SPEAKER_01

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. Um, hey guys. Um welcome back to the Beauty Files. We've been recording for like 20 minutes, and um it wasn't recording. So that was fun. That was that was that's such a disappointment. I'm so disappointed. We can't even replicate what we just talked about, and it was good. Okay. We're gonna try though because it was that good. Right. I started out by saying this podcast is brought to you by nothing. And then this is so upsetting. So upsetting. Okay. Well, I I mean, all right. Rachel has a cookie, and we talked for like 20 minutes about this cookie and what it represented and the morning we were having. And um, it's actually makes sense because it falls right in line. It falls right in line, and that's hey guys.

SPEAKER_00

So how are we? And and we've decided that we're gonna add an episode of what was it? Uh Cookies and Coffee Coffee. Oh, yes, a segment called Coffee's.

SPEAKER_02

This is Did I mention Welcome back to the Beauty Files? This is um, this is what it looks like. This is the day in the life, this is when things don't go well, and we just have to adjust and adapt.

SPEAKER_00

And move forward.

SPEAKER_02

And overcome and move forward. All the things. All the things. Um, we owe you all a really sincere apology. One that you didn't even know you needed. Um we I visited um Exquisite Med Spa for a hydrofacial, and we f we did it, and then um that's when we realized that we were supposed to film it, or at least and then we didn't. We didn't, and so we're sorry. It was great though, can I tell you?

SPEAKER_00

Your face looks amazing. How's your face feeling? It feels great.

SPEAKER_02

I did have a few little like hello, little little zits.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, see, my face is right now your face looks great. Well, I have a lot. So after you do CO2, typically, especially a more aggressive one, you will not have an aggressive one, not you. You will have a break. Like if you're going to. Um, it's typically, you know, between days nine and twelve.

SPEAKER_02

It's not bad. You've got how many are on your face? You've got like three.

unknown

You're fine.

SPEAKER_02

Um you've got like the Trinity on your face. That's fine. I have one literally in the center of my forehead.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I mean that's where you were flaking the most and everything. So it's probably why you got that.

SPEAKER_02

But the hydrofacial was spectacular. We also did um derma planning, which is where Rachel takes like a razor scalpel. Oh, oh, I like that.

SPEAKER_00

Uh so my face is so smooth. Got rid of all the uh any leftover um oh boy, yeah, we had dryness and serious scaling. Scaling that we had, so it gets rid of the 28 days of dead skin cell um buildup and vilious uh hair that you have on your face and um just kind of give gives you that baby smooth.

SPEAKER_02

If you're new, if you're new to any kind of in-office procedure, might I recommend starting with the derma planing appointment. It's um it it just it goes beyond that. It helps your uh skincare absorb better, right? Yes, helps your makeup go on more smoothly. It and it it just I guess foliating is real. And it's it's deeper than and more impactful than your little scrubby beads from your Neutrogena.

SPEAKER_00

Also, your little razors that you're gonna buy over, they're not doing the same thing as our we're doing. Um I will literally see the dead skin cells like we go back over. It's it is getting really getting rid of all of that, which is a good thing. We all need to uh you know, we mentioned the what's the thing?

SPEAKER_02

Oh Sandrilly, the pill uh not pill popper cheese. Pimple popper. Oh, that's a that's a different uh person. Um and how like that has a following and all that. So have you thought about that? You should be posting the disgusting skin cells and hair that comes off of a different thing. I think people would love that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean sometimes we take pictures of it and post it. I should have posted yours, especially after the procedure, because you know it's it was gnarly. You had a lot. You don't even show me, and usually I like to see that.

SPEAKER_02

That's okay. Like I said, we forgot to do a lot of things that day. Yeah. Um, but that's because Rachel was so focused on I had a lot. I needed a lot done.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. But your skin looks much better. I'm still healing, still have some redness um in certain areas. Ver still dry. Yeah. Um, I'm in the breakout phase. Um, so my barrier's still a little unstable. Um working on that and rebuilding the hydration. Um with your four cups of coffee. Four cups of coffee that's gonna be.

SPEAKER_02

So that's what we were discussing before we realized that we weren't actually discussing anything with you because you weren't here yet because we had a malfunction. But we did. Rachel got two hours of sleep and she's on she's on her second cup, but she's probably anticipating two more cups today. Hence the cookie Cookies and coffee, guys.

SPEAKER_00

Who agrees? Like, I mean that's what I was saying.

SPEAKER_02

I had a coffee creamer that was that flavor, chocolate chip cookie. Yeah. And it's I I hope they bring it back because it's it was my favorite.

SPEAKER_00

They better. I'm sure they will. It's you know, but yeah, I um so if you can't sleep at night, I'm curious. Um, leave us a message or comments. Uh what do you do if you can't sleep at night? Do you lay in bed? Do you read? Do you look through your phone? Do you shop? Do you educate yourself on something? Night school. Um, do you go downstairs and turn the TV on? Do you listen to a podcast? What do you do when you cannot sleep? Does it actually help you fall asleep, or does it just keep you occupied until you finally dose off?

