SPEAKER_01

Oh, I like that. We might have to keep that in. Can anyone hear that? Is that like yes? Is that the ASMR? No, yeah, ASMR.

SPEAKER_02

I always want to say the wrong letters. Hey! Welcome to the beauty files. Uh Rachel, I'm with the lovely Rachel. And I'm with the lovely Amy. Hi. Hi. She zipped up her her hoodie and it was it was really satisfying to hear. I hope I hope it came through. We were having a really long coffee chat, and then we realized we were not recording. So now we are. Yes. And now we're out of things to say. So we'll we'll see you guys next week. And uh thanks for hanging out. I'm just kidding. So I was just telling you off mic that I saw two people recently and they had no idea we had a podcast. So we are not doing a good job in promoting, which we're already bad at anyway. Um I'd have a hard time. Anyway, we are not really not good at promoting ourselves, and I don't know what personality type is good at that, because there are those people that can just get on over and over and over again on Instagram and like just repeat the same thing. And I find that exhausting.

SPEAKER_00

I find that I'm not on Instagram, so that's okay.

SPEAKER_02

You know, I've been I've been Oh, that's that's a little announcement if you haven't noticed. Um I finally did the thing. I put Instagram on my phone for the the beauty files. So I will be we will be a little more active on there. At least I will.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like I I mean, I don't know. The beauty files, it doesn't what pops up when you look at the beauty files.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, like um in your short like in the algorithm or the R R thing. It's um it's like just well, everything that'll probably trigger you. It's all med spa crap.

SPEAKER_00

Is it non-triggering? Because if it's non-triggering, I could get on it. I would I'd have to let you tell me.

SPEAKER_02

I don't find it upsetting. Yeah. But then again, I'm just in a week where I feel good about Instagram. Like next week will be totally different. I'm noticing that it really is just with my like cycle of of how I feel when I want to show up. Yeah, it's it's really it's really insane. It's really insane.

SPEAKER_00

Like podcast, if we could just stay in like podcast world and y'all would just know and you didn't have to rely on Instagram or Facebook or whatever else. Um you know, platform like the X, which was Twitter. Oh yeah. It doesn't trigger me. Oh, interesting. It doesn't trigger me. I think it's more I think there's a lot more political stuff on there.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, and we talked about this in a previous episode. You're not just bothered by politics, which isn't bother me. Which is odd.

SPEAKER_00

Um you know, or like news stuff, like it just doesn't No, I can't with news. I you know, I look at I look at news and I'm like, I take that with a grain of salt. It's kinda like you kind of have to weed through it, you know what I mean? So, um I d I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

Well, it's probably along the lines of you like the uh true crime. I love true crime. So that's probably why it doesn't bother you because it's essentially a true crime episode because we've learned time and time again that the news is just another business. They have to keep it high cortisol, stressful, and tweak it just a little bit. That's what I'm saying. It doesn't stress you stresses me. I can't do that.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, Instagram just I don't know. I don't know if maybe it's because you know a lot of those people personally were like news stuff, but you don't really know those people necessarily. Or I hope. I hope that you don't know a lot of those people. Let me rephrase that because there are certain articles and things that you read and it's like oh god, I hope I don't know this person. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um now that's an interesting take. I actually never considered that the people you on Instagram you know.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um I don't like Instagram personally, and it's not even that I know, it's the people who are doing the same things that I'm doing, and I see them doing it better. Yep. Um I s I can only assume they're using a filter. I just I cannot imagine someone's skin always looking that perfect. It's really upsetting. It's really upsetting. It's it's false advertising.

SPEAKER_00

Well, it is, and I I don't know. I have a hard time with that, and I have a hard time with um the other thing I will say is a lot of the pictures and things that are put up, guys, are people that are specifically chosen based off of their looks. That's true. And so to get a better result, to be get a better after picture, um, you're going to choose somebody that's going to give you that, regardless of what that procedure may be, whatever it is. Um, outfits, like, you know, oh, they have a nicer body, or their skin is really good, or their hair is good.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I use this belly bloat lotion serum, and I drink that every day, and that's what gives me the flat stomach. It's not that I was born with a flat stomach. I'm sorry, I forgot.

SPEAKER_00

I forgot, I totally missed that.

