SPEAKER_01

Okay, we're actually.

SPEAKER_00

It's working. Hi guys. How are you? I feel like it's been a minute. I don't know why my voice just kind of My voice has been uh coming and going today as well. And I don't know why. I think pollen. Y'all, does anybody have allergies? Is the pollen driving you nuts?

SPEAKER_01

I know it's driving my car nuts. It's like green. My car is green, but this is a different kind of green. And I'm not not the cute kind. Not the cute kind. Although pollen green, it is a very happy green, but it's it's not the vibe. It's it's not what I like. Yeah. It's in the spring palette. We'll go with that.

SPEAKER_00

It is, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Um, hi everyone. So it's uh yeah. You and I have not sat together in front of the mic for a bit. Yeah. So that's why it feels like long time, right?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it does. It feels like a hot minute has has passed by.

SPEAKER_01

A lot has happened and not happened, and this is a big episode because this is Mother's Day.

SPEAKER_00

It is. Well, there's a Mother's Day episode that is coming at you, and uh It's coming in hot. It's it's coming in hot, and guys, we did say that this was gonna be the men's episode, but we forgot. Well, it's not that we forgot. It's oh we forgot that it's Mother's Day. Yeah, we forgot that it was Mother's Day, and we kind of were like, eh, you know, we love you men, and uh But it's Mother's Day. But it's Mother's Day, so we have to represent for Mother's Day and we Yeah. We promise we're getting you the next Sunday. We promise, promise, promise. Um you can come for us if we don't. Okay, giving that kind of permission.

SPEAKER_01

Um yeah, it seemed it seemed um sinful, criminal, yeah, what have you to do. Especially since we're moms.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And then my birthday is the next day. And then you have a birthday coming up, and uh it's too much.

SPEAKER_01

All of it. I just heard a term. I'm gonna botch it because I don't actually remember what it is. It's like May Maycember. It's like May and December, you know, combined. But I guess it has to do with the busyness, which makes sense. End of the end of the year. I mean May is busy for me always anyway, because it's it's the hat trick. It's my is Mother's Day, my birthday, and then our wedding anniversary, all within the span of just like this five days. Yeah. Yeah. I mean last year my birthday was on Mother's Day, so it's you know.

SPEAKER_00

You're one of those, so um my daughter's birthday will fall on Father's Day. Uh some you know, so and my that's it. My little sister's birthday will sometimes fall on Father's Day. Oh wow. So, you know, birthdays are that close, that's cute. Do you guys do like a joint um celebration? No. Um my siblings and I are all within a week.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yes, we talked about those.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, because you're your parents are they're consistent. They are consistent. Not that I want to think about it, but yes, they are. It's true.

SPEAKER_01

See sex episode a few a few a few episodes ago. Um so we have uh it's funny. Normally we record on Sunday mornings. Correct um, but it's it's Friday night. It is Friday night. So our coffees are now not coffees. No. We have some better images of the adult kind. Um so it's it's festive. So it is festive. Here, should we cheers? Will that like come up on the oh, there we go. That was satisfying.

SPEAKER_00

That was very satisfying.

SPEAKER_01

I hope I hope that was satisfying for everyone because that was for us. Um if you in case anyone is wondering, it is vodka with it's called sparkling ice, it's like a zero calorie, zero all the things flavored uh fizzy water, I guess. And this flavor is black cherry. I like the black cherries. That was Rachel's selection. It's good, it's really good. Um, which is which is fun. Um, so yeah, so this is a different vibe. Or like fresh off of work. We both had work today. Um, like my uh my real job, like my actual like have to wear corporate stuff. It's a bummer. But and then I saw you today. We did my brows and my lashes.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. It was a work day uh for me also, um, along with uh taking the kids to appointments and it's it's been a week of appointments for me. I'm not sure if you feel that. Like this week has just been so many appointments that I've had to attend or get people to. Um not for me necessarily.

SPEAKER_01

I Okay, well, selfishly, I had lots of appointments and they were all for me. Yeah, a lot of them revolved you. Revolved, involved, revolved, whatever. Um evolved, all the words evolve. Um, yeah. And then I had let's see, I had a facial with you earlier in the week. I had my photo shoot, which I know I'll shut up about because I feel like I've talked to death about that on Instagram. Um, and then lashes and the tin today. And then I had a big stupid work event earlier today that was kind of I was kind of dreading today just because of that, because it was I had to be there at 7 30, and that's just that's gross. And you had to be at a doctor's appointment at 7 30.

SPEAKER_00

So you get it.

SPEAKER_01

So we had a a day. But it makes sense. I I feel like anytime it's like I don't know, I don't know if you do anything to celebrate Mother's Day, but just in general, it's like a week of I don't know, there's there's a a holiday or something on a weekend. It's like that that whole week prior is like I it's just so much stuff. Um, and then you had you want to vent a little bit about your IT? Um you wanna Yeah, I is that gonna be helpful too for you?

SPEAKER_00

You know, anytime you're trying to change things, add things, improve things, you have to go through a uh transition um per se. And you always hope that that transition can go smooth and there will be no bumps and no frustrations, and that has not been the case. Um and it's hopefully is gonna get better from here on out, and that's what I'm just gonna put that out there.

