Ep. 18 - Next Gen Media: The Rise of an 11-Year-Old Host
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
For single parents balancing multiple jobs, finding a reliable environment that fosters growth rather than recklessness is an urgent necessity. In this episode, we sit down with Bex, an incredibly sharp 11-year-old Boys and Girls Club member who has channeled his passion for basketball and community into hosting his own sports podcast.
We get into what it really looks like to grow up inside the club network and how those local programs bridge the gap for working families. Bex shares his firsthand experiences interviewing professional athletes, tracking cross-country sports statistics, and navigating the mechanics of content creation at a young age. He also brings a deep analytical breakdown of modern basketball culture, offering a unique perspective on athletic legacy that challenges standard media narratives.
The reality of youth development is that opportunities are not distributed evenly, and smaller states often get overlooked by major national platforms. Bex highlights how early access to mentorship, advanced education tracks, and structured community environments can completely reshape a young person's trajectory before they even hit middle school. You will walk away with a fresh understanding of how intentional community investment unlocks massive creative capability in the next generation.
If you care about youth mentorship, community sports programs, and public education advocacy, you’ll get a lot from this. Please remember to Subscribe and Share to support the Youth Unmuted podcast. Welcome back everyone. My name is Holden and I am your host for the Youth Unmuted podcast. This is a team-led podcast with the Boys and Girls Club of Benton County, where we share unique stories that relate to today's youth. Let's get started. All right, welcome back everyone to Youth Unmuted. Today's guest is my friend Bex. He is a club kid at the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Green Bay. And Bex started on Shorts on Sports, where he interviews local sports figures. And today I get to interview him. So welcome Bex.
SPEAKER_00Thank you so much. I'm really excited to be here and I'm excited to have a nice conversation.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely, dude. Me too. So let's get into it. And the first question, um, just for everyone who doesn't know you, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
SPEAKER_00Okay, so my name is Bex, but more like formerly Beckett Kinsker. Um, I have a podcast called Shorts on Sports. Um, and I interview athletes and I go all across the country um for the Boys and Girls Club of America emceeing events and helping out with events, and I'm 11 years old.
SPEAKER_01Heck yeah. Let's go. Okay, Bex, how did you get involved with the club?
SPEAKER_00So, and around 2021, um, I was seven years old, and my mom was working three jobs at a time, and uh, I just I couldn't be home alone at seven years old. Um, number one, just because that's just common sense, but also me at seven years old was a very reckless person. So that's even more of a no. And she's needed somewhere for me to go, a safe place that, you know, could do all these things that a kid needs. And that was the boys and girls club for me. And um, it was a great place. Um, I had meals, I could do homework, and it was during the school year. Um, they did sports, gardening. You got to get out in the community and do field trips. It's just, it's a very good place for that. And it really helped my mom out a lot. And um, here we are today.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, dude, I love that. Um, very similar story. I uh it's just me and my mom at home. So she's a single mother, and um, she worked until about 5 30 every day. And so when school gets out two hours before that, you know, you need that place to go. And the Boys and Girls Club does bridge that gap for us. And um, there's a lot of fun things to do. Um, what's your favorite thing to do at the club?
SPEAKER_00Oh, well, either probably play sports, specifically, probably basketball, but I like a lot of stuff there, but probably sports.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I get that. I think playing basketball was definitely my favorite thing, or is still my favorite thing to do at the club, especially when you can get like all the other kids to play. Um, we go against the staff sometimes, which is a lot of fun, especially when we beat them, you know, just tell them, you know, like this next generation, you know, we got them beat, which is a lot of fun. Um, what type of field trips have you guys gone on before at your club? Do you remember?
SPEAKER_00Um, once we went to um Milwaukee for like a Cal Ripkin thing. I was actually about to wear the shirt. Um, and we did like a baseball tournament, but it was it wasn't like baseball, it was this like kids program called play ball. And they're like these softballs, these like soft little bats, and we made teams and there's clubs from all over Wisconsin. And that was a very fun experience. They had snacks. I remember that. Um, they've had a lot of them. One of them they went to a park, they went to a water park. It's just a lot of fun um experiences, opportunities.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it sounds like it, dude. It's always fun to play sports, and I grew up playing a lot of sports, and it sounds like you definitely do. Um, my I have a neighbor who's actually his name is Ripkin. They named him after Cal Ripkin. So that's really cool.