SPEAKER_02

Even in the fitness industry, they will do your before picture is actually the after, and they just reverse it. So it's like unbelievable. Like it's just and and even I feel like I heard this a long time ago. If you have a celebrity or somebody who works who's like doing a bit for um panteen, like whatever the whatever, they only have to use like a little bit. The rest of their hair can be used with whatever product, it's just that little strand, as long as it's on the head, it counts as what's the brand I'm thinking of? Gar Garnier. Garnier. Um, yeah, garnier fruities. Garnier fruites. Yeah, yes. I mean, that's a stupid name, first of all.

SPEAKER_00

But at least it's not okay, guys, and we're totally we're we're just going way off. We were talking about not promoting ourselves and here we are. So Pantene Pro V you can use to actually clean your floors and clean batteries. So, FYI, if you are using Pantene Pro V on your head, please stop. Same thing with Coca-Cola, right? Yeah. Yeah, it's real bad, but you use Pantene Pro V literally on your floors to like get it's it's it's real gross. There's a lot of stuff in there that you should not use um product-wise. Um, but it it's just not good. It's not good.

SPEAKER_02

Um it's a dumb name too. Yeah. Pantene Pro V. Like what do I need to talk about just some of these marketing? Between between medicine names. Ask your doctor about flyphazine that just pick just pick a thing. I can't I can't watch TV. The only time I watch TV, like like cable TV, is when I get my nails done because they always have it on. I leave there just a little less intelligent. It's the commercials, you know. God, is it the commercials?

SPEAKER_00

But you can also see some some interesting things, I feel like, you know, I mean they always say do not buy it.

SPEAKER_02

Actually, this is funny. I don't there was a couple like pieces of advice I've heard over the years, right? For for diet, it was always never eat anything out of the box, right? Like you always want to eat like fresh whatever's which we all don't do. Um then the other one that always stuck with me was don't buy anything that has a commercial because it's always like they're trying to sell you something. Like it's always a good thing.

SPEAKER_00

Wouldn't that be the same as like a billboard too? Because aren't billboards essentially Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So then think about Instagram. I've said this over and over again. It's just endless commercials, like it's just endless ads.

SPEAKER_00

So, but then you've got, well, yeah, but I got that off a TikTok shop and it changed my life. Oh my god. If I hear one more person tell me about like, I got this from TikTok, I heard this from TikTok, TikTok. I will liter I just just dig me a hole and put me into it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I'm like a little tired of hearing TikTok. TikTok shop, tick tock shop. Like even that is addictive to say, yeah, I don't like it. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

At one point we were thinking about like getting rid of TikTok.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, for work you mean?

SPEAKER_00

No, no, no. Like in the past, oh you mean in the country. Yeah, in the country. Yes, and I was fine. I wouldn't be sad. I was not I would feel bad for people that like made a lot of money off of it. But guys, like I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_01

Most of the stuff that you're coming. Let me make a list.

SPEAKER_00

Most of the stuff that y'all are like coming back. Oh, I got that off TikTok. Oh, I found this on and I'm like, especially when it comes to skincare products. Uh huh. What the F are you doing? Okay, pardon my French, but literally, please, snail DNA and slime and all these things you guys are putting on, like Alright now. I do believe in the snails. Just a little bit.

SPEAKER_02

I think human platelets are better. But but go on, but go on.

SPEAKER_00

But but for ten dollars, like guys that's a little different. Guys, I I I didn't get to finish because it's it's like well they say that there's snail, you know, in it, and I'm like, okay, well, is that the first ingredient or the last? Because let's be honest, if you're getting it off TikTok for ten dollars, for real low prices, guys, it's probably not high quality because I I don't know why I don't know why we forget that suddenly.

SPEAKER_02

When you're on your phone and you're just you know, you're doing the tafts, right? We're all we're all proceed to check out. You just you don't even think. It's like, oh, it's it's low price. I gotta I gotta I gotta have it. But it's like the shein stuff. Yeah, it's wrong. It's it's it's wrong, and I love sheen. But it's wrong. Is it sheen, shein, she's gonna be. I don't know. I've heard both. I don't know. She in, she out, sheen.

unknown

I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

She and she out. I don't know. It's I'm I'm fully aware with with sh clothing in particular. Like I'm I go back and forth on this because you have people in this country who are complaining about, you know, child labor and and all the controversial things over there, right? And you have to remember we're a completely different country than them. Yeah, they are used to that. And if you eliminate their jobs, you're eliminating their income. Correct. And it's it's just a very different ecosystem. So, yes, over here we can say, oh, you shouldn't make kids work, because our kids don't work, and it's it's just it's not the same. You cannot just take away somebody's um livelihood. Livelihood, thank you. And yes, you're right. It's not great that it's kids. I I'm not for that at all. Their conditions are terrible. However, they have to put food on the table, they have to support, like that's a whole different issue. Oh, I gotta make a note about this for our conspiracy pod uh episode. But everybody that I know that has been over there says it's amazing. So is it just to keep us from going over there?