SPEAKER_01

So Rachel's eyes are closed as she's saying this.

SPEAKER_00

Um so that way it will come to fruition. Um We're gonna put that out there. We're just putting it out there on the positive note, like just kind of um, you know, making sure that everything will align and and Rachel's being very zen about this.

SPEAKER_01

She was not zen earlier, but I'm glad that you are.

SPEAKER_00

You know good progress. I have to just hope that it will resolve. I know I've I've talked about it, I've communicated, and hopefully that resonated and will come out to where it should be.

SPEAKER_01

Love this.

SPEAKER_00

So Love that. Um, you know, I I think that again we talk about evolving. Right? So um Oh reevolving. Re-evolving, evolving, all the things. All evolves. All evolves. That's what this episode's gonna be called. The volves. And we've been making I think both of us have been trying to make lots of changes. Um, whether that be at home, at work, in in life. And uh I just you know, I keep trying to say it's gonna be fine. It is. It is gonna be fine. It's gonna be fine because if if you don't, like I I don't know how you go forward.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Well, I yeah. I would rather take the steps forward than be like dragged forward. So I mean, and there are seasons like that too.

SPEAKER_00

But but it's not even like the thing is though, is that what we do, it's like it's not even like you're dragged forward because you are it, so if you don't push yourself and encourage everybody else to Then you don't go, you just then you go nowhere. That's true. And then that's when things can go bad. That's we're not even gonna talk about that. Shh shh shh. I'm just saying, that's why I said you're right. There's a fly in here.

SPEAKER_01

God. That's the well, that's not the only thing. That's one of the things I do not love.

SPEAKER_00

I don't like spiders, guys. Like you should have seen her earlier. It's really funny, actually.

SPEAKER_01

You know what? You know what? I hope we see one. So our basement is is a nice basement, okay? And it's it's very lovely. It was built like within five years, and everyone who follows me on Instagram knows that my gym had a spider uh infestation, in my opinion. I it wasn't a party, I can tell you that they were not wanted, but I had like lots of spiders. They've I think they just like me. They know you're scared. Oh they're coming for you. You know, I had like a um I don't even know what she was. She was a doctor, but I don't I wasn't like seeing her, but she she like caught on that I have a thing about bugs. Phobia? Mm-hmm. Yeah, that's probably the word. I I am I am willing to go that far. I think it it might be a phobia. I it's a phobia. You know, I was trying to explain this to my husband. The thought of spiders, like that word and phrase is like a constant in my brain. I will enter a room or open a door, and that is the first word that pops in my head.

SPEAKER_00

I think I have a problem. I think you do too, and I'm glad you should never move to like Arizona or where anywhere out there because they're big. They're they're very large.

SPEAKER_01

I don't want to, I don't I'm like looking for them now. Um anyway, this woman told me, she's like, you know, you get what you put out. Like she was kind of like telling me that I I like draw them to me just because I I put it out there. And I didn't like that because that meant that they read my mind. And I don't really care for that. She's looking around waiting for them to like climb up her arm. I don't like okay, okay. Alright, I'm gonna I wanna share a thought with all of you, okay? This is this is something that dawned on me a few years ago. They're called spiders because they spy on you. Okay. Think about this. They pay attention to what lights turn on outside and what doors you use and don't use, and that's how they figure out where they're gonna put their web. Mm-hmm. That's insane. That means they're literally watching. Do you have any eyes they have, too? I I know how many eyes they have. But the the fact that they're literally watching our behavior to know where to live. I it no really no one does that bother anyone other than me? That is disturbing, is what that is. Like you know, it also has a lot of eyes. Oh god, what flies. Oh yeah, flies are gross. They're gross. And that's what I was about to go on a tangent about because there's one flying around here.

SPEAKER_00

Flies are they're really gross, too. The webs we weave. The webs. The webs the spiders weave.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely awful. And one will show up during this podcast. Um, I thought you were gonna say, you know what has a lot of eyes is the AI mini me simulator that you shared with me on ChatGPT. Yeah. Which I will say, because you can't. Um, but please inform the audience of what's gonna be in our show notes, because it's adorable and kind of creepy, but not it's super cute.

SPEAKER_00

I was on chat just kind of looking through um Well they had an update. Their update that they did, and I honestly never paid attention. Like I if I'm being completely honest, I never really looked at it. You would always hear about people like, oh, you know, you would see those cute little memes, and people would be like, Oh yeah, chat, blah, blah, blah. So I go look at it and um they have one which is very inaccurate, I will say. Amy was Amy was a little upset about it, but they have a color analysis one.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man, it's so bad. It's not accurate. I'm really excited that it's bad though. Like, I'm honestly, I'll let you go on your thing. But I when I saw the update, I had like a because it was bad before. Yeah. And I was like, oh crap, that means they fixed things or whatever. And so I channel I I put it on my social media, but it was my mom's picture, and I was like so wrong. Like like it could not, it was so opposite. Right. I uh anyway, I feel really good about it. Yeah, so I was happy it was wrong. So don't use AI. Continue. So but you can use AI for what Rachel's about to say because it's funny.

