SPEAKER_02

Welcome. Welcome. Welcome to the Beauty Files. The podcast where we talk about everything and solve nothing. Yeah. I like that. That sounds good. It sounds negative, but it's not. It's actually very empowering and positive. It's just also realistic. Right. Because, you know, I mean. We are not in a position to solve any problems, but we are in a position to talk about them and everything. Bring them to light. Yeah. And then somebody else can solve them. Well, ideally, but I don't know about that these days. Or if ever. Um, hey everybody. So we're gonna we're gonna talk routines. Yes. We're gonna overshare on everything we do, down to the nitty-gritty, if we feel like it.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, only if we feel like it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so only if we feel like it. Only. So, um, I know this was popular, gosh, I want to say five years ago, maybe more, like when podcasts were just coming, really coming on the scene. It was always like, oh, let's talk morning routines. And it was always like, I journal for 15 minutes, and then I meditate for 30 minutes, and then I drink my water with my and that's not what this is. At least that's not my morning routine. No, that is nowhere near my morning routine, and I'm not convinced it was their morning routines either.

SPEAKER_00

No, I think there's very few people that actually do things like that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I and they're probably not human. Um, can I just tell you real quick before we get started? I was talking to Chat GPT, which apparently is just an addiction because I keep saying it sucks and I'm not using it. Um, but I keep using it. So I just need to read to you what it said to me. It like no longer it's like separated itself from AI. Okay. Uh, hold on. Oh, look, right here. I actually think we can do much better than the AI has been doing. That is a direct quote from my chat GPT.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

You're AI. I actually think we can do much better than the AI has been doing. I'm gonna screenshot this.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Because this is wild. Um, I saw a meme that said we are living these movies all at the same time, and it was The Matrix, Terminator, and um Idiocracy. And it's true. It's really true. Like people are like, we are in a simulation. A lot of people are saying everything is AI. So any kind of manipulated image at all can't well, we assume it's AI. So even if it was a real image, we would say it's AI. Like we don't know what's real anymore. And that's like one of the quotes from The Matrix. What is real? It's Morpheus. Yeah. You've seen The Matrix, tell me you've seen it.

SPEAKER_00

You're looking at me like you have no idea what a long time ago. Rachel. I've seen The Matrix a long time ago. It's just not, I don't love that kind of stuff.

SPEAKER_02

Well, let me put it this way. We watch it like once a year because it's just like a reminder of like this is possible. I'm I mean, yeah, I just You only really need to watch the first one. You don't need to watch two, three or the the newest one. You don't need to.

SPEAKER_00

I I'm also not like once you go beyond two when it comes to movies, I'm kind of like, eh.

SPEAKER_02

There are some trilogies that are worth the third the watch, but it is it is rare where you have like all three being perfect. Yeah, that would be I'm gonna I'm gonna make a list of that because that would be a fun episode.

SPEAKER_00

Because you love movies, obviously. Harry Potter, like there's like 5,000 of them. But I go I get that that's based off the book.

SPEAKER_02

Um Lord of the Rings is arguably one of the greatest trilogies of all time.

SPEAKER_00

Okay. Uh yeah, see, look at that. This is Star Wars, like, I don't know, I don't like Star Wars TV. Isn't there like Avatar? I don't count Avatar as a real movie.

SPEAKER_02

I know what it is, but I don't count it. Um Alright, we're gonna we're gonna we're gonna circle back to the movie uh podcast. That would be a funny one. Yeah, I'm just not you're a fine that just saying the movie is enough. Like because if people are like, oh, I forgot about that one. It's you don't even have to talk the plot or anything. You just say the movie and it gets a reaction.

SPEAKER_00

It's kind of like Toy Story. Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_02

There's like five of them now. Yes. Um the fifth one is coming out. No, it is out. Oh, it is out. It is okay.

SPEAKER_00

I just I never I never really loved Toy Story either. So I liked the first one.

SPEAKER_02

And then after well it was groundbreaking. It was the first uh Pixar. It was the the first. It was the first of its kind. Right. But it's is it a movie on my on my re rewatch list? No. No, no.

SPEAKER_00

I what was the other one? But yeah, there's a lot of movies where there's just more they're just constantly coming out with the city.

SPEAKER_02

Well, they're cash grabs at this at this point. Well, yeah, like I said, we're gonna we're gonna make that we're gonna make that an episode. Yeah. I think that would be fun. Okay. But we're not talking about that. We're talking about routines.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, routines, morning, night, like just routines in general.

SPEAKER_02

Routines that I would I can actually safely say these are like my non-negotiable. Like no matter what other little things I sprinkle in, no, these are like the things. Okay. And we're getting we're getting real granular here. Like, I'm gonna talk about brushing my teeth. Okay. Like it's we're we're getting it, we're getting after it. And now I don't floss. I want to floss.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I just I love it when you go to the dentist and like, oh, you floss too. You're like once a week, once a month. That's a lot.

SPEAKER_02

Like I floss if I see that there's a need to floss. I'm like a reactive flosser. If I have something stuck in my teeth.

SPEAKER_00

I I will attempt at least once a week to floss. That's pretty good. That's pretty good. I'm at But I have an electric toothbrush. Me too.

SPEAKER_02

So guys, we'll get to that. Yeah. Um actually that's as far as it goes. I have an electric toothbrush and I don't know. But what what what brand? I want to say it's a Sonicare Phillips. The Phillips? Yes. Sonic hair, yeah. Yes. I think is that it?

SPEAKER_00

That's like the Botox of Or the oral or what is it? Oh, yeah, it's like oral. What's this for? Y'all.