SPEAKER_00That's that's actually really cool, dude. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, that's tough. Yeah. All right. Next question I have for you is um, who was the first celebrity that you interviewed?
SPEAKER_00All right, so this was January 2023. Um, I was just starting my podcast, and I interviewed, as most of you will probably know him as Mr. Simone Biles, but it was Jonathan Owens, the um husband, proud husband of Simone Biles. Um at the time he was a safety for the Packers. Then he went to the Bears the year after, and now he's on the Colts. So congratulations for him. But that was a really fun interview. I liked his trip.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's a drippy guy. Yeah. What was he wearing? Do you remember? Yes.
SPEAKER_00He was wearing like some some like very like tight, like light blue jeans, but like this like this like designer um sweatshirt. I think it was like like Yeezy some sort, and it was kind of like it looked like it was like like almost like broken, but like it wasn't. It and then he had like some sick, like camo type shoes on. I don't I don't remember it exactly, but it was some sick drip.
SPEAKER_01You just remember Brow was dripped out that day for you. Yeah, he did that for you, bro.
SPEAKER_00Maybe.
SPEAKER_01Hey, that's pretty cool. Um, I think yeah, I was listening to another podcast the other day, and they were talking about like how it feels to not be the most famous person uh in your relationship. And so when you said Mr. Simone Biles, like that's what it reminded me of. Um, but he's a cool dude. I think a lot of people definitely know who he is because of her. But um, I don't know. You know all the NFL players, so I'm not even gonna get into that conversation because I know you know who everyone is, and I definitely don't.
SPEAKER_00Thanks.
SPEAKER_01All right, so while we're talking about all these NFL players and celebrities, which one has been your favorite to meet so far?
SPEAKER_00Well, I have two. One of them I interviewed, one of them I haven't. So the one that I've interviewed, Natisha Heideman, she's now the starting point guard, I believe starting point guard for the Seattle Storm. Um, she was like a family friend to my grandparents growing up, and um, she's just such a cool person. Um, she has a podcast with Courtney Williams, her former teammate. Um, it's called Stud Buds. You guys should check it out. Um, but she's a really cool person. Um, just her energy, her vibes, and she always like changes the color of her hair. It's it's really cool.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it sounds like it. That's tough, dude. So you just like all sports. Has there been a sport that you like haven't interviewed someone or met someone from? Or you're pretty much all around?
SPEAKER_00Well, I've technically it would have been baseball, but I've met Alex Rodriguez, so that wouldn't work. Soccer? I don't think I've met a soccer player, but or I don't think hockey either. But but football, basketball are like the two two main ones.
SPEAKER_01The two main ones? Okay. I have had a soccer player on. Actually, um, the episodes that are dropping for June was Mia Ham. Uh, if you know who that is.
SPEAKER_00She Yeah, um, she's woman's for USA, right?
SPEAKER_01That's right. Yeah, she played in the Olympics, won a gold medal for them. And so she was actually our guest before you, and so she was super cool. Um, for those of you guys that haven't listened, go listen to that. So I have had a soccer player, and then I had um Malcolm Mitchell, who played in the NFL. He played for the Patriots with Tom Brady.
SPEAKER_00Okay, that that's kind of funny because there's a Malcolm Butler who played with Tom Brady on the Patriots probably during that same time. I don't think I know who Malcolm Mitchell is. Unless like he took the name of his wife, which simply doesn't happen, but like that might be why. But yeah, that that's probably sick too. Just any like just the opportunity and the memory is just the fun part of it.
SPEAKER_01That's exactly right. They have some cool stories. Um, they traveled a lot of places. Where's the where's the best place you've gone, like traveling? The club sent you on.