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. I mean, I had a cousin that lived over there. You're saying cousin? I have a cousin tea on the end of the cousin.

SPEAKER_01

There's someone else I know that does that, and that's adorable and funny.

SPEAKER_02

But go ahead.

SPEAKER_00

I had a cousin that there we go.

SPEAKER_02

Sorry. I know, I would hold that thought. We were um dining last night and I said something about electricity, and my husband was like, I'm sorry, what did you just say? I said electricity. He's like, when is there a Z in electricity? And I felt really stupid, and I was like, oh wow, it's electricity.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, and um, yeah, so I think I think sometimes you know you try to talk, it's like kids, and it comes out and you're like, wait, what did you just say?

SPEAKER_02

I think I always say electricity though. Like I think it's a Baltimore thing. Maybe.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

My mom used to pronounce fajitas fajitas. So I grew up hearing, do you want fajitas for dinner? And I can't. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_00

And then it's like those things where you're in your household, it's normal until it's like water in the room. Yeah. Water and water. Tomato, tomato, like those kind of things. Yeah, it's rough. Yeah, water's and wash. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

No, I don't say that. I think baby jubies. Yeah. Anyway, your cousin, go ahead, please.

SPEAKER_00

They she lived over there, her and her husband lived over there for like three years, and the one thing they did say was the pollution was real bad. And so, like, when you walked around, they lived in China, that you would have to wear masks everywhere because the pollution was so bad. Interesting. Yeah. And that was that was prior to events that we will talk about later. The big seaword. Yeah. The big seaword. But that was that was prior to all of those things. But yeah, that I will say like the pollution is is a problem in China, especially like in the main cities.

SPEAKER_02

I it's funny. I actually um mass maybe makes sense. I don't know. I well again, we'll next episode we're gonna dive into that.

SPEAKER_00

But um I I don't know how much it does because you have to think about like particle size, yeah, all those things again that we can get into that later on.

SPEAKER_02

I know it didn't work for the one particle that we were trying to avoid, which is a whole other but so yeah, I mean, there's that.

SPEAKER_00

So moving on. TikTok shop TikTok shop. Shein. Shein TeamU. Oh yeah, does it have the theme?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and for a minute there, TMU was was taking over, and now I think I feel like Sheen is back. Yeah. They're kind of neck and neck, and they're probably owned by the same people. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

My my point would be, guys, okay it could be. If it's clothes or if it's like plastic stuff and it's real cheap, okay, fine, whatever. If y'all are looking at like good stuff for your hair, your body, skincare, like things that you're gonna like going to absorb, you're gonna put in and actually make a difference in your body. It's kinda like, you know, all the other things that you would take, medications and stuff. Think about it. If it costs you ten bucks, it's probably not high-end.

SPEAKER_02

I know, but now you have me thinking about what do they call PIFAs, like forever chemicals that are in clothing. I mean, we're gonna die.

SPEAKER_00

We're all gonna die from skin.

SPEAKER_02

But I still think yes, we're gonna die, but you wanna age well. And to me, that's where I draw the line. If it is skincare, hair care, I think it's worth investing actual money into those things. Yeah. Clothing, I don't know. I I don't think it's a lot of things.

SPEAKER_00

Well we're all I mean that's what I mean. I don't feel like it's as as much the same. Although I did put on I think we talked about this before, I put on um a Victoria's Secret outfit um that my mom had when I was in in high school. And um she wouldn't let me wear the pants, guys, because I'm short. And they were dragging and she didn't want me to ruin her pants. They were it was a sweatpant outfit. It had willow bark in it, which guys, I'm highly allergic to willow bark.

SPEAKER_02

What?