SPEAKER_02

Alright, so I have questions already.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

How often does is this happening to you?

SPEAKER_00

It depends on my stress level.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

So um typically you would think that people that are really stressed out probably would sleep more and just kind of be like, whatever. For me, it's like the Energizer Bunny. And because my head doesn't stop, right? I don't stop. I can't like sleep. And um, this is probably like the third day. Also, I will say my daughter's allergies are really, really bad. She's been coughing a lot at night. Um, I've had to be I've had to go in there several times with her. Um So you have a lot of disturbances anyway. Anyway, so um, and I'm a real light sleeper. Real light. So if I hear anything, that's it. I'm I'm awake. So for me, um But you just say you're on day three? Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

In a row? Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Of not sleeping like two, maybe two hours a night, if that.

SPEAKER_02

Like everyone just exhale with me. Let's just let's receive that information. Inhale.

SPEAKER_01

Exhale.

SPEAKER_00

My my we were talking, I was telling her earlier, like I have I wear an aura ring and it uh tells me about like your stress levels and your readiness for the day and how and um yeah, it's it's saying I need some help. It's uh lightened up a little bit lately and saying like my stress levels are uh not so great. We've got you've got some some stuff going on. So in my sleep, I'm clearly your readiness for the day and how you're able to handle stress. It's also based on you know your REM sleep and how well you slept, and yada yada yada yada.

SPEAKER_02

This is why I stopped wearing the aura ring. It was stressing me out.

SPEAKER_00

I honestly look at it and I was like, yeah, I knew that.

SPEAKER_02

Well, mine would it would convince me to feel what it was telling me to feel, even though I felt great, or or vice versa. I would feel amazing, it would tell me you should feel bad. Or if I felt really bad, it was like you are fully rested, you can take on the day.

SPEAKER_00

And I'm like, what? You know, the funny thing is that the aura ring does to you what Instagram does to me. Okay, that's fair. You know what I mean? Like, how weird is that how it is. Yeah, it is. You know what I mean? Like it's true.

SPEAKER_02

It like I see things and it's like oh although I will say I am a little I was a little I go through like spurts on Instagram, and I I don't know if it's just me and I need to be like in the mood when I'm on, so to speak, and I'm posting all kinds of stuff and there's content for days, not actually days, but you know, there's a lot in the day. And then like all week I've been like radio silent and I just do not have I just do not have it. I get so agitated with all the I mean essentially I feel like Instagram has just become channel surfing. Except the difference is that you get to see the beginning of every video instead of you know mid mid-sentence on the flipping of the channel, and it's just ad after ad, or you don't realize it's an ad until halfway through, and you just think it's a funny skit, and then you're like, well, frickin', I just wasted 30 seconds, I watched the thing, I may as well finish.

SPEAKER_00

It's it's um Instagram's a mind fuck.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It is. I'm sorry, it is, and we've I've said it before, like if you have any kind of anxiety, depression, anything like that, like and certain things set you off, um, Instagram is not the place to go.

SPEAKER_02

It's um unless your algorithm is so secured that and and that's the other thing I hate.

SPEAKER_00

It'll normally throw in whatever. It's even if you think one day you're watching puppies and kittens and babies, it's like oh well, test someone getting robbed on the street and see if you watch it, and then that's all you get.

SPEAKER_02

It's wild. Yeah, I I worry, not worry. I am, I mean, it'd be nice if we could like, you know, move on and be off of this stuff. Um, but then I think about all the content creators. This is their livelihood, their living, what do they do? So it's it's a weird um it's a weird conundrum we find ourselves in. And it's like, what do you support? I mean, even your industry now you guys have to have ads, essentially, little skits, little just to stay relevant. Um I wish, I wish, and this is this is actually for the listener here. I just if you like a place that you go to, just be loyal and and just promote that individual um business because it's it doesn't even matter the industry. There's gonna be competition in everything, but customer loyalty is just something that I worry is is fading, and I um and I get it. I mean, in in a sense, I get it. Things are expensive, you want to chase the deal. If you keep doing that, you're gonna put the wrong businesses on the forefront, and then the actual good ones are gonna suffer. And that's bleak, I know. But I just I wish I wish people would understand that. Um and that's that's any place, right?

SPEAKER_00

Right. I mean, I feel like it here's what it comes down to. It comes down to brand loyalty. You know, it's like you're saying the place, so it's like the brand. Like you're gonna go in and you're gonna find somebody and you really like them. Um and then if they leave or they go somewhere else. Um I I get it, like people want to follow that person because they like that person, but people don't realize how much it's affecting that business.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and be careful because just because you liked that person, don't get it confused. It might be because you liked the building, you liked the owner, you liked the line that they used. Um oftentimes it's that business that uh built that person. So every practice piece of it that you liked with that person, it's because they learned it from the place.