SPEAKER_00Oh, um, wow. Uh I liked, I kind of wanted to like I like Dallas. Um when we went to Dallas. That was just really cool. Cause like it just wasn't like too much like New York City, which I loved in New York City. I love New York City, which you're going um in September. I think it was just a really cool place. Um, but like Dallas, just like it was kind of like low-key and discreet, but it was really fun. And um ATT was created in Dallas. So they had this like AT ⁇ T plaza thing where they have all these like restaurants and they have like money museum, and that wasn't connected, but like the balloon museum. It leaves June 14th. So if you're in the Dallas area and you want to go to the Balloon Museum, you should go. It's very fun. But probably Dallas. I like Los Angeles, I like Atlanta. I just like the opportunity, man. I just and also I need some warm weather because I'm never been tan in my life.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's unfortunate. Uh, my best friend, his family is from Wisconsin, and so I've gone with them a few times in the summer. Um, we've been to like where in um Eagle River and Manitowak, but we've been to Green Bay uh and like got to go a little bit inside the stadium. But it was just I have a question. Yeah, go ahead.
SPEAKER_00Now we're reversing it. That's how'd you like Green Bay? If you had to rate it on a scale of one to ten, how'd you like Green Bay?
SPEAKER_01Okay. I would have to give it like I'm gonna give it an eight. I liked it. The weather was nice, and um they're very like I don't know how to say like old-fashioned. Like, so we went to um I think it was called Basil's. Uh is it like what is it?
SPEAKER_00What is it?
SPEAKER_01It's like a butterburger restaurant.
SPEAKER_00Oh, culver's?
SPEAKER_01No, I don't think it was culverse. We have culvers. It was more? Yeah, we have culverse in Arkansas.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_01Uh it's probably not as good as it is over there, but I don't know. It was a good restaurant for me. But I think we just went in a time where it wasn't very like alive as like it can be. So I feel like going in like maybe like in like peak, like NFL season or anything, that would be that would make it like a 10 out of 10 experience. But I love Wisconsin. It reminds me of like Arkansas, but on like a bigger scale, just because there's a lot more people there. But the weather is um similar at some points. It definitely gets a lot colder down there. Um, yeah, wait, when'd you go? We went in the summer, so it's probably like June.
SPEAKER_00You haven't seen winter Wisconsin, but us like small and not as known states, we have to, you know, like be unmuted, I guess. Youth unmuted for it, because you know, everybody thinks of the New York, the Californias, the Floridas, or the Texas. Like, nobody thinks about Arkansas and Wisconsin.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's definitely true about Arkansas, let me tell you. But uh, we have Walmart kind of making a name for ourselves. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
SPEAKER_00Wait, was Walmart made in Arkansas?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Walmart is uh main Arkansas. That's where like our headquarters is. Actually, just last week we had like Associates Week. And so Walmart like picks associates from all across the country to come down for a week and they have like private like convert concerts and like a conference, like Shabuzi was here, um Dan and Shea, Benson Boone, and it's all only for Walmart employees, so like which is crazy. So there's definitely like a lot of opportunities. That's what I'm saying. Uh come down your back. That's cool.
SPEAKER_00They also like so um I watched Ryan Trey, anybody know who that is. Um, he did like a going to 50 states 50 days series, and he went to an Airbnb in each state, and he ranked them. And in Arkansas and New Mexico, there were missile silos. You could there's a missile silo and there's an Airbnb there, and it was really nice. It was like, yeah, you have to watch those. Those are actually really cool.
SPEAKER_01All right. It was 50 states in 50 days. Yeah, but I'm not a tray fan. Okay. I think I've seen some of it on TikTok actually. Yeah, probably. All right, let's see. What is your favorite video game and why? I know that you're into video games, but for everyone else, we gotta talk about it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I've been texting you so many times on Discord asking you to hop on this game, which is Fortnite. Um, I just like the game. I just think it's fun. I get to play with my friends. Um, and really, like this new season, you can get to collect sprites and there's like rare ones and everything, and I'm collecting them. It's it's just very fun. Also, I'm just very good at it. So, you know, like I like stuff that I'm good at, but also I just like Minecraft so I can just like relieve my like my creative brain. But I don't really I like I don't like Minecraft, but like I just like like the creativity that you can use in it.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I'm gonna I don't have Discord, that's like the problem. I need to download it so we can play together.
SPEAKER_00Wait, time on you don't?
SPEAKER_01No, I don't. You I got the invite from you, but I have to download it or search it up. I don't even know.
SPEAKER_00And Discord it says that you're cheese curd 24.
