SPEAKER_01

Alrighty. Okay. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

So we went live with the podcast. We did.

SPEAKER_01

We had we had some some positive feedback. Oh, I'm just talking about you guys. Hi guys. Welcome back to the Beauty Files. Yeah, cats out of the bag.

SPEAKER_02

We uh We did a thing. We did a thing. We're doing an ongoing thing. And uh it is funny because it's I think all the episodes are running together now, but the advice I gave was don't let anyone know what you're doing. And this is where that does not apply. Yeah. We have to we have to let you know what we're doing because we we want this message to be broadcasted and heard worldwide. So yeah, that only pertains to like individual goals, maybe where you're not trying to monetize or be heard, then and only then you shouldn't tell anyone your goals. Otherwise let it rip. Let it go. Especially if you need accountability. But yeah, so we are it's it's been fun hearing, you know, a lot of the the feedback saying they like our voices, the intro song, which I admit is pretty fire. Yeah, it is very fire. You know, it's really hard to to find like an appropriate song that's not corny and not too serious, because we plan on having all different kinds of topics with both being serious, lighthearted, all the things. So I feel like I feel like we nailed it. I feel like it's it's good. But yeah, so I see you brought your own coffee today. I did bring my own coffee today. How how are we taking our coffee?

SPEAKER_00

I just do my French vanilla creamer and my coffee. That's it.

SPEAKER_02

Haven't you noticed though that like the question of how do you take your coffee? It's not you can't say cream and sugar. Like that's not and first of all, that was never enough because that could mean that's an infinite amount of answers. But in in like movies and TV shows, it's like, how do you want your coffee? Oh, cream and sugar. Perfect. Well, what does that mean? Is that how much two teaspoons? Is that one teaspoon? Is that a tablespoon? Is it a tablespoon? Is it now almond creamer, oat milk, um soy milk, which I hope you're not having, um actual milk? Like, what are we what are we doing? Is it half and half? I it's just such a funny.

SPEAKER_00

I can do I if I'm just doing like half and half, I do need to add sugar.

SPEAKER_02

But like I can't say that. My face full erupt. Like I just I got my hair done, um, like hair color and everything, and they asked if I wanted a coffee. And usually I say no because I'm a psycho and I get like I put weird things in my coffee, like maple syrup or monk fruit as a sweetener. And I was like, oh what the heck? I'll just and I said, Well, what do you have? And she's like, just gave me this look like and she just started rambling off all the creamers, and I'm like, you know what? I'll just take it black. I'm good. And she was probably like, thank God. Because I'm thinking, like, yeah, what a that is not a simple question. It never was, but I think it was supposed to be.

SPEAKER_00

I think back in the day most people just did That was it. You had your table top coffee and then you your little creamer packets, and that was it. But now there's so many options. But you also like to put other things in yours as well. I know a lot of people, some people like protein powders in them, some people like collagen in them, some people you really I think it just My coffee works for me. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. I and now when I'm out and about, I don't really expect those places to have those things.

SPEAKER_00

So I as long as I'm making I try to have only one cup a day, although lately I've been having two. I don't know why. I always do two. I think that's my ADHD. It like gets me set for the day kind of thing. Like caffeine is supposed to it actually calms instead of doing the opposite. Oh. Um so most people don't realize that. Um people used to criticize me all the time because I would let my son have like a coke. And I'm like, he's not gonna bounce off the wall. Like it does not do anything for him except keep him calm. Like it won't keep him up all night or anything. So I've heard that about Adderall.

SPEAKER_02

Some people, it makes them crazy, like like energetic and things. It's like taking crack. Like I was gonna say cocaine, yes. I mean, um, but there are some that for sure with ADHD is a certain type of ADHD where it well that's what it's meant to do.

SPEAKER_00

That's wild. That's what it's meant to do. So like if you truly have ADHD, taking a medication like that is not going to make you run around like a crazy person. Like it's not going to do that to you. It's going to actually calm you down and make you feel like focused. Like Okay. And like that's what it does for my son. Have you been have you been on Anarol ever? Do you feel like it's the calmest I've ever been in my life? Like, I didn't know that somebody could be. This is gonna sound crazy. Like, I did not know that you could actually be so like oh.

SPEAKER_02

Like, now is it a choice to not be on it? Or like how do you not to me if I felt that I'd be like, I have to have this every day.

SPEAKER_00

I'm not a medicine person. Um the long the being on things for like long, long term, especially an Adderall and stuff, can really affect like your teeth. It can affect a lot of different sorts of things. So it's like cooking. So it is true for crack, I guess. Yeah, it really truly is. So like it if you're on stuff like that for long periods of time long term, it truly can affect those things. And because as a stimulant, not a non-stimulant, like it's in and out of your system. So it's not like it you have to take it every day to build up. Um so I've tried both. Um to me it doesn't really it doesn't matter because I didn't do it until I was I didn't need it until I was an adult. Let me let me rephrase that. I wasn't diagnosed until an adult.

SPEAKER_02

You didn't know that maybe you could have benefited from it actually.

SPEAKER_00

So I wasn't diagnosed until an adult, so um I didn't have the opportunity to take it as a child. Um, I try other methods, and I also think that because I didn't have the opportunity and diagnoses when I was younger, that's why. I was gonna say you had to cope and um caffeine. Back to caffeine. Caffeine. Um, I could literally drink it all day and it kind of calms me down. I love this.

SPEAKER_02

This episode is sponsored by caffeine. Um I discovered a new drink. Okay. This is not like breaking. Once you you hear it, you'll be like, oh, that's so simple. But I don't know. It just it just hit. You know when something just hits? Um, I got it's super simple. It's an iced coffee with caramel and oat milk.