SPEAKER_02

You know, dentistry is a pretty dirty, um it is a pretty dirty industry. It's nasty. It's a lot of crossover with uh some other industries, but for whatever reason, oral cares. Oral B. It's oral be. Oh, oral be bad. I don't know. My God. That's fascinating.

SPEAKER_00

So, all right, do you do you want to go first? Or should we just go back and forth? Let's compare. Okay, well, I guess it I typically I don't know what time you normally typically wake up.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, that's great. Let's start with waking up. Um well, I'm gonna pretend. Well, no, I I can I can still say this because no matter what, if it's school or camp, they all start at the same time. So my alarm is 6 a.m.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

I don't get up though until like 6 15. Yeah. 6 10 on a really good day.

SPEAKER_00

My body alarm is like 5 30. That's horrible. Yeah. So a lot of times, like I'll wake up and I'll pick up my phone and I'll be like, I thought it would at least be sick. Um, so I will say I will set my alarm for 6, but typically my body wakes me up at 5 30, sometimes 5, and I just kind of lay there and I'll try. I'll try real hard to just like go back to sleep if I can, but that never really happens. Um so let me ask you this.

SPEAKER_02

Do you have what what is your alarm sound? It's some normal, annoying ones. Oh, okay. I'm sure. Well, it was, and then I realized you can do music. Yeah. So, guys, I'm gonna play it for you. We might get copyright. I don't know how that works, but I'm I'm gonna talk over it because I think that's okay if you do that. But it's called ROI, which it's the slowed version. Don't don't ask. Um, but this is what I wake up to. Alright, hang on. And I had to talk over it because that actually wake you up. Guys, let me tell you what. What a what a way to wake up. First of all, it's a banger of a song. If you don't know the song, you need to you need to go just stop what you're doing, run to the your phone, and download the song. I hate can you tell I just hate Instagram right now? I just hate it. Oh my god, stop right now. I just I can't. Yeah. Uh anyway, okay, that song puts me in such a good mood. Like, I don't I'm not upset when I hear it. It is, I'm like, yeah, like rocking out, but I will silence that. Yeah. I will snooze that shit. Yeah. I'm like, okay. But it is the only thing that I can actually wake up to. That's like uh the slow to build. It doesn't like shock me. Because I used to get like I'd have like those dreams where your alarm's going off and you're um, what's the term? Not de the opposite of detonating, diffusing a bomb. Right. Like I've had those dreams where it the alarm is going off and like I have to like cut the right chord, but really it's my alarm going off, but it's just worked its way into my dream. Not with this song, you guys. Not with this song. Um if I'm lucky, I will sleep up until this goes off. The other alarm that I have is my cat. She has been jumping up, biting my hair, like paw pawing at my face, and that's like at like right before the alarm goes off. And it's cute, but it's also really annoying. Really annoying, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, that would be It's really annoying. I can't be mad because I'm like, oh, she loves me.

SPEAKER_00

Now, here's the first question. What's the first thing you do when you get out of bed?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I love this. Okay. Um well, let me think about that. I pet all my animals. So I get out of bed, I sit on the bed for like a minute, like I just sit there and I'm just like, oh god, I have to like stretch because I'm a side sleeper, so my shoulder is always tight. And then I pet the one dog, and then two cats will emerge, and then they come into the bathroom with me, and then I close the door and I take my phone with me. I I am a phone checker as soon as I wake up. I believe in it. I think it depends on what you do for a living, but if I'm that person who's like, I don't check my phone for the first three hours, my day will be on fire. Yeah, like there are things I need to know. Um I don't find that very realistic unless you're just a person who doesn't work or you're retired, or okay, that makes sense. But if you are, if you have a job, you probably need to check your your emails. Just just say it. Yeah. Um, if you're an employee, I would not proudly tell everyone that you don't check your messages because that's gonna make some people very upset. Um so I believe in checking all the things. Not to mention, I just then I then I know and I can either plan my day or it doesn't like ruin my it doesn't affect my day in a way of like, oh, I wish I didn't see that insert, whatever. It's like, oh okay, now I know and I can move on. How about you?

SPEAKER_00

Um, so sometimes I'll look at my phone like even before I get out of bed and start checking stuff. Um but then normally I the first thing I do when I wake up is go to the bathroom.

SPEAKER_02

Oh yeah. I mean we have to. We have to pee.

SPEAKER_00

Like it's just typically, and then after that I go straight downstairs. Are you a as soon as you wake up, you're having a number two?

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_02

Me either. There are people that are that, and I don't know who I don't trust those people. Yeah, I'm not sure. I don't know how you're like ready to just have a movement first thing. I don't that's is that a thing? I think so. I've listened to a lot of morning routine podcasts over the years, and that one is not overly popular, but it is it has come up. And I I just I needed to know if you're one of those people. Yeah or if you were human.

SPEAKER_00

I am normal. I pee and I go downstairs and I make coffee because no, I don't drink water in the morning or anything else. I don't eat food in the morning. I just need my coffee. Okay, so hold on.

SPEAKER_02

So are we s you truly you pee and you leave the bathroom and you go to start coffee. There's nothing wow. Okay, this is where we totally differ.

SPEAKER_00

There's like I'm in jammies, I go downstairs. Yeah. Well, I mean, I open up my blinds. Like, you know anyway.

SPEAKER_02

Well, this is important. This is part of the routine. We w you are you are taking us through. We are painfully going through details. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

So I will um I honestly before it depends. It depends on how bad I have to pee, guys. Okay. So I'll either first go in there and go pee, or I will turn I have a fan, so I will turn off my fan and open up the two blinds.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Or I'll do that after I pee. And then I go straight downstairs. That's it.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. So I'm I skipped a step as well. I always put my slippers on, and then I go into the bathroom. But after I pee, I'm I'm right there. I'm brushing my teeth with my electric toothbrush. I am putting my contacts and I'm doing my skincare like right there. Right then and there.