SPEAKER_00

So just you know a lot of times the places that's where they grow. That's where they learn, that's where all their training is from. Like they come to most most of the time, they don't come to you with the education it's provided at that facility.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, it's very rare.

SPEAKER_00

It's very rare.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and that's that's and that's not even just the beauty industry. That's that's construction. That's that's tons of tons of places. Maybe, maybe not hospitals, like doctors, but even they all have different protocols.

SPEAKER_00

Even they have to do um like their training a period of time, depending on you know where they're at and like their and different hospitals have different devices.

SPEAKER_02

So it's I mean, yeah, pick a pick a thing, and it's it's deeply um it's deeply woven through the industry, not so much the person. But I digress. I didn't mean to get so serious, but no, absolutely. Yeah, it is So your aura ring.

SPEAKER_00

It is it is weird times. So my aura ring, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um So you're not sleeping, so okay. Oh, let's get back on that. What what are you doing in the middle of the night? What is night Rachel doing?

SPEAKER_00

So again, I don't know. Did did I say like did I say that before we were recording bell?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know, honestly. What it what is this? I don't know. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

I was asking people like, what do you do? Yes, that was this that was this podcast. We're yes, we have that class. Okay, yes. So what I was doing is we're redoing rooms in the office, we're doing the front. Um, we also have a bunch of events coming up.

SPEAKER_02

So we have I have a note to talk about that too.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah. Um, so we're still figuring out exactly everything that I want to do up front and how we're gonna do it, and um, so reorganizing the shelving. What are we gonna do? And um so I spent way too much time um looking up LED lights, like strip LED lights. Yes, yes, and then figuring out how I wanted to make all of the cords go in the direction and then only have one strip to hide the cords last night, and like so you're designing, that's what we're doing. Literally, and then so it's been a lot of time on cords lighting. Um and so the next thing was okay, what do how do I want the placement of the shelves? And do I want to have some like faux plants on there? And like what other decor do I want to add in? Because I don't want it to just be products. I want to make it seem very luxury and nice. I mean, that's exciting. Like, you know, getting everything that I needed to um figure it out.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um lighting is hard. And it's so important. So you have to find soft lighting. Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

Doable. It just yeah, takes some forethought.

SPEAKER_00

I'm gonna have to do that. And um because I can't I can't stand when things are undone. I understand. It literally gives me anxiety. So doing something partway and then letting it sit for a while.

SPEAKER_02

That's actually funny given that you have ADHD, because usually that's a symptom, often with men, but adult ADHD looks a lot like that. Unfinished projects, they get everything, they start it, and then they have to move on to the next before finishing.

SPEAKER_00

So I like that. That's no, I've always been like, I have to finish it. Now it might be I wait until the last minute to do it. Um, but if I start it, I can have to finish. I can that throws me over. It just sends me for a loop.

SPEAKER_02

I well that to me makes sense because you can't close that loop until it's constant in my head.

SPEAKER_00

Constantly. Well, clearly. Constant. And I can yeah, and I can make it stop. So the only way I can make it stop is to complete it.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, it's not it's it's um it's not a bad problem, but we we could probably do better.

SPEAKER_00

My OCD I have OCD too. Yeah, so that like plays into it. Um and I'm a neat person, so if if things feel disheveled, I don't like disheveled at all. Um I like things to be neat and tidy and put away. It makes me feel dirty. I don't like I feel the same way.

SPEAKER_02

That's really funny. Yeah. Uh well I went and your new chairs arrived. I got to see them in person. Yeah. Um, and they look great. The wall color looks great. Love that. You're you're doing you're doing things. Yeah. Not that you were never not doing things, but now you're doing extra things. Yeah. So I'm proud of you.

SPEAKER_00

There's just so many, and I think my in my head, um I I need to get it done because then once I get it done, I can breathe.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Now I know that there'll be something else. Yeah, I was just gonna say. Because there's always going to be something else. But I feel like these are big things right now for me. Yeah. And um I also feel like change can be really good.

SPEAKER_02

We talked about this slats, or maybe just it's a it's a through line. Yes. Change is good.

SPEAKER_00

It can be stressful, but it also can be good. Um, you know, the feedback, some people like it, some people don't. I think some people like change and others don't, and that's okay.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, if you want to see the changes that we're talking about, you have an event coming up. Yeah. Uh May 15th. Okay. It's a Friday. I forget what you're calling it. I should look that up. Zip. Zip. You keep trying to figure it out, and I'll tell you what it is. While we avoid radio silence. Da da da da da da da da. It's Sip, Snatch, and Save. That is fantastic. Um, so yeah, you're gonna have lots of deals on filler, on neurotoxin, biostimulators, waxing, um, some microneedling uh deals as well as appeal in case you're one of the people who avoid the sun in the summer. Uh laser hair removal is a big one. There's a wellness area where they're doing you're doing um B12 injections. Um B12 is huge, which I need to get done.