SPEAKER_00

And it's like I love making some caramel, but again, that's sugar.

SPEAKER_02

I know, but shh shh shh shh.

SPEAKER_00

Uh okay. It's okay. It's okay. Okay, this is okay with it.

SPEAKER_02

This is for my second cup. Okay. Oh, okay. It's obviously, yeah, my my coffee works for me. I've got I've got protein collagen. So it's it's with collagens, I'm noticing it's they're not the same, so you gotta really look at the label. So it could say 20 grams of collagen, but that's not the same as protein. So it's not.

SPEAKER_00

Right. Um now the other thing, so last week we were talking about like how my face was breaking out.

SPEAKER_02

Oh.

SPEAKER_00

I'm wondering if one of the reasons is because I, since I'm already prone to acne, um collagen. Anything with collagen in it, a lot of times will set me over the top. Now I have had a lot of different things. Does it depend on the source of collagen? No.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, interesting.

SPEAKER_00

No, because collagen in general is supposed to just increase. Somebody who already has um, you know, skin acne, they're already reproducing cells at a more rapid rate than the average person. Um so you add things like that into it. It's just like biotin um is not great for people that are acneic. Oh, and we did touch on that. Yeah. So between that, between all the oils put on menstruation happens and stress. So I've had like, you know, we were talking about working on making your your skin better as opposed to covering up your flaws. So I feel like I'm reverting back to a teenager right now because I'm doing all the right things at home, but my face is just in utter, it's like a war zone.

SPEAKER_02

It's it's not, but I can see, especially because your face is the most consistent face I've ever seen in my life in terms of not even just lashes. I think I piggy that compliment a few episodes ago, but your actual face is just even keel, no issues whatsoever. So I imagine that any little like whoop event just gonna set you.

SPEAKER_00

And then that's just setting me into like this tizzy. So Well, you do look terrific today. Okay. I I I had to like put foundation on and stuff, and if anybody knows me, I really don't enjoy doing any of that. Um, it is not my favorite thing to do anymore these days. Yeah. So the fact that I am going back to that and like, oh my god, I can't leave the house without makeup on. It's just kind of like it hurts my soul. Just a little bit.

SPEAKER_02

Have you decided to just spot tree? I mean, you are wearing the whole face has it on. So why not just do um Oh, there's too many of them to just do that. Okay, I don't okay. Oh well, anyway, in case anyone was wondering, and they can tolerate collagen. The one that I like to use is the Great Lakes Wellness Collagen. I think I've put this on my Instagram before, but I do the bovine uh source because that one is 20 grams of collagen and 18 grams of protein. Whereas the marine one is only 12 grams and like six grams of protein.

SPEAKER_00

See, I would I I probably should find a protein powder because I don't eat enough during the day to put in my coffee. That's true. I probably really should, but I don't I feel like sometimes when you put things like what you gave me was great, but I don't know if that contributed to what's going on.

SPEAKER_02

You'd have to do a separate once everything calms down, you can't. Yeah, and I just don't know that I want to do that. I underst well, you know I understand. And if you do follow me on Instagram at an afternoon with Amy, um I was on I did a major hunt for a protein powder. And it's so funny because just right now, this is why it's just no habit is set in stone. I don't care how consistent you are. I've been having protein powdered smoothies every day for two years probably, and I just and then I went on this big hunt and I just haven't had any uh I can't even tell you the last time I had a protein smoothie.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, well, you know.

SPEAKER_02

And my face is really clear. I don't I don't know. And I they weren't dairy the the last couple I've had I don't know. I'm just I'm noticing that if I don't care, then my face doesn't care.

SPEAKER_00

That's yeah See, and it all reverts back to stress because stress then creates inflammation in the body. That's true. And uh this podcast is brought to you by stress and caffeine. And caffeine.

SPEAKER_02

Um let's let's segue because that's the most fun. Um God, there's so many places we could go. So okay. I had a little itch to just you know take a gander at some online shopping websites, um Sheen primarily, and Commence. Have you shopped Commence yet? No, I have not. Alright, don't. It's just don't. I mean, it's great, that's the problem. But it I just I love it. Like I can't stop. The my only pain point with both of these places is their shipping is forget it. Long. Like long, gonna wait forever.

SPEAKER_00

So is it the same price point machine or is it expensive like more expensive?

SPEAKER_02

I wouldn't say it's expensive, but it's more expensive, yes. But it's definitely more stylish. Um but I am reminded of my own advice, which you would think I'd take, but no. Um as again why I love the color analysis stuff. I absolutely hate spring fashion. I hate it with like every fiber of my being. I hate that it's pastels, um everything's like khaki or tan, like all the things that are not my palette, right? And that's all that's out right now. So my advice is always to shop your season during that season.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but I was trying to look for some summer things. Mm-hmm. I feel your pain because everything's black. Yeah, I've noticed a lot of white and black, which white and black, and you're like if you look at my commence cart, you'll be like, it's all white and black. Right. And so like white and black are not, I mean off-white, like not pure white, but you could do like an odd um like a charcoal. This I like that. I like that. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_02

But like Rachel has this cute, is it a jacket? Or is it what they call those? A shacket. They're both wearing green. This is like uh St. Patty's Day uh episode, but not we're both wearing. Different shades. Like, let's be that's true. These are they're green, but Rachel's in her palette. She's wearing a cool-toned, muted, dusty green. It's precious, and I'm in like a jewel-tone green. Yeah, yeah, looking good. Anyway, um, no, your outfit is very on point today.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's nice. I tried to find the my color palette. Mm-mm. Ain't happening. It was like it's not summer yet. You have to wait, okay? We're in spring. Spring is Well, we're not quite in spring yet, but the fashion's out, I guess. Yeah, it is out. But I was looking for like things that were on sale, things that were cute, and not there.