SPEAKER_00

And it was in clothing. It's it was in the clothing. And it was a high-end clothing. Can I tell you I had a severe allergic reaction? I blew up. Oh wow. I was fire engine red. My entire body, I looked like I had severe sunburn, I started swelling. Then I couldn't breathe. I bet this was I started hyperventilating going into school. I had to get hit with an epi pen and taken to the emergency room. So, with that being said, it doesn't matter if it's high-end. Sometimes you're just just not gonna work for you.

SPEAKER_02

Imagine being allergic to cotton, because that's like all the weight rage right now. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

I can't do wool. Okay. I can't do wool. My body, I get hives.

SPEAKER_02

You're just so special, you know that? I am very special. You're just so special. Yeah. Can I tell you, I um I've been on like a a bra adventure. A bra a braventure. A braventure? There's it's there. I just yeah, I'll come back to it. Yeah, we'll get we'll come back to it.

SPEAKER_00

And and what are you finding?

SPEAKER_02

Well, I um I went rogue, I went with some some brands I've I've never heard of, and they were a bust. Not pun intended. There it is. There, there's the pun. Um, but they were though, they were a bust. They were not great. Did you return? Um, no, I did not because I'm an idiot. Um, but then I started because I looked it up, Instagram was like, oh, you're looking for bras.

unknown

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

It's my laptop or my phone or whatever. Your SMR, your sounds.

SPEAKER_02

Um Instagram was like, well, we'll just feed you everything that we know about about bras. So then I checked out a brand called Ebi. E V-Y. I've heard of that, yes. And I I'm a fan. Okay. I actually really enjoy that brand. Um, however, it still requires like you still have to wear cakes, like nipple shields, whatever they're called. Are they because there's is it just a line like that doesn't have to be? It's like mesh. It's like, what what is the point of this? Where there's no what are we doing?

SPEAKER_00

Is it a wire or no wire?

SPEAKER_02

No, no wire. Just why that's kind of what I'm I'm into.

SPEAKER_00

I don't like I, yeah, I don't do wires anymore. Um haven't done them for years, actually. And that's the way God intended, I think. But I will say, for those of you that um are out there listening and might find this interesting, if you do have implants, okay, I find extra support is nice. Yes. So with that being said, not that push-up is necessary, but it gives you a little extra support. If it's like a a thin lined one, it also does not require you to get nipple covers.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, it's wireless. Especially for the wireless ones. I would say like if you do the wireless that are like the thin push-up, it kind of gives you that little extra support.

SPEAKER_02

Exactly. That's exactly no underwire must still be a push-up. Yep. So then I was like, I wonder what Victoria's Secret's been up to lately. I, and I'm wearing it now, I got two same same type thing. No, no underwire. It's like a let me see.

SPEAKER_00

Which one is that?

SPEAKER_01

It's like, it's got the cute little band.

SPEAKER_00

Look!

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Does yours have that too? See? And I have them both. See, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh too bad we're not on video, you guys. Sorry. Uh I it is is my favorite bra.

SPEAKER_00

It is my favorite. I am so they have them in the pink line as well that you can get. And they're really, really comfortable. I will tell you, um, I still to this day love Victoria's Secret. They have two. They have, guys, if you are they've made their sizes more accommodating for larger sizes, much larger sizes. Um, it used to be mainly for smaller sizes. Um, you couldn't get over like a 40 waistband or 40 um uh uh rib cage size. Yes. Um, I do think it goes up to 44. I think you can get much larger than that, um, as well as cup sizes. You can get really good deals. And for me, I do not put them in the dryer. Oh, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Let them air dry.

SPEAKER_00

I'll let them air dry. I do delicate, I'll put them in a delicate cycle in the wash and then just let them air dry. They will last you forever. Literally forever. Yes, yes. And that's my biggest thing is I would rather spend more money on them and make sure that they're gonna last me a long time as opposed to having to constantly order something new.

SPEAKER_02

I have two thoughts on that. Let me see if I can remember them. This is tough. Retaining memories harder and harder. Um I noticed, and I don't know if it's just I I don't know. I don't know if it's just marketing. I feel like at some point we were like told or not told, hinted at not to get Victoria's Secret. Or and I feel like it was done by other brands, right? Or we're better, we're better. I'm I think name brands are name brands for a reason. I I think we're trying to like I don't know, avoid the obvious here. Like it's just it that was the name when we were growing up. Like you go to Victoria's City, you get a bra. And then it was like, no, you don't go there anymore. And probably because it was all the Fat people trying to be not be happy about, you know, the Victoria's Secret models. And I'm sorry, but that's what sells.