SPEAKER_01Cheese curd 24. Well, I don't know what that even is. Sounds like someone from Wisconsin, but oh well, what?
SPEAKER_00That that's kind of I'll look into it.
SPEAKER_01All right, and we'll we're gonna get a game going and then we will update the podcast on when we win. Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna 1v1 you and we're gonna put it on here, and it's gonna be me beating you.
SPEAKER_01That is probably true. That is probably true. I you plan on um this is actually a question that we'll get to now is on here. Uh, what gaming console do you use?
SPEAKER_00Okay, I used to play Xbox at my mom and my dad's, but now on my mom's, I play on PC and I connect to controller, and then my dad's playing Xbox, but we're out of calls for and he said he's gonna get me a PC, which I don't know if I believe, but fingers crossed.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you want a PC?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and just PC like learning like all like the mechanics is too hard because I like I can aim pretty good, I can edit pretty good, I just cannot build. So I just like connect in a controller because it's just it's just easier, you know?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I get that. I have a friend that uh actually does play on like PC and he does a keyboard and he's better than all of us. So I play on PS4.
SPEAKER_00Does he tilt it? Does he tilt it?
SPEAKER_01Dude, you'd have to ask him. He probably does if that makes him better. Uh he grinds constantly. Um like we're if we're just talking, he'll be playing in like creative, just practicing his builds. So um shout out to stud. All right. Um, what sports team do you cheer on? I feel like we should know the answer. But go ahead.
SPEAKER_00I'm gonna run it down. But for the NFL, NASA from Green Bay, obviously it is uh Tennessee Titans. What? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay, you're a Titans fan.
SPEAKER_00Yep, yeah. I don't know. Um, because all my friends said I was bandwagon, like I cheer for the best teams, so I said I'm gonna be a Titans fan for the rest of my life. And I mean, I feel like we're gonna be pretty good this year. I don't know though. But yeah.
SPEAKER_01The Titans, that's an interesting uh another part. I listened to the New Rides podcast with um Jason and Travis Kelsey. Um, I was listening to that earlier, and the Titans are one of five teams that do not have a primetime game this year. Yeah, they don't.
SPEAKER_00It's with the Raiders, Dolphins, Cardinals, and the Browns, I think.
SPEAKER_01Wow. Pretty sure of that. Just nailed it. Sounds right to me. So I don't care.
SPEAKER_00Yay.
SPEAKER_01I don't know if that's promising for your Titans that they're gonna have a good season if they're not even getting a primetime game, but yeah, but I mean maybe then they're not in the biggest light, so then nobody can judge them anymore. So Yeah, you're just right. Just let them go out and do their thing. Are you gonna be able to go to a game this year?
SPEAKER_00Uh last year I was gonna go on my birthday, November 30th, against the Jags, but we ended up not going. But I hope I get to go to a Titans game this year. Um, but I got to interview Cam Ward at the draft when it was in Great Bay a year or two ago. So um, yeah, hopefully, but nothing for sure scheduled yet.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I get that. Maybe the club will pull through. They do, they do a lot for us.
SPEAKER_00I mean, yeah, they I mean, we're very lucky, man.
SPEAKER_01Nah, we definitely are. Um, that's actually something we can talk about. Is um how many places have you been to because of the club? If it's like a hundred, then just name your favorite, but like go ahead.
SPEAKER_00Okay, well, different states. I've been to California from the club twice, actually. I've been to Texas from the club, I've been to Georgia from the club, slash Atlanta. I've been to New York City. Um, I feel like I'm forgetting some. My mom's in the other room, like screaming them. I'm gonna be going to Seattle for um the club, but oh, I've been in North Carolina, Charlotte, um, national conference. So this year is in Charlotte, and the year before when I went, it was in San Diego. I've also been to Los Angeles.
SPEAKER_01Dope. I have I'm going to New York for the club New York City. That'll be my first time there. Thank you. Um, Dallas is where um I've been a few times because that's always where the Southwest event is. Well, was it your first time there?
SPEAKER_00Last it was in Texas, anyways, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh, really? That was your first time in Texas, and so that's when you got to do everything, and that's why you like Dallas so much.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's just a really fun place, you know. I liked it.