SPEAKER_02

It's not there. It's not there. Yeah, be patient. I should have done all my shopping a couple months ago.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, but would it have been shorts and dresses that were appropriate for that season?

SPEAKER_02

That is actually one of my complaints about the winter palette and shopping during that time. Everything is like always holiday. So even if I want to wear, I don't know, a shirt that's like um metallic or and it's silver, everyone just thinks, oh, your holiday or or green if it's not St. Patrick's Day. It's like, oh, I love your holiday top. No, no, it's not holiday colour. Excuse me. It's the color I want to wear in my season right now, okay. Um, but yeah, I've been um just really annoyed with everything that's available right now for shopping. I just I hate I love this for everyone else that can talk that can wear it, but I cannot with like the the white and then the blue striped anything. Like I just look it's not enough, so I just look like I'm like floating away. Like I'm just drowning.

SPEAKER_00

Stripes in general or just the white colours.

SPEAKER_02

Stripes. It's mainly like that classic spring pattern and anything floral. I just I don't like anything.

SPEAKER_00

Unless you're a kid, I just yeah. Yeah, my daughter we were she wanted to pick out something um Easter Easter esque. And uh we were at Cole's and she picked out a top and a skirt, and it was floral. Well yeah, but she probably looks precious in that. Yeah. I mean, it's cute because she's a kid. You wouldn't catch me dead. Yeah, I wouldn't even put it on my walls at all.

SPEAKER_02

Another, actually, a little fashion tidbit patterns do matter when it comes to structure and the design of the pattern. That really affects how it shows up when you're on your body. So, like for you, example, your soft season, you would be better off with more of a watercolor, like something that's more I don't know what the word is I'm looking for. I'm making this swaying back and forth motion with my hands.

SPEAKER_00

So more of like an ombre uh like clothes.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, now I'm doing like a waterfall look, like just really getting in with these hand motions. We need to be on visual uh on visual anyway. For it, whereas for me, I would look better in a stripe, something very like black and white stripes, um, something more like har harsh, that's not the right word, but um solid, bold, yeah. Like but I but bold florals, oh absolutely not. It it's not for me. It's not for me, and that's why I love style, because yes, even though you have all these quote unquote rules to live by, it still doesn't matter. Like I probably I'm sure there's a floral pattern out there for me, but I'm not gonna wear it because I don't want to and you can't make me.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. That's my new saying this year, by the way. I don't want to and you can't make me. I mean, I love that. I mean, that should be in everybody's vocabulary.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, something else this year we didn't even talk about it. You put it in your our notes today was um the astrology, right? Right. Um well I guess we'll first say yeah, the what go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

They talk about the the lunar years um in astrology and like um so they don't actually, you know, when it says a year for most people, you're thinking January 1st to December 31st. And that's not really how it works in astrology. Those dates change. So for instance, the lunar year this last year, well, this past year, which is still this year, technically ended on what was the date? February 16th, something like that and then the new one, yeah. That was the last day, and the new one started the 17th of February. February Chinese year? Okay, okay. It's like there, but it changes sometimes. It's in January, sometimes it's in February. I I don't know if it can go to late February, but it does it does change. So this past year was the year of the snake.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so everyone just exhale together.

unknown

I know.

SPEAKER_00

Because that's what it's about, right? It's letting go. Letting go, I guess. Like shedding. The year of like shedding, and um I have a lot of change, and change is hard for so so many people. Change is very hard for me. Um I uh I feel like I've had a lot of change this past year, um, which can be good and can be bad. It depends on how you view it or how you take it. Or time, because sometimes you don't realize it's good until you get out of it. Right. What is one thing that you would say was like a big shedding for you? Oh. Um or even like a realization that you're like, okay, we need to leave this behind.

SPEAKER_02

I think it's that expression, like, I don't have to, and you can't make me. Like I I am the master of my own thoughts and how I let things affect me. I mean, even the social media stuff, you you know, I'm not talking about you, the listener. I mean, I can if you want me to, but what I'm about to say, you don't want to be in that camp. But you know, it's a lot putting yourself out there.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_02