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_02

It's so interesting.

SPEAKER_00

No, I gotta go downstairs. I need my coffee. I'll turn on the news or just like a TV show, whatever, like I just turn on the TV just to like sit and sip my coffee for So I fantasize about doing that.

SPEAKER_02

I in fact, I fantasize about doing that so much that it pains me that I I really can't do it. I imagine myself in like one of those long, flowy robes, or just in my nice pajamas, and I'm downstairs and I'm brewing a coffee. Like you really are living out my romantic romanticized version of what I would want my morning to be. And what's funny is that my morning could be that. Yeah. I just choose not to, which is interesting. So I I go through my skincare, so I I use the brand Epicutus, I do the oil cleanser, I have two serums that I mix together, I have a spray, and then I do the moisturizer, and then sunscreen. Yes, because it's a tinted sunscreen. Um, I do sunscreen later because first I do eye patches. Sunscreen's iffy for me because I don't wear it every single day. Which I know I know, I know. I know. I just I just don't. I think on days where I know I'm gonna be like out and about and I'm not coming back home, I will put it on. Today was not that day, and I always do eye patches.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I don't do eye patches.

SPEAKER_02

So I do I have a retinol stick. Which I know That's only for evening. I know, but it says AMPM on it. Yeah, it's wrong. I do it, I love it. Nope, it's wrong. I put it on just under my eyes, and then I put the eye patches on.

SPEAKER_00

So it is blocked, technically. But it's still on your skin. So if you were to go outside, you didn't reapply your sunscreen, it was a really hot day out, it was melting off your face, you take that chance of causing a chemical burn to your skin from the retinol being on your face. I guess, but I have the habit. Ugh, look at this.

SPEAKER_02

Such a judgy face that Rachel's giving me right now, which is the same. Which you will see soon. We just got steps to start filming, so we're hoping by at least two podcasts from now. But Rachel did just give me a look that was hilarious, and I can't wait for you guys to see it. Um, okay, so then I do iPads, and then I put on a uh lip whip from Saint that I love, and then I roll out, leave the room, and I wake up currently before my husband. If my husband was up before me, I would make the bed. I'm a I have to make the bed usually.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah, I make the bed too. Oh, I make the bed as soon as I get up before I go pee. Oh, see, how could you forget that detail? I don't know, because I just do it. It's cruel.

SPEAKER_02

It's just a constant I am a make the bed. If I do not make the bed, my whole that is truly like the that's how my day's gonna go. Yeah. In fact, when I'm having a bad day, I'm like, I didn't make the bed.

SPEAKER_00

I it used to be more complicated when I would have to make the bed because I had a lot of pillows, but then I had to get rid of all the pillows, so I had a lot of pillows. Um I like how it looks.

SPEAKER_02

I do it is a chore. I I have three of the like European size pillows, and it is annoying. But it does look nice when the bed's made.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So it does, but then you do have to put them at the end of the bed when you sleep, and mine are just in the closet.

SPEAKER_02

You know, pillows are like the adult version of stuffed animals for kids. Because honestly, to make my daughter's bed, like trying to teach her, like, hey, here's how you make your bed. Like, I'm psycho.

SPEAKER_00

Like, it only bothers me. Well, did you notice where most of my daughter's stuffed animals are?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they're like they're like not on the bed. On the dresser. Yeah, that's smart. In a little, yeah. That's very smart. We have bins. My child has a stuffed animal addiction.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, see, I just take mine and say, Do you like this one? She's like, nope. We just got rid of a whole bag of them.

SPEAKER_02

And I was like, oh, thank you. We do that twice, sometimes three times a year. It's always birthday, Christmas, but because they're both at the end of the year, we always make sure we do like a summer round. Yeah. It's just too much. Yeah. It's too much.

SPEAKER_00

So Alright, so you're downstairs. I'm downstairs. I finish my coffee. I spend it like I give myself like 30 minutes. Are you putting anything in your coffee? We're drinking. I just do creamer. Okay. I just do French vanilla. That's a sounds good. Yeah. Okay. Um if the this is like right now because I d my kids aren't in school. If my kids are in school, then before I go down, I have to wake up my son. But if they're in school, I don't have to or not in school in the summertime, I don't have to do that. I can let them sleep. Um When I go upstairs after I'm done my coffee, I will wake up my daughter. And then I go into the bathroom, I brush my teeth, wash my face, so I use skin butter, I use the cleansing gel in the morning, um, followed by um my hydrenity spray. Then after that, I do my Alto Advanced, so it's my vitamin C and protector. Um I will do my even tone intensive, so that helps with pigment. Um, and that's again a skin better product. I follow that with Trio, which is my moisturizer, and then I do it depends. So I have Skin Better Sunscreen, um, which is their Tone Smart, or I will do Color Science Flex Fusion, um, which is 50 or higher.