SPEAKER_01

I had that done at this event.

SPEAKER_02

I for sure liked it. Did you feel like it gave you more energy? I had less coffee for the rest of the week, and I I mean that. Like it was kind of amazing, actually. Um, and I noticed that you're doing a package for three, and I and I swear I think that's just the magic number for you guys for any any service. It's always like best in threes. I have not tried the B12 in a three, and I think I might have to. Uh oh, you're also having permanent jewelry. Yeah. And what's this? Oh yeah. I'm gonna be there. Are gonna be there. Holy crap. I forgot. No, I didn't forget. Um, so that's exciting. So if you actually want to like see us and come hang out, uh, May 15th, it's a Friday. Is it all day? Yeah. All day all day, y'all. It's um it is the event of the spring. Okay. We don't want to miss it. No. This is QVC Live, and I'm with Rachel from Exquisite Bet Spot. I don't know who this is. Who who should this be?

SPEAKER_00

I'm just we're throwing out characters. You you are you are all on these characters. Right now. Love it. Um, I don't think I've had enough sleep for that, but I'm gonna let you know. It would be too much if it's both of us.

SPEAKER_02

But anyway, so that's what we're having. It's a huge sale. Okay. I think it's Janice.

SPEAKER_00

20% off. This is Janice. Yeah. Oh, we're doing 20% off skincare products.

SPEAKER_02

20% off all skincare products. I mean, it's and raffles. Oh my god. I just this is just the event of a lifetime. You do not want to miss it. All right, she's she's gone. All right, we'll take a bathroom break.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, Rachel's gone. She had to go to the bathroom.

SPEAKER_02

You guys have me all to yourselves. Or I have you all to myself. Whatever. Um, I'm gonna take this opportunity to tell you what I have going on. Um, so at the big event, uh Janice, she left, so you just have me now. Um, I'm gonna be doing um express color analysis. So you don't have to do the full, you know, hour and a half to two-hour appointment. Instead, I'm gonna be offering, I have three options, and of course you can do one, two, or three. Um, but one is to know your undertone. Are you cool? Are you warm? Are you neutral? Um, knowing your best color. So you you pick a color and we will determine which shade, tint, hue, what have you is best for your complexion. And lastly, uh what color metal of jewelry should you be wearing? Um, gold, rose gold, dark silver, light silver, uh, antique gold, you know, some of you are very married to a particular uh type of jewelry. And while I tell you that that's absolutely fine, just know that there might be one that's better. So I'll give you an example. Um, I want to shout out my handsome husband. Um, he's been wearing silver jewelry since pretty much day one. Um, I finally did his analysis, you know, getting a man to sit down in a chair for um an hour and a half long uh service. Um we determined that he is best in gold and specifically uh light gold and dark gold. And I just changed all of his like big pieces. He has a couple necklaces, um, he has a cough and a ring. And he it's like night and day. He looks, I I'm telling you, it's transformative. I'm gonna see if he will pose for me to sit. Um, I'll see if he wants to let me put his picture on Instagram, but I really would love uh for you guys to see a before and after of that because it's transformative. Um, okay, so that's what I have going on. I'm offering that at Exquisite. Um the following Friday, May 22nd, I'm gonna be at Blossom Med Spa. They are celebrating 10 years of business, and I'm gonna be there offering the same uh trio of services. Um, and then the other thing that's on the books is it's not until September, but September 12th and 13th. I'm gonna be at Grey Apple Market uh for their outdoor uh fall flea market. So I'm actually I'm still working on that um because I'm not sure how I'm gonna do it outside in a tent. I just thought I would uh share my events of what I'm doing for Exquisite while you were gone. So we're we're here. Rachel's back, she's here. I was just telling you about I was doing the gray apple market fall flea, but that's not till September. But I'm not sure how I'm gonna do that outside because that's gonna be a whole different experience. I'll be in a tent.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think you need lighting. I know you said you would need a lot apparently a lot of people use generators.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I know, because you have to supply your own um electrical supply, which But I don't think you need it. I think I'm gonna just see what happens. I don't think I'm gonna supply it. I don't think you said I'm gonna rely on rely on daylight. Which is best, anyways. Watch it be like storming. Well then if that's the case, then we're not doing it. I don't know. I'm not gonna worry about it. That is a fall problem, and it is only spring right now. Um anyway, but that's that's pretty much.

SPEAKER_00

No, our our biggest thing we have to worry about next is uh videoing.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah. You know what? Um I started researching on that, and I don't think well, it depends on who you ask. If you ask me, it's not that big of a deal.

SPEAKER_00

No, I don't think it's that big of a deal.