And I've I've only, like I said, uh, it'll be a year in May. So and I have not been on social media prior to that. So when I say this is like really fresh and raw, and and you can't help but check, well, d how many views did I get? Well, how many likes did I get? Well, I saw they looked at it, but they didn't engage, and then you're thinking, okay, well, like what did I do wrong? What I do wrong. How do I make it better? And that is not where I want to be. It's part of my French, it's a mind fuck. Yeah, yeah. That's why we put explicit at the bottom of our podcast episode. But, you know, and and I don't I don't live my life by that, and I really hated that. I was falling trapped to just being another person that was like a slave to social media, which we'll talk about with you because you've been the opposite. Um, so it was has nothing to do with you, the listener. It it really is all about me. I need to, I don't, it doesn't matter how you show up, it depends on how I show up. And I've said it a hundred times. The moment this isn't fun, I can either A stop doing it, or B, I need to reevaluate. And that's what I did. I mean, not that it was ever not fun, but it's like I need to just remember that this is I enjoy this. Yeah. I think everyone has figured out by now that my big goal is to get on Saints Instagram of getting some kind of acknowledgement. I've gotten a repost, I've gotten a comment, I've gotten a like, but it's not on their stories. Yeah. And that is so frustrating when you put in so much effort and smile at the camera and be like, how did I feel it? Oh yeah. So I I'm like, oh, you know what? They count too. I need to make a real just because I want to make one. And that's what I did yesterday. I did um it was cute. It just it was like a download I got. It was Tomboy to Glam Girl or whatever. And it was it was fun. And I actually just did it just because I felt inspired and it didn't feel fake, and I don't I have no I haven't looked yet. I don't know what Saint has done, and probably nothing, and that's okay. Yeah. Because I enjoyed it. But I guess that's to answer your question of very long form content uh away. Um I'm letting go of the pressure that I was putting on myself to perform. Okay. Is that yeah? I kind of just should have just said that, but I know you want to know what I meant. So we had to get there to get there.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, absolutely. How about you? So uh I think mine comes down to, and this is something that I have known about myself for a long time. It's just that it was made much more apparent this past year. Um, and I'm done being a doormat. So like hard nodding. Um I have been a doormat the majority of my life, I think. And um people I definitely think underestimate me and or, you know, want to take advantage or um put me in a certain category, and I end up constantly being a doormat and taking the brunt of majority of things. And um I'm I'm done. I'm done, I'm tired, um, it's not okay, it's not fair. Um, I always try to treat others the way that I want to be treated, and while I may not be successful at that all the time, because again, nobody's perfect, and I will be the first to admit that I am nowhere near that. Um I do also and and I think I'm a person that wears my heart on my sleeve, which isn't always a good thing either. Um, and so that is something that I don't want to not be compassionate or caring or kind. Um You can do that and still not be a dormant. Yeah, yeah. And so like that's my goal is, you know, I I need to not allow myself to be that anymore. And that also means looking at myself in a different light. So having confidence in myself and working on that. So trying to get rid of those those past thoughts that uh made me be what I was and I'm gonna do.

SPEAKER_02

So you need like a it's gonna well for both of us really, it's gonna be a conscious choice every day. Yep. And it's for you especially because I'm well, I've that resonates with me as well. Yeah. Like I I know what you're saying. Um it's gonna be an unlearning. Yeah. And that's and that's I I like the whole concept of the the shedding and the year of the snake and all that, but I think people need to understand it's no different than setting a resolution, right? It's yeah, you it's not like literally one and done shedding and you're over it on your habit if you wanted to cut your hair short, okay. Right, yeah. Um, which I think I was reading about that the day of the Chinese New Year. Um, that's like one of the rituals that they have is do not cut your hair or anything drastic. Yeah, like cut the the actual like scissors to to something. Like that's one of their don't do it on that day. I don't know, which I thought was really interesting.

SPEAKER_00

So the example I gave is actually accurate. In in the new year, the new lunar year is the year of the what? Oh, yes, uh the horse. So, you know, the shedding of that, of like New Year's resolution that we would have. Like, so this year of the horse, you know, the year that you get up and you go do a thing, go do a thing, and you rise and you keep saying, I'm like, I'm still feeling like I'm under the horse. I just need to get on top.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I think I'm being trampled by the horse. I think um I do we were talking about this off-air a little bit, and we don't have to necessarily touch on it, but I am noticing like a lot of people are taking this very literally in their career changes. Um I hope it works out. I I sometimes I just worry that people are getting like false inspiration or they think they hear it so often that they think, well, it must be that I have to do something. Yeah. And I don't know. I don't know. I don't know how I feel about it. I've just I've noticed like all over my Instagram when it was really relevant, the the year of the snake and the horse. It was always like, I'm starting this new venture. And it was it was lots of people in in all different industries, which I also thought was wild. So to me, it's like, is that algorithm? Is that truly like people feeling the fire and like, oh, I have to do a thing, I have to get up and do. Um I love a good goal, but I don't like the rules and construct around it, knowing that we're all trying it and we're all gonna fail at the same time.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. It's quite a really negative. Yeah, and not negative, I think realistic, you know, because I mean uh just because it seems as though everyone is doing it doesn't necessarily mean that that's the right thing to do or the wrong thing to do.

SPEAKER_02

It just is a thing do you have a horse goal?

SPEAKER_00

Um so um confident self-esteem, confidence growing, um, growth within myself, growth, you know, outside, um, you know, not allowing the pressures of the outside, whatever that may be, whether that's through work or through family or anything else that's going on in the world, um, affect me and my decisions. Um so just letting that all go.

SPEAKER_02

I well, I think it's the perfect time to talk about how long has it been since you've been on social media.

SPEAKER_00

So that was a one-way, it's been about six weeks, maybe a little bit longer, give or take. Um, so that's why we were talking about um, you know, pages for you guys to follow. Um my work pages is controlled by other people, so I don't have to be on um personal, um, which has been really, really good for my mental health. Um, I do think that um we obviously, y'all, we want you to follow us and and like us and listen to us um and be present. And I think that um, you know, showing our work, showing what we do and how we do it helps bring in or encourage people to see us and um to follow us and like us. But for me, um the algorithm that I had, it was just cons it was all consuming for me. And um knowing how I was how I was taking that in and how it was making me feel um and how it was just spiraling me into a place that I did not want to be. Um I had to turn it off. I had to, and here's the thing: a lot of people are like, oh, did you disconnect it? Did you take the app off? No, I didn't. I just don't click it. And it's right there on my screen. What? So they're right there on my screen. I just have not clicked the button. I have not tapped the screen. I see them, I scroll by them on a regular basis. Um, for me, like that is, you know, I'm it while I would love to get into the gym and like do that um on a regular basis. That has not been something that I can do. And on the other hand, I look at myself and I'm like, yeah, but I haven't clicked this button.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, well, yeah, it's funny. I would say, well, one takes more effort. No, not really. Um I would say it takes great effort to not click the button. So let me ask you this. This might be a tell or not, I don't know. Are you is it that you're not clicking on it out of fear of what's on the other side of the button, and that's what's keeping you away, and knowing that it's just all bad feelings on the other side and you don't want to face it, or is it your curiosity is just like eh, like you're just burnt out and don't even don't even care.