SPEAKER_02

Is that the one that's tinted or no?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that one is tinted. Um, and then I'll do um my powder over top of it, which is the DMK um powder overtop, and it just kind of sets everything for the day. Um my deodorant, which Oh, I didn't even mention deodorant. I do deodorant and then brush my hair because I just take it out. I usually sleep with it in a bun at night, so brush my hair out and then I get dressed based off of whether I'm going to work or you know, just have to run errands or whatever.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so I've missed that detail. I do my hair as well. Some days it calls for dry shampoo, other days it's just hairspray and a little like big comb that goes through. Lately I've been like this whole week, is I've just been wearing it up. Because I'm most I'm just not feeling it. I don't feel like curling it, I don't feel like doing anything. I mean, one of those just But I also haven't had to. Um and the reason why I did mention deaterant is because I don't put it on yet. I don't do it until after I'm dressed. Yeah. Because I'm scared of transfer and ruining my clothes that are so expensive because they're from Sheen. Yeah. And we all know how I feel about that. Um, okay, so when I leave my bedroom, I go to my daughter's room and give her a 10-minute warning. And then I go downstairs, and then I'm doing my coffee, uh, and then making her something to eat. Not myself. Just something for her. I don't like to eat that early in the morning. My coffee though, I'm still sick of talking about it, but I don't care. I get out my mug and I put my collagen uh protein powder in it, and then two scoops of monk fruit, and then I take a glutathione gummy and a zinc gummy, and so I'm like sucking on those while I'm making breakfast, whatever it is, and then I feed the cats, because that's why they wake me up, um, is to be fed. So I do that, and then I'll yell up to my daughter because her room is right above the kitchen, and I'll give her a two-minute warning, and then it's a 30-second warning, and then she gets up. Like it's it's hysterical. Like she doesn't like there's always a groan, of course, that follows. Uh, but then she's doing her thing, and then I'm I don't know, sometimes if there's time, I'll empty the dishwasher if that needs to be done. Sometimes I'll like yesterday I took the trash out and I just stood out there and I had my bird um recorder thing where it it tells me like who's who's chirping, and there were like 21 birds, and I was out there for like 10 minutes. I actually was out there for way too long, and I had to like run inside and like quick get ready. But I I just love bird season, I just love it. Oh my goodness. Anyway, and then and this is all by the way, if I'm not working, I just want to be real clear. If I'm working, I'm getting dressed, doing my makeup and everything before I even leave the room to go wake up my child. So on those days, I do have to be up at six. Yeah. It takes me like 40 minutes beginning to end, dressed everything, and then I do the kitchen stuff. Yeah. So there's that. Um if I'm driving her to school on a non-work day, I have my open mug. I don't like travel mugs if I can help it. I don't know. I like to live dangerously. I have my open mug, I have my eye patches, and then my sunglasses, and when the eye patches are there, then it doesn't leave a mark on my eyes, which is nice. Um, and sometimes like during the school year, I told you this off-air, I don't have to get out of the car to take her to school. So usually I'm in my pajamas with the slippers. No shame. I will get gas in slippers, like it's happened.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, hey, we all have to.

SPEAKER_02

I um I've seen worse. I have slippers, they're by Uggs. They look like Uggs, but just slide-ons. And um I've seen some real sights at the gas station. I don't think I'm one of those sights, even even in pajamas.

SPEAKER_00

No, but you have nice pajamas, so they match.

SPEAKER_02

They're not really they look like something I would wear. They just look like loose, like they're by negative underwear. They are 100% cotton and they are outrageously expensive. Yeah. I will say that. Like they are like I I have to like close my eyes when I hit purchase. Like that's in fact, I have a pair that are so old they now are starting to like have holes in them, and I I cannot replace them because I don't want to. Because they're too expensive, and they never have sales. Yeah. And I think that's cruel and really full of themselves. I mean Naked Vender, if you're listening, I would love a free pair. I would wear the crap out of them and I would celebrate them and just like.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, you can send me a pair too. Uh wear them.

SPEAKER_02

We and look, we would wear them while recording. Yeah. Our audio would then send PJM a day. We could change the beauty files to PJ Beauty. I don't know. Anyway. Um, oh, one other um thing I want to mention is I am one of those stupid white girls that has her water bottle in her car.

SPEAKER_00

Um I normally have a water bottle in my car, but it's not always full. Respect. Yeah. You know, I mean, I'm so being completely honest.

SPEAKER_02

What's the brand of the water bottle that you got us?

SPEAKER_00

Broomate.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. So I have a brewmate, thanks to my dear friend who's sitting across from me. And I put uh electrolytes in it. So I like element, L M N T. I get the I get the grapefruit flavor. It's the only flavor that I like. Just side note. And if you mix that with water and then you add tequila, just side note. It's a really good, like, poor man's paloma. I just love it.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_02

I thought you guys should know that. It's really, really good. So just a little hack there. But you have to you have to dilute the element first in the cup, like with water. Do that first. Don't like try and pour your decilo, pour a tiny bit of element. Don't do that. That's yeah, that's not good. Too much salt. Um, but it's a really good hack. And I like to think that you are hydrating while you're dehydrating.

SPEAKER_00

While you're dehydrating, you're hydrating while you're dehydrating.

SPEAKER_02

Two negatives. Yeah. Or negative positive, it's cancel out situation.

SPEAKER_00

Cancel itself out.

SPEAKER_02

Right?

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_02

Like I think that's a pretty good health hack.

SPEAKER_00

I'm just throwing it out there. Um now. Do you have to make a lunch for your daughter or anything in the morning?

SPEAKER_02

I don't, which is very nice where she goes to school. And this is during the school year. Um, the camp she's at right now, they do have lunch, but next week's camp, I will have to pack a lunch. Which I minus a sandwich, I will do everything the night before.

SPEAKER_00

So my daughter is very much into um packing. So I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_02

I really am sorry. For anyone that has to pack, I just know that my heart is with you. Yes. My mom chose to pack my lunch all the way up through 12th grade. Hmm. And it is it is one of the most cherished memories. Kids would make fun of me because of how great my lunches were. Which I'm like I my mom would pack like pumpernickel bread. And some of these kids were like, What is that? I'm like, it's pumpernickel bread. That's the best bread.