SPEAKER_01I like Dallas. It's cool. It's only about a five-hour drive. So I've been up there a few times. Yeah. Um, I'm trying to think where else. Uh, DC, the summit for America's Youth is down there. And so I've been down there a few times for that. And then um Chicago, that is not Illinois. My geography is bad. All right. But I've been down there uh for uh the National Keystone Conference. I was on the advisory council for that. So the club has taken me to a lot of places. It's really fun.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it's just the experience, it's just it's really fun, um, and the opportunity. Just a great thing.
SPEAKER_01So uh Bex, what's your favorite sport? Either to play or to watch, or if they're the same?
SPEAKER_00Basketball for both. I like basketball, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Do you play basketball uh on a team?
SPEAKER_00Um, so a couple of years ago I played for the club. Um, but now I'm playing for a local high school. I actually had my first practice yesterday. Um but I'm playing with my friend Ben. Um shout out Ben. But um, yeah, um, I do play and I think getting better. Oh no, I'm playing like on a team. Like, so there's like a third and fourth team, there's a like fifth and sixth team, there's a seventh and eighth team, and then there's the high school team. But it's all for the same high school. So like the coaches are from the high school.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay, cool. What grade are you going into?
SPEAKER_00I'm going into sixth grade, but eighth grade math.
SPEAKER_01Oh, what a genius, Bex. Okay. Dude, sixth grade, sixth grade math for me was tough, dude. I'm not gonna lie. We had homework every day and I wasn't feeling it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I so last year, if don't laugh and don't even make the joke, I was in sixth and seventh grade math. I'm not gonna I have I don't even get it. But now this year I'm gonna be in seventh and eighth grade math. So it's like a 50-50 split.
SPEAKER_01Okay, cool.
SPEAKER_00So I'm kind of in seventh grade and eighth grade math.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so is that uh junior high at your school or your like elementary or middle school?
SPEAKER_00Okay, so yeah, so well, it's just like a gifted school, so like they have like advanced classes and you can get like high school credits and stuff. But I don't think I think they do that at every school actually, but I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Out of mine, but hey, proud of you. Keep it up. Uh, do you know what college you want to go to?
SPEAKER_00Uh I want to go to Notre Dame. There's actually a Notre Dame High School in Green Bay, which I want to go to. Um, but yeah, so Notre Dame College, just like Notre Dame University, I just like it. My grandpa um loves the college. Um, some of our family went there, and my grandpa said that if I do good in high school and like I like get like a full ride scholarship because the Notre Dame high school gives a lot of scholarships. He said he'd pay. So um, shout out to my grandpa. But yeah, I'm trying to go to Notre Dame, but you know, like when I was a kid, I liked Utah. Um, I don't know why. I like Oregon, but I kind of want to play sports there. I kinda don't, but like I don't like go there just to play sports, because if that doesn't work out, then you know like I'm left without anything. So yeah, just wherever life takes me, I'll just be happy for the opportunity.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's exactly right. Uh, do you think you're gonna do youth of the year when you can?
SPEAKER_00I if I can, which I think I can, and um Lexi, um, so you probably know she's like behind like the youth of the year and like all like the regional youth of the years or like sectional parts of the US. Um, yeah, you know what I mean. Um she said that she wants me to come and she also said that so because she asked, what will when will I next see you? And I was like, um, probably next year at the National Conference. She was there this year, and she was like, That's too long. And she said, We'll try to make something happen. And even if that doesn't happen, she wants to um come to Green Bay for the Cowboy um Packers game because she's a Cowboys fan. But yeah, oh, also I've been in Nevada slash Las Vegas for um from the Boys and Girls Club. I should remember that one.
SPEAKER_01Add it to the list. Well, I think you should definitely compete when you're 14, because I bet you do get. And also, fun fact, my advisor Ashley, she's also going to the Cowboys Green Bay game.
SPEAKER_00It's gonna be a good one.
SPEAKER_01She'll be down there, so I think we just have a whole boys and girls club reunion over there.
SPEAKER_00Oh, nice. I mean, boys and girls, or boys and girls says the Packers own the Cowboys. I'm gonna be honest.
SPEAKER_01Well, she's a Cowboys fan, so I'll have to let her know. I mean, she'll hear this.