SPEAKER_00

I think it's kind of both. I think it's uh I think it's both, and I think that's why it was such a mind F for me. And this is why I don't let my kids have it. So my son's going into high school. He doesn't have Instagram, he doesn't have Facebook, he doesn't have TikTok, he does not have Snapchat because I feel like all of these things, um, especially for kids that are developing and they see all these things, they might think that I need to be perfect, I need to look like this, I need to do this, I need to, you know, I should do this stupid thing, I should whatever. It's it's the should. And um, you know, the Snapchats were that's where that's where all the mean girls are. That's where all the mean people, like everybody hides behind it. And it's just to me, watching it and then talking to other people, like talking to people that reality is completely different than social media. And like that's what I love what we're doing. This is because it's like we just want to be real, yeah. And I feel like it's not real, and even though I know that, and I'm an adult.

SPEAKER_02

That's what's wild about social media is you can know and still and still it affects you, and it still sends you for, you know, a loop.

SPEAKER_00

Like I think it's great because you can see what's new out there and what's this and what's that, but then then you might go, Well, I'm not doing that. So I'm behind, or I'm not good enough, or whatever it may be. So it might seem greed and fun, and then you see like five other people are already doing it, and then you're like, wait a minute, what's wrong with me? Why haven't I it There's so many different ways that you can look, oh, this family is going here on vacation all the time. Well, why can't I go on vacation all the time? Even though you know they're miserable. You know, it's like all the things, you know, you see this person who set a goal for themselves and they put themselves out there that they're doing it and they're and you're like that I'm so happy for them. And then you look at yourself and you're like, what's wrong with me? Why can't I do that? You know, and it's like it all comes back to, you know, the confidence, the self-esteem, the judging, and it's not necessarily just judging of other people. We judge ourselves often on a regular basis, constantly, 24-7. And I did that enough as a child. Yeah. And so for me, again, that's like why I feel like I was always a doormat, because I was always so hard on myself, anyways. And then you have other people coming at you, so it's just easy to put yourself in that place.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So again, that's why I've removed it. And I don't allow my children. And you know, some people might think that that's crazy. Like you need to expose them. Oh, they're exposed. Don't get me wrong, they're exposed to everything. I don't sugarcoat things for them, I don't hide it for them. Um, but I also don't think that I I truly think that you and I like grew up in a world that was the best because we've kind of seen everything. Like we had it, we had antennas on the big box TVs, we had, you know, traditional phones, then we went to dial-up, then we had beepers, you know, beepers before there were cell phones, and we've kind of seen all of those things.

SPEAKER_02

And we've had the natural trajectory and growth, and we've had to adapt instant gratification, we had delayed gratification, yeah. And then we're in this instant gratification world, everything is instant. And it's still hard for us. So imagine being born into instant gratification.

SPEAKER_00

And I think that's why, too, like these kids, my kid, like everybody wants everything right now, and God forbid they can't have it right now.

SPEAKER_02

And not to mention, on your Instagram, I I don't care. I've I haven't touched on that. I like showcased and highlighted my everything was just ads of the same freaking thing of a person drinking beverages because I was looking for protein power. Yeah. Everybody's selling you something, they're renting houses in these really beautiful kitchens. They're not theirs. I don't know. I don't know. When girls are trying on their commence outfits, everyone is gonna have commence ads now. They're always in a hotel room and it's a beautifully lit, and I'm like, this isn't real.

SPEAKER_00

And and again, so that's why I love that break.

SPEAKER_02

I love that because you are also modeling to your children, like, hey, I'm not even doing it. So why do you get to do it? Yeah. Now I will flip things on its head for just a second, because there is there is a positive side to all this too. Um, you said it earlier of the whole like you're looking at someone, you're like, Why aren't I doing that? So I flipped that. I someone was doing what I'm doing now on Instagram, they have 500,000 followers, and instead of being like, Oh, I hate her, I was like, I can do that. Yeah, I can do that, and I did. And yeah, it's much smaller, but I know she started out that way. She's been doing it for almost 10 years. Right. So just because I'm not I no longer I still follow her and I still occasionally look at her content, but I've decided not to because it's letting it's I'm not comparing. I want to be real clear. It's just that I don't want to be her exactly. Yeah. I want to do my own thing. So I stopped looking at her stuff. But I was like, oh, I'm really glad that I did follow her and I didn't let it bother me.

SPEAKER_00

And and again, it's not necessarily that it bothers me, but then again, I know that I should do it, and I can't make like you have actual, you are truly comparing.

SPEAKER_02

I are you following, are you talking about pages that are similar to your business? Like where are you?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, like in in business, whether it's business or even personal. Like and you know, it's like I know I should, and again, this is the doormat part. So this is why I've also been like, okay, I need to stop, I need to get control over one thing at a time.

SPEAKER_02

Cause I would tell you right now, you don't you don't have to, and no one can make right. So I feel like you need to drop the should mentality as well. Yeah. Yeah. I give yourself, yeah. I I hate the term give yourself grace because I feel like every it's just it's so overused now. I still think it holds a tremendous amount of power, but I feel like when you hear give yourself grace, it's like yeah, no, I'm not gonna do that. That's just not I there needs to be a um a rebrand of give yourself grace. Let me let us know in the comments what that should be.