SPEAKER_02

Well, if you ask my husband, he is something different. So what we're gonna do is we're gonna put all of our thoughts together and see what happens how complicated it really is. I don't I don't think it is. It's gonna be fine, it's gonna be soon. We're still shooting for May. It might be mid to end, but it's it's still the goal is still May, okay? So that's that's something. Um no, I was telling the audience about how I got my husband to switch um his jewelry from silver to gold, and he is a freaking new person. I already told him I have to lock him away because he's so handsome, which is so funny. But um he uh yeah, he has made the the change and it looks really good. Mm-hmm. Really good. Um job well done to myself. Yeah. Yeah. Um, so I was thinking about doing something big. Really big. Okay. Okay. I was thinking about getting bangs. Getting a fringe. I know Rachel's face was like, um, what? So I've had the same hair, at least like the part and everything, for like twenty years. Mm-hmm. And I just need I need to do something.

SPEAKER_00

Um I feel like um Your forehead is too small for full bangs.

SPEAKER_02

Well, it wouldn't be like straight across a here look curtain. Chat GPT and I were playing around and it put bangs on me. And I didn't hate them. I didn't hate them, but it also cut my hair really short. I didn't really like that. And it also messed with my face a little bit. I don't actually look like that.

SPEAKER_00

No, you don't. But but I like I like the little the little zooms. That's whatever as long as they're angled and like you said, curtains.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, we wouldn't be doing a blunt no I know I don't have a face for that anyway. Or a forehead for that.

SPEAKER_00

I could do full bangs and I've done full bangs. You have a nice forehead. I have a big forehead.

SPEAKER_02

You have a five head, they call that, which sets me up. Yeah. Do not. You have a beautiful face and a beautiful forehead. So I do have bangs. But then we do you can handle them.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes. I don't have I've done full bangs. They're just too much work, full bangs, because you have to make sure you do them every day. That's the only thing that I'm like, oh, and now we're getting into summer. And if I sweat, I'm gonna have wet bangs. But if you're doing them to the side and you're not doing like full-fledged bangs, that's completely different. Here's the here's the other thing. I feel like I look like I'm a mom. Oh, okay. With full bangs. I understand. I understand that. I'm like, I'm not ready to be that old yet. I mean, I know I'm gonna be old this year, but I'm just not ready to be that old yet. And I love my mom, don't get me wrong. Um, I told her to get bangs a long time ago. I was like, if you don't get if you're not gonna do Botox, you need bangs.

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

Actually, that's pretty good advice. Yeah. So she did. And um it works well on her, even though she does not have a large forehead. I get my forehead from my dad, not from my mom. I wish I got a forehead from my mom because my little sister got my mom's forehead and it's much tinier. And I'm like, I really wish. Yeah, but your would look completely different. And I'd be okay with that. Normally, you know. But um, anyways, I I don't think they would be bad, and I don't think especially if you started I would start longer.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah, it's true.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think they would be bad for you. I just don't see full bangs. Like, no.

SPEAKER_02

I show me a good full bang on somebody, and I'd so I don't have enough hair to support a straight across blunt anyway, which is good. Yeah, but I see my issue is that I like my eyebrows and it would just cover them. Okay, okay. I don't know, everybody, what do you think? Get in the comments, should I do it? It's just bangs.

SPEAKER_00

I know. She bangs. I mean, why not?

SPEAKER_02

I that's how I feel. I feel like if I don't, I'm gonna die inside. I just I have I I've got the I've got the the urge, and now I need to just do the thing.

SPEAKER_00

Just do the thing, no. I know. I so I got my extensions put back in and I had had them out for a while, and she put them all back in, and I had slowly been taking them out, so like I had gotten used to my hair being thinner, and um Oh, so you went from it's like boom, they're all back. And I am actually struggling with how thick it is, and I feel like I look like all hair right now. I feel like I have a lot of hair and I just look like I I'm all hair.

SPEAKER_02

I don't think that's the case. Now you do have headphones on right now. I haven't really. I have not I've seen you a few times and I have not thought, wow, that is a lot of hair. I have not thought that. I see that your hair is fresh.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. That's all I've noticed. I feel like I'm just all hair. And I don't I don't I w I'm not gonna say I hate it, I don't love it. I just I'm indifferent about it right now, and I haven't decided. I think I'm probably gonna take some of the extensions out because I just think I need to, as it feels very bulky.

SPEAKER_02

Right. And I don't love that. Is that contributing to why you're not sleeping?

SPEAKER_00

No, it doesn't hurt. Okay. No.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_01

What feels best.

SPEAKER_00

So I'm gonna ask you a question. Okay. You know, something that some of my close friends we've been like talking about lately. This is making me excited. Are you one of those people who has five million friends and you talk to everybody? Or do you have like, let's say, a handful of close friends? And with that being said, does your your partner look at you and say, why don't you have more friends or you have too many friends?

SPEAKER_01

There's a lot here.