SPEAKER_00

They had um there was one for uh like a photo shoot. There was another one for it was I think it says mini me. Like it's uh so it's a mini me one, and it was actually it's really cute, guys. If you want, you know, like I'm not big into the whole like memes and um I did that um the Barbie in the box one.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_00

A while when you did that. Remember, and that still like will pop up. That took forever. It was so like the amount of times that I had to do that drove me insane because I was like, just my picture is right there. Like, you don't need to alter my face like that. Just put me in a box, like it's not that hard. Um but this one was really actually cute. And um, they're like a bunch of little little people.

SPEAKER_01

It is a little weird, but it's it's okay.

SPEAKER_00

It's like a weird, cute thing, and I thought that it was very interesting. I will say I did it with two different pictures. Um the first picture was just like a headshot, and then the second one was a full body. I'm looking at them now, and you guys can look at them too. They're gonna be in the show notes. I'm telling you, it's it's kind of funny. Um, but the face is pretty much the same. So it was pretty they didn't alter it, they didn't make my face look super weird, which I was happy about because chat has a tendency to distort your face, and you're like, why do my lips look bumpy and large? Why does my forehead look orange?

SPEAKER_01

When I made our AI generated podcast, what are you doing? What is happening to you?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I'm having issues.

SPEAKER_01

She's having issues. Anyway, sorry about your ears, everyone, and mine. Um, she dropped a coaster. Well, that's stuck. I hate when that happens. Um when I made the AI um podcast picture, that was the most annoying. Annoying, frustrating. You look great every time. I I can't figure it out. It kept distorting I think it didn't touch me. That's why. Like I don't think it like altered me very much. Maybe it just knows me so I never wanted to I don't know. Anyway, I digress. Um so we're gonna put that in the show notes because it's it's cute. I'm trying to think like what it reminds me of. It's it's like creep, like they're like little elves. Yeah. They're 10 kilo elves for like a Santa, like just add a little like a Christmas card, and you have little Could you imagine if it was your whole family?

SPEAKER_00

I'm kinda hesitated. I'm like, oh I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

I don't I don't know. Well we'll get to that. Anyway, um, so that's something that you guys should try.

SPEAKER_00

Um it's just fun. Like if you were looking for something funny and like cute that you were like, huh.

SPEAKER_01

You know, honestly, it's like, you know what, they're building the data centers anyway. So you may as well just use it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Use it and be like, well, we're we're sucking up water daily, so why not?

SPEAKER_01

I don't I don't understand how that works.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like it heats so much. So like those you have to think about like how hot um a system would get in a small area in a confined area. So it's a cooling thing, so it's like the water, yeah. It's like the whole, you know, like IT, so that's why um they're opening up uh what is it, TMI? Uh close yeah. Yes. So they're opening that up, but like again, that's rape by the water. So water Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You know, it's all just it's it's a real bummer if you actually think about it. It's like I don't know. I I go back and forth on AI because like well, here's the thing.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Alright. So since this is just kind of like a random one, we're not really talking to you. We do have we do have some a takeaway from moms at the end.

SPEAKER_01

But go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

We do. Um, so as you all know, I don't know if a lot of you I don't know if anybody flies Spirit, unfortunately, that happened. Um, but one of the other things that I saw, and it kind of brought me back to my childhood, and anybody that is roughly our age will remember this, the Jetsons. Oh, yeah. So I forget what airport this is at, but they made like a a mini flying cab, pretty much, as a yeah. Um I don't know if it was I think it was literally around here. Um, and it it's small, but it's like a little taxi. A little taxi that'll fly you. Um there's only like um two of them, I think that they've made so far to kind of like try it out. But it reminded me, I was like, oh my gosh, the Jetsons is coming to life. Here we go. Here's the start of it. Like, not only do we have the Tesla, um, but now like cars that are gonna drive for us, now the Jetsons has come to life. And it literally looks very similar to a certain extent. Okay, yeah, it says Joby Aviation.

SPEAKER_01

So this is in New York City. Yeah. Jetson style concept into reality. Seven-minute flights between JFK and Manhattan. Wow. It's a four passenger It's tiny. Zero admission aircraft. Wow. Designed for quiet urban travel. Right. Wow.

SPEAKER_00

Jetsons now now. Here's my question. Do you have to actually have a pilot's license? I didn't fly.

SPEAKER_01

Hope so.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my. Although, you know what? I didn't look into that. Um, I just saw that that was a thing and that it was actually pretty close to us, and it made me feel a little scared.

SPEAKER_01

I will say the good news is that they're going to start out at $150,000. Yeah. So that's cool. That's gonna be out of reach for some. Um now I will say too, that doesn't mean that you can't finance it because that's no different than an expensive car. Oh, jeez, I hate this. I hate this.

SPEAKER_00

So, y'all, all those kids shows. Uh no. Then all, you know, and here's the other thing. Don't listen. You're probably gonna think I'm cray cray, but that's okay. E.T. We've been hearing a lot about the extraterrestrial stuff going on, like the whole um which blue beam. Yeah. Okay, go ahead. Um, you know, we're seeing we're seeing ships or whatever out in the abyss.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So um UFOs, who knows? It's we're all we're in it. So um in it. I'm just saying, these shows that we saw as kids, um are coming to life. They're they're they're coming at it. They're coming at you.