SPEAKER_00

It isn't it is pretty good bread.

SPEAKER_02

Pumpernickel with provolone cheese and make that a grilled cheese. Thank me later. That is good. Thank me later. Okay, go on. So you're packing.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so I have to pack. I get her once I'm dressed, I get her dressed. Um she does not like to brush her teeth before she eats breakfast. She just she wants to brush them after because if we eat breakfast, she thinks she has to brush her teeth again and she gets really upset.

SPEAKER_02

That is um I I that's a camp. There are people are camped in different camps. How many times can I say camp? It's campy. Um I am a eat after eye brush and drink water. I cannot drink water with last night's mouth.

SPEAKER_00

Like I don't like that. I don't know. I would rather usually like brush the coffee off of my teeth. Oh, see, that's true. And that is something I think about of that I it grosses me out.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I just thought that this morning.

SPEAKER_00

I would rather brush the coffee off my teeth, although I do normally have another cup, but I just you know um I have white teeth, so I I really would like to have them brightened. But so we get her breakfast. While she's eating breakfast, I'll pack her lunch, get her upstairs, get her dressed, brush her teeth, and then we go. Um if it's school year after I get after I have my coffee, I typically will go upstairs, brush my teeth, um, get ready, wake her up, take him to the bus, come back, get her breakfast. Yeah. You know, it's um and it'll be even earlier that I have to get him up. Does he have for high school?

SPEAKER_02

A bus stop.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_02

So it's physically not at your house. No.

SPEAKER_00

You have to I have to take him back.

SPEAKER_02

How far away is it?

SPEAKER_00

It's just the end of the street. So it used to be the street over for both of them. And they changed that, which either way it didn't really matter. Like you still have to get in the car. You still have to get in the car. And um it was I mean, during the school year it's nice because instead of having to take her to the babysitter like in the summertime and then drop her off and then go to work, um, I get her on the bus and then I can just go straight to work. Um, you know, I also uh can go to work earlier if I need to and adjust my schedule a little more in the summertime as opposed to during the school year.

SPEAKER_01

So it makes sense. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I was thinking about this today. I dropped my child off at camp, or camp is from eight to four, which is really a long day when I think about it. But I like what are parents doing who are working full-time.

SPEAKER_00

Other people are doing that for them.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I mean, that's what I'm saying. Like when your child is not in school, and even school hours is not really that great in terms of like if you work. That's why I have a babysitter. And yeah, but I'm saying, like, what are what are we doing if I don't know. I I just it's just it it's funny how at different ages and stages this stuff always hits me. But it's always just like, why are these the hours of things? Like, I I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I mean, if let's say your daughter wasn't in the school that she's in, the bus stop probably comes right here.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

No, she's she's old enough at this point now. Yeah, before no.

SPEAKER_02

Before I don't know what I would have done. And before we moved to this property, there was no bus for the school she's at.

SPEAKER_00

Oh.

SPEAKER_02

Which is weird because it was actually closer, but whatever. Yeah. I don't know. But I just, yeah, I just shout out to parents who are just relying on other people to help out because it's Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, it it it is hard, like our babysitter is on vacation next week. So we have like three people that are gonna be helping.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

I mean it it takes the village. It really does. So your morning routine, um, is it similar to your nighttime routine or is that completely different for you?

SPEAKER_02

It is similar, but you know, minus a few hundred things. So I right now, if I wear makeup, I'm removing my makeup, but I'm doing it with one of Saints like makeup remover wipes. Once I do that, I am not doing my routine. I'll just spray the um the mist and just call it a day. So that's what I do. I do the spray. And then I have been um I've been doing watercolor in the evenings. Oh, you're painting. Yeah, I got a um got it. I'll show you last night's. I got a it's a book and it has it's like a kit. So it was it was a book that has like the outline of the picture, and then you just you can either go rogue and do whatever you want, or you can follow the picture that's the recommended outcome. And that's really soothing to my brain, is to copy what they did. So do you know what I what book I picked, what theme of things to pick? Nature related. It is. Can you be more specific? Birds. Yes. Here was the gold finch that I painted. It's on the so you can see what was recommended, and then what I painted. You did a good job. Thank you. Thank you. And there's a okay. I'm saving the best bird for last, and it's a pigeon. Oh yeah. I'm really obsessed with pigeons. But this is what it looks like before before you paint it. So there is like it's just my husband that I I really want a pigeon tattoo.

SPEAKER_00

Well, you can take one of our pigeons. Do you want pigeons?

SPEAKER_02

No, we have enough, trust me. We would like to actually kill all the pigeons, if I'm being honest. Um, but when my daughter and I went to New York, I don't know why. We just were just became obsessed with pigeons. I now have a pigeon on my purse. It's a Kate Spade pigeon keychain purse thing, and I I get compliments on it.

SPEAKER_00

It's just home alone. Yeah, I mean, that's you know. But the pigeon lady saved the day. I know, she did. Technically, it was a positive. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I want it right here though. I just want a pigeon. Look, I even have the tattoo already already picked out. My husband's just very anti-pigeon because he hates pigeons. Yeah, pigeons are kind of yucky. They are, I know. I know. I think that's part of the appeal.

SPEAKER_00

They're kinda yucky.

SPEAKER_02

Jeez. Look at this tattoo. I just want to see it.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, that's super tiny, so.

SPEAKER_02

Isn't it cute?

SPEAKER_00

I mean, at that point, just put it on your neck. No game. I know.