SPEAKER_00

Right, right. There's a lot here.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, um I have the handful of friends. Um, but I am extremely friendly and outgoing, and I love talking to people and getting their story, but you will never you will rarely hear mine. Um that's pretty much a a deflection that I do naturally. I also am just really interested in in people and I love hearing their stories. However, uh, yeah, I would say I have under under five. Okay. And even then, if I'm having an issue, I still won't call anybody. So I actually feel like I could do better. Um and I will talk to those people, but it's kind of reciprocal. We none of us want to inconvenience each other, even though that's probably what we need to do is actually talk about it. Um, my husband, he's I tell him everything. Um, but I don't think he's ever like said, why don't you have more friends or you have too many? It's never that. Um I think he and I are just very private people. So I still no one will really know everything, even though I'm an open book. It's a very, it's very complicated.

unknown

That's okay.

SPEAKER_02

Tell me more.

SPEAKER_00

What about you? So I growing up was always really I wouldn't say shy, I just I'm to myself. Like a lot of people think I think you had mentioned that your husband thought that I would be a different way.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he was very um um what what did he say? You were very reserved. And he was he was surprised by that. Probably because you're in the beauty industry, you're blonde, you're you know right. People would assume you're bubbly, and not to say you're not, but you're more reserved first. You have to warm up. I guess that's that's it.

SPEAKER_00

So um I I've kind of always been like that because people are very judgy. And we've talked about that before. Like people are judgy, people are very judgy. Even before I was in this industry, I remember going away to college, and it's like he would look at me before they even spoke to me, and they would perceive me in a way, and I'm like, I don't I don't think I'm like that. Right, you know, and it would always upset me because I'm a people pleaser. So it's it's a hard thing. So I didn't have tons of friends growing up. I was nice to everybody, I talked to everybody, I like everybody. Um, I wished my little sister, on the other hand, has a gazillion friends. Everyone is her friend. And she has the same group of friend of these seven girls since elementary school. Oh wow, okay. Like they're really tight, they get together several times throughout the year, they'll vacation together, like, you know, like good. Good, like I sometimes I wish I had that, but then again, you know, that comes with its own set of whatevers. Um right now I would say I have, you know, handful or under of people that I really, really trust. Um, because and here's where I um and I think we've kind of talked about this too, like the whole mean girl mentality. Um guys, you're not gonna like me saying this. Women are bitches. I mean, I get that I can be like that too, but usually if I'm having one of those days, I'm gonna be like, hey, I'm having a day. Like, um, I try to be as honest as I can be and um just be me and be authentically me. Um there's a lot of people that don't like that or don't appreciate it. Um, and then there's a lot of people that will pretend to be your friend. And this is the analogy I gave. They'll they'll give you tiny little paper cuts. And they'll just give you tiny little paper cuts, and then one day they turn around and they slice your throat.

SPEAKER_02

And that's it. I don't mean to laugh, but most aggressive.

SPEAKER_00

And it is aggressive.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And it comes out of nowhere, and you get these tiny little hits here and there, and you don't really think anything of it, because like I said, it's just a little paper cut. Like, yeah, they're annoying and they hurt, but they they heal real quick. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And if you're and if you're desperate for a friendship, you're very quick to forgive.

SPEAKER_00

Right. Even if it's not even I don't even think you need to be desperate if you're just one of those people that has a kind heart. Well, yeah or you know you mean like you know, and you don't like to hurt people and you like to help people or whatever, you just kind of you know Yeah, you just you just look the other way. Not even well, yeah, sometimes we do look the other way. You look the other way, or you think about it, and you're like, it's really not that bad. It's okay.

SPEAKER_02

Because you would never do it. Right. Because so you think, Oh, they didn't mean that. Well, yeah, they did. Yeah, they did. Yeah, they really did.

SPEAKER_00

So um, I have found that um and again, I keep being taught these things all the time. Unfortunately, it's something that I keep being reminded of is that just because you're kind and just because you want to treat people the way that you would want to be treated and um you would want to do the right thing doesn't mean that everybody else is going to. And it doesn't mean that everybody else is going to treat you the same or that um, that they're looking out for you.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. And I I that pun intended, that cuts deep. Yeah. Um, I do wonder why, and I'm gonna say we because it's not just you, why do we keep repeating the same um patterns? Because it happens time and time again, always a different person. Right. But so where where are we going wrong by trying to be the best possible human to others? It's a weird dance because you never wanna I don't want to change that about me. Right. I love that I love helping others. I love that I can be generous, I love generally I like people. Right. Um, but yeah, it still can end the same. And usually, and this is what we talked about. I don't even think we were in our our pre-show, we'll call it. Um, it's usually the people who have who have had this happen to them, they all become friends. Yeah. And then it's the greatest friendship, I th I think. Yeah. I because you know you're with an actual like-minded person, but it's how do you get there? How do you even get that person? Yeah. It's it's really hard. Now, are you are you trying to think now growing up? I was the exact opposite. I was always called a chatterbox. I talked to everybody, would not shut up.