SPEAKER_00

And that's and and they have changed the Victoria's Secret models. They're more um realistic. They're more realistic. We will say, um, like Tyra Banks back in the day, she was never a stick, guys. And she always had a figure. Um, I looked at her and I was just like, oh. You know, like she And I just wanted to look like that. You just wanted to look like that. I would say that I feel like the Victoria's Secret models, because most of them did have boobs, were never the stick thin models that are on in Paris on the runways, because you had to have some sort of a figure to fit in to their brawls and too. Unless you had implants, but most of them I feel like they didn't. Because you can really tell. Like Heidi Clum did not, Giselle Buncheon, um, who else is uh who's the uh Mira Mira uh Miranda Kerr.

SPEAKER_02

Miranda Kerr.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And a lot of them didn't, so I will say, like, you know, it uh I mean Photoshop was just the the old AI. Yeah. Like that's like when's the last time you heard the word Photoshop? Um because now it's everything's AI. Yeah. Instead of saying that's Photoshop. Yeah, um, the other thing I was gonna say, I did remember, is I forgot how good you feel when your undergarments are like new and oh match.

SPEAKER_00

I was like, did you get the underwear to go with it? Of course I did. But which ones did you get? Okay, so guys, Victoria's Secret. Like they have lots of different types. So what did you get?

SPEAKER_02

Okay, okay. Okay. I mean, I could unbutton my pants and oh, yeah, sure. Why I'm having that.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so I got the matching, which you can't see, right? Yeah. But I went with like the boxer.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, gosh. Because I really think that's cute. I think the um what was the difference of perception? Um, I really like the trend where I know low rise is in right now, right? And for all of us that are like absolutely not, I lived that era, I don't want to be back in it. Yeah. I noticed it's really cute when you do low rise jeans and then you have the high rise boxer breed. Oh, so we're doing it. We're going back to back in the day where the guys were wearing the yes, but now it's a it's a role reversal, and now it's us doing it. I think that is so cute and so funny. I bought a pair of low rise pants and um this is where height. They were mid-rise. I I don't I don't know unless I go to like, I don't know, who's making like a super low rise right now. I like American Eagle. Yes, American Eagle Doctor.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I just Do you have a long waist or a short waist? I think that makes a difference. I have a short short waist. I you have longer legs. So like regular pants fit you. Right? You can wear a regular size. Whereas somebody who has you can be the same size as somebody, right? Same height. Oh yeah. Yeah. But if their torso is longer, they're gonna need, you know, depending on wha how tall they are, they're gonna need a short pair of pants. That's true. Where somebody else who has a shorter torso is gonna can use a regular pair, or maybe even a tall, depending on how short their torso is. I have an incredibly long torso and short legs. And so I need short for everything. That makes sense, okay. And you could be the exact same height as somebody.

SPEAKER_02

And we are the exact same height and very different. That's funny. You don't yeah. But yeah, I just um I just forgot like how much of a confidence boost it is on just and no one even knows. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Just I put a new one on yesterday and I was like, huh, you know, it just makes you really.

SPEAKER_02

I I really like don't sleep on that. And I feel like that's something that's worth investing in. Yeah. And if you have a brand, I I strongly urge people to go back and try Victoria's Secret again if you've thinking like, oh no, I can't wear that anymore for whatever reason, no idea.

SPEAKER_00

And also, guys, try the wireless reel.

SPEAKER_02

No, it's better for you, even if you don't have implants, it's better for your breast health, that's what they say.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know who they are. We never know who not only that, but you don't have to worry about wires poking out eventually at you because that's a true thing, that's a real thing. It has happened to me. It has happened to me as well, and it does not feel good. No, I don't like being stabbed in that area. I don't either. I'm not a fan. So I will say I have for years and years and years now only done wireless and And you're better for it. I am I just it's like wearing a sports bra all the time to Yes. But you actually feel sexy. Yeah. But you can feel sexy. Yes. And yeah, is and without having that. And you're not flat chested.