SPEAKER_00

Um it and I also again it it does it sucks up your time, it's a time suck. That is for sure. So it does all of the things, and I feel like I also need to focus on things that are super important right now, and that's not super important at the moment. I'm probably and there are things that I need to adjust, and once I adjust and feel like I've done that well enough or long enough, and I'm ready for whatever may be next, then I will do that.

SPEAKER_02

So uh this is a great segue because you just told me off air that you've noticed TikTok has now become like everybody's news source. Yeah. Um, and then for everything. For everything, and that also I was thinking when you told me that so is AI. Like, where are we even thinking for ourselves anymore? Are we are we so you said what did you was it cli was just people, just everyone in your everyday?

SPEAKER_00

Like everybody on my everyday, whether that be at work or not at work, it's just I saw this on TikTok and I I get my information, I get my weather, I get my things, and I'm like, TikTok? Wow. And yes, let me be clear. I have a TikTok account, I don't get on it ever.

SPEAKER_02

A TikTok? I don't understand.

SPEAKER_00

I don't I just it's like short clips, and I'm like, how do you get your information? But apparently there's a lot of ads on TikTok. Like people buy like TikTok shops. I've heard are like all the rage. All the rage. Like get and I'm like again with what with what we do, it's like really, yeah, that's where you're getting all and fair enough. Some of them are some of them are legit. Yeah, I'm sure. I don't know because I again I'm not on TikTok, but I'm sure some of it is is legit, but I just don't know how all your news, all your information. Right, that just like that can't be your only source.

SPEAKER_02

And I'm like that's a red flag in every other industry. Like look at um look at plastic surgery, okay? It is a red flag if they are a one-stop shop. If they are good at everything from noses to tummy tucks to breast augmentation to facelifts, whoa, like all of it. Yeah, hold on. Let's that's a red flag, okay? Same thing with I don't know, so many different things. So to say that you're getting your makeup tutorials where you get your news. Uh-huh. Like, hmm.

SPEAKER_00

And food. So many people. Oh, okay. Like their dinners and stuff, recipes. Makes sense.

SPEAKER_02

I'm not saying it's not great, but I'm also saying like well, I mean, I get there's a place.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so don't get me wrong, like there's a place YouTube has so many different.

SPEAKER_02

Instagram is a news source for me. So I can't I'm not really one to talk. Actually, am I really one to talk?

SPEAKER_00

You get a lot of ideas.

SPEAKER_02

I get I get.

SPEAKER_00

See, now that you're looking at you, like, oh wait.

SPEAKER_02

I don't get my weather. I still pull up the weather channel, but it's still something that's telling me what it is. Oh, see. Ooh, I'm feeling very hypocritical at the moment in real time. Hold on.

SPEAKER_00

All right, hang on. So I can say this because I'm not on any of it. So I can literally say I will look at several different sources. I will Google different articles or different things or look for different sources because I think that it's important, especially you need to hear statements. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um that's the danger about your algorithm too. And and I okay. Yes, I get certain news on my Instagram. But will you go look it up then? Well, yes, and to hear the other's side, because I'm in a funnel of everything I want to hear. Right. So if you're not challenging your own algorithm, like that's on you. No. And this is my PSA. This is on you, everybody. Like you have to, you have to wake up, essentially. Yeah. Now I stopped going to my AI. I'm tired of it complimenting me on my question right from the start. That's a great question, Amy. And you're right to ask it. Shut up. Just answer my question. Even if I want to like know a math problem. Hey, what's 85 times 145? Whatever. Oh. Here you go. Here are all the steps. Nope. Just want the answer. I don't I should have opened the calculator app. Like what I'm so tired. Uh and then if I if I say, hey, that's not accurate, you were right to call me out on that. Oh my god. Like, why do we have you? Anyway, I get I get really upset now with so now I'm like, you know what? I'll just Google it. Yeah. I have I have officially moved on pretty much from Chat GPT. Oh, I can say it faster than you. Chat GPT.

SPEAKER_00

You can say it. Listen, that and I don't know why that just tongue ties me to mine's P T S D. Like I I always want to say P T P D S T.

SPEAKER_02

I'm like, nope, nope. C and I chat G P P T T. You got it. You got it. And we don't even know what it stands for. Um, but I will say, can I just for a moment just go off? I don't think the audience, especially anyone that follows me on Instagram, knows. I write my own posts. And I just really need everyone to like just have that for a minute. Like I take the time to write the post. Yeah. And we are not using an AI assistant. And I feel like I now need to add that to the hashtag because it's it is becoming glaringly obvious when people do use AI. And I it upsets me because it's like, do they know, like do they know why they're do they know that what they're posting is actually accurate to what they're showing? Or are they just removing all well I trust that AI is gonna break down this picture for me? I don't know what the picture's saying, but do you know what I'm saying? Like you're you're you're giving up your sense of common sense or or just your sense of curiosity to even or creativity. Yeah, I don't know. That's all I have to say about that.

SPEAKER_00

I yeah, whenever I would do a post, it would be I don't think I've ever seen you do that. Written. I haven't done one in years and years. So I love Well, actually, I don't know. I I yeah. I mean that's a it's not a bad thing. I used to all the time, and then when everything started to change and the algorithm started to change for everything, it was just kind of like, does it matter? Well, it's exhausting.

SPEAKER_02

Right. I think. And even when you finally figure it out, and I'm using air quotes, it's already changed.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. You think you figured it out, but you didn't really figure it out because it just changed two seconds ago.