SPEAKER_01

Well, okay, so another conspiracy corner just for a moment. Um so I won't go uh we're gonna go surface, okay? Surface conspiracy because because um they say they say that anything that is shown to you on television is predictive programming. So it's basically they're just telling you what is to come. Now the the Jetsons is an interesting one because I feel like that has yet to really no one's really making those connections, which which is interesting.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, that was the first thing I thought of. The very first thing. And the Robots. Well, yeah, exactly. It was like I w we watched this growing up, and you're like, whoa, and and then, you know, slowly AI, again, we're talking about like chat and stuff like that. But, you know, their house, the Jetsons house, like it had a lot of those features. The the Jetsons was more in the 19, you know, eighties, nineties, and maybe even older than that. Um, that I don't know how when that was created, but um I'll find out. Again, that was something in The Simpsons. So they always say if you watch The Simpsons, that's a conspiracy that you know everything that's in The Simpsons is pre-thought, like pre-planned, like it's gonna happen. And I will say, if any of you have ever paid attention to The Simpsons, it's a pretty accurate thing. There are lots of things that they predicted years and years before it even happened on The Simpsons.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so just so everyone knows the Jetsons aired uh 1962. Okay. And final episode was 1987.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, right after I was born.

SPEAKER_01

This is even more interesting. The setting was 2062. So that's interesting. We are way before 2062. Yes, but I feel like we're on the path for 2062 for it to actually look like.

SPEAKER_00

I think it's gonna happen before that.

SPEAKER_01

You know, Jane Jetson was pretty attractive.

SPEAKER_00

So you were in New York, right? It's pretty attractive. I see nothing. No, you don't. You're right. She's a pretty red. She was cute. Wow. Yes, I was.

SPEAKER_01

I was just in New York.

SPEAKER_00

So I heard um did you see any robots in New York or any places like that? Like up there, did you see anything? So I had a friend that went to Boston, and I guess they had a this strip that was like of like premium like stores and everything, and Tesla. Yeah, there was a small Tesla spot and there was a robot outside. So was there one in New York?

SPEAKER_01

Not in New York, but when we went to King of Prussia, oh okay, they had a robot inside of the Tesla store.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so listen, Jetsons is here. It's here.

SPEAKER_01

We're here, y'all. No one knows this, but we had to take a brief break for a second, and I was taking note at what time we had to pause the podcast, and it was at 1928.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And we know the joke. Oh, that was a good year, huh? Yeah. Which I made. Um, I did make that joke. Oh, she absolutely did.

SPEAKER_00

But then that got us talking of like, oh, can't we just go go back to 1928? Back to that. How many of you would love to just travel back in time and see see what it was like without all of this? And would you stay?

SPEAKER_01

Because there is a trade-off, okay? There are no lashes, there is no hair, like you know You would actually have to see your real self. You'd have to see your real self and wear the things like that. I'm trying to think what the fashion was in 20. I almost said 2028. Oh, that's like soon. That's gross. Um, 1928. Yeah. Which was okay, almost a hundred years ago. Right. Oh my god. So like Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It's like May Day. Did you ever wear any of the outfits like that you had to wear May Day? Like the pilgrim shows.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, like the pilgrimage. Okay, it is not like that. Okay, it is. But it is a little bit like that. But like 1928 fashion.

SPEAKER_00

The clothing that they wore was all like dresses and lacey and well, hang on.

SPEAKER_01

Hang on, no. Because well, think about it. That's prohibition. How long did prohibition last? Because that's like flappers. Yeah. Oh my god, can we drink? Yeah. Alright, Lemon. How I need to know this. How long? Because this is the answer.

SPEAKER_00

We're gonna try we're gonna tie we're gonna figure out how to time travel. That's next, because Amy and I are just No!

SPEAKER_01

No. Okay, it was 13 years, 1920 to 1933. So we can't go back 1928 because we be we be we're in a speakeasy right now. Oh. Which is funny because that is the vibe of this basement. But where we have our drinks, we're in a basement, and if we are actually in 1928, it is illegal. That's yeah. Yeah, we see we can't do that.

SPEAKER_00

We can't go back and we should go to a speakeasy. I love speakeasies.

SPEAKER_01

I think I would probably own one if I if I had to.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. As long as you can get in trouble back then, right?

SPEAKER_01

If you could go back then, I think it's easier to get away with things for sure. Oh, okay. Alright. Well, that was a tangent that no one asked for. No. Um sorry. Anyway, um, okay, I have other things. Oh, okay. So we there's a point to this podcast today, because it's Mother's Day. And you know, moms just rant when we get together, so it's true, and that that was the idea of this particular um episode was um just us in general. Moms talking and just being real. Being real. So I even didn't even want to put it on us to come up with ideas. I thought AI should do it for us, and I thought we could judge AI to see how well it even knows us as people and as women. So I I want you to do the same prompt. Okay. Prompt, and I want you to we're gonna compare answers. Okay. So I want you to type in list five things women can start doing to put themselves first. Did it list five things? It did. Okay, so should we go we'll see what mine says, see what yours says? Okay. So my my top one, number one, is stop treating rest like a reward.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

And I did need to hear that, because I am I'm pretty famous for that. I don't sit, I don't do anything until everything is done and off my to-do list.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

How about you?