SPEAKER_02

Sometimes when you do sports bras, it like switches it down. This is like we're creepy.

SPEAKER_00

Yes.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It's just a little, it's just a little off.

SPEAKER_02

This is not an ad. This is not a space sponsor. Sponsorship. This was brought to you by Well, maybe we should uh tag them. We should be like, hey.

SPEAKER_00

Hey, by the way. Hey.

SPEAKER_02

Um, so I'm gonna pivot and I'm gonna tell you we went away last weekend. Um we had a very delayed, like a month late anniversary trip. We actually, our anniversary is in May. We got finally got out in June. Um we went to Gettysburg slash Tawnytown. Have you heard Tawnytown?

SPEAKER_00

I've heard of it.

SPEAKER_02

I haven't been actually nothing to do in Tawnytown, but the place that we stayed at was in Tawnytown. It's called the Antrim. Antrim, like 1744 or something. Anyway, it was. I was like, all right, so my next house will have beautiful topiary English gardens check. Uh it was stunning. If you are in this area and you're looking for like a weekend trip, I just it was so nice. Um beautiful, absolutely beautiful. Um, but we went to Gettysburg for the day and shout out to one of our OG listeners. Um, I did a poll on Instagram about conspiracies, which we will get to. Um, and I had choices to choose from, and he um he went around that and just told me, no, I want you to talk about the Civil War. So um, which is funny because I told him that when my husband and I were there, that is something we were talking about. It's like, what do you think really led the country to what we know now, yeah, right, about the media and politics and war, what is it for, kind of thing. Um, makes me wonder what the charge was for civil war really.

SPEAKER_00

Wasn't it all based off of taxes to a certain extent? Slavery taxes.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and and he had a valid point. He said, like, by the time it was the civil war, like slavery was already abolished. So it's like exactly doesn't add up. And it's and he did note this isn't even a conspiracy. It's just it's facts, but it's facts that we're not talking about. Right. And that I always find so interesting, especially in the conspiratorial world where it sounds like it's a conspiracy, but really it's just no, it's been proven. It's just no one's talking about it. And if you do, you're insane, even though it's it's right there. But I I don't know. It's so anyway, we'll we'll get to that. But um, so I just thought that was funny that he had a had a very good suggestion.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um, so we're it I'm gonna put it in the running. Okay. So next episode, we are gonna we're gonna we're we're working up to the Epstein files, okay? Yeah, it's gonna be we might do a conspiracy uh series.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it might be a series, guys, of just different things that y'all Because I can't we can't have all these bubbly fun episodes and then Epstein files.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, it's just it's too much.

SPEAKER_00

Well, you you can't have conspiracy, conspiracy, conspiracy you know what I mean?

SPEAKER_02

Like unless we're a conspiracy podcast, which that's funny, and if you know, you know.

SPEAKER_00

But we're not and um But we can we can sprinkle them in there for you in between and That's why we were very careful with the selection of the podcast name because he wanted to leave it as a possibility.

SPEAKER_02

Um but anyway, so we were away, like I said, and when we came back, um we had like an a carpenter ant event. Oh just a big, big old, big old event. Um did you did you call an external? We we we did. We did. We did. And they were confirmed carpenter ants. Um and we also have termites, so that was cool. And often they live together.

SPEAKER_00

Where are they at?