SPEAKER_00Well, we'd be on the playoffs for the first ever 17 to do that.
SPEAKER_01Uh, he's gonna have some choice words, but it sounds like you got the statistics to back it up, so that's cool, dude. Uh, how many Cowboys or how many Packers games have you gone to? Do you know?
SPEAKER_00Okay. I need to count for a minute. Okay, so are you including preseason?
SPEAKER_01Sure.
SPEAKER_00Okay. So I've been to Packers Seahawks preseason, I've been to Packers Saints preseason, I've been to Packers Patriots, I've been to Packers Chargers, I've been to Packers Vikings, I've been to Packers Rams, I've been to Packers Lions, I've been to Packers, um Commanders, I've been to Packers, and then I think I've been to one more. Oh, I've been to another Packers Saints game, um Christmas Eve. I or no Monday, December 23rd, 2024. I have no clue I remember that. Um and then I think I've been to one more. I just can't remember it. I think maybe I went to two Vikings games. Maybe not. Oh, and I went to um Packers Panthers last year when um I feel like maybe our players forgot what football was because that was a horrible game. But yeah, so I think if I add that up, I think that was 10 games that I've been to then. And then training camp.
SPEAKER_01Training camp. Okay. Have you the Packers do like this thing at practice?
SPEAKER_00Oh, the bike thing. Bike thing for the place. Yes, okay, I was about to bring that up. So they were doing a joint one with the Ravens, and the Packs one gets like pay and everything, but the Ravens went to the public. So my stepdad, Jeff, has like this like prism like purple one, so kind of like Ravens colors. And um eyes, like it wasn't mine, but I had it for the players because they had like ride like little like tricycles, like Spider Man tricycles, and you know, like they just want like an actual ride. So I got Kyle Hamilton, actually, one of the highest paid safeties in the NFL. One of the best ones to ride my backs. And then I got Justin Matabike, one of the best um defensive ends in the NFL. So yeah, that was very fun as well.
SPEAKER_01Bex, you may be the coolest 11-year-old there is. Definitely a coolest 11-year-old there is.
SPEAKER_00I'm not the coolest 11-year-olds.
SPEAKER_01Uh this is my personal opinion, but I don't know. There's not a lot of 11-year-olds um get to do the things that you do. So proud of you for that. Um, Bex, who is your favorite sports player, professional player?
SPEAKER_00Okay, well, Devin Booker, probably. Because um, I got to meet him, I got assigned high school jersey. I'm a Suns fan, so I really love Devin Booker. So yeah, I just I think he's a good guy, nice guy. Um, and as a Suns fan.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Um, so while we were filming this, the um Spurs and the Knicks are still playing in the finals. But when this comes out, it will be over. So I need your prediction right now who's winning and in what game.
SPEAKER_00Okay, when we're making it, and the Spurs are down two to one to the Knicks after game three last night. Now at the start of the whole thing. So online, these people might know, um, there's this Corgi, and they call him Steph Corgi, because kind of like Steph Curry, and he has like this like like the long, like Corgi type nose, and he has two baskets, like kind of like basketball, but they're garbages. He has like a like a blown-out like beach ball, but it's a basketball, and he like hits like with like his nose and it goes around, it's in like the like a stair thing, and it like bounces around, it goes into a hoop. And the Spurs OKC series in the comments finals, he predicted Spurs and seven, but not like in random games. He got the exact game right and who was winning. And he's right. Yeah, so so far, yeah, Knicks game one, Knicks game two, and then Spurs game three, and he has Spurs and seven. So I'm going with Spurs at seven, and I'm on Steph Corgi's side because he's a Corgi, he's cool, and I just think he's probably gonna he's gonna be right, you know.
SPEAKER_01Let's go, Steph Corgi. Um, that's who Bex has got his money on. Okay, let's go, Spurs. Are you a Spurs or who do you want to win? Spurs or the Knicks?
