isn't that what they always say? You should surround yourself with people that are really doing well, and you do well as well. That's why we're friends, that's why we're good at what we do, right? So invited everyone, and they came. Everyone is like, yeah, I'm gonna book my flight. I come. And I said, like, okay, it's my birthday, I need to do something special. And we belong in the air, we don't believe we don't celebrate. That's all I want to say. We might be doing something really cool. Yeah, okay. But we'll talk about it. We have podcasts about this as well. We make a few. Do you think we can steal these beers? I will definitely take that with me. I don't care. Maybe you shouldn't say that. Yeah, now we now we can't do that. Now we can't do that now. You can't steal. You've ruined the concept, but I mean they're Cosmo beer, so this is like a you know, every time you you you you you hit your chair or the table, the people hear that in the podcast. I apologize. This guy is uh high on something, high on kerosene, high on life, on jet fuel.
SPEAKER_00Uh so talking about how we're gonna go to the Boeing party now, which is funny because Boeing doesn't have any planes here, but they still do a party and they call it after burner.
SPEAKER_01But they have the Poseidon here, right? That's a Boeing. Well, okay, that's the only plane that's there.
SPEAKER_00But other than that, it's just basically an Air Buzz. Yeah, that's true.
SPEAKER_01But we uh I think we uh we we just wanted to say thank you. Uh it's been a week. Thank you to Ela. Yeah, thank you to Ela for having us. Yeah, yeah. Like really, really, really fun. Like having uh an air show right at your doorstep. Why not be three hours away? Yeah, met some really cool people here. Shout out to everyone who came and say hello. Like we love to talk to you guys, so it's good fun. And uh uh yeah, I think we should have a couple of drinks now.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna get so drunk. Yeah, no, I'm gonna no, I'm on on on water. Sorry. On water. Wait, I don't I I I don't drink.
SPEAKER_01I I damn I still have to drive. I can't drink that much. Can you drive? Can I drink and drive? No. No, no, no. Can you drive me? Can I drive you? I can drive you. Okay. I will have a I will have an alcohol, non-alcoholic beer. Yes. Yeah. But other than that, guys, thank you so much. Uh give us five stars on Spotify. Hit that subscribe button on YouTube, like the video. Let us know in a comment section below what you think we have planned for my birthday. Which plane are we gonna fly? Are we gonna fly? No, we just take a train. We took the Amtrak.
SPEAKER_00We're taking the ice.
SPEAKER_01We're taking the ice. Okay, guys, thank you so much for listening. Watching. You need to end it quicker and you need to be more snappy on that. Is it? It's always a problem with my videos as well. Blah blah blah blah ping yup yap yap yap bye.