SPEAKER_00

I would always talk to everybody, and the funny thing is that everybody always knew who I was. I didn't always know who they were. We talked to you. Yeah, like and I was like, okay, but I I didn't get in fights, I didn't go to parties. Same. I worked, I had a steady boyfriend.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so I'm even going younger. Take me to elementary school. I wanted everyone's old view. Uh no, but I wanted a a girlfriend. Like I didn't have to I had one. I had one, she was a bully, and my mom caught her like physically punching me in the face, and my mom like lost it.

SPEAKER_00

It was great. Mine wasn't that bad, but it was elementary school was great, and then we went to middle school, and it was like middle school is where everything kind of changed. Blows up, yeah. And um they started hanging out with people that I didn't necessarily love, and then kind of started pushing me to the side to get what they you know what I mean. So I was just kind of like and it and it made me sad, you know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, because it's you have to grieve that. Like someone picked someone else over you. Yeah, and it hurts.

SPEAKER_00

And I would you know, I was never the friend like you can only be friends with me. You can only you know, and I've had friends like that. Oh wow. It did not end well. I imagine not, yeah. And that's controlling on a whole other level. Yeah, it was it it just did not end well, and um I think that you beware of people that are like, Well, why aren't you ham only hanging out with me? Why are you going doing other things with other people? Like, you know what I mean? Like, you should be with me every weekend or you should be with me. Um constantly.

SPEAKER_02

It is there are um, you know, there are dating red flags, whatever. There are also friend red flags. Like the love bombing is not just applied to um intimate relationships. Like you can have a friend who immediately, oh my gosh, I feel like I've known you my entire life, and oh my gosh, we're gonna be best friends forever. No, no, unless I may have said that to one of my friends, but I meant it, and we're still friends, and that was like six years ago. Um, but I'm trying to think. I had that one, oh my god, I had like it should have been like a full house episode. I had a friend, and it was the classic, This cool girl was our neighbor, and she was older, and she was like, Hey guys, I have a cigarette. Do you want to try it? And I'm like, No, no, don't do it. And I like stormed off and thought my friend was gonna follow, and she's like, Well, maybe I'll try it behind the shed, and I'm like, No, this is terrible. And I like sat on the curb on the side of the street with my arms crossed next to my bike, and the soft music started playing. You know, and um, and then she comes back and I'm like, so, and she's like, Well, I tried it. I'm like, and the whole audience was like, Oh, and and I just felt so upset. And then what do you know? They rode away together in the sunset, they became friends, and I was just this nerdy loser, and I was, you know, I said no, guys. Yeah. I said no, and I suffered for it. I don't have any regret, obviously. Right. But it was a bummer. It was a real bummer, and I didn't get like my happy ending of like I was wrong and uh you're my best friend. No, I didn't get that. No. But that's okay. I'm I'm I think I'll I think I'm over it now. I think I was in fifth grade. Oh, fifth grade. That's a long time ago. Um but yeah, that was uh that was my full house moment. Or family matters. You know, do you pick you pick whatever sitcom from the early 90s suits you? Um I'm trying to think. Well let's name them. All right. We have oh also, okay. Were you a um god, what was was that ABC? What was Full House even on? Um Oh, I don't ABC CBS.

SPEAKER_00

I have no idea.

SPEAKER_02

One of those Cs. Yeah. Okay, so there was Full House, yeah, Family Matters. There's old ones like family ties. I mean, that's like that's before us.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_02

Um, they also had TGIF. Were you a Boy Meets World person? I loved Boy Meets World. I I don't e oh my gosh. I don't even know like what my favorite I don't know if I had a favorite. I also really loved the Brady Bunch. I know that was also like before our time.

SPEAKER_00

But I did like the Brady Bunch.

SPEAKER_02

I really enjoyed that. Um I was never a Disney person. We never we never had the Disney channel. So like Lizzie McGuire, that like didn't that didn't do it for me. Although, can I tell you Hillary Duff is so beautiful. She is. She is, I would like to know who is touching her face because they are doing dare I say the Lord's work. I mean, it is it is like perfection, and I'm really I just want to know. So if you guys know, Hilary, if you're listening, uh just let you know you can you can call me to hang out. Um yeah, I I've she is just like I I don't know. Oh, did you hear Ann Hathaway was voted like most beautiful woman in the world or something? Post probably alleged facelift, but you know, it's that's all it took was a lower facelift. Allegedly. Um but she does look good very refreshed. Yeah, she does. She looks really good, actually. Um not sure she needed anything, but you know, I'm sure we'll all say that about everyone who's doing things. We just secretly want them done. That's that's all that is. Um don't let uh don't let other people's opinions stop you from getting a thing. If you want to get a thing, go get it. Yeah, this is very true. Because there's a lot to be had, and yes, you can still love how you look, and you don't have to change drastically. You can just look like your younger self. I'm just saying. Or do nothing. That's also okay. But you know, let people do the thing that they want to do. It's fine. I'm looking at birds outside that are nesting in our porch.