SPEAKER_00Well, Frank, um, who works for the Boys and Girls Club, he's a huge Knicks fan. And when we were in Charlotte, he I was talking bad about the Knicks because I thought they were gonna lose in the first round of the Hawks, and they didn't. And they got through. And um, you know, it's kind of scary now because I was like, okay, fine, even though if they beat the Hawks, they're not making it pass the next round. Well, they made it past the next round and like with ease. Like, I've kind of forgotten about that series. And I was like, okay, well then the max is the conference finals. Yeah, no, they got to the conference finals and won. So now they're in the finals, and I did guarantee to Frank that the Knicks are not winning the finals. So go Spurs, I guess. But I I saw I probably then have to say the Spurs, but not gonna lie, next year is kind of a weird thing. But in 2022, in the Eastern Conference Finals, the Celtics were playing the Heat, and the Celtics went to the finals and not from the Eastern Conference Finals, but they beat the Heat. The next year the Heat went to the finals and they beat the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. The next year the Celtics went to the finals and beat the Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals. Then the next year the Pacers beat the Cavs. Or no, they beat the Knicks, then the Pacers went to the finals, and then the Knicks just beat the Cavs and went to the finals. So next year I think the Cavaliers are gonna get over the home. Maybe with LeBron, who knows, and go to the finals for this little thing.
SPEAKER_01Okay, I'm not gonna lie, you just kind of blew my mind. I heard what you were saying, but that was a lot of information. So um Bex is a genius, already smarter than I am, but that's okay. That's okay. That's why I have guests on here to educate me. So I feel like I definitely know a little bit more now. Um, but according to your logic, yeah, it all makes sense. All right. Have you seen uh Carter Bryant on TikTok? Or I don't know if you have social media.
SPEAKER_00Oh, um, game two of I think, or game four of the Western odds finals when he went into the public bathroom. Is that what you're talking about?
SPEAKER_01Uh yeah, just that, and then so much other. He just seems like such like a cool guy.
SPEAKER_00When he got yeah, when he got yelled at by Mitch Johnson, and then he was like kind of crying on the sidelines. Yeah, that was so sad.
SPEAKER_01That was sad, but then Wimby was there to cheer him up. He seems like a really cool guy. Um, him like learning ASL and everything, his grandparents were deaf. So he does a lot for his community too, and um likes be an advocator for um the deaf community, which is amazing. So I'm a big Carter Bryant fan. He sounds like a cool guy. He gives me very, very similar to Jared McCain type of energy.
SPEAKER_00Oh, like the TikTok stuff.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Okay, yeah. I remember um how when I first learned about Carter Bryant, is because he was doing the dunk contest and he went up and dunked it, and the ball hit the rim and he falled and he or falled. What fell on his back like like really hard? It's like he was like doing it and completely myth, like probably airballed the dunk and then just fell on his back. It's like even though like he got hurt, like it's it was kind of funny to see, but like not by that he got hurt, obviously.
SPEAKER_01Like that was that does I did not see that. Um can can you show everyone your shirt really quick? Uh are you telling us right now MJ's the goat, he's better than LeBron?
SPEAKER_00Yes, obviously. He has six championships. And then people say that's the only argument that you have. That's the only argument I need. The goal in basketball is to get the most championships. And then I'm not like LeBron. And second, behind LeBron is Kobe being Bryant.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00But then you're like, if the logic is that if you have the most reigns and you're the best, then why wouldn't Bill Russell be the best? But Bill Russell played against Plumbers, so that doesn't count.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_00Well, don't get me wrong. I mean, he kind of did.
SPEAKER_01Bex, I do not have as much information as you, so I'm not even gonna attempt to argue with you because it sounds like you've got everything figured out.
SPEAKER_00Well, yeah, you're a LeBron fan.
SPEAKER_01Um, I'm not necessarily a LeBron fan, but I'm not a LeBron hater. I am I personally think MJ was better than him because I don't think that um time is greater than skill. And I think a lot of LeBron's stats, he is great, and he's great for how how long he's been playing. But I feel like what MJ did in a shorter amount of time is unmatched.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, like my opinion. So LeBron stays next year, he'll have nine more years on Jordan, but Jordan has more DPOIs, more files, appearances, more not more files appearances, more finals wins, more MVPs, all that's good stuff.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00But yeah.
SPEAKER_01All right, so uh now everyone knows where Bex stands on that, and also a lot of other information he has. Um, unfortunately, that is all the time we have for part one.