SPEAKER_02

Um they're in our like if you look outside behind you, we have like this wood decking underneath. Yeah. So they're they're there on the other side. So, um How about the termite damage? Well, that's what's curious. Um it's not. So where they're coming in on that side is all stone. So he's kind of like the guy was like, it's like they're hang on, let me get this right. Termites eat the wood. Carpenter ants just are destructive because that's where they build their homes. Yeah. So that's why they live together. They can which is great, yeah, good for them. Um that's really I'm really happy that groomites and ants can can thrive together. Um and destroy things all at the same time. It's great. Well, last year I really thought it was it was an apoc in a pop an apocalyptic. An apocalyptic event because they were literally pouring through the stone walls. Like I thought it was in a horror movie. Like I had the vacuum, just the nozzle up against the stone wall, just sucking them out because they were just like coming through. It's absolutely disgusting. I thought they were ants with wings. And because apparently that's a thing. Yes, they're but no, if they lose their wings, you guys, that's termites. And they lost their wings. So he he came out. Bug guys, can I just give a shout out to anyone in a in the bug industry? It is like excuse me, it is an absolutely repulsive like I I cannot I cannot. I get I get I just I can't. And ants are like one of my worst idea. I don't know. Anyway, all that to say. Um he came out, he sprayed the shit out of our house. They're still coming in, but now they're dying. Now we just have like it looks like a battlefield, like, you know, go back throw it back to Gettysburg. Um they're just dead everywhere. It's just it's so gross. It's so gross. However, knowing that they're dead makes me feel a lot better. And I feel I feel good about it. And I went with like a a not, I went with like a he owns his own business. Okay. And I and I feel he taught let's put it this way. He told me you don't need to spray for mosquitoes, that doesn't work. And I really appreciated that honesty. So what did he say you can do for them? Well, he was like, There's nothing. Mosquitoes, like, forget it. He's like, you have a pond, you you live on a farm, like unless you can bomb the entire area, you're not getting rid of mosquitoes. And I I appreciated that honesty because Orkin was like, Yep, you need to spray for mosquitoes, that's gonna help, and it never helped. No. And they just wanted to take my money. Yeah. So I like this guy, so shout out to him, because he was like, no. And even the termite thing, he's like, I could do it, but I'm gonna charge you. So get this and this, and then have your husband do it, because he could tell I wasn't gonna do it. And I appreciated that. I didn't feel like I was taken advantage of.

SPEAKER_00

That's always nice when they because uh I we had the teeny tiny little ants and paid a crap ton of money and it didn't work. So I did my own research and went and got a spray. And then if we're intern in inside your house and outside, that helps to like prevent them from even coming in, and that worked better than what they even did.

SPEAKER_02

And I was like, you know, these people these people like trying to make a living based off of our living. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And and I get it, but like also I I don't.

SPEAKER_02

I look, as as people who are in business, you it's the it's the trust that you build. Yeah. Like I especially if you're already on the hook, like for like a bug service where they come many times a year, like you you've got me on the hook. You don't need to upsell me. No, like where's your integrity?

SPEAKER_00

I mean, I get like you have to pay is if it's a business, like you there's lots of other things. I get the price points because there's so many other factors involved in it. But if it's not actually working, it's a problem. Right.

SPEAKER_02

Unless you had the miracle product where it's like, no, this works, it's worth the money. But yeah, yes, it's fine. So ants. Ants. It's that time of year, guys. I think it's well, it depends on the ant. Yeah. We had also the tiny little ants. Yeah. And they are forever, but I haven't seen them. Because he did a thing.

SPEAKER_00

And I I'm like, and maybe he'll come back and do the thing again. You won't have to see him. That is the goal. Yeah. I don't Because I don't like leaving out antraps. I don't like leaving any of that kind of scope roast. It is. It's just like for flies and stuff. It's like mm.

SPEAKER_02

We do have a few of those. Those like strips. Yeah. Or not the strips, not the ones that hang. They're like they look like um zapper ones that are plugged in or no? No, they're how can I describe it? It's like um like a like a paper towel ring thing. What do you call that? A paper towel.

SPEAKER_00

The holder? Yeah. Well, why can't I The stand? A paper towel stand?

SPEAKER_02

No. Like when you get to the end of the roll, what are we calling that? A cardboard thing. What are we calling that?

SPEAKER_00

What is that called? A paper towel roll? Cylinder roll. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Paper cylinder roll? I know, but like if you're doing a craft, they tell you that you need paper cylinder? Paper towel roll? I don't know. Anyway. You guys know what I'm talking about. When you get to the end of the roll, the thing that the paper towel is around.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_02