SPEAKER_00

So my number one, it says stop apologizing for having needs.

SPEAKER_01

Oh. I mean, okay. Now do you wonder if it's taking us into consideration?

SPEAKER_00

I maybe because it definitely I think it knows this about me. Oh, this is interesting. It says like putting yourself first um means realizing your rest, your boundaries, time alone, hobbies, health, and goals. This is all under selfish. This is all under number one. This is all under number one. Okay. Yeah. Okay. So it's all under it's all under the stop posit apologizing for having needs. Because it says like they're necessary.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so mine about the rest and reward is you do not have to earn downtime by being exhausted first. Schedule rest the same way you schedule appointments, errands, and everyone else's needs. And I hate that because I don't think I could do that.

SPEAKER_00

That's that's really hard.

SPEAKER_01

Schedule rest.

SPEAKER_00

I that gives me the it's like scheduling a timeout.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Which is funny because scheduling sex was one of our like Yeah. That was a recommendation. You did say that that was a recommendation, but but that's different because sex at least you're doing something.

SPEAKER_00

Well, and it's not benefiting other people. I mean that's true. There's a benefit to it. I guess there's a benefit to rest. I mean, sometimes it can benefit two people, not always. I mean I guess that can go very a lot of ways.

SPEAKER_01

Oh man. Okay. So what's your number two? Alright, my number two. Okay. Um, this is interesting because I shared with Rachel my answers before doing this. So I don't actually know what hers says, but she knows what mine says. Um, and this number two, I don't think you agreed with, but I did. And that is to buy for the life you actually live. So it says, not the fantasy version, like, you know, your $150 million plane or whatever. Um, it's flattering jeans or the skincare that makes mornings easier. See, it does know me. Yeah. The supportive shoes.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, listen, there can be some really cute supportive shoes. Some. Like I think mine are cute. They are. Are they supposed to be?

SPEAKER_01

I mean I I love those shoes. Um, okay, tiny daily upgrades create more confidence than saving things for someday. Now, I really do, I really do agree with this. Um, and again, like it did say, not the fantasy version, but I've heard time and time again, like, I'll get a color analysis just as an example when I lose 10 pounds. Because so that when I buy all new things, it's like, shut up, just buy the do the thing. Do the thing and just start enjoying yourself. Like, why? It's it's almost like number one. Yeah. Stop treating rest like a reward. Stop not living in the present because you haven't earned it yet. I'm sensing a thread here. I like this.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, how about yours? Okay, create non-negotiable personal time every week. So it says even one to two hours that belong only to you can completely change your mindset. No work, no kids, no errands, no answering, everyone's text. Use it for things that refill you. Workouts, skincare, reading, kayaking, shopping, podcast, quiet coffee, anything that makes you feel like you again. Okay. How did it say the frequency? How often to do that? It says one to two hours. I I'm assuming weekly, but it doesn't say daily seems impressive. Yeah, it says every week. Sometime every week. So one to two hours, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Which obviously doesn't have to be one to two hour chunks. Right. It can be dispersed throughout. Yeah. I mean, I I like that. I think I do that.

SPEAKER_00

I think like so for for me, and you may feel this, I think we kind of feel the same way. Like, doing this podcast is kind of something that Amy and I have wanted to do, just not done, and it's a time to like We are actually prioritizing this. Prioritizing it and like making it something. And we do hope that, you know, many of you will follow us and that, you know, we'll get a lot more followers and it'll become bigger, better. Um, but it's also an outlet for us, and it's trying to I don't think either of us really have like quote unquote a hobby. So it's kind of it's kind of for me, I guess it would kind of be like a hobby. It's something, you know, that we're doing um besides work, besides kids, besides regular appointments. Like it's something else that we have put energy and thought into, um, and that we're doing regularly. It is funny because it is technically work, but it's not.

SPEAKER_01

But it's not. It's not. It is an it's like a a it's well, yeah, if we're we're holding ourselves accountable to do a thing. Okay, I I sign off on that. I like that. Okay, number three. Now this goes back into our last episode. Say, let me get back to you before automatically saying yes. People pleasing thrives on urgency. Giving yourself pause creates space to ask, do I actually want to do this? And it's not wrong, obviously. I we just had a whole podcast about this. Yeah. Okay. I mean, that's kind of boring. All right, can what's yours? Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Um, protect your energy instead of constantly managing everybody else's emotions. So it says you don't need to have every problem or fix for every problem, um, clean every conflict or calm every conflict or carry every emotional burden. Start asking, do I actually have the capacity for this today? And am I helping or am I overextending myself again?