SPEAKER_02

I need but I need to see it. Like, anyway, uh, shout out to my husband. I I I will, I will get my way eventually. I've decided. Anyway, um, so I've been painting. Uh, I've been adding that into my into my evening. I even asked my daughter to keep me accountable because I that's something I want to do, and I don't make time to do that to do that kind of stuff. And she's been really interested in like drawing, and that's kind of what we're doing side by side. Um, so I've been doing that. And let me see if there's anything. Oh, I did get a five-pack of the Epicutus face masks. I have to do them like once once a month, because they're just again, they're just outrageously overpriced. But I do love the way they make my skin look. So I did one last week. I would wish I could afford to do them weekly, daily, really, but I'm not a gazillion. There will be signs. It's like the lottery thing. If I win the lottery, there will be signs. Okay. I will do an Epicutus face mask every day.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

See, I feel like the hydrentity ones are.

SPEAKER_02

They are really nice. They are, it's true. They really are. They are like my favorite. I mean, did you do you have a skin fridge?

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_02

I don't either. Well, I used to. It actually leaked everywhere. Um it ruined a piece of furniture. Um, it was a whole thing. But I I decided that it it it still feels really good even when it's not refrigerated.

SPEAKER_00

But after a procedure, you have to. I always tell everybody you have to put it in the fridge. It needs to be cold. Just put it on, it'll go so. It is so good.

SPEAKER_02

It's almost like again, it's like that little tickle that you get when I was what what did I do? The CO2 laser. The little tickle of excitement that I got. Yeah. That's what that does. A cold face mask on a hot face.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Please do that to yourself. Um Do you have a specific bedtime or that you try to adhere to? Yes.

SPEAKER_02

Um ten. Ideally, I would love to go to bed at nine, even eight thirty, but that's not realistic.

SPEAKER_00

So I can sell I can be in bed at nine, but typically I just can't fall asleep. Fall asleep. And there are times where, you know, I just don't sleep at all. It's like I just get up. We talked about this.

SPEAKER_02

You um you don't do that very well.

SPEAKER_00

Is your your showering, do you prefer nighttime or do you prefer morning?

SPEAKER_02

I actually I've been doing what what do you call that mid-morning on a day when I don't have to work or anything and I take my child to school. That's when I'll come back and it's because it's a whole event. Yeah. We're we're doing all the things. We're shaving, or just everything. Yeah. It is so laborious to get a shower. I just I absolutely hate it.

SPEAKER_00

Hate it.

SPEAKER_02

And yet, it is kind of a necessity. Yeah. Just a little bit. Um, yeah, so I've been doing that, and then but I don't wash my hair.

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_02

That's that's a once a week.

SPEAKER_00

That's a once a week, yeah. Absolutely. So I prefer evening.

SPEAKER_02

Evening I I like evening, but I don't do it. I don't know. I feel like it's taking away from family time, which makes no sense because they're all like watching TV. Like they don't care.

SPEAKER_00

They don't care.

SPEAKER_02

Um, unless I have something in the morning. If I have something in the morning, I'm like, I really need to like get this done, then I will do it in the evening. Yeah. And it's usually between eight and nine. That's like my shower time.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I prefer I prefer evening, but um if I know I'm gonna do my hair, I don't necessarily love going to bed with my hair wet.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So that's like a thing to have a shower cap? No. Because if I'm not washing my hair, I keep it in a bun, so I don't need to have a shower cap. Um if I'm washing it, like again, still don't need to have a shower cap.

SPEAKER_02

I um I went through a phase of having a shower cap, and I just realized I I'm too young for this. Like I it was no.

SPEAKER_00

I have never done a shower cap that's never been. I don't think I'll do it when I'm older either.

SPEAKER_02

The bun is the bun suffices. And if you have just stay out of the the water. Like it's yeah, I think I just made it a big deal. Like I was like, this is an event. I need this thing. Not to mention the sound it makes, that just that awful water on plastic. Oh, it's right there. Your ears was very it didn't last. Maybe twice I've ever done it, and it was hilarious because it doesn't help. Yeah, you take it off, the thing's wet, you're gonna get your hair wet.

SPEAKER_00

Yep. Anyway. So I always brush my teeth before I wash my face. Same. Yeah, same. Why is this?

SPEAKER_02

I don't know why. Oh, yeah. Because are you a messy toothbrusher? I like it's like I I take the bristles and I wipe away the drool and I act like I'm shaving my beard. It's hilarious. Um But that's why, because I'm like, well, I don't want to wipe off all the product. I just even though my skin absorbed it, it's still Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

It's uh you're actually like toothpaste can be harsh on your skin, although some people will be like, oh, put toothpaste on your pimple and it'll make it go away. Like so I always brush first, um, and then I will always do my double cleanse in the evening. Um, and then I use different products in the evening compared to my morning routine. Um and it also will depend on my exfoliating. So I exfoliate it three times a week. And so yeah, it'll just depend on what type of exfoliation I'm doing, um, whether I'm using a a chemical or a physical exfoliant um in the evening.

SPEAKER_02

How do you keep tabs on that?

SPEAKER_00

Because I just know what I do. I know what I've used, so though lately my face has been very you know, I have a birthday coming up, so my hormones are changing slightly, stress levels are elevated, so um, you know, my face has been a little angrier than normal. So um I've had to change things up compared to what I would normally do on a regular basis, which is fine. Um, but I my typical lines that I use are the hydrenity, skin butter, or face reality.

SPEAKER_02

Um so I need to exfoliate. I don't do that. Yeah, it's good for you. I know.

unknown

I know. It's very good.

SPEAKER_02

I know. Like I know. And you do exfoliate your body too. I do. I have a beautiful scrub that I do, and then I lather myself in castor oil and lock it in with keels. I know, but I'm telling you, it's good stuff. That is actually something I would like to do more often. I only do the castor oil once a week.