SPEAKER_02

I'll give you a great example. This isn't even the algorithm, this is just this I love you, Saint. Um, they did a thing called Makeover Monday, and they've been doing it for as long as I've been following the brand. Okay. So finally I'm like, oh, you know what? This is gonna be my way to get up. And then they're like, no, we're not gonna do that this Monday. We're gonna do something else.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And then I'm like, okay, okay, let me just see. And then the next Monday, they're back at it. They're like, makeover Monday.

SPEAKER_00

And I'm like, how am I supposed to like frustrating? It is, it is. Um, and again, that's another reason like social media just it can just send you over the edge because can make you go insane. Yeah. And that's why we love it. We love it. It's a great tool. It's a great tool, but you know, uh uh going and listening to a podcast, I can absolutely go listen to something. It's just an I don't need to visually see it. I don't need to Okay, then the same.

SPEAKER_02

I during the day, honestly, I'm really only on Instagram to create.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And unfortunately, I am still a slave. I do check and see like how's it doing?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um, but no, I am podcast person through and through. Um I love podcasts. I had to be doing things. I can't just sit and scroll. Like I need to be that's just my personality. I'm type a perfectionate, the whole thing. Like I need to be if I'm not folding laundry, if I can't fold laundry in silence.

SPEAKER_00

You always have to have something something in the house. Like you have to have something on, whether that be like music or a TV show that you're listening to in the background or a podcast.

SPEAKER_02

That's why um Sunday drops is very important to me. Because usually, as someone who listens to podcasts, like just non-stop, Sundays are at least the shows that I follow, everything drops off. There's there's nothing. Yeah. And I just find Sundays to be kind of a quiet day. And I'm like, really cool. Oh yeah. This is the perfect little window. So um I would love feedback from the audience actually. Are you do you find that if you're a podcast listener, do you like Sunday drops? Are you listening as they drop? Is there a different day? Uh, because I can schedule that. Yeah. I'm getting I'm getting good at this at the at the the tech, sort of. Not really, but you know, I'm trying. We're trying. Trying. Working on it. Speaking of that, did you smell whiskey or anything when you came down here? No, not really. Um my husband uh was working on something. He was uploading it uh uploading our podcast. Yeah, there's multiple steps. You can't just make a podcast. Yeah, I suppose you can use one that sounds good. Um, but he was doing one of the the steps. There's four steps that we have to do, and he I watched him. He poured himself a glass of of whiskey, came downstairs, and then like two minutes, he's back upstairs and it's empty. And I'm like, whoa. I just spilled it everywhere. Oh no. I was like, but the laptop, nothing happened to it, none of the equipment, but it was just funny because he's like, it smells. I'm like, well, some there are worse smells. Yeah. But I didn't smell anything.

SPEAKER_00

I didn't smell anything either. I was kind of disappointed, actually.

SPEAKER_02

Oh this uh podcast is brought to you by Whiskey.

SPEAKER_00

We went back to talking about the lunar years, and then we were gonna talk. Yes. Yes, go ahead.

SPEAKER_02

So um I'll pull up the article or the stats, but go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

Um we were talking about um just our our uh astrological signs. Yes. And compatibility um in different aspects. So I don't know if you guys uh pay attention to like when you were born, like your your birth month, and you know, what's your sign and what does that mean about you? Does that do you feel like it resonates with you? Like, is that your personality or not your personality? And then also um it'll tell you like who's your your most compatible for relationship, for business, for you know, friends. Um and then when things go bad or good, like it just tells you all of these things. Um, it's very interesting, I would say that um for me, my sign again. Um I don't know, Amy, do you feel like my sign is very well? Let's start. What is your sign? Some cancer.

SPEAKER_02

And I only know about my own sign. Tell us some features, some quirks and features about your sign.

SPEAKER_00

Um, so my sign is um considered a water sign. Okay. Um, so it it says that we're very emotional. Okay, we're very compassionate people. Um, we can wear our heart on our sleeve. Um while we can have very strong personalities, um, other personalities can sometimes kind of overshadow us according to Oh here.

SPEAKER_02

I love this because this is what you just said. Deeply emotional, intuitive, and nurturing personality with a protective shell.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Oh, I like that. So again, that is is definitely me like especially intuitive. Like, if I think something is I can normally feel it in my gut before I know it's coming, and people think I'm crazy, and I'm like, no. Yeah, look. Something's not right.

SPEAKER_02

Apparently you're ruled by the moon.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And they are known for extreme loyalty, creativity, and a strong attachment to home and family, though they can be moody or at times clingy. Do you feel that's accurate?

SPEAKER_00

Um, I would feel like I will be the first person, and I don't know, I'll tell you if I'm in a mood. I'll be like, listen, I'm just kind of having one of those days. Like, I I I want to make sure that people know, like, it's not you, it's me. Like, so I was pretty self-aware. I am very self-aware if I'm in a mood, and I'll be like, listen, I'm just like, I'm having a really high anxiety day. Or you know what, I'm just kind of not feeling it today. Um, so I am I'm very much like that um as far as protective, especially when it comes to my family and my children. Like, I am that, yeah. Like I am, I am pretty much like a I'm gonna come after you if I need to. Like, don't you dare, don't you dare.