Wow. Okay. It's like that. And then there's like a little cup at the bottom that you put like a a sweetener or something. But that whole rod, the thing is sticky, and then they go to it and they stick and then they die. However, I do have. If you have a fly problem, let me tell you what. Do I have the bait for you? Okay. What's that? So you want to get those, okay? They love white claw. Like the seltzer. Yeah. It's gotta be the original. You can't be getting those weird ass flavors. You have to get like the original, like black cherry or lime, or not these like combo, not the new ones. I am telling you, like it is with is white claw. Flies like a good time. They want to feel like a good time. They like to party. I'm telling you. It is it is the it is the best bait. And we all we just know by accident. Like we I think it was after like you know, Bender. And I say bender, but it was it was like an event. Okay, we had a party. We don't get white claw unless there's there's something going on. But I feel like we were having a fly issue, and my husband was like, well, we'll just try this. It that's all we do now. Okay, it's that is like when you need a white claw and just we're gonna come too. I know, it's true. My um my daughter last year got one of those fly traps stuck in her hair. That was an event. Did you have to cut it? No. It was it wasn't as bad as she made it out to be, of course. Like she called me, so I'm like running down of the house, and it it was just like the ends. And I was able to separate it, wash it, brush it out, but thankfully it was a new one. Can you can you just thankfully there were no flies on it? Um, yeah, she remembers that. She'll never make that mistake again. I would handle that too. Don't handle these with your hair down. Just don't. Don't, please don't. Something else about hair. We got a lot of positive feedback for our episode on norms, social norms. Okay. And um they want us to do a part two. Okay. So, like, what do we miss? What do you want us to talk about?

SPEAKER_00

So that'll be fun. Yeah, I would love to uh do a more deep dive into the social norms because uh there's so many. There are a lot.

SPEAKER_02

And and I honestly I don't even remember them until like I'm in the moment. I I feel like I'm like a a comedian. Like I know like when they get like a a bit idea, they have to write it down and they'll forget it. And that's what's happening with the podcast. I'm like, ooh, I gotta talk about that. And even with the the norms, it's like yeah, if you don't it's hard to recall like what is a social norm. And ChatGBT can I don't know what's going on with it. It sucks.

SPEAKER_00

Lately. I have just not looking.

SPEAKER_02

I have not been using it, and I'm I'm really proud of myself, but I it's not good for anything anymore. Like it's it's not it's not. So just stop, guys. Let's just stop using it. Yeah. And that's a that's a whole other conspiracy that I'll Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I don't I haven't been using it a whole lot just because I feel like I can do my own research, I can figure it out.

SPEAKER_02

Well, that's the thing. Oh sorry. We're gonna have to end this because I keep referring to the next episode. Yeah. Because we just type something in and I don't even think. But it was just you're it you can't do research on a regular like surf uh search engine. No. It's you're not gonna get.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I wonder if I went into like duck duck go.

SPEAKER_02

I haven't been in there lately and I'm wondering. What's the there is an AI, um there is an AI that is completely neutral. I think it's uh what's it now? I was gonna say grok, but that's Eli Elon Musk, isn't it? Uh I think so. There's there's there's two, I feel, that you'll get like non-biased, which I mean, I don't know how you know that. How do you control that? I don't know. I don't know. Um, all right, well we're gonna end this one because we're literally jumping into to doing another one. We're doing a double today. Um and obviously we're more excited to talk about next week. So I'm sorry because we won't get this for another week, you guys, but it's gonna be it's gonna be a good one.

SPEAKER_00

It is gonna be a really good one. And you know, if you guys have ideas on things that you really want us to talk about, um, you know, whether that be skincare, hair, plastic surgery, makeup, uh, we will come back to all of that, yes. All of those things. Um, we we love that. That's what we do, that's that's what we're here for. Um, but we are also really into all the other things, the conspiracy theories, the um world events, whatever that may be. But we need you guys to tell us. And we can even merge the two.

SPEAKER_02

But that's why the name is the beauty files.

SPEAKER_03

I like that.

SPEAKER_02

Um please share with a friend or two. Yeah. Share with someone you don't even like. You know what? Just send it. Make t-shirts and just wear them out and about so that we can get it out there. Um, as I said on the Instagram, we're new, okay?

SPEAKER_00

We are new. Um, I know we said that May we were gonna be.

SPEAKER_02

I was thinking about that this morning because it's mid-June.

SPEAKER_00

And um, so let us know if you want to see us on video, guys. Yeah, because we um if you say it, well, it'll probably happen a lot faster.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. That's just it's true. It's true. It's very true. Especially, I mean, my god, I just flashed Rachel. I mean, we probably would be oblivious to it, so you guys would get a lot of footage. It's true. When you get used to not we even talk about my nose. That's God, we'll do that next episode. Yeah, it's gonna it's still gonna be relevant. Um like, subscribe, follow, share, share, comment.

SPEAKER_00

And uh thank you. Yeah, we hope that you guys have a great weekend, and this has been the Beauty Files. Case closed.