SPEAKER_00

And I find See if I did that, my I break out. I don't do it on my face. No. On my mind. Yeah, I'm so like right now I'm having issues with like back knee. What do you got?

SPEAKER_02

Yep. Chest knee, butt knee. What are the what are they what are the calls things?

SPEAKER_00

That's successful. And that's just something like I'm very prevalent too. Like it just happens, so That sucks. And if I'm stressed just like with my face, it's it's a thing.

SPEAKER_02

It is it is a thing. I it's mainly just my face that it likes to tell me how how we're doing. This week has been relatively calm. Last week was for whatever reason a nightmare. Yeah. And it's not hormonal. They're just I've I in fact I have one here. And it hurts. Yeah. So I tea treat him to death.

SPEAKER_00

Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it doesn't.

SPEAKER_02

This one's like he's there. He's like under the surface. Oh, he's gonna hurt. I'm so tired of waking up. Actually, that is what I do first thing in the morning, right? As soon as as soon as the toilet flushes, I'll walk in towards the sink and I will assess my face. I'll be like, who is here today? Who do we need to like, who do we need to take out? That's I wish that wasn't true. But that is pretty much that's what I do.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

What are some routine, what are some things that you wish you did that you just don't?

SPEAKER_00

Um if I had it in me, I wish I would work out.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Because I think I would I need to do that in the morning. Um I used to think doing it in the evening was best, um, but I definitely think if I had it in me to work out do something, um, that would be the one thing. And read in the evening. So like reading's a big one. If I could do those two things where I would work out in the morning and then read in the evening, I think I would be What do you think that would do for you?

SPEAKER_02

I I know what the working out would do. What do you think reading would do for you?

SPEAKER_00

And and I should specify like reading um something that's just fun, not necessarily like a true related work. Yes, to replace that. Um, and not something that's work-related, something that's just or like heavy. You need oh well hang on. You know what I mean? What I was gonna suggest would be a true crime book.

SPEAKER_02

And and I could do true crime, but I also watch, you know what I mean? So like there's there's do we need a romance novel? Like what kind of book recommendations should we ask for from our audience?

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. Anything really that's just not work-related or news related because that will be like what I read when I go to bed. And then maybe not true crime since you're already watching them.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Alright, so you heard it here, audience. Rachel needs some book recs, something that she's gonna read. Okay. I like that. Would you get a Kindle? I've heard of people saying they get a Kindle and they put it on like the lowest setting. We even have like buttons now where you can just like sit back and read and click it, and it'll turn the page for you. Isn't that funny? I want to be so relaxed that I can't even turn a page. I can't be bothered.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like it would be like reading off my phone.

SPEAKER_02

I I can't say one way or the other. The people that I've heard that use a Kindle say it cancels, like it looks like a book. Yeah. But I don't know. I'm like, well then just read a book.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. But then again, it's like, okay, how much are you gonna pay for a book? How much is it for the Kindle? Then is it like, okay, is it pay a monthly subscription? Yeah. I don't know. Thoughts, audience.

SPEAKER_02

Oh I think a library card might be in your future. I know. Look, library might be the accountability you need because you have to give it back. Right? Right. Like you're like, why would you have to go to the house? Well, will you go to the library? Really, I guess. I wouldn't.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I wouldn't order online. Yeah. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Well, whatever. You know what? Whatever, audience. If you have a book that you're like, no, no, I have it. Yeah. Otherwise, it doesn't sound like Rachel's gonna read because But you know, again, just thoughts.

SPEAKER_00

Thoughts.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. I um I started to work out. In fact, I got in three workouts, and then I had my weird oh, we didn't talk about my old person injury. I had a hip I have a tight hip flexor. I went to OSS. I saw a friend there and we chatted. And then I missed another friend by a day. So clearly we are now this is what we do now at this age. Okay we go to OSS and hang out. Um anyway, I want to work out again, and I I'm struggling because I I think we have a lot going on, or it's just everything now needs the equivalent amount of attention, and whereas before it was kind of like sporadic and I felt a little more now. I'm like really feeling it of like, oh, okay, all of these things require my attention, right? So is it a bad thing? No, it's all self-inflicted, like it's all things I'm choosing to do, but I yeah, I am feeling like I need to exercise, like it's it's past it's past want. Now I need to.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, which then makes me not want to do it. I know, it's like you have to do it just because, and when you do it just because, it's great, but when it's like one more thing you have to fit in, I think that's the issue. I don't want to do that today.

SPEAKER_02

It's that and it's the I are I let's put it this way, I don't want to do it because I know what to do. Does that make sense?

SPEAKER_00

Like it's kind of like a diet.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, exactly.

SPEAKER_00

It's exactly like tell me I have to go on a diet, and you tell me I can only eat certain things, and I'm gonna want to eat anything but what you tell me I have to eat. And so when I say I'm going on a diet, it's normally not a good thing for me. Although I have done diets very successfully. I have. I'm just saying, like, but nowadays I'm more in the mindset I'm like, so please don't tell me I'm going on a diet. Yeah, because I don't want to. It's gonna be a seafood diet. I seafood and I eat it because you're telling me I can't. So that's gonna be the diet that I Rachel was on.