SPEAKER_01

That's comforting. Rachel's on the phone.

SPEAKER_00

I'm trying to, yeah. Like someone uh I'm trying to act get access to somebody and um Access denied. It um keeps on popping up, and they're like, you have to do it within this amount of time. And I'm like, That sounds like a scam. No, no, no, it's it's not.

SPEAKER_02

All right, so speaking of non-sams, let me tell you guys about a Mother's Day giveaway that I'm doing while Rachel sorts yourself out over there. So it keeps popping. It's okay. You you do well, we are women of business. Okay, we're doing things. Um so anyway, so Saint is coming out with four new palettes, all with eyeshadows, like like quads, and then four new lip oils. Um I'm doing a Mother's Day giveaway. I'm gonna be giving away two of those palettes, each one having its own eyeshadow quad in it. I believe the giveaway starts today when you're hearing this, so go ahead and check it out on my Instagram. Um, but what you have to do to enter, I'm sure I'll have a post created by then, hopefully. Uh you have to like it. Tag uh it can be your mother, it can be your daughter, it can be someone who's like a mother. It doesn't have to be like a mother figure, you know, especially because some aren't even on Instagram. Um, but just tag someone that you think deserves to feel beautiful every day of the year.

unknown

Right?

SPEAKER_02

Yes. I love that. Um, but that person also has to like it. They have to follow me because that's real. And yeah, that's what you need to do to enter. But um, I'll have it, I'll have it all up. But I'm I'm pretty, I'm pretty excited. That is exciting. The new lip oils are like Are they? Oh my god. They're so like they finally did colors that already exist. Like they did nude black cherry, which is like my favorite. Um so they're just a little, it's like lip gloss, but a little nicer. Yeah, yeah. It's nice. And then they have um two others that are not in my palette, but I'll wear them anyway for the the photos that I'll show. But they're um I think one's Desert Sunset. And the other one I can't remember right now. But if you go to my page, you'll see it.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. So I gotta figure out a that's what I'm doing later today. I'm doing the the photo out for that. The things we do. But anyway, that's the big giveaway. I'm very excited. Um, Saint is doing a lot of new things. Uh, even like things that I would benefit from. They're having um their foundations are mostly neutral warm. Uh, they're releasing cool and neutral cool for foundation. Yeah. Um, so I'm very excited about that. I don't know when that will be, but I'm hoping it'll be at some point this year. Um, so that's a that's a big one. Um I think that's it. Is that okay? Is that is that all we have going on?

SPEAKER_00

Um, yeah. I mean, all the events that are coming up, we have a couple of events where we're going um to other places. So you have you have some events. Do you want to talk about that? Um, so I should write down the dates. We have one coming up on a Sunday. I think it's like May 2nd. We're going to um a salon in York um and collaborating with them, and we're gonna be offering Botox there. Um, we're going to one of my other um really good friends. Um, she owns a medspa also, um, and she is having her 10-year anniversary. So that's Blossom Med Spa. And then the one, the collab that you did is with Foiled Air Studios. So we're waiting on a date for that one.

SPEAKER_02

Great. So some more to come.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Maybe we'll know more even by next week. Maybe. Um, I think next week we're gonna do even, let's see. I'm looking at my notes. I think we're gonna do how to say no. Oh. And this is gonna be even for me, um, because I have a hard time saying no. Or or saying what actually needs to be said. And I think a lot of that has to do with we don't want to sound a certain way, especially as women. Men do not have this issue generally. Generally, they can just say what they need to say, and it's that's it. Women have to dance around it. We have this put lol at the end of the sentence, we have those feelings. Yeah, it's just a lot. And usually it then when you don't say no, the amount of work it takes after the fact to get out of it is just it's it's a lot. Yeah. So I have a couple of real life examples. I have um even a way to practice saying no. So stay tuned for that. Um, and then we'll probably, you know, balance it with life events.

SPEAKER_00

Well, yes, we'll bring up life events and then next time we're gonna talk about two like summer coming up, like um we'll talk about some treatments. Oh, good idea. Um we love it. For summer, or you know, if you're somebody who's like anti-treatments in the summer or whatever, um, we can just go over products that are appropriate. If you're somebody who um, you know, if you're not doing any kind of treatments in the summer, you don't have time to do facials, then it's a good time to invest in products um throughout the summer and make sure you're you're doing really good with your skincare products if you're not getting services. Um so we can go over those kinds of things. Great idea. And um you probably have to go, don't you? Yeah. I know. It's been real.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, we would have been done this a while ago if we would have uh we will never get back that there's 17 minutes that we're just iconic, but it's fine. Yeah, it's fine. Uh podcasting is a joy and a roller coaster, and sometimes it goes great and sometimes it doesn't. Just like life. Just yes. This has been the Beauty Files. Thanks for tuning in, and we'll see you next week. Yes, we'll see you next week.

SPEAKER_00

Case closed.