SPEAKER_01

I feel like these are very similar.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Even the ask, do I blankety blank blank blank? I again, it's not it's almost like well, duh. But yeah, okay. Like show me a person who's not. I mean, I'm definitely better at it. Um, okay. Well that was that was what are the what are the what's the trendy thing? Or at least it was trendy a few years ago. Low-hanging fruit. I hated that expression so much. I still hate it actually. And I just used it. Okay. Um number four. I don't I don't care for this one. I I don't know. It's no different than number two, but it's take yourself seriously before others do. Uh okay. I it's fine. It's invest in your health, goals, appearance, business, hobbies, education, whatever matters to you. Uh women are often taught to minimize their wants until they become convenient for everyone else. I don't know. That one's just kind of meh.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, well, you're you're gonna meh mine too. Okay. So, okay, my number four is invest in yourself the same way you invest in others. Women will spend money, time, and effort elevating everyone around them while neglecting their own growth. Start investing in your appearance if it makes you feel confident, your business or career, therapy or coaching, health and fitness, education, hobbies, and passion. The return of investment in yourself is huge. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

I like that one better than mine. And I think I already do that.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I and you are you are pretty good at that. Yeah. I, on the other hand, you could do better. I could do better.

SPEAKER_01

There's room for improvement. Always. So what do you feel called out at on that? Like, what do you think you could actually do better? What aren't you doing other than the gym? Because we already know. We already know we don't do that. And I'm not doing that either. My hips like hurt.

SPEAKER_00

Like I was getting her steps in today because so we we had to bring the computer down, and then the computer needed plugged in while the charger was upstairs. So she had to go up two flights, and then she came back down, and then she didn't bring the mouse down. So we'd go up again, and then And then the vodka was in another building. So then we had to go up a flight of steps and outside up a couple of steps and then back down.

SPEAKER_01

When I tell you that I was winded, like I'm ashamed. I really I'm really embarrassed. I have not worked out since January for a slew of reasons, but I drive a lot and I'm noticing like my hip flexors.

SPEAKER_00

It's your sciatic uh probably and all of the things you need adjusted and I mean it's it's bad. It's really bad.

SPEAKER_01

I need I need to pr I need to I need to create a habit of what do they call that habit stacking. So maybe like before we podcast. We do some squats. We need to do some squats. I mean, I definitely will never do a burpee in my life. Look, if you don't like to do burpees, we've we talked about this on like episode two. Don't do them. Do something that you actually want to do. You know what?

SPEAKER_00

We'll do we'll play um uh what's the game on the floor? Twister. Well please don't start.

SPEAKER_01

That's like yoga, right? Oh my god. Okay, okay. Anyway, okay.

SPEAKER_00

So I You didn't answer the question.

SPEAKER_01

What can you do better? What what's what what do you see there that you're like, ooh?

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I feel like I do try to keep up with my appearance.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I think you're pretty you're pretty okay on that.

SPEAKER_00

Um Yeah, so you have nice hair, you have nice lashes, therapy and coaching. Um I mean Oh well that's yeah. I I feel like I do therapy every day with clients. I do. And I honestly love it.

SPEAKER_01

I did oh my god, how many times have we had to repeat ourselves, you guys? We said this on a podcast. Yeah. Get a therapist by booking at Exquisite.

SPEAKER_00

I I I mean, I I truly love it. And we actually have therapists that are right next door. So if you were yeah, they moved in right next door. So if you're really quiet and we turned everything off, we could get therapy through the world.

SPEAKER_01

I did hear voices today that I don't remember hearing. Is that what that was? Yes. Oh, there's some tea to be had there. Yeah. Okay, I love that. Um I mean, I hope you don't go next door. We're not eavesdropping, I promise. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Um education. I I am doing a class online, so I am trying. I think you just saw the gym and you're like, ugh, I don't do that. Um, hobbies and passions. Um, you know, again, we're doing this. This is something that I really enjoy. I don't feel like it's work, even though I guess some people There's stuff to do. There's stuff to do, but it doesn't feel like it's like it's fun work, it doesn't feel like in my face. One thing that I do know I need to do, and I haven't done, and we've talked about this before, is on Instagram and like putting myself out there. That's and and so that feels like Yeah. So it's we so I need to work on that. So I would say like that's something for me. Um Okay, that's that's fair.

SPEAKER_01

Alright, well that's not as bad. Okay, let's go are we on number five? Yeah. Okay, my last one is you you just said this, so it's repeating itself. It was create one ritual that belongs to only you. Morning coffee alone, evening walks, reading before bed, Sunday skincare. Swear. Okay. AI with alliteration cracks me up. And we're not doing just Sunday skincare. Any that's daily. Oh yeah. See, AI doesn't have skin, everyone. Do not get skin advice from AI because it doesn't have skin. It doesn't know. Uh a gym class, something small that reminds you your identity exists outside of whatever you provide for other people. Okay. So, okay. I mean, I guess that's basically all the same.

SPEAKER_00

Go ahead. What's your number five? Stop waiting until burnout to deserve care. Okay. Okay. So you don't have to earn rest by being exhausted first, eat before you're starving, sleep before you crash, take breaks between um your your recent everyone, um, speak up before you explode. The healthiest version of you is a proactive, not surviving in recovery mode.