SPEAKER_02

I feel like mine's pretty accurate too. Um, so I'm am I an earth symbol? Is that is it earth? It's an earth sign. Um I am grounded, reliable, and patient. Uh which is I'm ruled by Venus, which I don't like because I actually feel like the moon. I just feel like I'm very moon. I don't know why. But apparently I'm not. It's Venus. Um, I'm known for being stubborn at times. My husband can agree with that. Um, yet I'm incredibly determined. I do value stability, comfort, and luxury. Um, and this is where I actually like really relate. They are sensual, pleasure-seeking individuals who appreciate art, nature, fine food, often exhibiting a hard-working, loyal, and possessive nature. So the first time I read about my sign, it was worded differently, but it was all about your environment. And that is look, if anyone knows us, they know that I don't have a normal light in my house. Everything is on a dimmer. I always, uh apart from when we're podcasting, I always have music playing. Like, there's always candle. Like, I am so aware of my environment. I'm very sensitive. Like, if I go to an establishment and it's like fluorescent lighting or even white lights, I instantly get a migraine. Um, I'm very my environment is just very important to me. Um, I'm also type A, not because I'm driven by money. I just like I just feel like I always have to be doing something. Yeah. Um, so that being said, I looked up Cancer and Taurus um working together. And it says we are excellent, we have excellent business uh compatibility, blending practical, grounded energy and intuitive nurturing care. They create a stable, loyal, and financially prudent partnership focused on long-term security with Taurus managing practical logistics and cancer handling client relations and creative vision, ensuring high trust and productivity. And look, yeah, I just read that on the air, never looked at it before. Okay. So I told you, you gotta have children. Yeah, they'll teach you to read by reading um Dr. Seuss and then on their way up. But so anyway, so that's kind of fun. Yeah. Would it be funny if we pulled that up and it was like terrible business partners?

SPEAKER_00

It would be host.

SPEAKER_02

I'd I'd prove it wrong. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

No, no, it'll all be fine. It'll be fine. But yeah, that is um and look, y'all, we didn't know that prior to this.

SPEAKER_02

We did this is not something that you know we looked up or I don't um I I don't I don't take it seriously, but I am fascinated by it. Now that you're aware, yeah. Yeah, because over the years of of especially when you learn someone's sign and you're like, oh, that explains so much about that person and why we didn't jive. Because again, at the term of like toxic people, I always eye roll at that because that person's not toxic to everybody. No. And you could be toxic to someone else. Like it's just it's a bad, it's a bad mix.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. So there are there's like a specific sign, and I don't know if you have one that's very specific that is like your compatibility, but then if it's n if you're not compatible, it's like danger zone.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I should look that up. Yeah, I'm just generally curious.

SPEAKER_00

Like just in general.

SPEAKER_02

It's Scorpio for you. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Right?

SPEAKER_02

I think you told me that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. It's like either great or danger. Oh. Well, I don't like those. It's like you're either fantastic or when it's when it's not good, it is just like mm-mm.

SPEAKER_02

Mine's um Aries, Aquarius, and Sagittarius. Okay. I don't know. I have no idea why. That's so interesting. So yeah. So I don't know. Stay away, people. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

It is very I mean, again, I know maybe this isn't interesting, but I do think I think everybody should look. Just look in it just for for fun. Like, look at that person, look at yourself. Like, do you think that it resonates with you? Do you think like those characteristics are you know accurate, and then look at the other person and you go, wait a minute, huh?

SPEAKER_02

Let us know in the comments if you're with your soulmate or not.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Or let us know if you're with somebody who's like the total opposite. It says that you would never, but like everything's great and great, and you're just like, We want happiness. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

We're a happiness podcast.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I just I I find things like that to be, you know, very interesting. Especially when you're not supposed to be compatible and like you are, and you're just like you were the odd one out.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. This podcast is sponsored by happiness and coffee and oh c oh caffeine, uh, whiskey. And there was another one.

SPEAKER_00

Protein collagen.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, and collagen. Um all right. Uh yeah. Um, hey, now that it's out, we need you guys to have some real engagement on the Instagram. Uh, we are at the Beauty Falls Pod. Yeah. I'm still at an afternoon with Amy. Rachel is still at Exquisite Med Spa. Um, yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

We're gonna have some events coming up. I do have an event coming up um March 29th. It is an open house. Um, if you're interested, please DM me. It's for I'll be doing color analysis, and then we're gonna do another one um, like a part two. And if you've had your color analysis done, then we're gonna focus on if you want to try Saint. Um, because I have all the things for people to try. Um, and then I have a couple others that are not official, so I can't talk about them yet. So anything you'd like to promote?

SPEAKER_00

Any are you doing another um are you thinking about doing another event? We are gonna be doing another event. Um, it's probably gonna be um in late April slash May-ish. We are going and doing like an event in May at another location. So that will be. Oh, yeah, I saw that. And then um we'll probably do one at ours. Um we are gonna try to uh do some other local events, although I will tell you that's a little bit harder than it seems. Um a lot of these places only allow a certain amount of vendors to be there. Um, so you have to kind of like get in or know somebody off the bat, otherwise um you don't. So we're still looking at other events to kind of get involved with. Um, and hopefully we'll have more and we can uh tell you about that later.

SPEAKER_02

And if you're um a listener in the York area and you do a thing, uh let us know because maybe we can heck, we'll put on our own event.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, absolutely. We would love to put on our own event or you know, collaborate. Um, we're always up to collab with whoever. So if you're looking uh to do something, we're here.

SPEAKER_02

And the one thing I'll say is that yes, no one can make you and you don't have to. And you too. You can do it too. Yeah. If there's a thing that you're like, uh, I really want to do that, and I'm annoyed that Amy and Rachel are starting their own podcast, go do it. You can do it. Do not let us, we're not here to trigger, we're here to inspire. Yeah, absolutely. Anyway, that's all I have to say about that. Um, that's it. Thanks for hanging out.

SPEAKER_00

And case closed.