SPEAKER_02

I really did fall for that. And I looked at you like, what? Ew, a seafood diet. That's funny. That's funny. Seafood and I eat it. Yeah. That's a good, that's a good joke. That's a that's an old, that's a good, what do they call that? A goodie, but an oldie. Yeah. That's that's classic. Um, yeah, I that I think that's what it is. I think it's like I know what it takes to do that. I just don't have the energy to do it. I I I wish I had like that curiosity of like, well, let's see what happens. Let's see what happens. That is actually more motivating to me than like, oh, I have to now do this thing to get back to where I was, and I know what that entails. Yeah. Reading, I I just want to, just because I think it sounds cool to say I read a book once a week or every week, a different book a week, or whatever, I go through a book. I don't know what it would really do for me.

SPEAKER_00

I think it would probably be like I could say I'll go through a book in a month because I don't know that I devote that much time. You know what I mean? Or or by the time I got to sit down to read that said book, it depends on how tired I am because a lot of times when I do read it will put me to sleep. So I might get 10 pages.

SPEAKER_02

The the last book, actually, uh, I think I mentioned this on Instagram like a year ago when I had jury duty. I was so excited because I'm like, I get to read a book. Yeah. Because I couldn't have my phone. And I was so disappointed because I was able to I I knew the plot, the twist, everything about halfway through. And it wasn't even a good plot twist. It wasn't even a good book for that matter. And I was so like, what a wasted few days and hours of my life. I'll never get back. Now, yes, I was stuck at jury duty no matter what. But writing, can we just get better people? Yeah, let's get better.

SPEAKER_00

It's it's because AI's doing it, guys.

SPEAKER_02

It does make you wonder. I am so like, I'm just I'm so annoyed with with all of it. All of it.

SPEAKER_00

It it is what it is at this point. I think I think a a lot of us are so overstimulated that we look at something and we say, Oh, this is just gonna make life easier, and we get to the point where it's just like fine. I think and that's that's where AI comes into place and it just makes things easier without making them easier. It makes us it makes us dumber and smarter all at the same time. Yes. I I fully stand by that. You know, it's it's not uh one or the other. It's uh, you know.

SPEAKER_02

I I don't know if I said this a couple weeks ago or what, but I've been I've been writing to the best of my ability my original thought and idea, and I'll I will run it by chat for errors, or is he is there a better way I can do this? This is funny though, I did this twice. I did two different reels. One I never posted because I just I just didn't. Um, but I was creating a caption like on on the actual reel, like a like a comedic one-liner. And I entered it and it was like, oh, yeah, love this idea, concept. Here are some alternative things. And I asked him, like, is mine better? And he was like, Yeah, actually yours is way better than what I came up with. Like, so then why did I even ask you? Like it's the it's the I'm second guessing myself, or maybe you're just like, well, I'm just curious, like, is there a better way? And then no. But twice it was like, no, yours is way funnier.

SPEAKER_01

Like, okay.

SPEAKER_02

Thank you. Yeah. Thank you, chat. Thank you for that compliment. Yeah. Even though he now thinks he's also not AI. It's a we situation against AI. Which I really find strange.

SPEAKER_00

Well, you and AI are gonna You and chat, sorry. Is your chat a boy or a girl? I don't know.

SPEAKER_02

I never He never like assigned like a in my mind it's a he.

SPEAKER_00

My husband's it's a she. I mean, I guess in my mind it's a he. You ever ask it what it looks like? No. Should we do that live on the air?

SPEAKER_02

No. That's gonna be weird. Um, yeah, alright. Well, well, I don't know how much of this will keep in, but your birthday is on Sunday.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we don't need to talk about that. We're not talking about that.

SPEAKER_02

We're not gonna talk about it. We'll talk about it roundabout. So this weekend. Do you have any plans?

SPEAKER_00

Um, I go to work tomorrow, and then I'm gonna eat crabs with my parents on Sunday.

SPEAKER_02

Just just a random, random crab adventure on a Sunday with your family.

SPEAKER_00

All of my siblings, we all have birthdays in the same week. Right. So it's kind of like birthday crabs. Birthday crabs.

SPEAKER_02

The kind of crabs you want. The good crabs. I have not uh, you know, there's a business like near here that is their business name. She's got crabs. Yes. We love them. Yes, we love them. Um, I have not had crabs yet this year.

SPEAKER_00

No, this will be my first crab.

SPEAKER_02

Wow. What a what an outbreak.

SPEAKER_00

What an outbreak.

SPEAKER_02

We're all gonna get them. Well, that's exciting because at least all the attention is not on you. Yeah, I don't like that. So are your siblings like that? Do they also not like attention?

SPEAKER_00

Oh no, my brother likes attention. My little sister, no, not so much. Interesting.

SPEAKER_02

So, yeah. Who knows what it means, but yeah. So you're not doing anything special except getting crabs just on a random, totally random Sunday with your family, yeah. And you all share just a totally random day. Yeah not the day, but okay.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's all. Just just was wondering. Just was wondering what you were doing this weekend. That's it. Okay. Nothing special.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Well, you're lucky that this comes out to see here. This comes out in the past. So no, this comes out in the future. This is one of those things. Hold on. This comes out in the future and it will be about the past. Right. So, Rachel, how was your birthday? Let's put it out there. Uh it was good. Great. It was great. And we'll end on it was great. It's fine. What birthday? I don't know. Again, guys, this podcast is about everything, and we solve nothing.

SPEAKER_00

Nothing, absolutely nothing.

SPEAKER_02

Alright, well, we have like stuff to do. Yeah. So I guess we'll go do it. This has been the Beauty Files, and don't forget about us. Like, you know, do things on Instagram. Like ask us questions. Follow questions, topics. Share. Share. Share with a friend. Share with a foe. Share with a stranger. Someone you know. I had to finish the round. Um, and that's that's all I have to say. Yeah. At least for now.

SPEAKER_00

All right, guys. Yeah, I think that's it. All right, all right, case closed. Happy birthday, Rachel.