SPEAKER_01

I think that can be I I like the examples, but I think that simply put is being present in your body. Yeah. Which is what does that mean exactly? Well, that's what that means. Um, I am not good at that as of late. I feel like I know all the things I need to be doing, even down to drinking water, and I'm like not. I'll be like parched, like super thirsty. And I still won't drink water. And that's not like me. So I'm not sure what is happening. I'm like rebelling on everything.

SPEAKER_00

I think our brains are just so fried in hyper mode too. And I think that when you overextend yourself and you have a lot going on, everything else becomes a chore, and it seems like doing it is just exhausting. So we're just gonna let it go. I think I think you nailed it. Yeah, actually. Like at work, if I'm just go, go, go, go, go, and people do you take a lunch? Like, no? Like, what do you mean food? I can't stop, I'm in a zone. I can't stop, I'm in a zone. Like, water? What? What's water? It's it's true. How does it the bathroom? And like I think until it like absolutely hits you. And you know, I've gotten to points where um, you know, I'm working, working, working, and I'm like, oh my gosh, if I don't drink some water, like I'm not gonna make it. Or man, I feel really lightheaded. I really should go eat something. Um and unfortunately, my my personal body is very, very used to that lifestyle. So um it, you know, I know that there's a lot of people out there that are on like the GLP ones and stuff like that. So, you know, like, oh, are you you I that's just me. Yeah, that is just me. And if I'm in the zone and I'm like, man, I gotta get this done, like I'm gonna get it done. And everything else is just it's like I have on um blinders. Blinders that, you know, all I see is what's in front of me, and everything else just seems like too much. So why do I? I just need to do what I gotta do. I yes. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Yeah, I that's not a good thing either. It's not a good thing. I need to remember that because I'm a very like driven person in terms of I need to be doing, doing, doing. And if I'm not, I can't I mean, yeah, I feel pretty called out on that list. I don't really like that. Yeah. Some of the list I I do. Um Yeah, and this isn't by the way, ladies, this isn't just another list of things we need to do. This it's it is kinda ironic that it just put this in list form. Yeah. Like here's here are more ways you're failing. I guess what we really want to say is that you guys are doing great.

SPEAKER_00

You guys are doing great. And okay, so let me ask you a random question. Okay. Did you have any special interaction, weird interaction, or fun interaction this week with your child?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, this is a weird question.

SPEAKER_00

It is a weird question. Uh over those fun, so weird.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Special, fun or weird.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Uh we're all three. I'm thinking. I mean, I have a lot of interactions with my child. I'm just trying to. I'm sure. That's what I mean. Well, I'll say I'll do the the most obvious one. We went to New York City over the weekend. Um, her first time. And it was hilarious because she, I mean, we're talking like death grip on my hand because it was so overstimulating. It was a lot, and everything. It was just so funny watching something so uh an environment that was so vastly different than what she's used to, just hit her all at once because that's that's it. You open the Uber, boom, you're there. Um, which I do recommend, by the way. We uh drove to the New Jersey park and ride and then Ubered into the city, and it was so very stress-free. I I recommend that. Um and it was funny because I I watched her like throughout the day. It actually took the very next day because we stayed the night. Next day she was more calm, more like, okay. But I so I asked her, I'm like, so what was your favorite thing? She goes, I hate New York City. And I was like, really? And she goes, Well, I don't hate it, but I I didn't like it. I'm like, that's that's fair. Like, that's I get it, you know. But she loved, obviously. Went to the Nintendo store, FAO Schwartz, which was the uh most over stimulating place I think I've ever been to in my entire life. Um, I've never been there before, the toy store. And I I I don't even I didn't need like air, it's it needs to be treated like IKEA. We need arrows on where to go. It was so if you've never been, I don't I mean, go on like a Tuesday afternoon. Like don't go on a Saturday. That was mistake number one. Um but her but but okay, so we went up there because we saw um a Broadway show her first time. It was called the the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child or whatever. But seeing, I don't know, just watching her watch a thing was just really like endearing. Like just what watching someone watch something for the first time, and and I don't I'd never seen that play, I just mean in general, like a Broadway show. Yeah, it was just really was magical. Yeah. How about you?

SPEAKER_00

Um, I would say, you know, I think that all moms are very special and unique, and I understand why um we should have a special day. Um because more times than not, I think that we all deal with um a lot of frustrating moments or a lot of moments when you sit here and we're trying to tell our kids, like, please listen to what I'm telling you. Because I promise you I know better. I promise you, I'm not telling you this just to tell you. Right. Um there's a reason behind it. Um and I will say one moment that I had um actually happened last night with my son. Um, we got in the car and I asked him how his day was, and we were, you know, he was talking about his math test. So he's had several math finals, not just a test, but finals. And he had told me about his first one earlier in the week. And I specifically said to him, he's like, I I I did good, mom. I did good. And I said, Okay, what'd you get? An 83. I said, so you didn't understand all the material. What do you mean? I got an 83. If you understood all the material and you knew exactly what was happening, you would have gotten 100%. And then I told him, When you go to school tomorrow, you need to ask your teacher. You need to look at your test, you need to understand what you did wrong, and you need to ask your teacher because clearly you did not understand the full test. You don't understand all the material. No, mom, I'm fine. It's fine. I don't need to, it's good. I understood it. I said, but you didn't get 100%. It's fine, Mom. Okay. So he gets in the car, and this is yesterday. And he said to me, So I gotta tell you something, Mom. I was like, Yeah. He's like, um, there's three parts of the test. Oh yeah? Okay. Well, how'd you do on the second part? Well, I think you were right. I said, What do you mean? I you think I was right. Well, I clearly didn't understand all the material. Oh no. I said, what does that mean? He said, I got a 63% on the second part. I said, Oh. Nice. Okay. I said, so when I told you that you didn't understand all the material on the first part of it, and I encouraged you to go to your teacher, okay, I got it. I understood the assignment. I said, and you didn't get the assignment right. So I'm trying to encourage you to advocate for yourself. Right. He's like, Yeah, I saw that. And he goes, but I did really good on my next one. I said, So does that mean you went to your teacher? No, mom. I studied. Oh I said, Did you get your grade back for that one yet? No, I didn't, but mom, I I know, but I can feel it. Oh my god. I did so good. And I just looked at him. You know, I'm driving and I look over at him and I go, I really hope so. Because those two scores together are not great. I said, and if you get another really not good score, that final is gonna be really bad. Yeah. And then your final grade, when you've had A's pretty much all year, is not gonna be great.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And he goes, Well, my teacher encouraged me to do honors algebra. And I said, So you know what that means? And he said, if I don't get 100%, I need to ask for help. I said, Yep. Oh my god, that's so funny.

SPEAKER_01

We have opposite households. Like I'm I have zero uh I don't okay. I don't expect 100%. I don't even expect an A. I just expect your best effort. Which I know you do too. But we're not um I know what he's capable of. Yes, and I totally use for him where it's at, yeah. And honestly, some kids need to hear that you expect A's. I know that sounds ridiculous, but kid, some there are not all children are the same. Yeah. Some need that pressure.

SPEAKER_00

It's almost like accountability. Yeah. I mean, it's And he does. I think he he does, and but I I'm not looking forward to next year because I still do have to check.

SPEAKER_01

So I'm only specifying that because um I don't want people to like think that you're this, you know, slave driver at home. No, absolutely. No, all children are different. Yeah. And some need to know that you expect 100 because that means you know that they are capable of that. It's like a a weird um confidence boosting thing. Now, my child, that's too much pressure. Yeah, she couldn't handle that. She does well when there's no pressure. So if you are real chill and you're like, hey, you know what, I just want your best effort, you're gonna get their best effort, and then it's so you know he, you know, and I think I don't know if we talked about this, um, up until fifth grade, he was pretty much failing.

SPEAKER_00

And that had a lot more to do with his attention and you know, we had to get him on meds. The second that started and he could actually focus and honestly like hear what was being said to him and whole different child. It was he without me saying anything, he was an A student. With I didn't even have to say anything. Wow. So I know what he is capable of, it's just he's lazy. Well and that that irritates me because I'm like stopping he's 13, he'll be 14. And he's going to high school, and I told him, I said, It's only getting harder, dude. So that is why I'm encouraging you to advocate for yourself because I don't want to have these conversations with you every day. Yes. And he also doesn't know what he wants to do with his life, so that's why I keep encouraging him. Like, try everyone. You have to do well because you don't know where you want to be.

SPEAKER_01

Actually, I might have to take that one. That's um, so to all the moms out there, you just heard it here, in that you have to do what's best for your own child. Don't compare, don't look at all the fake phony moms on Instagram, because I guarantee you they're hired children, they're paid actors in a rented house in LA.

SPEAKER_00

Or they're miserable and just putting it out.

SPEAKER_01

Or they're miserable and they're just, you know, fake content. I I just, you know, nothing is real anymore. Well, I shouldn't say that. I feel like I'm I'm trying to get out there and do real. Yeah. Um, but we're real. We just yes, we are. Um I just, you know, I speak for myself. I had a really I don't want to say rough, that is not the right word, but I was feeling some sort of way these past two weeks. I was telling Rachel out there, I was I fell into the comparison trap, and boy, it's lonely down there, and it's really hard to call yourself out. Um, it is possible, but I just don't stay down there because it it's not fun. It's more fun out of the trap and just embrace imperfection, and we're gonna mess our kids up.

SPEAKER_00

We are, unfortunately.

SPEAKER_01

It's kind of a thing. Like you're likely messed up from your parents, and your parents are likely messed up from theirs. It's just it's part of life. It's part of life, it is there's no escaping it, and I'll drink to that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So happy Mother's Day. You are doing a great job, unless you're not, and you really need to check yourself, but I guarantee you probably are doing a great job.

SPEAKER_00

You're probably doing a great job. And even though your kids may turn around and tell you they hate you and they hate their life and all those other things, just know that we did it too. And it's not true. They're just frustrated, and unfortunately, we are their safe place. So just remember that. Yeah, the worse your kids are to you, that means they feel yeah, exactly. The more they love you, and the more they feel safe with you, and they know that no matter what, you're not gonna push them away. So just there's a little speaking of children.

SPEAKER_01

So we gotta go. And Happy Mother's Day, Happy Mother's Day.
